Young Royals is the very-long but very-well-written one that’s on everyone’s rec lists and has over 5k kudos on AO3.

Heartstopper is the 65/? chapter one that’s written by an earnest teenager who grew up in queer online spaces.

RWRB is the fluffy one with 10 chapters that you skimmed through quickly except the 7th chapter which is bookmarked because it has the most incredible sex scene you’ve ever read, but you’ve never thought twice about the rest of the story.

Young Royals is so stupidly well-written I’m sitting here screaming into eternity over it. Everything is connected so meticulously, the characters all have their moments of unreliability and depth, and it must be such a gift to a young actor to have a show like this to showcase their skill. Not to mention literally all the decisions they’re making for Simon and Wilhelm’s relationship are what I dreamed of seeing in a queer story as a teenager but never thought would ever actually happen.

This video was inspired by the song (Achilles come down by Gang Of Youths) and one of the most heart-breaking and beautiful novels I've ever read 'Song of Achilles' by Madeline Miller. I honestly recommend reading it if you haven't already. The descriptions of characters, feelings, surroundings is mesmerizing, also not to mention the love and connection you feel between Achilles and Patroclus. The text you see in the video are actually quotes from this very book.

I choose Wilhelm and Simon from Young Royals because as soon as I watched the show the parallels between the myth/novel and their story was too accurate, also they look similar to what Patrochilles looked like (at least how I imagined them in my mind).

Erik’s death

TW: s**cide This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I genuinely think there is a possibility that Erik killed himself. Now, hear me out. In ep.4, Wilhelm says he used to make fun of Erik for being afraid of driving too fast and not making proper use of his car. So the fact that he was overspeeding at the time of the accident without any context whatsoever was weird in the first place. There is also that conversation about August father where Erik implied that Wilhelm was too young to understand/ being told it was a suicide but Wilhelm just cut him off by saying he had to go training. I don’t know why but I was always a bit surprised that this specific topic was discussed in the rare interactions we see between the two brothers. Even though it gave us insight on August, I like to believe it was foreshadowing. Now, I don’t think that Erik was clinically suicidal or depressive per se. It feels more like a Freundian slip or an unconscious act. When someone wants to remove themselves from an uncomfortable situation or from a specific period of their life, then their subconscious may act on it. Like cheating spouses who feel guilty and get involved in a car crash on their way home, or burned-out persons who cross the road at the wrong time after work. They don’t think actively about suicide but, in the brief, infinitesimal moment where they’re faced with the possibility of dying, boom, freundian slip. And I think this is exactly what happened with Erik. He was a 21(?) years-old young adult, faced with pressure and responsabilities and basically no way out of this, except for abdicating or, in this case, dying. And I know that Erik looked like he was handling the whole prince situation way better than Wilhelm but there were two instances were he showed genuine annoyance about his role: - In his short burst of anger toward Wilhelm in ep 1 where he said “You just have to keep a facade”. You could tell it was personal - When Wilhelm talks about his crush and Erik looks away and tells him to enjoy it as much as he can because soon anough people will start to have opinions.

I don’t think Erik actively choose to die, because he loved Wilhelm too much to leave him alone and was probably fine with being a Crown Prince on a surface level but yeah, the mind can do crazy things. P-S : I just found out that the actor who plays Erik, Ivar Forsling (brilliant actor btw), also talked about the possibility that Erik may have killed himself in an interview that he gave, like, 10 months ago. So visibly my theory ain’t brand new and I just invented wet water but I hope you guys will understand my reasonning though.
