thinking abt (the great) war and disability and dion again.

was reading US surgeon-general/american red cross magazine called "carry on," which was published about and for the war disabled and esp ppl with new amputations. its view is p typical: a man doesnt need to be pitied or given money or he'll become wretched and depressed and a social parasite, so we're going to assure u that u can do all kinds of work, make ur own money, and do everything a normal man can do w some work arounds.

meanwhile hostels like st dunstan's for newly blind ppl chartered rehab programs thru donations by making stock appeals abt sacrifice, bravery, and the terror + misery of losing smth you thought was indelible to ur life once. and these two examples typify a lot of the attitudes that sassoon sums up in 'does it matter?' which, btw, im still pissed that the sass biopic didnt use at the end so that it could quote wilfred owen's 'disabled' instead??? in the end, both of their poetry still has a root in the fear of disability occuring to themselves that i think is more evident than in some fiction writers

jeno heltai's aviator w one arm had everything wrong w his head via hallucinations, alcoholism, distorted sense of time and value, that it was fairly easy to forget that karmel depicted a figure that was frightening to others bc of his amputation + not solely his mental condition. ernst weiss almost does the same thing in his short story abt the man who loses himself in rage and blame after he gets invalidated home bc his genitals got lobbed off in the war. the chara describes how he feels and looks feminized for a bit, and then it kind of gets lost in him ranting abt cows and rocks and killing his wife.

and like, if we take a step back from the stories, theyve created a character made more frightening by their physical disabilities, visible and not, which kind of makes them more and less of people at the same time. they escape the matyr figure and become psychological studies. i want to read more.

i think of how the US economy expected men to return capable of the same work they were doing before (or more), and how, like in larry barretto's writing, they didnt account for how many would be mentally and physically unable to do it. modeled after germany, disabled men were then shuffled through work programs modeled to give them independence through undervalued labor like on farms, which must have exacerbated all kinds of economic class things re: those who had to take care of themselves vs those who had family who could do it for them

anyway. i think back to this again bc i find that when i think of dion, i project this interest on him. ofc i have my right arm amputee dion, but i find myself thinking how any challenge to his relationship w his body, what parts he he has autonomy over, and so on make my brain brrrr. he has nothing of the societal vulnerability of the normal soldier, tho, but his temperament and the jist of the curse, bahamut, and his wider duty attract me to the idea

what if the boom after origin had damaged his hearing, or if he starts to betray symptoms of a concussion? how does he write when the curse stiffness his wrist, does the flying and jumping do anything to his lungs or balance, and do any of his medicines nauseate him? if his foot was twisted or his hip was weak, would he allow himself to walk less or until he couldnt? what narrative would he buy into abt his worth, purpose, and responsibility? i wanna see all kinds of dions

Passen ze schijnhuwelijken toe, een straight heterostel suggererend, bijvoorbeeld tussen een mannelijke biseksueel en een vrouwelijke biseksueel? Komt je dit bekend voor?

Is Willem-Alexander ook al geslachtsdiffuus? Biseksueel? Zoveel geslachtsdiffusen hoog in de hiërarchie, is dit onder invloed van het (geslachtsdiffuse) koninklijk huis? Het is een matriarchaat en er is geen ruimte voor een patriarch? Te gedisciplineerd? Kanttekening. De ene geslachtsdiffuse laten ze hoogwaardigheidsbekleder worden. ('Ze', dat is stiekemweg de A.I.V.D.- atmosfeer)? (Is het 'Gay en van de A.I.V.D.')? Maar om te vervolgen, de andere geslachtsdiffuse, door al met al, vervalt bijvoorbeeld tot in de prostitutie. Een hoop geslachtsdiffusen (met name biseksuelen) zitten in de prostitutie. Dat klopt toch? Door dit alles aan te kaarten ben ik veroordeeld geworden. Het vonnis was niet valide. Ik heb recht op rehabilitaties. Ik ben op het spoor gekomen van dit alles o.a. n.a.v. een paar gesprekjes met een psycholoog. Ook heb ik contact gehad, en feitelijk heb ik nog steeds contact met parapsychologen. Parapsychologen in overheidsdienst? Van die heb ik onderhavige informatie gekregen. (Para)psychologen ondergebracht bij een geheime overheidsdienst? Kun je eens onderzoek doen? Wie of wat is nou toch die kruiwagen? Heeft het een bepaalde etnische achtergrond? (By the way. Ik heb ook die achtergrond). Al die geslachtsdiffusen.... Dat kan niet de bedoeling zijn. Wat wel de bedoeling moet zijn weten genoemde (para)psychologen.

