Grian is uncanny-valley to people who dont know him. He's not an Avian, but he pretends to be. Humans and non-Avians are off-put and disturbed by him, but Avians especially so. it gets better the closer you are to them. But it never quite goes away. Not when he's in the corner of your eye, or on opposing sides. It's just a small prick in the back of their minds, sometimes, that he's not quite right

The life series is worse. The deeper into the game they get, the more unsettling he becomes. Those who oppose him can see an eerily dead stare. His eyes faintly glow, a shimmer of red and yellow like an animal caught in a flash of light in the dark.

I was bullied by my friend into uploading this

WOE!! WATCHER BE UPON YE!!

I've seen a bunch of watcher!grian designs and decided I wanted on the bandwagon lol. I thought it would be cool if the watchers were humanoid figures, but you can only really make out the outlines of them + their bodies just look like you're looking into a galaxy than seeing any interior details.

I only added two sets of wings (one on the back, one on the head) but I like to imagine my watcher!grian can simply will himself as many wings as he pleases (as well as other limbs like eyes and arms)

Instead of the eyes changing like previous worlds, there's a string tying the soulmates together, which are a specific color.

Red string of fate isn't an unbreakable bond that's full of love.

It's a bond that gets broken upon a final death, and it's full of destruction.

Everyone starts with some change in them that nudges them to figure out their soulmates. It's not something they really realize in time though (well minus Scott and Cleo)

Etho for example, wakes up shorter. He's usually a honourable 6'2 with his human form, and 6' with his fox legs. Now he's 5'8 in human form. Usually he'd change his form in the life series when he's yellow, but he's thinking that's a real bad idea this time around. Bdubs proceeds to make fun of him, because he was already smaller than him, what would artic fox etho look like? He'd be around Grian and Tango's heights!

When they get fully tied to their soulmates, another change happens.

Scar, Pearl and Tango all feel something on their head. Something that was growing at a quick pace. They promptly ignore it, because they are used to the watcher's games. This will all be over in hopefully less than a month.

That growing feeling turned out to be feathers. Purpley for Scar, white for pearl, and golden for Tango.

(Tango knew. They knew but they ignored it. They're a danger to themselves, and yet they had to be paired with the harbinger. The downfall. They knew what it's like to be with death champions)

Finally, there was one last change when they found out who they were with.

Grian screamed in agony as his face burned. Joel and Etho looked at him horrified, as three scars bled out his face.

Scar was too distracted by an allay to notice.

They pulled Grian in a hug while Scar wasn't looking. He was swimming in water after all, finding out now and getting a sudden transformation would get him killed.

Every time they die, they have the deadly scar on them even after respawning. They're completely healed, but their soulmate has the same mark too. If it effects their health, only the one that died bears it on.

Tango woke up with white noise. They couldn't hear at all. But that would be fine in a bit, right?

After five minutes though, they looked down to see an agitated Jimmy with furious red eyes. Oh yeah, he must have been their soulmate then.

"I can't hear still" Tango told the other calmly, as if that was supposed to happen. Jimmy's eyes immediately softened. He reached upwards, asking the demon to come down.

While Tango did that, Jimmy took his communicator out of his pocket, typing away real quick. They felt the buzz of their comms in their pocket. After they successfully climbed out of the tree, they took it out.

And then they dropped it.

Solidarity: The explosion left Tango deaf please do something

For one shining moment Grian had thought he could have it all.

It had been foolish, he knew better. But perhaps a fool for love was not the worst thing one could be?

BigB and he had been secret soulmates. It had been a poor secret, he was fairly certain most of the other members of the server had known, but there was something exciting about the thought. Clandestine meetings, stolen kisses, hushing each other as they planned for the future. As long as they pretended that their relationship was a secret, they could convince themselves that the universe would not take note and they would be left to love each other in peace.

BigB turning red so shortly after they had formed their pact should have been the first sign that they were playing with fire.

They knew the world to be cruel, knew that nothing came without a cost. But with so many deaths, they had not realised that theirs was being paid in their own blood.

Grian’s own death came next, to a trap BigB had had a hand in engineering no less.

The universe was never one for subtlety.

This is when he should have realised. Certainly, he should have at least had an inkling that letting the soulmate the universe wanted him to be with go into danger would not be wise.

But then he was red, with a mind clouded by cruelty, bloodlust, and greed, and very little else. And oh how brilliant, he had thought. Now they were both red. Now they could be together.

But Ren… Ren was in the way.

Ren may pretend to approve of BigB’s relationship with Grian for now, but did Grian really want to risk that changing? In fact, had Ren not tried to kill Scar just now, and in doing so tried to get Grian out of the way?

Exhilarated by the prospect of shedding blood Grian had devised the most painful of deaths for Ren. He wanted blood, gore, and death, wanted to hear the screams wrenched from Ren’s throat as he died in agony.

And oh, had he gotten it. So smart, so clever he had felt.

So very foolish for forgetting the most fundamental of rules of this game. Secret soulmates or not, the universe had not wanted him and BigB together. It wanted him with Scar, and BigB…

It wanted BigB with Ren, in death as much as in life.

“You know,” Grian said, sitting on the sandy ground in front of the grave he had crafted for his love. “I am getting very tired of playing this game.”

He stood, leaning on the headstone, tracing the letters of BigB’s name with steady hands.

“But,” he grinned. “I will play it a little longer. You see, I plan to kill them. All of them. And then I am going to burn this whole server down. And after that?

“After that, I am coming for you.”

Weird headcanon, but. Grian isn't an Avian, just because he's a Watcher. Being a Watcher, you are given wings. They are purple and shimmery, and can be manipulated by will. Have more than one set of wings. Make them smaller or bigger.

Grian, makes them into his theme. Season 6, chicken. Season 7, parrot. Season 8, dragon. Season 9, gargoyle/rocks .

Avians have claws, some have bird/harpy legs. They also have vague traits of their respective bird. Liking shiny things, hunting prey, mimicking voices, etc.

Grian is not an Avian. but sometimes, it's easier to pretend he is .
