What are the characters favorite/least favorite food.
I'm sure they aren't picky after being starved for 10 years, but I'm sure that Angel said it was okay to dislike something
Oof, it's about time I answered this!
Poppy loves desserts, but brownies and cakes are her favorites. She detests dragon fruit – so pretty, and it tastes like that? Horrendous!
Huggy has a hard time eating salads in general thanks to his teeth and poor control over his movements. Loves gummy bears, though! They're SUPER squishy and nice to munch on.
Kissy doesn't like eating meat or anything crunchy, as it reminds her too much of what she had to eat at Playtime Co. She however loves soups since the day Angel first made one, which was two nights after the rescue!
Mommy Long Legs loves spicy food. She's tearing up and her mouth feels like burning but she WILL keep on eating whatever spicy food there is until it's all over. Also really likes pumpkins! But please don't let her even near beets. She thinks it tastes like dirt. Also doesn't like overly sweet things.
DogDay, unlike MLL, has a huge sweet tooth and can and WILL eat anything sweet he gets his hands on. He likes chocolate the most! Hates having to eat anything spicy, as well as fried foods because his hands always feel icky afterwards.
CatNap takes a long time before he finds any preferences, because to him food is food, but he does love sushi and fish in general. He avoids eating anything that isn't dry and he can hold in his hands at first because he can't move his hands very well, but after some months of training he stops avoiding. Has no food he refuses to eat or dislikes.
Picky Piggy goes vegan. She can't even smell meat for the first few months without risking a panic attack! Loves anything that has potatoes in it though, it's always a 10/10 to her.
Bubba loves curry. He doesn't know why, but it sure makes him happy! Hates beans in general, though, because he always eats them on groups of 4 and he has to make some mental math in order to see if he should add more or not.
Kickin likes pastel. Angel managed to make some and told him it's a brazilian food. Kickin fell in love and can't get enough of it. Also really likes sushi! Hates spicy food and plates that are just green. Spicy because of sensory overload, green because he likes more variety.
Craftycorn LOVES pie, it's the best food ever to her. Hates anything that takes too much work for her to chew or cut because it reminds her a bit of how things were back at the factory.
Bobby Bearhug loves bacon and eggs. And just eggs in general. Also salad. salad with eggs added is something she adores, girl can't get enough. Just please don't ask her to eat fish, she hates those!
Hoppy loves corn and burguers in general. She's stimming everytime she has the opportunity to do so. Hates soup though.
Miss Delight avoids meat in general, but doesn't refuse to eat it. She loves jelly though! She thinks it looks and tastes SO good, she's stimming every time she can eat one, much like how Hoppy is with her food.
Boxy Boo still likes meat, but is horrified at the things Picky makes that LOOK like meat but AREN'T. He feels like a fool, staring at her in disbelief while Hoppy is laughing her ass off.
Bunzo Bunny isn't allowed to be alone near corn or candy anymore because he can and will eat even if not hungry. Ironically doesn't like carrots at all.
PJ Pug-a-Pillar loves cooked veggies and is often following Picky around when she's cooking. He doesn't like chocolate, though.
Angel loves cooked veggies and pasta. They're used to making them because it was easy to do and super tasty, but after becoming a parent it's just comfort instead of "I have no energy to do more" food. Also hates dragon fruit, same reasons as Poppy.
Prototype, like Bubba, LOVES curry. Doesn't have a least favorite food though!

Which foods to eat and avoid during pregnancy?
Pregnant women need to ensure that their diet provides enough nutrients and energy for the baby to develop and grow properly. They also need to make sure that her body is healthy enough to deal with the changes that are occurring.
For a healthy pregnancy, the mother’s diet needs to be balanced and nutritious – this involves the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, and consuming a wide variety of plants like vegetables, and fruits.
Some women’s diets may be impacted by ethical beliefs, religious requirements, or health conditions, so checking with a doctor is an important part of planning a pregnancy diet.
Rules
As mentioned above, the mother should follow a varied, balanced, and nutritious diet, and it must include:
Fruit and vegetables
Aim for five portions of fruit and vegetables per day. They may be in the form of juice, dried, canned, frozen, or fresh. Fresh and frozen (if frozen soon after picking) produce usually have higher levels of vitamins and other nutrients.
