I think after some of the more recent episodes of TSAMS I am in need of updating some of the things in the Reaper King AU 💀. As I now have a few more ideas of what happens next. I guess this is the Part 8 of the AU then :)

I also now have a few VERY interesting ideas about some of the other characters in this AU and what is going on with them. Specifically Sun, Ruin and Eclipse.

Oh boy do I have some fun things here... But also some dark things.

TW: Same as before. Actually quite a bit of gore in this one... And some seriously disturbing imagery.

-Slight change to the lore of this AU, Ruin DID create Reaper Killcode... HOWEVER... this is not Ruin faking being cured, this is Ruin being cured and making a MASSIVELY BAD DECISION...

-He created Reaper KC to play the villain... So HE could defeat him and play the hero... He created Reaper with a weak spot. Essentially a hole in his chest that would have been how Ruin planned to defeat this new enemy.

-...his actions were driven by loneliness and his desire to to really become a part of the Celestial Family.

-Unfortunately the second Reaper Killcode took Stitchwraiths core and added it into the hole in his chest, it actually upgraded his body and made him into the insane threat he's become... As the core upgrades came as KC was literally it's 'Perfect Host'

-Moon discovered Ruins part in KCs revival and ran him out of the Pizzaplex in a fury.

-In spite of him having brought KC back, he was not responsible for Eclipse's revival... Or at least he's not aware of it if he is. He did kinda blackout on some alcohol and he apparently does weird things when he's drunk, soooo that's kinda up in the air at the moment.

...now to the present...

-Sun and Moon opt to go see what is up with a huge mountain range suddenly just appearing outside of the city. They stop by the ranger station and meet Harper... Who is surprised as hell at the sight of two more sentient robots. Still, she treats them politely. Tells them about the park... And the legends of how the forest is a hotbed for Cryptids. With the most feared being the 'Reaper King.'

-She also says yes, she is aware that something is weird and she's realizing she might not be in the same universe she was a few days ago...

-Honestly... Not the weirdest thing she's experienced with this job. And she wants them to be careful as this forest is notorious for its disappearances.

-She's dating and having 'Smoochy Time' with the alpha cryptid in this area. She's pretty familiar with weird... But Moon and Sun don't know that...

-Sun and Moon kinda brush the cryptid thing off and just opt to explore this place a little together. Neither are taking this very seriously as they walk deeper in.

-Things seem semi-normal... At least until they pass through one particular clearing and something catches Moons eye and he ventures off the trail to get a better look at this thing. It looks like a ghastly old tree... Only carved into it are frightening images, particularly of what looks like some strange demonic faces... Hanging from the trees are bones and the truck is slathered in blood.

-He and Sun are VERY unnerved...

-Even moreso when a herd of deer suddenly rush through the clearing... But one deer is being pursued closely by what looks like two wolves and there's something already on its back holding onto its neck... One of the creatures trips it up and the deer goes down. The animal making agonized screams as the creatures tear into it... Until finally it goes silent.

-The thing on the deers back stands it's about the height of a young boy, showing grey skin and semi-glowing eyes. And blood staining its mouth and dribbling down it's chin, while one of the pursuers stands... Showing it to look like a child version of the Wolfman, also just as bloody from the ordeal.

-They grin at each other then pet the actual wolf that was with them before looking back into the forest from where the deer heard had initially run from.

Vamp: Brothers! How was that?

Lycan: We brought it down! It's a good size! With seven points on its antlers!

-Moon and Sun are crouching down near the tree watching this scene in horror. As everything proceeds to get MUCH worse when from just beyond the treeline another figure approaches the boys and the wolf... A figure that both of the animatronics had hoped they would never see again...

...Bloodmoon...

-He approaches the group, a strange blue ball of fire floating near him as he walked, and the wolf immediately rushed up to him... Showing that it's head bore a sickening deformity, like it nearly had two heads but it never got far enough and was just a conjoined skull. But to the shock of the secret onlookers, Bloodmoon greets the animal with pets as it licks the maniacs face... That shock easily quadrupled as the Blood Twins looked to the dead deer and then brought both of his hands up and rubbed both of the boys heads.

Bloodmoon: Not a bad kill... You got this one without my help. Next time you will have to take it down without HunterKiller helping.

Vamp: Did we did ok?

Bloodmoon: You did great! It is dead after all! Very dead! (Bloodmoon puts an arm around each of the boys as they look down at the deer... And his disgusting tongue comes out and licks across his sharp teeth) And now my little brothers... We FEAST!

