THEY CALL ME FATHER. I ACCEPTED THE TITLE
characters. neuvillette x gn!reader genre. domestic romantic fluff. an. this is me getting to say neuvillette is daddy in an extremely sfw manner. he is melusine daddy i do not make the rules | please reblog!! im getting back into writing and reblogs with tags and comments will make me want to write more :D
so firstly. the melusines. they are absolute suckers for him. his greatest fans. if neuvillette has 10 fans they are the melusine. if neuvillette has 1 fan it is a melusine. if neuvillette has 0 fans the melusine is dead. if teyvat is against neuvillette, the melusines are against the world. need i explain more
anyways!!! he unofficially adopts them. i think thats just so cute like imagine waking up one day and your husband just goes "im the father of a race of sea creatures who live in a village. we have 300 children btw"
the melusines loooove to help you out around the house! they let u go for work while the older melusines are scrubbing dishes and hanging clothes (BABY MELUSINE CLOTHES!!!!!.) and rearranging neuvillette's hair ties into a little waterproof box
and yes!!! they love to tie neuvillette's hair! granted, they don't do a very good job – the melusines' hands are so, so so small anyways. your husband never dares to tell them that it doesn't look good, or it could be a little looser, he winces – he doesn't want to hurt them. after all, they look so happy to be a part of his morning routine!
they love to give neuvillette different hairstyles. some days it's pigtails, some days it's braids – all simple hairstyles, elevated with rainbow hair ties and seashell pins. the younger melusines love helping with his hair, and they all clamor onto his lap: tippytoed and standing on each other's shoulders. if one of the melusines can't reach his knees, neuvillette lifts them up by their arms and sits them on his lap to help.
and they all crowd around the door when saying goodbye to you and neuvillette for the day! the little melusines excitedly shove snacks, hairties, water pouches (that are melusine sized: they definitely aren't enough for neuvillette) and anything that they can think of that will help you with your day – right into your pockets
a slightly bigger melusine trots out of the house with a water bottle almost the size of her own frame, strapped to her back like a knapsack. she wobbles slightly, looking almost like a toddler playing with adult sized items. it doesn't help that neuvillette is so tall himself. he bends down to unstrap the water bottle and thank the dutiful melusine for helping him carry it. you swear that the melusine's eyes light up!
when coming home from work, the melusines excitedly count down the minutes until you and neuvillette arrives home, right on schedule. they greet him with a cheery "surprise!" as he opens the front door, greeted with the sight of his melusine children holding up a messily painted banner with the words "welcome home papa and (gender neutral parent term)!". he chuckles to himself, assuming that they weren't tall enough to tack the banner onto the wall. it's a cute surprise, anyways.
neuvillette also keeps a calendar of his children's birthdays!!! every week there's at least two birthdays going on so. he makes sure to have a little gift and cake prepared. a lot of the melusines like to go up to him and hint at it being their birthdays soon ("papa!! dyou know what day it is next week?? do you??!!") and he loves being playful with them and teasing them in return ("hm... is it tuesday?"), watching as the little melusine pouts. he gently hints at a present coming for their birthday soon, and the little sweetheart just beams.
reblogs w/ tags & comments appreciated !!!

You gazed in awe at the beautiful cabin before you, eyes wide as you paused in the struggle with your stubborn luggage. “Wow!” You murmured, taking in everything around you. “This is gonna be the best summer ever!” Excitement coursing through your body, you moved forward to join your friends, stowing your belongings in the room you would share with Kay before returning to join the discussion about what to do for dinner.
Tumblr media
A few days later you stepped onto a tour boat with several strangers, ready to go reef snorkeling for the first time in years. As the boat left the dock, your guide began to go over the rules and protocols for a safe diving experience. You listened intently, not wanting a gap in what you remembered to end up causing harm to yourself or someone else in the group.
Finally, you arrived at a gorgeous reef and the guide went around to help everyone don their suits and gear. Once ready, you jumped into the icy expanse and swam several laps to warm yourself up while you waited for the rest to join.
When at last the guide joined you all in the water, you could hardly contain your excitement. Still, you made sure to pay attention as you followed the group below the surface. You sure as hell did not want to get separated from the group in unfamiliar waters. But as you lifted your waterproof camera to document the beauty of the reef, a thought ran through the back of your head that if you were ever to get lost anywhere, you wouldn’t mind it in such a lovely place as this.
Time flew by as you and the others followed the guide from place to place, seeing one gorgeous sight after another. It didn’t take long at all before your camera was full and you decided to go through them quickly to weed out the bad and blurry ones. Once finished, you looked up to see where the group had gone so you could catch back up. To your dismay, you had done exactly what you were trying not to. Panic began to rise within you as your gaze swept the area, attempting to look for any trace of where they might have gone.
Common sense burst through after a moment and you breathed deeply, forcing yourself to remain calm. Having a panic attack in the ocean was not ideal. Moving forward, you got to the place where you had last seen them and began to look around again. Nothing but aquamarine water met your eyes.
Movement off to your left had you whirling around. A flash of colour disappeared behind a large coral formation and you swam towards it, predicament forgotten as curiosity overtook you. By the time you got there, whatever you saw was gone. Another flash, this time on your right. You swam towards it, this time catching a glimpse of a long tail splashed with many bright colours. Your curiosity doubled and you swam after it.
Whatever this is, it’s damn fast. You thought to yourself. Picking up your speed a little, you continued following the splashes of colour until you found that you were approaching a rather large underwater cave. A seed of doubt wriggled into your mind, but you brushed it off. No dangerous marine wildlife you’d ever heard of behaved this way, so you figured you’d be relatively safe. Upon entering the cave, the creature you’d been following stopped and turned toward you. Amber eyes watched you, strangely human as they seemed to glow in the darkness. The creature swam slowly forward until the light from outside illuminated it.
A gasp left you at the sight of something you never even imagined could be real. From the waist up was the appearance of a human male; with tan skin, longish blonde hair and those gorgeous amber eyes. From the waist down, however, was a long scaly tail with large, delicate fins and the bright splashes of colour that had drawn your attention in the first place.
“You’re a…merman?” You murmured, voice sounding scratchy as it filtered through the apparatus on your mask.
He nodded, coming a little closer with something akin to curiosity in his eyes. Perhaps he was as intrigued by you as you were by him.
“May I ask why you had me follow you?” You inquired, staying perfectly still aside from the kicking of your feet to keep yourself afloat. The last thing you wanted was to scare him off. There was a chance he might be able to help you find your snorkelling group.
“I’ve never seen a human up close before, and I thought you were pretty.”
His voice was far deeper than you expected, and his complement made you blush.
“I-Thank you.” A moment of silence passed, then you spoke again. “I was with a group of humans and got separated from them. Did you happen to see where they went?”
The merman nodded, a small smile rising to his face. “I did. I can help you find them too.”
Relief flooded through you and you returned his smile. “I would greatly appreciate that, thank you.”
The merman swam over to you and held out his hand. You took it, blush deepening. His skin was warm, a surprising but welcome contrast to the harsh chill of the water. You struggled to calm your suddenly racing heart as the two of you swam through the reef, heading back toward where the boat had been. Once the boat was within view, the merman stopped.
