Souyo with the Personas conspiring to get the idiots together.
Sorry it's been a hot second since I've done any of these - I got disproportionally distracted playing Persona 2 lmao.
This probably isn't exactly what you were envisioning when you asked for this, but it's kind of what came out with the idea. It was slightly strange for me to write because I don't usually think of Personas as actually talking to their users, but, it was kind of interesting to think about that.
Yu grit his teeth, dodging out of the way of a shadow’s attack. His eyes flickered to Yosuke as he jumped into the air, summoning Susano-o.
Oh, don’t think I didn’t see where you were looking.
He tried to ignore the voice inside his head, instead slicing at the shadow with his katana, managing to get a hit in.
Hey, stop ignoring me!
He let out a small sigh. Ishtar. He was using her for her amazing healing skills and also for her strong electric attacks, but she was starting to wear him down. She kept trying to get him to flirt with Yosuke - something that he absolutely could not do.
I know what you want to do with him. You don’t have to be embarrassed about it.
It had been like this all day. Maybe he should just let Yukiko take over on healing. He could use another Persona for electricity. Izanagi might be a good choice.
That was right, he still had Izanagi. There would be no talking about Yosuke with him. Besides, in the stories, Susano-o was Izanagi’s son, who he had banished. There was no way that he would look at him super favorably.
He closed his eyes, switching over to Izanagi.
She will not like that.
He answered the Persona in his mind.
I couldn’t focus on the fight with her talking.
Very well. Although, I do believe she has a point.
What do you mean 'she has a point'?
I mean that you are always looking at him and wishing you could do more.
That's-
I exist within your mind. It is pointless to try and hide things from me.
"Hey, Partner, you all right?"
Yu blinked. Yosuke was standing in front of him, staring at him, his eyebrows furrowed.
He looked around. The fight was over. Apparently he had been too distracted to notice.
"Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry."
"All right. Where to next then?"
"Let's keep going for a little bit longer."
This was just a training trip, but he wanted to get a little bit further before heading home.
Izanagi was quiet for the rest of the time there, fully letting him concentrate on what was going on around him.
He had to switch back to Ishtar near the end in order to use her healing skills, but she didn't say anything.
After a while, they finished up for the day and parted ways. He headed home after that. He was always tired after spending an afternoon in the TV World.
He had some homework to get done, so after dinner he headed up to his room to work on it.
They were reading a book in English. Luckily, his reading comprehension skills weren't that bad, so he was getting through it okay.
Suddenly, his phone started ringing. There was really only one person who would be calling him at this hour. He answered it, putting it up to his ear.
That was fast.
He ignored her.
"Hey, Partner, what does 'cacophonous' mean?"
"It describes a loud or unpleasant sound."
"Ah, thanks."
Why's he calling you instead of just looking it up himself, huh?
He rubbed his forehead, suppressing a groan.
“So, what are you doing right now?” Yosuke asked.
“The same thing as you, I assume.”
Yosuke sighed. “Why does English have to be so hard?”
A smile tugged at his lips. “I don’t know. Probably because it’s a whole different language.”
“When am I ever gonna need to speak it?”
“It would be useful if you ever decide to go on a vacation somewhere. A lot of people speak it.”
“I guess.”
“Besides, don’t you listen to music in English all the time?”
“I mean, yeah, but I don’t need to understand the words to like the song.”
Yu hummed. “It does make your pronunciation really good.” That was definitely true. He probably had some of the best pronunciation in the whole class whenever they practiced English words.
He stuttered. “I- uh- thanks.”
He hummed again.
“So, what are you doing after this?”
“Reading the book? I’m not sure. I might just go to bed.”
“Yeah, I guess it was pretty exhausting in the TV World today.”
“Isn’t it always?”
“I mean, yeah. You seemed kind of distracted though. Are you feeling all right?”
He silently cursed. He had been distracted because he had been focusing on a conversation about Yosuke. He couldn’t tell him what that conversation had been about either.
“Oh, yeah. Do you ever just end up having a conversation with your Persona?”
Yosuke hummed. “Sometimes.”
“It was just that.”
He paused for a few seconds. “What were you talking about?”
He really wished that he hadn’t just asked that. “It was just Ishtar being annoying.”
Hey! Don’t talk about me like I’m not here.
“Oh, really? That’s the one you use for healing, right?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s one of the ones that looks the most normal.”
“I guess.”
“She’s just a really hot lady.”
Inside his mind, Ishtar giggled.
“She liked that.”
“She’s listening?”
“She has been the whole time.”
Tell him that he’s cute.
He rolled his eyes. “She says that you’re cute.”
The sharp breath that he took was audible through the phone. “I… um… thank you.”
Too bad I can’t play with him. That’s for you to do.
I can’t.
She sang the next part. Yu and Yosuke, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.
He groaned. “Stop saying things like that.”
“Huh? Stop saying what?”
His eyes widened. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to say that out loud.”
“Ah, having secret conversations then?”
“I guess so.”
“What is she saying to you?”
“She’s just teasing me.”
“About what?”
“Uh… things.”
“What things?”
“Just things.”
“You’re dodging the question.”
“What if I am?”
“Yuuuuu, come on. I want to know what has you all embarrassed.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Do you have a crush or something?”
He hesitated. He couldn’t tell him. “...no.”
“Oh my god, you totally do. On who?”
“No one.”
“Come on, tell me.”
“I don’t have a crush.”
He hummed consideringly. “I’d bet it’s someone on the Investigation Team. You already told me you weren’t interested in Chie or Yukiko, so that leaves Rise or Naoto. So, which one is it?”
“Neither of them.”
“You’re lying.”
“I’m not.”
Just tell him. He’ll be fine with it.
“He won’t.” He immediately realized his mistake, letting out a long groan. He needed to stop saying things out loud.
“Me? I won’t what?”
He sighed. He had to say something now. “You won’t be happy about it.”
“Why wouldn’t I be happy?”
“You just wouldn’t be.”
“Why not?”
He bit his lip.
“Partner, I care about you and I want you to be happy. I’m not gonna be upset no matter what you tell me.”
Tell him. Tell him. Tell him.
She was chanting that in his mind.
He took a breath, doing what he should have done a while ago, and switching back over to Izanagi. He didn’t speak, but there was a feeling in the back of his mind like he agreed, albeit less vocally, about what Ishtar had been saying.
“Partner?”
“You.”
He took a sharp breath, bracing himself for the all but guaranteed disgust that was going to come next.
“Me? What about me?”
He suppressed a groan. Had he really not understood what he was saying? He wasn’t sure that he wanted to explain it to him.
“I think I should get back to homework.”
“What? Yu-”
“Good night.” He hung up the call, setting his phone down on the far side of his desk.
Was Yosuke going to figure out what he had meant? Was he even going to talk to him tomorrow? What would he do if that happened? He hadn’t just messed everything up, had he?
All of a sudden, his phone started ringing. That had to be Yosuke again, right?
He stared at it until it finally stopped ringing.
After a few seconds, it started again.
He hesitated. He wasn’t sure that he could handle talking with him again right then.
He picked up the phone and set it to silent, laying it back down.
He tried to turn his attention back to the book, but his mind kept wandering to Yosuke and all of the anxieties and uncertainties surrounding him and what he had just said.
It was about fifteen minutes after he had ended the phone call, when, he got startled by the sound of something hitting his bedroom window. He had a bad feeling as he stood up, walking over, and looking out.
Yosuke was standing down there, a wholly concerned expression on his face as he stared up.
Yu steeled himself, then opened the window.
“What are you doing here?” He kept his voice as low as possible.”
“Someone wasn’t answering their phone.”
“I…”
“Come down.”
He hesitated. He knew Yosuke well enough to know that he wasn’t going to stand down. He needed to go out, otherwise he would stand there all night. “All right. Fine.”
He closed the window, heading out of his room, and down the stairs. He was careful to keep as quiet as possible as he went, not wanting to wake up his uncle or Nanako. He walked to the door leading out to the backyard and slid it open, stepping outside.
Yosuke met him quickly, sitting down on the edge of the porch, grabbing his hand, and pulling him down as well.
“You didn’t have to come all the way here.”
Yosuke gave him a look that said that he was blatantly wrong. “Yes, I did. I asked you who you had a crush on and then you said… you said me.”
Yu winced. So he had figured it out. “Sorry.”
Yosuke looked slightly conflicted, staring down at his legs, before laying an arm around his shoulders, pulling him against him. “Don’t apologize.”
Yu’s heart was pounding. There was absolutely no way he couldn’t hear that.
“I… uh… why aren’t you freaking out right now?”
Yosuke let out a small laugh. “Oh, believe me. I spent the whole walk over here freaking out, but… I don’t know. It just didn’t really feel bad to hear you say that you have a crush on me.”
“Then… you’re fine with the fact that I like guys?”
“I mean, you’re still you, aren’t you? You’re still my best friend and I still do care about you - a lot.”
Somehow this was going okay. Somehow he wasn’t freaking out. Somehow he was fine with this.
“And you’re fine that I like you?”
“I… uh… I don’t know how exactly I feel about it. It’s definitely not bad though. Maybe… actually kind of happy?”
“Happy?”
“Well, yeah, you’re such an amazing guy. I don’t know why you’d have a crush on me of all people.”
Yu frowned. “I don’t know where you’re getting that you’re not amazing either. You’re kind and caring and compassionate and hard working and loyal and just such a good friend. And I…” Had that been weird to say?
Yosuke hesitated. “Thank you for saying that.”
“It’s true.”
He squeezed him a little tighter against him. “Maybe I just… kind of… I might have a crush too.”
“On who?”
He took a deep breath. “You.”
His stomach was fluttering, his whole body feeling so light. “Me?”
“Yeah, you.”
This wasn’t a dream, was it?
“Partner, I… uh… you…” He let out a frustrated sounding noise. “You say all those nice things about me and I can’t even get out one single sentence? But, yeah, I’m pretty sure that I like you in the same way you like me.”
Yu turned his head, burying his face into his shoulder. He wanted to be this close to him forever.
“Hey, Yosuke?”
“Hmm?”
“Can we just stay like this for a little while then?”
“Of course.”
From somewhere deep within his subconscious, there was a feeling. A smug sentiment. The sentiment of ‘I told you so.’
He’d have to apologize to Ishtar at some point.

Who are some of your favourite voice actors?
oh oh!!! a great question! (my answers are a bit basic tho so sorry in advance hehe)
in english:
billy kametz, may he rest in peace. his voice was so pleasant and he was so good with intense emotions
yuri lowenthal! (<- played ps4 spideman game and fell in love) (he made me like yosuke more than i probably would've otherwise) (a talented king)
robbie daymond. ofc. the range of that man is insane and i like when he voices little fucked up and evil guys :)
matt mercer. again insane range and a super pleasant voice to listen to!
laura bailey! once again such a pleasant voice omg. and she brings life to characters in such an awesome way
erica mendez. somehow she ends up voicing all my favorite characters i swear
^speaking of, lucien dodge. again a super nice voice that's just super pleasant to listen to
in japanese:
jun fukuyama! literally the most insane range I've ever heard, he never sounds the same and yet he's always recognizable, not to mention naturally very talented when it comes to emotions
takahiro sakurai. just a very solid actor! but also I'm biased, back in like 2016 kinblr there was this joke of always kinning characters played by the same actor, and he was that actor for me lol. however with time that changed to
miyano mamoru. that man is in everything it's kind of impossible not to enjoy his work (but also from watching interviews and such he seems like such a fun guy hehe)
miyu irino. cannot stress enough this man has THE nicest voice in the entire world. it's like listening to cotton candy idk how else to decribe it. also super talented with emotions!
yuuto uemura. i am once again biased bc he keeps voicing all my favs. but also his voice and style of acting instantly makes every character likable to me so it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation really.
hiroshi kamiya. i don't think i need to explain that one :P
bonus in hebrew: liron lev. a gay icon. voiced zuko and many others. his brother was friends with my mom. we love to see it

outside the restaurant, there is
like
what if yosuke hanamura never realized he was an asshole and just grew up into a fucking Super Asshole and full blown sexist and thought wearing rose-tinted glasses was cool
i wonder if the rose-tinted glasses are purposeful, that seems like a very specific design choice, but I have no idea if that cultural touchpoint would exist in Japan as well. I'm going to continue eyeing is suspiciously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bro, I think Haru exclusively reads horticultural books and horror novels. I don't think she is your target audience.
That said, this fucking move of getting down on a knee to proffer up a book is incredibly over the top and dramatique, what is with this guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
B R U H no. Haru will kill you. Don't do this. Trust me, I am doing you a solid, you don't wanna go through with this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is very kind of the boys though. Don't stand by while a dude pulls this shit.
That said, Haru could def kill this guy. I mean, it might be a tiny scandal for Okumura Foods but what else is new.
Tumblr media
aaaaand we found our new Monarch clearly.
Tumblr media
THE INSIDE OF THE CAMPER.... is kinda cute, I see what they meant about the 50s diner vibes, that's..... kind of really cute and frankly WAY better than what I imagine when I think of campers, which tends to be shitty faux-wood and bad linoleum or carpeting.
Futaba squeezing herself up onto the storage rack is really just a vibe too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's a light novelist, huh. I dunno how accurate it is, but I consider that a mix of manga and YA? Like, not necessarily written for younger audiences but written to be very digestible? And sometimes have interspersed illustrations? Good foundation for weird experimental shit but is very Genre.
Tumblr media
what the fuck don't touch fucking cosplayers /horror
Tumblr media
So there is tons of discussion and praise for Natsume online but it's all coming from Sendai.
Is he a local sensation? Like, there's already been ambient dialogue about people buying multiple copies of the book. How many of his million copies are the same people.... or is he going from city to city to spread the influence of his Jail?
HUH! Sidebar: If you have a Jail but you go to another location, does the Jail go with you or do you make another Jail? We've already established that once a Monarch is removed, the Jail remains in the Metaverse.
HMMMMM. That sounds like an interesting thread to pull but IDK if the game will play with it.
Tumblr media
are they really going to keep calling him Gramps, he doesn't even give old vibes like Sojiro
also he's a grown-ass man, it's rude to keep referring to him by a nickname like that! the audacity!
Tumblr media
are they serious
Tumblr media
hey yusuke have you considered therapy? not maruki but like actual therapy?
earlier before we left, i missed the cap, but Futaba was reminding Yusuke his snack budget was 500 yen and he was like "but my rock salt" and I continue to be, like, SO concerned about Yusuke Kitagawa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
REVERIE LITERALLY PUMPS HIS FIST AS HE REPLIES TO RYUJI, L M A O.
Sleep is great, I say as someone who is going to bed the moment I hit post on this blog entry.
Tumblr media
ANN FUCKING PUNCHES THE SIDE OF THE CAMPER AND TELLS THEM ALL okay ryuji bc ryuji was speaking in his normal volume which is outdoor voice for everyone else TO SHUT THE FUCK UP SO THEY CAN SLEEP.
Tumblr media
FINALLY i can look around Sendai without Morgana shooing me back to the camper to continue the plot. AT LAST.
but i got work tomorrow so i gotta sleep, alas.

