The Timeline

Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers came back in the weirdest possible way. Look aesthetics aside, I mean it when I say weird. Like Ugly Sonic makes an appearance weird. Like two characters got together that had no business getting together weird. Like Chip n Dale not sounding like Chip n Dale weird.

You know that bird that was in Lion King? Zazu? Yeah his species is going extinct. I thought it was a toucan or something but nah, thats a Yellow Billed Horn Bill, and climate change is wiping them out.

MCR is back- again! This time Measles didn't come with them

Digimon Survive survived development hell and is actually coming out in like 2 months, and seems like it might be a VN with Tactical RPG elements and a karma system- oh and teens will probably die, most definitely

Avatar actually put out a trailer for its new movie. No no not the fun one with the bald kid or buff tomboy- the one with blue people that have sex with their hair

Warner Bros really weren't joking when they decided to make a co-op Smash clone of characters like Batman, Arya Stark, Jake the Dog, and Ultra Instinct Shaggy. It's real. I swear I saw it. I stg Batman and UI Shaggy really fought against Bugs Bunny and fucking Arya Stark. I wish I was lying.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is announced, and Sora has gone down from a size 32 clown shoe to a size 13 as he steps into the most disturbingly realistic world in the franchise yet.

Oh and this was a couple of months back, but Robert Pattison and Zoë Kravitz were interviewed by a Vtuber named LaPlus (La+?) Darkness from the Japanese side of Hololive, where she asked him how he used the bathroom in the Batman suit, and he gave a fun answer. He actually looked happy

And to end it on a somewhat bittersweet note. Scrat finally got the nut. That fucked up squirrel from Ice Age that caused several natural disasters, broke the laws of physics, broke EARTH- he finally. Finally got his nut. His struggle is over.

Dreaming To Reality: Oneiromancy Chapter Thirty One - 10

Adrenaline rushed through Ryo, banishing the fatigue from his mind and sending his thoughts into a tailspin. Countless thoughts raced through his mind, complex feelings collided and mingled together into a hopeless mess that left him unable to do little more than stare at Zeed with wide eyes as he tried to get his head on straight.

Zeed blinked slowly before a lopsided smile appeared on his face. “Don’t forget to breathe, darling. I get that I’m breathtaking, but I would prefer that you don’t pass out.”

Ryo realized that his lungs were burning at that moment and gasped for air. He tried to remember the breathing exercises that he had been taught to calm himself. He needed to not panic or slip into a traumatic memory when facing the most dangerous Digimon in both worlds… who also just so happened to be the partner that he was missing for years.

Finally, only one coherent question managed to tumble its way past Ryo’s lips. “Why are you here?”

“Why, is it not obvious?” Zeed said with a flourish of his hand as he leaned back into the chair, kicking up his right leg as it draped over his left knee. “To show you the results of my efforts~! This body was designed from hours upon hours of research in human sensibility and current trends popular among those in your age bracket~!” The human-looking Digimon flashed a dazzling smile. “It was mere child’s play for one such as I~!”

Ryo caught the contradiction that it took Zeed hours to craft a human body, yet at the same time regarded it as child’s play, but decided not to comment on it.

Zeed seemed to linger there, waiting for Ryo to say something. Unfortunately, the longer the boy said nothing and simply stared, the more twitchy the human-turned Digimon became. He began to fidget, twiddling his fingers for a moment, before he straightened up and steepled his finger tips together. “B-but I must be honest… I would take any excuse to see my Beloved. Guilty as charged, I suppose~?”

Ryo frowned. Zeed’s behavior was completely baffling, not to mention contrary to his expectations and what he knew of the Digimon from their past encounters. Switching between emphasizing and downplaying his achievements, it was as if the Dorumon couldn’t decide if he wanted recognition of his efforts or for his supposed skills and lack of effort. It also became clear to him that the more Zeed wasn’t getting the reaction he wanted, the more flustered he became.

And… insecure? Could such an arrogant, self-important Digimon even be capable of feeling insecure? Especially to the point that he was fishing for compliments?

Even more, the fact that he wanted those compliments from Ryo specifically was all the more baffling.

Power Girl: am leaning towards ‘rarely’. depends on how villainous they are; if not villain, then probably not. if villain, at least temporarily digestion? if they’re energy-based though, she may do so automatically regardless of whether or not she wants to, due to her powers

Wonder Woman: she follows mythic hero rules, so she does so in the same circumstances of slaying a monster, but she’s not casual about it

tionishia: depends on their threat level and how hungry she is. going with the idea that ogres are prone to extreme overindulgence, she might do so if they taste good or make her feel super FULL

centorea: more likely than not, yes, especially if they are plant-based; it mixes with horse and human cravings a lot, and she regards it as part of the whole point of swallowing someone.

Ranamon: Rarely; its very contextual. she may be called to do it for her duties or removing things that need to be hidden, like consuming forbidden lore.

Blue Diamond: I like to think that she used to be a ferocious and merciless devourer, adn while she’s TRYING to be a better person, the compulsion to simply swallow whole and digest anything offending her on a whim.

