Solas:
HATE: - "Ugh. *Stabs you stabs you stabs*"
Shin Tsukimi:
BOTH: - "The son of a bitch has trauma, understandable, but to bear with it he basically screws us all the time. You literally CANT believe a single word out of his fucking mouth because you always end up finding out how he lied later on. HE IS A BACKSTABBER. Now, the question is, did I think he deserved to die? Well, yes but no. I cant say I wouldnt be happy seeing him screwed, but at the same time I would kill everyone in this room and then myself. This bitch has trauma, and sadly, I love this fuvking kind of traumatized lying bitches. HE AND KANNA ARE LOVELY OK? AND MIDORI IS EVEN A BIGGER BITCH (enemy of my enemy is my friend, so like, friendzz with shinnn) Tbh I have no idea of what else to say other than this without rambling into spoiler territory mentioning each of the situations I have grudges about. SPOILERS FOR 1-1 AND 2-1:
Reko does not dislike men, nor has she ever disliked men. What she's expressed throughout the game is not a dislike, but rather a distrust. Reko never shows absolute hatred or malice towards another person simply due to them being a man. She even stated something in 1-2 that proves this. When talking about Mishima after he died, Reko had this to say:
"Dammit... Why...? Why'd I go callin' Mishima a nutty professor... Guess it ain't fair to decide he's no good just 'cause he's a man..."
This quote from Reko may come off as her saying she doesn't like men; however, this seems to be more of a distrusting situation than a disliking one. Reko doesn't seem to dislike Mishima in their previous interactions, but rather struggle to trust him due to him being a man. This is a much more apparent conclusion to jump to when you take into account Reko's backstory. If you talk to the Reko AI in 2-1, she reveals information about her parents. Here is what she had to say about her father:
"My old man... Well, he's a good guy... But let's say he gives into temptation. He's not the most true to his convictions. I hated him for the longest time... But he's woken up now, and gone back to his plain and simple personality."
With this quote, it is safe to assume that Reko had a rocky relationship with her father for a while. It is also revealed that in her childhood, Reko's father would often exploit her talents for the sake of money. With that, he likely contributes to her difficulty with trusting men.
Another impactful contribution to Reko's distrust with men is her brother Alice. During the first main game, it is revealed that the two always had a very close relationship and were even in a band together for a while. This comes to an end though when Alice is imprisoned for alleged murder and Reko becomes too shocked to be able to continue singing the band's songs. At the end of 2-1, it is revealed in a flashback scene that as kids, the two had made a promise to form a band together. The disbanding of the band due to Alice's imprisonment can be interpreted as a broken promise between the siblings, especially with this quote from Reko if you choose the Reko lives route:
"You dumbass... You broke... another promise... No... maybe I broke it..."
One last important thing to note is that Reko is seen helping/supporting men when they need it. For instance, in chapter 3, Ranmaru realizes that he is a doll and not a human when he's able to take his hand off on his own. This makes him panic, which leads to this interaction:
Ranmaru: I-I... I'm really... A doll... huh... I-I mean... Sure... I did know that... But still... some part of me just... Thought... "maybe"...
Reko: What does it matter...? It doesn't, right?
Ranmaru: ...Eh...?
Reko: Do dolls cry over shit like that...? Thinking to yourself you've given up, but still havin' hope? That's being a human... Humans always struggle on, dealing with contradictory feelings, right? The way I see it... you're plenty human. So be proud, why don't you? You're alive, Ranmaru...! So stop bein' a wuss and get moving.
Ranmaru seems to find comfort in this, as he stops crying shortly after. Reko didn't hesitate to help Ranmaru when he was in need, even though he is a man. This shows that Reko does not automatically hate somebody for being a man.
In conclusion, Reko does not hate men, nor has she ever. She just has a bad tendency of distrusting men due to trauma she has involving them, namely her dad and her brother.

Note
So... just finished 1-1 of yttd, a few thoughts and questions (I'll keep 'em as spoiler free as I can, despite the fact that you have played it):
The "stalker" is DEFINITELY a red herring, or at least I think they are
Is the ending of 1-1 predetermined, meaning that there's nothing I can do to stop it?
