I will never forget the reaction I had when we first learned that Striker was hired by Stella to kill Stolas. It was an idea I never liked, it felt like pure fanfiction only a heavy Stolitz shipper would write to come up with heavy stakes, and it felt like a desperate attempt to demonize Stella so you could instantly side with Stolas from here on out, and forget his own flaws completely.

Again, Stella COULD have been a character who was a flawed mother, so blinded by her rage of being forced to marry or being cheated on and lost sight of what was important, but you’re clearly not supposed to sympathize with her at all. I really don’t understand how the writing wanted to be complex with a character like Stolas, how he cares about his family but wasn’t happy with his marriage, but then make his wife one note and evilly flat, all because of blatant favoritism and the fear of someone like Stolas actually being in the wrong for once and wrongfully hurting others around him. Stella deserves better writing. She deserves to be just as complex as Stolas, and even if you don’t want her to be sympathetic, that doesn’t mean you can’t write her in an interesting way, because she’s so boringly flat and her motivations are constantly all over the place and make no sense, especially since the show won’t even put the effort in to explore the relationship between her and her daughter Octavia, it’s so funny how this show is obsessed with Stolas’s family drama and yet NEVER bothers to show the point of view of the other family members.

It’s also clear that Stella won’t get any better from here, I think the episode 6 or 12 leak (I forgot which episode) of her and Andrealphus laughing at the fact that Stolas has been trying to call her daughter all month is proof that the writers have no intentions in making her interesting, sympathetic, or complex, and it really sucks guys. It really does. She’s just a tool for cheap drama and for Stolas to suffer because Viv LOVES drama expect when it’s a character actually getting the consequences of their OWN actions, not a Saturday morning cartoon villain, cause that’s all Stella is.

I've read someone saying that Husk is just telling Angel to suck it up and victim blaming him.

Yes he's saying Angel to suck it up, but he isn't saying anything about him having fault into his situations, but he can understand regretting bad choises. He's saying he isn't alone, and he can in some way, understand him.

Husk is the first one who Angel reveals that he had sold his soul to Valentino, and the same goes for Husk that reveals that once he was a overlord and he had made a deal with Al.

Now, the situations are obviously not the same. Valentino is abusive, manipulatine and a r*pist. Al is yes, a sadistic overlord and he is not a good person, but he is evil for his own entertainment and in the pilot he calls Husk to fulfill his favor, making him work at the bar, probably just because he enjoy making Husk do it just for the sake of ordering him around.

What Husk is saying to Angel Dust is You are not alone. You may be a loser, you may feel you're at the bottom and screwd up, but that's okay. Cut yourself some slacks, forgive yourself and start to accept your flaws. You are not alone and together we can help each other.

Things i would like to see in hazbin hotel with Husk and Angel dust as their relationship progresses

- an event happening in which Angel is fully convinced that they will have sex and then husk being dumb founded after which Angel profusely apologises and then Husk just hugs him.

- Angel having a moment of realizitaion that Husks first priority isnt sex, but rather Angels safety

- Husk opening up to Angel/being vulnerable with him

- Husk getting emberrassed after he opend up with him and then just Angel smiling because he things its cute or smth idk

- if theres gonna be a kiss scene between them, i want for Husk to kind of back away to make sure its what angel actually wants to do and not what he is used to doing

- Husk being gentle with angel and him just kind of melting

- Angel putting himself in harms way for Husk and then husk stopping him because he dosent want for him to get hurt

- Husk looking at angel and kind of realizing he hasnt lost the ability to love

- "FUCK YOU" "FUCK YOU TOO" *a moment of silence *angry kiss scene*

- Husk calling Angel Dust by his real name Anthony

The way hazbin hotel fumbles it's premise is so weird to me. Like, a show about a hotel and recruiting new residents is the PERFECT OC showcase show. Bring in a new sinner every episode and start redeeming them. Have the B plots be about the main characters, have the A plots with new sinner residents either mirror or contrast the main cast. This premise is so much fun, it is baffling that it got abandoned so flippantly.

huge trigger warning for who watches Hazbin Hotel, episode 4 depicts SA and ab*se, and im gonna rant a bit about that as a victim myself.

the episode was very well-done in potraying how ab*se can feel, with the fear and the pain causing you to lash out and spiral into self-destruction. it was a bit startling for me, as i knew what those scenes would depict, but i didnt expect it to be as real as it was. i absoloutely hate how i can see myself in Angel Dust's shoes (obviously not the exact same as his situation, but as a victim myself), but i do have to give major props to the Hazbin team for pretty accurately portraying how this affects people.