“They got back on there, but haven’t moved yet.”
“They’re probably trying to figure out exactly where we got separated.” Turning to the merman, you smiled again. “Thank you for helping me. I hope to see you again before I leave.”
It was the merman’s turn to blush, and he seemed to suddenly find his tail quite interesting. “I’d like that.” He said softly. “If the sea gods find it favourable, that is.”
“Let’s hope they do then.” You said cheekily, giving him a small wave before swimming over to the boat.
The instant your head came above water you heard a mix of shouting and cheering from your guide and the other divers. Grinning, you let them help you aboard and explained what happened. You left the merman out of your story, saying instead that you remembered the general direction the boat was in and decided that returning there was your safest bet.
Tumblr media
For the next week or so, the mysterious merman was nearly all you thought about. Your friends commented on your uncharacteristic absentmindedness, but you brushed it off as being enthralled by the beauty of coral reef you’d been to.
Halfway into the next week, you decided to head into town and see if you could find a coffee shop anywhere. And find one you did: Blue Hour, a quaint little place with a cosy aura that reminded you of home. A tall, handsome man was behind the counter, his nametag reading “Yeonjun”. He was very talkative and friendly, keeping you entertained while you waited for your order.
As you were turning to leave, your eyes landed on a familiar head of blonde hair and you stopped in your tracks. At about the same time those bright amber eyes landed on you and he, too, stopped walking.
He had legs now. That was the first thing you realised after getting over your initial shock. And as he got closer to you, a smattering of freckles across his nose and cheeks became clear. And here I thought he couldn’t get any more good-looking. You mused, feeling your face heat.
The smile that bloomed on his face was heart-stopping, bringing up a smile of your own unbidden.
“Would you like to sit and talk?” You asked, motioning to one of the sheltered tables outside the coffee shop. He nodded and followed you to one of the more secluded tables.
Once the two of you were seated, he spoke. “My name is Felix. You left before I could tell you.”
“It’s lovely to see you again Felix. My name is Y/N.”
“A pretty name for a pretty human.” Felix stated, gazing deeply into your eyes.
A blush coating your cheeks, you stuttered out your thanks. Then, clearing your throat, you changed the subject.
“Should I be concerned about you following me?” You asked, a teasing lilt to your voice.
The blonde’s smile morphed into a smirk. “Maybe.” He teased back.
You giggled, feeling strangely at ease with Felix despite barely knowing him.
“So, can you stay in this form for as long as you wish, or will you turn into a pumpkin at midnight?”
Felix laughed, a sweet sound that made your stomach fill with butterflies. “As much as I would love for it to be the latter, I am able to stay like this for as long as I want.”
The two of you talked for the better part of an hour, the time flying by so quickly you weren’t even aware until you noticed the sun had begun to set. Before you could even think about leaving, Felix took your hand in his, skin just as warm as the day you first met.
“Before you leave, could I show you something?”
Intrigued, you nodded. “Sure. What is it?”
The merman’s smile was almost blinding. “That is a surprise.”
“Ooooo, now I really want to know!”
Tumblr media
“Felix, are you sure I can’t look yet? I’m gonna trip and fall!”
“Don’t worry Y/N-ah. I’m not gonna let you get hurt, I promise.”
“Okay, I think this is good. You can look now.”
Opening your eyes, you let out an awed breath as you took in the sight before you.
Standing knee deep in the chilly ocean, you were surrounded by a coral reef that was completely bioluminescent. Everywhere you looked, things were glowing: fish, coral formations, even the vegetation.
“Felix, I-It’s beautiful! I’ve never seen anything like it in my life!” You turned to him, eyes reflecting the light around you. “How is this even happening?”
“It’s mer magic.” He explained with a wide grin. “This is where I live.”
Your mouth fell open, heart swelling. Did he really trust you this much, that he was willing to show you his home?
“I brought you here for a reason.” Felix said quietly, taking hold of both hands and pulling you close to him. “Ever since that day we met I haven’t been able to get you out of my head. I came to that coffee shop every day, just hoping to run into you.”
You listened raptly, the bubble of joy inside you growing with each word. Was this going where you thought it was?
“What I’m trying to say is, I really like you Y/N and I wish you didn’t have to leave.”
“Oh Felix…” You put your hands on his shoulder and returned his deep gaze. “I feel the same way. I’ve never felt like this towards anyone before, and there’s no way in hell I’m letting you go. Whatever it takes, I promise I’ll do my best to work something out.”
“I’m gonna hold you to that, my sweet human.”
His lips met yours and fireworks exploded behind your eyelids.

The Smallest Things - Part 1
Tumblr media
Summary: A chance encounter on the first day of your new job leads to something wonderful and unexpected.
Pairing: Harrison Knott x Plus Size!Librarian!F!Reader
Word Count: 2.1K
Rating: Gen, but future chapters will be explicit and include the reader’s loss of virginity to Harrison, 18+ only. In this chapter there is blood, minor injury to the reader, fluff and references to body insecurity issues.
A/N: Thank you N and @callsign-phoenix for beta’ing, @skvatnavle for the title and @callsignhurricane for the beautiful banner. Please comment and reblog if you enjoyed this story. Your interactions keep me writing and inspired.
It’s your first day at your dream job, the one you’ve been working toward since you were 10 years old. The reason you slugged through minimum wage jobs to earn a master's in library science. Your outfit was meticulously picked out days in advance, a smart dress and blazer with sensible shoes.Your new leather satchel is full of everything you could possibly need, including lunch. You’re ready for this, excited to meet your colleagues and make a good impression.
It’s all going great, right up to the moment where you lose your footing walking up the stairs, and you bite it, pitching forward unexpectedly. Your palms sting when they make contact and drag against the steps. Pain shoots up your shin, your knee throbs and tears sting your eyes… And on top of that, the bag on your shoulder slips from your grasp. When you glance down at your leg there’s so much blood you have to look away. Your only saving grace is that you discarded your coffee cup back in the metro station, otherwise, you’d be in an even sorrier state.
Eyes closed, you suck in a pained breath. You absolutely cannot cry, not today of all days because your mascara isn’t waterproof and you don’t want to show up looking like an injured raccoon on your first day. Breathe, just breathe, you tell yourself until the pressure subsides. Only once you have the flimsiest grasp on your emotions do you open your eyes, hands shaking. They hurt but there isn't any blood. Your leg, however… What were you supposed to do to stem the bleeding? You can't use your dress and the most you had in your bag, wherever it was, was tissues.
“Oh, that looks nasty,” a new voice says. You blink up at the man who spoke, his large frame blocking out the morning sun. “You okay?” He asks.
“I’m fine,” you grit out, feeling even more embarrassed when you realize how handsome the stranger is. He’s got startling blue eyes and golden hair that falls in a soft wave across his brow. When he looks away from your face to focus on your leg you’re suddenly aware of how you’re sprawled out… Your dress is flipped up to expose your thick thighs. Mortified, you quickly tug the hem and pull it down.