-Bloodmoon, the boys and the wolf immediately begin to tear into the deers carcass... The sounds... The wet sounds of the ripping and tearing of the deers flesh. The loud crunching as Bloodmoon bit into bones in order to get at the marrow... And then the boys eagerly requesting him to bite other bones, as they were unable to get marrow themselves due to their teeth and jaws not being as strong... And so much blood just splattering everywhere...

-Moon regains himself first, reaching down to get a grip on Suns shoulder... And pulling him up, but only just slightly. As not to alert the freaks just a short ways away from them.

-They need to leave... Now!

-Sun is just locked up in horror at what he just watched but he yielded to being pulled back by Moon... They both turned to creep back the way they came-

-Only to stare at the sight of a young girl made of blue flames, holding one of the deers antlers in her hand and a piece of twine. Clearly staring at the brothers in shock.

...But Sun sees something different...

...for a moment he can see the little girl as she was before she mutated into a Wisp...

-This sight triggered something in Sun, the part of his coding that sought to protect children... and before Moon could stop him, Sun grabbed the little girl up and just starts booking it as fast as possible. His intent only being to get this child away from danger...

-Wisp, understandably, starts screaming

-Its a blood chilling, eerie sound that seems to carry in all directions without losing any volume. Immediately getting Bloodmoon and the others to freeze. All of their faces thoroughly soaked in blood and gore. Bloodmoon looks around, only to spot Moon and Sun... With Sun holding his little sister and dragging her away.

Bloodmoon: WISP!!!! Let go of our baby sister!!!

-They abandon their meal and started to chase Sun and Moon. The boys, Lycan and Vamp starting to make calls, strange whooping calls into the woods as they are just... Tearing after Sun and Moon

-Wisp is struggling amidst Suns grip and crying, while Moon is just screaming at Sun to drop her. But then the little girl ignites! She badly burns Suns arms and hands. Escaping Suns grip and rushing back to Bloodmoon and the others... Actually she plowed into Bloody so hard he actually fell backwards... Buying some time for Moon to pull up Sun and start partially dragging him away.

-Sun regains himself enough to just be running alongside his brother... And he makes the fatal mistake...

Sun: I think we lost them!

-A MASSIVE Wendigo-esqe creature explodes from the nearby trees, running on all fours it lowers its head that is adorned with huge pronged antlers and rams into both Sun and Moon. Sending them cascading down a steep hill

-After hitting the ground, Moon groaned in pain but managed to get to his knees pretty quickly. Only to realize they were now outside one of the Ranger cabins near the entrance of this park... He got a brief flicker of hope for a moment, thinking they might be able to escape if they booked it from here.

-That tiny moment of hope was dashed when the Wendigo creature leapt off the hill and landed only a short ways away from them. It's skeletal head lowered and blazing eyes locked completely on the brothers...

-Out of nowhere, chains seemed to snake out from amidst the foliage and ensnared both of the Celestial animatronics. Pulling them backwards until they were slammed against a tree and further wrapped up in the chains.

-From off to the side an eerie floating spectre was revealed to be the source of the chains... A young girl, probably in her mid-teenage years became visible. Wearing a raggedy dress and a hooded shawl, the chains seemingly coming out from the shawl...

-And within a few seconds, the vampire and werewolf children... Along with Bloodmoon and the mutant wolf. The little girl made of blue fire, Wisp, was in the form of a tiny ball of flame and positioned on the top of Bloodmoons head...

Wendigo: So... What happened? It's not every day you guys let out calls for all of us to get involved in one of your hunts.

Bloodmoon: We'll tell you later, but for right now... (He turns his hateful gaze straight at the bound forms of Sun and Moon... Particularly Sun) We have an old score to settle...

Chapter 5: The Episode That Shares A Face Part 1

FNAF Cryptid!Sun/Moon x Cryptid Hunter!Y/N (SFW)

Something’s watching you. Your internal warning system fires off, whispering of something unnatural. You shift, gazing back out the window, then freeze. In between the trees stands a man, young, early twenties, perhaps even a late teenager. He stares dead ahead at you through the glass, as if there were no barrier at all. Leaves fall on his clothes, sticking to his hair. He doesn’t blink. You stare back. His eyes are dull, almost dead in quality. That’s not human, whatever it is.

Word Count: ~9,900 Warnings: Mentions of death and night terrors.

