Mary I's Fight For The Throne
13th March 1553 - Mary writes to her cousin, Charles V
Sire: The opportunity of a safe and reliable messenger having presented itself, I have dared, however unworthy, to write this short letter to your Majesty. I beseech you, as you have shown yourself in the past and even unto this day to be my help and refuge, nay, my second spiritual father, so to continue in your great goodness and virtue towards me, that through you I may obtain that which for nearly two years past has been denied me. I hope your Majesty may remember the numerous requests proffered by your ambassador to the King, my brother's, Council to grant me permission to observe the ancient religion, according to the promise made after the death of the late King, my father, whom God shrive! Nevertheless, no good results have come of them, and therefore I now make so bold as to ask your Majesty once more, with all humility, that you may be pleased to give fresh orders to your ambassador to repeat his requests to the same effect; or at least, when a season shall appear more propitious in your Majesty's eyes, may he by all possible means try to obtain that the hearing of mass in secret may be permitted and granted to me. I remit myself entirely to your Majesty's prudence and discretion; and I shall be all the more obliged as too many obligations bind me already to you. I will pray God, while I have life, to grant the fulfilment of your Majesty's high, noble and virtuous desires, with health and prosperity. Beaulieu, 13 March, 1553. 1
It can be assumed this letter is in response to her servant Francis Englefield being arrested once more. On the 21st February, the Privy Council, including John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland and Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, note in their meeting "a letter of appearance [summons] to Mr Inglefelde". 2
Englefield's actions are not mentioned throughout the following summer, with contemporary chronicler Robert Wingfield recording that in late July "two excellent knights of no small worth came to the queen on their release from custody, for they had not only been '[imprisoned] but had suffered many other indignities because of their unswerving loyalty to their queen: Anthony Browne [...] and Francis Englefield." 3
Meanwhile...
On the 18th March, Andrew Dudley returns to London having been an ambassador at the Holy Roman Emperor's court in Brussels. 4
Englishmen fit out 3 sea vessels to go on a voyage of discovery. 5

for the ask game: top 5 justified episodes?
oh lordy this is so hard to choose. i'm not answering this with any thoughtfulness just going with gut instinct.
5: Full Commitment, season 2. this is my guilty pleasure and comfort episode because of how western it feels and how much tim gutterson we get :)
we even get raylan talking to dan!! i just love how all the pieces of the plot and characters come together in this episode. this also sets up and kicks off the finale of Bloody Harlan. really the last three episodes of this season feel like a mini movie to me, they all flow together brilliantly.
4: The Promise, season 6. this isn't my favorite season or even my favorite season finale, but it's one of my favorite episodes because of how bittersweet it is. it was the perfect wrap-up for a perfect show and the final scene is my favorite final scene in any show i've ever watched.
some characters survive, but nobody really wins and i love that. it feels like such a real true to life ending.
3: The Hunt, season 6. the episode that cinched boyd's characterization and showed us two flavors of domesticity horror (raylan and winona with willa's heart murmur reveal and trying to navigate co-parenting along with raylan's lackluster fathering VS boyd's abduction, terrorization, and assault of ava).
this is the most thriller-esque episode of justified to me and truly does verge into lowkey horror at some points. it shocked and numbed me the first time i watched it and the reality didn't really click until the second rewatch and by the third time it truly sunk in.
the fact boyd became the type of man his father and his brother were...utterly devastating and really changed my perspective on his character. and he chose it, he plotted it and organized it in a cold fashion. it's heartbreaking and at first you can't believe it but upon rewatches of the show it revealed to me that yeah...yeah. boyd was always capable of this and it's no surprise this is where he and ava ended up.
outlaw king and queen they never were and never would have been.
this episode is also fascinating because you can see critic response to it as a disturbing time capsule. look at reviews of this episode back when the show was airing...be prepared to be sickened by how often boyd assaulting ava is framed as "making love" or a reunification/rekindling of their relationship 🙃
this episode is always difficult for me to rewatch, but i still love it.
on a lighter note, i also delight in raylan being a fail dad and with city primeval fresh in my mind i love how it really does confirm his work over family priority from the get-go lol.
2: Outlaw, season 4. in general this is a solid af episode of justified in the best season of the show, but it ranks so high in my mind because it's the culmination of Arlo and Rayan's relationship. look, the truth is abuse is so rarely accurately portrayed in media. usually, it's revenge fantasy or feel-good simplification that reduces things down to evil monsters and pure perfect victims. and i get why that happens, i get it, most people find it healing and those stories do need to exist i'm not knocking them.
but justified has a complex and multilayered way of dealing with abusive relationships (they did it with boyd and ava too) that actually digs into how complicated and messy and painful they truly are.
the fact we get to see Raylan grieve Arlo in such an understated but devasting way...holy shit. one of the best moments in the show imo. because it doesn't matter if you hate your parent and they were shitty and abusive. you still loved them. you still love who they were in-between the abuse and maybe you don't grieve the person they were but you grieve what could have been and what you never had with them.