The man squats beside you, his face nearly level with yours. His hand hovers over your shin and he smiles at you. “I’m a doctor, can I help?” When you hesitate he tilts his head to the side, his face softening. “I promise that’s not a weird line. I’m still in residency but very much a doctor. I have a first aid kit in my bag.”
“Okay,” you agree, fingernails digging little crescent moons into the palm of your hands.
“I’m Harrison, by the way.”
You introduce yourself when he kneels beside you. He searches through his bag, pulling out a pair of latex gloves and snapping them on, then one hand curls around your ankle, urging you to straighten your leg. The other gently wipes away the blood. Although his touch is light you still wince, but he's quick to apologize and you feel his thumb stroke the little hollow behind your ankle bone.
“Sorry. It’s gonna be worse when I disinfect it,” he warns. He picks up a little bottle and mists it over your scrape which stings more than you expected, a fiery sort of pain radiating through your skin. You flinch and almost kick free of his grasp when he wipes it away, but he manages to hold you still. “Easy,” he says.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper, clenching your jaw.
“It’s alright. As long as you don’t bite me this won't be my worst patient interaction,” he tells you, smiling.
A surprised laugh escapes from your chest and you meet his eyes. Your heart speeds up and for a moment the pain in your leg is all but forgotten… He’s just so beautiful. The corner of his mouth lifts and you feel warm all over.
“So,” Harrison says, clearing his throat as he continues to work, "what do you do when you’re not tripping upstairs?”
“I’m a -uh- librarian,” you tell him, gritting your teeth when he starts to bandage your leg. “Today’s actually my first day.”
“Well, first days should always be memorable,” he tells you, smoothing down the edge of the bandage so it lays flat. “At least you’ll get some sympathy points from your coworkers."
“I guess,” you agree quietly, half afraid to bend your leg and stand up.
“Come on, let’s get you vertical,” Harrison says, grasping your arm.
Before you can stop him he gently helps you stand with him. You’re half impressed by how easily he pulls you up while the other part of your mind worries over him now knowing just how heavy you are. When you wobble he grasps your other shoulder, his arm curling across your back. He feels warm and solid against you.
“Take a moment,” he urges.
You close your eyes and nod, breathing deeply. Even though something in your knee aches you’re able to put weight on your leg without an issue. You take a hesitant step away from him, his grip loosening to let you.
“I think I’m okay.” You glance back at him, holding eye contact even though it makes your stomach twist. “Thank you for your help. That was… really kind.”
His smile is immediate and beautiful. “Hippocratic oath,” he reminds you. “I’m sure you’ll be fine on your own but it would ease my mind if I could make sure you got inside okay.”
You hesitate, part of you is enjoying his attention and how kind he is but you want to go lick your wounds in private and not embarrass yourself further. Harrison seems to pick up on your hesitation and draws back, but you don’t want him to leave just yet.
“Okay,” you blurt out. “I need to find my bag,” you continue, dismayed when you spy it on the bottom of the steps, half its contents spilled out on the ground.
Before you can take a step, Harrison stops you with a hand on your arm and another unfairly gorgeous smile. You feel silly and self conscious as you wait on the steps for him to retrieve your bag. He puts everything back in your satchel carefully before hooking the strap over his shoulder and jogging back to join you.
“Alright, come on,” he encourages, returning to your side to help you walk the few steps to the top.
He’s close enough that his shoulder grazes your body occasionally and his shampoo -or maybe it's his laundry detergent - tickles your nose. You’re distracted enough by his closeness that you manage to nearly miss the top step. Harrison’s quick to steady you and keep you from tipping back.
“You okay?” He asks, concerned.
“I’m fine,” you promise, flashing him a tight smile. You’re so embarrassed you don’t quite know what to do with yourself. Harrison keeps his hand on your back until you’re clear of the steps. When he eventually removes his hand you’re disappointed, which is silly. You’re on solid ground so you don’t really need it… but it felt nice. Comforting.
As you walk together in silence you feel awkward, wondering if you should be trying to make conversation with him. You open and close your mouth a few times, willing your brain to come up with something -anything- to say, when Harrison speaks.
“So Miss Librarian, what’s your favorite book?” He asks, sliding his hands in his pockets. “I feel like you can tell a lot about a person by what they pick.”
“You can,” you agree. “It’s silly,” you warn him, “but probably the Velveteen Rabbit. I’ve loved it since I was a kid.”
“Solid choice,” he agrees. “I was a big fan of the Lonesome Dove series. I grew up in Hawaii but I always wanted to be a cowboy.”
“There’s still time,” you tell him, emboldened by his easy grin and the way he looks at you. “A cowboy-doctor hybrid.”
“Mmm,” he agrees, amused. “I have no idea how to ride a horse though.”
“That’s a problem,” you agree.
It’s easy to fall into conversation with him after that and you love the sound of his laughter as you continue discussing the life of a cowboy doctor. You’re having such a good time that before you know it, you’ve arrived at the library.
“Well, this is me,” you tell him, gesturing to the building behind you and immediately feeling dumb. Obviously he could see that.
Harrison rubs the back of his neck and nods. “That it is.”
You both fall quiet and the anxiety and uncertainty from before creeps in.
“Thank you again for everything.” You look at your watch and realize you’re going to be late if you don’t get a move on. “I should go…”
“Have a good first day,” Harrison offers.
He looks like he wants to say something else but then a harried looking student pushes between you, talking rapidly to someone on the phone about a midterm study group. You step back and Harrison offers you a half wave that you return before heading into the building. You feel a little disappointed although you’re not sure why; it wasn’t like he was going to ask you out or anything… As a doctor he was duty-bound to help people in need. Then there was the fact that he was way out of your league, it was best to forget about him and move on.
Despite the rocky start, the rest of your first day goes well. Your coworkers are nice enough and your boss is sympathetic about your injury. With so much to learn and do, you’ve almost succeeded in forgetting about Harrison. The only reminder is the dull throbbing in your leg. It’s getting worse now that it’s the end of the day, exacerbated by the fact you’ve been on your feet for the last hour shelving books and pushing a heavy car around.
“Hey, new girl.”
You look up to find your coworker at the end of the stacks.
“Your boyfriend is here looking for you. You can finish that tomorrow,” she tells you, gesturing to the unshelved books. “We’re closing in five.”
Before you can question what she means, she takes off towards the front desk and you follow behind her slowly, wincing when you accidentally bump into the cart with your injured leg. You’re dismayed to find you’re bleeding through your bandage. With a sigh you continue on, wondering if you can afford an uber home; the idea of shelping through the busy metro station almost makes you want to cry.
You drop off the cart and head towards the circulation desk, drawing up short when you see a familiar face waiting for you. It’s Harrison. He’s no longer wearing his jeans and sweater from this morning, instead he’s got a pair of light blue scrubs on that look stupidly good against his tan skin and honey blond hair. A smile breaks across his face when he sees you.
“Hey,” he greets easily.
“Hey,” you return. You touch your face self consciously and pat your hair, hoping you don't look like a complete disaster after running around all day. "Did you come just to see me?" You ask him.
"No, I had some overdue books too," he replies.