A/N: I had to do a few heavy rewrites on this one, and I'm not entirely happy with it all but it's as good as it's gonna get at this point. Once again, I'm cutting up this 'episode' to make it more digestible, both for me as a writer and for you the reader! There are some self pretty fun scenes here with the boys that I had a lot of fun writing as well.

You and your animatronic friend are on break from cryptid hunting and happen to meet some children, then you have an interesting sighting yourself, with some disagreements about relaxation time, kids are rule breakers, and Moon makes a mistake. It looks like that break isn't going to last very long.

Thinking about an AU where Y/N is a cryptid hunter and finds what they believe is just an animatronic helper (abandon, creepy jester meant for kids, but hey, they're into weird stuff so this is awesome!) but little do they know is that a very supernatural and ambiguous, demonic creature is inhabiting the endoskeleton with two forms for the day and night, and well, the day creature is very taken with the cryptid hunter but the night demon is less than thrilled about following around a weak human. Cryptid hunter is unaware of the situation and believes the animatronic to be highly advanced, and not at all capable of scaring away ghouls and goblins with a look alone as he always stays behind their back, protective, and much more terrifying than anything they've ever hunted.

Hermitcraft Great British Bake Off AU

(Or the Great British Baking Show outside the UK)

With the start of a new series, I thought I'd compile this AU I came up with a while ago. Big shout out to @skywillsometimeswrite who helped me brainstorm nearly all of this (and accidentally got into the series sorry. Time to get emotional over bakers again.) 

It's Great British Bake Off, where the hermits take the place of the contestants, judges and some of the crew (with the recap boys as the hosts!) It follows the structure of the show, but to add maximum fluffiness, nobody leaves and the show works on a point system instead. The loser of each week does the washing up. (Not that the winner matters, this is all about the shenanigans.) Further explanations and what role each hermit fills with a short bio is under the cut!

The recording structure follows the usual routine. It takes place over several weeks, with the recording happening at the weekend. They stay at a hotel over the weekend. On the Saturday they record the Signature Challenge and the Technical. On the Sunday they film the Showstopper. Each week is themed, with the challenges fitting into that theme. The themes are often based around a certain kind of baking (pastry, bread, chocolate) but sometimes around time periods, places, or diets. I recommend googling or watching an episode of the show but a brief explanation of the challenges:

The Signature Challenge: They're given a certain thing (cake, pastry, biscuit, etc) to create. They've been able to practice at home. This is the opportunity to show personality and a home-cooked, rustic style with tried and tested bakes.

The Technical: The Judges take turns each week to set a recipe for an often uncommon bake. The recipe is bare-bones and the bakers have to use their intuition and knowledge about baking to create what's intended. This round is unpractised, and judged blind, with the judges outside the tent for the duration. The aim is to perfectly replicate the recipe given and that's how they're judged.

The Showstopper: A chance to bring out the big guns! They're often given a theme and a type of bake and then the contestants can go wild. The aim is to create something of professional quality, that makes the judges go 'wow' and still tastes good. Also practiced over the week, though sometimes less due to the size of the bakes.

Now onto the hermits:

The Judges are TFC and Biffa. TFC is the friendlier of the two. He does his best to find positives in bakes, although he enjoys making jokes about things that go wrong. Most of the contestants come to think of him as a grandad. Biffa gives more thorough criticism, but it helps the contestants improve a lot and is tailored towards the advice they need. They enjoy talking to the contestants about their bakes and lives outside the tent, both on and off camera. They've both had long careers in the industry.

The Hosts are our recap boys, Pixelriffs and Zloy. They're a dynamic duo in front of the camera, riffing off each other and the contestants naturally. They have a good balance of improvisation and planned skits. Zloy will doodle scenes from the tent during their downtime.

In alphabetical order, the Contestants:

1. Beef: Works as a butcher. It's often joked about, and not helped by him spilling red food colouring on his apron early in the series. He's incredibly good at piping and often creates artworks on top of his bakes for decoration. Absolutely smashes any biscuit decoration.

2. Cleo: Works as a teacher. Ironically, has to be censored at least once an episode and continuously hopes none of her students watch. It's hard to tell what she's doing until the last minute when she pulls it all together. She enjoys making little figures from fondant or rice crispy marshmallow mix.

3. Cub: Runs a sports equipment company. He likes coming up with creative solutions to the challenges and surprises the others by how focused he can become once in the zone. He has a deadpan sense of humour and a willingness to commit to bits. Often banters with Scar.

4. Etho: His job seems to change every time he mentions it. It never fails to catch the others off guard. He rarely explains his bakes, and his ability to mix flavours that shouldn't work but somehow do is infuriating. Sometimes, as he waits for things to bake, he uses the free time to play music on the baking equipment.

