Aang As a Father, in Response to LoK
⚠️CAUTION⚠️
This post is full of Aang and kataang hate. If you like Aang and/or ship kataang in any capacity, scroll on for the sake of your mental and emotional wellbeing. Thank you!
When Avatar: Legend of Korra came out, I remember there being tons of discussion around how much Aang sucked as a father and how surprised everyone was, even some of us who never really liked him as a character. However, I’ve been thinking about it today, and the conclusion I’ve reached is that not only is it not surprising that Aang was not a very good parent, but it was inevitable. The one thing I disagree on that I’ll get to at some point in here is how he sucked at parenting in canon as opposed to how I think he was set up to fail at it given the direction he was headed with his canon characterization.
I’d like to start by getting into that characterization and discussing some of the elements of Aang’s canon personality that I think are relevant. In the series, yes, as we all know and as Aang stans love to point out ad nauseum, he’s just a mere bitty child, but we can also see some of his flaws that, even in his 12-year-old self, have some serious consequences at times. Canon Aang is a messy cocktail of toxic positivity, selfishness, avoidant tendencies, impulsivity, and a dangerous lack of emotional control. He does things like casually throw away the fate of the whole world over his god-given right to have a crush on a girl and then, in the next season, compare that same girl’s experience of losing her mother to his radically different experience of losing his pet for a couple weeks as he tells her to get over it. He also has a tendency to go into the freaking avatar state when he’s upset about something and cause serious damage to everything around him until Mommy calms him down. Even when he doesn’t go into the avatar state, he does things like verbally abuse his friends and abandon them in the desert when Appa goes missing.
All of this is completely relevant to who a hypothetical adult Aang would be and what he’d be like because, all throughout the series, there is never any accountability from Aang. He literally never takes responsibility for the things he does and makes amends or even just apologizes in a meaningful way because he never has to — the narrative makes sure of that. That’s the key part of Aang’s flaws, that Bryke genuinely thought they made a perfect good guy and had nary a crumb of self awareness that they accidentally made him a raging asshole who is constantly being rewarded for his shitty behavior. Even when he’s clearly in the wrong, like with the Bato situation in s1, they somehow turn it around so yeah, I guess he fesses up and apologizes but, at the end of the episode, Sokka and Katara are apologizing to him and there’s no lasting consequences for the shitty thing he did. Because of this crucial element of the story and Aang’s character, it is very likely that he’d go his whole life being a dickhead while continuing to never have consequences for that and somehow managing to maintain his friendships and relationship with Katara.
I want to kind of go through these one at a time, starting with the lack of accountability. Since Aang is the avatar, literally no one in the whole world of atla actually has authority over him, at least once he’s an adult. His peers are his equals but, even though Katara, Toph, and Zuko taught him his bending, they don’t really have any tangible authority over him as his teachers. Combine that with the fact that none of Aang’s friends really ever criticize him or hold him accountable for his actions and it becomes very clear that, as a father, he will never actually be held accountable for being a bad parent. What goes with this is that he also won’t be open to advice because he assumes he always knows best and the narrative also supports and rewards that. Between the two, he’s set up so that when he inevitably turns out to be a lousy father, there will be nothing anyone can say (assuming they would even say anything at all) to help him improve.
With this in mind, let’s start into the actual character flaws that, as concluded above, won’t be corrected at any point, starting with the toxic positivity. One of Aang’s most recognizable characteristics is his bright, cheery disposition which can be a good thing but also leads to him being very dismissive of anyone else’s problems or negative emotions. As a parent, he would never take his children’s problems seriously and would simply brush them off and tell his kids to practice detachment and just let go of whatever is bothering them, regardless of how serious the issue is or how much it matters to the kid. This will teach the kids both not to even try to bring their problems to at least one of their parents and also that any problem they have is actually inconsequential, so even when they do have really big, serious issues in life, they won’t be able to recognize it as such and get whatever help they might need. It also will convey to them that their own father just doesn’t really care about them, at least not enough to engage with them in any capacity about anything serious.
Next up is Aang’s selfishness. Throughout atla, we see time and time again that Aang struggles greatly with prioritizing literally anyone else over his own comfort and desires. He was more than willing to sacrifice the whole world for his ability to avoid having to engage in conflict and then, in season 2, he showed that he was 100% willing to sacrifice the whole world for his crush on Katara. It’s not just that he tends to thoughtlessly give into his impulses and desires without giving thought to how it affects others, it’s also that, because of who he is, that has the potential to cause immense damage and he still doesn’t care. As a father, he would always put himself before his wife and his children. He would treat Katara at least as badly and unfairly as he did in canon and his children would have the lovely experience of watching that and also growing up in a household where their wants and needs don’t really matter to their own father.
Another key factor when it comes to Aang’s personality is his avoidant tendencies. We see multiple times throughout the series just how far he’ll go to avoid doing things he doesn’t want to do, like preventing the world from complete destruction. In his household, I imagine he’d want no part of any of the real, ‘messy’ aspects of parenthood and would just have Katara do all those things. Anything to do with the mess of child care (changing diapers, cleaning up spit up, any sort of wound care for scraped knees, etc.), conflict resolution between quarreling siblings, or correction of misbehavior would fall to her. He, like plenty of real men, would only want to do the cute, fun parts of parenthood, like taking the kids to Disney, while making Mom the ‘bad guy’ who has to do all the real work.
Then there’s also the impulsivity. Aang tends to get these ideas of things he wants to do and then, without any further thought, just goes and does them. This can be pretty harmless when it’s something like wanting to go penguin sledding and then going off and doing it but, as we’ve seen, there’s plenty of times where it isn’t, like when he hides Hakoda’s correspondence from Katara and Sokka in s1 because he’s feeling pissy. In parenthood, I think this is where we ended up with the unfair treatment showed in LoK because it’s his impulsivity driving it, but I don’t actually think he’d be out here treating his kids differently based on bending abilities, I think they’d all be pretty equally getting the short end of the stick from him.
The way I see his impulsivity coming out with his family is either with grabbing the kids to go do something on a whim (like riding the elephant koi) or going off on his own or with Katara on some spur of the moment trip that leaves their kids alone or drags them away from home for weeks at a time with no notice. If they’d leave the kids alone while going off without them, that could lead to trauma around neglect and abandonment while, if they take the kids with them, the kids get stuck being dragged along and then ignored while Aang goes off to do all the stuff he’s there for that the kids weren’t really ever supposed to actually be part of. I think that, with stuff like this, the avoidance, and the toxic positivity, he’d think that he’s setting himself up to be the cool, fun dad with Katara being made out to be the ‘bad guy’ when, in truth, he’s out here fucking up his children and they’re going to know and hate him for it in the end.
The last part is the matter of his inability to regulate his emotions. It’s bad enough for anyone to have to sit there and watch as the same toxic positivity dickhead then struggles with anger issues he never even so much as apologizes for, but for his kids, I’m sure it’s unbearable. My dad has struggled with anger issues my whole life, as have I, but we take responsibility and we’ve both spent over two decades working on ourselves, trying to get better. Aang would never do that in any capacity. For his children, they’d get this environment where they can never be upset at all because it bothers Dad but then Dad can fly off into the fucking avatar state as soon as he’s even mildly inconvenienced. This model of ‘you being upset is just a little inconvenience you need to get over but when Dad’s upset it’s a huge deal and he’s actually allowed to be upset’ would be downright infuriating to live with and would definitely contribute to their children’s childhood trauma. It’s not just that you’re not allowed to be upset, it’s also that you always have to be walking on eggshells trying not to set this guy off.
Another thing I would add to this last point is something I learned from my family that I think is relevant here. My dad genuinely thought he was totally normal and didn’t have any anger issues until my brother and I were born, and he also was always really great with other people’s kids and never had problems there until he was working on the railroad with two babies at home. Yes, we’ve already seen Aang’s anger issues in canon, but I would also speculate that his mood and stuff would get worse once Tenzin’s born. This could either lead to him being absent for most of the kids’ early childhoods as he’d just avoid being around them if they’re triggering him or his anger issues could get worse and more prevalent once there’s kids in the mix. Either would be detrimental to his children’s mental health.
So I guess my point here is that LoK having it so Aang’s whole issue with fatherhood is that he treated his kids unequally doesn’t really cover the ways in which he’s set up to be a terrible father. I really don’t think favortism would even be an issue (I think all 3 kids would get dragged around to air nomad stuff, not just Tenzin) but Lord knows there’s other issues to be considered here. As a father, Aang would be selfish, impulsive, dismissive, thoughtless, and hypocritical as well as probably struggling with completely unchecked anger issues. His children would have trauma because of him and they would hate him, but not because he would leave two behind while dragging the eldest around on vacations. The cherry on top of the shit sundae of Aang’s fatherhood is that he would have no self awareness whatsoever as all of this would go unchecked by his wife and friends, so he would genuinely believe that he’s a good, fun, loving father all the way up to the moment of his death.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO THE TUKTUKKERS OVER PARTY IN MY INBOX
Deleted video.
Also I change my mind. I SUPPORT THEM😌
If the video says, the video SAID. Gotta play by tuktukker's own rules don't we?
They should stop barking up the wrong tree. Hybe can't do anything if it's true. They gonna stop drop and roll till it goes away on its own or threaten to sue ppl for violating the privacy of their artist and leave yall hanging.
It's sus how this video was taken with staff casually doing his hair while he melts away like cheese🥲
They must trust these ppl so much- couldn't be me.
I'm digging a mass grave for tuktukkers and I need no help
Tumblr media
If there's one thing I'm weak for it's vulnerability in a man and Tae- hear me out...
Tumblr media
I'd be a big fat liar if I said this wasn't healthy for him. And by this I don't mean miss J, I mean an intimate relationship. We all need somebody and for the longest time this man was groaning and moaning on these streets and in his songs it was hard to bear.
I'm genuinely happy for him in that regard. For the boys' wellbeing I hope they are getting laid and they have intimate relationships that fulfills them beyond what they have with eachother. Not to sound so biblical but it's not right for man to be alone. Sigh.
I seriously hope toxic stans don't make this about them.
And I don't suppose Hybe is going to coerce him into denouncing her and denying his affections for her so publicly- whoever the her in this video is 💀
If a man declares to the world you ain't shit and a fart, guess what? YOU AIN'T SHIT AND A FART my dear Mijoo. Yall tried it with that one🥴
Unless it is hybe intentionally leaking these videos to avoid direct confrontation with fans- and I won't be surprised if that's the case cos the angles on the video us sus- i mean it looks like it came from the Bangtan bomb cams or someone did some serious cropping for nefarious reasons. either way, this is a serious violation of his privacy and is tantamount to revenge corn.
Especially if whoever is leaking them is doing so knowingly and hoping it will have a devastating impact on his reputation and career- this is where I cite case law to support my argument but i won't cause I say so. The queen is dead. Long live this negress 👑
Tae should just post "all the rumors are true" yeah
Tumblr media
Or a song from Lizzo and get it over with- burn holes in chests and shit. We deserve it king 🤴
They shouldn't be stingy. They should take us along the journey all through out the phases- the pining stage, the honey moon phase and when they start throwing shoes at each other, I want in.
Their music is going to be so lit 🔥🔥🔥
I can't wait for his album.
If it turns out he was just talking to park Jimin all along I SWEAR TO GOD😐
Ait I'll be camping on Dispatch's pages see ya- not that I expect them to go after any of the boys from BTS 🙃
Signed,
Low key abouta ship it