1: Decoy, season 4: all-time best episode of justified and top-tier episode of television everywhere. the episode is really the pinnacle of justified's genre (neo western). e v e r y t h i n g about this episode honors justified's storylines and honors characterization. heart and soul and brain all in one go.
it respects the lawmen and the outlaws in portrayal. the writing is tight, the dialogue is outstanding, and it comes with one of justified's most iconic and thematic shots (the stairwell scene).

I keep forgetting to post art ACK-
Okay so!! For my friends(and my bf), I enjoy including their own inserts in my own story. For toh, Laika is part of a small rebellion group called "Visions and Variety," named after Hexside's old art club that she used to run. (Sidenote: it's why they all have black chokers, it's like their group thing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's the two most important members + their palismen! (Click for better quality)
They're the s/is of my brother @loogiballoogi (Milo they/he) and my boyfriend @swapthewoz (Axel he/they). They ship with Eda(romo) and Lilith(QP) respectively!
Rambles about them and their palismen under the cut! Be warned about length haha
Tumblr media
Milo does a mix of bard and plant magic, and is considered by most as a protector to any and all palismen. It's how they got their scars, which they're proud of and show them off often. Protecting palismen is actually what got him his own, Little D. They has a particular interest in the glyphs Luz has discovered as well, dabbling a bit in it themself. He's a season 1 character who later takes Lilith's place in season 2 when she leaves the house for good. He and Eda are kind of pinning idiots, Eda the only one out of the two who knows about the other's crush. She doesn't want to confess just yet however, she wants to wait until things are less hectic.
Little Dude is an extremely old Palisman, one of the first ones ever made. He was made by accident, and his original owner has passed long long ago. He was under the Bat Queen's care for a while, though one day while some of his fellow palismen were getting captured, they tried to fight against it and save their friends, only to fail and be put in the same cage. They ended up being saved however, by Milo. During the scuffle they got badly injured, to which Little D got the Bat Queen and asked for help. After all of that was done with, the two bonded and he became their palisman. They were never named, so Milo calls them Little Dude, or Little D for short. His personality is best described as chaotic good.
Axel does a mix of potions and construction, and he spends his time saving wild witches and leading them outside the city. He lost part of his arm long ago, as he used to have a sigil and tried to become the new potions coven head. It, obviously, went wrong, but on the plus side losing the sigil allowed him to practice wild magic again. He's a huge nerd about history and astrology, hench his jacket buttons. He's a season 2 character and gets a full episode with Lilith, Luz, and King. Sometime later, Lilith ends up bringing him to the Clawthorne family home and he ends up living there for awhile. He's also the leader of the current V&V, as Laika felt like she shouldn't be in charge and Milo didn't want to be either.
Icicle was a complete surprise to Axel. After living with the family for awhile, Gwen and Dell seeing just how deep he and Lilith's care was for each other, they decided to officially make him part of the family. Before the decision was made, Lilith shared a book about human birds with Axel, his favorite being a blue lovebird. Sometime later, the Clawthornes pretended that they had a specific request for a blue lovebird palisman, and that they wanted Axel to help carve it. After it was carved and painted, Lilith ended up lightly prodding Axel about what he wanted to do in life, to which he said he wanted to rediscover the lost history of mixed magic. That makes the bird spring to life, and Lilith reveals that surprise! She's his Palisman! Welcome to the family! After some happy tears, he names the little bird Icicle. She's an extremely curious bird, sometimes getting distracted by the simplest things. She feels like she needs to investigate every little thing, think like ADHD the bird

so. alice in borderland season 2. i have a lot of thoughts. spoilers ahead, obviously.
so to start off, i’m coming from the perspective of someone who read the second half of the manga and a few extra bits - so i know i am missing some of the characterization, but not all of the characterization. that said, while i like the inclusion of new games unique to the show, i’m not really wild about them cutting dodo’s inclusion in the plot to make it work - i think the dodo-heya-agni storyline serves a bit more than throwing arisu briefly in dodo’s spot (though i do love that they just fucking yeeted arisu off a cliff, that was fun lmao). but yeah, they showed heya’s seven of spades game, they could just have easily shown dodo in four of hearts.
