It's so so disingenuous to claim that Dany should have taken the time to separate xyz privileged persons in Meereen because "not everyone sanctioned the murder of those 163 children 😞". Oh ok. So that very wealthy, very influential man did not personally give the order. Maybe he doesn't even have slaves. But riddle me this: Where did their wealth come from? What are the historical foundations of their political power? In a society that continues to practice oppression (and a society where wealth and status is defined by it), how is it that they continue to hold as much influence and social capital as the "direct evil"? None of this is happening in a vacuum. And like....this is a society where the dehumanization of slaves is systemic. It runs policy and economics. And the people in power obviously know each other and support each other (considering the fact that they can keep wealth and influence!!!). So does it matter if xzy didn't give the order? Does it matter if they were not the ones nailing those kids to the posts? What matters is that they saw oppression, did absolutely nothing in the face of it, and continued to benefit from it. They are not innocent. Evil isn't just related to the guy pulling the trigger. The devil is also the one who's standing in the back, watching, and counting his coffers. And it terrifies me to think about what some of you would be saying in the real world, in the face of oppression. "I cannot be held accountable because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger"....but you continued to benefit from the privilege afforded to you by the oppressive system AND DID/SAID NOTHING. By turning a blind eye, you have taken the side of the oppressor. So I'm sorry sweetie but you 👏 are 👏 part 👏 of 👏 the 👏 problem 👏 big time!

Something I’ve noticed about a lot of Rhaenyra stans (that is so aggravating) is they are always talking about they don’t want Rhaenyra to be "whitewashed" but when you bring up the darker things she’s done/will do (calling for her younger brother to be “sharply questioned,” ordering Ser Vaemond’s head to be chopped off and then feeding him to Syrax, never punishing her husband for ordering Blood and Cheese (and I wouldn’t be surprised if in the show they have her order Blood and Cheese), ordering the death of Nettles for having a romantic/sexual relationship with her husband and yet not extending those orders to her husband, and her blatant racism towards Nettles) suddenly Fire & Blood is just a misogynistic book meant to paint Rhaenyra(and Daemon) in a bad light.
I wonder who’s going to tell them they can’t have their cake and eat it too 🫠
Moving the goalposts is their favorite pastime 😗
One moment Fire & Blood is the most reliable source when it talks about how the realm thought a seven-year-old Rhaenyra was a darling(albeit spoiled) child and how romantic it is that Daemon crept on her at fourteen (cause that’s the evidence they use to support him luving her so very much even though he left the capital when she was a child because he got butthurt over her being made heir, but he realized that he could still be close to the throne if he seduced her and forced his brother to hand her over to him🙃) which is still underage by Westeros standards. The next it’s not to be trusted because the evil men have it out for my Valyrian queen.
I suppose for some it is easier to believe a white woman, who is fine with killing her own flesh and blood, innocent babies(I love Daemon, but a son for a son should’ve meant going after Daeron or Aemond, but they weren’t easy targets), is a complete and total innocent victim 100% of the time😗
I’ve never ever heard of a white woman using her privilege to try and commit a hate crime against a Black woman. Like ever. Especially not a white woman who comes from a racist family who’s own grandmother mistook a Black man for a demon because of his skin tone. It just can’t be true 🙃
She was just stressed. You know how that goes cause we've all wanted to commit racially motivated murder when we are stressed ☺️
They are happy with the show painting her in the best light possible and will even cheer on the show doing away with book canon(see how much they celebrated Laena being “unloved” by Daemon) that they claim to love so much if it makes queenie look good🤷🏽♀️

I understand that some people want to watch shows and movies just to have fun in the moment, and that their version of fun does not include analyzing anything. It is entertainment that helps pass the time, fine. But it is so disappointing and maddening to be treated (irl) like a weirdo for wanting to discuss media…like sorry I wanted to get your opinion and do a little brain exercise by trying to pick out themes and allegories. I guess I’ll just go fuck myself 😒

📓give me yer plots
Plots? Plural?? Okay, you get three ♡
I only included ideas that I am not currently/actively working on.
Maedhros + Mairon team up AU:
After Luthien and Beren nab the silmaril and scram, Melkor actually does give chase and follows them south towards Doriath, and he cuts through Nan Dungortheb where he is ambushed by Ungoliant's spawn (I think if he was alone, given how physically weak he is at this point in time + just having woken up from Luthien's spell, he'd be easy prey) who take him and his crown with the remaining two silmarils and bear him to the south of the continent where Ungoliant has been waiting to exact revenge and claim/consume the jewels. Mairon comes home after having lost Tol-in-Gaurhoth to find Angband in panic, not being able to find Melkor anywhere. He decides to infiltrate Himring, it being the closest center of elven activity and information that is also open enough to travelers, etc. for a new face to pass unnoticed, to see if he can find out if the enemy has Melkor. Maedhros, having had him as a visitor for 30+ years while hanging off a cliff, recognizes him pretty quickly despite the disguise. They team up and go on a life-changing fieldtrip to the south of Beleriand to retrieve one dark lord (for Mairon) and two silmarils (for Maedhros).
Maeglin in Rivendell AU:
Maeglin either is brought back by the Powers to help in the War of the Ring (yes, it's inspired by that one poll a while back XD) or actually somehow survived (I haven't decided which I prefer) and ends up in Rivendell. Not really a cohesive linear plot kind of fic, as much as a series of character interactions/exploration of themes: Maeglin and Elrond, Maeglin and Glorfindel, Maeglin and Eowyn, Maeglin and Frodo, to list a few of my top ones.
Eol makes a stone that outshines the silmarils AU:
@melkors-defense-attorney and @mirkwood-hr-department take equal share of the blame credit for this completely wild idea yes it still lives rent free in my head, I have not forgotten about it XD. Basically, Eol is much closer to the dwarves than he is to his own kin, and would probably be more comfortable going to them for courtship advice re: Aredhel. Hence, presenting her with the shiniest rock as a gift early on in her stay at Nan Elmoth. Problem is, she has seen the silmarils, so it would have to be an extra shiny rock. He accidentally makes a stone that outdoes the silmarils; cascading world-wide consequences follow XD (These include: angry Feanorians; angry Melkor, at not having the Shiniest Thing™ and seeking Eol out in his forest a la Evil Queen style, to trade his two silmarils for this one; Eol (in this timeline, never having been to Angband) being so isolated he literally doesn't recognize Melkor and slamming the door in Melkor's face ("no solicitors!!"); angrier Melkor (that's two door-slamming elves now); angrier Feanorians (that Melkor would seek to trade the silmarils with Eol of all people); one very swoony Aredhel at the balls of this elf throwing the Dark Lord out on his ass.)

love how I put off completely innocuous and easy tasks endlessly to the point I'm sure people around me think I'm some kind of oblivious naive idiot or else irresponsibly lazy and meanwhile I'm fighting an epic interior battle against crushing anxiety and literally have been repeatedly on the verge of tears over my inability to do the @#$% thing

“I own this rare figurine of a character from [insert media here]! And that special limited run piece of merchandise! And that original artwork! And that out of print VHS/DVD set/game cartridge/book collection! And this photograph of me meeting the creator! And these autographs! That makes ME a more dedicated and better fan than you!”
No, what you are is privileged to have access to money and opportunities in order to obtain things that physically represent your fandom. Be grateful for it. You are never no more or less a fan of something based off of the amount of memorabilia you own or clout you have. You are always more of a jerk if you think you’re better than others for it though!