'Foul Play' wordt er toegepast. Is men hebberig? Asociaal? Antisociaal? Wat zal dit onbewust veroorzaken bij o.a. de jeugd? Wat zal dit onbewust veroorzaken in samenlevingen? Heel wat namen zijn genoemd in relatie tot het geslachtsdiffuus zijn. Wie en wat kun je bevestigen? Kan jij ietwat wat aan onderzoek(sjournalistiek) doen? Hoe moet dit nou opgelost worden? Hoe moet dit gecommuniceerd worden? Hoe moet bijvoorbeeld de media dit brengen?

Graag een informatieve reactie. Ook graag een laverende reactie, zodat we niet hoeven te echoën. Stalking kan dit onmogelijk zijn. Ruptuur is hierover. Ware getuigenissen zullen aan het gemoed lucht geven. De wal keert het schip. Ik doe dit niet voor geldelijk gewin. We moeten naar een wereld zonder geld. Er moet gekozen worden voor ruilhandel en zo, ook weer zonder pecuniair gewin. Iedereen evenveel. Everyone as much. Dus graag een informatieve reactie, en ook graag een laverende reactie. • he would genuinely love to be one of those stereotypical ‘chocolate and rose bouquet’ romantics, but frankly, he just can’t be bothered.

• he’ll let you get lost in an unknown and busy location, as long as he’s the one that gets to find you.

• he insists that you treat him like a prince but also laughs at this fact, knowing for a fact that he’s a spoilt brat and not at all ashamed of that.

• looks absolutely adorable with messy hair and hickeys on his neck and he knows it.

• he starts making notes for his wedding vows with every partner as soon as they meet and keeps them regardless of whether the relationship lasted or not. he tends to frame the ones that hurt him the most.

• he’ll play celine dion on a recorder for you if you ask him nicely — and oh, he can play la vie on rose too —- and careless whisper!

• would definitely sacrifice his jacket even though he’s usually the one that needs it in the first place

• imagine drunken kisses and passive smoking in a group, with wilfred holding his arm around you because you’re his property and nobody’s else’s.

• he keeps a book of poetry in his bag for when he’s in need of a romantic breakthrough, but it’s mostly a desperate escape for humour.

• he genuinely likes it when people eye his partners up, because he knows that it means he’s snagged a good one — any progressions made will of course be met with a middle finger and a smart mouth, though.

• when he’s married, he plans to grow old with his partner and get lots of cats, purely because he adores them and also because he’s a bit like freddie mercury in that sense.

• he also likes it when other people make his partner jealous as well, because it makes him feel good about himself and boosts his ego just a little bit more.

• * strong, spoilt-brat power bottom vibes *

• he’s definitely one to prefer sex and kissing to cuddles and anything else of the sort, though when he’s feeling vulnerable, he’s an obvious whore for fluffy business.

• he’ll read bedtime stories for his partner even if they don’t seem interesting, because he knows that he’ll get to watch them fall asleep and lay there in a peaceful state — something that he personally struggles to achieve.

• he’s rather secretive when around other people but very demanding and passionate when alone with his lover. he’s an obvious power bottom and he’s not ashamed to admit that.

• *constant careless whisper*

• he prefers to use nicknames that he has picked up in different languages, even though he can’t always understand what they mean. therefore, don’t be surprised if he ends up calling you ‘his sausage’ in vietnamese on an accidental whim.

• intimacy is definitely not an awkward subject for the young man and discussing anything to do with it would not make him embarrassed. he’s usually the one that has things done to him, so when it comes to ideas, the more the merrier.

• miserable morning wilfred is whiny yet loveable and whenever he wakes up during the morning after, his curly mess of a hairstyle is revealed until he reaches desperately for his straighteners.