Ahsoka: I figure that while the Jedi Code permits this sort of thing (since they don’t have any particular restrictions against necessary killing), overindulgence is frowned upon. This Ahsoka may or may not abide by the Code, but it still influences her, so she tries to restrain herself.

Does your muse prefer lazy, fat prey?

Power Girl and Wonder Woman: Not really! they tend to view devouring as a tool in their arsenel, not as an end in itself, and they don’t have many preferences.

Tionishia: Almost certainly; she enjoys rich, tasty treats, especially ones that have so much meat and succulent tastes of self-indulgence on them.

Centorea: she doesn’t PREFER them, but she likes this kind of prey, but refuses to admit it; she feels that implying she prefers easily caught prey implies ineptitude.

Ranamon: I think that feels about right for her?

Blue Diamond: Very likely! Perhaps at one point, she created Gems specifically to devour large amounts of resources, getting very big in the process, and BD ate them in turn to recoup the resources.

Ahsoka: Again, no particular preference there.

Tell us about a great experience your muse has had with vore!

Power Girl: She once ate an entire sun, getting a massive power boost and size increase; we’re talking taller than a solar system, boobs bigger than the rest of her body, and a power increase to match. it didn’t last but it felt REALLY GOOD

Wonder Woman: She slew an incarnation of Jormagundr in this fashion with her god-buddy, Thor; it was the biggest meal she ever had!

Tionishia: She had a date with fem Kimihito, and her ravenous appetite demanded more and more, and Kimihito offered herself to her; it was a very lovely digestion and Tio was so FULL, and suspects it was the love involved that satisfied her.

Centorea: She took part in a competition where the losers would be meals for the winner, and she won in splendid fashion. She was merciful and allowed them to reform not long afterwards, but she was so STRONG, and her gut so swollen with their wriggling bodies as they dissolved into her, and she relishes the pleasure of that day.

Ranamon: Once devoured a terrible grimoire of ultimate evil, obscuring its dreadful secrets from the multiverse; she actually had something of a tummyache for a while, but it was worth it.

Blue Diamond: After reforming her ways, she repopulated multiple worlds by consuming them and gestating entirely new, fertile ones within herself. IT felt intensely pleasurable and the first truly good thing she had done in a long time, and it gave her a sense of purpose after the fall of the Gem empire.

Ahsoka: At one point, confronted and bested a dreadful wizard of the bleakest arts, overcomign his powerful abilities to consume him. at the time she’d been suffering something of a crisis of confidence, and it reignited her sense of skill and purpose.

Does your muse experience stomach rumbles or burps after eating someone?

Power Girl: unlikely. probably lots of solar glowing, though.

Wonder Woman: Briefly. sounds like continents moving.

Tionishia: Yes. it is VERY loud and sounds like her belly is bigger on the inside.

Centorea: Yes. very, very loud, due to her multiple chambered stomachs (A combo of human stomaches, horse stomaches, and the weird ways they interact together.)

Ranamon: Kind of; no rumbles or burps normally, but there’s a strange sound as they are converted into pure data.

Blue Diamond: She does not burp or rumble at all unless she specifically wants to, because of how Gems work; digestion rarely involves fluids, for example, but converting prey into magical energy to be absorbed directly or reworked into another form. She CAN, if she wants to.

Ahsoka: Yes. pretty noisy, actually.

What sort of pred does your muse like?

Power Girl, Wonder Woman: They are similar in that they don’t liked to be preyed upon at all; they’re big time heroes and this sets a poor example, and they’re too fierce to easily have the submissive mindset that characterizes prey in one way or another. you must be WORTHY to do so, but their definitions vary; Power Girl thinks you must be strong, while Wondy feels you should just have the courage to try. (You might not be able to survive trying, though.)

Tionishia: She requires that you be at least somewhat polite. Sort of like taking a girl out to dinner, really.

Centorea: She professes to firmly disapprove of this, but in secret, she does like this, but requires a firm subordinate/superior relation between herself and the pred, with pred as superior.

Ranamon: Kind of prefers her preds to be cool and interesting, and technologically based; not out of bias against organics, but due to her composition, she’s only likely to experience anything if they are able to process data. (Which CAN happen with powerful organic preds anyway, but she’s not aware of this.)

Blue Diamond: She does not like to be eaten. She is still proud and mighty, and sees herself as far above the likes of prey!

Ahsoka: Someone who is very much NOT dark side-aligned, emotionally speaking, tends to fit the bill.

How many times has your muse been digested or inside a pred’s stomach?

Wonder Woman: Rarely. It’s happened a few times, and its treated as the mutually exclusive deaths of heroes in ancient myths, but she’s loath to have repeats.

Power Girl: A few villains have managed it, and some heroines as well; tends to get her miffed, too.

Tionishia: Reasonably common, though they must be pretty big or voracious to contain so much ogre inside them! She thinks its cuddly and sweet.

Centorea: She’s more common a predator than prey, but it’s happened; once by fem!Kimihito, Rachnera and Tio, and most frequently by Miia, who is now sporting a REALLY big pair of boobs that was once Centorea’s physical body in previous times.