Hi! Genuine curiosity, i havent played much P4, whats the problematic aspects of naoto's relationship?
Hey! I’ve posted about this before but I can’t find where I explained it in detail and I never tag my asks because I’m stupid. Warning this is gonna be a long post. Basically Naoto’s romance route makes you forcibly feminize her before she’s ready to express herself more femininely.
If you’ve only played P5 you may not know that in P3 and P4 you have to choose certain dialogue options, commonly called “relationship flags”, throughout the social link in order to be eligible to romance the character. In P5 all you have to do is say “I love you” in rank 9 and that’s it. Basically you just have to like drop hints that you are romantically interested in this character otherwise they will only see you as a friend.
One of Naoto’s relationship flags is “I’m glad you’re a girl” which is said immediately after she says “Why couldn’t I have been born male”. One of the other dialogue options here is “Your gender doesn’t matter” but if you pick that one you are locked out of her romance. This conversation also makes her visibly uncomfortable. Also, at rank 10 she tells you that she tends to make her voice lower but asks if you would like it higher so she can sound more feminine. You must pick the dialogue option “I like it higher” to unlock the next thing I’m about to talk about which is probably the worst part of her romance. Before I go on, notice how Naoto is constantly offering to change herself to be more feminine because she thinks it’s what Yu wants. Yu feeds into this during her romance and makes her think she has to do things like this to please him.
Naoto’s Christmas Eve date is probably the worst part. Basically she gets herself a female Yasogami uniform and wears it specifically for you. Afterwards you get a “fade to black” moment that’s actually a lot more explicit than the other girls. Here’s some pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice how all she ever says is that she’s doing this because Yu wants her to. She’s forcing herself to be more feminine to please her significant other which was physically painful for me to watch her character go through. Also not the basis for anything close to a healthy relationship even if they are just high schoolers.
The last thing I’ll talk about is more of Naoto forcing herself to be feminine for Yu’s sake. Keep in mind I know that in the epilogue Naoto chooses to dress more femininely and seems comfortable with it. However, this is several months after the end of the game which means that Naoto needed some time before she was ready and comfortable in her own body to dress more femininely. Your romance route forces her to be more feminine before she’s ready.
For context, whenever you put a female party member in certain outfits you will get two different sets of dialogue when talking to them. One dialogue if you romanced them, and one if you’re just friends. (If you romanced them and want to see the friend dialogue all you have to do is talk to them a second time.) I’ll let Naoto’s romance dialogue speak for itself:
Swimsuit:
Tumblr media
Battle Panties:
Tumblr media
As you can see she’s clearly uncomfortable but only wearing it because she thinks that’s what the protagonist wants to see her in. In her friendship dialogue it really shows how uncomfortable she is as she panics and threatens to arrest both Kanji and Yosuke when they comment on her outfit. Overall she’s not having a good time.
I didn’t want to make this super long but it ended up being like this. Anon this is nothing against you personally because you were super nice about it I just wanted to make one big post covering everything because I have a lot of people in my inbox asking me why I hate sounao. I hope this answered your question.
Thank you to DismArchus on YouTube for providing me with these videos so I could take screenshots. If you are a persona fan you should absolutely check him out he posts a LOT of content from persona 3 onwards including the spin-offs. Complete social links, special events, secret boss fights, you name it. Any scene you can think of that you want to watch real quick has probably been posted by him and he also has full playthroughs of all the games if I remember correctly.