Is there a way to enter the Red Room?
If the answer to number 2 is no or 3 is yes, then I'll have a backup save prepared to go back and figure out how to do it. Also don't feel pressured to answer these if you think it could ruin my experience, just curious
Also, I am very much enjoying the game so far and fear you may have set the wheels turning for a new fixation of the hyper variety, though I doubt I shall really mind it
YEESSS I LOVE INFECTING PPL WITH YTTD im so glad you’re enjoying it so far!! as for your questions….
the ending one 1-1 is predetermined! the choices dont start coming in until the end of chap 2
the red room can be entered!! eventually
i wont say anything else :]

Naomichi Kurumada's Unwavering Spirit and What it Means to Survive
While I understand why people talked more about Sara's minisode compared to Naomichi's, I feel as though many overlooked a few key aspects of his episode that---at least for me---finally convinced me of not only his character but his survival rate.
I will be going over the main game and especially focusing on chapter 3. Additionally, it's been a few months since the minisodes' release, so I will not be marking as spoilers, but I will be putting my analysis and theorizing below the Read More.
If there's one thing that bothered me the most when playing through YTTD, it was the survival rates for all the candidates. I feel as though most are relatively reasonable, and could be thought out fairly well.
Tumblr media
There are a few on here I would contest, but those will be saved for a later analysis. My biggest concern here would be Naomichi's. He barely beat's Keiji's by a whopping 0.4% but I personally feel like something is amiss here. There's the very obvious fact that Naomichi can singlehandedly beat every single person on this list on a 1 on 1 fight (He supplexed Qtaro for crying out loud. No one stands a single chance). However aside from this I do not think it would warrant such a high survival rate.
Think about it for a second. Do you really think, if Naomichi had survived his first trial, that he would've had a good chance of beating the death game? We know from not only his minisode but throughout moments in chapter 3 that he's not the brightest. Obviously he's not dimwitted, but we know from the game that he is rash, quick to action, and easily angered. He does not fully think through his actions before going with them.
Case 1: The Maple Fight
Tumblr media
Throughout this fight, we must not physically engage with Maple whatsoever. She is a complete and utter danger to the group, with no current way to defeat her the only option is to reason with her. During the fight, whenever we choose Naomichi to act, we see him agonizing over the fact he just can't straight up fight her. Naomichi is a man of action, we know this as from his minisode and his career as a boxer, he thinks of actions as his way to interact with others and engage in conflict.
That's why at the end of the fight, when Sara is unable to reconcile with Maple and the group is at a complete loss as to what to do, he doesn't think twice to go up and try to crush her head. He reasoned that, since her attacks come from behind her, this close range means he's not in danger. He doesn't stop to consider the fact that she might have another means to attack, or that she could even lock him in a similar move he did her using the black tendrils coming out from her. The entirety of this time he's been itching to just get in and deal with her the way he knows how to, and ultimately pays the consequences for not thinking it through.
Tumblr media
Case 2: Revenge against Gruusem
During Naomichi's early career as a boxer, we find that he highly respected and admired Kobushi, the mentor that introduced him to the sport. After witnessing the defeat of his fellow boxer, Naomichi was understandably upset. Although it's after beating the boxer that incapacitated his mentor that something in Naomichi was set off.
Tumblr media
Put yourself in Naomichi's place for a moment. You have just defeated the boxer that had brutally beaten the mentor you had looked up to since you were in middle school. A mentor who had teased you about being first rate and second rate fighters, something you've already internalized. A mentor who previously had beaten you and showed you up in power. You have internalized these ideas of being strong and weak for years, and now, just now you are riding the high of a fight and the context of it. You are a hot headed, quick to action punk with adrenaline coursing through your veins and anger deep in your heart.
Naomichi only takes a moment to think, but he does not think over whether he should or shouldn't. He thinks only of his next action. He makes the fight personal and beats Gruusem without a second of hesitation. This goes beyond just being an unsportsmanlike act, this is downright cruel and unjust behavior. Naomichi loses complete control of himself and as a result, completely cripples someone.