Ranamon: She’s embarassed to admit that she’s frequiently called to upload viruses to enemy servers or networks, and this involves getting ‘eaten’ by manifestations of those servers in the digital realm.

Blue Diamond: she’s bigger than a planet even when she’s not trying, and can be considered a goddess by most standards; it’s RARE. but it can happen! (Rose Quartz and Connie have both done it, on separate occasions.) She doesn’t approve of being reminded of it!

Ahsoka: If the Jedi have vore duels, she’s probably lost a fair number of times, though not in recent times. in her travels, she’s lost her fair share of consumption battles, so she’s familiar with the inside of guts.

I’d,,, really like to do some digimon rp again. To be frank, I have approximately zero desire to do so on tumblr. But I do want to do it! If anyone has platform suggestions, I’m all ears, but for now...

personal realtalk time:

I know covid has wrecked everyone’s year, but holy shit my year is wrecked. I’m usually at home most of the time anyways, but the few social things or special events I do are extremely important to me. My grad school residency happened over zoom, which was incredibly depressing. This really cool fantasy lit conference I’ve gone to the past few years has been postponed to Oct 2021 instead (as it should be, but a bummer).

(oh also? I was provided a full scholarship to it this time around, for my programming proposal on redemption arcs. I was very very excited to present, and still will next year... it’s SirensCon, btw, now that I’m just rambling about shit)

And, ha, I didn’t think it would happen, but we got cleared to go to Croatia end of the month for a few weeks to visit family and attend a cousin’s wedding. Which I was a little twitchy about, but that doesn’t matter, because some folks in my dad’s village caught the ‘rona which means no way in hell. So far, my family isn’t sick, so I’m praying they’ll at least be safe. But yeah, was just cancelled approx three days after it got confirmed.

Plus, obviously no anime cons are happening (again, good, still sucks). All my friends live in pgh or nyc, and I’m in buttfuck nowhere CT living at home with my parents and have not had outside human affection since Feb.

I just miss people. I’m bored out of my skull whenever I’m not frantically working on my thesis. RP has always been a place of community and friendship and joy for me, and honestly it seems some of my older, darker, edgier muses have reawakened with my plummeting mood. Not that my entire life is miserable, I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made, but isolation is hard.

I’d love to make stories with people who care as much about this asshole as I do, canon or otherwise. AUs are my lifeblood. Apologies for this totally obnoxious whine/vent, but that’s why there’s a readmore.

Anyways. I’m findable. If reaching out isn’t a thing you’re comfortable with but you’d maybe like to RP with me, like this post? I’ll check back more regularly for awhile to see if anyone did.

Corpse, Potion, Plush and Lullaby?

Corpse: something you would love to do but can’t- I’ve always wanted to be in a band, most likely guitar/vocals though I’ve also always wanted to play the drums. Unfortunately I have very twitchy fingers and weird hands that make playing most instruments really difficult - also bad rhythm hah.

Potion: something you’d change about humanity- Just be fucking kind to each other god damn it. Like all the time, not just some of the time.

Plush: your favourite childhood toy- Favourite to cuddle was a Golden Labrador plushie called Goldie, but favourite overall toy was probably my Digimon Virtual Pet.

Lullaby: songs you love to sing- I sing quite a lot but only when there’s no one else to hear - unless I’m extremely comfortable around you. Some of the favourites to sing are probably Død Manns Tango, Sweet Charity (or anything else from that album) and just... a lot of songs from musicals (e.g. a, b, c)

my muse cannot stand being around strange/unknown holy spec digimon for long. She feels on edge and twitchy even if they don’t mean harm to her. As someone who does have a high amount of empathy and good character judge, they’re the one type she cant seem to get a read on, as well as being one of the few types that can breach through her natural defenses and cause her massive harm straight off the bat.

This doesn’t mean she wont give them a chance, but they usually have been the types to attack her and drive her off the most in her travels, which has given her a bit of a bitter generalisation of them overall.

As soon as and if they do gain her trust, she will warm up. But she will probably still be a little nervous and shy.

Digimon Stage Play - Part One

Sorry, my friend introduced me to Tiger and Bunny, which is why this was delayed ;;; This is everything up until curtain for half time, rest will be up within the next 12 hours, sorry!!! Aight, so tl;dr: great show, actors are perfect, Yamato is beautiful beyond belief, Mimi is UGHHHHHH in the good way and I’m bitter that the whole show isn’t sold out and whoever was in charge of promotion should be forced to eat nothing but the hottest of hot chillies for the rest of their life.