A Mile in My Shoes: Chapter One
Tears gathered in the wide eyes of the little green skinned girl as her bottom lip quivered violently. She searched her friends' faces for a hint that they were joking but she was coming up blank.
"Why can't I come with you, Yuki? I'm your friend too, right?"
"We're gonna be inside today. You're too loud and wild. My mom gets mad at me every time you come over." the blue haired girl replied, rolling her eyes.
Hana took a step forward, clenching the stuffed orca in her arms tightly "I'll do better this time! I'll -."
"You always say that! Just go home, Hana. You'll just get in the way."
The other two girls began laughing as Hana's tears poured down faster and she ran off in shame. Her scrawny legs carried her as far as they could to her apartment. As the door swung open, it collided with the wall heatedly which drew her mother’s attention from the kitchen. Hina sighed deeply as her oldest child looked up from his phone with a biting glare.
“If that little shit doesn’t quit making my baby sis cry, I’m gonna -!”
“Stand down. I got this. You just keep my soup from burning.” his mother instructed before going into the living room to find her only daughter curled up on the couch.
“Why am I so annoying?” Hana whimpered into her knee as she trembled under Hina’s loving touch.
“Says who? Yuki Watanabe? That kid is a spoiled brat. Her mommy and daddy can buy her anything but some damn manners.”
“No one at school likes me because I’m so hyper. I try to keep in it but I can’t.”
“And you shouldn’t have to! You’re hilarious, Jellybean! You’re so much fun. You keep me and your brother rolling with laughter. We won’t change anything.”
Hana stayed curled up in her dejected ball until Hina laughed softly. She looked up a little at her mother to see that she was looking at the television. They rarely watched the news but it must have come on while they were cooking. A rescue was going on the screen with a hero she’d never seen before. With his orca features and large frame, he quickly got the attention of little Hana who was wiping the last few tears from her eyes.
“Who’s that hero, Mama?”
“His name’s Gang Orca. I figured you’d like him because you’ve always been into weird stuff.” Yosuke replied from behind the couch.
Hina scoffed as she looked back, “You let my soup burn and I’m tossing you into it, little troll.”
“Cool your jets. I turned it down.”
“That’s what I want to do when I grow up!” Hana exclaimed unexpectedly as she got to her feet.
“What, burn soup? You’re already good at that, JB.” Yosuke teased.
“Huh? No! I meant what he’s doing on T.V! I wanna do that!”
“You want to be a pro hero?” Hina asked, sitting forward with her hands on her cheeks. “Well, you'd be super interesting to watch, that’s for sure.”
“Seriously? Hana, a hero? She’s too goofy. She’s not cut out for -. What am I worrying for? You change your mind every five minutes. You wanted to be an astronaut two days ago.” Yosuke grumbled as he returned to the kitchen.
“Don’t listen to your brother, Sunlight. He’s just mad that his grades aren’t good enough to get into U.A’s support class program.”
“Can’t hear you over the sound of me throwing this soup into the yard!”
“You brat, your laptop’ll follow it out there!” she screamed as she jumped over the back of the sofa to go save her food from her son’s bitterness.
Hana giggled softly as she turned her attention back to the news broadcast. Yeah, being a hero would be awesome. But heroes always had costumes and stuff, right? She pursed her lips for a second in thought before running down the hallway and getting her crayons. Who better than to design an outfit for her Quirk than her.
Time flies when you’re having fun and the hyper seven year old soon turned into a bouncy fifteen year old. To her brother’s astonishment, Hana’s hero dream never burned out like the others. Planning her campaign for president only lasted a week and it was one of the longest run schemes that she had. Despite thinking this was a dim-witted plan, he still determined to make sure that his rambunctious sibling didn’t repeat her bad habit of sleeping through her alarms.
“Hey, are you up yet?”
Hana, who was currently wrapped up in her fuzzy pink blanket, groaned loudly without making any movement. She was absolutely not planning on getting out of this criminally comfortable bed. The deep-toned but noticeably annoyed voice from the bottom of the stairs clearly disagreed with that plan.
"Some hero you are! You can’t even make it to school on time!"
That got a quick reaction as Hana popped up and promptly fell out of her bed with an undignified squawk. Once finally unraveling from her warm cocoon, she darted to the closet to get her clothes and found that her uniform had rudely fallen to the floor. As she dusted it off, she ran to the bathroom and hung it on the back of the door. She quickly brushed her teeth, ruffled her onyx pixie cut with her fingers for some texture, and put in her silver star earrings. She raked her long bang out of her face as she inspected her face for imperfections.
As she got herself presentable, the oldest Ishikawa child stuck two pieces of bread into the toaster before fastening up the Gang Orca lunch on the counter and putting in that ragged, ugly pink backpack with unicorns all over that his sister refused to replace for some reason. Surely, it should be qualified for retirement after all these years, right?
But Hana wasn't one to throw out much of anything. She was the textbook definition of a sentimental fool. Yosuke wasn't exactly sure where she had even picked up that habit but she was almost religious about keeping anything close to 'important'.
“Hana! Move it or lose it, runt!" he yelled again as he put some strawberry jam on the nearly burnt toast.
"Don't call me a runt, jerk face. I already told you that everyone else is just too tall!" she shouted from upstairs.
He heard something crash its way down the stairs with a loud bang and sighed deeply. "What was that?"
"My shirt!"
"That was way too damn heavy to be a damn shirt." he huffed back, looking at his phone.
As she came around the corner, she was hopping on one foot attempting to tie a glittery silver tennis shoe while standing. "Well, I was still wearing it."
He rolled his eyes before grabbing her leg mid-hop which nearly sent her to the floor. He put the sole of her shoe on his leg and started tying it for her. She wrinkled her nose in frustration, to which he replied with a thump to the forehead.
"You're gonna break your damn neck." he scolded.
"You worry too much. I'm tough enough to handle whatever life throws at me." she scoffed back proudly.
Yosuke looked at his younger sibling with overwhelming skepticism. At an unimpressive five feet tall, puberty had seemingly forgotten to visit the poor girl. She was thin as a rail and still had a baby face with a button nose and big sapphire eyes. All that paired with her narrow frame, small breasts, and a high pitched voice, no one ever believed she was actually her age.
"Whatever you say, kid." He sighed as he gave her the toast and held out her backpack.
She shoved a piece of her breakfast halfway into her mouth, slung her bag onto her shoulder, and headed to the door.
"What? No 'thank you'?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow at her.
"Toast could have been darker honestly." she said, shrugging lightly.
"You can't just eat charcoal, Jellybean."
She blushed slightly, pink lighting up her mint green skin. "I told you to quit calling me that!"
"But you're small, cute, and eat nothing but candy. You're our little jellybean and always will be. It's better than that shit you used to call me."
"And that's my cue to leave." She scoffed as she opened the door.
"Have fun today, JB. I gotta work late tonight so you'll be having way more fun than me." he called out as he waved to her.
"Yikes. Better you than me. Don't forget your wallet this time." she said, exiting the apartment.
"Got it. Love you, brat."
The door clicked but immediately swung back open so she could yell back "Love you too." before finally leaving.
She wasn't sure what she did to get such bad karma but she deeply regretted whatever it was because now she was sprinting to class as fast as she could. She had missed the first bus and had to wait for the second one, so she was even more late now. As she ran, she tried to finish putting the shoe that had fallen off when she tripped down the stairs a moment ago. Seriously, what was gravity's problem today?
She finally reached the door and straightened herself up before grabbing the knob. Opening the door to the classroom, she was greeted by the very unhappy face of her home room teacher.
“Morning, Mr. Aizawa.” she mumbled, ducking her head like an anxious pup.
“Nice of you to join us, Ishikawa.” he sighed deeply. "Now as I was saying, you'll be wearing the hero outfits based on the designs you submitted."
Hana immediately lit up and the second they could get their outfits, she pushed her way to the first and snatched the case with her seat number on it. As she ran off excitedly, Ashido looked at Tokoyami who was shaking his head slightly. He was her designated best friend since the first day of school so he usually ended up playing translator for the jittery girl.
"You'll have to forgive Ishikawa's impatience." He lamented. "From my understanding, she designed that outfit when she was a little girl and she's been talking about it all week."
"That's actually sort of adorable." Ashido tittered.
"I'm honestly curious to see what she’s created." Tokoyami replied, grabbing his own case and leaving the room.
As the upcoming heroes stepped out in their new costumes, Hana couldn't stop smiling and looking down. It was perfectly in line with her drawing.
The black one piece had a turtleneck and featured a cutout of a sun around her belly button. Squiggly cuts around it made the rays. The holes for her legs were cut high and displayed part of her hips. It laid her skinny shoulders bare and was visibly backless with only her backside covered. Her shoes were simple black ballet flats with a thick ribbon around either ankle. Her hands were covered up by a pair of yellow finger-less gloves. Finally, her eyes were protected by a square, yellow visor that faintly resembled work safety glasses. For added flair, she'd topped the outfit with a headband with a yellow over-sized bow that poked up like bunny ears.
Tumblr media
She glanced over at Midoriya and giggled as she waved her hand at him eagerly. "Hey, Deku! Look! We match!" She said, pointing from her bow to his suits 'ears'.
He blushed slightly and nodded. "Y-yeah, I guess we do, huh?"
If Bakugou’s crimson eyes could use his quirk, Ishikawa would have exploded three times by now. They were digging into the back of her head. Hana seemed to feel his eyes on her and looked over her shoulder to see him glaring at her unapologetically.
Ah, yes. Bakugou and his famous attitude. She'd managed to be at least on speaking terms with all her classmates. The exceptions were Todoroki who gave her the cold shoulder (pun absolutely intended) and the furious blonde. Every single time she got the least bit friendly with Bakugou, he’d buck like a wild stallion. What he didn't realize was that his bitterness only made it more fun for his ridiculously headstrong classmate. He'd made the mistake of making it a game and she wasn't about to lose.
"Like my outfit?” she asked, twirling around jubilantly.
He scoffed and looked away from her. The answer was… maybe? It was admittedly a cool design. She needed a lot of skin showing to make her Quirk work its best but something extremely revealing would have been out of character for her. She had figured out how to balance the modesty she needed with the design her power required on his own? That was kind of cool. She still looked like a little brat though. That was probably less about the outfit and more about that silly grin plastered on her face.
"Well, I love yours!" She said. "The grenades are super badass."
His eyes widened slightly as he looked back at her slightly. Why was she suddenly complimenting him? She usually spent the majority of her time teasing and provoking him. Their bickering sessions started from the first day at U.A. Bakugou was at his desk with his feet propped up as he insulted pretty much anything that moved when petite little Hana walked by.
As soon as she walked by, he noticed her stockings had cat faces on them. Naturally, he scoffed loudly. "When did they start letting little kids take classes here?"
She stopped mid-step and looked over her shoulder. "About the same time they started letting in annoying jackasses."
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, YOU SHRIMP?"
She spun around and slammed her hands on his desk as she tilted her head to the side. He raised an eyebrow at her. Was this girl actually going to try and pick a fight?
Never breaking eye contact, she smiled jeeringly as she replied, "Oh, I'm sorry. Let me say it a little louder for you. You're acting like a jackass."
"Keep running that mouth and I'll hang our tiny ass from the ceiling!"
"Sweetie, you'd have to catch me first." she scoffed, poking his nose playfully.
Midoriya, who was watching this train wreck from behind the wall, exhaled deeply. It was their first day and Kacchan was about to commit a felony. Sure enough, the blonde went off and threw around some interestingly detailed threats.
She stood there taking his insults with a genuinely amused look on her face until he took a step toward her. She closed her eyes as her body emitted a blinding yellowish white light. Bakugou covered his eyes and stumbled back a little.
"SHIT, WHAT THE HELL, YOU LITTLE -!"
"My name is Hana Ishikawa." she replied, calmly as if she didn't just flash-bang the entire class. "Nice to meet you. Don't worry, the burning stops after 30 seconds."
With that, she skipped to her seat and sat down. Midoriya watched cautiously as Bakugou rubbed his stringing eyes and growled loudly. From that moment forward, every time they made eye contact, someone usually got detention.
All Might was the teacher today and Hana couldn't stop laughing at just how electrified Midoriya was. She was pretty excited too, but she was always that way about something. She was the kind of person who sat by the mailbox when her package was out for delivery and cheered for the mailman when he showed up.
What really tickled her was how pumped up Bakugou got when the words 'combat training' came out of All Might's mouth. It got an actual giggle out of her.
"Ishikawa will be with Todoroki on team B."
"Yay! Dude, I'm so excited. I love your dad. He's my second favorite pro!" Hana shouted out loudly as she bounced up and down.
Todoroki immediately rolled his eyes at her joyful reaction. Why did he have to get stuck with the class crazy lady? It was going to be a long day.
The first teams up were "villains" Bakugou and Iida vs Midoriya and Uraraka. The other other students were watching from a secondary location on a big screen. Things were already off to a bad start because Bakugou clearly had no intention of listening or cooperating. Like now, for example, he'd run off to find Midoriya and 'deal' with him, despite Iida's blatant disapproval.
"Well, I see Baku is doing whatever Baku wants and I'm sure you're all as shocked as I am." Hana said with a sarcastic tone as she put another strawberry pocky stick in her mouth.
"What is he thinking?" Tokoyami asked, shaking his head. "He's being completely irrational."
"Honestly, Yami, I'm guessing there's not much really going on in that head of his." Hana replied.
On the screen, Bakugou found his prey and was currently doing everything in his power to stomp him into the dirt. Asui made a comment about him being a good villain which unexpectedly grabbed Hana's attention.
"Whoa, that's a little harsh, Froggy."
Bakugou had lost track of Midoriya who had run away for his safety. Even through a screen, his hatred was almost visible in the air.
"That doesn't seem villainous to you?" Todoroki asked, pointing at the screen where Bakugou was apparently screaming some heavy threats at Deku as he searched for him.
"Look, I'm not justifying it but there's clearly something going on there that we don't know."
"Like what?" he asked flatly.
"Heck, I don't know! I'm not a therapist. Everyone's got a demon or two in them though, right?" She replied quickly.
Tokoyami looked over at her slightly and noticed that her eyes were locked on the blonde with a look of what seemed to be growing curiosity.
"Gotta admire his determination though. Even if his cheese has completely slid off his cracker."
"I think you're being naïve." Todoroki said under his breath.
Her eyes suddenly widened as she looked over at him slightly. Her hands balled into fists slowly by her sides.
"I'm sorry? Did I ask for your opinion on my personality?"
"With one as spastic as yours, you should be used to it."
"Spastic?! Listen, I don't -!"
"You'll kill him!"
All Might's thunderous voice made her jump as her eyes shot back to the screen. They quickly widened as Bakugou's hand ripped the pin from his grenade gauntlet with wild abandon.
"Dude, what are you doing?" She asked under her breath.
"How about now, Ishikawa? Does murder count as 'villainous'?" Todoroki scoffed.
"Seriously, Baku? Pull yourself together." She whispered, mostly to herself.
Midoriya used his Quirk to destroy several floors at once and Bakugou looked as if he'd seen a ghost. No, that wasn't enough to describe the level of horror in those wide ruby eyes.
Hana didn't see that uncommon expression as she walked to the back of the room and pulled out another pocky stick. She munched on it as she let her forehead rest on the cold metal wall. The thought of everyone watching her mess up was making her stomach queasy.
"Is everything alright? You seem a bit bothered by what just happened." Tokoyami asked from behind him.
She sighed deeply and painted her smile on her face, but it didn't hold anything close to genuinely positive. "Nah, I'm okay. Just a little performance anxiety. That's all."
"Well, it's our turn so I would try to shake those nerves if I were you." Todoroki stated while walking by.
"Sure thing, Ace." She mumbled as she followed.
She wasn't entirely sure she could handle much more of Todoroki's bitterness today but for the sake of the assignment, she was willing to try. At least, she was before they actually got to the building.
"You stay here. You'll only get in the way."
Her heart started banging on her rib cage angrily as his words unlocked a door in the back of her mind. Once again, she was just a little eight year old on the playground with her feelings on her sleeve. No, no more. Never again. Her teeth grit painfully as she ran to catch up with Todoroki. She grabbed his arm but he quickly shrugged her off.
"What are you doing?" He asked as he looked back at her.
"Just because your dad is a pro doesn't mean that you get to talk down to me like that! I'm a big fan of your dad's but I'm not just going to let you -."
"Let's just focus on the assignment, alright?" He interrupted before continuing toward the building. "You and I aren't on the same level. It's for your benefit that you stay down here."
As he disappeared into the entrance, she growled under her breath. Get in the way? No, she worked like crazy to get here! Some little rich kid wasn't gonna tell her what to do. It was sunny today so her Quirk was working wonderfully. The more sunlight, the more useful she was.The others watched as she created a yoga ball sized orb in between her hands. She processed to climb on top of it as it floated up to the window. Hana had a tendency to whatever she wanted, especially when told not to do something. While that attitude could bring interesting results at times, it also meant that despite her friendly attitude, Hana's teamwork skills were completely terrible.
She attempted to jump to her target window but the ball slipped out from under her. She gasped loudly as she clung to the ledge forcefully.
"I swear if I fall, my ghost is gonna haunt you, Ace!"
"I can't watch! Tell me when she's made it." Uraraka said, covering her eyes with worry.
"I like her fearlessness but that cooperation could use some serious improvement." All Might mumbled as he watched her finally climb through the window.
Her target barely even had time to notice her before the floor froze solid. Ice raced up her legs only to stop mid calf. She stared at it for a moment with rage boiling ever faster in her veins.
"I told you to stay outside for a reason."
She was visibly shaking with anger but was breathing in deeply. Tears stung her eyes as she bent down to melt the ice from her legs
"Man, I won't ever want Ishikawa to look at me the way she's looking at Todoroki right now." Kaminari laughed under his breath.
"She's normally so laid back." Asui noted.
"She's probably feeling a little embarrassed. She went through all of that effort for nothing. That's a bit of an ego bruiser, don't you think?" Tokoyami said, looking at the currently fuming Hana.
Bakugou rolled his eyes but didn't say anything. His eyes wandered up to the screen and he noticed that as the ice melted off her legs, she crossed her arms and stormed out of the room. He was having a shitty day to say the least but for some reason, that little pouty march of shame of hers made him laugh.
Okay, maybe not laugh laugh. Just that thing where you blow air out of your nose kinda hard in amusement? She came back into the room and noticed him staring a little. Her left hand came to rest on her hip as she tilted her head to the side.
"Hey there, Baku. You feeling better after all that? I know I always feel bushy-tailed after a homicidal rampage." She said, playfully.
"You expect me to believe a little runt like you can go on a rampage?" He huffed, looking away. "What do you do? Throw your toys?"
"Oh, my wittle heart!" She laughed as she threw her arm over her face dramatically. "You're so cruel to me, dude."
"You're just a pansy, Sunspot." He huffed.
He noticed that lazy, amused grin slowly spread back over her pastel face like butter on warm toast. The second he took a breath to ask what that stupid look was about, she cut him off.
"Sunspot? Seriously?" She snorted playfully. "Oh, I get it! Because of my yellow freckles across my face, right? Dude, that's actually kinda cute."
"Whatever, loser." He growled back at her, sulking over the fact that she made an intended insult into a damn pet name.
She bounced away to go talk to Uraraka. Now that she thought about it, maybe today wasn't all bad.

As promised, here’s a little large compilation sort of thing of little moments and memories from SBFP that you folks have submitted. I really appreciate everything that you’ve all submitted, it’s pretty clear that SBFP helped and entertained a whole lot of people - in equal amounts.
Here’s some SBFP moments:
Grand Wizard Wakka
The Shitstorm VII Woolie haunting plan
“What a mysterious game.”
MY HOUSE
“Wait, what’s my objectives?” “You don’t haaave any objectives!”
Qui Gon Chi
“Whah happuh?” “das whah happuh!”
“No, shut up though.”
The Baby
“Shut the fuck up about Face/Off!”
“Bleetzboll...”
The Sadness Trilogy
“KIDS LOVE THE FOCKIN’ DEVIL!”
Pat thinking he’s dying because he sat on a chocolate bar
Kenpachi Ramasama
Shit-kids
“Whut deh fuhk? Is he using duh bät room?”
Mr. Shakedown/Kenny/Quint/Eric Sparrow
TAR-KUS! TAR-KUS! TAR-KUS!
“Love is just chemicals.”