5. False: Works as a bodyguard. She says the details of her job are classified and never brings it up again. Nobody is sure if she's joking, but she's built. She's a very precise builder, with perfectionist tendencies that can sometimes come back to bite her if she focuses on them too much. She jumps between different themes with ease when decorating.

6. Grian: Works as an architect. He's fond of going big with his bakes, trying to push the limits of what's possible. However, he often gives himself too much to do, and ends up having to rush, disguise unfinished parts or the other contestants help him finish. He's bubbly in front of the camera and enjoys the occasional prank.

7. Impulse: Works as an electrical engineer. Also anxiety central. He's a very technical baker who's brilliant at following recipes. However, he will restart a bake if very minor things go wrong, which often leaves him pressed for time. Despite this, he's one of the most likely people to jump in and help someone who's struggling.

8. Keralis: Owns a bookstore. He loves decorating and his bakes are always some of the prettiest in the tent. Although he has a sleek, modern style, he can branch out when needed. He makes up his own pronunciation for ingredients, bakes and the other people in the tent. Gradually, everyone else starts using them too.

9. Scar: Works as a landscaper. Skilled at detailing and has out of the box thinking for his designs. Likes creating vehicles. However, sometimes he finds himself hiding bad baking with his decoration. His name proves accurate when half of his arm ends up bandaged in the first episode. Becomes good friends with Bdubs because of this.

10. Stress: Works as a personal trainer. Her bakes are always bright and colourful. It isn't a Stress bake if it doesn't make you smile. She's fairly equal on her decorating and her baking and enjoys a cartoonish style. A delight to have in the tent, loves helping other contestants and cheers them up if something doesn't go to plan.

11. xB: Medical researcher. His bakes are always creative, with fun stories behind them, if a bit dark. He's soft-spoken and doesn't raise his voice. He never quite swears but always comes close. The others can tell something's gone wrong when they hear a quiet 'dangit' or 'son of a-' and somebody jumps to find out what's happened.

12. Xisuma: Works as bee-keeper. He loves big shapes and patterns in his bakes. Often keeps things healthy(ish). He's primarily a technical baker and researches and practices his bakes extensively. However, he has a tendency to panic and makes silly mistakes (salt instead of sugar, forget to turn on the oven, etc.) 

The Crew Members:

Camera Crew:

Mumbo: Sometimes mistaken for being on a work placement/internship. He enjoys his work and takes a lot of the detail shots of the bakes. Although he can keep to himself, Iskall often brings him out of his shell and encourages him to chat with the contestants.

Ren: He's an incredibly chill presence to be around. He'll do his best to chat with contestants in-between filming and try to calm them down or hype them up. Usually he films stressful sequences with a reassuring smile and kind words. He enjoys singing in their downtime.

Zed: Very bouncy. He enjoys rushing around the tent to get over the shoulder shots or focus on the detail. He's good friends with Tango, and maybe he occasionally worries he’s ‘broken’ something to get the chance to talk to him on set. 

Sound:

Wels: He's calm and organised. He tests everybody's microphones are working and manages audio levels. He's good at handling distractions, but if they manage to catch him off-set they find he has a fun sense of humour and can give genuinely good advice. Enjoys singing to test the microphones when he thinks nobody's listening.

Wardrobe:

Iskall: Most of his work is done off-set, and he becomes good friends with the contestants, discussing their plans for bakes and chatting. He'll dart onto set to touch up make up when the cameras are off, offering words of encouragement as he does. Though it’s a bit concerning when he calls people’s bakes ‘of doom’.

On-site Medic:

Bdubs: Bdubs is a familiar sight with the accident prone contestants. He's always there with calm words and enthusiasm, talking the contestant down from their worry about their injury, helping them to relax. Despite his silliness, it's obvious he takes his job seriously. The contestants are glad to have him.

Set Manager:

Jevin: A bit chaotic, but he helps make sure things are set for filming. He enjoys getting the ingredients ready for the day and working out what they'll need. He also enjoys bullying Hypno. They've worked together a few times now. He enjoys a good joke when he gets the chance.

Hypno: Fairly relaxed, but he can appreciate a good joke and he appreciates Jevin. He helps organise ingredients and makes sure that things run smoothly on set. Very precise with his work, he doesn't cut corners and makes sure everyone has what they need, when they need it. A good person for the contestants to talk to.