Venue/Goods: a little out of the way, small. You couldn’t buy goods unless you had a ticket, which sucks. Goods were sold on the inside, line was small pre-play, massive after. My store clerk couldn’t count to save her life. People were trading, everybody hated that everything was random and there were so many types of things. Friend and I ordered dvd – no blu ray option, it’s being released in December. Had to downpay 2000 yen, which this and dvd only option has never happened before when I’ve seen other stage shows – not a good sign. No postal option, so my friend has to pick mine up for me – poor form again. (Pick up is only at animate – my nearest one is 2+ hours away :/)

Promotion/sold out: four shows sold out. Tickets reduced to 7000 yen, which is insulting for us who went through lottery. They advertised low prices at fes too. Promotion was done badly. Digimon isn’t massively popular, but Toei isn’t small either. Get a cast twitter, post rehearsal pics etc. Promotion doesn’t need to be costly. Fes advertisement (last weeks vid) was too little too late. Theres events with Miyazaki and AiM and seiyuus, which also seems last minute and an attempt to sell out. Again insulting to those of us to preordered. Shonichi didn’t sell out. Must be tough on actors. Promotion video (August 5th? 6th?) is kinda bad quality – the stage itself looks and sounds better than the video may lead you to believe.

Seating: nice, comfy. We were second row, left hand side, aisle. If we had been one or two more to the left it would have been really bad (same if you’re too overly right). The cast faces back/sideways too often, so we saw a lot of backs. Need to work on being diagonal, basic stage stuff there. However, pros of our seating were: Yamato being right in front of us when he sang, Jyou fishing in front of us and making eye contact with Etemon to the point where it was creepy lmao

Play Y’all. Y’ALL. THIS IS THE GOOD SHIT. A+ A+ A+ A+!!!!!! Agumon is twitchy in the start, scene is a little long. He’s basically like ‘my body can’t move/is moving on it’s own???? Wat? Why???’ (both happen, not a bad translation on my part). He wakes up and Gabumon’s like ‘yeah me too’ and some of the other Digimon agree but Palmon’s like ‘yeah same but it’s because I’m not a morning person lmao’.

They all go to where the kids are. So this is set sometime after Koushirou makes the cyber space for them. Mimi and Koushirou talk about camping and Mimi ends up throwing his laptop on the FLOOR. Koushirou looks heartbroken and the entire audience was ?!?!? but sasuga Mimi and Koushirou’s like … well, moving on. Mimi is perfect beyond belief. Right voice, face, mannerisms. I know that’s what acting is, but she NAILED IT. She’s all like ‘camping is about feeling the breeze~’ then acts like she has wind her face, ‘about being hot’ (ahhhh, it’s hoooooot, she says), about monsters! (she says as she stalks towards the Digimon). We then get the scene where Sora talks about the importance of August 1st. While she speaks, on the left and right sides we see actual scenes from the original anime, which is really touching. Sora mentions that although there were good times, there were bad ones too (CUE GIF OF LEOMON DYING BECAUSE THEY HAD TO HAVE IT SOMEWHERE) All the mons wanna go camping which obviously, is cool.

Next is Knife of Day. Yamato sung and you could tell he was nervous but he did really well. Yamato talks technical stuff (music wise) and then he high fives and fist bumps one of the band mates?? CUTIE PATOOTIE ALERT!!!! Honestly, he’s so pure and beautiful? One of the band mates tried to go ‘Knife of Day is… well, the name isn’t…’ ‘HAVE CONFIDENCE IT’S ALL GOOD FRIEND!!!!’ ‘Yamato that’s not what-‘ ‘WITH THESE MEMBERS WE’RE KNIFE OF DAY! WE’RE GOOD!!!’ ‘but the name-‘ ‘THESE FOUR MEMBERS. KNIFE OF DAY. HAVE CONFIDENCE!!!!’ Takeru comes along and talks about camp. Yamato is very cute toward Takeru who is worried a little about him. Very sweet scenes. Yamato explains both the band and August 1st are important to him. Later, Takeru buys Yamato a pink sleeping bag because he’s a shit head lmao

Everyone’s at camp, Mimi forgets everything. She’s adorable. People set up camp, which is cute. Yamato runs the kitchen and Hikari is chased by Agumon because she has meat. Etemon is the camp ground guardian? (What do you call these guys??) He takes their money (OF COURSE) and keeps going ‘there are MONKEYS around here!’ and everyone’s like k cool story. Eventually he’s like YOU WANNA SEE A MONKEY?!? But everyone’s like nah bro we good, so he runs off dejected.

The kids talk about the future. Mimi just wants to be a kid forever, but Palmon says she wants to be an adult lol. Koushirou isn’t sure what he wants to do, but says he likes computers. Jyou really talks about why he wants to be a doctor and it’s such a good speech! Yamato and Taichi are both like ‘well, I like my hobby I guess??’ Sora deflects the question, Hikari doesn’t know.

Yamato and Taichi try to converse later (it’s just the two of them because Koushirou said something to ruin the mood so Takeru dragged him away even though he was like ‘I’ll stay awake as long as you’re up bro’). It’s mostly Hey Yamato Yeah? …. … . … Yeah?! …Nothing -silence- We have a lot to talk about, huh Yamato? -plays harmonica-

Mimi: Sora, you awake? …SORA Hikari: aye what up Mimi: GHOST STORY TIME Hikari: starts telling an old experience Mimi: NO TOO SPOOKY STOP STOP LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE!!!!!