“Hey, is that the script?”
“JAAASON!”
“It’s fine.”
The RE2 valve noise
“Yeyeyeye!”
Woolie’s atomic purple Gameboy
“Eyy, what’s goin’ on, man? You ready to play?”
And some SBFP memories. Some of these may be a bit emotionally heavy so feel free to skip this part:
the sbfp lp of yakuza 0 got me and my best friend into the yakuza series. we watched it together and we still laugh about matt falling to pieces over "never-before-seen results" - Anon
the best friends have had such an influence on my speech patterns that i've infected people who've never watched them before. half of my friend group says super big [x] and porked up now - Anon
SBFP introduced me to so many games that ended up becoming personal favorites of mine, like Deadly Premonition and the Silent Hill series. Their videos became a way for me to spend time with some of my own best friends as well! -  captainofthestars
theres one particular moment that will always resonate with me - in their devil may cry lets play, i cant remember if it was 1 or 3, they talk about someone in the comments who mentioned that they had to beat devil may cry with items due to having a physical disability of some kind, i cant remember which. they talked about how it was awesome that he managed to even beat the game like that, and, personally, as someone who struggles with motorskills issues this made me very happy, as a devil may cry fan. theres a lot of other great moments from the tbfp, both funny and genuine that made me happy, but this one in particular stuck with me a lot. -  krillfingers
I'll never stop making "pull out king" jokes thanks to sbfp - venerabledreadnought
I remember the first Shitstorm that made me actually have to get up and sit in a brightly lit room with other people in it, Anatomy. It's become a Halloween tradition to watch it every year since, though watching a whole bunch of Shitstorm also became one. As someone who started watching at their second machinma ep, it's not a lie to say that they made up the entirety of my teenage years. I will miss the channel dearly, but I look forward to the future. -  duke-nitro
My friends and I have been watching The Zaibatsu for so long that we have accidentally adopted a bunch of their phrases like going “yeahyeahyeahyeahyeah” or saying someone “go down.” Also, despite us not knowing each other when we became fans, we all somehow began with their Man vs Wild let’s play and I even made friends with one of them because I quoted something from it at work. Favorite moment probably has to be the entire Omikron playthrough, I can’t pick a single moment. It was a beautiful trainwreck start to finish and I still put on the playlist from time to time while I’m doing other things. I swear I could gently fall asleep to the sounds of Pat screaming about the shooter segments. shogun-ceanataur
Persona 4 and Kenpachi Ramasama were my favourite. I found the name itself hilarious, but how they kept on referring to him as the full name in different little bits and tones never failed to make me laugh. That “See you later, fuckers!” part from when you see Yosuke was also hilarious. I’m not sure if that video is the oeigin, but it’s why I’ve integrated that phrase into my everyday life. Goddamn what a fun, memorable episode. - whatthehellisthisevenfor
tbfp got me through being homeless in my car twice. every time that I wanted to give up, to just stop trying, i'd turn on whatever new video they had out and it brightened up my life. my mom, who was with me, came to love them to, she used to wait to hear them to relax. i have so many memories of that time, and i don't fully relax or even eat on long days until I've turned their videos on. my favorite quote is still "mistakes into miracles". its a rly motivating quote imo. -  c0l0c4k3s
I always loved the Silent Hill 2 LP. I never played it when it came out - all I knew was that it was a horror game, and I hated horror at the time. But when the LP came around, I knew a bit more about the game and I was intrigued. Seeing the game, meeting the characters, hearing Pat disect the story and themes for Matt, I loved it all. I was fascinated, and still am. I will still watch the LP every few months, and I call SH2 one of my favorite games, even though I still haven’t played it.Thanks, SBFP, for all the great moments and the great memories. I wish you all well. - iamthewanderingbard
The best friends are what got me so invested in the Dark souls games, and what motivated me to get through DS2. Even if I say 'You see what i mean' unironically a lot, and go 'You. Did it.' -  awkwardmuses
I got into Super Best Friends from a post on the Twin Perfect forum, that linked to the Silent Hill Downpour lp, and never looked back. Their let's plays brought me so much joy back when I wasn't in the best living or health situation, and continue to do so. My favourite let's plays have to be Eternal Darkness and the Shitstorms; I always go back to those when depression hits, or for any reasons. I'll miss them together, but I'll always have those delicious delicious memories. -  mrjaffesxeldritchtwin
The Best Friends Play are the reason I end so many sentences with "though". I first found them when a friend recommended the Best Sisters Play MLP animations, and I've loved them ever since. I know it's used as a joke, but I really believe they've earned the title of HYPEST GAMEPLAY ON YOUTUBE. I love all of their David Cage playthroughs, and I adore how many plot-points they guess during Beyond: Two Souls. I love how, when they play a game they really love, they show so much knowledge and care. -  mads-in-zero
It was incredibly amusing and oddly touching that the Zaibatsu created this hate circle of David Cage and his godawful games. Even before Detroit’s release, the best friends AND the fanbase were ready to hate it because as a collective, we just latched onto that one thing to hate/make fun of. And we go all out on it together like some fucked up family, and I love it. -  missinghmmingbird
I can’t help but shrug off every minor inconvenience and major issue in my life with “it’s fine” thanks to Gun Jumper Liam. Thanks to Matt and Woolie supporting Skullgirls like no one else on the internet, I really got into it and fighting games as a whole. I’m not good at them, but oh boy do I love them. And if it wasn’t for Pat, I don’t think I’d ever have touched a Yakuza or Persona game. These guys affected my life more than any other individual or group on the internet ever really has. -  dklordg
The first Best Friends video I ever watched was Portal 2. That short LP had me in stitches. I'd never laughed so hard. I've been a huge fan since then. These guys where the ones that introduced me to LPs and made me realize that you can have fun watching other people bumble through games. TheSw1tcher has been one of my favorite channels on YouTube since I began watching. It gave me something to look forward to. I got through high school, and essentially grew up, watching these videos. There are so many catchphrases and memes I will never forget and will always make me smile. I absolutely say stuff like “whah happun?” and “shit-kids” all the time. The Deadly Premonition and Detroit: Become Human playthroughs are wonderful gems in my eyes. It’s amazing how a group of guys can get so many people to collectively love and bash certain games. We’re all on the same page, having a blast like a huge group of friends at a slumber party. Matt, Pat, Woolie, Liam, Billy, and everyone who involved themselves with the Super Best Friends are the absolute best. They gave me a chance to relax and laugh along with some familiar voices. Although it's sad they are going their separate ways, I totally respect that fact. They have my love and support. I wish them nothing but success and happiness moving forward. I'll be watching! And a note to my fellow fans: This has been a wild ride. I'm glad I got to enjoy it with you. You are all fantastic people. -  fablesamongus

Hopefully this doesn't sound pushy but would you mind giving us an idea of when your next fic will be out? :3
Hello, anon! You’re not being pushy at all!
“What Lies Ahead” [Souyo] should be updated in a week or so with the wedding/wedding night content. “Red Thread” [Jokamu] will follow in…a month, I’d say, since it just recently updated. Lots of “first date” fun! I’ll also be updating “Your Hands Brought The Morrow” which has been on hiatus because the original chapters are on FF.net…and lost on my computer LOL
I’m also working with another user on a super-secret collab fic for the near future. I’ll also be participating in Souyo Week 2019, starting late May! :3c
So, May will be a good month for updates!
Sneak peeks for the new chapters of “Red Thread” and “What Lies Ahead” are under the cut.
Thanks for your curiosity! It inspires me to keep going.
Red Thread
…Elise puffed out a cheek in annoyance. “There is a beautyadvisor out there who needs to be fired for letting that poor girl mix a creme lightener with a 40-volume developer.”
The words went right over Corrin’s head. “What?”
“Exactly,” Elise agreed, throwing her gloved hands over herhead in resignation. “I don’t get it either!”
Corrin’s job in municipal government had taught her amplelessons about picking her battles. Rather than terrifying her sister with herlack of hair-related knowledge, she shrugged off her confusion and decided tochange the subject as briskly as possible.
“Anyway, Elise,” Corrin ventured, voice quieting slightly asshe spoke. “The reason I came to see you is because…um, I had a favor to ask.As long as you aren’t too busy.”
“For you?” Elise asked, not even looking up from her stationas she raked split ends into a trash can. “Never. What’s up?”
He eagerness touched Corrin deeply, but it didn’t completelysquash her hesitation. “I wanted to know if you wouldn’t mind doing my hair, because…I have a date.”
This time, Elise looked up faster than a deer noticingheadlights.
“What!” she asked, practically screeching. A wide,pink-rimmed grin broke her stunned expression seconds later. “Oh my gosh, yes!Yes, I’d love too! Oh, I’ve wanted to do your hair forever…and it’s becauseyou’re going on a date?”
Corrin nodded, her cheeks tinted pink.
“…Who are they?”
What Lies Ahead
They’d only been married for a couple hours, but as itturned out, his husband knew him well too well after all.
…Husband.
That would take getting used to.
“I just don’t feel like getting super buzzed tonight, that’sall,” he admitted with a casual shrug. Then, as he proceeded down half his drinkin one gulp, he sighed wistfully. “Although I will admit, it is somewhatdisappointing.”
“Not strong enough?”
“It’s just a little wimpy,” Yu admitted. “Maybe because it’sso simple?”
“The lack of hangover is pretty nice though,” Yosuke chippedin while waggling his glass of neat cognac. “No sugar crash either. I think I’mstill partially traumatized after that one time Rise made us those bottomlessmimosas for that one brunch. Remember?”
Memories of hovering over a trash can for hours filled Yu’smind.
“…You’re two for two on fair points for the evening,” he said.A chill seeped through the layers of his Brioni wedding tuxedo.
Suddenly, the idea of drinking became extremely unappealing. So, he set his glass down on a nearby table and turned to Yosuke instead.
“Hey, you want to dance?” he asked.

Thieves in Inaba Epilogue
Minato opens his eyes slowly, seeing everyone crowded around him...his friends worried.
“He...he’s still alive!” Junpei exclaims, diving straight for a hug which is joined by the rest of the Shadow Operatives.
Minato laughs, hugging them all back. “Yeah, I’m here. This time for good.”
Ryuji look around the area, seeing Inaba back to it’s normal...dull self. The only evidence that the town had any sort of supernatural event hit it is the Meteorite that is still in it’s landing spot.
“Damn...you wouldn’t belive me if I told you this place was a warzone at one point.” He shakes his head.
“I would.” A familiar voice states. Everyone looks over to the source to see Kou along with the rest of the former captives walking up to them. “This place went though hell...we were kidnapped by Shadows right? And tossed into a sauna.”
“Hey can we...not bring that sauna up. Like...ever again?” Youske states. “The less I think back to my first time there the better..”
“So, what are you gonna do with us now?” Daisuke asks, arms folded. “In the movies, normally when an event like this happens-”
“They wipe your memories!” Kenji states. “Just like in Men in Shades right? So...we won’t recall any of this...right?”
“That would be the case...if we did in fact have such devices.” Mitsuru explains, nodding.
“So are we allowed to keep our recollections of these events then?” Hifumi asks, head tilted.
“Yeah.” Minato responds. “But you all have to promise that none of what transpired here is brought to the attention of the general public.”
“But wait, hold on. This was all over the news.” Sojiro points out, hand in his pocket. “And that red haired kid there was featured fighting them, Persona and all. How can you be sure that people won’t still talk about it?”
“We can handle the cover up if need be.” Mitsuru reassures.
“Ooooor I can just hack into all the TV Stations that have the footage and delete them. It’s super easy!” Futaba giggles, but Sojiro doesn’t seem too keen on the idea.
“Well regardless of what course of action we take, we’ll get it taken care of.” Labrys smiles.
“Onto another thing...did anyone notice that...well...MORGANA IS HUMAN?” Makoto points out.
“Ah, right. You weren’t with us.” Ann nods. “Yeah, it just sorta happened. I still can’t figure out why.”
Morgana laughs, smile wide on his face. “Did you forget, Lady Ann? The power of cognition was strong back there. Ren was able to manifest that knife after all.”
“So you’re saying that you...grew a human body by thinking real hard?” Kanji asks.
“Well...I guess that’s technically not wrong but...”
“No that’s pretty much it.” Futaba laughs.
“Well I for one approve, one hundred percent! It’s beary nice!” Teddie puts an arm around Mogana’s neck with a wide smile on his face.
“What am I going to tell my parents though?” Ren sighs. “They just got used to having a cat in the house and now the cat is a person.”
“You could always kick him out you know. You have a chance to.” Ryuji smirks, laughing when Morgana glares at him.
“You could just convince your folks to adopt him.” Kou suggests. “But he’d need paper work and such...”
“This is where I come in!” Futaba exclaims. “Making all the right documents for Mona will be easy!”
Yu looks over to his uncle. “This won’t be an issue, would it Uncle?”
Dojima sighs, shaking his head. “After all this crazyness, I can overlook this just this once. I’ll do what I can to make sure it goes right. Can’t have this kid going homeless, right?”
Yosuke looks around. “Speaking of overlooking...where did Adachi go?”
“Him? He left as soon as he got out of the TV he was trapped in. By my guess, he went to his cell before anyone could notice he got out.”
“Then perhaps it’s time I head on as well...stay too long here and I’m bound to be recognized.” Akechi states, putting his hood up as he starts to walk off...only to be grabbed by the arm.
“And just where do you think you’re going, Goro?” Sae demands, a stern look on her face. “You still need to tell me about your involvement with the scandal last year.”
“...right. I figured I wouldn’t get far enough without getting interrogated by you, Sae-san.” Goro sighs.
Sae looks to Mitsuru. “Do you mind if I use your chopper as a makeshift interrogation room?”
“By all means.”
The two head to the chopper as everyone watches. Minato sighs.
“Well now that I’m here for good...it’s summer right? Why don’t we make the most of it. Didn’t that Amagi Inn have hot springs?”
Yukiko nods. “Yes we do! Do you all want to go spend a night there? We’d love to have you.”
“Pay attention to who’s turn for the bathes it is this time, Yukiko.” Naoto sighs, shaking her head remembering...the incident.
The group all heads for the inn, but Mishima lags behind just a bit. The events are still playing out in his head. He awakened to a Persona, and was able to train alongside all those who were more skilled then he was. Only, in the end he couldn’t contribute much. He was captured during his first true attempt, and seeing Ren and the other wild cards accomplish what they did...didn’t help matters at all.
As the guys head into the outdoor bath, Mishima is still thinking it all over. Only for Ryuji to nudge him.
“Hey man, don’t be so glum. We effing won against a freaking god!” He laughs.
“Hey, not so loud!” Ren mutters. “We have to keep this all under wraps remember?”
“We didn’t. It was Ren, Yu, Minato, Sho and Akechi. They were the ones who defeated him in the end.” Mishima sighs.
“I know you think about it like that but, it was because we managed to free you all that we really won in the end.” Yu points out.
“Had it not been for our bonds with you all, we would have lost.” Minato puts his hands behind his head.
“So...it really was a team effort in the end?” Mishima suddenly looks a bit happier.
“For sure, man. We all played our part.” Kanji smiles.
“Speaking of team effort...Mitsuru wanted me to ask something of you Thieves.” Akihiko states. “She wants you all to keep in contact should another issue like this crop up.”
“So you wish for us to join under the banner of the Shadow Operatives then?” Yusuke asks. “We would want something in return should we agree, you know.”
“Geez, you guys really are thieves if you’re asking it like that.” Ken sighs. “But what could we offer in return?”
Morgana laughs, rubbing his hands together. “Well if you really must ask, how about a life time supply of tuna!”
Ryuji shoves the former cat’s head under the water for a bit before letting go. “Ignore him.”
“This should really be up to Ren, right? He is our leader after all.” Mishima points out.
“We want a few things in return for our services.” Ren smirks. “First and foremost, Mishima here is currently working on a documentary for us. If Mitsuru could provide funding so it can become a reality.”
“That’s not that bad of a request. What else?” Junpei asks.
“Next, we want to get as much info on Persona and the many ways Shadows can come into being. If you could allow us access to that martial.”
“I’d question why, but it’s good to know. What else?” Minato asks.
“Keep a close eye on Akechi. Don’t let him off your radar. I know he’s going to go back into hiding after this and it might not be long before Shido’s shoe lickers get to him. He knows info that we’d all die to know so it’s important to keep that source safe and sound.”
“Done.” Akihiko nods. “I’ll let Mitsutu know later.”
“Then you have a deal.” Ren slumps a bit into the water with a satisfied look on his face.
“But maan...this was not how I expected to kick off my Summer..” Ryuji laughs, slumping in a bit himself. “I was fully prepared for a lax couple of weeks in a country town, not saving the effing country again.”
“Despite how we did meet originally, I’m glad we were able to come out of all of this as friends.” Yu smiles, laughing a bit.
“And, I was right! The TV World was actually in danger after all!” Yosuke seems proud of himself as he states this.
“Are you sure that’s really why you had us snoop, Yosuke-senpai? Or was it because you bored as hell two days into your summer?” Kanji looks at him hard, which causes everyone to laugh.
“Sh-Shut up okay?! Safety was my first priority!”
“I think I see your Shadow, Yosuke~” Teddie teases.
Minato looks up to the starlit sky, and smiles. The world might have changed some while he was gone...but at the end of it all...he gained more friends. And that’s what mattered the most, in the end.