or even better yet? give us a second season that’s starts in with the first few episodes being introductions to the newer characters and how they ended up in the borderland: give heya the full episode to be introduced in seven of spades, an episode for dodo to show off four of hearts, maybe let chishiya play six of diamonds and do his backstory there, and then start into the festivities for four episodes. Then, for funsies, since saori’s already dead and we don’t need to do much with her character, let banda do two of hearts in saori’s place, and then end season 2 with banda walking up the stairs to the penitentiary, so they have more basis to alternate narrators (or just pull chishiya out entirely as it is in the manga) for jack of hearts. why am i so insistent on taking more time instead of less? BECAUSE GOD DAMN THAT KUINA-ANN MONTAGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST TWO EPISODES OF “KICKASS LESBIANS: THE SERIES (ALSO ARISU IS SOMETIMES IN THE BACKGROUND)” seriously they put so much into such a short time that i WISH they would have let their relationship flourish more meaningfully, and explain the games they played together a bit - even if they’re original games, it’s fun to see more happening and more thought put into the universe!
with those thoughts out of the way - there were some absolute fucking knockout games this time. the fact that they got fucking YAMAPI to be kyuma literally dropped my jaw in disbelief, and he did a fantastic job carrying it. king of diamonds was similarly absolutely fucking NAILED in the emotion of the performance - two very logical and calculating characters having subdued, but incredibly emotional moments as they play the game. queen of hearts? chills down my spine - it’s such a hard game to translate from the manga, but the choices they made really were fantastic. also mira is gaslight gatekeep girlboss and i love that for her. jack of hearts was an interesting choice to bring in chishiya, but i think it was smart to keep a character involved to keep us interested in the action based on the cast we already know and love.
king of spades sort of fell in the middle for me. as referenced for the entire first half of the post here i’m not really happy that they excluded dodo, but man they handled the rest of the main crew so well through the finale of it. not only allowing his inclusion be a believable driver for a lot of the relationships (kuina and ann, heya and agni,) showing off just *how much* power shirabi has - the fact that a 5 v 1 confrontation ends with 1 dead and 4 wounded, and even a concentrated explosion leaves him still clinging to life. but for all the work they put into showing how strong he is, it felt like they rushed through his backstory too quickly, and his death doesn’t feel as impactful as the manga.
speaking of rushed through! queen of spades. i know this was a show original but damn they really just sorta. rushed in a whole bunch of plot that didn’t really make sense, then threw us into the game, gave us the rousing speech, and then fun cool shot of risa getting nailed midair by the laser. i think with more time for the plot setup this would have been more meaningful, but i already belabored that above as well.
overall? solid fucking season despite my qualms, and i'm hoping we get a prequel/retry/border road series in the future, cause damn the joker on the table ain’t quite the same as joker in the manga lmao

CHAPTER ONE.
Prince Jungkook was born under a set of auspicious star signs in the waning weeks of summer. The King and Queen of the Kingdom were elated to finally have an heir after many years of waiting. The people rejoiced, taking the prince’s birth as good tidings for the kingdom as a whole.
During the Harvest, the soothsayers were brought to read the fortunes of the royal family, as is the tradition of the people during the bountiful time of the year. The soothsayers, in a private audience with the King and Queen, foretold the prince would weather many storms, but his trials would ultimately bring glory and prosperity.
While the royal parents fretted over the hardships their son, only weeks old, was fated to have, they took solace in a foretold good outcome. Celebrations lasted all Autumn season in the kingdom, which was also blessed with a particularly plentiful harvest.
The first few months of Prince Jungkook’s young life were blissful. During the Winter Solstice, the fairies of the realm came to bless the new child. The fae blessed him with sweetness and innate beauty. The tree nymph blessed the prince with patience. The dragon blessed him with twin conviction and compassion. And finally, the leprechaun gifted the baby a pair of well crafted shoes to take his first steps in. As their fairy dust tickled his nose, Prince Jungkook giggled and cooed benevolently. The King, Queen, and subjects all sighed at the sweet-hearted prince and knew he would grow into a kind and wise leader someday.
Prince Jungkook’s first storm came the following springtime. While the realm blossomed and warmed, a terrible plague ripped through the lands. Soon, many succumbed, with the healers unable to find a cure for the often fatal disease. The Queen was one of scores who lost their life that year.
Although the prince was too young to understand, the kingdom was changed irrevocably. The King fell into a fit of melancholy in which he closed himself off from the world, only attending to those duties of utmost importance, leaving everything else to advisors and servants of the realm.
Prince Jungkook’s care was placed primarily in Nanny Yeonhi, an older woman who cared deeply for her ward. The two lived comfortably with their own retinue of servants in the prince’s wing of the castle. Here, the prince was insulated from much of the goings-on in the castle and the outside world.
The realm suffered dearly for many years after the plague decimated the population. Harvests and crafts were impacted from lack of a workforce. The economy hobbled along, unable to generate enough for trades with other kingdoms. The lack of decisive leadership further exacerbated these issues.
Relations with the fae folk and other kingdoms languished under the King’s absence. Soon, the nymphs and pixies were not attending to their blessings of the crops and weather. Not out of smite or laziness, but a lack of an invitation—something the fae need in order to use their magic in another’s boundaries. Babies, humans and animals alike, were born sickly. It was as if the King’s desolation had cast a wide shadow across the entire realm.
