Agatha Wellbelove, the goatherd of Watford.
I feel like I should say something to Ebb. […] I whisper to the stone: “I did what you told me to do. I ran”. I drop my voice even more. “Thank you.”

...Part 2 of the illustrations for my twin sister's big Simon Snow fic! Which you can now read on AO3! (It's wonderful and you should read it.)
Here's the synopsis! (The link is in the title - simply click it to read)
Enemies Closer (The Magickal School-Life of Simon Snow and Baz Pitch)
Of all the things I expect my father to tell me when we convene in his study, it very much isn’t, “The Old Families want you to befriend the Chosen One.”
A COMPLETED fic of Simon and Baz’s eight years together at Watford with one fundamental change to their relationship: what if eleven-year-old Baz had been instructed to be Simon’s friend instead of his enemy? (Answer: much the same initial antagonistic relationship that becomes a slow-burning and character-defining romance.)
Includes lots of magickal worldbuilding that fill in the gaps of their missing years at Watford, their coming-of-age stories, and their eventual love story.
Covers Simon Snow and the Mage’s Heir (year 1) through Carry On (year 8).

Thanks for the tags this morning @larkral @that-disabled-princess @artsyunderstudy @nightimedreamersworld @orange-peony and @blackberrysummerblog! I'm just putting the finshing touches on the finale to my Star Trek: Redemption fic, The Tardigrade and his Boy, which I expect to be posting later today. So, here's one last totally out of context snippet with wayyy more than six sentences:
“Calm down, Snow,” I say, gently. He takes a shuddering breath, and the smoke surrounding us starts to recede. “Baz,” he gasps. “You’re back.” I look down at myself, still disguised as a Watford School of Magicks student—or some kind of narc, if Wellbelove is to be believed—and realise who he thinks I am. The other one, his roommate, his— “Thank magic,” he sighs, and then he’s embracing me, holding me tightly. He’s so warm, and it feels so … My Snow would never. “No,” I say. It takes every fibre of self-control I have to pull back. “Bunce spelled us, Shepard and I, so we could cross the grounds without drawing attention. I’m Commander Grimm-Pitch, remember?” Snow’s face falls and he starts—literally—fuming again.  “But it’s okay,” I choke out through a cough. “It’ll be okay.” “No,” he growls. “You don’t understand. I just got him back. I missed him. So much, and I just got him back, and I can’t lose him again.”

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

Hey folks, I hope you've all had a good week! I'm currently sat on my bed with a tiny puppy asleep in a bundle of hoodies and blankets. It's all very domestic.
In the meantime, the first chapter of Those Glowing, Magickal Years is with my betas. It's a Watford canon divergense starting in year one. It's gonna be a long one, folks.
Here's a snippet of Baz's POV from chapter one.
“It is my firm belief that every creature that can speak magic should have a place in this school,” [the Mage] says.  Creature. With a meaningful look, he continues, “For centuries the magicians have believed all dark creatures to be evil.”  “The hint’s in the name.” I say, my voice too strained. “Dark creatures are a threat to our kind. We’re at war with them.” The smile he gives me is so full of sympathy that it sets my stomach churning again. “Yes, Basilton. But not all dark creatures kill and maim, do they?” Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuck.

COC 21 ⁘ Begin Again
I get a bit choked up during the school song; there’s this line about “those golden years at Watford / those glowing, magickal years”—and it makes me think again about how this is it. Every day I have this year will be the last day like it.
–Carry On, @rainbowrowell
I’ve been visiting family for the past few days (and will continue to do so throughout the rest of COC), so I’ve been drawing these in the dark while everyone else is asleep. Sorry if the colours are weird! Not to mention I’m still doing the whole non-dominant hand thing, so I apologize for the wonky lettering, too.

A WIP? In my Wednesday? It’s more likely than you’d think!
Thanks to @artsyunderstudy and @you-remind-me-of-the-babe for the tags (and a very I am sorry to everyone who tagged me during The Very Dark Fortnight)

My comic book students asked how to translate a book scene to a comic page and I grabbed a book I Definitely Do Not Read And Would Never Post Fan Art For as my example and turned to a Very Random Scene That I Have Never Wanted To Draw Super Bad to show blocking (which is all the color shit in the background)
Now that I have a new group of students, I am working on finishing this to hopefully post. And look! It’s Ebb!
I no-pressure tag @krisrix @foolofabookwyrm-activated @facewithoutheart @themandilorian @otherworldsivelivedin @mostlymaudlin @prettylightsbigcity @fatalfangirl and anyone else who wants to play (this also counts for Sunday!)

