Twitter has been eye opening to say the least, like black folks are just as cooked as the yts they want approval from which I knew, just had no idea how many of you are getting fucked and willingly. I'm in my Joker era so its sad but also kinda funny to me.

on the bg3 disabled post line, like. aiy'igs cult is a bunch of disabled losers. i rly just wanted to take the concept of the conventional malign lovecraftian cult and turn it inside out
the goddess in question is of love and fertility, she also has a very big area of charm influence she does not control
99% the culties are people who had a lot of bad shit happen to them in their previous life and for the most part chose to join this as a chance to have a do-over on a blank slate (this is mostly dm's work) and the bodies they come back into are ever so slightly off. nosith is completely colorblind, anemone is so flimsy her skeleton is floating in her body... i try to suggest traits to the dm that'd come from the fish each is based off of
they also all suffer amnesia from their previous life. each experiences life uniquely from other culties and yet for the most part they're a big family that does their best to thrive. ofc they have some creepier more culty members (nosith & thesisa) but for the most part they mind their business

So what's the deal with those dudes who think they're attaining an ideal of manly manhoodliness from like a borderline to overt white male supremacy angle but they're also positive that looking at naughty pictures or masturbating will poison and devolve them like a scared Victorian era church boy. Wtf is that. Is that part of that Trad Life thing.

Women wanting to live simple more traditional lives aren't "neo nazis"
You are being pretty racist erasing the women of color in trad communities. And so you know most of us are more than cool with churning our own butter.
Dont project your own laziness or your racial prejudice onto others .
Wow. Way to pick and choose words from my reply because you know I was right, but sure. I’ll humor you.
You’re right, wanting to have a traditional life isn’t inherently nazi-ish, but a lot of trad wives are also nazis, and if you’re ok with that and in communities with them, then you’re a nazi too. And every single one of them, even the WOC, who use the term “homestead” are being racist when they do so! The vast majority of trad wives are white (and I’m betting you are too) and to pretend otherwise is deceitful as hell. I’m not “projecting racial prejudice” onto the white women I’m talking about, I’m literally a white afab you idiot. Also, to mention WOC in passing like that as a “gotcha” to try to make me feel bad is tokenism, so good job and being racist while you’re claiming you’re not.
“Most of us are more than cool with churning our own butter” ok well then clearly I wasn’t talking about you, and if someone isn’t and they’re still saying “homestead,” which I’m sure applies to a lot of people, then my point still stands. I also said “taking a covered wagon out to some plot of land to “claim” as your own, fetishizing and killing indigenous people, dying from polio on the way, and having 15 kids because you don’t know how many of them will survive.” Are you cool with that? Because that was literally my point from the beginning.
Also, if we’re playing the “pretty __ of you-” game, it’s pretty ableist of you to call me lazy when I have chronic pain that would prevent me from churning butter, but go off I guess.