"Ah," you say, looking away embarrassed. Of course he wasn't just here to see you. You were such an idiot.
"That was a joke," he tells you, dropping his head forward to catch your attention. "A bad one," he adds. "I actually came to see if you wanted to get coffee… or dinner?"
"With you?" You ask.
"Yeah, that's normally how a date works." He’s smiling again and you don’t know where to look. Even his long golden eyelashes are beautiful. “But no problem if you’re not feeling it,” he continues, stepping back.
“No,” you reply, loud enough to garner a look from your coworker. Internally you’re dying, embarrassing yourself in front of him yet again. “I meant, yes. I would like to go out with you.”
“How about Friday?” He offers. “You can tell me about your first week.”
“I’d like that.”
Harrison pulls his phone from his pocket, bringing up his contact list. He types in your name and hands it over so you can give him your number. When you give it back to him your phone vibrates in your pocket.
“I guess I’ll see you in a couple of days. Try not to injure yourself again," he councils. "But if you do, you know who to call.”

A Little Braver - 65
So... with this chapter we are officially at t minus 10. There will be an epilogue too, but There are only ten chapters left and I am already crying. It will be very hard to write the word end for this fic. I hope you will enjoy the last chapter. There’s a lot of fluff and alas, the last smidge of angst.
Well, for now enjoy Rowan on his first day as paramedic.
Tumblr media
Aelin’s next shift finally came and by consequence also Rowan’s.
She had woken him up in a special way to celebrate his first day as paramedic and he had appreciated the surprise.
Because of their morning tumble in the sheets they were now both running around the house gathering their stuff.
“We are having breakfast at the firehouse, you need to get accustomed to our life soon.”
“I am bringing my biscuits.” He had baked the night before.
“We will not stop you.”
Aelin grabbed her bag and threw Rowan’s at him “do you have everything?”
Rowan nodded eagerly.
Twenty minutes later they were in front of the firehouse. Aelin took his hand “welcome to east, captain.”
He grinned and kissed her then together they entered the apparatus floor and the common room.
A loud chorus of cheers erupted and a big banner was hanging reading Welcome Rowan.
“Thank you everyone. I am so happy to be here today. Also,” he showed them his box “I brought biscuits.”
“Well, now you are even more welcome,” joked Nox.
Aelin took his hand “I am showing him the firehouse and give him his uniform.” She turned to Manon “are the morning task all set?”
“Yes ma’am. After breakfast. They all have their duties.”
Aelin nodded “Let’s go.”
“I already know the firehouse.”
“Shush.”
Once in the locker room Aelin opened an empty one “you can use this one,” she threw him some paper tape “write your name on this and get changed.”
“You are bossy.”
Aelin leaned against her locker and stared at him undressing, he had his back at her “and you love it.”
Rowan laughed and grabbed the uniform she had passed him. Wore his blue cargo pants, his polo shirt bearing the logo of the TFD on one side and the one for the paramedic corps on the other and finally his fleece with his name on.
Aelin moved up to him “you look perfect,” she adjusted the collar of his polo. The uniform suited him perfectly.
Aelin then pulled out two more items “This is a warm jacket, is waterproof and windproof for winter.” Then she grabbed the second item “this is you bunker jacket. In situations where you need to come close to the scene like a car pile up you’ll need to wear it.” She turned it and Rowan noticed it had Paramedic Whitethorn written at the bottom “You keep the bunker jacket in the ambulance. Lys and Elide will show you where. Lys said you can have your cane too in case you need it.”
She took him around the firehouse “we have a laundry room to wash clothes,” Aelin opened a door “this big room is where were hang our stuff. Bunker gear takes up most of the space.”
They left the laundry room and walked to the shower block and bathrooms “this you know already.
The next stop was the dorm “there are spare beds, you can claim yours. You can come to my quarters from time to time but every night is quite cramped and I want you to sleep.”
Rowan circled his arms around her waist “I am okay sharing the dorm.”
She then took him to the gym “we use this a lot. Manon does kickboxing and she loves to come in here.”
“There are a couple of room that are for the ambulance and I will leave Lys to show you. Then we have the gear room that you know already really well and finally…” they walked to a corner of the apparatus floor and opened another door “cleaning closet. We all live here, so the cleaning is everyone’s job. We take turns and Manon has the schedule printed out and in the common room’s notice board.”
“That is fine.”
“Upstair is mostly meeting rooms and storage.” Aelin took his hand “now we can have breakfast.”
When they re entered the common room the female part stopped and stared at him.
“I have a feeling that soon everyone will be begging to have the ambulance from east station to help them,” confessed Asterin.
Rowan laughed hard and Brullo passed him a mug of coffee.
“So, did our captain gave you the tour?”
“Yes, I have a locker and a bed. I am officially settled in.”
Once breakfast was over and done with, the firefighters went all about their businesses, Aelin disappeared in the office and he followed Lysandra and Elide.
“Ro, welcome to our team. Elide and I are really excited to have you.”
“I am honoured too.”
“Now, while I do some paperwork, you can help Elide restock. We have received supplies. You will go through our setup. As I said in school, every ambulance has its own setup according to the paramedics.”
She turned to Elide “I am in the common room if you need me.”
Lys walked away and Elide clapped her hands “First of all, supply closet.”
Rowan followed her through the equipment room and a set of stairs then Elide unlocked a door “this is it. We used to have a small room before and it was a mess. So now we have this massive room and everything is perfectly organised.”
Rowan looked around the room and was impressed. It was tidy and very neat and all the shelves were labelled.
“Lys and I spent hours organising it. We are both a bit of tidy freaks.”
Rowan laughed hard “Then I will fit in perfectly. I am one too.”
“So living with Aelin must drive you crazy.”
“She is learning…”
“So, I have a list of what we need. You will not find medicines here. We only have gauzes, tubes, IVs and all of that stuff. The medicines are stored in the ambulance and you know our reorder process.”
Rowan nodded “For non controlled drugs you just submit a form to the hospital even on the day is fine. For controlled drugs you send the request to Aelin who will then log it in the system for the hospital and you collect it at the next run.”
“That is absolutely correct.”
Elide pulled out two plastic grocery baskets “fill them in.”
Rowan moved around and started collecting everything on his list. Then he walked to the big window and saw the external stairs and beside the pole “do they ever use the pole?”
“I have seen Aelin and Aedion use it a couple of times. They were having a meeting up here and just went down on it. It was cool.”
Once they were both done they waked back down and through the gear room and saw some team members doing all of their checks.
He smiled. Aelin’s world was finally his world too and he loved to be privy to all the back stage moment of a firehouse. It was fascinating.
Elide and Rowan got back to the ambulance and deposited the baskets on the floor and Elide opened the doors.
It was real. He had made it. He was a paramedic.
“Do you want to do the honours?”
Rowan nodded and climbed inside and looked around “I still can’t believe that this is happening.”
Elide chuckled “you have done really well, Rowan.”
He opened all the compartments and started to fill up what Elide was passing him.
“That one at the bottom is the safe, it was installed during Erawan, we keep controlled drugs in there and Lys will give you the access code.”