When Prince Jungkook was five-years-old, a young boy was sent to him from another wing of the castle. The boy was an orphan of a Duke who had died in the plague. The Duke’s estate fell into ruin in the years proceeding the Duke’s untimely demise. The boy was eventually sent to the castle to serve until he came of age.
At ten-years-old, Seokjin was perhaps too grown up to be a companion for Prince Jungkook, but for the pair age did not seem to matter. Never did the older complain when giving additional tutoring lessons to the prince, assisting with tasks such as dressing the younger boy, or chasing him through the grounds. The pair did everything together, carefully tucked away in their wing of the castle under the watchful eye of Nanny Yeonhi.
~
The second storm of Prince Jungkook’s life began slowly, with dark clouds first gathering off on the distant horizon. The creep was so slow, even, that the prince did not even know he was in a storm until it was far too late to escape the torrential winds and pouring rains.
The King of the realm was convinced by his advisors to take a new bride.
The new Queen Hana brought new life to the castle. Her father, a king of his right in a neighboring kingdom, spared no expense at her dowry, sending a large retinue of servants, a small militia, and much in the way of goods and libations.
The wedding was a grand affair in the summer of Prince Jungkook’s tenth year. It seemed the entire kingdom had turned out, with many grand celebrations both within the castle and without. During the ceremony and grand feast, Prince Jungkook was sat at the royal table on his father’s left hand side. It was the first time the prince was so near the King in well over a year. Prince Jungkook took solace in the proximity, even if his father did not deign to speak with him.
The Queen was sweetness and light. Her smile seemed to glow as brightly as the hundreds of candles they used to illuminate the hall. She even danced a song with Prince Jungkook, much to the delight of all the Lords and Ladies present. Even the King’s melancholy seemed temporarily abated as he smiled at his new bride.
After the month-long celebrations, life returned to normal in the prince’s wing of the castle. Prince Jungkook rarely saw the King and Queen and was never summoned to court for any reason. The prince, however, did not mind. He was mostly timid outside his small circle of people in his wing of the castle. He did not revel in attention being drawn to himself. He was happy to continue his tutoring lessons, practicing sword fighting and archery, and exploring the forests abutting the gardens of his castle wing.
Life, for Prince Jungkook, was peaceful. Little did he know of the storm brewing on the horizon.
~
“Your Highness!” Seokjin yells as he runs through the corridor, his light armor clanking as he goes. “Your Highness!”
“What is all this racket, Master Seokjin?” Nanny Yeonhi admonishes as Seokjin slides into the kitchens wildly looking around for the missing prince.
“His Highness has been summoned by the King,” Seokjin pants out, doubling over as he catches his breath. “Have you seen him?”
“I believe he is with his tutor now,” Nanny Yeonhi says with pursed lips. “This is probably just to do with the prince’s fifteenth birthday celebrations.”
“The King hasn’t summoned His Highness in so long,” Seokjin says, breathing more under control. “I must find him.”
Seokjin turns on his heel and heads to the library to find his prince.
“Do you think this outfit is enough, hyung?” the prince says, with his eye trained on the long mirror before him. He fidgets with his sleeves, a habit Seokjin has been trying to break him of when he’s nervous. “I don’t want to disappoint the King.”
“Let me just fix your hair a bit, Your Highness,” Seokjin stands behind the prince with a comb and practiced motions. Soon he has the prince’s long, unruly hair off his face with the top half of his hair in a bun. He settles the thin silver metal of the prince’s crown underneath the crown in a most pleasing way.
“You look as Prince Jungkook should, Your Highness,” Seokjin says, his eyes tracking up and down in the mirror.
Jungkook is wearing a simple silver blue hanbok with enough layers to denote his stature. Thankfully, he has not yet gone out riding or to the training yards, so he is still tidy and unmuddied. He thinks, as he often does, that the gods must be smiling down upon him.
“Prince Jungkook, dearest, don’t stand on formality, come, come,” Queen Hana coos. She sat regally on the Queen’s throne wearing a rich purple dress. Though her face wears a bright smile, she is still intimidating.
The King’s throne is conspicuously empty.
Jungkook rises from his bow and steps forward towards the Queen. Two steps behind him, just to his right, Seokjin mirrors his motions, per protocol. However, with only 6 steps left to reach the throne, Seokjin stops as is respectful for his standing in the court.
The Queen reaches out her hand, a small pout on her lips, to Jungkook. He swallows down a nervous turn in his belly and obliges her by resting his palm in hers. He tries to quell the voice inside his head that tells him, like this, he is trapped.
“Prince Jungkook, my heart, how have you been?” the Queen says, voice sweet like songbirds. She uses both her hands to hold his, caressing his knuckles.
“My Queen, I have been well,” Jungkook says. He prides himself that he does not sound as anxious as he feels.