Researcher:

Joe: He takes great pride in searching recipes, trying new things and adding them to his repertoire. Sure he might use a few too many words, but he's good at his job. He's not often on set, working mostly with Jevin and Hypno behind the scenes. But he might step in as tech if he's needed. A bit of a cryptid to the contestants.

Technicians:

Tango: A good friend of Zed. Even though he has some... Less than professional terms, he does his job well, and enjoys the opportunities he gets to socialise with the bakers. Very smiley and friendly, however if he’s in the tent, it’s likely something has gone very wrong. He's terrible at baking himself, much to the amusement of those who find out.

Doc: More serious than Tango, he's there to do a job, not make friends. Then he ends up making friends anyway. They're infectious. Grian enjoys 'breaking' things to annoy him (and have a chance to pull him on set to talk to him.) He does, secretly, enjoy the shenanigans the contestants get up to. But he'd never admit it.

Keeping in mind, I care less about the accuracy of this and more about The Shenanigans:

The first time Xisuma gets everything correct in a bake, he is convinced he’s still got something wrong. He spends the entire time until judging expecting there will be something wrong with it that they only discover during judging. A lot of memes are made out of his worrying.

At the end of filming during the heatwave, they have a lake party. Someone challenges Cub to jump in the lake and he cannonballs straight in. The others are surprised. Scar, who knows him well enough by then, is not. Doc is dragged in. Xisuma sits neatly on the edge and looks so relaxed they’d feel too guilty pulling him in. Keralis sits next to him and splashes him a little instead.

Cleo will make frequent asides to her students to try and impart good messages. Sometimes she swears during them. Then swears again upon realising. She uses her teacher voice on the other contestants a few times by accident (and on purpose.)

Someone doubts False’s strength. It’s probably Grian. She makes a beeline straight for him and hauls him onto her shoulder. And possibly into the lake. She makes it her mission to pick up most of the guys, whether they’re ready or not (with prior consent, of course.)

Stress and False work out together in the mornings. Sometimes some of the other contestants will join them and she’ll lead an impromptu work out session. She also does yoga in the evenings to calm down after filming. A fair few join her for that. 

Some of Etho’s jobs include: ‘I’m a gardener so I want this cake to include edible flowers’, ‘I’m a beekeeper so I wanted to use honey.’, ‘I’m a piano tuner so music is a big part of my life’, ‘I used to hack as a part-time job’. His job subtitle changes each episode. He gets a lot of concerned looks from other contestants.

Grian and Scar become frenemies because they’re bench buddies. Grian loves bullying Mumbo off-camera. He argues with Iskall over wearing anything but a red sweater. He loves complimenting everyone’s bakes. He makes a lot of friends. 

Tango and Zed often try to take jobs on the same productions. Zed likes to bother Tango with stupid ways to make broken tech work. Impulse will sit there and try to fix it in earnest. They have to remind Impulse he’s supposed to having a break before filming resumes. The three quickly become friends and can be found hanging out together.

During one of the heatwaves, Impulse near passes out from heat exhaustion. There’s eleven concerned people crowding around him, and it’s one of the only times Bdubs has to seriously raise his voice to gain control of the situation. The others are all sat outside in the shade and given water. Impulse goes back to the hotel and is ambushed by a lot of very concerned friends later that day. They take good care of him and threaten to beat him up if he doesn’t take better care of himself.

During Saturday evenings is when they’ll all lounge around the hotel and hype each other up for the show stopper. They like discussing what their plans are and sharing their ideas. A lot of dumb things happen to help work off the nervous excitement. 

There’s also a lot of calming each other down when they’re stressed out and caring about each other. It’s the Found Family VibesTM.

Even though washing up is supposed to be a punishment, a group of them usually end up doing it together and singing loudly and terribly to the radio.

One of the contestants catches Wels singing as he tests his microphone and drags him outside to come and jam with the contestants. Ren joins in. Etho provides backing. It delays things a little but they agree it’s worth it.

Keralis and Beef at some point have some made up war between them that is completely stupid, entirely overdramatic, and gives all the contestants a lot to laugh about.

There is, absolutely, a prank war part way through the season. It also extends off-set. Nobody is safe.

I haven’t seen anyone doing this AU before, and I apologise if they have! I hope there’s enough unique ideas to set it apart. But yeah, this is the AU I use when I just want some Fluffy content. Thanks for reading!