Hey, apologies if you’ve covered this particular thing before but one of the arguments against Kyle in ygo/ab is that in it apparently he can hang out with the fascist, abusive pos he’s dealt with most of his life but not Stan. I have my own halfbaked rebuttals to this idea, but you’re generally better with this kind of thing so thoughts?
Hhhh god this take is so painfully frustrating. I have already kind of gone loosely over it here as well as expanded on other stuff related to this topic.
But yes here we gooooo
Kyle didn’t abandon Stan in You’re Getting Old and Assburgers and I’m honestly really disturbed at how so many people in this fandom seem to think Stan is somehow entitled to Kyle’s constant affection and presence as well as believing that because someone is depressed, you must entirely disregard your mental health and happiness to put them first, even if they behave extremely unpleasantly and treat you poorly because of their mental illness. I’m not here to say that Stan is a bad person or somehow the real villain of these episodes- He’s NOT. He’s a child suffering with depression and it leads to him acting in ways that are hurtful to others because he doesn’t understand his poor mental health and isn’t being given the support and help he needs from his family and medical professionals. I also don’t think that the people pushing this idea actually BELIEVE that you have to put your own mental wellbeing aside for others in favor of theirs- At least not the vast majority of them. But somehow the fandom has became so utterly blinded by this idea because we only see the episode from Stan’s perspective and the fandom itself has just sort of skewed the general idea around the episode in ways that are blatantly untrue to what actually happened in it and it’s lead to people carrying on these annoying brain dead takes.
I’m going to go over YGO and AB again in less detail than I have in the past- The link I sent has a lot of script backing up my information but I’m going to try going over it again here.
In You’re Getting Old, we see Stan increasingly struggling throughout the episode with his mental health as he falls into a deep depression. He suddenly can’t find joy in anything he used to and is frustrated and upset because of it. The only thing that does give him an inkling of happiness is being with his friends, but he can’t help but continue to complain and vent about anything the boys are doing no matter how hard they (particularly Kyle) tries to find ways to make him feel better and different things that he might enjoy. In the episodes, Stan isn’t just sad and mopey, he constantly talks about how shitty everything his friends find interest in is, making his problems everyone else’s. Once again, I do NOT think this is because Stan is a bad or selfish or mean person, nor do I think it’s fair to hold this behavior against him. He’s ten, he’s never had this problem before nor does he understand why he does. He’s frustrated and sad and the only thing that seems to improve his hurt feelings is to loudly tell everyone how unhappy he is and justify why things are making him unhappy by calling them bad. His behavior is extremely relatable and sympathetic I think to almost anyone who’s been depressed, myself included.
BUT. I ask you to also look at the episode from KYLE’S PERSPECTIVE. Stan’s birthday passes and suddenly, nothing he does makes his best friend happy. Everything he likes and enjoys is called shitty and bad and stupid and he feels utterly helpless to fix these problems that are far out of his control or understanding. And somehow forgotten by the fandom, Kyle DOES TRY. A LOT. But like Stan, he is only TEN. There is only so much he can do, and he can’t understand or relate to the pain Stan is feeling. He doesn’t know how to fix it, and knowing how frustrated Kyle gets in other cases when he can’t fix or help something, he’s probably feeling entirely helpless and irritated towards himself that he can’t solve Stan’s problems. There’s not really any sign Kyle doesn’t care about Stan suddenly because Stan is “no longer fun” or something like that. He just can’t really fix him??? And it’s not fair to put that on Kyle’s shoulders alone??
We don’t know how much time goes on between this last scene and the next when Stan catches his friends hanging out without him after pretending to be sick, but honestly I don’t really think it matters. The point is that Stan is understandably hurt to find that his friends don’t want to hang out with him as much as they used to, but I don’t think that is something he’s entitled to? Like, you’re not entitled to the constant attention of other people no matter what you’re going through, and they’re allowed to have space from you if they want it even if it’s because they’re struggling to handle your mental health. Can this come off as cold and cruel? I think so in some cases. I do agree that just abandoning a friend because of their sudden switch in mental health would be a bit nasty even if it’s entirely someone’s right, but that isn’t even what happened despite how hard the fandom tries to argue this.
In this scene, Kyle admits guiltily that he did lie about being sick because he needed a break and wanted to enjoy something without being constantly told everything he likes is shitty is bad. It makes sense he wouldn’t tell Stan- He knew this would only hurt him even though it’s completely fair of him to want some space. Kyle’s words here aren’t the most eloquent, but I remind you that he is a child who doesn’t understand what Stan is going through. He’s not mean, he’s blunt, and while he could’ve been nicer, I don’t think it’s fair to hold it against him considering his age and understanding of the situation.
Stan is hurt that his friends don’t want to not be around him. Kyle tells him quickly that it’s just one movie, and I don’t think it’s fair to assume Kyle is lying here considering more information we learn later. Stan begs to join them. Kyle tells him he can as long as he doesn’t complain the whole time. Stan proceeds to complain while watching despite his friends asking him to stop over and over again, and Kyle, finally fed up, storms out followed by Cartman and Kenny. Stan follows and is told by Cartman that they don’t want to hang out with him anymore, and then he and Kenny leave. In both the scene where Stan catches his friends lying and this one, Kenny and Cartman leave the moment Stan confronts them with little to no concern as to how Stan’s feeling or ever trying to mend the situation or explain themselves. I’m only noting this because I find it really funny that the fandom tries so hard to villainize Kyle as somehow being the worst friend ever in this episode but Kenny McCormick is never at all mentioned for how quick he was to completely drop Stan- Way quicker than Kyle who never even fully does so. I’ve even seen people try to make Kenny mad at Kyle for these episodes or critical towards him??? Like?? Did you not watch it??
But moving on from that, Kyle tells Stan that he’s changed. Stan tells Kyle that the world has changed, and Kyle tells him back that he doesn’t want to view the world in the way Stan is trying so hard to make him see. Once again, I don’t think Stan is bad for this- He wants someone else to understand how much pain he’s in so that they can help him and empathize with him. Kyle understandably doesn’t want to see the world in the same horrible way Stan has begun to, however!! And while I don’t blame Stan for wishing Kyle understood him, the way the fandom somehow expects Kyle to just dive headfirst into trying to view the world in the horribly negative way Stan is is sort of ridiculous and unfair??? “Oh man, my friend is depressed so now I have to be depressed too so that I can understand exactly how he’s feeling and fix all of his problems”- Putting aside that this isn’t really a realistic expectation for Kyle to just somehow do, it wouldn’t help and it’s pretty nasty to imply Kyle is bad for how he reacts to Stan’s words here. Once again, I agree that Kyle could’ve been better with his words here, but he doesn’t understand depression or how to help fix it or what to say.
This is the last of the dialogue between Stan and Kyle in this episode. From this, we can see Kyle hasn’t “abandoned Stan” and there’s more evidence of this in the future. Kyle has begun to set boundaries and wants space from Stan, he wants to be able to hang out with people who don’t insult everything he likes and who are fun to be around. He hasn’t DROPPED STAN. Stan isn’t entitled to constantly hang out with Kyle and Kyle is entitled to be apart from him and do things with other people sometimes! This isn’t disloyal or cold for him to do???
After this, Randy and Sharon divorce and Sharon moves herself and the kids out. This would have been a relatively long process that realistically should’ve taken place over like… Two or three weeks at least, if not a month or longer. But it’s pretty ridiculous to act like only a day or so passed since YGO and AB. In this montage, we see Kyle hesitantly approach Stan from behind when he’s sitting alone. He stops and then sadly walks away, seemingly not knowing what to do and giving up on helping at this moment. Later, we see Kyle playing video games with Cartman, and he smiles, enjoying himself. I’m going to expand on Kyle and Cartman’s relationship later but this is relevant.
Moving on to Ass Burgers, we see Stan is still depressed after the long time period that was heavily implied to have passed. Kyle and Cartman are back to arguing about aspergers. They leave the bus stop to go ask Kyle’s dad about it and Stan doesn’t follow. I guess you can argue Kyle abandoned Stan here?? Once again, I don’t think that Kyle is responsible for constantly tending to Stan and making sure he’s included, especially when Kyle has seen in the last couple of weeks that Stan has no interest in being involved (nor has he ever really liked being around Kyle and Cartman’s spats). Either way, I don’t think Kyle does anything that horrible here- At most you can argue maybe he could’ve been a bit more attentive?? Idk.
In the next scene, the boys are returned to class for skipping by Officer Barbrady, and the class starts talking about aspergers leading to Stan blowing up and telling everyone to shut up. He’s sent to Mr. Mackey’s office which leads to him falsely being diagnosed with aspergers instead of anyone recognizing his depression.
Later on, Wendy approaches Kyle in the hall. She asks Kyle about Stan, and he tells her that he’s tried to call Stan and hang out with him, but Stan has only gone even more downhill since his diagnosis. This implies that an even longer period of time has passed between the beginning of Ass Burgers and now, so this is probably even MORE time that Kyle still hasn’t just dropped Stan like the fandom likes to imply. Either way, it feels like a month or so has passed AT LEAST since Stan’s depression first started and now. Kyle is harsh with his next words, though I feel really bad for him here? He clearly cares a lot and feels horrible for Stan, but also frustrated and tired and hurting himself. Calling Stan a black hole was definitely not a good thing to do, but once again he’s 10 and yada yada doesn’t know better. He says he can’t keep doing this, that the negativity is hurting him and even making him become depressed himself. And finally, Kyle says he needs to let Stan go. So this is the scene, if any, that Kyle truly “drops” Stan, though even then I hesitate to so quickly call it that because of future actions he takes.
But yeah, so. This is it? This is why Kyle is such a horrible cold friend who doesn’t actually care about Stan?? Really?? Because he prioritized his own mental wellbeing?? It’s so fucking exhausting hearing this take, seeing people perpetuate the idea that Kyle has to let himself be hurt or else he’s a bad person. That he is somehow at fault for Stan’s worsening mental health. It’s a legitimately harmful idea, and once again while I don’t think most of the people spreading this take about Kyle actually believe these ideas, I really worry someone make take it to heart and think that they have to put their own wellbeing aside for the sake of someone else just because they’re struggling because they don’t want to be like Kyle in this episode. The episode itself isn’t even blaming Kyle in all of this. It’s just the fandom completely misunderstanding a lot of things because of the point of view being mostly from Stan’s and disregarding a lot of information the episode gives relating to Kyle in favor of having their helpless depressed baby who everyone hurts because no one loves him and that’s relatable, I guess? I don’t know. I can’t get into the minds of people who spread this idea but more often than not it just feels like they want to have Stan as their ‘does no wrong stand in’ to cope with their own problems and poor mental health, and while I think coping through characters is fine and entirely valid (I do as well), it’s really uncomfortable and frustrating seeing it come at the expense of other characters and spreading faulty ideas like this.
Kyle decides that he’s going to try and embrace everything moving forward with positivity because he doesn’t want to fall into the same depressive slump Stan is stuck in, and that leads to him furthering his friendship with Cartman with the Cartman Burger stuff.
In the next scene, Stan is forcibly made drunk for plot reasons. It makes him feel happy and okay again, and he ends up running back into Kyle. The following scene is why I don’t think Kyle ever truly drops Stan despite saying he’s going to. He doesn’t tell Stan he doesn’t want to see him anymore, the most he really does is tell Stan that things can’t just go back to normal, and he has other priorities now- Cartman Burger, which I guess could also be taken as being his friendship with Cartman himself if you’d like. He holds Stan, tries to give him advice about trying to take a “left turn”, and is genuinely glad to see Stan seemingly doing better even if he’s critical about him being drunk. Stan falls back into his old habits of insulting everything, and Kyle immediately recognizes this as Stan not “changing” which I agree is unfair of Kyle, but again, he’s a child and doesn’t understand depression or what Stan is going through (Especially with how Kyle has learned to deal with his own mental anguish which I expand on in the essay I linked earlier). Cartman urges Kyle to come back to work and Kyle starts to. Stan tells Kyle he loves him, and Kyle immediately comes back until Stan insults him and Kyle once again walks away. I don’t think Kyle has (at least not fully) dropped Stan here??? He’s setting??? Boundaries?? And not tolerating Stan insulting him, drunk and depressed or not?? Kyle seems accepting of the fact that their friendship is seemingly coming to a close but he’s still letting Stan be in his life and seems open to letting things improve. He just doesn’t want to have to be the one to fix it because he doesn’t know how and his own mental health was previously declining.
Stan is continuously forced to drink by the people supposedly giving him therapy, and ends up captured by a bunch of food restaurant mascots- dumb plot stuff. When sobered up, he’s interrogated by them. They don’t believe him about his failing friendship with Kyle, and basically put him down for walking away from his friendship with Kyle just because he was “feeling down” which obviously is unfair to Stan and not what happened.
Stan is forced to go back to Cartman Burger with a gun aimed at him to find out why the food tastes good. Kyle doesn’t know and clearly doesn’t realize Stan is being genuine when he claims he’s in danger in large part because he was previously claiming crazy shit when he was drunk. Kyle says the he’s sorry about what Stan is going through but the negativity is “poison” to him, which is pretty cold but ten year old who doesn’t understand- Plus at this point, Kyle seems frustrated Stan won’t respect his boundaries which isn’t justification but is at least why Kyle is probably being so blunt at this point in the first place. Stan apologizes but says he can’t help being depressed. Kyle points out that Stan verbally insulted him before, Stan claims to not realize what he was saying. Considering he’s a ten year old who was forced to drink, I think that’s fair but Kyle’s perspective is as well. Kyle relents and says he doesn’t know the information Stan needs, Cartman does.
Plot stuff happens and Stan becomes fed up with all of this stupid stuff, finally seeming to realizes that the people from his therapy are only hurting him and that accepts that things have changed and that it’s okay for life to move on even if he didn’t initially want it to. I don’t think I need to reiterate all of this but yeah, it’s just really sad how the episode ends with Stan finally okay with the changes in his life and ready to start new only for it all to go back to normal entirely, and then at the very end we see that he’s gone to drinking to cope with his depression. It sucks. I hate these episodes, not because I think they’re poorly written but they just generally make me extremely upset for Stan. But that’s basically everything with them revolving around Stan and Kyle.
As for Cartman and Kyle, I find it kind of frustrating that people view Kyle’s hanging out with Cartman so shallowly? Like, I don’t know. I’ve seen better worded meta on this in the past that I can’t find now relating to Cartman always immediately jumping in as their friend the moment Kyle or Stan aren’t together, and it’s very true. He suddenly isn’t insulting either of them (particularly Kyle) as much anymore. Now he acts like their friend and tries to get close with them, and this is pretty much because he can never compete as the best friend for Stan or Kyle when put against their counterpart, not when they’re getting along. He’ll always be second in getting the attention he craves from them. So instead, he’s mean and annoying and though the attention isn’t positive, it’s still attention and he’s getting a lot of it, especially from Kyle who’s so quick to fight against him if Cartman tries to anger him. There’s plenty of scenes and episodes where he immediately fills the space left by either Stan or Kyle being missing from the duo, and it feels very intentional on Cartman’s part. Even in Ass Burgers itself, Cartman takes deliberate steps to separate Stan and Kyle when they’re talking, watching closely when Stan comes to Kyle drunk and swooping in to get between them when it's convenient to break them apart again. He wants to be the center of attention with both of them, especially Kyle. He wants them paying attention to HIM, not each other, and if he can get in there when they’re not happy with each other to come off like the good guy, he’s going to do it. He’s just manipulative like that, and Kyle, oh so ready to see the good in people, even those as bad as Cartman, is ready to forgive and forget if he sees an improvement and to believe Cartman truly is becoming a better person. Kyle is easy to manipulate like that- Or at least he used to be, I think he’s learned to be more distrustful since then but at least at the point in time these episodes came out, Kyle was always very quick to believe in the good in people and believe they were genuine when they showed improvement. We see this even in later episodes like Ginger Cow when Kyle for a moment seemed very ready to believe Cartman when he came to apologize for lying. I don’t think it was as simple as “Kyle picked Cartman over Stan” like some people like to imply.
Anyway, sorry if any of this is rambly or messily written. It’s hard to go over the entirety of an episode completely through text, and I’m sure some parts are a bit slow, but I hope it’s generally understandable and easy to read.