// The airport lobby where many people come and go.
Tumblr media
Takaomi who carries a guitar case, and one person who stands in his way. //
Judah: …..
Takaomi: What is it?
Judah: Will you abandon your country?
Takaomi: Huh?
Takaomi: No way… My shitty parents are abroad right now so I was just going there for a while. Though, by the time I’m back, you guys would be done with your exchange.
Judah: It doesn’t change the fact that you are running with your tail between your legs.
Takaomi: I don’t know what kind of stunt you’re trying to pull here but it’s not like what I do concerns you. Didn’t you say you didn’t have any intentions of herding with people either?
Judah: …..
Takaomi: Then do your best for the next two days.
// Stepping past Judah, Takaomi heads for the boarding gates as Judah watched silently-- or so that was supposed to be the case. //
Takaomi: ?!
// His shoulders suddenly felt light. Turning around, his disappeared guitar case was in Judah’s hands. //
Takaomi: Bastard…
// His beloved Gibson Les Paul Model. As Takaomi reached out his arm with the intention of taking it back, silent as a shadow, Judah slipped away. //
Takaomi: !
// With no warning or footsteps. //
Judah: Not flocking with with others and not facing others is not the same thing. You are simply running away. A coward has no use for this sort of thing, I shall give it a burial.
// Whilst holding on to the guitar case, Judah turns and runs. //
Takaomi: Burial… WHAT?!
[scene change: gym]
// Meanwhile. In the Shinonome gymnasium, the students’ gazes were all fixed upon Kiichi. //
Kiichi: A measure of their ability to escort woman, a battle of dignity and chivalry, the Gentleman Showdown.
Kiichi: A measure of their ability to live in society, a battle of manners and currying favour, the Salaryman Showdown.
Tumblr media
Kiichi: The great battle for the title of Handsome Man, the Worldwide Handsome Men, 3 Point Contest is finally reaching its final mission.
Yanagi: Gentleman, Salaryman… I wonder what’s next?
Shinya: Debridement*, maybe?
Mikage: What’s that?
Kiichi: --This world is filled with outrageous things. Justice does not always prevail. As the result of poor luck, unfortunate accidents could occur that jeopardise your lives. When something you treasure is threatened like this, a man needs the strength not just to protect himself but also those around him.
Kiichi: Exactly! The final topic is, protecting your loved ones through any means necessary, whether brute strength or brains, the Superman Showdown!
Yosuke: Having said that, this time we’re not using the Yume System, it’ll be a real physical battle so good luck.
Mamoru: The last topic of the 3 Point Contest is “Superman Showdown”! After this, a dummy rescue mannequin will be placed somewhere on school grounds, the team that finds and rescues the dummy will earn points.
Jin: The development of this mannequin was entrusted to us. However, there is one warning to heed, listen well. Tell them, Chizuru.
Chizuru: Yes, Jin-san. The rescue mannequin that was developed by Ryu-ou Corporation is naturally, a super high performance humanoid robot but due to the busy schedules of our teams, it must be noted that durability tests were not complete. Hence, upon encountering the mannequin please treat it as if it were made of glass and handle it with caution. We seek your cooperation.
Mamoru: All teams will start at the same time for the last challenge. Dear Handsome Man candidates, are you ready?!
Touji: Mochizuki-kun, Nito-kun and the others are not back yet…
Yuma: Yeah, at this rate they will lose by default.
[scene change: school road]
Tumblr media
Dylan: Senri, did you see it?
Tumblr media
Senri: Doesn’t seem to be here. But earlier I asked for eye witness information on Shinonome Network…
// The two of them look at Senri’s smartphone together. //
Senri’s Switter Friend: I might have seen a mouse like shape run towards the school along the school road.
Senri’s Switter Friend: Don’t see it around the water fountains but I’ll look out!
// As notifications pop up one after the other, Dylan’s eyes begin to spin. //
Dylan: It’s like you’re an informant with a ton of allies. Senri has a lot of friends, huh?
Senri: Unlike a certain someone, I want to connect and treasure my bonds with everyone I meet.
Mamoru: In a few moments the Handsome Men, 3 Point Contest: Superman Showdown will begin! If the Multinational Team do not enter ASAP, they will be disqualified!
Dylan & Senri: ! !
// Both the announcement and the voices of the Regular Students were brought to them by the wind. //
Dylan: ( ….. )
[flashback:
Senri: I was serious so I don’t think it just “couldn’t be helped”. I wanted to win with everyone.
/end flashback]
Tumblr media
Dylan: ( Last night, Senri and Takaomi got angry at me for not being serious about the matches. Being sent on an exchange at the reprimand of my brothers, to be honest I did think of half-assing the 7 days but now… )
Dylan: Senri, please give up on the match. Right now, finding Mash is a bigger priority.
Senri: ! Of course! We have to find Judah’s precious family! !
Dylan: Alright, we’ll definitely find him!
Tumblr media
Senri: AHHHHH! Dylan, over there! !
Dylan: ! ! Mash!
Senri: Wait up~!

Chapter 3 of this self indulgent shippy thing. Been just a thing in my head for a bit of wanting to do something with these two dorks that I really enjoy.
And that wait seemed to drag on through the week for the both of them. Chie was all giddy about trying out a new place, even if it wasn’t with their full group of friends. Still, that didn’t stop her from talking a bit about it with Yukiko, who joked about it being a date, something that made Chie try to play it off as best she could. It didn’t drag her energy levels down, but it did start to make her think about the whole arrangement further and somewhat confused the poor girl about her own feelings about her friend if this ended up being a ‘date’.
The wait along with seeing Chie excited about it seemed to give Yosuke an extra bit of motivation to work his butt off at Junes, something that ended up not going unrewarded in the long run with a small bonus given to him by his boss/father who handed it over to him with a tease about treating his girlfriend with it. At least it wasn’t out on the floor and instead in his office, so some face was saved as he tried to deny he was dating anyone, even through that knowing look Mr. Hanamura was giving his son.
The day finally arrived. A small time off of school meant they could spend the whole day out if they wanted to, which Yosuke took as much of an advantage of by arriving in the midmorning hours on his scooter. Chie’s parents heard his approach and couldn’t help but tease their daughter about her boyfriend arriving for their date. Quickly pulling on her sleeveless top, snatching her helmet, and rushing out the door, the kung fu enthusiast was red faced as can be after hearing those comments.
“What’s up, Chie? Your face is about as red as Yukiko’s shirt.” He greeted her jokingly, adding a wink before scooting up a little in his seat to make a little extra room for her.
“Sh-shut up and drive.” Chie mumbled as she hopped on, causing the bike to lower just a little bit with her added weight. “It’s just my parents giving me a bit of hell.”
“I know how that feels. Dad was poking fun at why I was working extra hard this week. Ah, better hang on tight.” The warning came right before he revved up his scooter to get them going. Her arms tightened around his waist and he could feel the pudgy core of his friend being pressed against his back.
The ride wasn’t too long out to the city, but it was a little more embarrassing than the both expected it to be. With her clinging on to him like that, it really did give off the image that they were more than they claimed to be, and might incite a few rumours from the townsfolk that saw them on their ride out of Inaba. “Sorry about that, I guess I didn’t think this all the way through.” Which was only a partial truth. He did think about her being pressed up against him, but not entirely about onlookers or the repercussions of them riding through town.
“It’s fine, Yosuke. What’s wrong with two friends hanging out?” Came her reply with a smile, trying to ease some of the tension. Sure, they’ll probably deal with people talking, but that wasn’t super important. If anyone asked, she’d just tell them the truth... once she completely figured out what said truth was. Whatever, today was about this restaurant and hanging out. “C’mon, Yosuke, let’s get going already!” With as chipper mood as she can muster through the muddled thoughts she’s been afflicted with, she’s pulling on his arm to get him moving. Reading the mood, Yosuke’s started walking and takes the lead to the address their grey haired friend had sent him.
Upon arrival, both of their jaws dropped at seeing the sign advertising what type of place the establishment was. “All you can eat buffet! Including our specialty of grilled meats from around the world!” Of course, once it was registered in both of their heads, the pair had a differing set of reactions. Chie’s excitement levels shot through the roof, her love of meat was well known by all of her friends and plenty of people in town. Yosuke on the other hand had a palm on his face while he was sifting through a few thoughts. ‘How in the hell did he know? And which part did he know exactly? Was he expecting me just to bring Chie or to tell everyone about this? Wait, no he said something about bringing a date... Greaaaaat, that either means he knows about my interest in bigger girls, my attraction to Chie... or, knowing my luck and his seemingly infinite knowledge, both’. Being pulled from his torrent of questions, Yosuke comes back to the world with an all to bubbly Chie tugging him inside, a look of joy and ravenous hunger plastered on her face. All that bounciness caused a bit of extra jiggle in her frame that served to entice him just a little further. Yeah, Narukami had to know something, but that’s going to be tucked to the sideline while they’re spending time here.
The doors were opened and the scents of every meat in the house nearly sent Chie into a feeding frenzy. Stars in her eyes and a thin line of drool dripping down her chin, Chie’s struggling to hold herself back. It was something that brought the jovial smile back to Yosuke’s face while he fished for his wallet and paid for the both of them. It turned out to be cheaper than he expected, which was a relief and a half to him. Maybe if she enjoyed it well enough, they could just come here regularly along with seeing a movie at the theater here. “Alright Chie, I paid, go ahead. I’ll find us a table.” And off to the races she went, likely with eyes bigger than her gut for the moment as she’s piling up slabs of meat onto her plate. Beef might be her top favourite, but she still has quite a bit of enjoyment for various others. And it’s not like she’s outright skimping on veggies or rice either, but they’re certainly on the backburner comparatively to the mountain of savoury goods that her carnivorous side needs to tear into. As soon as she had her stack of steaks and such, she turned back towards the tables and found Yosuke waving over to her.
Planting her rear down at the table, she’s all too eager to get started, only stalling for a moment as Yosuke comments. “Man, looks like you really hit the jackpot. By the way, they took a drink order, you don’t mind Dr. Salt NEO, right?” Shaking her head in response, her mouth already too full for her to speak for the moment. It wasn’t quite her favourite soda, but that didn’t mean it was a bad one to her. Besides, even if it were a poor choice, the taste of her food can drown it out. Speaking of which, the mouthful she had now elicited quite the ecstatic groan from the girl. Narukami really knew how to pick the place... but why did he tell Yosuke and not her about it? He knew that she had a love affair with this stuff, but he still set Yosuke up for this instead. Weird... Ah well, think later meat now. And on to consuming she did, only stopping periodically to take a drink from her soda, which only served to rile her gut up just a bit more with the carbonation mixing in with all the grease and sauce from her food, countless calories compiling beneath her chub.
Yosuke sat there and enjoyed a bit of his own plate, sticking a little less to the meat reliance she had but not entirely straying from the path either. Once again, he found himself enraptured by the sight of her crazed feasting, more visible now with her not having a bowl upturned to her face. The little bits of grease sticking to her cheeks and chin, creating a thin layer upon her lips and giving them a little shine in the lighting. Even with the impressive amount she had gathered, she was making quite quick work of it all, her soft tum starting to round out with every bite she gulped down in her hasty hedonism. Heart racing and face ablaze, the boy hardly even noticed the waitress stop by to refill their drinks, only cognizant enough to give her a polite thank you whilst entranced. Noting that her first course was nearing an end, he jumped up and offered to gather her next plate himself while she finished this one off. It took her aback a little, but if it meant she didn’t have to worry, maybe it would be nice if he went ahead and did that. Besides, it’s not like her choices were a secret and maybe less moving would be good for her to relax while she’s working on digesting all of this.
Up with a leap and a spring in his step, Yosuke’s picking out the best looking items that he can think of, from prime cut steaks to well grilled pork, to even finding some sauce slathered chicken, he’s balancing a fair amount onto one plate. Part of him thinks it might be a bit much, but at the same time he knows she can handle it all fairly well. His eyes roam back to his glutted companion, who has her gut steadily starting to peek out from under her shirt and bubble over her tight shorts. Splatters of grease and small chunks of meat coat her cheeks and chin quite nicely, a layer of perspiration at her brow... the poor boy could hear his heart thumping away and ringing in his ears.
Returning to her side, he sets the plate down before her and pushes the now emptied one to the side. There was a gurgling sound coming from her gut, and he could swear something was starting to bubble its way back up her throat. Unable to resist it further, a loud “UUUURRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP” blasted forth from Chie’s lips, and her face lit up in a brilliant shade of scarlet. Yosuke looked at her in awe, eyes wide open and mouth agape as his brain short circuited for a few moments. “ ‘scuse me...” She mumbled before sheepishly getting to her second platter, trying to bury her shame in meat. “It’s fine, Chie! I-I mean, it’s natural...” His voice was shaky at best, peppered with a hint of arousal that he really hoped she hadn’t caught. “Uh... r-right.” Came her reply... oh she noticed and had no clue how to process it. ‘Way to go, Yosuke... had to make it weird.’ He admonished himself as he sat back in his chair.
Halfway into her second plate, Chie looked up at the clumsy boy and had to try to clear the air, at least a little bit. “Hey, Yosuke? Um... are you... do you...” It was rather hard trying to find the right words to say about this subject. Hell, anything like this normally she’s not used to, let alone... well, this. He knew it was coming at this point, and hearing her stumbling in her words made him feel even worse. Leaning in, she lowered her voice to a whisper, bearing a bit of her girth against him in the process. “D-do you enjoy... watching me eat?”
There came the knockout blow to his pride. Seems she figured it out after all. Granted, he knew she wasn’t entirely dumb, and figured she would at some point, but he had hoped it would’ve come a little later. His own face ablaze, he gives her a nod. “Y-yeah... I do. A-and... I like... w-well, this too.” He makes to motion at her engorged gut, but in the process his finger sinks into it slightly, eliciting a surprised, yet slightly pleased sound from Chie. Unfortunately, his brain doesn’t process it and he almost spills out of his chair. “Ah, crap, sorry!” He shouts a little too loudly, drawing attention from some of the other patrons. “N-no, it’s... it’s fine. It... felt kinda nice.” Unable to stop her thoughts, she pressed a little more into him. “I-is it just me you enjoy like this or...?” She left it open, as her mind ran rampant on asking what the hell she was even saying.
“W-well, yes and no? I mean... remember when you caught me at the bookstore? There was a book on... plus sized models in that bag too. B-but lately... I dunno, more of my thoughts have had you in them. Wait, that doesn’t sound good either.” As usual, he ended up putting his foot in his mouth. But this time, he hasn’t found himself on the end of an ass kicking that he expects from her. Instead, she’s shuffling in her chair a little bit. “Wait... do you... not mind I think about you like that?”
“Well, a little bit, but only because I know how much of a perv you can be... but at the same time... I didn’t expect me to be... well, in those kinds of thoughts.” Her emphasis made him wince a little bit. “You kidding? I mean, you’ve always been pretty cute and those legs are amazing!“ Yosuke... no...
“Wha? Y-you mean you’ve thought about me beyond just... well, that stuff too?!” There’s genuine shock in her voice as he sheepishly nods and is still ready to get the crap beat out of him, but the kick never comes. Instead, it’s just the two of them being awkwardly quiet outside of the rumblings coming from Chie’s gut. “Maybe we should head back home and talk about this rather than here in public.“ Yosuke offers and Chie feels inclined to agree to it. It didn’t seem right to discuss this in front of people, even if they didn’t know anyone here. Leaving a tip on the table, the two of them leave, hopping onto Yosuke’s scooter for an all too awkward ride back to Inaba, with her stuffed tum now being pressed into his back.