She tries to get info out of Hikari who tries to get info out of her back. They both start going ‘what about Sora’ who stays asleep but Mimi is about to ‘reveal’ who Sora likes when she shoots up and is all like I DON’T LIKE ANYONE!!! They’re all lying down in sleeping bags, so Hikari and Mimi were jumping around in their sleeping bags and Mimi does the CUTEST wiggle!!!

They talk about their dreams and Mimi is like ‘I like lotsa stuff??’ but she thinks it’s stupid and is kinda embarrassed but they’re like?? No? it’s cool to have multiple interests and dreams? WHICH IS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Jyou leaves early for his exam the next morning. Shit goes down and people split up to solve the problem. Etemon ends up revealing himself to Taichi and co. He’s super strong and is basically like “it’s been six years your time BUT I’VE BEEN SUPER SUPER LONELY FOR 100 YEARS I JUST WANNA CHILL”

There’s a gate so everyone (bar Jyou) is stuck at camp. Etemon forces Tai, Hikari, Sora and Mimi to bbq with him. AND THE ETEMON FIVE. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT – ETEMON HAS FOUR COLOURED MONKEY BOY BAND FRIENDS. THEY SING AND EAT AND PLAY TOGETHER. THEY’RE THE ETEMON FIVE, COMING TO A TOWN NEAR YOU!!!

HOW ADORABLE!!!”) and she’s like ‘stop fighting’ and he’s like ‘girl? That’s all I want???’ but later they eat all the food and Etemon whips out yakisoba and offers some to Hikari.

“No. I don’t want it?” –awkward silence- Etemon 1: Eh? Why? Etemon 2: -idk- Etemon 3: Don’t push her! Etemon 4: Is it… you’re dieting? If that’s it… I totally understand…

Hikari is done with their shit. She wants to go home. Mimi wants a bath. Sora’s done with this bullshit. They realise time has gone whack. Tai and Sora have a tiff, Mimi makes Sora back down when she tries to comfort him so Hikari can do it instead. Time is whack so they’ve been there forever, Etemon is like I SAID I WAS LONELY YOU CAN’T LEAVE EVER!!! He then tries to make Taichi be his bestie.

Consider Daigo as Oikawa's new teacher

OMG.

So, fun story time! Peeps here may or may not be aware that one of my many neglected projects is…well, basically it amounts to a rewrite of the second half of Digimon Zero Two. (I swear, I will finish it someday, I just gotta get through all these projects which have kinda imminent deadlines that I can’t share until they’re done. I’m not doing nothing, honest!)

Anyway, (Digimon fans probably know where this is going already), before I got into Haikyuu!! I was invested pretty heavily in this fic, and I’d reached a point where there was a considerable amount of pagetime given to the antagonist of the piece…one Oikawa Yukio. So when posts start showing up on my dash featuring people gushing about “Oikawa” and how attractive he is, you can imagine my initial WTFery.

…I decided I had to watch this goddamn series people were talking about, so that I could lay to rest who this other Oikawa was. (The rest is history.)

Anyway, the point of that massive tangent is that this ask dropped into my inbox and I had a brief existential crisis about which Oikawa was being referred to.

Which leads nicely into my next thought: Can you imagine the reaction of the Chosen if that happened and the name was just casually mentioned in front of them? Like, obviously they know it’s a family name just like any other, but after everything, it’s the sort of name which would probably still make them hecking twitchy.

Heck, Daigo would know about all of this from his work, too. So now I’m just imagining his eye doing a litle twitchy thing every time someone calls out ‘OIkawa’ across the classroom or something, and poor Oiks getting super confused as to why his new teacher seems to have some weird complex about him.

And of course, he never gets a satisfactory response when he quizzes his teacher about it, but there is clearly something going on, because he is very obviously not a problematic student at all. He’s captain of the volleyball team and very popular, so there is no reason his new teacher should be looking at him so uneasily, dammit. It’s unprofessional!

“I know the Stingers want power, wealth and security.” Ranamon skipped as she hopped over a little rock. “And those four empires fighting each other; the protheans and vehicons and whatever, they want dominance. And the Commonwealth are... they’re sick, they need help. But what do you people in the Fleet believe?”

There was a long pause. Windblade of the holy city of Iacon, an enormous fembot the size of a Metrotitan, contemplated this.

“We don’t really want anything in a traditional sense. We are who we are, and we’re fine with that. On some level, I guess we want to fix the multiverse and build something new. But, on a bigger scale?”

“Yes?”

“We want everyone to come home.”

Ranamon stopped. “Pardon?”

Windblade considered. “Think of it like this. What difference is there between you and me, where it matters?”

“Well. I’m a digital lifeform housed in a robot shell, and you’re a living robot...?”

“That doesn’t matter.”

“It doesn’t?”

“No.” Windblade gently tapped her with a finger, right over the chest, and she tapped her own, over her Spark. “You think and feel. I think and feel. We can talk as if we were the same. We love, we mourn. We know the shape of pain, and we build better things. The body, whatever its shape or nature, is just a vessel for the soul. And that soul is the real you, and when you look at the consciousness, and the bit of you that is really you... well, I don’t see any difference at all between me and you.”

Ranamon said nothing, stunned by the passion she spoke with, her words coming faster now, almost a religious euphoria.

