Me: At the end of the day Izzy's death doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is that the cast and crew had fun while making the show.

Con: it was a very lonely experience, when we were filming, even off set I was always working on something else. I isolated myself from the cast because I felt a weight on my shoulders. When I learned Izzy was going to die I felt a bit relieved because then I could be able to get some sleep.

#izzy hands #Con's part is an amalgamation of things that he's said in interviews #and not word for word quotes #actually number 1 reason for me why I don't want izzy to magically come back #and the idea of izzy coming back magically or as a ghost or flashbacks just feels like damgae control and patronizing #that alongside with the damage is already done. and if you retcon the shack and you retcon izzy then #what's the point of episode 8

one of my favorite things about zedaph is that on a server full of people that find strange and oft-overlooked minecraft mechanics or rare events and then see just how far they can push them in the name of spectacle or efficiency or world-breaking, zed is over here finding these mechanics in order to do the weirdest things he can think of in as entertaining a manner as possible

like i 100% have faith in zedaph's theoretical ability to be just as efficient or spectacular or world-breaking. if he wanted to do that stuff, i trust that he absolutely could. but thats so far from being his priority. instead, hes going to spend around a week of irl time focused entirely on eventually having the good luck to spawn in something insanely rare so that he can convert it into something even rarer, the result of which being something that 99% of the server reacts with complete and utter shock that it even exists in the first place, just because its zany and funny and he wanted to. and i love that

I only watched the first episode but so far it just feels so rushed and because they decided for it to be "serious" with very little humor that made the show feel like it has no heart and you don't even get to like the characters because you don't get to know them. It makes me very sad cause that's what everyone loves about avatar is that the characters all have good characteristics and are funny and you can understand why katara and sokka feel like they need to help aang and you're supposed to get that all from the first episode.

okay i just marathoned the entirety of ATLA live action & i might do an actual review of it explaining my thoughts more in depth, but the TLDR version basically boils down to this:

if you want to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, just go watch the 2005 cartoon

#i was trying to keep an open mind & all that cuz of OPLA (my beloved) but. holy shit it was actually worse than i expected :/#like what were they thinking. did they use AI to write this or are the writers just like. really shitty #notes: they linger too much on random bullshit & refuse to move character development along #they tell when they should be showing & when they DO show it's for stuff that benefited from brief environmental storytelling in the OG #the plot drags so hard it was basically stagnant #there were some fun things but like. those things could've been funner if they'd been given the time other useless stuff was taking up #they changed so many minor details that really don't matter in order to make them more important #but this failed spectacularly because now there's just. stupid bullshit clogging up the plot??#instead of having 10 minute monologues 3 times an episode about plot irrelevant things #they should have taken a page out of the original's book & kept minor details to a minimum & focused on ACTUAL PLOT #SO MUCH CGI. LIKE I KNOW THEY NEED IT BUT COME ON. EVEN THE CHARACTERS?????? WHO ARE JUST STANDING THERE????????#they were given 8 hours & almost all of it was Aang angsting (lol) over being the avatar & not practicing actual bending #& then they ended the plot too early so they had to fill in the last like 20 minutes with something else #so they made up random lore that literally makes no sense. & overexplained all of it to the point i was blanking out from boredom #i think this is why i didn't enjoy Korra. they over explain the spirit world stuff & avatar powers & bending #that plus i just don't vibe with the aesthetic #being a writer is a curse because when i dislike something it's because i know exactly what went wrong & why #it's always with the analyzing & the judging & the internal note taking #even when i really try i can't just enjoy shit for fun

what a satisfying freakin episode. i keep thinking about how everyone vividly discussing the potential of blake as a leader this volume was dead on like!! this is what she’s been training for her whole life romantic bookworm that she is underneath it all. she is so ready. and ruby even turns to her for advice!! im really impressed with the was blake is being approached and treated by the narrative

#izzy hands #ofmd #My source: lots of people are predicting he will die. and so far the fandom has been wrong about like everything this season lmao #but I've got a 5 page essay in my mind about Izzy as a character and why his death would be a detriment to the story #and especially towards both his and eds character development #Something about Izzy being reluctant to accept community & kindness in S1 #only to accept it in S2 after a suicide attempt and then die because of it is fucking stupid #if anything it drives home his point in S1 and also goes against the message of 'kindness' that the cast and crew have mentioned the show i #I'm just saying with the way this season has been paced due to both budget constraints and only being 8 episodes #they're going to have to do some serious heavy lifting to make izzy dying feel justifiable after this season #This might be a Makora moment but I literally don't care if it happens I don't see it #the crew and especially Izzy is what carries this show for me. I honestly don't know if I'd care to watch the show without Izzy in it lmao

I miss having shows I was passionate about. Characters that I understood and cared about. I'm watching reruns of shows - most some gone before they had their whole story told.

What kills me is the ones that did go past a single/aborted series just became trash, especially recent ones. Yellowstone. Good Doctor. Voltron. Literally anything in the Marvel universe. Lucifer (and loved that show, and I couldn't even finish the series because of season 5).

I mean, even 9-1-1 was canceled, and it was Fox's most popular series (and yes, I know it was immediately picked up, but it's an exception not a rule). If that doesn't have a chance at staying on air, why the fuck should I get involved in anything else? Unless it's some hack crime procedural where everyone is as emotive and likeable as a post, no show ever gets renewed or given the chance it deserves - in fact, being good seems to be the Kiss of Death.

#i finished rewatching Deception and I am now twice as mad #I loved that show #no bad episodes no bad characters #but they stuck in on at 10 o'clock on a fucking Sunday when it was actually pretty kid friendly #if they stuck it on at 8 or 9? Absolutely would've kicked ass #prodigal son had the same creators and writers and it got screwed too #and the show they canceled it for had one of the lowest premieres out of their new line ups and almost immediately got canceled too #what's the point in watching and being invested if they're not going to love it half as much as we do