souyo + manic pixie dream girl yosuke but just like as the stereotype
This one was actually more fun to write than I thought it would be lmao. I wasn't entirely sure at first, but I like the direction I went with it
Yosuke stared into the mirror, sighing as he adjusted the wig on his head. It was a pale pink bob with light blue ribbons attached to the side.
How had he let this happen?
He made videos sometimes. It was always of him playing the guitar, mostly doing tutorials of songs. After college, he had gotten hired on at Rise’s production studio as someone to help write songs for the idols - he mainly did stuff for Rise since she was the reason he had gotten hired, but he still did stuff for the other idols there as well. A lot of people liked having him - someone who had actually worked on writing the songs - teach them how to play it. The production studio was even for it, enjoying the good will from their fans.
About a month ago, he had been asked by the production company to take part in a charity live stream. He had managed to gain a small following of his own, so they wanted people who were more interested in him to come as well. He had agreed, and that was where his problem had started.
One thing had led to another, and, by the end of it, he had promised to dress up and shoot a video playing a character if they managed to raise a certain amount of money. Needless to say, they had reached that goal, so now, in order to keep that promise, he was about to shoot a video - a video in drag - a video in a type of drag far more embarrassing than what he had been forced to wear at the crossdressing pageant in high school.
The one silver lining of all of this was that he had only agreed to a pre-recorded video. That meant that he could edit out any parts that were too embarrassing for him to handle. He also didn’t have to deal with anyone else being there to laugh at him.
Yu was even out of the house for the afternoon spending time with some work friends. He had actually waited specifically until he had a day like that to do this. The idea of Yu seeing him like this was so unbearably embarrassing.
He had struggled a little bit getting ready, having to watch tutorials to do even the most basic of makeup. It had taken him about two hours to get himself to look presentable on that front. After that, he had to put on the outfit - he wasn’t about to wear a dress again, so he had settled for a pair of jeans and a lacy blouse - no one was gonna see his legs anyway. After that, he had once again struggled for a long while to get the wig on.
Now though, there was nothing else to do but record this video.
He hesitated as much as he could before exiting the bedroom, walking down the hall to the room where he had his instruments. He had quite a few - a couple different types of guitar, a keyboard, even a box of miscellaneous percussion instruments.
This was also where he had his setup to do videos.
He took a deep breath before grabbing an acoustic guitar off of its stand, walking over to the desk on the other side of the room. He had already set everything up, so now it was just time to record.
He sat down on the chair in front of the desk, staring at the camera in front of him. He could do this. He wouldn't die of embarrassment. He would be all right. He just had to record a super quick video and hopefully no one he actually knew would ever bring it up to him.
He took one last steadying breath before reaching over and hitting the record button.
He readjusted the guitar in his lap before looking up toward the camera, smiling widely.
He raised the pitch of his voice as he spoke, keeping it as energetic as possible. "Hey everyone! I just wanted to record another wonderful video for you today. Now, I've already made a tutorial for this one, but it didn't have quite as much flair as I wanted it to have. So, we're gonna try making it a little bit different and fun this time. I-"
He was cut off by the sound of the door to the room creaking open.
He immediately moved the guitar, holding it up in between him and the door, hiding behind it. He looked to see Yu standing there, staring at him, his eyebrows knit together.
His heart was pounding. He didn't want him to see him dressed up like this. This was so embarrassing.
Yu hesitated. "Uh, is this a video or a live stream?"
He looked away, reaching over, and pausing the recording. "Video."
"I was just coming to tell you that I was home, but I guess it's not the best time."
Yosuke didn't say anything. He just wanted to curl in on himself and stop existing. He really hated that he had come home now. Why couldn't it have been in like an hour? When he had finished shooting the video and had had time to take everything off.
Yosuke wasn't looking toward Yu, but he looked up as he heard footsteps coming toward him.
He stopped in front of him, laying his palm on his cheek, humming.
He leaned forward, pressing a soft and chaste kiss to his lips. It was so tender that he almost forgot what he was wearing. Almost.
He pulled away, looking at his face almost consideringly.
"I'll start on dinner in just a few minutes."
Yosuke nodded, watching as he headed toward the door.
Just before he left the room, he turned to face him. "Oh, and Yosuke?"
"Yeah?"
"Your eyeliner is smeared."
He let out an involuntary noise of embarrassment.
Yu laughed, leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
Yosuke groaned, holding his head in his hand. Why did he have to say things like that?
After a few seconds, he straightened, looking at himself in the camera.
His eyeliner really was smeared.