Tumblr media
Though, it's during this act that we get what convinced me of Naomichi's character and survival rate. The lines that follow him beating Gruusem go as follows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This kind of line gives me chills, specifically coming from him. Because as of before the episode release, I refused to believe he had the second highest survival rate. And to an extent I still do, but I'll get to that in a moment. What's important here is we finally get to see the unwavering spirit of Naomichi's strive for strength and power. He is fully bought into the line of reasoning that the strong eat the weak, and that by being strong he is in that position of power. This line makes it so interesting that he gets paired with Kanna/Shin, two candidates who are known for their weakness. Additionally, this line implies that he saw himself as weak before, which is why he so urgently and passionately sought the path to strength. If given the right push he would absolutely overpower anyone in his way, hence the nickname Convertible of Destruction. How right this nickname would be.
However, despite having such a strong spirit and me being convinced of his chance in surviving the death game, I still refuse to believe he'd have such a high percent. As proven in my two cases, Naomichi is a rash decision maker. He wouldn't be able to fully rationally think through the schemes and lies other characters would enact. He would respond as he normally would, with action and threats. However, I refuse to believe that he would, if given the chance, get away with fighting and beating the other candidates and participants to incapacity or death. If the Memorandum Theory is to be the route Nankidai is taking, there is no chance Naomichi would've gotten away with violently winning the death game. The death game was set up so intricately and carefully, the floormasters are all there for a reason. Even without considering the Memorandum Theory, it's difficult to think that they'd let him win like this. For as much as Midori endorses a bloodbath of a game, in reality there could be no such case. The death game must be played, the death game must adhere to the strict rules that have been put in place.
Which brings me to my final point. The survival rates for all the participants have been toyed with in some way. This isn't a new idea, as the Memorandum Theory suggests the same thing. I would like to suggest that rather being some sort of interference either with simulations or otherwise, it was a simple case of switching around the rates. There's the possibility of some being deliberately written wrong, but I think it's more likely the case that a few were switched. Given everything I've laid out here and what we know in canon, I personally would assign Naomichi a survival rate starting anywhere from 7% and as low as 5%, so putting him in the range from no higher than Mai Tsurugi and as low as Ranmaru Kageyama.
Of course all this is speculation by now, but in my mind it makes sense. There are a few outliers that help my reasoning with this, but as this is a Naomichi centric post, I'll keep that to their respective analysis. Perhaps when the final part comes out more will come to light and my theory will be entirely proven wrong, but we'll have to wait until then.

KIMI GA SHINE - THE MASTER ANALYSIS - Chapter 1-1: Prologue (SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE GAME)
So, after some deliberation, I’ve decided to do a daily blog thing where I play through the entirety of YTTD, go through every route and scene and also watch through the minisodes before then doing an analysis of everything within it…
What better place to start than the beginning, eh?
Tumblr media
We begin the game off with an ominous silhouette asking us one simple question. “Do you know what a majority vote is?”. At the beginning of the game when there is barely any context, this scene serves as a helpful way to introduce the core concept of majority votes to us. Our friend, Shadow the Beaniehog over here gives us a simple demo of a majority vote with two options that are, ironically, positions regarding majority votes. There is not much to say about the dichotomy between Mr. Blue and Ms. Red in this scene other that they represent compliance and defiance to majority votes. Whoever we choose, the other one dies which foreshadows the concept of the Main Game very early on. A majority vote to choose who is killed. Compliance and defiance to majority votes are things we will discuss in other scenes, because they are themes that become important.
Beyond the apparent stuff we can glean from this scene, we can also analyse it from our present point of view in hindsight. This scene at the very beginning is meant to make you distrust the character we come to know as “Sou Hiyori” (the name taken on by the body of Shin Tsukimi) it makes you suspicious and wary of him from the get go and makes you primed for his betrayal and “nice persona” to fall. When in reality, this scene is being conveyed to Shin himself. Beyond this scene being just an introduction, we are literally seeing how the fear of death was being injected into Shin like poison, forcing him to take the “Sou Hiyori” persona and becoming the catalyst for 2/3 of the game’s conflict. This is also, technically, the first time we get to see Midori (or atleast a warped yet accurate perception of him, I’ll elaborate more when we actually get to Shin reflecting on this in 2-2). The shadow teasing and mocking the player is also such a good use of subverting expectations. It makes us think that Shin/Sou is going to be a prick (which he is, don’t get me wrong) but also, the reality is that Shin is the one that the shadow is mocking in a malicious tone, cornering him into a situation he can’t get out of.