“All Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel critics are homophobes and queerphobes!!!” No. I’m gay. I hate stolitz because it’s horribly written and stolas is…i don’t know…a RAPIST??? I would still hate it if it was the straightest ship alive. It’s horrible representation as well, another reason for why I hate it so much. You can not say to me with a straight face, an aro-ace spectrum lesbian survivor of CSA, than I am homophobic for not liking the representation in Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. I am not a person of colour (I’m so fucking pasty words can not describe it), so I can not comment on the representation of POC characters in those shows. But I have heard many people of colour who do not like the representation in the shows, so I trust them with that. I will repeat, part of why I hate those shows so much is because the representation isn’t very good in my opinion!!! I swear to god what part of that is not clicking!!!

Has anyone considered sending the Sinners to Heaven might be a issue? Like these people are genuinely evil and there is a huge possibility the people they abused/murdered/raped are probably in Heaven.

I'm impressed nobody told Charlie how much of a bad idea this is. Like the Sinners we see are genuinely evil, sending them to Heaven might piss people in Heaven off because I imagine a good chunk of Sinners have fucked them over big time when they were alive.

Hell none of the Sinners even feel remorse for their sinful actions so sending people who probably don't even regret anything to Heaven where their victims are is a recipe for disaster.

I really try to understand and reread the Ken document to see where Viv’s supporters are coming from, but I’m sorry, all I thought when I was done reading it is that Vivienne is just mentally unstable to the point where she can’t carry a normal and steady conversation without either being petty or freaking out. I think that’s why so many of her peeps and fans excuse her because they see her in a vulnerable state and see her say she’s “shaking” and that she can’t handle this, so everyone coddles her and thinks that Ken must have said something to warrant a reaction like this out of Vivzie…….expect….they didn’t.

Ken never harassed or poked Vivzie, they never got angry and forceful, but when they reasonably give Viv VALID constructive criticism about how she should be crediting her artists since she’s leading an INDIE team (and can’t figure that out apparently since she compared herself to fucking Disney) apparently that was enough to send Vivzie off the edge immediately and think that Ken was attacking her, when Ken said it themselves, they were just talking to her. To have fans paint Ken out to be this needy person who demanded credit in unwarranted aspects is disgusting, because what they said in their document was true. They HAD been responsible for writing MAIN plot points, jokes, and ideas that all made their away into the final product, and the fact that they only got an “additional writing” credit rather than having their name up with Viv, Dave, and Raymond is bullshit.

Viv’s point she had made of Ken’s writing only being in the “early stages” is literally a lie because what they wrote ended up in the final product, not only writing main jokes but Alastor being in the pilot and investing in the hotel, Angel being there for free rent and being the first hotel patron, Charlie trying to convince those of redemption ect. And then when the two brushed it aside, good ol’ perfect Vivzie called Ken an abuser to others, saying false things behind their back while ALSO pretending to be nice to them upfront. That’s my biggest issue. Tell me one instance where Ken was “abusing” Vivzie. They weren’t, Viv is just so fucking emotionally sensitive with zero thick skin and sees anyone daring to criticize her as an attack, and she’s STILL like that to this day. I really don’t see how people can read a document of her not only tracing and not crediting someone, but talking lies behind someone’s back while also being nice..and STILL support her, I really can’t. And it’s funny when some of y’all think that we want Hazbin to cease to exist or Helluva to stop running….no….we don’t give a shit about the shows, we want Viv to get the consequences of her actions and her victims to get justice. We want her to own up to what she’s done, especially the recent drama, and yet she never does cause in her eyes she can do no wrong. She always fucking acts like she did nothing wrong, or blames her behavior on everyone but herself. She’s a 30 year old woman, she acts like a child and needs to be kicked down a notch. She never learns from her experiences or gets better and it really is tiring to see people side with her EVERY single time, despite their being countless evidence clear as day that she’s an entitled brat, with even ANOTHER spindle-member coming out and revealing that they were mistreated as well:

All I can say is that I hope more members are inspired to come out, and not afraid, especially since there are ex members who came out that we haven’t heard a word from, like Salem Squidder, the person above, even Ashley Nichols. People need to realize that wether you like Viv or not, people were HURT by her, and she needs to come forward and confront it, not vague tweet and hide behind her fanbase, leaving everyone to fight her battles instead of herself.