“A little bird told me that our dearest Prince is turning fifteen in only a few weeks!” Queen Hana exclaims. “We must prepare celebrations in your honor. It is not everyday in this kingdom a royal prince comes of age!”
“You are too generous, Your Majesty,” Jungkook replies, looking down at their hands.
“Nonsense, nonsense,” the Queen says. “I have heard many good things of your growing up, dear Prince. You have grown into a fine young man.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Jungkook bows his head.
“I also hear we have Master Seokjin to thank for many of your accomplishments,” the Queen continues.
“Yes, Your Majesty, he’s been an invaluable companion to me these many years,” Prince Jungkook takes the opportunity to praise the older. “His skill in sword and bow have become unmatched in the castle.”
“Wonderful,” the Queen says, a smile splitting her face. “I think a reward for Master Seokjin is in order, don’t you?”
Jungkook, unsure of what she might mean, nods meekly.
“Master Seokjin, step forward,” the Queen says, waving him forward with one of her hands.
Seokjin steps forward two steps and bows low. “Your Majesty does not need to reward me. Seeing Prince Jungkook growing in his own skills and coming of age well is reward enough for me.”
“Very commendable, indeed,” the Queen says. “Still, your father was a Duke, was he not?”
“He was,” Seokjin replies. Jungkook is the only one in the room who knows his companion well enough to discern the tension in his jaw, the tightness in his tone.
“And you have been of age for almost five years now, yes?”
“I have,” Seokjin says, his eyes still lowered. Jungkook, watching him, noting the tension in Seokjin’s frame.
“Well, I think being a simple companion, now that the Prince is coming of age, is no longer appropriate for you,” the Queen continues. “You are deserving of something more.”
“Your Majesty?” Jungkook asks. He feels his skin prickly with anxiety and wonders if she can feel it where their palms touch.
“I shall be promoting you to head of the Royal Guard,” Queen Hana presses on, ignoring the prince completely. “I believe that the time between now and the Prince’s celebrations will be sufficient to make the transition.”
“Yes, Your Majesty, thank you,” Seokjin says with another low bow.
Jungkook is bewildered by this turn of events. A part of him knows that this promotion is good for Seokjin, much more prestigious than his current post. However, a much larger part of him is already mourning the loss of his friend. The Royal Guard are stationed at the barracks at the front of the castle. To Jungkook, Seokjin might as well be relocating to the other side of the world.
~
“You must remember everything hyung has taught you, Your Highness,” Seokjin whispers to Jungkook.
The pair are hidden together in the darkness of night under a large comforter in the prince’s quarters. They are not touching, but close enough that Jungkook can feel Seokjin’s warmth. He longs to reach out a hand and grasp his friend’s in his own, but there is already too much uncertainty in the air.
“Yes, hyung, I’ll remember everything you say,” Jungkook murmurs.
Jungkook can barely make out the smile on his hyung’s face in the darkness.
“Now that you are coming of age, there will be many dangers ahead,” Seokjin says. “There will be more pressure, especially if the King continues his absences in the court.”
Jungkook nods. “I’ll be careful, hyung.”
“I know, this is not what you want, in your heart, my Prince,” Seokjin says. “We are bound by fate not our choosing, I’m afraid.”
“I know, hyung,” Jungkook says. He feels the heat of tears unshed and refuses to let them fall. Not on their last night together. “I’ll remember your words, hyung.”
When Jungkook wakes the next day there is a single parchment left on the pillow where Seokjin had lain the night before. On the parchment is a drawing of a sunflower and the single word, “remember.” Jungkook smiles and allows a single tear to fall before he tucks the note carefully into the book at his bedside.
The meaning of sunflowers is loyalty, longevity, and adoration.
~
In the year that follows, unease begins to spread in Prince Jungkook’s wing of the castle. Little does he know, the disquiet spreads throughout the rest of the castle and, therefore, the kingdom as well. The Prince, however, is distracted by his own loneliness as one by one, those important to him are dismissed or leave the castle. To further his own sense of isolation, he’s only been able to visit with Seokjin a handful of times. The visits are short and never enough.
Just week’s before Prince Jungkook’s sixteenth birthday, Nanny Yeonhi dies. Her illness and subsequent passing came as a shock to the young prince. The servants and physician explain that she was old, this was her time. Her body is sent off to her distant family, as is custom. Prince Jungkook is left completely alone.
~
“Your Highness, the sun set long ago, we should prepare you for sleep,” a middle aged servant says as Jungkook sits by the fountain in the garden just off his wing of the castle.
“Momentarily,” Jungkook murmurs. He had spent the day thinking of a way to ask for the resources to create a small memorial for Nanny Yeonhi. He hadn’t come up with anything—yet.