It’s interesting how the first scene of the game we see ends up being about Shin when he’s not even protagonist. I’d say that our actual protagonist, Sara and Shin are both equally important and crucial to the story. But speaking of Sara…
Tumblr media
Our next scene (or less of a scene, more of a 10 second moment) features the main girl, Sara Chidouin! This scene is another one meant to sow suspicion and distrust within us (even though it’s not aimed at anyone in particular) as two long arms reach out seemingly about to grab Sara. You can make various assumptions from this, that these arms belong to the kidnappers and this is the scene where Sara is being kidnapped to the Death Game, but it’s be wrong. With the benefit of hindsight, we know that this is Keiji reuniting with Sara during the Banquet after Ranmaru locked him in the lockers. It’s a small sliver of content that hints at the dynamic between Sara and Keiji, one of the most important dynamics in the game coming just before Sara and Joe’s dynamic and Sara and Shin/Sou’s dynamic. Again, a scene that comes off as frightening ends up being a moment of reunion and confidence.
These two scenes do help illustrate one of (what I see as) the themes of the game. Of trusting those who are in the same situation as you, as trying to connect with your fellow human beings. These scenes try to sow distrust but end up being subvertations from the truth (Shin’s real persona being masked by a defence of malice, Keiji being a supportive person to Sara despite what he does at the beginning of the game)
Let me know if you have any criticisms, or disagree with what I’m saying!

🪓🃏🌹 :O
🪓If you could design a first trial, what would you do?
OOOOH that IS a question! I think i'd do something like sou's honestly? like-- giving someone knowledge of how certain pairs are connected, or which two have some kind of link (without specifying said link). That would give mystery participant information like the percentages, but with no context all they could say was 'yeah those two are connected somehow but is it enemies? siblings? rivals? whats the link' and therefore making them suspicious of everyone and more sus themselves <3
🃏Which card would you most want to have in a Main Game?
this is just bc im a lore nerd but HONESTLY? sage. I know its easy to die with it but DAMMIT I WANNA KNOW WHO THE KEYMASTER IS! I cant lie for anything but i CAN puzzle things out, and by knowing the keymaster I can figure out the sacrifice! i know the obvious answer is to pick keymaster to, yknow, not die but. the lore calls to me
🌹Kanna route or Shin route?
CAN I SAY BOTH? i think the kanna route hits SO different after playing the shin route honestly. You can FEEL the difference and its so stark?? Sou's route has everyone kinda morbing and going insane (ranmaru <3), and there is SUCH a fascinating back and forth dynamic between midori and sou that it kinda draws you in! Like-- the history there is tense and clearly sou is still hurting over it and AAA It hits. Kanna's hits different after sou's because Kanna is such a joy to be around?/ shes single handedly bringing the group together, and its so clear that shes trying to live for Sou,,, GREENBLINGS REAL,, tldr that because the two are so so so linked, i kinda have to see them as a pair! greenblings route vs cursed greenblings route heheh

ok listen i finished outer wilds yesterday (and just replayed the ending for good measure)
**SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING (OBVIOUSLY)** please note i do NOT have the completed ship log and i dont know what im missing so be cautious around spoilers?? i guess?? idk if i get spoiled its kinda my bad for posting about outer wilds
anyway!! my girlfriend was like "wow you didnt have an emotional reaction like at all" and 1. no i was tearing up and am still tearing up rn but 2. because i don't think it was that sad? yes, everyone dying and the sun exploding and shit just getting fucking real was tragic but it was also a new beginning
all of those stars we saw were new beginnings, hell even hearthians themselves were once new beginnings i don't see this game as a tragedy i see it as a cycle of ends and beginnings like the cycle of repeatedly being blown up by the sun, except it wasn't permanent, so new life couldn't build from the pain we endured (i have roughly 158 loops worth of gameplay. christ.) in order to have a beginning you have to have an end i remember thinking my goal was to prevent the sun from exploding, but ultimately that wasn't possible our only option was to accept our fate and prepare for what comes next things have to die for more things to live and it just so happened it was our turn to die (hey yttd reference)