As much as I like Rosie's simplistic design, I cannot get over the fact that the animators can barely be bothered to keep this woman on model.

(Mind you, the top row is from episode 3 and the bottom rows are basically from the same scene only minutes or seconds apart.)

The animators either had no turnaround reference sheet to go with or they finally broke after having to animate the entire main cast for more than 3 hours runtime.

"because its hell" doesn't hold up.

When you create a setting from scratch, you have total control over it. You get to make the rules. You can't excuse a flaw in writing or presentation with "it is hell, it has to be this way!"

Here is one paraphrased example from Hazbin Hotel I've heard recently in response to a critique of calling the main characters too reliant on pinks/reds:

"All the characters have red in their color schemes because they are from the Pride ring and the rings are color coordinated."

While this gives an in-character/in-lore explanation for the color schemes, what it doesn't do is change the fact Hazbin Hotel's characters having a hard time standing out from the background. An in-character/in-lore justification should NOT be prioritized over the overall quality of a project.

As a writer, you have control over the constraints of your story. If you write yourself into a corner, you can't just throw up your hands and give up. You have to be willing to rework your lore and stories to make them stronger.

If excessive cursing is grating and making certain moments within your story less impactful, you should reel it in because it makes the presentation stronger. If your color based lore is causing the visuals of your project to suffer, it is time to reassess the lore.

Just because something is logically consistent within a world, doesn't make it a good writing/art choice.

A setting's rules should serve stories and characters, not the other way around.

I really hate how Barbie, Blitz’s literal Twin Sister, has no where near the amount of attention for their past or childhood with Blitz compared to Fizz. Who for some, myself included, confused him to be their other sibling. No way in Hell (HA) would I have thought that they weren’t related let alone that Blitz had a crush on him. The build up was no where, just that Blitz was extremely jealous of him😭

Worst of all, we don’t know how Barbie feels about Fizz. We’re they close like Blitz and him? Did she also have a crush on him or saw him as a lil brother?? Nothing at all is given to this woman and it’s actually frustrating.

Sometimes I think Helluva Boss (the art not the artists) thinks it’s audience doesn’t think, as if we’re stupid and wouldn’t question the simplest thing.

I’m making a post, tw: abuse, sa

Every single disingenuous “critique” of episode for that revolves around pretending that Angel was written “liking” his abuse is fucking disgusting. You are not making any commentary about the episode, you are showing how little you know about abuse victims. You also show your COMPLETE lack of media literacy around the subject

Poison is a song about needing your abuser. The way that they have you in their clutches. You know they are bad for you, you want to leave, but you feel like you can’t, you feel their poison taking hold of you.

Poison is about Angel’s struggle with his abuser and how he hurts no matter what he portrays. The reason it’s upbeat with the horrifically sad lyrics is because that’s the facade Angel Plays. He pretends to be the sexy, open, very down to clown porn star because that’s who he’s had to be to please his abuser. He can’t turn it off because if he does in front of Valentino, he’s horrifically hurt.

However, this is a double edged sword. It causes him to not only ruin his relationships with others by testing their boundaries and picking fights with them, but it leads him to self destruct. He can’t keep it up all the time. He openly admits to letting people drug him. He’s self destructing, trying his hardest to ruin himself because he thinks he deserves it and that maybe, just maybe it’ll keep him from being Valentino’s favorite toy.

This is WIDELY relatable to many abuse victims. We suffer socially from our abuse, not just mentally. We can become mean people. We lash out at others. And we can have codependent relationships with our abusers. We miss them. We want to be with them. Not because we LIKE BEING ABUSED BUT BECAUSE WE ARE CURRENTLY VICTIMS OF ABUSE. Abuse targets people who are vulnerable. People who don’t have a social circle, and creates one with their abuser in the middle. Abuse breeds codependency.

I am extremely critical of the Hellaverse. But callous commentary on the SURPRISINGLY NUANCED DEPICTION OF ANGEL’S ABUSE has truly soured me to Vivziepop critical spaces. You’re not “owning” Viv with that shit. Viv already got her season 2 and her paycheck. You’re hurting people who see their experiences with Angel Dust. You’re also telling on yourself that abuse victims can’t confide in you about their less than flashy and fun experiences/symptoms. Just so you know.