#86 it’s just you and me Hit me with that fluff, or angst turned fluff??
Alright, more painfully innocent fluff with a dash of teenage hormones. No I’ve never written a souyo fic without sexual tension.  No I’ve never tried.
(Sorry, this one’s a little meatier; it kinda got away from me. ;___; And forgive me but I cheated just a SLIGHT bit on the actual prompt line. The version I went with just sounded better in my head.)
(The Strategist)
For all his hatred of school, and the work therein, Yosuke Hanamura rarely skipped class anymore.  He used to do it in middle school a little, before his parents found out and scared the wits out of him with various threats to his person and property.  Since then, he’d basically gone to school six days a week when it was open, sans the occasional sick/mental health day.
But Yu Narukami?  Yu Narukami didn’t strike him as a skipper.  Not remotely.
In fact, he was so uptight about attending school and performing well at it that his attitude often had Yosuke pine for those middle school days when he and a few friends would shuffle out of the stairway exits and make their way down the street to the arcade.  Sure, maybe those hadn’t been the best of times, but, in all fairness, none of his pre-Inaba memories could really compare to the ones he’d been creating with Yu and the Investigation Team.
He didn’t quite get why simply knowing someone who actually liked school would get him to want to skip it, but maybe it had something to do with the fact that he was constantly uncomfortable (with himself, but also) with literally everything Yu did.  At any given time.  And because he had a fairly massive crush on Yu that he hadn’t been able to resolve to his satisfaction.
He huffed and rapped his pencil impatiently on his desk, just loud enough so that in front of him, Yu turned his head to look at him through his peripheral.  Yosuke straightened in his chair immediately and whispered, “Sorry,” (although he didn’t mean it), and Yu quirked a small, understanding smile at him before turning back around to the lecture.
Yosuke huffed again, albeit much quieter this time.  Yeah, he had to get Yu to skip.  This was unbearable.
The next day after school, he’d implemented all of his charm as he proposed his skipping idea, winking and promising more fun than he was sure they’d actually have.  Yu looked suspicious of him from the moment he approached, but, to Yosuke’s surprise and delight, did eventually agree.
“Wha-really? You’ll do it?!” Yosuke’s voice went to a much higher pitch than he’d wanted it to, but he tried to ignore how annoyed it made him feel.
“I think it could be fun, sure,” Yu shrugged. “If you know what you’re doing,” he prodded.
Yosuke stammered and pulled at the hair on the back of his head. “Y-yeah of course! It’ll be a blast! We’ll head out to Okina or something - you know, catch a movie or … whatever.”
“Now that sounds like a date,” the boy teased, with a small cock of his head.
Yosuke rolled his eyes and slapped both hands to his cheeks.  “Oh~ I can’t believe I get to take the popular Yu Narukami out on a date! What on earth will I wear?”
Yu punched his arm lightly and the two chuckled as they headed off the school grounds and back to the Dojima residence for homework.  Yosuke dutifully completed every assignment he was given that evening but spent much of the time excitedly formulating a plan in his head for the next day.
The next day came, and Yosuke was not prepared.
Well, he was kind of prepared.  He knew what kind of fun things he wanted to get up to in Okina, but exactly how to get out of the school?  He’d kinda given up on that … He knew enough about the building at this point to guess where all the least-populated places might be, but he hadn’t really successfully strategized their grand escape from said building.  A part of him that he didn’t completely want to admit to secretly hoped that Yu would be able to come up with some ideas.
Slipping out during a class transition was easy enough - Yosuke had at least been able to think that far.  But his creativity hit a roadblock once they entered the hallway, and it must have been obvious, because Yu suddenly took the lead as effortlessly as he did in the other world.  Yosuke was a tiny bit disappointed in himself, but Yu was their leader for a reason, after all.  If Yosuke was good at anything, it was falling in line behind him.
Although … now that they were walking down a barren hallway towards the main stairway (at Yu’s silent order), doubt was clouding his mind.  Thinking about even attempting the main floor was what had given Yosuke so much heartburn the previous night.  Why Yu was choosing it now was beyond him … maybe he didn’t know another way?  Yosuke found that unlikely, though. Everyone knew that the first year hallway was always occupied with faculty.
Yosuke didn’t like the way his nerves were beginning to twinge in his belly as they traipsed down the steps towards the shoe lockers.  They huddled on the stairway against the wall, listening to the rise and fall of their teachers’ voices chattering outside the faculty office.  All the while, Yosuke mentally shuffled through the array of video games he’d have to sacrifice once they got caught. Seriously, Partner, why choose the main entrance?!  If only Yosuke had just had the nerve to admit that he’d come up blank earlier, they could have planned this out beforehand just like they did in the TV world …
Suddenly, Yu turned to him with wide eyes, and that was when Yosuke could tell that one of the voices was growing more distinct and - even more frightening - much closer.
Yu shoved him back up the stairs and Yosuke nearly tripped over them he was in such a rush to obey.  They shuffled, bumping into each other, back around the bend of the staircase while the teacher neared the bottom and passed it.  By that point, both boys were upstairs in the second year hallway again, panting and trying to control their racing hearts.
“Hey, why don’t we just go through the gym or something?!” Yosuke whisperscreamed when he was fairly confident no one else was around.
“Way too populated. I thought the first floor would be the quickest since it’s closest to the entrance. I … kind of forgot about all the teachers down there.”
Yosuke rolled his eyes in exasperation and scanned the hallways, paranoid that someone would poke their heads out of one of these classrooms any minute now.  “You know, partner, you might be a lot better at this in the TV world,” he whined.
He was considering suggesting the hallway towards the practice building when Yu smacked his arm.  “Yosuke!”
He turned towards him and assumed Yu must have seen something down the hall, because before he could open his mouth Yu had grabbed him and pulled him into a nearby supply closet.
It was completely dark and Yosuke had no idea what he was stepping on (in??) and this was not how he imagined his afternoon going.  They were supposed to be on a train right now to Okina, not shoved against each other in a pitch black closet filled with the potent smell of cleaning supplies.  It was hot in here, too. Stuffy.
Yu had his hands braced against the door on either side of Yosuke’s head, his open jacket flaps brushing against Yosuke’s stomach as the boy leaned towards the door to hear better.  This brought his face very near to Yosuke’s face, and the proximity made his skin buzz.  He decided he didn’t really like being trapped here with Yu hovering so near to him.  It made a wretchedly familiar pang of arousal leap through his gut, and he hated that possibly even more than he hated school.
He tried to tune out the fluttery feeling racing through him by listening to the sounds beyond the door.  He heard nothing - not the sound of walking, no doors, no screech of shoes over the worn tile.  He wondered what Yu had seen that had made him drag them in here.
After several agonizing seconds of Yosuke desperately fighting the temptation to lean in and smell him, Yu broke the silence.  His voice sounded calm and clean as it brushed passed his ear. “They’re gone,” he declared, yet remained stationed with his hands against the door and his body hovering close to Yosuke’s.
Yosuke’s heart thudded fiercely in his chest.  He wished he could tell what was going through his partner’s mind, why his secret crush was subjecting him to this.
Then Yu moved his head so that he was facing him, and Yosuke’s stomach dropped out when the other boy smiled at him and mumbled, darkly, “Looks like it’s just you and me.”
Yu leveled his gaze at him, and Yosuke realized in that instant that his partner was a much more brilliant strategist than he’d just given him credit for.
fin
(Aaaa sorry it ended so abruptly but I didn’t want it to just drag on… I’m pretty sure at this point Yosuke just gets super flustered and breaks out of the closet and makes so much noise that they both get caught and are given punishwork and they never skip school again the end)
(Okay but it is a funny couples-story they eventually tell the IT like years later because it was when Yosuke first realized Yu liked him)
Okay, well that was the last prompt I’ve gotten thus far, so feel free to submit more at your own risk. I think I’ve gotten better at turn-around but can’t speak for the quality, unfortunately. Oh well!  At least I have fun writing?

Allen’s Rambles About Persona 4 Arena
So... back in my RWBY Rambling I said that I really wasn’t going to like May since I’d be doing my breakdown and retrospective on the Blazblue series for the release of Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. Well it turns out I suck at keeping a schedule when it comes to these Ramblings, because I still need to talk about Persona 4 Arena and Under Night In-Birth. Sorry for the wait folks, I just haven’t had anything to say about these two series until now. It was hard to figure out a good way to articulate how I feel about these two games. After a bit of thinking I now know how I want to tackle these series, so I’ll get started with Persona 4 Arena first then move onto Under Night at a later date.
With all that said, hello Persona 4 and Blazblue fanbase, I’m Allen X. I write fanfics, fan lyrics to video game songs I like, and occasionally write out an opinion piece or two when I’m in the mood.
I’ve been a big fan of the Persona series for a few years now, with Persona 4 Arena  being the main thing that drew me into the series. Since then I’ve played Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, and Persona 5, even dipping in SMT: Devil Survivor 2 just for the sake of trying what the SMT universe had to offer, and reading through the manga adaptation of SMT: Devil Survivor 1. For those of you not familiar with the Persona 4 game and are curious about it... well, I’m sadly not going to explain the plot or story, but I do recommend watching the anime, Persona 4 the Animation if you want a crash course in what that game is about and not spend 60+ hours on a JRPG.
In any case, let’s get that Synopsis out of the way. I’m gonna’ be a little cheap this time around and copy the wiki page if that’s alright with you all. If I were to give a true synopsis of Persona 4 Arena I’d be spoiling Persona 4 and Persona 3. So then:
The game takes place two months after the events of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 as well as two years after the Persona 3 FES's "The Answer" storyline. Like Persona 4, Persona 4 Arena takes place in the fictional, rural Japanese town of Inaba. However, most of the events occur in the TV world, a dimension that reflects people's feelings. In this game, the world takes the form of Inaba's Yasogami High School, which is divided in multiple areas that serve as arenas.
As Yu returns to visit Inaba for Golden Week, he and the others witness a commercial on the Midnight Channel for a fighting tournament, the "P-1 Grand Prix", hosted by what appears to be their friend Teddie. The tournament not only involves them, but also their companions Kanji Tatsumi and Naoto Shirogane. With their friends Rise Kujikawa, Kanji and Teddie missing, and Naoto absent, Yu, Yosuke, Chie and Yukiko decide to investigate. The following day, they enter the TV and find themselves stuck in a world resembling Yasogami High School.
So yeah, it’s literally a Persona 4 fighting game with some Persona 3 characters thrown in. I’d talk a little bit about Ultimax, but again I don’t want to fill this Rambling with spoilers
That done, I’ll move onto...
My History
Like I said, Persona 4 Arena was my first true dive into the series in terms of a financial purchase, but I’ve been familiar with Persona 4 since it first came out on the PS2 (God, I’m getting old). Yes, it looks like we’re two for two in terms of drama and fandom outcry not being what initially drew me to Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 as a whole.
I actually got into Persona 4 when let’s plays of the original game was coming out. I mostly saw the clips and cutscenes of the game and was able to piece together enough about the plot to understand and enjoy it, but I was fully hooked when the anime came up, Persona 4 the Animation. I had a PS2 and PS3 at the time, but I really didn’t want to buy the game since the PS3 was starting to gain more prevalence and I was saving for other games. I found the anime it to be a great adaptation for the game, to the point where I can safely say if you don’t know about the story Persona 4 the anime is a great way to get caught up if you don’t want to spend 60+ hours playing the original game.
I bought Persona 4 Arena a little after it released in the West, and I found it to be one of the more accessible fighting games at the time, especially for anime air-dashers and for Arc System Works games in general. I had Blazblue at the time, but I sucked at it and just spammed revolver combos or Noel’s drive to get by, but Persona 4 Arena helped me get a better handle on how fighting games work.
Which brings me to...
The Appeal
I’ll be honest, this game doesn’t really have much appeal unless you’re a Persona fan. This game heavily references both Persona 4 and Persona 3 with how characters fight, a lot of flavor text that happened between characters, how a lot of the UI is displayed, and (most important of all) its story. I feel the same way about Dragonball FightererZ,  this game is a love letter to Persona 4 and Persona 3 fans, but unless you like those two games there isn’t much to care about. I think outside of a love for the series the only other real appeal is the accessibility. Before DBFZ came out, Persona 4 Arena was probably the most accessible Arc System Works fighting game out there. There was an auto combo system for new player to use, but there were also some more complex systems to it too, liking properly using EX moves and EX supers, managing Awakening Mode, properly using strong and Persona attacks in your combos do a large amount of damage, and so on.
Though, it I were to give a personal appeal of the Persona 4 Arena, namely for Ultimax, it’d be Golden Arena Mode, an RPG-esque mode that lets you gain experience, level up your character, and gave you wicked-powerful buffs as you get stronger. It was a great call back to Blazblue arena, and something pray get’s put into Cross Tag Battle somehow.
So all in all, not much I can say to sell Persona 4 Arena to people that have never played a Persona game. In any case, I’ll be moving onto...
My Mains
What kind of Fighting Game Retrospective would this be if I didn’t talk about who I mainly play? Just a quick explanation before I go on. When I play a fighting game, I usually have two to three mains, and about 4 subs. The main reason being in case someone gets extremely nerfed and become unplayable in a competitive sense. Now I rarely play top tier characters for this reason, but... well, they nerfed Answer in Guilty Gear for some God-forsaken reason, so I think I was right to have Ram and Chipp on the side. The reason I have so many subs is because I play these games on a more casual level, and I like experiment with just about everyone... except the grappler characters... sorry Kanji.
But anyway, here are my Persona 4 Arena Mains
Tumblr media
Yosuke is basically the ninja of the game, and as you will see in future Ramblings, I usually main toward the ninja, the only games I haven’t would be Under Night In-Birth where I sub Seth, Virtua Fighter were I just haven’t touched Kagemaru yet, and... that’s really it. Yosuke is “Mixups the Character”. He has a move for just about every situation and can easily confuse his opponents. A warping sweep, kunai throws, his moonsault, God’s gift to all Yosuke mains, Tentrafoo, and Sukaja. And honestly, this is probably the most fun I’ve heard Yuri Lowenthal have voicing the guy. He sounds so energetic.
Tumblr media
Along with the ninja, I always main who I believe is “Best Girl” of that series. Now that’s a very subjective matter, I know, but I’ll just say that Chie is a rushdown-heavy character that I could get down with. I think this was my first time hearing Erin Fitzgerald’s voice too, and what a way to do it. I think she sounds great as Chie, at least for the fighting games. I’ll save my critique of Persona 4 for a later date, but her Power Charge ability and God Hand can one-shot just about any opponent. She’s a bit of a glass cannon as a result, but God what a cannon.
Tumblr media
So... SHO Minazuki. I really like his playstyle, mostly because I don’t have to worry about his Persona breaking since he doesn’t have one. He’s rushdown-heavy like Chie, but he’s a little more risk-reward. His all-out attack has a weird hitbox, but other than getting around that I have a lot of fun playing him. I like him, I like him a lot.
I also subbed Yukari, Marie, Teddie, and Sho MINAZUKI, but these are my three mains.
So, with my main’s out of the way, I’m going go straight into...
The Conclusion
I sorry this Rambling isn’t like the monster the RWBY Rambling was, but I’m honestly very apathetic to Persona 4 Arena as a fighting game. As a Persona game I’ve got some issues with how it writes some of it’s characters and how contrived the story feels, but over I find it to be a solid game in general and worth getting if you’re a fan of Persona.

Souyowrimo Day 1
(Okay, so I’m a day behind, but I’ll try to catch up this weekend!)
1. Fancy Dress (prompt list)
Souji was late, and Yosuke was a wreck.
As the brunette glanced from the road to his phone (the screen hadn’t even gone dark from his last frantic time-check) and back again, he rubbed his neck, feeling a strange mix of disappointment, anticipation, and trepidation. Sure, it was only five minutes off the mark, but this… this was Souji. Souji was the one who was always early. Always. Hell, Yosuke started actually getting to school on time in the mornings simply by virtue of wanting to walk with his super mega crush new best friend.
Maybe Yosuke shouldn’t have pushed this shrine visit. Sure, it was New Year’s Day, sure they’d been dating for a whopping two whole months, and shrine visits were what you did when you were a couple (okay, maybe Yosuke had a list of cheesy couples things) but… maybe it wasn’t something Souji wanted to do? It wasn’t like Yosuke doubted that Souji liked him, no - they’d been pretty open about it, and everything was going great. The memories of Christmas eve still made his neck heat up, after all.
Maybe it was being together in public? It had taken Yosuke some time to get used to the idea, but he’d thought Souji was leagues ahead of him there.
A worse thought was that maybe something was wrong with Nanako. Or Dojima. He knew the two were scheduled to go back to the hospital again for a few weeks - Christmas had been a little break to be with family - but what if one of them had taken a turn for the worse? Yosuke remembered the sight of little Nanako lying pale and wan in the hospital bed and his heart clenched.
Maybe I should go by the house. Maybe I should text him? If something’s wrong I don’t want him to be stressed out, and-
Just then, he heard hurried footsteps behind him at the same time that a familiar voice gasped out, “Yosuke! I’m so sorry I’m late!” Relief washed over the brunette at the sound of his partner’s voice; when he turned, however, he found himself having to pick his jaw up from the pavement at the sight that greeted him.
It was Souji.
In a kimono.
Holy shit he looks amazing. It wasn’t like Yosuke was a slouch - he’d put on a dress shirt and his work slacks, and his coat was a new one his folks had gotten him for the winter - but it was nothing compared to Souji’s outfit. The haori was a deep blue, patterned with faint silver; everything else was grey, with the same silver pattern, and the trim reflected his eyes and everything just looked… amazing. And now Yosuke got to go make his New Year’s visit with a blushing boyfriend in a kimono. It was as if Souji had somehow managed to read Yosuke’s list of cheesy couples things (and here, the brunette made a mental note to make sure the list was somewhere Teddie couldn’t reach.)
It wasn’t until Souji rubbed his hand across the trim in a nervous gesture that Yosuke realised he’d been staring. Before his boyfriend could open his mouth, Yosuke breathed out a single word,
“Wow.”
It was enough, and Souji gave a long exhale of relief that somehow made Yosuke feel even more warm; he’d never even thought that maybe Souji actually worried about impressing him. As a smile grew across his face, his boyfriend ran a hand over his head.
“I’m glad, I was worried it might be too much, or look stupid, or-”
“Hell no.” Yosuke had to stop him here. “It looks amazing!”
This made Souji laugh, and the sound was delightful, and when he wrapped his arm through Yosuke’s, the brunette’s heart swelled with happiness. At this point, the shrine visit was just for show - he’d already gotten his luck.
It was going to be a good year.

