this isn't anything groundbreaking but i do yearn when i see old photos and footage of organizers in the us from the last century... yearn to see what it looked like back where my parents come from, even if i am so removed from the cultural and historical contexts today...

i was talking with my barber about their experience at the same lesbian bar in hong kong we both went to!! a year apart! and i got emotional while they buzzed my head the way i do every time i think abt how emotional i got being at the bar on karaoke night in a bar full of older chinese lesbians singing and swaying and drinking. like they said, it was the same, but also, it was different and familiar all at once? and also foreign ofc... and i know this is nothing new at all...

but i really almost cried bc i am a lightweight and ordered way too much to drink out of a desire to give money despite the language barrier bc i was like. wow. when am i ever going to be in a room like this again. a room where the majority of people in here are older asian lesbians just chilling in the only primarily lesbian bar in hong kong and they're having fun and being silly and singing ballads... i felt like i saw my own self in my lesbianism more completely than ever before and like i was tied to the most concrete idea of a future i had at the time ; -;

anyway that was just smtg i was thinking while queuing things and i'm full of caffeine induced anxiety... i tried to dig a little and i did find mention of a 2015 documentary about some early lesbian organizing in china :0 but now i can't find it anywhere and i'm back to feeling a bit defeated B') but maybe i leave a note to myself for the future... maybe i'll find it one day or find someone to ask about it...

Because there's that I in there, which is a set (not a variable that might represent a set, a specific set) and that specifies the domain of the function. And you need that because lambda terms don't have domains, but set theory functions do.

But you don't have codmains, and that makes sense, because codomains are slightly more, uh, "derived" than domains. They're less necessary, or something. But you still do need a codomain to fully specify the information of morphism in Set, right, like that's fundamental.

So I think there should be some notation like α _X\mapsto_Y φ, or maybe α \mapsto_Y^X φ, for X, Y sets, α a variable, and φ a term. And it means "the function from X to Y given by α \mapsto φ". That would be useful. I often see things where it feels like people are trying to come up with something ad hoc to fill this role, or somehow work around not having it, and that's inconvenient and can lead to confusing notational choices. People should do this instead. Until then, (φ)_{α\in I} is sort of the best notation for functions set theory has.

Honey, I'm sorry to say this but Numbers don't mean shit anymore. They really don't, especially in Kpop because some of those huge names (yes, I'm talking about BTS and BP too boohoo) could burp into a mic for three minutes straight and fans would STILL eat it up and mass stream it.

Let me make it more down to earth and realistic, however, since some people don't seem to get my sarcastic packaged words and jump to calling me an anti instead.

What are views, sales and streaming numbers SUPPOSED to represent? Technically, it's supposed to represent the popularity of a certain piece of content, no matter if video, sound or written. However, with the mass streaming, all of this is thrown out the window, because dedicated mass streamers and number chasers as I like to call them, will often use MULTIPLE devices and accounts to stream over multiple DAYS. That is not an accurate representation of how much they would've streamed it at all.

Another even simpler example.

Person A and B both publish a book each. While Author A's Book is advertised normally and bought normally, person B gets let's say their parents to buy as many copies as they can. Author A reaches about one thousand sales for their book, every sale one person each, while Author B's family threw all funds together to buy two thousand books, father and mother buying one thousand each, but no one else buys a book. Now tell me-

Who's more successful here?

It's really at this point only a dick measuring contest amongst fans to be able to tell other fandoms how much of a 'flop' the other group is because their MV didnt get a gazillion views. It's pointless, and that's my reason for not participating in it.

I stream when I actively listen/watch the content. Over and done.