I feel like I need to start talking more about how one of the big things that Duck Prints Press does is open the door to people who could never even get a foot in with traditional publishing or even most medium/"small" presses (we're a small press, but we're really more of a micro-press, I see places calling themselves small presses that are fucktons bigger than we are).
I've got some anecdotal evidence that people avoid the publications of Presses like this one because they think our writing and editing standards are lower - that we're the people who failed to make it in bigger presses because we weren't good enough - and that, consciously and unconsciously, gatekeeping biases on who is and isn't qualified to write lead people to support small presses less than they might support a more established organization.
So...y'all realize that there are a lot of reasons people wouldn't pursue working with trad pub, right? and I don't even mean ethical doubts, and I don't even mean "trad pub doesn't want to publish certain kinds of stories," though those are definitely factors - we're able to give more space to play with themes and genres because we don't focus solely on "is this marketable" as a sales rubric.
But that's not what I consider the biggest difference.
Hi, I'm Claire, and I own Duck Prints Press, and I have a massive history of clinical depression, including being suicidal in the past. I'm a great writer, and I'm not just tooting my own horn, I've got almost 150,000 kudos on AO3 that suggest that just maybe, I know wtf I'm doing stringing words into sentences. I don't need a big press to tell me I'm competent, I already know that. What I do need is to not end up suicidal again. If I face the gauntlet of rejections that's supposedly "required" as part of gatekeeping trad pub, it will do severe damage to my mental health, and probably destroy my ability to write as depression-induced self-deception eats through what I know to be true.
THAT'S what's different about a micropress like ours. Yes, our founding vision was to work with fans, but the vast majority of the people who work with us have mental illnesses, physical disabilities, neurodivergence issues, and/or other "meatsuits are terrible actually" issues that strict publishing environments can't or, really, won't accommodate. We say "fuck that noise" and go out of our way to accommodate people, granting extensions and ensuring everyone can work on their own schedule. We're able to be very flexible, which means we bring in a lot of people whose incredible skills are overlooked, ignored, looked down on, kept out of, more mainstream publishing options.
If someone has trouble with deadlines? We still work with them.
If someone has an illness that flares irregularly and unpredictably? We still work with them.
If someone needs frequent reminders? We still work with them.
If someone works slowly because they can only do a little at a time? We still work with them.
If someone needs extra time, additional support, special software...we have thus far been able to accommodate literally everyone who has come to us.
As long as the creators who work with us keep communicating and keep showing at least a little progress, we will find a way to make things work, because we want to be as inclusive as possible, and because we know that most people with these challenges, no matter how good they are at writing or art or whatever it is they do with us, would face many more hardships to have these opportunities with a larger, more strict organization.
Just, every time I see indications that people think we're "less" because we're not HarperCollins or Penguin or Tor or something, I get so angry, because it shows so little understanding of how gatekeepy and especially how ableist trad pub is, and I wish more of the people who are thinking things like that would recognize that their behavior is, essentially, snobbery.
And to be clear I'm not saying "people with these challenges never get trad pubbed," that's clearly ridiculous and untrue, but I am saying, people with these challenges shouldn't have to be The Most Exceptional just to have a chance, and we deserve to have a place that will accommodate us instead of having to perform health, perform neurotypicalness, etc. just to succeed. We deserve to not have one flare-up potentially ruin our careers, and we deserve the same opportunities and respect as people who choose other directions.
Between trad pub, small press, and self-publishing, no one route is inherently "superior." Backing one over another doesn't guarantee you're only going to get good stories, or good editing. Trad pub publishes utter schlock sometimes, and self-publishing is fantastic sometimes, and some small presses do have lax standards, and some small presses are exceptional, and I feel like maybe people just really don't understand why places like Duck Prints Press try to exist - it's because we're trying to create spaces that meet us where we are, instead of focusing on rigid conformity, marketability, hard rules, etc.
The only way we'll get a diversity of voices in publishing is by supporting a diversity of publishers. The only way we'll be able to make space for everyone is by supporting the places that carve out new spaces to fit those who didn't fit elsewhere.
I wish more people would understand what we do and why we're here, and that folks would at least try our publications before assuming that we're "like big press but worse at writing/arting/editing."
Idk. I'm just tired, and sick, and still working even tho I'm sick, and frustrated with how hard it is to get anywhere, so here, have a rant I probably shouldn't post.
(this post brought to you by me seeing Chuck Tingle - entirely reasonably, to be clear, Chuck Tingle is awesome and I support him entirely! - celebrating the Camp Damascus release to thousands of notes, and Tor posting a poll about some Locked Tomb short story and getting 1300+ votes, and how I have to claw our way out of the background tumblr noise to get 100+ notes even on our biggest releases)