It was a good half an hour later once they were done and Rowan sat on the seat when Elide came back to him with a bag. Not just any bag though. A jump bag.
“Now you are officially one of us.”
Rowan took it in a daze.
“It’s all good to go. Lys prepared it for you.” She jumped back down and took him to a compartment on the side “we store them here and below,” she pointed at the lower shel “this are our bunker jackets. I assume Aelin gave you yours.”
Rowan went to grab his and stored it with the others.
In that instant dispatch alarm went off and called for ambulance only. Lysandra reappeared in a flash and went to the driver’s seat, Elide at her side and Rowan rode at the back.
His heart was racing in excitement.
Aelin rolled out on the floor to watch the ambulance go.
“The baptism of fire,” added Manon at her side.
Rowan peeked through the window.
“Woman in distress,” announced Lysandra “I want you to run this. Elide and I are at your side if it’s above your skills.”
Rowan nodded and sat back down.
They arrived at the house and all got off and Rowan grabbed his jump bag. Once on the right floor they were met by a distressed teenager “it’s my mum, she can’t breath.”
The three paramedics ran in the flat and the young girl started crying. Elide walked to the girl and tried to calm her down.
Rowan examined the woman while he put a mask on her face, she was struggling to breath.
“Her lips are swollen,” he said, and kept checking her body “Hives. She might be having an allergic reaction.”
He turned to the daughter “Is your mum allergic to some foods?”
“Nuts,” replied the girl panicking “It’s my fault I gave her biscuits without checking.”
Elide took the girl a bit away while Rowan grabbed an epi pen from his bag and injected her.
Lys nodded at him in approval “well done.”
He then stood and went to the daughter “your mum will be fine, but we have to take her to the hospital. You can come too and keep her company.”
The girl hugged Rowan “thank you so much.”
He went back to the woman, placed an IV and then he and Lys lifted her in their evac chair and carried her downstairs and eventually on the gurney.
Rowan climbed at the back with the patient and the daughter.
“Do you have someone that you can call?”
“Dad.”
“Good,” he told her “when we are at the hospital you can give his number to the nurses and they can call him for you.”
“Will my mom be okay?”
Rowan nodded “she will. I gave her a magic medicine.” He grabbed an epi pen from his bag “this is called a epi pen. Your mum should always have a few in the house. And you can learn how to use it.”
The girls face lit u in joy “I can help mum?”
“Definitely.”
“I always check before I gave her a present…”
Rowan took the girl’s hand and they rode in silence to the hospital.
Once there Lys opened the back doors and Elide grabbed the daughter.
“Rowan, you do the transfer too.”
He pushed the gurney through the A&E and a doctor met him. He rattled out all the info about the patient and told them that there was the daughter too. A nurse took the girl aside and Rowan followed her with his gaze.
Lys pulled him to the counter and they filled the paperwork for the call “that was really good. Spotting the hives was a good catch.”
Once all the paperwork was done, the three walked out “So, your first call, how do you feel?”
“Amazing.”
Ten minutes later they were rolling back into the firehouse and Rowan climbed down with a big smile on his face.
The rest of east team stopped what they were doing and waited for Lys to speak.
“He is a natural.”
Aelin looked at him from a corner and blew him a kiss and Rowan smiled back.
“Ok guys, the show is over. Back to your jobs.” Shouted Aelin walking to the ambulance.
Elide patted Rowan’s shoulder “he ran the call all by himself until drop off.”
Aelin kissed his cheek and walked away.
While Elide spent the rest of the morning with the team once they were free again, Lysandra kept on training Rowan until Brullo called them all inside for lunch.
Rowan spotted Aelin already seated and she patted the space at her side and he joined her.
Aelin then filled her glass with coke and stood “today we welcome a new member to east station. A new family member, so please join me in raising your glass to Rowan. Welcome to the madhouse.”
They all clinked glasses in celebration.
“Now food everyone, before we get interrupted.”
Rowan smiled, he knew from his days spent as a guest that finishing a meal uninterrupted was a blessing for all of them. He had also learned not to jink it anymore after the Solstice incident.
They were almost done eating when dispatch alarm went off again. At least they had managed to get some food in.
Aelin ran for the engine and truck followed.
“A car down a ravine. Apparently it was the passenger herself who called.”
“Ok, this is going to be interesting.” The three vehicles reached the side of the road where the car was meant to have gone down.
The crews descended and started walking along the pavement to spot the car.
“The vegetation is too thick,” Rowan pointed at dislodged soil “but went down this way. These are tyres marks.”
“Manon, you me and Ress are climbing down.” The three grabbed their ropes and carabiner and tied themselves to the hooks on the bumper of the engine.
“Let me come too,” said Rowan to Aelin “I know how move around this type of environment.”
Aelin looked at Lysandra and her friend nodded. They both knew that Rowan also had very special medical training from the airforce and wilderness training..
Rowan turned to Lys “I will keep you updated with the radio.” He told her while donning his harness and getting all roped up.
Aelin had ordered him to wear his bunker jacket too.
He went down first and started to descend skilfully snapping the branches and making the path easier for the others.
“I still can’t see the car.”
Manon swore in the distance.
It took them fifteen minutes to reach the car.
“Let’s all check for fuel leaks. Rowan, stay behind.” He did as ordered and waited until Aelin shouted the all clear. He dropped his jump bag on the ground and went to assess the victim.
“She is alert,” he looked at the woman “Hi, I am Rowan, what’s your name?”
“I am…” a deep breath “I am Sam. My body hurts.”
“Ok, my colleagues here will get you out as quickly as they can.”
He grabbed an IV from his bag and tried to squeeze through the smashed window and roof but the metal was bent so badly that he could not fit both arms in to insert the IV.
“I am a doctor,” said the woman “I can do it.”
Rowan passed her all the parts and saw the woman place her own IV then she placed her own c-collar “It’s protocol, you know.”
Nox, Borte and Luca joined the rest of the team and they started working on the metal.
“Ro, it’s gonna get really loud here.”
“Sam, it’s going to get really loud in here,” the woman nodded “Where do you work?” He asked the doctor to distract her.
“Med. I am an orthopaedic surgeon.” A weak chuckle left her lips “I will definitely need one after this. I can feel my bone.”
“Do you have feeling in your legs?”
“Yes, and it hurts like hell,” she groaned.
Rowan looked at the situation and saw that the team was slowly removing parts of metal to allow more access.
“I was in an accident not long ago. I crashed landed my plane after it malfunctioned. I destroyed my right knee. Busted the kneecap and the ligaments.” He told to try and distract her.
“Ouch, that must have been a bitch.”
“It was, but I had an amazing physiotherapist who made miracles.”
“I can see. You are here and climbed down the ravine.”
Lys voice came on the radio.
“Patient is stable and alert. C-collar in place and IV too. Exposed fracture on her leg.”
“Good job.”
“It’s my first day as a paramedic,” confessed Rowan proudly “I was in the airforce before.”
“A military brat,” she chuckled “3rd battalion of Terrasen army. I was a medical officer for ten years.”
“So this is a pic-nic.”
The woman laughed and Aelin gave him the nod.