Experts stress that eating fruit is usually better for you than just drinking the juice, as natural sugar levels in juice are very high. Consider vegetable juices like carrot or wheatgrass for dense nutrition.
Starchy carbohydrate-rich foods
Starchy carbohydrate-rich foods include potatoes, rice, pasta, and bread. Carbohydrates are high in energy, and are therefore an important component of a good pregnancy diet.
Protein
Healthful, animal-sourced proteins include fish, lean meat, and chicken, as well as eggs. All pregnant women and especially vegans should consider the following foods as good sources of protein:
Quinoa – known as a “complete protein,” it includes all the essential amino acids.
Tofu and soy products.
Beans, lentils, legumes, nuts, seeds, and nut butters are a good source of protein and iron.
British and Brazilian researchers reported in the journal PLoS ONE that pregnant women who ate seafood had lower levels of anxiety compared with those who did not. Pregnant mothers who never consumed seafood had a 53 percent greater risk of suffering from high levels of anxiety, the authors wrote.
Fats
Fats should not make up more than 30 percent of a pregnant woman’s diet. Researchers from the University of Illinois reported in the Journal of Physiology that a high-fat diet may genetically program the baby for future diabetes.
Fiber
Wholegrain foods, such as wholemeal bread, wild rice, wholegrain pasta, pulses like beans and lentils, fruit, and vegetables are rich in fiber.
Tumblr media
Women have a higher risk of developing constipation during pregnancy; eating plenty of fiber is effective in minimizing that risk. Studies have shown that eating plenty of fiber during pregnancy reduces the risk or severity of hemorrhoids, which also become more common as the fetus grows.
Calcium
It is important to have a healthy daily intake of calcium. Dairy foods, such as cheese, milk, and yogurt are rich in calcium. If the mother is vegan, she should consider the following calcium-rich foods; calcium-fortified soymilk and other plant milks and juices, calcium-set tofu, soybeans, bok choy, broccoli, collards, Chinese cabbage, okra, mustard greens, beans, kale, and soynuts.
Zinc
Zinc is a vital trace element. It plays a major role in normal growth and development, cellular integrity, and several biological functions including nucleic acid metabolism and protein synthesis.
Since all these functions are involved in growth and cell division, zinc is important for the development of the fetus. The best sources of zinc are chicken, turkey, ham, shrimp, crab, oysters, meat, fish, dairy products, beans, peanut butter, nuts, sunflower seeds, ginger, onions, bran, wheat germ, rice, pasta, cereals, eggs, lentils, and tofu.
Iron and pregnancy
Iron makes up a major part of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying pigment and main protein in the red blood cells; it carries oxygen throughout the body.
During pregnancy, the amount of blood in the mother’s body increases by almost 50 percent – she needs more iron to make more hemoglobin for all that extra blood.
Most women start their pregnancy without adequate stores of iron to meet the increasing demands of their bodies, particularly after the 3rd or 4th month. If iron stores are inadequate, the mother may become anemic, and there is a higher risk of:
Preterm delivery.
Low-weight baby.
Stillbirth.
Newborn death.
Tiredness, irritability, depression (in the mother) during the pregnancy.
If the mother is anemic later in the pregnancy, there is a higher risk of losing a lot of blood when she gives birth. The following foods are rich sources of iron:
Dried beans.
Dried fruits, such as apricots.
Egg yolk.
Some whole grain cereals, if they are fortified with iron.
Liver is rich in iron, but doctors and most dietitians advise pregnant women to avoid liver. Liver is very high in vitamin A, which may harm the baby during pregnancy.
Lean meat.
Oysters (pregnant women should eat them cooked).
Poultry.
Salmon.
Tuna.
Lamb, pork, and shellfish also contain iron, but less than the items listed above.
Legumes – lima beans, soybeans, kidney beans, dried beans, and peas.
Seeds – Brazil nuts and almonds.
Vegetables, especially dark green ones – broccoli, spinach, dandelion leaves, asparagus, collards, and kale.
Wholegrains – brown rice, oats, millet, and wheat.
Non-animal sources of iron are less easily absorbed by the body. Mixing some lean meat, fish, or poultry with them can improve their absorption rates.
Foods to avoid
The following foods are best avoided during pregnancy:
Mercury in some types of fish – shark, swordfish, and marlin should be avoided, or kept to an absolute minimum.
