Already in mourning for the eminent demolition of 1001 North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills. Yes I tied the black ribbons on the pole. A small gesture of remembrance on my part after fighting with all I had to save this house! For those of you who know… you know! The fencing went up today and the sign was posted. This house should never have been purchased by someone who just wanted the land!!! This house should have been landmarked!!! It met all the criteria yet somehow the ordinance was interpreted in a way that made it not eligible by the powers that be. Shame on those who decided to allow it to be demolished!!! You have forever changed the landscape of Roxbury Drive and in doing so have forever changed Beverly Hills!!! Just browsing for something comfortable is actress and model, Leslie McRay (sometimes spelled McRae). The raven-haired stunner modeled extensively in the late 1960s; finalist in the Miss Press Club contest, Queen of the Southern California Open, Queen of the Building Products Show of Southern California, and 2nd Runner-Up in the Miss World USA for 1968. One of the stores pictured here is Arnaud's boutique on North La Cienega in West Hollywood. Owned by Claire Arnaud, the tiny shop opened around 1968 and survived until the early 1980s. Not sure what happened to the amazing ceiling light...

Vintage Desmond's Sportswear Shirt-Jacket.

Desmond's clothing store was founded near Los Angeles' historic Olvera Street in 1862. The chain, which had become a part of the New York-based Cluett, Peabody & Co., went out of business in 1981.

At its peak, the chain had 19 stores throughout Southern California. It began as a hat shop founded by Daniel Desmond and grew into a major apparel retailer selling men's, women's and boys' specialty clothing.

Desmond stores of architectural importance were built on Wilshire Blvd. and in Hollywood.