NieR:Automata - Dengeki Playstation vol.638 Interview [Ending E spoilers]
Tumblr media
WARNING! This interview contains spoilers up to Ending E.
Published on May 11th 2017.
Tumblr media
Inquiring the key development staff of the abyss of “Project YoRHa”
NieR:Automata breaks past 1 million copies in sales and continues to be a hot selling hit. A direct interview with the 4 main staff immediately after the concert event! We enquire about the mysteries unraveled in the concert’s Recital Play and the world guide book. We’ll also ask about future grave visitings.
The people we’ll be interviewing
Director, Yoko Taro
From Bukkoro (ブッコロ). Responsible for directing NieR:Automata. Who is finally released from the deadlines for submitting the concert’s Recital Drama script and the world guide book.
Game Designer, Taura Takahisa
From Platinum Games. Responsible for the game design of NieR:Automata. Lately Yoko has been teasing him for his growing accustomization to the media.
Producer, Yosuke Saito
From Square Enix. Responsible for producing NieR:Automata. Kindly watches attentively over Yoko’s recklessness, when he’s gotta do it, he’ll do it.
Composer, Keiichi Okabe
From MONACA. Responsible for the sound production of NieR:Automata. In order to make the Osaka and Tokyo concerts a success, he goes all out with the MONACA staff.
The concert’s existence is thanks to the fans and as the best reward for the developers
Now that a bit of time has passed since the release of the game, I’d like to take this chance to ask you of various spoilers… Since time is restricted today, I’ll have Yoko give his comments on the next day to supplement your impressions of today’s very first NieR:Automata concert, as well as future plans for the game.
Yoko: I see, acknowledged.
With that said, I’d like to truly congratulate you on the realization of today’s concert. What are your impressions now that the first performance, the Osaka performance has ended?
Okabe: Speechless. The progress for the concert this time was really cutting it close, we were doing various adjustments right up to before the concert started.  To get it all over with, we had to do our first rehearsal on the day before, let alone the day of the concert. I hope the fans will be satisfied with what we have to offer.
The concert was amazing! I was watching from the audience seat and I could hear a lot of people crying within the seats around me, I was crying too of course.
Saito: I was crying the entire time. To the point that my tear glands are possibly destroyed. Yoko did cry too, right?
Yoko: Yes. I cried without realizing it.
Taura: I was wailing as well. To the point that I ran out of tissue. It was tough from the very beginning, the part I really cried at was the part with Beauvoir. I personally like fast pace music but, the memories of mid-production revived and I couldn’t bear it.
Yoko: You sure those tears were only meant for those hard times?  (weakly laughs)
Taura: Not at all… It was definitely a hard time, but in turn it meant that it was memorable. Other than that, the “Song of the Ancients” coupled with the NieR:Automata and NieR Replicant/Gestalt footage of Devola and Popola went really well together.
I’m sure this goes the same for the fans as well, that this concert is the greatest reward for the developers.
Okabe: There’s the Tokyo performance after this and we’d like to show the audience an enhanced performance.
By the way, who coordinated the footage played at the back of the stage?
Okabe: We’ve gotten a vendor this time to coordinate the footage and we’ve made the one in charge have a proper understanding of NieR. The finished product was immensely satisfactory. But of course, Yoko was supervising it all.
Yoko: I only supervised it. I felt that this time, the significance of the Recital Drama was very, very severe. I don’t ever want to put myself in such mayhem ever again.
Saito: Since the limited tickets came with the Recital Drama script, we did intend on sending it out to the customers, “We have till the day itself for the script, so whatever”, is what we’d like to say. Our very own publication department had the color drained from their faces.
Yoko: Saito made the rash decision of making different scripts for each performance….
Saito: What! It was Yoko who said he wanted to do a Recital Drama. (laughs)
Yoko: Well, that’s true but, I didn’t say I’d write a new script for each and every 5 performances you know.
Saito: Well that can’t be helped. It’s tough getting all 5 of the voice actors to come in on the same day, it’s something that needed to be arranged pretty early on. They’re all such busy people you know?
I see, that’s a valid reason.
Saito: At first Yoko wanted to get a boys’ choir in but that was obviously impossible. Even then, we made a move to somehow get a hold of the venue for the concert, as well as sending out offers to the voice actors….. It was a lot of work. Especially for today’s Osaka performance, we were fortunate enough to have 9S’ voice actor, Hanae Natsuki, present. Hanae had “Oha Suta” to attend to early in the morning on the following day, so I thought he’d turn down the offer. But, Hanae himself said he would definitely attend and with that, we got 2B’s voice actor, Ishikawa Yui, and Pod 153’s voice actor, Akiyama Kaoru, together and brought their collaboration to life.
[1] Oha Suta (おはスタ Oha Suta) is a children's TV show which airs in Japan in the morning on Monday to Friday, and it is produced by TV Tokyo.
All that trouble was worth it, the Recital Drama was amazing. 9S kept dying as usual, Hanae seemed a bit pitiful. (weakly laughs)
Saito: I was able to watch the rehearsals on the day of the concert, my first at that. When it comes down to the real thing, they perform amazingly.
I took a look at the scripts for all 5 performances and it was shocking.
Yoko: Was it?
It was full of content that could’ve been put into the game itself. It wasn’t something that you could classify as side story content.
Taura: I know what you mean. Without much thought, I wanted to make a certain scene like this(within the game)….. It came spontaneously to mind.
Right. I wish you guys included it in the game.
Taura: Included in the game, huh.
Yoko: No way, that’s out of the question! (weakly laughs)
Saito: Well, you could say that it’s a concert-only special content. We have a super big surprise prepared for the last day as well. I’m looking forward to seeing the fan’s reactions.
I’m sure the fans are rather delighted with the Recital Drama itself, as well as the supplementary footage.
Saito: Actually, we have made plans to record the audio of the Recital Drama, we might want to release it in some sort of medium.
[2] All the performances’ play audio have been recorded and added to the Blu-ray release of “The Memories of the Puppets”.
It would’ve been ideal to have new in-game footage for the concert.... I think.
Yoko: I see. If Square Enix funds us then, Platinum Games would, well, right?
Taura: Right. If something is given, I can do as much.
Yoko, Taura, you two are making a totally sleazy look. (laughs)
Tumblr media
10th anniversary, the next project? Juicy details about the next project’s plans
At any rate, a million copies sold across the world is quite amazing.
Saito: 1 million copies. It’d be nice if it happened but to think that it actually did happen. As for me, I had a secret goal of “pushing Yoko Taro up to the next level”, and I think I’ve managed to accomplish it. With that, the “World of Yoko Taro” is widely spread.
Yoko: But to be rather honest, I think that the hit (NieR:Automata) is a fluke. Even all the staff involved thinks so too.
Saito: A fluke eh… Well, even if we do make another game, it might not sell as well as Automata did.
Have you managed to investigate as to why Automata achieved a million copies?
Yoko: I have already said this several times, it’s all because of Platinum Games’ strength.
Taura: Oh no, no, no, there are a lot of portions that I thought were good though. Character design by Yoshida Akihiko, music done by MONACA that was newly established by Okabe, Yoko’s leadership power and Saito who produced everything with his power, it’s all filled with great things.
Yoko: What’s wrong, Taura? Ever since I pulled you out into the media, since when were you able to make such a counterattack?
Taura: It’s all thanks to Yoko’s direction. You have my gratitude. (grins)
Yoko: That reply, what are you, a monster?! Your training was a total blunder~ (laughs)
But, making such a high quality game with such little resources is truly amazing to be rather honest.
Taura: It’s because the staff all love “NieR” and due to that, we had an unbelieveable amount of horsepower going on. It was truly the fruit of our labour, I don’t think we’ll ever be able to make such a thing ever again. (weakly laughs)
Saito: Probably not. (laughs) To be able to make something that’s so chock full of content is not easy. I was truly grateful for that.
But, with all the new details revealed in the Recital Play and the World Guide Book, having all that plot assembled together, wouldn’t it be possible to make a sequel or a spin-off? For example, the “The Country of Dawn” or “The Dragoon”, you can expand so much on.
Saito: Hold on a minute there. A spinoff? Who’s gonna be the protagonist? Pascal maybe?
Yoko: Well, I can probably make a 2 hour long story for Pascal. I don’t know if there even is demand for it though.
Platinum Games sure has it rough huh.
Taura: Totally… Especially since we’ve canceled a project. Not to mention the DLC we released on May 2nd, the development on the game itself had already wrapped up, so we’ve only had a few staff to help out with the DLC. It was tougher than I expected.
And with the Square Enix’s and Platinum Game’s CEO making an appearance in the game, surely must’ve gathered controversy. (laughs)
Yoko: That was only but a factor. At first the additional costumes were gonna be about 1800 yen, but that was way too expensive for what it was so, adding in a simple side story and a colosseum, with the addition of a lower price of 1500 yen, as well as adding another extra of the CEO fight… Well, I think it’s all satisfactory content.
Tumblr media
With the concert ended and the DLC already released, has “NieR:Automata” reached it’s end?
Saito: I wonder. The next thing would probably be, for example, in 3 years time, the “NieR” 10th year anniversary. I daydream about what we should do for it. By then, I have no idea what we’d (the team) all be doing. My liver has been in quite bad shape after all...
Yoko: Me too. We’ll just leave the rest to the next generation. All I’ve been thinking is how I’m gonna die.
Please don’t say that. (weakly laughs) A 10th year anniversary is splendid isn’t it? I have great expectations for it.
Saito: This is all still some far ways off but, as long as the fans love the “NieR” title, we will somehow push something out. And with that, everyone, please continue to forever support the “NieR” series.
Thank you very much for today!
Tumblr media
Additional questions for Yoko Taro
On the following day, we asked the Director, Yoko Taro, some questions about his worldview of the story of NieR:Automata (in a super rushed fashion). This Q&A is completely non-edited so please read on. We will also ask questions to Yoko about the currently-on-sale Strategy Guide and the World Guide Book, so for those who are curious about the mysteries that lies within, please do check it out!
Q: In the game, we’ve seen Yorha units clash against each other, so if there ever was a scenario where 2B, 9S and A2 duke it out against each other, which model would be the absolute strongest?
Yoko: The E model is the strongest. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: Even though A2 and 2B are the same “No. 2” types, are their “Self Data” the same? Also, is it possible to implant A2’s Memory Data into 2B?
Yoko: A2 and 2B both have different Self Data. It is possible to do the implant. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: Despite being the same “No. 2” Type, when 9S first encountered A2, why did it feel like 9S had such a weak reaction in that encounter?
Yoko: It’s because he didn’t notice. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: Despite 2B being killed right before 9S’ eyes, why did he harbor such strong hate towards A2?
Yoko: Did it look like he hated her? Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: In the World Guide Book as well as the Recital Drama’s script we saw the inclusion of the unsightly transcription of the “Country of Dawn” and the “Country of Night”. Could you give us some details about this?
Yoko: In the World of “NieR”, in the past, the Earth’s axis had been distorted, because of that, a perpetuity of a world of day and a world of night exists. I wrote this reply in a hurry so from here on out I will skip the details.
Q: From the Recital Drama, we now know that the one who conceived the “YoRHa Project” is Zinnia, as well as No.9 who knew of his plans. Is it safe to assume that No.9 and 9S are the exact same model?
Yoko: The names are different hence the model is different. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: Of all things, why did No.9 decide to help Zinnia with the “YoRHa Project”, despite being full of spite against the Project?
Yoko: There has been a misunderstanding. No.9 did not resent the YoRHa Project, rather, at the design of YoRHa units (The Black Box). Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: Is there a reason as to why Zinnia and Pod042 share the same voice actor (Yasumoto)?
Yoko: It is because Zinnia is Pod042’s personal data prototype. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
Q: In the Recital Drama, there was no passage pertaining A2’s awakening, is it safe to assume that she woke up somewhere?
Yoko: If anything, “to assume” is all up to you. Since this reply was written in a hurry, I will skip the details.