Uncooked or partially cooked meat – this should be avoided, it should be cooked right through. Uncooked shellfish – there is a risk of bacterial or viral contamination which can cause food poisoning. Some bacteria and viruses can also cross the placenta and harm the baby.
Raw eggs – including any foods with raw or partially cooked eggs in them. Eggs must be well cooked through to avoid salmonella infection.
Uncooked or undercooked ready-prepared meals – it is crucial that ready-prepared meals are cooked through until they are piping hot. The risk of listeriosis exists, as well as infection from other pathogens.
Pate – any type of pate, be it vegetable or meat-based – the risk here is also of listeria infection.
Soft mold-ripened cheese – such as blue-veined cheese, Brie or Camembert. There is a risk of listeria infection. Listeria is a group of bacteria that can cause potentially fatal infections to pregnant women and their babies.
Empty calorie foods – cakes, biscuits, cookies, chips and candy should be kept to a minimum. Many of these options are high in sugar and fat, have little nutritional content, and may undermine a pregnant woman’s efforts at maintaining a healthy body weight.
Weight gain
According to the Institute of Medicine, USA, a woman whose body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 24.9 should gain 25-35 pounds (11.4-15.9 kilograms) during the 9 months. A woman who is overweight at the start of pregnancy should gain between 15-25 pounds (6.8 to 11.4 kg). Weight gain recommendations may also vary, depending on the woman’s age, fetal development, and her current health. Excessive or insufficient weight gain can undermine the health of both the fetus and the mother.
Supplements
Iron
heartburn
Folic acid
The National Health Service (NHS), United Kingdom, recommends that supplements in the form of folic acid should be 400 mcg (micrograms) per day up to the 12th week of pregnancy. Ideally, women should have been on them before becoming pregnant, the NHS says.
Vitamin D
Guidelines in the UK say that a pregnant woman should take supplements containing 10 mcg of vitamin D daily. Summer sunlight is a good source of vitamin D (the light does not have the vitamin, but triggers the skin to synthesize it) – however, exposure should be limited because too much sunlight on the skin can cause burning and raises the risk of developing skin cancer.
Zinc
A study published in the Food and Nutrition Bulletin reported that observational studies, have shown that “zinc deficiency during pregnancy may cause adverse pregnancy outcomes for the mother and fetus.” After assessing several studies they found that pregnant women on zinc supplements were 14 percent less likely to have a premature delivery.

Afro-Vegan: Farm-Fresh African, Caribbean, and Southern Flavors Remixed
In Afro-Vegan, renowned chef and food justice activist Bryant Terry reworks and remixes the favorite staples, ingredients, and classic dishes of the African Diaspora to present more than 100 wholly new, creative culinary combinations that will amaze vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike.
Blending African, Carribean, and southern cuisines results in delicious recipes like Smashed Potatoes, Peas, and Corn with Chile-Garlic Oil, a recipe inspired by the Kenyan dish irio, and Cinnamon-Soaked Wheat Berry Salad with dried apricots, carrots, and almonds, which is based on a Moroccan tagine. Creamy Coconut-Cashew Soup with Okra, Corn, and Tomatoes pays homage to a popular Brazilian dish while incorporating classic Southern ingredients, and Crispy Teff and Grit Cakes with Eggplant, Tomatoes, and Peanuts combines the Ethiopian grain teff with stone-ground corn grits from the Deep South and North African zalook dip. There’s perfect potluck fare, such as the simple, warming, and intensely flavored Collard Greens and Cabbage with Lots of Garlic, and the Caribbean-inspired Cocoa Spice Cake with Crystallized Ginger and Coconut-Chocolate Ganache, plus a refreshing Roselle-Rooibos Drink that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
With more than 100 modern and delicious dishes that draw on Terry’s personal memories as well as the history of food that has traveled from the African continent, Afro-Vegan takes you on an international food journey. Accompanying the recipes are Terry’s insights about building community around food, along with suggested music tracks from around the world and book recommendations. For anyone interested in improving their well-being, Afro-Vegan’s groundbreaking recipes offer innovative, plant-based global cuisine that is fresh, healthy, and forges a new direction in vegan cooking.

100+ Healthy Holiday Breakfast and Brunch Recipes
Bookmark (or PIN) this collection of 100+ Healthy Holiday Breakfast and Brunch Recipes and refer to it often.
