A little wip of a new character to the side story, Joshua Rye. I'm kind of tempted to make him the main character cause it gives me a reason to hash out my minecraft lore worldbuilding wise.

He's a wandering trader in his mid twenties and his whole deal is to travel the world, see some incredible sights, and meet new people. Joshua's a very cheerful guy with a very loud personality when hes around his friends. I want him to give off unemployed friend on a tuesday type vibes.

Little side note, before he started traveling he lived in a small village called Springcrest (named after the abundance of flowers present) and everyone who lives there has a flower that represents them. Joshua's flower is a dandelion because it's described as a cheerful flower but it also represents strength, determination and the ability to overcome adversity. It's also just a weed depending on the person so I thought that was very fitting.

villages and villagers

how villages are governed differs vastly, they are a lot less centralised that the illagers. Some have free elections, others dictators or monarchs.

Villages also differ vastly socially.

They have their own traditions, diets and languages. Sometimes these differences cause turmoil.

Many trade closely as certain villages specialise in certain trades.

each may even worship a deity or religion.

Villages can very different in size. Some are huge; others smaller.

profession tends to be passed through the family but it isn’t uncommon for the newer generations to pick other professions.

The wandering traders are part of a nomadic village. They leave their family for usually a week to try and sell some things. The things they sell are deemed very valuable by the traders. (More often than not, they get slaughtered.)

This is part one, in the next part, I’ll dwell into the darker side of villagers and villages. Originally it was a single post, but it made sense to me to keep them separate.

The illagers who live in the woodland mansions are part of a cult. The evokers are the high priests while the vindicators are the disciples. Vindicators refer to evokers with the title ‘Father [their name]’ while they refer to other vindicators, witches and pillagers as ‘brother’/‘sister’ and then their name. Pillagers aren’t as devoted to the beliefs of the cult as the vindicators and evokers are. The evokers are viewed as almost divine in nature, and the vindicators are very loyal to them.

Vindicators usually have very short tempers and can get enraged easily at a hair trigger when having a conversation with one.

Illusioners are to Illagers as Wandering Traders are to villagers - They’re conmen and lone wolves and will occasionally engage in gatherings with their brethren, but they like to perform their magic by themselves - but will happily trick a passerby into paying far too much to see some phony trick. They aren’t as murderous as their illager kin but they still have no qualms with the actions of the illagers. Evokers & Vindicators typically look down upon Illusioners and view them as blasphemous/heretical, so Illusioners typically get along better with Pillagers.