Jungkook pulls out a small folded parchment from inside his breast pocket. The paper is soft from being folded and unfolded and touched so often. On it the sunflower is somewhat faded. Jungkook runs the tips of his fingers lightly over the petals. Then he caresses the word “remember” gently.
It had been at least two months since he last saw Seokjin. Even then, it had been in passing, when the prince was summoned for something or other. Jungkook feels a pang in his heart at the longing for his best friend.
The servant, undeterred, clears their throat. Jungkook sighs quietly, not wanting to seem put out, and replaces the note into his pocket before standing up to head back inside.
Jungkook is startled awake by a hand shaking his shoulder.
“Your Highness, Your Highness, please wake up,” the whisper of a voice sounds familiar and anxious.
Jungkook groans and half-opens his eyes. The room is dark, lit by a solitary candle on the bedside table. Standing over him is Seokjin.
“Hyung?” Jungkook mumbles.
“Please, Your Highness, wake up,” Seokjin says again. “Prince Jungkook?”
“What’s happening?” Jungkook feels a trickle of dread as his mind becomes more awake. “Why are you here?”
“You must away, now,” Seokjin says. He turns towards the chests and cabinets along the wall of Jungkook’s bedroom. He has a sack that he’s adding some clothing to.
Jungkook sits up and rubs his eyes. “Why must I go? Where am I to go?”
“You’re in danger if you stay here,” Seokjin says as he brings a change of clothes for the prince. “I must get you away quickly. I will help you through the woods as far as I can go without it being too suspicious.”
Nothing is making sense. Jungkook is too tired to decipher his friend’s logic.
“I have put a map in your bag and some provisions to get you to the border. If you can get across the border, you might find refuge there. You are so likable, they will certainly help you.”
“I don’t understand,” Jungkook says.
“I’ll explain more once we are away from here, Your Highness.”
Seokjin helps Jungkook dress in dark clothes, fit for longer travel.
“We would go faster on horse but I don’t want to raise suspicions with the horses being gone,” Seokjin says as they head out the garden towards the woods.
“Won’t the alarm be raised once they find me not in bed?” Jungkook asks.
“No, I have already dealt with that manner. If my plan works, they won’t look for you ever again.” Seokjin’s words make Jungkook shiver involuntarily.
The woods are dark, so dark. The pair decide not to risk a light, though. They want to put as much distance as they can under the cover of the pitch blackness. They orient themselves by checking constellations whenever they get visibility through the trees. Jungkook is just glad they have dry weather and clear skies for their journey.
The year is well into autumn and the air is crisp, but cold. Seokjin explains at some point during their walk that he packed Jungkook extra furs for later, when the winter weather hits. Jungkook sincerely hopes he is settled somewhere sheltered before that happens.
The first night of walking passes in an adrenaline fueled blur. Both fell, tripping over tree branches and other invisible obstacles in the dark, on numerous occasions. By the time dawn’s light began filtering through the trees, they are muddy, sweaty, and generally worse for wear.
They find a large rock to take shelter under to nap for a few hours. When they wake again, Seokjin hunts down some rabbit for them to cook and share. Having put some distance between themselves and the castle seems to have relaxed Seokjin some.
“Hyung, how long must I stay away?” Jungkook asks after they finish eating.
Seokjin eyes the prince warily, then sighs. “I don’t know. There’s a possibility you might not be able to come back.”
Jungkook nods at this. As much as Jungkook wants to be surprised by this comment, he’s not. He had been feeling like his days in the castle were tenuous at best. The King has been absent for too many years, the Queen has too strong of a hold over the court. Despite her lavish platitudes, Jungkook knows she despises him, the legitimate heir to the throne. A throne he has never had the desire to sit on.
“Can you come with me, hyung?” Jungkook asks. He also already knows the answer to this, but asks anyway.
Seokjin’s eyes hold all the sadness of the universe in them. Jungkook regrets asking.
“I must go back, it’s the only way to keep you safe, Your Highness,” the elder says.
Jungkook nods, not trusting his voice.
After three nights of travel, which they primarily conduct after dark, Seokjin can go no further. He must turn around and find his way back in order to convince the royal court not to come looking for the prince. Jungkook is not sure how Seokjin is going to do that, but the elder promises that it will be convincing enough.
“After our parting, you are a prince no longer. Go live your life as you have always wanted, Your Highness,” Seokjin says with a kind smile.
Jungkook knows he means well, but he never intended to live any life, as a prince or not, without Seokjin by his side. He’s not going to say that now, though. Not when the elder has done so much for him.
“Remember, Your Highness, you have a light inside you. Those with pure intentions and pure hearts will be drawn to your light. Just be yourself, full of kindness and care, and you will never want for friends,” Seokjin says. He has his hands resting on the prince’s shoulders in a warm embrace.
“I’ll remember your words, hyung. I remember all of your words,” Jungkook says with conviction. “Please, be safe, and come to me when you can. I will be waiting for you. I will always wait for you.”