“Sam, they are going to remove the roof now.”
Aelin called for a stoke basket to be pulled down with the aerial.
Once the roof was all off, he climbed in and kneeled at her side and started to bandage her leg wound, then placed a few pads on her head to stop the bleeding “Do you feel dizziness, nausea, headaches?”
“No sign of concussion,”
“Well, that will be the hospital’s decision. The fact that you are lucid and stable is a great sign.”
Manon helped him detach the woman safely from the car seat and then slid the two halves of the back board under the woman.
“Have you ever been air rescued, Sam?”
“No, but I saw many soldiers being rescued that way.”
“Well, we will ask our pilots to be gentle.”
Aelin heard him from her position while waiting to catch the basket being lowered by Nox and almost laughed. Rowan was good with people. He really was perfect for the job.
“Ok, Sam, you lift is here.” He took the backboard with Manon and carried the victim to the stoke basket and secured her tightly.
“Go with her,” said Aelin.
Rowan nodded and clipped his carabiner to the hook.
“Nox, lift it up and gently.”
Rowan kept an eye on Sam the whole time they were airborne, then they finally got out of the vegetation and saw the fire trucks and the ambulance “ready for landing, soldier?”
“Thank you, Rowan.”
His feet touched the ground and unhooked himself then helped Lys and Elide recovering the basket. They lifted the backboard and placed the woman on a gurney.
“This is Sam.”
“Hi Sam, I’ll just give you a quick check then we’ll take you to Med.”
“She works there. She is a doctor,” explained Rowan “GCS 15, she has been alert and lucid the whole time. Her vitals have been good, lacerations on the head but she has not exhibited signs of concussion, the seat belts did their job. The leg has an exposed fracture and I treated it on site.”
“He is good,” added Sam, before being lifted in the ambulance.
“That he is.” Lysandra smiled at him.
He climbed on the back with the patient and Lys and Elide went at the front. Ren closed the doors and they drove away.
“I assume it’s military training. You can’t be that good after having just graduated.”
Rowan nodded “It is. It was very advanced. Safe from surgery we have been trained for a lot. It helped a lot during training.”
Sam smiled “I used to train army soldiers, I have an idea of the level of skills you need.”
Eventually they arrived at Med.
“Your colleagues better look after you.”
Rowan did the drop off since he was the one who had been with the patient the whole time.
While walking out he caught a glimpse of his face and saw a lot of small cuts from the vegetation.
“We should get you patched up.”
Rowan shook his head “I just need to wash my face.”
Lysandra patted his back “let’s go back to quarters.”
Once they arrived back at the station they noticed the truck from south station parked on the apron.
Lysandra smiled happily.
Someone opened the rolling doors for them and she parked the ambulance in its spot.
Rowan appeared from the back and saw Fenrys waiting for him, his arms folded at his chest “Paramedic for a day and he already plays big damn hero.”
Rowan laughed and gave a rude gesture to Fen.
The man roared with laughter “Aelin, are you teaching him such gestures?”
“And that was me thinking that the posh boys had manners,” chimed in Aedion smiling brightly.
“I rescued an ex army doctor, Aedion.”
Fen made a gagging sound “do you need to go through decontamination?”
Aedion slapped the youngster on the nape of his neck.
Lys moved near her husband “leave the kid alone.” And gently patted him “what are you doing here?”
“Fen wanted to see Rowan in full paramedic attire and be his usual wicked self.”
“I behaved,” shouted Fenrys.
“I can imagine all the ladies flocking to him soon.”
Rowan huffed a puff “why everyone keep saying that?”
“With all due respect, captain,” added Asterin “you are quite the eye candy.” And at those words all the ladies nodded while Aelin giggled.
Fen then walked to Rowan and patted him in a manly fashion “it’s good to see you finally in the TFD. You look great.”
Rowan nodded. He had talked with Fenrys and they had shared their experiences with ptsd and the young man had been an amazing extra help. He could not believe that man once was the young brash and prone to rule breaking lieutenant that had served under him.
“Come on Fen, we have to take the truck back.”
Lysandra went to kiss her husband and then the two men disappeared away in their vehicle.
She then grabbed Rowan “let’s go.”
“Am I in trouble?”
Lys laughed “not at all.”
They entered the back of the ambulance and they sat down “no other newbie would have been allowed to pull the rescue you did toady, but I trusted you because I am aware of the skills you have.” She told him gently “I heard you in the ambulance talk to her and that’s another gift, just as you did this morning with that girl and her mother.” Lys looked at him and green met green “I have worked with partners who were good medically but could not reassure the patient or even talk to them.” Lys took his hand “I read you right from the beginning. You will do very well.”
“Thanks, Lys. It feels… amazing. I needed this.” He paused “I assume Aelin told you about what I went through.”
“In passing, she gave a very quickly overview without going into details, but yes, she mentioned your ptsd.”
Rowan nodded “It happened after Gavriel…” he let the sentence fall knowing full well that Lys had been close to her father in law “It was bad, but becoming a paramedic was my goal and kept me going on the bad days. This job allows me to help people and the feeling is incredible.”
“I wish more of my students shared your passion.”
Lys patted his leg “Let’s get out, you might want to get cleaned up and inaugurate the washing machine. You have blood on your polo shirt.”
Rowan climbed off the ambulance and went for the toilets, removed his polo shirt and washed neck and face, then with the kit Elide had given him, he medicated his face.
He was treating a cut on his nose when Borte and Asterin entered the bathrooms and the two women stopped. He was bare-chested, the polo abandoned near the sink.
He turned and both women were beetroot red “Sorry ladies, I was just getting cleaned up.”
They both ran away and he laughed.
Aelin arrived two minutes later and leaned against the doorframe “so that’s why Borte and Asterin are all flustered.”
He turned and faced her “I am just getting cleaned up and my shirt is a mess.”
Aelin walked to him and gently grabbed his face tilting up to the light. Then took a swab and coated it in antiseptic and methodically treated the cuts “It looks like you had a battle with a cat.” A kiss on  his nose “you were amazing today. Lys told me to keep an eye on you, but you held your own beautifully,” she treated the last cut and disposed of the swabs “I called the hospital and I was told that she is fine and has surgery planned soon.”
“Thank you.”
Aelin went away and came back a moment later and threw him a t-shirt “put this one on before you knock out my team.”
He grabbed his dirty polo shirt “this needs washing already.”
“It’s okay,” said Aelin grabbing it “I have a load ready, I can add it to my stuff.”
“Go and play with the guys, Ress is starting a video game tournament.” Rowan stooped and kissed her and gently he pushed against the sink “Come and watch me loose.”
Aelin kissed him again and brushed his hair “I am so proud of you. So damn proud.”