hi mel! 💞 i love ur writing sm, i’ve been here since u started planning moth to flame and i love it! but like i’m just curious, what is with hating apollonia so much? like i get that ppl misunderstand her and michaels relationship, but what makes apollonia so annoying? i get that she was naïve but she was only like 16 so it makes sense + she only spoke a few times in the movie so idk how u could hate her tbh. i’m sure she was diff in the book, but still…
no hate at all, just curious! 💕
Hello and thank you very much!! 🥰❤️ Thank you for all your support from the very beginning! 😍
Tbh I wouldn't consider hating Apollonia "so much". It's more that I hate Apollonia stans, honestly. 😭 I haven't ever interacted with one that hasn't gone straight to slandering Kay (calling her stupid, ugly, annoying, bratty), hating how independent Kay can be, how Kay actually cares for the wellbeing of her children, and how Kay stands up to Michael's bullshit and lies. 😐 It's not even valid criticism, it's straight up spewed hate and misogynistic comments. This probably stems from their relentless support of Michael getting his way and thriving. If Kay remains quiet and naïve, it fulfils the fantasy of Michael getting what he wants with full support.
Apollonia herself is annoying because she's whiny, immature and naive herself. 🥱 She also isn't entirely the "obedient, Sicilian housewife" the boomers who fawn over her say she is. Knowing Michael's being hunted down and searched for, she still insisted on driving his car and in the book, went against Michael's wishes to stay by his side and relocate villas because they had been too visible in Sicily. Instead, she went to stay at her parents' home for a while and even Michael expressed his disappointment in the book considering she didn't spend a second longer with him in bed after they had sex in the morning knowing it was their last day. She also just packed her things after getting out of the washroom whereas Michael thought they'd spend some time together eating breakfast. 🤔 That kind of behaviour would have killed Apollonia in the US right quick if she didn't already blow to pieces in Sicily, like when Calo mentioned "she'll make a great American wife".
Michael literally was getting the news that Sonny died and things weren't looking too great back home and we got Apollonia whining about driving a car and saying "you promised!". She's extremely annoying and childish. I get that she's literally a teenager but I never supported the whole child marriage thing with Michael anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I cannot stand the idolization of Apollonia because she's quiet, a housewife and submissive to Michael. It absolutely disgusts me tbh. I don't like everything she represents in the film/book. Those would essentially be my reasons. 😌

fuck I love this fic so much. The way you write this family is unmatched tbh like so few fics from any fandom make me feel this level of emotion and I am so glad I stumbled across it one day. Ok so this chapter: fuckfuckfuckfuckshit. I CANT BELIEVE ALEC WAS THERE AND SAW THE KISS. And the vomiting👍 and the not smoking or drinking yesssssss alec make good choices!!!!! I lovedddd Alec’s conversation with max and it’s so frustrating as the reader to understand what they are both thinking but them not understanding eachother but such good shit honestly. I love max’s character and although I empathised with him and understood his motivations, this chapter really reminded me of the maturing that max is still missing, the way he was speaking to alec was just so obviously TEENAGER. Just the way he was so defensive and not taking in Alec’s legitimate concerns about both his and Davids wellbeing. And maybe it was just because I am an alec Stan first and foremost but I was definitely getting frustrated at Max’s selfishness though I completely get where it is coming from and why he comes across that way idk I don’t want to talk bad about Max I love him but he is frustrating in this scene😭 And fuck alec. ALEC. Alecalecalec. I love this character so much and I think it’s because I relate more to magnus and want an alec in my life but also as an older sibling I really GET him ya know? It’s a mixture between being able to relate and admiration of him. So seeing him falling apart like this was actually really therapeutic because he fucking deserves it. Like other than jace, we’ve not really seen him been taken care of despite suffering just as much as the other characters. And I can’t wait for them to really SEE the pain he’s been dealing with alone. We got a glimpse of this with max which was stunning and beautiful and painful as it should be and I loved how max instantly became so much more childlike seeing his father cry like that. I can’t I just love their relationship and how much max loves Alec and how much he hates seeing alec cry. Of course the ending was tragic and painful and suspenseful and I’m so invested in Max and David and hate it coz I can see where that’s going😭 but I can’t help but worry that it’s going to be another distraction from Alec getting the support he needs because yet again, someone else is in pain and I can see him pulling it together to help max and David (I rlly hope my suspicions about David rn are not correct) and Alec’s emotional needs are gonna get ignored again for the sake of his family. Sorry I know my alec Bias is coming out but that’s just coz it’s a alec centric chapter😅 I love all the characters and have plenty of appreciation for max and David’s relationship but idk it feels like alec really hasn’t had a proper moment of happiness and he needs a fucking break but I’m loving the angst and the buildup and the complications and your writing is perfect ok bye.
Thank you. 💙💙
Here have a Max and Alec tiktok :)

these shippers don’t stan tae and i’m not even sure they stan the girl. lying through their teeth that they want to stay private when if that’s the case you don’t stage a shady ass walk and ask the pap to capture it for u. u don’t play dumb and not address the rumor and let anyone and everyone make a joke of ur personal lives and drag your significant other. and u definitely don’t post smth that literally proves you weren’t even there at the same time as him. it’s actually pathetic. it’s been 2 months and the attention has shifted and she decided to bring it back to herself because her company is a mess and so is her career. and then you have tae coming on live right after he landed and showing us the car seat next to him to tell us it’s empty and that he’s not waiting for her at the airport like shippers hoped he would be. he’s the real one we should be praising. i hope he stays strong and has good people around him who keep supporting and having his back.
hi anon i completely agree with you and i couldn’t have said it better, if they have no problems in being spotted holding hands in paris (let’s ignore the shady weird circumstances in which it happened) and if taehyung “dgaf and wants to go public” why no one is saying anything? why no confirmation? why everything always drops from HER side and always when it’s the most convenient time for her (yg stocks dropping, lisa not renewing, lisa dating rumors, disbandment rumors)? and i also feel like people are forgetting that hybe and yg are working together recently.
taehyung will never acknowledge her and will continue to do so. if it’s real i want them to confirm it so that taehyung can stop being stalked and followed everywhere i only care about his safety wellbeing AND artistry.

