OK, but Vimes never sitting down in the Oblong Office until after Nightwatch. Vimes never knowing what Vetinari thinks until after Nightwatch, when they have a whole conversation just with looks in Thud!.

And Vetinari giving Vimes all those flashy titles and a whole monument for Old Stonface, but then, in Nightwatch, actively protecting the right of the fallen to rest in peace and quietly giving Vimes Treacle Mine Road.

These two men coming to properly understand each other after years of mutual begrudging respect, and genuinely beginning to trust each other.

Okay, I’m at the 59% of “The Truth” and I’m worried. They talk about turning out Vetinari and he’s taking a -ing nap, I’m just WAKE UP HAVELOCK WE NEED YOU.

Also I’m afraid how he will take it this at the end of the book: how he will feel when he will finally wake up and remember what happens? Old? In a middle aged crisis? Like “this would never happen to me a couple years ago?”