what do you think of pred!peter? I was thinking in a more 'the tables have turned' situation because he would never sit still and the poor sap in his belly would likely want waterproof earplugs by the end of it all, with the kid's endless chattering and moving
Ohhh my gosh you’re so right he absolutely would not shut up. While I mostly see him as a chaotic prey lad he ABSOLUTELY has played pred on a few occasions. Mostly I can see that happening with either MJ and Ned or Banner, and both options are equally hilarious to me. He wouldn’t even be going on about anything relevant to the situation either. You’d think he’d be asking all sorts of questions about what he’s like inside but really he just won’t shut up about this one episode of Star Trek he just saw, and while Ned finds it entertaining, MJ would really like some earplugs please. Tho if it were Banner he’d eaten Peter would really just be geeking out the whole time about some rapid fire science nonsense and pretty much no one can understand what he’s going on about.
Also I feel like he’d forget that whatever he does affects his insides so he’d just, try and swing or climb up something and immediately get kicked at for making gravity go all wonky for his ‘passengers’. He also is incapable of keeping his hands away from his stomach while he’s got someone in there so you’re just gonna have to put up with being squished and prodded the entire time

Ensuring Durability: How to Pick the Best Material for Your Outdoor Grand Opening Banners
When planning a grand opening, the devil is in the details, and one of the most crucial details is your outdoor banners. These banners are not just tools for announcement and decoration; they are also powerful marketing instruments that can attract attention, make a statement, and leave a lasting impression. However, the outdoors can be unforgiving, with its unpredictable weather and variable conditions. Therefore, choosing the right material for your outdoor grand opening banners is paramount to ensure they stay vibrant and intact, making your event a memorable one.
Why Material Matters
The right material can mean the difference between a banner that fades into the background and one that stands out and withstands the test of time (and weather). Durability, visibility, and overall appearance are significantly influenced by the material choice. This guide will walk you through the best materials for outdoor banners to ensure your grand opening is nothing short of grand.
Vinyl Banners: The All-Rounder
Vinyl is the go-to material for outdoor banners due to its durability and cost-effectiveness. Vinyl banners can withstand rain, wind, and sunlight, making them perfect for any outdoor setting. They come in various weights and thicknesses, with heavier banners being more durable and suitable for long-term use. Vinyl also offers excellent color reproduction, ensuring your banners are vibrant and eye-catching.
Pros:
Waterproof and weather-resistant
High-quality prints and vibrant colors
Suitable for both short-term and long-term use
Cons:
Heavier vinyl can be difficult to install without help
Not the most eco-friendly option
Mesh Banners: The Wind Whisperer
If your grand opening is set in a particularly windy location, mesh banners are your best bet. Made from vinyl coated with tiny holes, these banners allow wind to pass through, reducing the risk of tearing or flying away. While slightly less vibrant than solid vinyl, mesh banners still offer excellent visibility and durability.
Pros:
Wind-resistant, making them ideal for high-wind areas
Durable and weather-resistant
Lighter than solid vinyl, easier to handle
Cons:
Slightly lower image quality due to the perforations
Less effective in very light winds or calm conditions
Fabric Banners: The Elegant Choice
For a touch of elegance and sophistication, fabric banners are the way to go. Made from polyester or other synthetic fabrics, these banners offer a high-end look and feel, with vibrant colors and a slight sheen. Fabric banners are perfect for less harsh outdoor conditions or sheltered outdoor areas. They are lightweight, easy to transport, and install, making them a convenient option for many events.
Pros:
High-quality, sophisticated appearance
Lightweight and easy to install
Great for indoor and outdoor use (in mild conditions)
Cons:
Not as durable as vinyl or mesh in extreme weather conditions
Can be more expensive than other materials
Recyclable and Eco-Friendly Options
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in all aspects of business, including banner materials. Several eco-friendly options are available, such as banners made from recycled plastic or biodegradable materials. While these options may not always offer the same level of durability as vinyl or mesh, they can be a great choice for businesses looking to reduce their environmental impact.
Pros:
Lower environmental impact
Suitable for businesses emphasizing sustainability
Cons:
May not be as durable as traditional materials
Limited availability and potentially higher cost
Making Your Choice
When selecting the material for your outdoor grand opening banners, consider the specific conditions and needs of your event. Vinyl offers unmatched durability and versatility, mesh handles wind with ease, fabric adds a touch of class, and eco-friendly options speak to your commitment to sustainability.
No matter which material you choose, ensure your design is bold, your message is clear, and your brand is visible. A grand opening is a milestone event, and with the right outdoor banners, you can make it unforgettable.
Remember to work with a reputable printer who can provide guidance on the best material for your needs and ensure your banners are of the highest quality. With the right preparation and materials, your grand opening will be the talk of the town, setting the stage for your business's successful future.

Decoding Duck Fabric: Uses, Benefits, and Care Tips
Tumblr media
Duck fabric, also known as cotton duck canvas, is a versatile and durable material with a rich history. Often used for its strength and weather resistance, duck fabric finds its way into various applications, from heavy-duty workwear to stylish home decor accents. This informative guide delves into the world of duck fabric, exploring its uses, benefits, and the best practices for caring for it.
Understanding Duck Fabric: A Heavy Cotton Powerhouse
Duck fabric is a plain-weave, heavyweight textile woven from thick cotton yarns. The weaving technique creates a dense and sturdy fabric with a characteristic matte finish. Traditionally, duck fabric was made from 100% cotton, but nowadays, blends with polyester are also available.
Here are some key characteristics of duck fabric:
Heavyweight: Compared to regular cotton, duck fabric is significantly heavier and more robust. This makes it ideal for applications that require high levels of durability and tear resistance.
Water Resistant: Duck fabric has natural water-repellent properties. This is because the tight weave of the fabric creates a barrier that hinders water penetration. While not entirely waterproof, it can withstand light rain or spills.
Durable: Duck fabric is renowned for its exceptional durability. It can withstand heavy wear and tear, making it a perfect choice for long-lasting projects.
Breathable: Despite its density, duck fabric allows for good air circulation. This breathability is crucial for comfort, especially when used in clothing or items meant for outdoor use.
Versatile: Duck fabric’s strength and unique properties make it suitable for a wide range of applications. We’ll explore these diverse uses in more detail in the next section.
Beyond Workwear: The Diverse Uses of Duck Fabric
Duck fabric’s strength and functionality make it a popular choice for various purposes. Here’s a glimpse into the many ways duck fabric is used:
Workwear: Due to its durability and resistance to abrasion, duck fabric is a staple material for workwear. Carpenters, mechanics, construction workers, and many others rely on duck fabric for bib overalls, jackets, and work pants.
Awnings and Tents: The water-resistant nature of duck fabric makes it ideal for creating awnings and tents. It provides shade and protection from light rain or wind, making it a valuable asset for outdoor events and camping enthusiasts.
Bags and Totes: Duck fabric’s sturdiness makes it perfect for crafting sturdy bags and totes. These bags can handle heavy loads and withstand everyday wear and tear, making them ideal for groceries, travel, or carrying tools.
Upholstery: Duck fabric adds a touch of rustic charm and durability to furniture upholstery. It’s particularly well-suited for high-traffic areas like ottomans, benches, or outdoor furniture cushions.
Home Decor Accents: Duck fabric can be used for various home decor accents like table runners, throw pillows, or even wall hangings. Its natural texture and earthy tones add a touch of warmth and character to any space.