Billy is an abuse victim and is also deeply closeted. He was abused by his cruel and homophobic father, and abuse is a cycle. Y’all love will because he was abused and remained a good person. Y’all love El and Max and characters like that because they did the same. But not everyone who is abused turns out to be a “good person,” and that’s okay. Billy’s story was incomplete, but he was on the path to redemption. He also wasn’t always like that, which season 3 flashback’s showed. He is a product of his environment. Y’all hate Billy because you can’t handle that an abuse victim might act in ways that make you feel uncomfortable. But not everything is “safe.” The system is full of people who have been discarded and cast out as too far gone. Jail cells are full of such kids, do you support the prisons being full? Sometimes people are messy and even violent but that doesn’t make them worthless. Billy, deep down inside, obviously loved Max and wanted what was best for her. He was never written to be a pure villain as you claim; the Duffers gave him nuance. Bylers love to talk a big game about how everything’s intentional in ST but only when it comes to your uwu nice gay boys. And you wanna call Billy stans racist, but I’m literally half-black. I recognize that there’s racism in Billy but why does that have to define him forever? Why can’t a traumatized deeply broken deeply terrified deeply anxious closeted young man who only knows how to react to pain with violence and being hot get the love and intentionality he deserves?
Jesus christ...
I don't think that abuse victims never turn out to be like that. I just know that having a history of trauma is not an excuse for shitty behaviour. Of course part of why I love those characters is because they were able to stay good in the face of evil: that takes a lot of strength and it's a strength that I admire. Does that mean it isn't sad when some people succumb to the abuse and repeat the cycle? No. But it doesn't mean I have to like a character who makes choices I disagree with.
Billy needed help and to put in the work to be a better person. But he didn't. As I said in my post: is that tragic, sure? But does that mean people should like him, no. Just because someone has a history of trauma doesn't mean they're a good person. If someone does shit like that, I can't see how you can support him. It's not about him doing things that make me feel "uncomfortable" - it's about him literally being a racist abuser??
I don't know what you mean by his story was "incomplete" - how he was on a path to redemption. How?? What shows that? Because he had one moment of doing something good? I already said why that doesn't really mean anything to me (it's the same reason why I still feel iffy about Hopper's character). Or just because we saw his backstory, you retroactively began to believe he had to be a good person? Explanation does not equal justification.
I never he said he was written to be a pure villain. I said he was written to be an antagonist. Even though he had nuance that doesn't mean he was supposed to fill any role other than that. Jason was also an antagonist with nuance. He wasn't just hunting down Eddie for shits and giggles, he genuinely believed Hellfire was doing horrifying things to people and that Eddie played a role in the brutal murder of his girlfriend. Does that mean he wasn't an antagonist? Does that mean he was a good person or that he made good choices or that I should like him simply because he had reasons? You could even say the same thing about Vecna even though he is actually written as a villain - doesn't mean anyone should support him.
Also I never said he was worthless. But it's not worth it to be around someone who harms your wellbeing in that way, especially when they show no signs of changing.
And I like your comment about apparently only thinking ST is intentional when it comes to my "uwu gay boys". Lmao I interact with a lot of analyses that don't have anything to do with Byler, first of all. Secondly, you know you really sound homophobic by referring to them that way instead of just saying "your ship". And thirdly, understanding that even though Billy was a complex character, he still wasn't a good person doesn't mean I don't think anything to do with his character wasn't intentional. I don't see how the two correlate. Intentionality in the byler fandom usually has to do with the future of the narrative and character's arcs/journeys - small clues/behaviours/hints toward what might happen with them later, that a lot of people ignore. Billy didn't have a future - he died. So I don't know what you're even talking about here: the handling of the character?
Of course, whatever happened with him was intentional. His story was tragic BECAUSE it was written with intention but that still doesn't mean I have to like/support him and that doesn't justify the posts I've come across from billy apologists saying some of the most horrid shit about Max/justifying his abusive tendencies.
I've never called billy stans racist lol This is the first time I have ever spoken about billy on my blog and this was in response to a few specific posts I saw and in particular "billy apologists" (as I said, in my original post). I don't care if you're black. I'm black too. Do our opinions cancel out now?
Why do his choices have to define him forever? Because he never changed them. Because he died a person who made bad choices and was abusive and racist. He never put in the work to be a better person so why should he have the privilege of being remembered as one? When other people actually put in the long-term effort to make the positive impacts on other people that grant you that right? That's so stupid.
People get chances to change - if you miss them, you stay the same person. And people will remember you as that person. Hell, sometimes people DO change and others STILL see them as who they used to be - because they're not aware of that change (e.g. Jonathan still sees Steve as immature because he has never seen anything to prove that assertion wrong) and that's not anyone's problem.
That's life.

I have a question. I've been watching Lokis film (marvel movies) and i really loved Lokis character. I don't know why others call him evil. I really loved him. I wanted to know does real loki and marvel loki related to each other? And i really want to talk or meet real one . Is this possible? Even i don't have an spacial religion can i still be in contact with loki and talk to him?
Hi Nonny,
I admire your enthusiasm, and I know you probably didn't intend to be offensive in any way, but please take a step back for a moment and think about how this comes across.
In a hypothetical scenario where you had zero background in Christianity, could you see yourself going to a Christian after binging Good Omens and saying, "Hey, that Aziraphale guy was pretty cool in Good Omens! I've done no further research and have no intention of becoming a Christian, but would it be okay if I prayed to one of your holy figures?" Yes, I am aware that Aziraphale doesn't actually exist in Christianity, but that's the point. Without researching the actual religion, you wouldn't know!
If you wouldn't do this, why do you consider it okay here? Is it because you see our faith as less serious or less real? If so, why do you want to interact with one of our gods in the first place?
If you actually would, can you maybe see how self-centered this view of religion is? How maybe taking people's sincerely held beliefs, conflating them with comedic works of fiction, and asking them for access to their sacred rites without any obligation to follow their traditions or honor their sacredness might be rude?
The MCU barely resembles actual Norse myth or Heathen religion at all. The character of Loki in the MCU barely resembles the Loki of Norse myth or Heathen religion, in terms of divine role or relationships with the other gods or even basic personality traits. Here's a post that lists some of the most glaring differences, but it's far from an exhaustive list.
To be clear, there's nothing wrong with first learning about Loki through the MCU or other pop culture. Most people do nowadays. There's also nothing wrong with being a Marvel fan and worshiping Loki, in the same way there are plenty of Christians who enjoy Good Omens and Dogma and The Life of Brian. Most people are able to separate religion from fictional works loosely based on religion. It's just that if you take those pieces of media and treat them as an introduction to the actual faith, you're going to get a very, very wrong picture.
And I absolutely do encourage you to get a more accurate picture! But for both your sake and the sake of people you interact with, it's important to go in with the mindset that this is and was people's actual religion. And it's important to go in with the mindset that this is a god.
Whether or not you intend to convert to a new religion, the sort of spirit work your ask suggests you're looking to undertake pretty much inevitably will alter your beliefs and perception of reality. (And not even necessarily in a theistic direction.) This almost always causes an existential crisis. The work is, in fact, more or less intended to do that! It may severely negatively impact your mental health in a lot of other ways. Whether or not you believe any actual metaphysical forces are involved, the psychological buttons these techniques are deliberately pressing in order to induce altered states are very real.
There's are reasons initiations exist in many mystical traditions, and reasons clergy and spirit workers generally require a training period working with more experienced practitioners, and one of them is that having support while grappling with this stuff is really important. Even in the best case scenario, it's a whole lot of hard work and emotional struggle.
People find the work worth it, or they wouldn't do it. I'm not trying to scare you away if it's something you genuinely want. But for your own wellbeing it's important to understand the gravity here. This is not the kind of thing you pick up for fun on a whim purely because you stan a character in a superhero franchise.
If you would still know yet more, we have a reading list where you can find more on the myths involving Loki and modern Heathen spirituality. We also have an FAQ that covers the basics of building your own practice--including, yes, an introduction to communicating with Loki (in ways that don't require deliberately entering an altered state) and discerning whether to give that communication any more weight than you would typically give your own imagination speaking to you.
I genuinely do wish you a fruitful spiritual journey, wherever it may lead, and apologize if this post comes across as overly harsh. It's just that not addressing this stuff and giving you an unqualified green light would ultimately have been doing you a disservice.

