Makeup: Minimal eye makeup in her day to day (mainly just eyeliner), she wears makeup all the time for her actual job and there is always so much of it so she doesn’t really mess with it during the day time
Build: She is built like a dancer, which is good because she is one!
Style: Button down shirts and scarves with jeans and slacks while not on the job. When she’s performing she is obviously wearing the costumes for whatever show she’s in at the time. Her colors typically stick to whites, blacks, grays and blues
Personality
General Personality Traits: Perceptive, Intelligent, Focused
Strengths: Altruistic, Loyal, Problem Solver
Flaws: Stubborn, Know-it-all, Impatient
Habits and Mannerisms: She shuts her eyes and holds them closed a lot; she stretches an awful lot, occasionally actually working through dance steps sometimes
Secrets: She keeps her powers: psychic shielding, precognitive visions and slight telekinesis close to the vest, not letting anyone really out of the loop know, it's just a little weird and she doesn’t think many people will actually believe her, it's only when she shows up to save them from disaster after disaster that they start to put things together; She has an advanced form of Narcolepsy. Her brain, given its heightened power and abilities, does not really allow for easy sleep so she stays awake until her body forces her to collapse, often at inopportune times. She doesn’t tell a lot of people this either because the reason why is even weirder than the condition
Regrets: She regrets ever letting her parents talk her into participating in those experiments, if she hadn’t perhaps her life would be normal, maybe then she could sleep without her body completely shutting down and her mind wouldn’t be plagued by visions of disasters
Skills/Talents: Warnings; Singing, dancing and acting; Self defense
Likes: Music and dance, Sunsets, Catching up with friends
Dislikes: Hospitals, Traffic, People taking advantage of others
Sense of Humor: Dry comedy and Dad jokes
Guilty Pleasure: Rom-coms
Defining Moment: She saw a vision of a teenage boy named Luc who could be trapped in a burning building. She didn’t have any powers that would save her from such a fate but when she saw the burning building an hour later, she charged in and saved the kid. She was in the hospital for several days after that, she doesn’t regret it. She had failed to save a friend before, she would not fail another person again.
Family: Stephanie Howard (Mother), Justin Howard (Father), Lloyd Howard (Younger Brother)
Enemies: Kilgrave
Lovers: Jessica Jones (eventually)
Relationship Status: Single, too busy
Reputation: She is respected and carries herself in a very serious manner. She dares anyone to underestimate her
Miscellaneous
Current Residence: Hell’s Kitchen, New York
Collections: Playbills of shows she’s been in
Accent: New York
Voice: Strong and clear
Signature Quote: “Underestimate me. It’ll be fun to prove you wrong.”
Song: TBD
Backstory
When Lydia was young, her parents were always certain she was special. This isn’t an inherently remarkable thing, lots of parents are sure that their little one is special, there’s a song in the musical adaptation of Matilda all about it, but their little Lyds was always something else.
She would protect other kids on the playground, it was almost like she had a sixth sense for snakes or spiders. She always knew when it was going to rain. She was the playground superhero and her parents were sure she was destined for something great.
When Lydia was out playing with her friends one day, though, she stopped, dropping to her knees. Her eyes were unfocused, staring up at the sky. She was breathing heavily and no matter what anyone tried to do to reach her she wouldn’t respond. By the time her parents got to her, she was back and she wouldn’t tell anyone what happened. She just continuously asked where Julie was. The told her that her friend Julie had left with her parents a few minutes ago. Without speaking to anyone, Lydia raced off towards where the car had gone but was too late, the accident had already happened and there was nothing to be done. Julie and her family were alright but they were horribly injured. Julie is still in a wheelchair to this day.
Her parents, desperate for answers about what is happening with their daughter, take her to all kinds of officials and doctors. Everyone scratches their heads about it until an organization that Lydia would now describe as “shady” offered some answers.
They ran tests on her, citing ESP and other such notions as what they thought she had and they claimed they were running simple experiments to do research on those very things. They were not. Her parents never knew about it because they said they needed Lydia alone to run the tests and Lydia would never talk about it after the fact. She doesn’t like to think about it now either.
The point was her powers got stronger, or worse depending on which way you want to look at them. Altogether, things weren’t too terribly bad, she kept a lot of it to herself but instead of focusing on science like everyone assumed she would when she was a child, she turned to the arts instead, growing up to become a theater actress. She met her best friend in this line of work, Murph Winston being a lighting technician in the theater she works in.
Theater is also how she met Trish, a new musical was opening and Trish wanted to do a small spot about it on her show. Lydia was one of the few cast members who was available at the time to talk about it. The two became friends after that.
Trish never knew about Lydia’s powers until absolutely necessary, when her discussion of a young girl’s case over the radio is going to garner the call of a rather dangerous man, leading to Lydia’s first meeting with Alias Investigation’s own, Jessica Jones.
Updated their ref sheets for the third time! Here's Sam and Trish!
The current media I've put them in is The Mandela Catalogue, the Backrooms (mostly this), Spooky Month, and Infinity Train. More may follow and if anyone has any suggestions feel free to tell me! I've considered making them objects for an hfjone au!