[Commissioned by @listmaker-lastcity​. The Oklahoma Octopus is more urban legend than cryptid, as it is a mystery creature with no reported sightings or photographs. It is also a beast of the 21st century. The oldest reference I can find to it is in Michael Newton’s Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology from 2005. It got a big boost in popularity with the Animal Planet series Lost Tapes, every episode of which was a found-footage horror movie about some cryptid or other.

My version makes reference to the fact that the three lakes supposedly home to the Oklahoma Octopus are all man-made lakes dating back to the 20th century. The “explanation” for how an Oklahoma Octopus could exist call back to the Western Interior Seaway of the Cretaceous, and how some octopodes could supposedly have survived since then and evolved into freshwater organisms. Considering that no freshwater cephalopods have evolved in their 450 million year history, that explanation is only slightly more feasible than my “undead that remember the oceans that were once here” explanation for the PFRPG version.]

Lochtopus CR 12 CE Undead This rugose horror looks like an oversized human skull with eight tentacles growing from where the jaws should be. It is reddish brown in color and is the size of a horse.

A lochtopus is an undead horror created by the echoes of memories of ancient life. Many lands were once underwater, and the earth is embedded with fossils of marine creatures. If this land is first despoiled and then flooded to create an artificial lake or reservoir, a lochtopus may form from the tainted ground, taking the form of a tentacled creature growing from a death’s head. It seeks to kill the air-breathing creatures that mock it, squeezing the air from their lungs as it drags them into a watery grave.

As undead creatures, lochtopuses have no real place in an ecosystem. They tend to ignore wildlife and focus their attacks on sapient creatures, making their lakes havens for fish and birds. This attracts fishermen and hunters, whom the lochtopus then kills. The lochtopus can also imitate sounds, luring do-gooders towards cries for help. Its stony construction resists blows and ignores cold and electricity damage, but the sedimentary rocks that comprise its form are susceptible to acids. If a lochtopus is slain, but the wrong that desecrated the land goes uncorrected or unpunished, a new lochtopus will shortly form to replace the old.

a rarely seen deep sea fish. The closest known thing to a real cryptid imo. looks just like some type of water dragon. Could be the inspiration for some historic deep sea monster sightings? 

according to wikipedia “The giant oarfish is by far the largest member of the family at a published total length of 8 m (26 ft)—with unconfirmed reports of 11 m (36 ft) and 17 m (56 ft)[4][5][6] specimens—and 270 kg (600 lb) in weight.[7] The streamer fish is known to reach 3 m (10 ft) in length,[8] while the largest recorded specimen of Regalecus russelii measured 5.4 m (18 ft).[9] Oarfish have the longest known length of any living species of bony fish.[10]” 

When found in real life they are mostly found dead, as is common with most deep sea creatures. A few have been found in Japan and the Japanese name for them is 竜宮の使い/ リュウグウノツカイ (American Wikipedia lists the Kanji, but japanese wikipedia spells it in Katakana. Katakana is the name used for a lot of animals or their scientific names) Which means “Messenger from the Sea God's Palace” (at least according to wikipedia)  and probably relates to the famous myth of urashima taro who visits the Dragon palace  (I can’t say for sure about this, but that’s what it bring sto mind for me.)

Also from wikipedia “In 2016, Animal Planet aired an episode of the television series River Monsters named "Deep Sea Demon" in which Jeremy Wade was filmed during an encounter with a live oarfish while diving. The oarfish at this location seemed to be using a buoy anchor chain as a guide to ascend to the surface. On his second diving attempt, he was able to film two live oarfish as they ascended relatively close to the surface. This is the only known footage of human interaction with a healthy oarfish in its own environment. Wade was even able to touch one of the oarfish with his hand.”

As we wrap up our coverage of the Frederick Valentich story in Part 3 of our series, we'll continue our conversation with Melbourne resident Chris Tyler about his research into the case and other possibly related UFO incidents around the same time and area. We'll also examine the Australian Department of Transport accident report's remaining findings and discuss its conclusions. As you begin to reach your own conclusions, it's essential to keep several factors in mind which make the usual mundane explanations seem inadequate. The high number of independent sightings of aerial phenomena occurring in proximity to the disappearance suggests Valentich wasn't alone in witnessing it. The distance a Cessna cowling was found from a potential crash site and the lack of definitive markings makes its discovery inconclusive. Even if the cowling did come from Valentich's plane, it still doesn't account for what caused him to ditch, let alone other missing debris and Valentich himself. Perhaps the most surprising revelation comes from the summary of the report itself. Rather than dismissing the possibility of a UFO entanglement, an official government statement lists it as one of four likeliest scenarios. Remember that Valentich himself never suggested he interacted with a UFO in his last transmission, despite being painted as obsessed with them by his skeptics. When these factors and more are taken together, it's no wonder this incident is one of the most baffling and tragic in the phenomenon's history and leaves us all to wonder, what happened to Frederick Valentich and where did he go?