My thoughts for Legacies 316: (here we go again😂)
(I’m combining after thoughts with live thoughts)
1) The soundtracks for this episode are amazing, they fit very well even for Finsie that I heard that a lot of people were complaining on Reddit.
2) I finally get my team Sowanby! I just feel so much from them! They kind of make a great team, but please, do not go on another heist again. You both sucks at that! The holes are, the museum don’t have a fucking alarm for Leonardo DaVinci’s work? Are you kidding me? And Landon beating the shit out of the guard but not putting him out first is so dumb. The worst is Cleo calling Landon’s name so loud, I can’t😂😂😂😂😂😂 you don’t want people to be on your back when you have the Malivore threat going on guys! And ha! You guys are on the headline! That’s why I really feel like these supernaturals are so outdated and solidified from modern technology, even in 2030! Are you going to tell me everything technology will still be the same like now?? Come on, there’ll be cameras watching everywhere. Like they can see Cleo using magic! I need my Trimini (or bridge) coven and Hope starting to integrate the supernatural world with the modern world. About Trimini and Hope future career, click here.
Tumblr media
3) the line about “many who shaped it are never acknowledged” I stand! After that, about the key card my random thoughts were about Landon being the one that stole the key card😂 just out of the blue and I’m proven wrong though.
Tumblr media
4) Landon bonding with Cleo!!!! They thought the same way, and “I can promise that anyone that have to get to you, they have to get to me” is so strong! But the scene after, is the moment I started really doubting Landon, the look is too alarming. But there are still Sowanby scenes😭😭😭 and the melted heart mud... I mean I genuinely believed that the spell didn’t work because Landon is also mud himself. But in hindsight it is horrific, like the serial killer is just standing next to you but and the signs are right in front of you.
Tumblr media
5) Malivore mud being artistically friendly! I can’t haha! Oh and when Holarke walked on Sowanby inspiring moment🤣🤣🤣I can’t, they act like both of them are cheating on one another it’s hilarious. Thank you for acknowledging each other Holarke and Sowanby🤣. By now, I should have known that’s MaliLandon. It’s humiliating because Holarke and Sowanby got me so happy that I didn’t see the clues lmao! Because there’s this line: “Following the footstep of the Renaissance greatest man? ” but this thing, Cleo only did it with Leonardo, with whom she slept with......
6) And damn, after that, I felt like a FOOL, CLOWN, WHATEVER after that! All I have for team Sowanby is fake 🙃🙃🙃🤡🤡🤡 Anyway we still have to admit that the promise still stand true right, cuz it’s literal.🤣🤣🤣 MaliLandon fulfills his promise by eating Cleo. TYPICAL.
7) Holarke! Clarke is still handsome as ever😍. We can see his presence is clearly affecting Josie and making Hope giving him information. Can we talk about how cute is he sleeping soundly here?
Tumblr media
8) Lizzie being the only unaffected queen here. AND IT’S FINALLY LIZZIE’S TURN FOR “AD SONNUM” I can totally see her pleasantness in doing that to somebody after being on the receiving end🤣🤣🤣 Josie and Hope had done it before so now we actually see her doing it. I somehow feel completed.
9) The look Hope and Josie shared. Hosie!
10) Josie is going to be the death of me! I like her look. And how the camera moving upward gosh! And I’m totally digressing here, what is a razzleberry? And what is a slush? I have no idea what they are, I just feel like tasting what she tasting now. Lizzie’s line, crashing and splashing😂 Am I colour blind? Cuz I really can’t tell whether Hope is wearing dark blue or dark green 😅 if it’s green, then the traffic lights colour are back again lol. If blue, then Hosie matching clothes! Did Finsie ever have matching colours? I’m just wondering.
Tumblr media
11) Hosie scene! They talked about how seeing Clarke traumatised Josie~~ damn and Josie says traumatised is her permanent resting state. I mean even on her birthday she was buried alive lmao. And Hope wants to help Josie stop the traumas by sacrificing herself to defeat Malivore, like by literally dying. Which she didn’t want because she didn’t want to live forever.
12) Holarke scene again! I love all those banters and their dynamics😂😂 how Hope is the only one that trusts Clarke now. The mimic spell! It’s their thing😍😍. Oh it totally surprised me that Clarke isn’t mud man anymore. I’m really happy for him, because he finally break himself out of the abuse! It seems like triad is totally gone?? But I still kind of think that there may be something more? And Clarke’s reaction to Hope opening the artefact! 🤣🤣🤣 and the way that Clarke sensed the familiarity with Cleo! Yea boy, she’s the inspiration to the creation of you.
13) Clarke keeps calling Hope and Landon kids🤣 how’s the feeling of getting kid!Hope kicking your ass and saving you😂😂😂 oh she’s totally your equal. Frenemies at best! YES! I love Holarke bonding. And the fact that Clarke being Hope inspiration to believe in friendship and her family now can help her to defeat Malivore, I Stan! Don’t lose sight of the corner! Josie! Lizzie! Clarke! Yes you have them! I’m glad that Clarke didn’t die, I’ll be so mad because the writer would be bringing him back for nothing. Oh the incendia is painful, affecting me more than the fake looking MaliLandon eating Cleo. The height difference again🤣 with Holarke this time.
Tumblr media
14) I love Maleb clothes, not really shipping them just short form for their bromance😂 but I do enjoy if there suggests shipping cuz it’s fun! Love that them being supportive of each other, superheroing, and the hero name🤣🤣they’re clueless too. Poor Kaleb and Cleo. I really need his backstory 😫
15) about hero names, I’m still having playback of “blursome and essential” in my mind. MG is looking at the mask longer than Kaleb, I feel like he’s missing Ethan, like a lot. Another thing is, since we see the effect of someone else being compelled so clearly, but we never seen Ethan’s compelling effects. Or it’s a budget matter? They must be kidding right? So maybe Ethan is really faking it? So that leads us to Lethan....
16) if my suspicion is true, then damn, Ethan is using Lizzie to get into SBS? I’m worried for Lizzie’s wellbeing. Also the look on Josie when Ethan drives near tight after she said like some eligible will fall out of the sky🤣🤣🤣 the timing is impeccable lmao. For real, Lizzie wanting Ethan to be Hope’s rebound after her kiss with him in the trio imagination, is ....so the trio is now sharing guys now? Jandon is still there in the history! It’ll be like a very messing love multi-triangle😌😌😌
17) the way Lizzie talked about how Hope is perfect the whole way and judging by the day when they arrived at SBS? That’s very long! Lmao, Lizzie are you sure you’re not in love with Hope? Hizzie rights! (I don’t even know when I started to ship Hizzie, it’s a mystery🤣) I think I can only talk like that about my love. Why don’t you make you and your sister Hope’s rebound? I’ll be happy with what I get🤣
18) The decision to bring Ethan on a tour, is so bad. What if ethan ended up enrolling SBS and Alaric can’t deny the application? Did she ever think of that?? And Josie and Mg is going to face the consequences in the near future🤣 dreadful! From there I already felt the cliche sweetness that when you’re trying to be a wingwoman and ended up “selling” yourself out🤣🤣 fuck CW for cutting the scenes of Lizzie’s epic facial expression when she was slapped with her own words😂😂😂anyway, it’s no way she can refuse the ask out after 315 where Lizzie still thinks that she can’t be the chosen one when Hope is there, but someone actually chooses her even after all the Hope is perfect speech. As much as I mourn for Methan and Mizzie, I’m happy that she got someone to tell her that. But I think they’re destined to backfire😅
19) so does the Mizzie “will they won’t they?” officially end here? I’m confused. Btw it’s really a way to mention Sebastian’s death being relocated permanently 🤣 oh wait...she knew that that prison world is destroyed forever right????? Someone save me.
Tumblr media
20) okay I have to go back before Ethan picked the twins up: while Lizzie is actually worrying about themselves being stranded, Josie is just more concerned about Hope? Hosie! Poor Josie, she never sees that she is Hope soft spot and can totally make Hope happy too. Look at your dumb joke at 103, Hope’s laugh is magnificent too. It’s because of you. And yes I’m with Josie, I just ship Hope with herself and her axe right now, don’t put her with anyone for at least 5 more episode please.
21) The one that doesn’t dissolve into goo! Now is Clarke! And the both of you my dear twins. Btw, the dna thing, where Clarke confirms that dna is still toxic... so it applies to Landon too right? And it’s now just more overwhelmingly apparent that handon sex is without protection. Yea so much for epic love. And this is about the possibility where (hopefully) it’s not MaliLandon when the sex scene happened.
22) Finsie time! I got to say, it’s really improving. Their scene is beautiful, finally. That feeling that they’re nice together is now going on continuous for me. I’m happy for them! They are now stepping up on Hosie, not derogatory, I’m just seeing some parallels from hosie here. The disclose of Ethan broken arm, where Hosie has done, before that there’s Clarke’s traumatising Josie thing with Hosie. Next, the focus on the hand holding, I’m thinking of 207 and others. The “me being here with you”, with hosie 308 “then I’ll be here with you”. The whole thing is very comforting for Josie. The hug is good too. We can see that they finally have some nice scene and the bgm is good for them.
Tumblr media
23) I have no idea what is magical agronomy, so I look it up. Again, that shows how Josie love plants, like someone in Reddit said they observed that Josie’s side of room has several plants. And in 307, the herbs, that she remembers. I think it can help a lot if Hope is starting a magical technology company. Josie’s interest in that can come in handy. They’ll make a great team. About TRIMINI INDUSTRIES tap here.
24) we are still missing Jed here. Justice for Jed. We need Jed real first name. Did anyone notice when the super squad faces MaliLandon theres no werewolf present? They’re really downplaying that huh? But maybe I can be satisfied that they are not making Finch being there but not Jed.
25) We need to address this thing about Handon. It’s like one and a half time that Hope couldn’t recognise that Landon is not Landon right? We still have to give credits to her memories shared with Cleo actually make Cleo kind of recognise the difference? So half a time. I agree with Josie’s words that Landon makes Hope happy. I mean, yes, most of the time they failed in working but there’s still sweet scenes between them. So that’s actually what makes Handon tolerable. They are what makes me only do facepalm rather than skipping them. So yes of course Hope has happy moments with Landon. Just that it doesn’t mean that they’re good together.
26) it’s always Landon’s bros that first find out Landon wasn’t Landon😂 this time is Clarke. It’s Clarke that tell Hope, “Landon will never leave you”. That’s the inconsistency of the writers, not counting MaliLandon’s time, it’s still two times. And there’s time that some will argue that Landon’s feet literally walk away from Hope. So...that’s not true, do not stuff that in our throat anymore. “I always thought you two are destined to be together” is this the writer way of saying they’re not doing Handon anymore or otherwise? Cuz “thought” is past tense and “are” is present tense. I’m tired. It’s normal that Hope still wants Landon to be happy and still love him. But after the breakup, when she still doesn’t know that it’s MaliLandon, the “still dying to get Landon again” is obsession. Girl, it’s derogatory to your self-esteem. “If a mud man like me can beat his fate, maybe you kids can too” yea that’s Handon going on.
27) we shouldn’t need to be told that Handon is epic love multiple times. We should be able to feel them, see them ourselves. Why did I start approving Finsie now, because instead of them being only all talking and no showing, now we see them working well (until now). I have been widely accepting to any other legacies ships and why I never ship Handon? So really these multiple telling us that how good is Landon to Hope, is not working. I’ve never been so frustrated.
Tumblr media
28) Let’s appreciate the Handon parallel with 101. It’s interesting that how Landon is inside the cage and Hope is outside the cage again. The meaning of the cage has deep meaning here. Handon first kiss is in the cage, that kind of mean that their love is trapped there. Like how their relationship being so troublesome and bound by these fateful encounters. The lights are quite similar, handon always has this blue lighting for them, which sometimes it’s kind of weird. The first time it is Hope decorating the ceiling with stars for Landon. It’s sweet, but also implying that what Handon has is the false beauty of them and not keeping the cage symbolism in mind. In other way of interpreting it, this is the writer foreshadowing their endgame. Cuz they’re trapped there, no way in no way out.
29) I think I’m not the only one bothered by the mostly lack of real Landon appearance in s3. As we can see how MaliLandon words sits so right about, Landon not belonging to SBS if it weren’t Hope. Then he leaves with Cleo, that’s a thing for Sowanby too, they still don’t have roots with the school, and it’s a great bonding between them, friendship or not. It’s the bond between them that matter. In 314 315, we always see that the students were totally fine without Landon. Like the three trios paralleling? It’s sad that Landon is like bouncing here and there in SBS but never really belong. And now the writers kind of ripped his personal development. So now he has neither his pheonix powers nor fighting skills, great? And even Hope’s growth too. We are seeing her moving to a good direction and the writers have to drag her back in the hell hole. Hope needs to not always looking at Landon for her happiness, it’s not good for the both of them. Like MG said, be your own person.
30) THEORIES regarding Landon: a) It’s MaliLandon all the way? I hope not, it’s reminding me of Lost Girl that one of the characters slept with the father personating the person she loves, and got pregnant. Tell you what was more alarming? When the episode ended, I was recommended to move on to Lost Girl on CW seed. It’s disgusting! Why do you want to help make me hate Handon? I don’t even hate them initially! I’m like struggling to be logical and lean on the positive side here. Why I can’t move on from this possibility: first, I’ve always headcannon that Malivore has partial control over Landon. Like how Landon actually wasn’t lying in 102 103? That’s Malivore. And Handon, as genius as always, doesn’t talk about it. Second, the way that Landon dissolved, he was human back then, but he turns into goo? how does it even work? If he is human, toxic to dna will make him die, not become goo, right? Even if that wasn’t a problem, it can also be MaliLandon trying his luck. Third, Malivore purpose is to make the perfect legacy, he will totally give it a try to make tribrid-Malivore babies. Fourth, during the inspiration from Cleo, MaliLandon has Landon’s memories, enhancing the theories that Malivore has partial control over Landon, so even if it wasn’t MaliLandon, it’s still partial-MaliLandon. Fifth, after the inspiration, MaliLandon said that he doesn’t need Hope to tackle his problem or for his purposes, which means he initially wanted Hope, thinking getting to Hope can help with his purposes. It’s really not a far-fetched.
31) THEORIES regarding Landon: b) it’s real Landon during sex, but Malivore got him in the prison world. While having Landon’s personal growth ripped and Handon still dragging out are not pleasant at all, this is still a more pleasant theory for me. At least Landon did start fighting for himself after sometime, and while the sex is still partial-MaliLandon, at least it’s not MaliLandon. (I’m always using at least for Handon 🙃) maybe we can still have Landon fighting skills? Cuz I was happy for him about this though. But I just don’t think so. The evidence for this theory is, my feeling about Landon in 306 is that it kind of fits Landon personality, but he did start his violence there. Another thing is the letter. There’s care in “to whom it may concern”. However, that can be just me being simp. And there’s also possibilities that the partial control from Malivore is cultivating Landon’s behaviour starting there and slowly taking control. Because making a deal with the devil always has its consequences. It’s either that or Landon was taken after the letter.
Tumblr media
32) regarding the picture above, i just want to point out about another interesting point about the structure of the scene, if you scroll back and see sowanby picture with the door and another bonding talk, you can se that there’s always pillar and frames that’s framing or trapping them together. Like Handon. I mean that’s totally MaliLandon, so this pointing out is not mean to be romantic. It’s just a thought about how devastating that Cleo is stuck in something her whole life, especially the picture structure that implies that she’s stuck with MaliLandon again.
33) overall I’m thinking this is a good and disgusting episode. With all the unexpected twist, it’s really good, there’s actually layers in showing us that Landon is not Landon every time. Then those bonding. The soundtrack, the scenes. Disgusting, is about the theory, and how we are all tangled back to Handon again after we finally have some fresh air. Not to mention the always surprisingly convenient that Landon always has an excuse when we see Landon did something bad to Hope. Like he can never be making big mistake while only having little questionable doings that can’t possible tarnish him being the perfect person in the show. The first time he lies, Malivore controlled him. During the pageant competition, he is justified to walk away when he totally chose the wrong timing to ask that question, leaving Hope alone breaking in front of such important event. 207, monsters are coming for him, he’s protecting people by leaving. Musical episode, he needs to cross boundaries because it’s bound to be, without further reasoning it with Hope, when Hope specifically was very respectful of him in 111 about his songs. And now, this. That’s not him, we can’t blame him. He will never be blame for something big because the writers is biased. Very biased in making that Landon is better than anyone else in the show, so he’s the perfect guy for Hope. Like no one can compare with him. He’s almost perfect. Perfect than Hope.
34) Reflect on what Hope did in 308, MG is kind of right, she shouldn’t have touched it without fully prepared. Because it totally let Malivore running out free instead of him being an originally contained problem. It’s for the good view in whole. Heroes make hard decisions. There’s still the hair thing cut from Hope and Golem!Landon.
These pictures is my work, while it’s easy to get it yourself, and not that I’m professional in doing this. But I still did screenshot them one by one and did some editing. So please like or label the sources when you save or use it. ♥️

