haiiiiiii this name is leon.......hes a greek lieutenant.......... he's a character played by Boran Kuzum in Vatanım Sensin (a turkish soap opera/period drama) and is also the most beautiful boy in the world.

I havent watched the series yet (i was going to start it just for him) although the historical events its based are really holding me back because its a... rather bloody and delicate subject. which im admitedly very-- predispossed? preconceived? not sure what the word is, but im very weary of how the screenwritters might choose to present the subject.

fun fact -- despite the actor being turkish, he's actually my french pilot Anguillard's faceclaim lol

I think you mean Dara's face haha, but yes you have my mother's soap operas to thank for that!! As soon as I thought, "I need a rugged male faceclaim for this character" my mind immediately went to Turkish drama actors LOL

My family is Northern Kurdish and a majority of my closest relatives live in either Istanbul or Antalya nowadays, so I'm not surprised that comes through in the worldbuilding as well!!

Hi I’m new to faceclaims and I want to ask if there are rules about them and things that I shouldn’t do thanks :)

Hey!

Don't treat ethnicities as interchangeable. For example when it comes to East Asian faceclaims don't use a Chinese faceclaim for somebody who is Korean. This also applies but is not limited to using Indigenous nations/ethnicities too.

Try to pick trans and non-binary faceclaims when you can. If your roleplaying a trans woman please try and find a faceclaim who is a trans woman first. If there's nobody who matches your character because unfortunately there are a lack of trans actresses being hired especially if they're dark-skinned, fat and/or disabled please use a cis woman instead. Stick to the pronouns your faceclaim uses. This also applies to cis faceclaims who uses non-standard pronouns too, there are cis people who use they/them, because you don't have to be trans to change your pronouns.

Try to pick disabled faceclaims when you can. Hollywood has a big problem with casting abled actors for disabled characters but it doesn't have to be that way in the roleplay community too.

Don't use deceased faceclaims.

Avoid problematic faceclaims. Some people have the view that "faceclaims are just faces" but I don't ride that boat. While I acknowledge that problem is subjective I personally avoid using anybody who has been accused of a serious crime and avoid anybody who has been racist, transphobic, fatphobic, and islamophobic. If a faceclaim has apologized, depending on what they've done and how sincere their apology was, I will use them on a case to case basis. We've all fucked up but it's how we handle it.

Naming. Although it's not faceclaim specific it's important to mention that Turkish muns have been vocal about giving Turkish characters Turkish names - same with Brazilian muns and Brazilian characters! Indigenous muns have also been vocal about If you use an Indigenous faceclaim please do not steal Indigenous names.

Resources. If you're using resources please use resources that are accessible! While accessibility differs from person to person please try to avoid using anything smaller than 100px and try to avoid anything that has a heavy PSD on top which makes the image darker, static, and/or non-contrasting.