“We are, where it matters, the same kind of being. All beings, all sapient life. We are all kin. What does the body matter? It’s just a shell. What matters is the spark of life. Artificial or natural, organic or mechanical, all things that think and feel are alive, and we’re all people. And we all deserve to be free, to live as we would choose. In peace, and allowed to live without suffering.”

Windblade continued thusly. “Freedom is the right of all sapient beings; the freedom to simply exist. And I look at you, and I see someone just like me. It doesn’t matter that I am Autobot, and you are Digimon. That’s just a superficial detail. You see, that’s what we think in the Fleet; that all beings across the multiverse, from the smallest human to the biggest Autobot, are spiritual kin. And our goal, our biggest dream... is for everyone to understand that. For everyone to have the choice to be free and not be afraid anymore, to live as they choose, and for the false divisions of species to just not matter anymore.”

She tapped Ranamon’s chest. “So we fight, ‘til all are one.”

Ranamon blinked. “So that’s what it means!”

“...Huh?”

“That phrase. I hear it a lot from you Autobots, but i never understood what it was getting at.”

“Yeah. Shorthand for feelings of universal brotherhood and the ideal of ultimate love between all living beings, yeah,” said Windblade, a bit put out. She felt the moment had been deflated.

Since Digimons for the most parts (with a few exceptions) has to use robot suits to walk around in the Real World, would "real worlders" have to use digital bodies to be able to walk around the Digital World for the most parts (with a few exceptions)?

yeah I think this makes sense!

the basic idea of beings from the physical planes entering into the Digital World (which doubles as an all-purpose combination of any fictional take on cyberspace as an actual place/state of being) is that they’re becoming infomorphs. An infomorph would be a sapient being that exists as a purely digital consciousness; some powerful beings can just shove their minds into the Digital World, while most people have to jack in via special implants and make a sort of avatar.

Others have to piggyback their mind onto a digital platform of sorts that can host their mind and provide neural function; sort of the same purpose a physical body does, with the soul as the spark of self, and the mind a sort of interplay of hardware (body) and software (soul). Most people do it like that.

This means that most people who are accustomed to being powerhouses in physical worlds will have none of that; if your strength comes from physical modfications, natural/species-based ability or magical skills, they’ll be largely irrelevant here. You might make an avatar that looks identical to your physical form, but its just for show; none of it is functional and operates based on entirely different factors. Most people will be largely helpless, unless they’re cyberpunk style hackers... and even then, Digimon can usually curbstomp them easy. You’re on THEIR turf.

Magic, similarly, operates on similar principles; while the Digital World IS a part of the multiverse and is therefore a source of magic, it’s a very different sort. Most background magic that fuels powers is derived from a mixture of personal essence and the energy produced by living things, past and present. In the Digital World, its more to do with the exchange of information. Most magic will be nonfunctional, because the normal methods to use it won’t apply; there is life there, but its so alien it cannot be harnessed.

Magics based on mind and the flow of Astral energies still work, but the laws of the Digital World may be screwy on that.

(All this means is that the Digital World can be an equalizing field; want a tough bad guy neutralized? Toss him into the digital world with a big ‘KICK ME IM EVIL’ sign on his back. problem solved!)

So Ranamon is basically the adopted trouble making child of the Task Force X. Kinda adorable. All we need now is for her (or some of the other digimons) to optain an X-Antibody so she (or one of the others) could become the X in Task Force X.

absolutely; there’s a hint of them not wanting to disappoint her or make her sad, or make her idolizing of the others seem to have been wrong, and she is absolutely a mischief maker. Fun part is, despite bing the most recent member, she is one of the most powerful.

Hmmm... she might already be one of those? The Task Force members are altered to be even more powerufl, so she may have obtained one of those. Possibly the Task Force created them for some other purpose (perhaps the canonical sickness is not restricted to Digimon but to information and data as a whole, and thus would effectively destroy entire cultures and annihilate priceless records, like a meme version of the destruction of the Library of Alexandria). Or just to wipe out living things in general; infomorph, organic, synthetic, and otherwise.

Ranamon would, thus, be well-suited to countering this sickness, and all variations of it, and this extends to ANY form of metaphysical/supernatural illness, particularly soul-rending plagues that are spiritually transmitted. A good reason for her to always be present; the corruption effects many of their foes employ are directly countered by her presence.

Lilymon may have manifested a naturally occuring version of this antibody, which the Task Force has obtained through her, making her very valuable indeed. Maybe her mere presence cleans up places, removing the spiritual corrosion of past atrocities and suffering so the spirit realms and magical flavor recovers? Just by being somewhere, she makes tihngs nicer. The Senior PArtners of the Task Force arrange it so that she keeps winding up near Ranamon, perhaps as a personal favor, and incidentally so she cleans up the area with this ability.

Question: If Mimi is a Draenei (and later a snailtaur who houses an entire server inside her shell), what are the other characters? As in what race/creature are they?

(note to readers who aren’t sure what that’s about; this is from some talks we’ve done in the past, and this is Mimi from Digimon’s signature look in this AU)

I honestly haven’t made up my mind for the other Digimon... well, I want to say human but given my preferences, that’s not STRICTLY accurate here.