Art and Crafts: Artists and crafters appreciate duck fabric for its versatility. It can be used for creating canvases, banners, or even for bookbinding projects due to its strength and ability to hold its shape.
As you can see, duck fabric transcends its workwear origins and finds application in various creative and functional ways.
The Strength Within: Benefits of Using Duck Fabric
The unique properties of duck fabric translate into several benefits for users. Here are some of the key advantages:
Durability: Duck fabric’s strength allows it to withstand heavy use and last for years. This makes it a cost-effective choice in the long run, as it requires less frequent replacement.
Weather Resistance: The water-repellent nature of duck fabric protects against light rain or spills. This makes it ideal for outdoor applications or items that might encounter moisture.
Easy Maintenance: Duck fabric is generally easy to care for. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water keeps it looking its best.
Versatility: As discussed earlier, duck fabric’s adaptability allows it to be used for various purposes. This versatility makes it a valuable material for both functional and creative projects.
Eco-Friendly Choice: Cotton, the primary component of duck fabric, is a natural and renewable resource. This makes duck fabric a more eco-friendly option compared to synthetic materials.
With its impressive mix of durability, weather resistance, and ease of care, duck fabric offers a compelling choice for various needs.
Caring for Your Duck Fabric: Keeping it Strong
Like any fabric, proper care ensures duck fabric maintains its strength and appearance for years to come. Here are some simple tips for caring for your duck fabric items:

Iconic Rides: The Role of the Leather Biker Vest in Motorcycle Club Culture

Iconic Rides: The Role of the Leather Biker Vest in Motorcycle Club Culture
Comparing Leather and Synthetic Bikers’ Ultimate Vest Showdown
Your vest motorcycle club material matters. This is about comfort, durability, and identity, not just style or tradition. The vest is a badge of honor, a canvas for patches and memories, and weather protection. Leather and synthetics dominate the market. Each has advantages and disadvantages adapted to distinct needs and tastes.
Many riders love leather’s ageless appeal. It represents the road’s raw, defiant soul. Leather vests evoke motorcycling’s history and authenticity as synthetic materials cannot. Leather is attractive and protects against wind, minor abrasions, and warmth. Natural, breathable cloth adapts to your body temperature and gets more comfortable with age. However, comfort and style cost money, and leather needs care to stay soft and weatherproof. It can be thick and absorb rain without proper care, making it heavier and slower to dry.
Alternatively, synthetic vests meet modern biking needs. Nylon, polyester, and Kevlar combine function and convenience. They are lighter, waterproof, and more wind and water-resistant than untreated leather. Wash-and-dry synthetics are cheaper and easy to maintain. Modern textile technology has produced high-strength synthetic fibers that protect like leather, especially when combined with cushioning or armor. Synthetic vests can change the game for practical riders, especially in different climates.
Leather or synthetic? It’s an issue of club identification and personal expression, not just practicality. Some motorcyclist groups have rigorous vest restrictions, favoring leather for its classic look and cultural significance. Leather can show loyalty and respect for the club’s history. Others may choose functionality and comfort, especially clubs that ride in damp or changing conditions, where synthetic vests shine.
Leather or synthetic depends on one’s biking style. Leather tells a story as it ages, scratches, changes color, and molds to your body. Each line and crease offers a story of miles traveled and experiences lived. Therefore, many find aging desirable. Synthetic fabrics can not match this personalization; they may hold their color and shape longer, but they cannot change with the rider.
However, the environmental and ethical impacts of leather manufacturing are making some riders reconsider. Tanning and dyeing leather can harm the environment and animals. While synthetic materials have an environmental impact, they are frequently more sustainable and cruelty-free. Environmentally conscientious and animal-free riders value this factor more.
Technology also bridges the gap between leather’s traditional appeal and synthetics’ modern benefits. Innovative synthetic materials make vests appear and feel like leather, offering a compromise between tradition and functionality. Thanks to these advances, bikers may now choose vests that match their ideals, needs, and club requirements,
Choose a motorcycle club vest that balances history and innovation, personal expression, and communal identity. Consider your riding style, maintenance, and gear messaging. Whether you choose leather or synthetic materials, your vest symbolizes your road trip and friendship with other riders.
Leather or synthetic vests are personal choices. What you wear and how you wear it matter. You are telling stories, and making memories matters. Whether you prefer old leather or elegant synthetics, your vest is your roadside banner, symbolizing your independence, community, and spirit. Choose wisely, ride cautiously, and proudly wear your vest, representing your unique journey and the motorcycle club’s timeless tradition.
Fit and Function: Motorcycle Club Vest Essentials
The vest motorcycle club signifies more than just clothing; it reflects a tale of trips, interactions, and values in motorcycle clubs. Vests are more than just fabric they express identity, making them essential for riders. While aesthetics matter, fit and usefulness are critical in vest selection; each factor shapes what makes the vest wearable and significant.
As diverse as riders, fit is the first consideration when choosing a vest. A good vest fits snugly, allowing movement without cloth flapping in the wind. However, this fit must accommodate layers underneath to meet weather and comfort needs. It’s a delicate balance that requires attention to detail and knowledge of body and bike habits. A good-fitting vest makes rides more comfortable and proudly displays patches and club symbols.
In addition to size and shape, the vest’s cut matters. Traditionalists may like straight lines and a no-frills approach that matches the ancient biker image. Modernists may choose ergonomic designs with shapes that follow the body’s natural lines and elements to promote a more dynamic riding position. This style diversity reflects the progress of bike culture and the varied riders on the road today.
The second pillar, functionality, covers everything from vest material to closure mechanism. Leather, denim, or modern synthetics affect the vest’s appearance, feel, and performance. Leather is a classic choice for the open road due to its durability and wind resistance. Newer materials offer reduced weight, water resistance, and easier maintenance, appealing to practical and versatile riders.
Features include pockets, closures, and adjustability. Pockets must be carefully placed and securely fastened to protect personal things and tools. Whether the vest has buttons, zippers, or something else influences its appearance and ease of usage, especially when moving or wearing gloves. Adjustable straps or laces can suit layers or body size changes without affecting the vest’s design or function.
Functionality also depends on how healthy patches, pins, and other insignia can be shown and retained on vests. The arrangement and strength of the cloth influence how these items can be placed, their visibility, and their durability. Many riders’ adornments convey a tale, recognize achievements, or represent associations and memories; the vest must be a worthy canvas, retaining its integrity and beauty under road travel.
Personal preference and club norms also matter. Club traditions may dictate vest color, patch placement, and style. While riding, riders must consider comfort, style, and practicality. The correct vest matches the wearer’s body, personality, and lifestyle.
Though personal, this choice is shared. The vest links the rider to the motorcycle community. It’s a sign of identity, belonging, and protection. Thus, picking the correct vest reflects the rider’s past, present, and future.
Riders choose fit and usefulness based on their personal experience and club culture. The perfect vest exists, but discovering it means identifying it as a match for one’s body, spirit, and community. The search is a voyage via personal preferences, practical needs, and road traditions.
When choosing a vest, think carefully. Consider your life and club fit as well as your body. Consider its functionality beyond pockets and zippers, including how well it conveys your story, identity, and commitment.