Stan culture bears a good amount of blame
Tumblr media
You could write a ten-volume set documenting the failures of Democratic leadership over the past four decades. I’ve been paying close attention to them since I’ve been old enough to care about politics and I’m sure I’m aware of only a fraction of the party’s incompetence, hubris, and idiocy. By no means I am suggesting that the angle of this post is definitive; it’s merely worthy of discussion.
Because, really, it’s just so obvious, isn’t it? The (post)-Obama Democratic coalition isn’t a political movement so much as a fandom. And that makes sense. Obama was the most charismatic politician and talented campaigner of my lifetime. The fact that his ideological leanings and style of governance were both broadly unappealing and materially harmful to his voting base simply did not factor in to how the public perceived of him. He’s a cool guy, handsome and quick-witted. An aspirational figure, someone voters can pretend to hang out with or hope they grow up to resemble. It would be folly, we are told, to expect him to do anything for us. We should instead desire to be him, to relish in his success as if it were our own.
Sadly for the party, figures such as Obama come around only once in a very long while. Most who share similar talents either lack his ambition or possess enough moral self-awareness to want nothing to do with politics. And yet... the strategy remained.
Hillary’s supporters spoke of their preferred candidate in terms reminiscent of a middle school girl arguing over which member of BTS is the cutest: her favorite is obviously the best, and anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid and mean. Asking about Hillary’s platform was an expression of male entitlement. Wondering what her presidency would do to address our increasingly undeniable problems is at best naive, at worst actively racist or even fascist. They were selling a star, not a politician. And they got what they wanted: the least issues-focused campaign in recorded history.
Hillary’s star was not so bright as Obama’s. Nor was it as bright as that of a crudely abusive C-tier reality show host. Maybe if she was going up against the bald dude from Pawn Stars she could have pulled it off. But Trump was network, not basic cable, and she just didn’t have that kind of screen presence.
Yet, still... the strategy remained. Even more inexplicably now, since the party was basically out of anyone who had national-level name recognition. Rather than focus their attention on a primary figure, the party’s acolytes and media apparatus began boosting a constellation of more niche figures. Their tone was no less star-struck or worshipful, but the objects of adoration had less and less broad appeal.
Chief among these was Ruth Bader Ginsburg. People who previously could not name a single Supreme Court justice suddenly, around 2014, found it hilarious to pretend that this burnt scarecrow of a jurist was secretly a black rapper. Yes, her judicial record was about as horrific as you’d expect. Yes, she called Colin Kapernick’s protest stupid and voted in favor of allowing employers to not pay workers for forced time theft, but those inconsistencies only matter if we’re talking about political figures. RGB was a star.
And, well, you know where this is going. Dems refused, very proudly, to understand politics in political terms. The question of the court was instead one of fandom, celebrity worship, and a bizarrely parasocial identification of themselves with a handful of arbitrarily boosted public figures. Asking Ginsburg to care about the future wellbeing of the people who worshiped her would like expecting Kanye to buy a house for each of his fans.
That didn’t work out too hot. But, still, I’m sure the strategy will remain, only with even less appealing figures for people to glom on to. The Cuomosexuals might have deleted their old posts, sure, but someone even goonier and emptier is certain to emerge from the rubble of Biden administration and lead this party, happy and singing and doing their repulsive little dances, even further into the depths of hell.

bucky stans have truly ruined the sambucky fandom. the fics are trash because it's all "uwu hurt bucky whump white man tears" with no character development and sam being pigeonholed into a constant caretaker role as if that his only trait and being runner up to steve's ghost. the tfatws meta is garbage and mostly racist. so many of these folks managed to have empathy for everyone BUT sam. some of you have already said this but it's worth repeating: pre-tfatws was really peak sambucky hours. except for a handful of writers and sam-centric creators, the rest is the pits now honestly

at this point, if you cannot see bucky as anything but a victim and sam as anything but an emotional mule, I'm gonna need you to keep your meta in the drafts until you've got the range, because right now you don't. bucky was absolutely horrible to sam. he was mean, catty, and honestly downright hateful sometimes. sam was endlessly supportive and patient with a man who caught an attitude with him when he tried to talk about his dead aunt. lmfao if sam had done that to bucky we would never hear the end of it!!!! but since it was the other way around literally no one ever mentions how unnecessarily nasty that was. that's why bucky's apology (which was NOT enough tbh) was important. because we watched this man treat someone who genuinely cared about his wellbeing (reaching out even though he'd been ghosted) like an emotional punching bag and THAT WAS NOT FAIR.
sam has his own problems he was dealing with--familial, financial, emotional--and none of those are ever discussed beyond brief moments (yes I know this is due to terrible writing) but it would be nice if some of you could take a a day off from making bucky a perpetual victim and like, acknowledge that, maybe????

and you know what fandom did the same thing with bucky and tony that they're doing with john--every bad decision and shitty behavior boils down to "because ptsd" and like. okay. white men can be as violent as they please and everyone will say "ptsd" but sam doesn't move his seat up and cracks jokes on bucky and it's never "well this man tried to kill sam multiple times, maybe it's how he copes" it's "he's a cruel, terrible human being." because black characters just like black people are not human to many of you and if we're not wholly good then we're wholly evil and we see this in the way black characters can't even sneeze wrong without mobs writing posts on how they're terrible and cruel lmfao. I would say touch grass but mother earth deserves better tbh.

there is a particularly gross account on here that claims anyone pushing against caretaker sam is ableist which I find interesting because quite a few of us on here who have been complaining about it are black, disabled and/or nuerodivergent fans (hello there 👋🏾). it's almost like they forget we exist the same way they do whenever the topic of race intersecting with disability/nuerodivergence comes up. shocking, I know.
literally no one is saying to stop writing sam as caring, compassionate and empathetic, we have been asking you mealy mouthed liars to write him as a character with agency, a character with his own problems, his own desires and his own motivations and not just a magical negro catering to the needs of some "uwu sad white boy" who happily plays second fiddle to steve's ghosts. we are asking you to show that love is a two way street (it always has been but that seems to confuse yall when one half of the ship is a black character). at this point you people KNOW what you are doing and have no intentions or stopping and will instead continue engaging in bad faith arguments instead of just admitting maybe you should reconsider why you always characterize the ship in such a toxic, unhealthy, one sided way and why you can't imagine black characters existing outside of their servitude to whiteness but yall not ready for that conversation lmao.

