Reasons to vote for each of them below:

Buttercup may have seemed annoyed with her 'farmboy' at first, but she very quickly took a shining to him. Their love was true love, as was emphasized throughout the story. Westley went off to find his fortune before he would marry Buttercup, but he got kidnapped by the Dread Pirate Roberts, who is reported to never take survivors. Buttercup fell into despair and claimed she would never love again. Fast forward five years, and Buttercup finds herself embroiled in a plot to start a war, stemming from her own assassination. That's when we find out Westley hasn't died at all, but has become the new Dread Pirate Roberts. Westley rescues Buttercup twice, even trumping death itself because he had a good reason to come back -- True Love.

In the disney version they meet in the beginning and get together in the end, in other versions they meet only at the end when the prince hears of the beautiful woman in the casket. His love for her at first sight is ultimately what saves the princess' life, be it true loves kiss or a stumble acting as a the Heimlich maneuver. Plus in the og version their wedding is where they get revenge on the queen and it is AMAZING

I was rereading the 25th anniversary addition of The Princess Bride (novel), and I completely forgot about the unfinished sequel, Buttercup’s Baby, which went a little something like this:

The book opens with Fezzik the giant falling to his death to save Waverly, the toddler aged daughter of Buttercup and Westley from a “skinless-faced madman”.

And there are flashbacks to, well, the baby being made. Buttercup is horny af and hints to Westley that the two of them “only kissed” during their time together. Westley is like “Ok”, and then then fuck right then and there. (Horny mfs). And they must have high fertility rates or something because Buttercup immediately becomes pregnant (and this was the first time she and Westley ever had sex btw). After a long labor (with Inigo and Fezzik as the midwives because why not) that ends with a somewhat c-section, Buttercup gives birth to said baby girl Waverly. There are also flashbacks to Inigo Montoya’s past when he first started training as a swordsman, during this time he had a one time romantic relationship with a woman named Giulietta.

So why didn’t the sequel happen? In an interview with 2013, William Goldman admitted in an interview that he was having a hard time coming up with a story line. Sadly he died in 2018 without ever making a sequel.

I, for one, would have loved to read it. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the sequel?

Winner of the Hellcheer couples costume poll: Chrissy and Eddie as Buttercup and Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts. I decided to go for a Disney inspired look for this one. Poses based on the scene where he’s unmasked and they hold each other after tumbling down the hill together. I was going to go for an 80s look, but chose a 90s look instead.

Thursdays were movie night. The sun had already started to set and the chaos of the day started to calm as people began to turn in for the night.

Hobie was lying with his head on Ansiniya's thighs as they sat on the couch. They had been watching "The Princess Bride" for the millionth time in a row.

Usually Hobie was earnestly watching alongside Ansi but this time he had dozed off just as the movie started.

Ansi'd forgive him this time since he'd been incredibly busy lately.

As the story unfolded on Ansi's CRT screen she mouthed the words alongside the characters.

"Do I love you?

My God,

if your love were a grain of sand,

mine would be a universe of beaches."

This was one of her favorite scenes. Westley was finally professing his love for Buttercup. Back when Ansi first watched the scene she couldn't understand it.

How could anyone hold that much love for someone?

He looked down at Hobie's sleeping face. She understood it now.

Hobie always looked peaceful as he slept. He claimed that he always got better sleep whenever Ansi was around.

Ansi always rolled his eyes at Hobie's claim yet, he felt the same. The days when nightmares plagued him every night was now a thing of the past.

She looked back at the screen and watched as Westley was saying goodbye to his beloved, promising that soon they'll be reunited.

In a way, Ansi and Hobie's story was similar to the one on screen. Two people separated by extenuating circumstances only to be reunited later in a way neither party had expected.

Ansi sighed. "I hope our story ends with a happily ever after just like theirs."

Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

Only time will tell.

So I was just watching The Princess Bride and I couldn't help but think that the boy in the movie reminded me of the kid version of Jess! Has anyone ever thought that? He would have been the perfect character to play little kid Jess if Gilmore Girls did flashback scenes! I mean does anyone else see it!! He really looks like how I would have imagined Jess would have looked as a little kid! This movie also put me in a literati au that took place in that time and Rory was going to marry Logan because she thought Jess had died but then Jess comes back for her and they live happily ever after! I have a problem I can't watch anything without going into literati au head cannon mode! 😂🤣