After a long kiss to the prince’s brow, Seokjin turns and flees back into the forest toward the kingdom Jungkook can no longer call home.

I made a Reading List for the Sailor Moon Manga Canon
I composed this reading list for the entire manga, Sailor Moon, Sailor V and the side stories too.
I admit I haven’t ‘road tested’ this list so if anyone tries it out (or even just looks over the below) and has any advice to improve it I am very open to taking suggestions.
The names of the chapters are in reference to the Eternal Editions which I used as the ‘skeleton’ for this list. My aim was to include everything in such a way that did not give away spoilers and retained as much drama and narrative flow as possible. My thinking was, how would I recommend the series to a first time reader who wants to experience everything at once.
To this end I opted to avoid disrupting the Sailor Moon story arcs and slot everything else in between them. In general I tried to slot everything in as close to when they chronologically take place as possible, so if a side story takes place during an arc I’ve placed it immediately after that arc for example. The downside of this is that the narrative flow gets interrupted whenever an arc ends in a cliffhanger that gets picked up at the beginning of the next arc.
My internal rationale for this is that the arcs are akin to a season of television, wherein you inevitably get breaks in between anyway. So the side stories are a chance to decompress after the climactic events of one arc and before we begin a new one. If you are a Marvel fan, it is a little like getting two more relaxed Marvel movies immediately after Avengers: Infinity War’s cliffhanger and before Avengers: Endgame picks up after said cliffhanger.

Fire and Fury Return: House of the Dragon Trailer Heats Up! (#HOTD)
Tumblr media
Yo Thronesfam, buckle up! It's been two years since House of the Targaryen fam drama first scorched our screens, and guess what? The wait is finally over. That's right, get ready for another season of epic battles, backstabbing betrayals, and of course, dragons ... oh, the glorious dragons! HBO dropped not one, but TWO House of the Dragon trailers for season 2, each one hotter than Drogon breathing fire on a Dothraki horde. Let's break it down, because choosing a side is gonna be the hardest decision you make all summer. Team Green House of the Dragon Trailer: Rise of the Greens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnxB9xZByyQ First up, we got the Greens, reppin' Queen Alicent Hightower and her son Aegon. This trailer is all about tradition, duty, and that whole "rightful heir" business. Aegon's gotta be king, that's the law, right? Plus, there's some serious mama bear vibes coming from Alicent, ready to protect her cub at all costs. Should you join Team Green? If you dig stability, order, and the whole "respect the crown" thing, then the Greens might be your crew. Plus, who doesn't love a good underdog story? (Even though they ain't exactly underdogs...) Team Black House of the Dragon Trailer: Fire and Blood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csSaSrJJPRs Now, let's talk Team Black. Led by the fierce Rhaenyra Targaryen, these folks ain't messing around. They were wronged, their family was disrespected, and Rhaenyra's ready to reclaim what's rightfully hers... the Iron Throne. ranking australian survivor winners from least fav to fav 💕
okay i’ve been a fan of this show for as long and i remember and as an aussie i needed to make this post because australian survivor IS THE BEST SURVIVOR no questions asked. we do have some really shitty contestants though so…
okay let’s get into itttt
mark (blood vs water)
Tumblr media
ABSOLUTELY NOT
my mother always told me if you don’t have anything nice to say shut your fucking mouth but i’m breaking that rule today
i think mark needs to understand that taking credit for your wife’s moves doesn’t make you a worthy sole survivor
also this man only won because of an incredibly sexist jury, while the final three were all rather weak players, shay was definitely the best of them.
his attitude also just pisses me off, every time he was on screen i had to mentally prepare myself. i’m not saying he wouldn’t be a fine person outside survivor but on it he made me sooooo angry
blood vs water was the worst season in au survivor history so it’s probably not entirely his fault but still
bottom tier
jericho (season 2)
Tumblr media
i love his bromance with luke toki but when i look back at this season i have no idea what happened besides the fact that luke was on it so i think that might be an indicator unfortunately
im reading the wiki page to jog my memory and i do remember the cookie jar and that was pretty funny but i just cannot remember anything else for the life of me
jeri i’m sorry i love you but you can’t compete with the others unfortunately :(
kristie (season 1)
Tumblr media
i actually love her, i love that she defied the odds and won when no one expected her to and her jury pitch was probably the best in survivor history im ngl.
the only reason she’s this low is compared to other sole survivors on this list, she just lacked any real strategy. i love her but i just love the others more :(
shane (champions vs contenders 1)
Tumblr media
best voting confessionals? best voting confessionals.
i really like shane’s voting confessionals.
anyway she was fun and her winning against sharn at the final tribal council (for the first time) made me giggle a lil i’m ngl
pia (champions vs contenders 2)
Tumblr media
yay pia!