One of our Christmas morning traditions is to prepare a big brunch. We open presents really late – tortuous for the kids, but it teaches they a little self-control. Another tradition is to have each of the kids choose a Bible verse and read it aloud to everyone. After we take some family pictures, everyone rips into their presents. We’ve been doing this since our kids were young, and even now that they’re much older, my boys and their cousins still squeeze onto the same sofa in our living room and read their Bible versus. It’s so cute. I know this won’t last much longer, so I savor every moment.
Hearty brunches are perfect for entertaining family over the holidays. Everyone gets to sleep in a little more and the host and hostess can get away with making one meal instead of two. With all the holiday indulging, I thought you might appreciate a collection of Healthy Holiday Breakfast and Brunch Recipes.

Borneo Coffee: Surfing And Coffee In The Monaco Of South America
Last August, during winter in the Southern Hemisphere, the Argentine entrepreneur and surfer Tomas Moche took the off-season to renovate the kitchen and enlarge the space of his coffee shop, Borneo Coffee, in Barra de Maldonado, a region of Punta Del Este, Uruguay. Even during construction, he kept the shop semi-open to attend to customers arriving constantly for his coffee. “I do not want to stop serving people, for now, I’m still the only specialty coffee around here and I need to keep the customers connected with good coffee, so I keep the takeaway service operating,” he says.
Five years ago, Moche moved to Punta Del Este, a cosmopolitan seaside town commonly referred to, with some exaggeration, as the Monaco of South America because of its casinos and luxury residences, restaurants, and hotels. But if Punta can be compared to the certain glamour of the French Riviera, across the rippled architecture of the Barra de Maldonado bridge, known as Puente Ondulante, is the much more relaxed town of Barra de Maldonado.
Here, there aren’t any tall buildings around, only holiday houses wedged among great lengths of sand and virgin wild areas, and, of course, beautiful beaches like La Posta del Cangrejo and Playa Bikini, both appropriate for surfing. Across the charming central street are cool restaurants and bars, local shops, antique stores, and a glittery nightlife that sets the small village on fire every summer evening.
Moche got the inspiration to found his business in La Barra while frequenting Californian cafes. Since moving to Uruguay, he visits the American West Coast once or twice a year, and while there relaxes at cafes after surfing. The vision for a cafe came to fruition while taking barista courses in San Diego, when he bought a La Marzocco FB80 and began chasing after specialty roasters in Uruguay and Argentina, his homeland.
Without delay, he found a wide range of high quality beans from MVD Roasters and The Lab, both native to Montevideo. He also discovered Agustin Quiroga’s coffees from Puerto Blest in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Moche also brings coffees back to Punta Del Este from his travels. Recently, he had Australia’s Quest. In addition to espresso, Borneo prepares coffee with the V60, AeroPress, and as cold brew. Hot Dutch chocolate-based drinks are also hits, according to Moche.
Moche has Argentine chef Sabine Caubarrere preparing genuine homemade foods like carrot cake, chocolate cookies, brownies, Argentinian alfajores made with almond and honey, and other southern cuisine staples. “I want to offer a traditional but focused patisserie of wholesome products like whole wheat flour, brown sugar, and vegan and gluten-free options. For the summer, we will also have light and healthy snacks for the beach, not forgetting, of course, the Uruguayan meat in some dishes,” says Caubarrere, who has a degree in gastronomy from Argentina as well as international experience working in restaurants and hotels in France, Spain, and Belgium, as well as in Argentina and Uruguay.
Moche (left) with a customer at Borneo Coffee
Today, the regular coffee served by Borneo is roasted by The Lab, which besides being a coffee shop and a roasting company in the Uruguayan capital also operates as a dealer for La Marzocco in the country. Veronica Leyton, one of the partners, told me she is very excited to provide her beans to Moche. Her sentiment sums up his cafe’s place in the South American coffee community. “Borneo is a jewel in the country’s recent boom of independent coffee shops, brimming with casual amiability and offering expertly-prepared coffee and food. It’s exactly the alternative that a place like Punta del Este needed.”
Borneo Coffee is located at 20001 La Barra, Maldonado Department. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Paulo Pedroso is a regular contributor to Brazilian newspapers Folha de São Paulo and Valor Econômico, as well as Revista Espresso, a Brazilian specialty coffee magazine. Read more Paulo Pedroso on Sprudge.