r/Edelgard seems to have completely turned against Claude now. But the weirdest part is that they keep calling him an imperialist, while at the same time denying Edelgard is one.
It was only a matter of time before they did honestly. While Dimitri and Edelgard more directly oppose each other ideologically, even if it’s merely stated as so by the game Claude and Edelgard are presented as being “closer aligned” in terms of ideals, and any character shown to be a potential ally to Edelgard is seen in a good light in their eyes and any character that is shown to be unable to be an ally is a villain/bad person, so he was given some leeway until recently.
Look at how they bend themselves trying to make AM the villain route, how they sometimes completely discard Rhea’s words in favor of Edelgard’s despite the former literally being present when history was happening and the latter having Imperial Telephone tell her the totes fer reel correct version that happens to paint humanity as pure good, at how Edelgard’s treatment of Seteth and Flayn is excused and sometimes justified, at how Dimitri defending his land against an invading force that has the explicit goal of conquering them is painted in the worst possible light. It’s a consistent tendency to put down every character that could even potentially make Edelgard look bad... so Claude was never going to escape this treatment forever, since he arguably makes Edelgard look the worst. Not because of what she did to him - that trophy is being valiantly fought by Dimitri and Rhea - but because of his actions and goals and accomplishments compared to hers.
Remember Edelgard’s supposed goals, according to her stans? Claude does them, with far more peaceful results.
“Reform the Church” - Edelgard gets rid of it entirely in the majority of her endings and has it state-sanctioned if she does allow it to stay all the while actively persecuting the faithful in the Empire during the war, Claude always has the Church around and it is stated to be going through more natural reforms under Byleth and Seteth’s guidance and like the rest of the non-CF routes gives refuge to the said persecuted faithful.
“Unify Fodlan” - Edelgard forcefully unites Leicester and Faerghus back under Adrestia’s banner and erases their cultures while doing so, Claude unites Leicester, Faerghus, and Adrestia under a new banner (the United Kingdom of Fodlan) with no explicit mention of the erasure of the former nations (unlike “the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Church of Seiros both vanished from the people’s memories” like in CF’s ending narration).
“Reveal the truth of Fodlan’s history” - Edelgard only tells a “truth” that goes directly against everything established by the game’s foreshadowing and never looks farther into what she assumes to be true, Claude finds the actual truth and does so by asking Rhea, someone who would for sure know the truth of what happened (all while risking the chance of her blowing away his previous assumptions of what’s been happening)
“Reveal the truth of Fodlan part 2″ - Edelgard/CF has multiple instances that reveal that portions of history are being deliberately covered up (Dorothea/Edelgard endings revealing censorship, Ferdinand/Byleth endings revealing certain battles not being recorded “ History books extol Ferdinand's success as a lord of his territories, but they do not make mention of the hard-fought battles he endured alongside his wife. Thus, half of his life's work is lost to time”), no mention of such things happening in Claude/VW’s endings
“Better relations with Almyra” - this is a throwaway line in Edelgard’s story that is completely optional and easy to miss as well as never appearing in any of her endings whatsoever (as well as any mention of bettering foreign relations), this is Claude’s entire goal which he is stated and even somewhat shown to have accomplished in the course of his story
“Looking out for the weak” - Edelgard intentionally strips the weak of support by taking away most any semblance of a church and explicitly states that the weak will inevitably learn how to grow strong by themselves, Claude acknowledges the Church’s importance to the people even if he personally doesn’t like religion and explicitly believes that strength is found by relying on, opening up to, and believing in friends and close ones
“Looking out for the weak, part 2″ - Edelgard explicitly states that she is completely willing to sacrifice her men as well as the people of Fodlan as a whole in order to achieve a greater good and then goes on to endanger her people, Claude explicitly states that such methods are too bloody and goes on to go out of his way to protect the people through evacuation or by placing himself in front of them or keeping them out of the fighting entirely
“Achieving a peaceful Fodlan” - The majority of Hubert’s endings reveal the need to constantly spy on the populace and/or put down rebellions/assassination attempts, the only mention of something similar occurring in VW is putting down Imperial loyalists + TWS’ attempts to disrupt the peace
“Wanting help from others” - Edelgard never attempts to reach out a hand in friendship to anyone at any point of the game, Claude tries multiple times to do so with Dimitri and actually succeeds in doing so in AM (not to mention him giving his help to and asking for help from the Church in non-CF routes)
This is just what I can readily think of off the top of my head, but we see that Claude manages to accomplish much of what Edelstans say Edelgard wants to do with better results, and that’s not even getting into how Claude needs no “softening” from Byleth in order to be a more approachable person, how he never initiates fighting towards Faerghus (as in, not the Kingdom army but the nation itself, unlike Edelgard) and never tries to conquer it whatsoever (again, unlike Edelgard), how he keeps his word and assists in helping Rhea despite not liking or trusting her unlike how Edelgard claims to want to make peace with Rhea despite thinking that her and her kind need destruction, how Claude mourns the deaths of his friends and allies while Edelgard says nothing if any of her friends and allies die (even Hubert, someone she’s known for close to 20 years, one of the longest relationships of the academy students’ circle. she says nothing of his passing) save for Bernadetta whom she can set on fire, and, again, other things that aren’t coming to my right off the cuff. He makes her look horrible
And, well, ya know what that means. Claude’s actions can’t be actually good, because they make Edelgard, the hero of 3H, look bad, so there has to be some kind of catch everywhere.
Claude bringing in Almyran reinforcements, with the approval of the Alliance’s most renown general, to help secure Fort Merceus in a more secure way (and is actually shown to have possibly actually helped in pulling off the ruse, seeing how SS tried the same thing without them and failed)? Him doing the same in some of his endings, where he sends Almyran forces to help settle the Imperial revolts that are happening? This is actually him trying to invade Fodlan, sending Almyran forces as a show of force and establish Almyra’s superiority over Fodlan, not him showing that Almyra wishes to help Fodlan reform so that their centuries long feud can finally begin to be properly set aside and allow for positive change to occur between the two countries.
Claude keeping the Alliance out of the war? This is actually him biding his time to strike back against both countries so that he can win the war and he only succeeds if he manages to trick Byleth and the Church (and Dimitri, in AM) into helping him, not him recognizing that the Alliance is weak even if fully united (let alone in the divided state they’re in) and wanting to keep his people as far away from the war as possible.
Claude giving the leadership of Fodlan to Byleth? This is actually him giving an ambitionless puppet rulership so that he can control Fodlan through them (even though even pre ts he doesn’t believe Byleth has no ambitions and will full on deny the belief that they don’t) and not him putting his faith in Byleth that they will be able to rule Fodlan justly
Claude showing concern over his friends’ wellbeing? This is actually him only trying to make sure his “tools” are kept up nicely, not him genuinely caring about those around him.
Claude coming across as insensitive in his Jeralt’s diary scene? This is actually proof/a hint of Claude’s true persona as a manipulative sociopath, not a genuine fuck up on his end (or, if you want to be nicer, a look into how he himself deals with traumatic events, though that’s up for interpretation so not the main point)
Claude saying that he wants to be supreme ruler of the world to Edelgard? This is actually him outright revealing his plans and showing regret that Edelgard managed to thwart him.
Oh, and we can’t forget how Claude actually wanted to wage war himself and was only stopped by Edelgard, and how he stole all of the progress Edelgard was making in changing Fodlan’s society, and how he never would have been able to do anything without Edelgard, and how him not siding with Edelgard is proof that he never wanted the best for Fodlan, and how the warmongering Almyrans would never want to make peace with Fodlan with that being more proof of Claude’s “true” ill intentions since he’d totally know that’d be the case
The second to last point being, of course, the only time you should take Claude at face value. And again, these are just the points that readily come to my mind as of right now.
Like I said, there was no chance in hell Claude was going to stay in r/Edelgard’s good graces, given how so much of his character directly shits on Edelgard’s. Friendship ended with r/Edelgard, now Dimitri and Rhea are Claude’s best friends.