her introduction as a famous actress hooked me in immediately, one because i’m interested in acting myself and two because i knew how she could use that to manipulate people, and missgurl, you did that.
she was the first target of those sporty kids on the champions tribe bc she didn’t perform that well in challenges ig? but she dodged that bullet so good for her
then she had a little alliance with luke and janine, i love luke, he’s one of my fav survivor players of all time
her being the target for the first vote then actually winning was some iconic behaviour so good for her!
also she was the first unanimous winner (i think) which is also great for her. pia you’re my queen
liz (heroes vs villains)
Tumblr media
my fav queen with the rbf
her alliance with shonee was iconic and i loved how she manipulated george then ended up taking him out
that tribal council where liz plays an idol for shonee and david is like “u sure u wanna do that queen” and she’s like “mhm yep i’m sure mate”
SHARN COULD NEVER (flashbacks to mat rogers being voted out in all stars)
anyway i was happy for her when she won
hayley (brains vs brawn)
Tumblr media
the icon of all icons
i love her. i love her game in brains v brawn. what i love more though, is her game in heroes vs villains. i loved her breaking the winners curse and doing really well in the game despite everything
in my opinion, she’s one of the most deserving australian survivor winners. i’m her first season, she won against KING GEORGE, which is a feat and a half in my opinion
and she’s definitely the perfect mix between brains and brawn like she’s amazing 💕
david (all stars)
Tumblr media
he’s my fav lol
some people dislike the attention he got but i was kinda living for it
him and luke were such a good duo and
i was so mad he got voted out on cvc2 but his comeback was my favourite shit ever
also him beating sharn made me giggle
anyways i love the golden god and he is forever famous, i love how he came into survivor for revenge and ended up winning the whole fucking thing
he’s also one of my celebrity crushes like i love this man
he’s so evil and i love a good evil winner so GOOD FOR HIM!!!!!
anyways if any australian survivor viewers see this, let me know what you think 😃

Bitches be trippin
and I don't mean the females! We out here kickin ass and takin names, making it look easy. Whereas the men, well... we made them our bitches this week ;)
Leave it to Lexi to be a badass professor, wife, mom, pop out a bebe, go to the ER, AND still wipe the floor with the rest of us in week 1... of her first ever fantasy football matchup. There is nothing this woman can't do... ALL HAIL QUEEN LEXI!
Tumblr media
Aaron is a Karen- need we say much more about this star performance? Lexi's roster is as about as good as it gets... unless her team suffers some serious injuries or an NFL player finally gets punished for beating a woman, I don't see Aaron is a Karen falling in the ranks much. Aaron Rogers sucks a big D, but this team does not, so beware.
Miss Commish- what can I say, I know a thing or two ;) my only beef is that I let a newb beat me (Lexi, I'm coming for you)! Now if only Ja'Marr Chase and D'Andre swift could stay healthy all season... *knock on wood*
Baby Dropped Dak- girl, I see you with this name change! LOL! Luckily Niki wasn't rookie enough to actually play Dak over Patty Mahomes, which put her in a position to comfortably beat Jerry and his little Lamb. Also, how tf did Niki land Justin Jefferson? This guy literally got more yards than Dak did... (separate note, when will Cowboys fans just give up already?) Niki is new to this fantasy thang too but watch out for her because she was smart enough to make an objective decision and subsequently name her team after snubbing the QB of her beloved Cowboys. Will she continue to set her lineup each week and thrive? Only time will tell. Don't consider Baby Dropped Dak a bye-week just yet.
Denver Sex Dungeons- ahh yes, 1st male loser to the women, the best of his kind in this league. His experience shows, much more than that of the manager of Staff Infection. Even with the best Younghoe performance one could ask for, Jack couldn't overcome the absolute dominance of the Lady Commissioner. However, Denver Sex Dungeons does play a rather weak schedule in the next 2 weeks... if the male-managed teams continue to suck ass, perhaps Jack will be the lucky one to pull out the win.
Jerry had a Little Lamb- Okay in Steven's defense, who could've seen Tom Brady doing THIS poorly against the Cowboys? The part in Tom Brady's hair was wide enough for the Cowboys to drive a Ford F-450 King Ranch edition through, yet surprisingly neither team exhibited much success in scoring fantasy points. That being said, Steven is an incredibly competitive manager, and he will certainly be entering the matchup v. his wife with a vengeance. If Miss Commish is lucky, Jerry had a Little Lamb will continue to play Denver's defense, and Tom Brady will continue to be '45 years old, man', and 'have a lot of shit going on'.
Staff Infection- My time is too valuable to review the loser each week. Jake, please see the aforementioned disses on your team, and better luck next time, buddy.

A chuckle and a smile from her.  She leaned forward and set a hand on Sansa’s knee.  “No, are you?”  She asked.  Margaery was a bit of an experimenter.  She would try anything once.