Alastor's Time Alive + Deal Theory
You know why it’s important to know who Alastor’s victims were?
Because it’ll explain A LOT.
If Alastor was just another run of the mill serial killer, he probably killed for the thrill coupled with ego, trauma, and untreated psychological issues. His victims either had no connection, or they had a hyper specific trait but they were innocent people. Think Joker.
HOWEVER, let's say Alastor killed not so great people. Rapists, abusers, violent people, etc. I’m imagining a vigilante taking the law into their own hands. Alastor gets a thrill of living the double life while also feeling power over taking out shitty people. This would make sense given what we already see from him in the show. To our knowledge he doesn’t go after lesser sinners unless they cross him, he takes out big overlords, and anyone’s soul he has tied to him doesn't seem physically tethered to him. The souls he has (Husk, Nifty?) appear to live their lives until Alastor calls on them. This is much more humane (for hell) compared to certain overlords we’ve seen (*cough*Valentino*cough*).
So what? Alive Alastor (possibly) kills shitty people, gets a thrill from getting away with it and the power trip, he dies because he was sloppy with one of the bodies, and seems to be continuing his hunt for power and dominance in hell. Why does this change anything?
Because that would make him complex. Instead of just being this serial killer, he’s a serial killer with a vigilante complex and some sort of moral code.
And him being complex could point to who his deal is with and what his deal could be related to.
When Alastor is freaking out, he mentions “Once I figure out how to unclip my wings.” I don’t think this is alluding to Alastor being an angel (saint? Since he’s human idk if it's an angel), but it might allude to Alastor having a deal with an angel. But who? Haven’t we met all possible angels? Not necessarily.
Where’s Eve?
You’re telling me that the woman who ate the apple, a pretty significant part in bringing evil to earth, Adam’s second wife, is NOWHERE TO BE SEEN??? Yeah, no.
Adam and Eve are probably estranged, given Adam seems very interested in every other woman except Eve. I’m wondering if Eve would take the role of a 50s trad wife? I think the guilt and shame Lucifer has for being a fallen angel and his hand in bringing evil to the world could be mirrored in Eve, where she tries her best to be the perfect wife, perfect woman, to repent for her mistakes. She’s allowed in Heaven because she begs for forgiveness.
When the first extermination happens, she probably went down to Hell with Adam, to see what her actions resulted in. She gets to Hell and is shocked with what she sees. She sees sinners, but she also sees how complicated sinners are. They have families, there’s children down here, some sinners are trying to protect their loved ones from the extermination, fearful for their lives. She can’t unsee the human in the sinners.
And then she runs into Alastor, who just so happened to take a stroll to see where all these angels are coming from and wtf is going on??? Eve sees Alastor and she just has this gut feeling about him. A killer sure, but he was as complex as any of the other sinners down here.
So she goes up to him.
She talks with him and thinks that his actions were brutal, but he wasn’t killing anyone who’d be missed. He had a very specific moral code, with twisted execution, and probably grew up in a traumatizing environment. She sees how powerful he is and, while standing in the middle of blood and carnage, she makes a deal with him. She’ll give him some of her angelic powers under the condition that he will be her Hell diplomat, making sure Hell isn’t screwed over completely by Heaven. I feel like Eve would have a soft spot for Hell and its sinners and would feel bad that she got to go to Heaven, even with her sin, while the rest rot in Hell. Alastor 100% agrees because hell yeah more power. Eve’s first order is for Alastor to go down to Earth and make sure there are still sinners coming into Hell, even with the extermination happening.
So that’s what he does. He’s on Earth making sure souls come to hell for 7 years. Which would make sense of why Alastor knows modern slang in Stayed Gone. Granted he could have heard it in Hell, but he hasn't been in hell for the past 7 years, so how tf would his great depression ass know what a podcast is? I think Heaven would hear the news about Charlie’s hotel (They know about Angel Dust, they’re somewhat aware of the goings on in Hell) but because they thought it was a fruitless plan they didn’t really care, except for Eve. Eve eventually hears about Charlie’s idea and immediately wants to help her, sending Alastor back to hell to keep an eye on her and her hotel. Cue season 1.
This would make sense of why Alastor thought he could take on Adam without angelic weapons. He was already given some angelic powers, surely he’d be strong enough to hold his own! Until he gets his ass handed to him. Cue freak out.
I think the correlation between Lilith and Alastor both disappearing 7 years ago is just a coincidence, I think Lilith’s deal with Adam is separate from Alastor’s deal with Eve. I have other thoughts on Lilith and Adam’s deal but that’s for another post lol.
And I'm also operating under the impression that the exterminations have been going on for 7 years and not longer, but again that's another post.
I’d love to hear other theories! I’m still on the fence on Eve's motivations, and also her relationship to Lucifer? Like were they actually- uh… bow chika wow wow-ing??? What would that mean for Lucifer and Lilith’s relationship? Is Eve a jealous ex trying to get into the royal hell family??? That would mess up the story we’re told in the beginning, though I doubt the book was written with truth at the forefront (possibly propaganda). Honestly I’m buzzing with theories🤯