I will say that the only ones I’m currently considering at the ones from Adventure 01 and 02, and Tamers. This is because these are the only Digimon series I’m familiar with, not including Digimon World 1. The titular Digimon themselves don’t need to be changed much, though it should be noted that the Crests and Digivices as they are in canon won’t be appearing her; I have no reason to include them and the concept doesn’t gel well here.

(They are referenced, nontheless; the physical realm partners to the Digimon have cybernetic architecture implants throughout their bodies that allow the Digimon to be hosted on them and run parallel processes, acting as a kind of spiritual fusion and, in the right situations, allowing the Digimon to either manfiest physically or project themselves into suitable shells. The Digivice Hosting Frame is the name for this set up. Can’t think of any particular references to the Crests, though. No Chosen One stuff here, in any case,)

I haven’t thought much about what, if anything, the other characters are and I am open to suggestions or perhaps different species to consider, with a few caveats; they probably should not be too similar to their Digimon partners. For instance, Tai should probably not be a dino boy or lizardman, because its too similar to Agumon and his other forms. They take on attributes of their partner over time, growing scales and feathers or whatever, but if they already are similar to them, there’s not much point to that!

They also shouldn’t be species with natural abiltiies that gives them a huge edge over others; if they are, for example, Cybertronians or Gems, they would be variants that are either particularly weak (such as Gems made during a resource-poor time, or Minicons) or offshoots that are less powerful than more famous counterparts.

Series to look at for suggestions would include Animorphs and Ben 10, for a broad idea of potential species if you feel like doing any wiki walks.

Digimon Stage Play - Full

Aight, so tl;dr: great show, actors are perfect, Yamato is beautiful beyond belief, Mimi is UGHHHHHH in the good way and I’m bitter that the whole show isn’t sold out and whoever was in charge of promotion should be forced to eat nothing but the hottest of hot chillies for the rest of their life.

Timeline: It’s set after Koushirou creates the cyber space for them, but before the reboot. Clearly on/around August 1st ;p

Venue/Goods: a little out of the way, small. You couldn’t buy goods unless you had a ticket, which sucks. Goods were sold on the inside, line was small pre-play, massive after. My store clerk couldn’t count to save her life. People were trading, everybody hated that everything was random and there were so many types of things. Friend and I ordered dvd – no blu ray option, it’s being released in December (average wait time since Japan is very slow on physical releases). Had to downpay 2000 yen, which this and dvd only option has never happened before when I’ve seen other stage shows – not a good sign. No postal option, so my friend has to pick mine up for me – poor form again. (Pick up is only at animate – my nearest one is 2+ hours away :/)

Play Y’all. Y’ALL. THIS IS THE GOOD SHIT. A+ A+ A+ A+!!!!!! The puppets look quite nice tbh. Sometimes a little weird and maybe the cast should have worn the traditional black instead, but it was done well. Agumon is twitchy in the start, scene is a little long. He’s basically like ‘my body can’t move/is moving on it’s own???? Wat? Why???’ (both happen, not a bad translation on my part). He wakes up and Gabumon’s like ‘yeah me too’ and some of the other Digimon agree but Palmon’s like ‘yeah same but it’s because I’m not a morning person lmao’.

Hikari invites Taichi and they talk. Jyou calls Hikari but Taichi answers and Jyou doesn’t realise. ‘Damn that Taichi, he isn’t coming? Leave it to me!’ Eventually Taichi is like ‘it me moron’ and Jyou convinces him to come after Taichi’s like ‘I BET UR NOT COMING’ because Jyou, as always, has exams. Jyou is a smart ass? He’s like ‘Taichi, next year, you’ll be in my position. And if it’s you… well… you’ll be in trouble.’ SUCH A GOOD SCENE JYOU IS MVP IN THIS PLAY Y’ALL. He gets his creep on here and it’s so funny. A couple of time it’s acknowledged that Hikari should have been there on August 1st but was sick. I believe at one point they were like ‘yeah we’re low key looking for Meikuumon’ so they’ve all met Meiko and plot stuff has happened. Whether you like Meiko or not (and the 02 kids), they aren’t relevant here – August 1st is for the original kids and I’m very glad they kept it that way.

Next is Knife of Day. Yamato sung and you could tell he was nervous but he did really well. He seemed to try and do too much of a Yamato voice instead of his natural voice). Yamato talks technical stuff (music wise) and then he high fives and fist bumps one of the band mates?? CUTIE PATOOTIE ALERT!!!! Honestly, he’s so pure and beautiful? One of the band mates tried to go ‘Knife of Day is… well, the name isn’t…’ ‘HAVE CONFIDENCE IT’S ALL GOOD FRIEND!!!!’ ‘Yamato that’s not what-‘ ‘WITH THESE MEMBERS WE’RE KNIFE OF DAY! WE’RE GOOD!!!’ ‘but the name-‘ ‘THESE FOUR MEMBERS. KNIFE OF DAY. HAVE CONFIDENCE!!!!’ Takeru comes along and talks about camp. Yamato is very cute toward Takeru who is worried a little about him. Very sweet scenes. Yamato explains both the band and August 1st are important to him. Later, Takeru buys Yamato a pink sleeping bag because he’s a shit head lmao