So for the inbox ask, I'd like to know what kind of media you are into (books, films, any specific genre, etc.) and how much it influences your writing. From what I can guess, you probably like horror, the unfimiliar and other stuff like that, so I'm particulary curious about the specifics, maybe info dump if ya'd like :)

Ok so this might get long but the thingyou gotta know about me is that I’m not as wildly into horror as you may think.I AM though, I love horror, but more for the creativity that horroroffers as a genre. I’m not a fan of jumpscares, they’re lazy, I HATE zombies (i literally cannot watchzombie movies they terrify me) I hate gratuitous goreso i can’t watch SAW, in grade 8 i tried watching the human centipede andcouldn’t finish it and even then i went to sleep with a rosary that night. Butthe thing is, none of that is creative to me, I don’t like that kind of horror.It’s not interesting. Which is why I lean more into otherworldly kind ofhorror, cause then I don’t know what I’m going to get. And that’s really my relationship to all media. If its not fun or creative or interesting, i’m not into it. 

The X-Files: when i was little this really started me on anything remotely close to horror and I love this show. Every episode is something new with creative monsters and worlds and half the time you never get an answer to what anything, that’s just how it is. It definitely influenced me in that way, that you just have a monster and its there and it just is and you can;t always explain it, you just have to deal with it. PLUS it showed me horror can be fun! This show is hilarious and the characters ACT like real people, not just characters there to be killed. From this i took that you can care about your characters in horror and that you can have a lot of fun in horror. 

Welcome to Nightvale: I learned how to write horror but like, in a fun way. Also it taught me to keep things real weird and never explain anything. 

Folklore Texts: Honestly folklore inspires my writing a lot more than horror does. The monsters, creatures, rituals, and other traditions in folklore are always wild and varies so much between cultures. It shows the creativity of humanity when it comes to explaining how things work in a world that you don’t completely understand. And we still do it too! We have modern folklore in the form of whatever people think is going on on Skinwalker Ranch, in the form of alien sightings, the mothman and other cryptids. Folklore is just so cool and i love it a lot. 

American Gods: this book changed my life. I had never seen mythology told like this and it was incredible. Like, the gods are written like other-worldly beings but still living in the modern world and that was just wild. I try to use the same kind of descriptions that the book uses bc the way Gaiman writes the gods is just amazing, i love this book.

Sandman: These comics fucked me up when i was younger (i should not have been reading them when i was 11) but they were really good for strange Beings and it was my start at understanding kinda cosmic horror

If you haven’t seen The Ritual, watch it just to see that monster b/c holy shit Moder gave me back hope for monsters in movies. 

MBMBAM: a bit of an outlier on this list but honestly it influences me more than you’d think, b/c the brothers are always talking about weird situations and its so hilarious, especially haunted doll watch like. THIS is how I want my characters to react when they come across monsters and haunted things! 

I’mma say it again Control is a wildass game that just hits all the right spots and everyone should check out. It reminded me why i love unfamiliar dimensional weirdness!

in the same vein the SCP Foundation is just. a well of inspiration (my favourite scp is scp 2521 love that information loving boy)

I love period romances, just the way that love is more of a gentle thing and romance is actual romance and its passionate while being soft at the same time

1. It’s your birthday! What did you ask for and did you receive it?

I always ask my mom for Durarara. I got season 1 now awhile back so now i’m asking for season 2. She thinks the name is funny and not sure how I started but that’s always my answer for laughs now haha. I didn’t get it, and season 1 I bought myself, found it for a good price where I used to work.

2. What was the last song or album you listened to?

Listened to EXO-SC’s album What a Life to get ready for their new on. So ready!

3. What is your go to snack when you’re hungry or bored?

It’s weird I like oreos when I really don’t like chocolate, its like toned down chocolate. That and bread!

4. What is your morning routine?

Wake up when my dog Angel wants to go to the bathroom, go on a quick walk, eat breakfast while watching an episode of community or something on Netflix, then shower and wash my face, go on another walk that is longer with Angel before work.

5. What mythical/cryptid creature would you be?

Either a majestic unicorn or a dragon. FIRE.