Once again the fandom coming together to daydream about Mickey helping Ian out and seeing him back on track to become an emt again but why is that on Mickey? Why does he always have to do things to make Ian happy when Ian's usually nothing but annoyed by Mickey and does nothing to make Mickey happy? Truly shows which character y'all care about more.
This got absurdly long, because I am who I am and did take the opportunity to go off on a tangent about valid conclusions and what not, so I put it under a cut. Read at your own risk! Oh, and I also do address the actual question about whether or not Ian's career is on Mickey, and whether or not Ian never does anything to make Mickey happy. ;)
For the sake of clarity, I got this ask in response to this post.
And I gotta say, nonnie, getting this ask perplexed me to the point of running off to Trusted Fandom Friends, demanding to know how my undying love and loyalty for Mickey could ever be doubted. Had to laugh at myself a little, actually, and the strenght of my befuddlement. It reminded me of the time I went on a trip with people from the 501st (cosplayers dedicated to the bad guys in Star Wars) and Rebel Legion (cosplayers dedicated to the good guys in Star Wars) and a lot of people assumed I was a Rebel sympathizer simply because I had friends in that group and those were the people who had invited me. Excuse me, I didn't yell, I have like 30 Darth Vaders in my damned home, how dare you question my allegiance? I was so used to always being known as a diehard Vaderkin fangirl that the mer fact of strangers failing to recognize me as such genuinely fucked a little with my sense of identity. My love of Mickey isn't anywhere near as deeply ingrained into my sense of self, since he's only been an occasional presence in my life since 2016 while Darth Vader's been my main man since 1994, but it was still a little jarring to suddenly find myself (mis)identified as an Ian stan.
Being a fangirl is strange.
And I want to make it clear that I do love Ian. He's a fascinating character and, to me, he's a character that's often much harder to understand than Mickey. He rewards careful analysis and discussion, though, so I guess I tend to talk a lot about him? I don't need to spend as much time considering Mickey's feelings and motivations because they are (almost) always pretty obvious; I don't need to tease them out. But at the end of the day, Mickey is my favourite. (Though I'll always love Ian and Mickey together more than I love either of them on their own. It's like fresh cilantro and mint – each perfectly lovely in their own right, but the combination of them creates a flavour that's just out of this world.)
Now, you might argue that you don't follow me and so have no idea who I am and what I like to post about, and that going only by that single post (which, in fairness, was tagged with 'i just want ian to be happy okay?') I give off the general impression of an Ian stan. And that's fair enough; I'm an obscure blog in a decently big fandom and you're not required to keep track of anyone. However, if you want to throw around passive aggressive accusations of caring more about one character than the other, I will ask you to do your research first. Reacting to one single piece of data without considering the context is a common but highly unfortunate practice that needlessly complicates meaningful conversations, and we'd all do well to abstain from it.
Oh, you don't want to spend a lot of time and energy on consdering every single thing a specific Tumblr blog has ever said on a specific topic just so you can draw a valid conclusion about their stance? That's perfectly understandable, nonnie, and easily sorted: refrain from making unsubstantiated claims about what other people think or don't think and you won't have to. Ask them, if you wonder. If you see a tendency in fandom to put the responsibility for Ian's wellbeing and career or Mickey's shoulders and want to discuss that, that's totally cool! I am game (and will address that question below)! But it's very possible to do that without somewhat rudely ascribing perferences and opinions to other people, and you'll get better answers for it (for instance, you won't have to wade through me rambling on about valid conclusions and my memories from other fandoms... ).
It seems to me, though, that this touches upon a long-held frustration of yours. If I interpret your ask correctly, you think the show gives us an Ian who is mostly annoyed with Mickey and doesn't do anything to make him happy, and you think that the fandom responds to this by relegating Mickey to the role of Ian's caretaker, whose sole purpose is to serve Ian's needs without any regard for what might Mickey himself happy. Have I got that right?
If so, it should be noted that I don't agree with either of these takes: I don't think that's the Ian the show gives us (a point I will return to below), and I don't think that fandom at large only cares about Ian's happiness, and I particularly don't think that my post can be used a evidence of the latter.
For instance, when you sent me this ask the post in question had all of 40 notes. As I write this, it has just over 70. ”The fandom coming together” seems to be slightly overstating the case, don't you think? There are certainly fans who care more about Ian and only see Mickey as valuable as long as he contributes to Ian's happiness, just as there are fans who care more about Mickey and only see Ian as valuable as long as he contributes to Mickey's happiness - but this single post with less than a hundred notes does not support that either of these stances would be predominant within the fandom. (And, while on the topic, I'd like to state that I don't actually see a problem with either of those stances; these are fictional characters that exists for our entertainment and we don't have any moral obligations to treat them equally and fairly. Don't ruin other fans' fun by dumping on either of them in the character or shipping tags or on character and shipping posts and this is not a problem. It might be a somewhat unpopular opinion, but I don't think you have to love or even like all characters in a ship to ship it: I refuse to drink plain tea because it's nasty but put a splash of milk in it and its my favourite thing ever. You can love a combination without loving all the seperate pieces on their own. And yeah, I do revert to food metaphors a lot. I like food.)
Secondly, whether or not the post can be said to represent the feeling of the fandom at large (it cannot), I think that reading a post specifically about ”Mickey helping Ian out and seeing him back on track to become an emt again” and then extrapolating from that that Mickey ”always have to do things to make Ian happy” is a little wild. The very first thing I wrote for this fandom was a vision of Ian offering Mickey comfort, goddammit. (Ian giving Mickey a hug is so high on my list of desires, you can't even imagine)
As for your actual question (and, ah, imagine how much shorter this post would be if you had just left it at that) – of course that's not on Mickey. That much, incidentally, I've actually explicitly stated in another post. Ian might have his issues but he's still an adult and responsible for himself. That being said, I don't see it as particularly strange that someone would go out of their way to help their partner when they see them struggling? If I realize that someone I care about is unhappy and there's a way for me to help, I would want to help because I love them and want them to be happy, even if it's – ethically speaking – not my responsibility to do so. Pretty sure Mickey, who is action-oriented and so very protective of the people he loves, feels the same way.
Of course, if it's a one-sided thing – if one partner is always the one to do stuff for the other and never receives any support in return – that's not a healthy relationship, and I assume that this is what you're seeing in the show and taking exception to?
Only... I can't help but wonder who this Ian is, this uncaring, selfish version you see – because I don't quite get how it can be the Ian who emptied his bank account for Mickey, or the Ian who was ready to throw his parole and stay in prison for Mickey even when they were in the middle of a fight specifically because Mickey said it would make him happy, or the one who kept trying to talk to Mickey and win him back after Mickey punched him in the face, accidentally broke his leg, and took off with a new lover (I'm not taking sides in this one, btw – I have a lot of sympathy and understanding for both of them and their actions throughout this whole sorry affair), or the Ian who immediately wanted to marry Mickey protect him from the consequences of a murder Ian thought he had actually comitted, or the Ian who went along with arranging a real wedding even though he initially didn't at all understand why this was important to Mickey and who had someone come serenade him once he did, or the Ian who chose At last for Mickey to walk up to the aisle to, or the Ian who keeps trying to reach out to Mickey and to touch him and discuss their issues in a mature way even when he's (justifiably) upset about Mickey using all their wedding money without telling Ian. (Though Ian deciding for both of them that they're saving the money isn't great either.)
I mean, Ian's absolutely done shitty things, as has Mickey. They're human, and they're the products of a chaotic and often hostile enviroment. They do mess up a lot; they've hurt each other rather badly over the years. Depending on your perspective and preferences, you may think one or the other have behaved worse, but as far as I can see, the claim that Ian never does anything to make Mickey happy is simply not supported.
Ian has seemed unusually annoyed with Mickey this season, I'll give you that, but while that's not always the most fun thing to watch and I strongly sympathize with the wish to just see Ian look at Mickey with that fond look again, I don't find him being frustrated right now all that weird, given the circumstances. I'd argue it has less to do with Mickey and more to do with a general frustration over thwarted ambitions and not being able to hold on even to a really shitty job, though Mickey's attitude doesn’t exactly help (which is not to say that I think that Ian's the one in the right here, becasue Ian's way of handling things hasn't always been been stellar either). However, I do have faith in them sorting this out – because even though they fight and bicker and get annoyed with each other, there's never any indication that they're not both committed to making this marriage thing work. They certainly stumble, they misunderstand each other and lash out, but they calm down and go to sleep in the same bed and compromise and keep trying. Every day, they – both of them – choose each other.
I'd like to finish this off by noting, even though it's not entirely relevant to my argument, that that the number one thing that does make Mickey happy is being together with Ian, and even when Ian is pissed at Mickey and withholding sex (which was very ill-advised but says a lot of interesting things about his character, I think!) no one's sleeping on the couch, there are no nights away from the house and each other, and even in the middle of an argument they sit and stand next to each other. I think that's pretty telling of Ian's dedication, especially given his propensity for running away from his problems.
Phew. Okay, nonnie – though we don't agree and I doubt you'll find this answer satisfactory, I hope you see that I have done my best to understand your point of view and treat your arguments fairly and give you a thoughtful response. If you'd like to get back to me and elaborate on your stance, I'd ask that you show me the same courtesy. :)

Stop babying a grown man!!!!
I was wondering when this would happen 😂 I assume you don’t follow this blog, or if you do that you haven’t for very long? Because otherwise you’d probably know that I’m actually a passionate advocate for not babying Sebastian and have made several posts about it in the past. Listen, I can see why you might be confused if you’ve only seen a few recent posts in the tags, but can assure you I am not babying him in the way you think I am.
I am very aware that Sebastian Stan is a grown, 38 year old man (not actually a boy or a baby) who’s very capable of making his own decisions, successes and mistakes, and that he is also a strong, intelligent and kind man with an excellent network of friends and family. Sure, he loves his fans and his fans love him (well, most of them) but he does not need strangers on the internet to keep tabs on him, stick their nose in his private business, and worry about his wellbeing all the time - and he definitely doesn’t need strangers to rescue him or for people to think they would make better decisions about his life for him than he does himself. Sebastian can handle himself (and if he ever can’t then he has plenty of real life support) and I believe we as fans should do him the courtesy of treating him as such. I’m assuming so far we’re on the same page here.
When I call Sebastian ‘baby’ or ‘pretty’ or I go all 🥺🥺🥺 about him, that is merely my way of expressing affection. I love Sebastian very much, and my way of showing that, usually, is by calling him our sweet little pretty baby angel. I do the same with all my lovely mutuals, and even with Chris Evans on occasion, who we all know is also a big guy :p I appreciate that you care about Sebastian and want to stand up for him, but I assure you that it’s not necessary in this case. Also, please stop sending strangers on the internet unpleasant, anonymous messages.

I saw [JUDE AVERY] at a coffee shop in [BROOKLYN] today. I forgot how much [HE] looks like [SEBASTIAN STAN]. They are a [THIRTY-SEVEN] year old [ATTENDING SURGEON] who’s been in NYC for [HIS WHOLE LIFE] now. Every time we run into each other, they are always [KIND AND HUMBLE] but I’ve heard people say they can also be [SENSITIVE AND NEUROTIC]. [FATHER AND SON BY CAT STEVENS] reminds me of them every time it comes on the radio.
hi! elle here again with another muse. he’s an older one that has taken on many forms and i’m excited to be bringing him back around here :~) below you’ll find a very quick summary of him (which i wanted to get up for the purposes of plotting) so! happy reading. come let me know if you want to interact with him. @villagestart
𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 FULL NAME: Jude Alexander Avery  NICKNAME(S): N/A BIRTHDAY: 8 July, 1984 PLACE OF BIRTH: Manhattan, New York  HEIGHT: 6′0″ WEIGHT: 78 kg ZODIAC SIGN: Cancer  MBTI: ENFJ (The Protagonist)
𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃
- Jude is the first and only son of Joseph and Ruth Avery, a fact that holds significance considering his family’s lineage.  - He was born into a dynasty of sorts, his parents married to join together two families that were prominent in the world of business, law and politics. As such, there were countless expectations put onto him. Even as a young boy, he was often reminded of the mantle he would one day take. His parents did more to train him than they did to raise him. Suffice to say, Jude never had a good relationship with them.
- He carried those expectations with him all throughout his adolescence, and it took a toll on him. Luckily, he had a sense of who to surround himself with; good influences that grounded him and kept him on the straight and narrow. Jude counts himself lucky, that the wealth of his family never got to his head. His life could have gone any which way, had he turned out to be like most of the children of his parent’s friends and colleagues.
- Jude had every intention of following through with what was expected of him, seeing no other option. With hopes of getting his parent’s approval, he began his academic pursuits in law. Though, he had quickly become discontent with his choice. He craved to care for people; to be a person of service. And selfishly, he had wanted to stray away from the values of his family; their hunger for power and money. Those factors motivated him to explore other options.
- He eventually came to the conclusion that the field of medicine was his calling, much to the dismay of his parents. Falling out of the so-called obligations he had to his family rendered him the black sheep.
- To further this newfound title of his, Jude had a child out of wedlock. The relationship that conceived his daughter is not one he likes to talk about, considering the fact that it ended with him as a single father. Still, he has no regrets when it comes down to it.
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓
- Jude still has the family name looming over him, sometimes garnering unwanted attention and manifesting pre-conceived ideas, but he takes it all in stride; more content now than ever before.
- He has managed to distance himself from his relatives, keeping mostly to himself for the benefit of his and his daughter’s wellbeing. There is contact between Jude and his parents, but it is rare and most often hostile in manner.
- Ultimately, he found success in his chosen field. He struggles to find balance between his work and social life, but...he’ll get there.
- Despite his love for his work, his daughter is his number one priority always. Oftentimes, if you want to see Jude, you’ll have to see her too. Though, he is wildly protective of her and only lets the people he trusts to really form any bond with her. He takes no risks when it comes to his daughter.
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘
- Possessing a subtle sort of charisma, Jude is passionate and headstrong. Admittedly, there are times which these can translate into stubbornness. - Jude has strong, paternal instincts. Whether toward his friends or stray animals, he is very inclined to act upon them.
- He is a workaholic, though this isn’t necessarily something that he is able to identify himself.
- Jude has a clear vision of what he wants to put out into the world, and with that a very strong system of values. He is altruistic, and is very much a helper and a leader.
-  In saying that, Jude tends to be overly idealistic. Because of this, he can get himself into situations where he is unable to make decisions; fearing making the wrong one.
- He also has a tendency to be overly-critical (mostly toward himself). But when it comes to others, he is patient and supportive like no other.
- Jude is a hopeless romantic. He is convinced that that part of him died and left along with his ex, but it’s still very much there. It’ll resurface when the right person comes along.
𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒
- He has a cat !! A three-legged stray that he found and had no intention of keeping (considering his work schedule), but came to fall in love with. That, and his daughter begged him. He can never say no to her.
- He’s a smoker, but he swears up and down that he’s quitting…he’s trying, at the very least.
- Forever stuck listening to 80′s music. Very big Taylor Swift enthusiast, though.
- He’s a huge stresshead. Luckily, he has healthy outlets for those emotions — running (which he does every morning) and boxing.
- Probably knits. He’s steady with his hands.
- Loves rom-coms. The more predictable, the better.