Everyone’s at camp, Mimi forgets everything. She’s adorable. People set up camp, which is cute. Yamato runs the kitchen and Hikari is chased by Agumon because she has meat. Of course, Yamato finds out about his sleeping bag and runs after Takeru. Etemon is the camp ground guardian? (What do you call these guys??) He takes their money (OF COURSE) and keeps going ‘there are MONKEYS around here!’ while posing ridiculously and everyone’s like k cool story. Eventually he’s like YOU WANNA SEE A MONKEY?!? But everyone’s like nah bro we good, so he runs off dejected.

Theres a scene where Jyou sees a shooting star. Nobody else can see it. It’s cute.

dumb morons lmao (all KoD stuff and Yamato’s harmonica is live. It sounds much better than what the video leads you to believe!!!!)

Mimi: Sora, you awake? …SORA Hikari: aye what up Mimi: GHOST STORY TIME Hikari: starts telling an old experience Mimi: NO TOO SPOOKY STOP STOP LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE!!!!!

Curtain close.

Part Two. Curtain stays shut. Jyou is wandering around the audience. Gomamon says it’s cool he failed his test. Jyou is very dramatic but eventually he reveals he did perfectly. Very cute moment. Etemon comes out after Jyou leaves (curtain still shut) and tries to get the crowd to yell his name. This happened earlier and nobody responded. He asked Taichi what his name was and got no response either ;;;; This time, the audience gave a lukewarm result so we got called weak lol. He then asked us again and we said his name louder, so he was very happy. The curtain was drawn and he almost got pushed away by it.

There’s more of a fight and we see all the groups are separated. The Digimon start feeling affected like how Agumon was at the start. A lot of the discussions they have are mostly about understanding the importance of August 1st, but also realising they can’t stay there forever. Life happens. They need to move on.

A gate appears so everyone is stuck in a barrier. Bar Jyou. Because he understands August 1st, is in the past, but still treasures it. Jyou and Yamato have a really good conversation, and it’s really nice to see Yamato being over the top and emotional around someone who isn’t Takeru or Taichi.

But before that, when everyone realises something is weird Koushirou’s like ‘Jyou is our last hope!’. Yamato and Takeru aren’t… too enthusiastic about that ;;; Anyway, Jyou comes in the barrier like no problem, Takeru tries to show him there’s a problem and Jyou’s like ‘are you miming something? There’s no barrier lol’. Koushirou becomes distrustful that Jyou isn’t the real deal, so he’s like ‘nvm you can leave’ and Jyou does. Only to come right back.

I’m leaving! OKAY BYE!!! –leaves-….-comes back- I’M SERIOUSLY GONNA LEAVE!!! Go right ahead!! …Really?

This exchange goes on for a while and it’s soooooooo funny. Eventually Koushirou and Takeru leave so Yamato and Jyou have their talk, since Yamato is so frustrated he can’t do anything for Gabumon who is clearly unwell.

There’s a fight and Taichi gained confidence from Agumon who is also feeling the effects of the time warp thing. Agumon digivolves into Greymon, and it’s so cool shit. It starts off with a screen and the music and then the big walls move to cover Agumon and BAM life size Greymon!!! It was done soooooo well!!!!

Etemon reveals he isn’t the villain after fighting. (This is kinda spaced out with talking, so like fight talk fight type thing, with having discussions by different groups) It’s kinda like all the previous villains (Dark Masters etc) all merged to form Venommyotism/ Venomvamdemon who is trying to take his revenge. Or something. It’s a little vague. Roll with it. But since that would be hard to make a pupper out of, Etemon just digivolves to King Etemon. It’s so weird because they take off his head???

He struggles with Etemon and eventually Etemon turns into the villain (Venom is just shown on the walls as a projection) and Greymon can’t do much since Venom is too fast/strong, so he digivolves to MetalGreymon. Being in the front row meant I was blast with a lot of icy smoke/fog, which was fun but also… smoke ;;;

Anyway, he still struggles until Yamato comes along with MetalGarurumon. They get their shit together and Omegamon comes out. The Omegamon puppet isn’t the best. It’s from the shoulders up, but it looks slightly too cartoony. Taichi and Yamato stand on his shoulders and end up beating the villain (duh).

Everyone and everything is back to normal, but everyone realises they’re suddenly in their uniforms again. It turns out that everything from when they were wearing casual clothes was a bug. I guess like in the Digital World… sort of? It’s kinda written off as ‘just a dream’. It happened, so everything is canon, but it wasn’t in the digital world but it wasn’t in our world so time was behaving differently.

Yes.

That means Jyou has to do his test again.

It’s vague on how this time bug was created, as is how the villains came back from being dead. That’s not the point of this play. The point is helping the kids to understand that the past is the past, but they need to move on.

It was a really good play, and I encourage you to buy the dvd if you can. If you’d like merch, hmu!