6. How do you interact with someone that you don’t like?

I’m an adult so I try to be professional about it. I won’t be mean to them, but I won’t go out of my way to interact with them if I can help it. My responses will probably be short and to the point.

7. How do you define a toxic person?

Oh geeze there are so many ways I feel like. Someone who takes advantage of others, acts selfishly, and refuses to listen to reason. If they hurt someone’s feelings they blame the victim and feel like they can do no harm. 

8. Have you ever been to a concert or fanmeet type of event? If not, would you want to?

I’ve been to BTS Speak Yourself Tour in Chicago and Monsta X We are Here Tour in Dallas, both very amazing. I would love to go to a fanmeet if that were possible. I kinda been to one but not for kpop. I used to work at conventions and helped out in the autograph area. Its crazy and stressful so I can’t imagine what all the staff at kpop events have to go through.

9. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?

Like I’m not going to follow it blindly, but I think it is one way to look at and interpret the world.

10. If you had only one sense (hearing, touch, sight, etc.), which would you want?

Hearing. Music is my life, without it I’d lose a lot of joy. 

11. Who is your favorite celebrity or idol?

I can make you a long list, but I’ll do my best to keep it short. So I’ll stick with my kpop biases from my favorite groups and some actors/actresses. Jimin, Chen, I.M., BamBam, Taemin, Wooyoung, and Yuta. Tom Hanks, Stanley Tucci, and Sandra Bullock.

12. If you could talk to your favorite celebrity(s) for a limited time, what would you tell them?

If I ever met anyone from BTS I’d like to thank them for helping me understand myself better, and also helping me survive grad school after discovering their great tunes.

13. I’m taking you out on a date and it’s your choice. Where are we going and what are we going to do?

Aquarium! haha no idea why, but I just really want to go on a date to an aquarium. Get some good food after.

14. Do you like sweet or savory foods?

Depends really, how about both? Chicken and waffles!!

15. Do you have any band merchandise or merchandise from any of your favorite artists? If so, what?

hahahahaha yes. Like it’s too much to name really. I got tons of bts, monsta x, got7, and exo posters, photo cards up in my room and shirts from the concerts I’ve been to. Got lots of BT21 merch -  pillows, keychains, clothes, wallet, etc. I have anime and video game posters/fan art and autographs i pick up at conventions too. Lots of one piece, my hero academia, haikyuu, fire emblem, Dragon Ball Z, Legend of Zelda things. there’s a bunch of things in my closet i don’t have room to put out in my room, and lots of my clothes are references to pop culture. I have a lot of video game art books too. I like things! It’s really bad.

1) Mulder and Scully travel to Wiltshire to investigate some strange lights seen at Stonehenge on the night of the summer solstice. Mulder tries to convince Scully that while they’re in the area, they should try to use their expired credentials to get themselves into Glastonbury Festival. It doesn’t work but they hang outside the gates like losers just to listen to Radiohead’s headline set from a distance.

2) Mulder and Scully travel to London, investigate the vampire of Highgate Cemetery amid fresh reports, and kiss while riding the London Eye at sunset.

3) Mulder and Scully travel to Cornwall after recent appearances from the Beast Of Bodmin Moor, and extend their travel down to St Ives where they enjoy ice cream and try (and fail) to surf. 

4) Mulder and Scully travel to Suffolk to Rendlesham Forest, after the lights of “Britain’s Roswell” incident start reappearing for the first time in decades. Although they disagree on what their investigation shows, they have fun, and agree that they’ve finally had “a nice trip to the forest”.

5) Mulder and Scully travel to Wales, after reports that the Lady Of The Lake of Llyn y Fan Fach has reappeared and seduced a young soldier who was training on the surrounding mountains. They climb Pen y Fan while in the area and take a selfie at the highest point of the southern UK.

6) Mulder and Scully travel further west in Wales, after Mulder gets wind of the legend of the lost sunken city of Cantre'r Gwaelod. Scully enjoys admiring the dramatic coastline while Mulder quizzes locals about the lost city’s last reported sighting.

7) Mulder and Scully return to London, after Jack The Ripper serial killings start up again. Mulder believes that it’s the original killer’s ghost committing the crimes. Scully takes them to the Tower Of London and to the gates of Buckingham Palace, thanks to her new curious interest in the British Royal Family.

8) In the series finale, Mulder and Scully travel to Scotland on their 20th anniversary to find the real truth behind the Loch Ness Monster legend. On the way back they go via Loch Lomond, where they rent out a lodge by the water where they get to enjoy their anniversary.