Alright my friends, it's time to choose the book for February! Our theme for the month: Romance! I'm not original. However, the bar for romance was skimming the floor and so we have a wide variety of titles to choose from! If you'd like to join the book club, send me a message and I'll send you the link to our Discord! The summaries for the titles are under the cut!
Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
Reader, I murdered him. A Gothic retelling of Jane Eyre. Like the heroine of the novel she adores, Jane Steele suffers cruelly at the hands of her aunt and schoolmaster. And like Jane Eyre, they call her wicked - but in her case, she fears the accusation is true. When she flees, she leaves behind the corpses of her tormentors. A fugitive navigating London's underbelly, Jane rights wrongs on behalf of the have-nots whilst avoiding the noose. Until an advertisement catches her eye. Her aunt has died and the new master at Highgate House, Mr Thornfield, seeks a governess. Anxious to know if she is Highgate's true heir, Jane takes the position and is soon caught up in the household's strange spell. When she falls in love with the mysterious Charles Thornfield, she faces a terrible dilemma: can she possess him - body, soul and secrets - and what if he discovers her murderous past?
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up. Carry On - The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Sophie has the great misfortune of being the eldest of three daughters, destined to fail miserably should she ever leave home to seek her fate. But when she unwittingly attracts the ire of the Witch of the Waste, Sophie finds herself under a horrid spell that transforms her into an old lady. Her only chance at breaking it lies in the ever-moving castle in the hills: the Wizard Howl's castle. To untangle the enchantment, Sophie must handle the heartless Howl, strike a bargain with a fire demon, and meet the Witch of the Waste head-on. Along the way, she discovers that there's far more to Howl—and herself—than first meets the eye.
Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick
A romantic ode to the strength of love and the power of choosing each other, against odds and obstacles, again and again. What would you do if you forgot the love of your life ever even existed? Stevie and Nora had a love. A secret, epic, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. They also had a plan: to leave their small, ultra-conservative town and families behind after graduation and move to California, where they could finally stop hiding that love. But then Stevie has a terrible fall. And when she comes to, she can remember nothing of the last two years—not California, not coming to terms with her sexuality, not even Nora. Suddenly, Stevie finds herself in a life she doesn’t quite understand, one where she’s estranged from her parents, drifting away from her friends, lying about the hours she works, dating a boy she can’t remember crushing on, and headed towards a future that isn’t at all what her fifteen-year-old self would have envisioned. And Nora finds herself…forgotten. Can the two beat the odds a second time and find their way back together when “together” itself is just a lost memory?
Caught in a Bad Fauxmance by Elle Gonzalez Rose
A fresh, fun contemporary rom-com from debut author Elle Gonzalez Rose, about an aspiring artist who agrees to fake date one of his family’s longtime enemies in the hopes of gathering intel good enough to take down their rivals once and for all. Devin Baez is ready for a relaxing winter break at Lake Andreas. That is, until he runs into his obnoxious next-door neighbors the Seo-Cookes, undefeated champions of the lake’s annual Winter Games. In the hope of finally taking down these long-time rivals, the Baezes offer up their beloved cabin in a bet. Reckless? Definitely. So when annoyingly handsome Julian Seo-Cooke finds himself in need of a fake boyfriend, Devin sees an opportunity to get behind enemy lines and prove the family plays dirty. As long as Devin and Julian’s families are at war, there’s only room for loathing between them. Which is a problem because, for Devin, this faux game of love is feeling very real.
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev
All her world's a stage. Bertie Shakespeare Smith is not an actress, yet she lives in a theater. She's not an orphan, but she has no parents. She knows every part, but she has no lines of her own. That is, until now. Enter Stage Right NATE. Dashing pirate. Will do anything to protect Bertie. COBWEB, MOTH, MUSTARDSEED, and PEASEBLOSSOM. Four tiny and incredibly annoying fairies. BERTIE'S sidekicks. ARIEL. Seductive air spirit and Bertie's weakness. The symbol of impending doom. BERTIE. Our heroine.