I’m pro life but I made the mistake of reading the pro life sub reddit and I’m convinced that these men are just incels. One post I saw had a man fully say confidently that we should just kill women because of false rape allegations and no fault divorce laws. Then try to spin that as a pro life message? Wtf? I really really hope people aren’t going to read that sub and believe all of us are like that. I mean, I typically ignore or block men in this movement because this is a women’s issue but still. I think incels are trying to hijack it and religious spaces too. I see the worst things about women from incels in the Christian subreddits too
I always said that scrote being so extra about false rape allegations and trying to reinforce ridiculously harsh sanctions to women making false rape allegations was an indirect admission of guilt. Because, if it was about justice, why don't they have the same energy against other false accusations when it comes to homicide, harassment, etc ?
They focus on rape solely because deep down they do know that rape incriminates men as the main culprit. Men represent 95-99% of rape perpetuators. And it makes them lose their damn mind whenever women remind them this fact. I know this firsthand bc as few weeks ago I made a TikTok pulling out rape stats in my country and how they were championed at 95% by men. It started to get kinda viral, and got a consistent flock of scrotes coming out of the woodwork pulling out the most ludicrous excuses to delegitimize thoses stats (mind you, they were from the INSEE which is a STATE FUNDED statistic agency - so a very reliable source), or deflect the discourse on immigration (as if most illegals committing crimes weren't MALES too 🤡). I had to eventually turn off the comments so much this was overwhelming (and annoying bc arguing with liars & delulu is extremely frustrating).
Men are extremely in denial when it comes to accountability so they will make all bunch excuses to redirect the responsibility somewhere else. Such as women making false rape accusations. Or pushing that psychological war on women that is enforcing ridiculous policies against false rape allegations. The end goal is always to silence women.
And yeah, I'd advise any pro life woman to avoid sharing spaces with men when it comes to discuss sensitive topics such as abortion, fertility, (sexual) abuse, etc. Those space are heavily invaded by incels, Christo fascists, trad degenerates, etc because 1) they allow them to mingle with women/pickme 2) shit on the "bad" type of women (liberal, pro choice) but with the moral excuse of "protecting children uwu".
I'm personally extremely suspicious of pro life male online activists because they in the most case have a deep seated misogyny they try to hide behind a mask of benevolence, but it always ends up slipping (calling abortive or non married sexually active women "whores"... while never having the same energy to shame the men with the same behavior).
The good thing is that Christian culture protects female only space so I'd encourage you to look into them instead

todays events
first we went to an art musuem, which would be exciting buttt it actually wasn’t that good. i wasn’t told that we were going to the area so i dressed trad goth which got me called a “lesbian slut” by two college aged guys which like.. wtf ?? also during this time i wasn’t speaking but i was with my family who were talking and also people in this area r veryy like talkative ?? ig so that just led to a lot of just uncomfortable interactions bcs like my mom just started talking to them like for me (and like not in a helpful way, like in a way were she was just Deciding how i feel abt stuff and going abt telling ppl it despite her having no way of knowing ?? which like isn’t anything new but i still hate it everytime like. i think i am very good at masking, generally people can’t tell that i’m autistic, but obviously i’m not able to be like that 24/7 so there r times where it is just like obvious and this was one of them and as. soon. as that happens my mom just starts treating me like some sort of pet and that makes it clear to everyone else that they should do that too ?? and like again it’s not like she was talking for me to like be helpful at all she was just talking For me). anyways also during that same museum visit it was weird people were like talking to me and for like a solid fifteen minutes or so i genuinely could not decipher a word anyone was saying like yk when u head that someone talked but it doesn’t sound like words for a few seconds so u ask what and then ur like ohhh wait ik what u mean ?? well it was like that sort of i hesr u talking but just akdixyjsdocushccyyhsixizjdhdj and not words except my brain never deciphered it and it went on for quite a while and it was reallyyy inconvenient.
but then we went to another art museum in like the one cool part of town and it was sooo cool. it had like artist studios and it wasn’t quite like a typical style but it had so much cool shit. it had some super cool modern art that my mom then started like loudly hating on for a weirdly long amount of time (this mildly annoyed me bcs i loved it but i wasn’t abt to say anything to her abt it so). anyways that was great
then we around some shops to get lunch but my mom got really upset and started yelling ittt kind of sucked but wtvrr. then she let me walk around alone for a while(thank god) and there’s this place i found that had sm cool like outdoor art like i wanted to stay there foreverrrrr
after that we stopped by the grocery store bcs my aunt needed to get more while we were out and i got a lot of stares bcs we were back in the icky part of town. but while we were there i found this like bright pink snake thing and i got like mesmerized with it for a few minutes before i realized i had lost my mom and brother but then i found them anddd then we went back to my aunts house