anyway the point i'm making is i think this game was incredible, stunning, beautiful, and an important depiction of the real permanence of our existence one day will be our end, but that will create a new beginning, we just won't be there to see it

I know 4 death games and all of them are unique in terms of necessity to harm others and general atmosphere:
(may contain minor spoilers concerning organisation of each death game)
Danganronpa is a killing game, however, there is a choice for potential blackened whether to kill or not to kill. Responsibility, while shared with kidnappers, lies heavily on murderers' shoulders (with some exceptions), because usually it's their conscious decision to off somebody and they often even do the dirty work. What Monokuma does is he phycologically pressures students and executes the blackened. The atmoshpere is scary and distrust is thriving despite more-or-less comfortable conditions. But technically, everybody could live together without bloodshed.
In Yttd somebody will die no matter what, at least two people each main game. I feel like while participants did influence or outright choose who's turn to die came, it was simply because they had no other option. If it's not them, it's somebody else. And choosing between "somebody else 1" and "somebody else 2" is compulsory. Plus, there are plenty of dangers beside people: first trials, death attractions, traps and so on. I'd say their situation was horrible both phycologically and physically (they didn't even get to shower until Ranger permitted, as far as I remember).
In Zero escape 999 technically it would be beneficial to work together, solving puzzles and escaping through number 9 door, so I would say that these guys have the least number of reasons to be distrustful toward one another inicially as they don't exactly have to kill... On the other hand, at first choice of who gets to move forward it seems the ones left behind are doomed. They have time pressing on them, Zero explained that there were bombs inside them that can blow up under certain conditions, plus some rooms are quite dangerous. Thus, potential poor choices are consequences of both kidnappers' actions and selfish decisions of captives. And to be honest, situation is too complicated to be described because the reasons for poor choices can be too individual in comparison to other games here.
In Exit/corners kidnapper simply states that the goal is to leave the hotel, but characters are named Contestants for some reason, which gives rise to questions. What are they competing for? Do they have to be the last one standing? As they have to get out of hotel they have some basic comfort, but there wasn't enough time to truly relax. Solving puzzles seems not lethal at first but some rooms may be more perilous than others. They also have time limit of 24 hours and something else is going on with at least one of them...

hi guys i'm back with another reddit post
SPOILERS FOR YTTD 2-1
AITA for destroying my brother's apology gift?
For background, I (F23) used to have a good relationship with my brother (M26). We were once in a band together with two other members. During this time, my brother bought me a set of bongos as a joke. One day, he got arrested and sent to prison for killing a man, which crushed me more than I could even begin to describe. Our band had to disband since I was in so much shock that I could no longer sing our songs. I started to resent my brother for all the pain he caused me, and for putting our band and our reputations in the music industry in jeopardy. Eventually, I formed a new band where I played the bongos my brother gifted me.
Eventually, my brother and I reunited in a death game setting, where we ultimately agreed to remain as strangers. There was an area where we could spend tokens to buy something depending on whose tokens were used. Almost everyone was trading their tokens with each other including me and my brother. Somehow, my brother got enough of my tokens to be able to buy my bongos from the concession area. With that, he decided to regift my bongos to me as an apology gift in hopes of reconciling with me. This filled me with so many emotions, mainly anger and frustration. Thus, I threw the bongos to the ground, which destroyed them, and I shunned my brother for even trying to make things right between us. We agreed to stay strangers, so why suddenly try to change how things are?
Some of the other people in the death game said I was wrong for what I did, but I feel that it was only necessary to make myself clear with my brother. So, Reddit, AITA?
