You sipped your iced coffee as you waited for Billy, Zak, and Aaron to head towards the car. Jay offered to stay behind at the hotel and fix a few of the broken cameras. So, you were going to pick up some dinner for him on the way back.
“C’mon slow pokes! I’m hungry!” you whined playfully as Billy approached you. You waited just outside the front doors of the hotel, staring through the opened, glass automatic doors at your approaching friend and your husband.
Billy nudged you, grinning. Oh, boy, what now? He pulled on the straw to his iced coffee very slowly, letting out a hollow scraping sound that was like nails on a chalkboard. You grinned.
“The sound that drives Zak Bagans crazy,” he whispered, winking. You nodded.
“Wait until we get in the car. I’ll follow your lead,” you muttered back, returning his gesture. You both laughed in agreement.
“What’s so funny, babe?” Zak asked as he wrapped his arm around your waist. You shook your head.
“Nothing. Just an inside joke,” you responded innocently, kissing his cheek. “Now c’mon, I’m getting super hungry, and you promised me true Chicago pizza.” Your husband laughed and rolled his eyes, then turned the two of you towards the car.
Once the four of you were in your seats, Billy put the van in drive, and headed for the restaurant. You were seated behind Zak, where Jay usually sat, gently running your fingernails up and down the back of his neck. It wasn’t sexual, at least not like this. No, this was something that soothed him and relaxed his otherwise racing mind, and neither of the guys even questioned it.
He leaned his head back against the headrest and closed his eyes, letting out a deep breath. Billy glanced over at you, holding his drink on one hand and the steering wheel in another. You simply grinned, to which he nodded.
He leaned toward his drink to take a quick sip. As he lifted his head back up, he pulled the straw up, unleashing a low screech that filled the car. The moment Zak heard the sound, his shoulders shot up, tensing.
“Gah! Really, Bill? God, I hate that noise.” Zak scrunched his nose and peered away. Billy just smiled and took another sip.
You leaned back into your seat since Zak was too far to reach now, and sighed. Then, you lifted your drink to your lips and took a sip, allowing the straw to stick to your bottom lip, releasing another awful squeak.
“Y/N!” Zak boomed. You just chuckled.
“Sorry, babe. It was an accident,” you mumbled. Aaron chuckled beside you, peering up from his phone. Billy glanced back at you again and smiled, then he turned up the radio.
The beginning of Queen’s Somebody to Love was playing, giving you an idea. Billy grinned to himself, somehow agreeing telepathically. That’s why he was your best friend.
He started toying with his straw as it sat in the cupholder beside him. He pulled it up and down, making noises that were almost perfectly in rhythm with the instrumental part of the song. Oh, he was talented.
Once the vocals started, you tried your hardest to move your straw in sync, not doing quite as well as Billy. But, you were close, and that’s all you cared about.
Zak’s whole body tensed, and he slammed his hands over his ears.
“What circle of Hell have I just entered?! Gahh!” Zak shrieked as he shook his head. Aaron cackled hysterically beside you and danced to your horrid orchestra of squeals.
You sang along with the piercing shrills, which apparently sent Zak over the edge.
“Stop the car,” Zak growled. Billy laughed but let go of his straw.
“Aw, babe, you don’t like my singing?” you whined as you leaned forward, holding onto the seat in front of you.
“Stop. The. Car.” Zak clenched his jaw. For a moment, your stomach flipped. Was he really that mad? Sure, he was sensitive, but he never truly got mad at you for pranks. This wasn’t even close to the worst thing the two of you had done to him. But this time, he seemed genuinely pissed.
“Dude, calm down. We’re just messing with you,” Billy snapped back, sensing your concern as he shot you another look. You were slowing at a red light, and a small part of you hoped Zak wouldn’t fly out of the car the moment you stopped.
“Do you two want me to go deaf? Or completely nuts?” Zak’s tone was serious, but you couldn’t help but laugh, instantly feeling a little better.
“Well, you’re already nuts, Zak,” you poked, hoping for a smile. You got one, along with an eye roll.
“You married me,” he retorted with a dry chuckle. You laughed at that, his relaxing tone calming you again.
“I didn’t know you guys were so musically talented,” Aaron commented beside you.
“Thanks, man. We have band rehearsal twice a week,” Billy joked, picking up his drink again. Zak eyed him with a glare.
“If that straw makes even the faintest noise, I’m throwing it out the window,” Zak hissed as he stared out of his window. Billy chuckled just as he took a sip, nearly sending coffee straight out of his nose.
“Okay, Bagans, let’s get you some food. We’re almost there. You get cranky when you’re hungry.”
Zak rolled his eyes again. “Yeah, especially when my very sanity was just pushed to the brink of nonexistence.”
“Sorry, hun,” you whispered to him, running your fingers down the back of his neck again. He didn’t pull away, which made you smile. “Billy and I will save our band practice for when you’re not around,” you teased. Zak huffed a sharp sigh and leaned back into your touch.
“I’d appreciate it,” he muttered with a smile as the car pulled to a stop.
“Now let’s eat. I’m starving,” you muttered as you opened your car door. The moment you lifted from your seat, you were met by Zak’s tall, muscular frame. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against him.
He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and lightly squeezed you. “I’m not mad.” Another kiss on your forehead. “But when we get in there, neither of you are allowed to have a straw.” You busted into laughter and pulled away.
“Oh, so I’m on straw probation?” You cocked an eyebrow.
“For lack of a better phrase, yeah. You are.” His arm slithered around your shoulders and he led you toward the building.

TAKING REQUESTS!
Because I am on a hiatus from updating this month while my stories are beta read, I am taking story requests!
Please keep in mind that your requests may take a month or two to complete and will probably be completed in the form of a one shot. I only write novel-length stories on request of friends and longtime readers/reviewers. Also, please don't request smut stories. I don't write them. If you want me to write you a lemon, you have to give me a request with a romantic plotline that warrants one. Finally, I do NOT write reader-insert stories. If you want to be in a story, give me your name (or any name you like) and description. I'm a plotline driven writer and to write reader-inserts you have to cut out a lot of the plotlines to keep Y/N generic enough to fit just about every reader.
I am currently only taking requests for the following fandoms/people:
Duane Lee Chapman
Dakota Chapman
Smallville (Lex and Lionel are my preferred leading men. I will NEVER pair either one with Lana so don't even bother asking. Lois, Chloe, and OFC's ONLY)
Supernatural(As long as you don't ask me to write Cas stories, wincest, or slash...I'll probably write it.)
General Hospital (Sonny/anyone but Sam, Jason/Anyone but Sam and this includes OFC's...although I've never written a gh OFC character before.)
Criminal Minds (Rossi/any female but Emily, Reid/Anyone but JJ or Emily, and Morgan/Garcia...I REFUSE to write Morgan with anyone else PERIOD!)
Zak Bagans
Tom Felton
Shemar Moore
Prince Harry
Arrow (Dig/any female)
Harry Potter (I won't write slash, incest, or stories featuring Snape or Ron as leading men...can't really stand Ron and I miss Alan Rickman too much to write Snape)
Once Upon a Time (RumBelle, EvilCharming, GoldenSwan, whatever the hell Neil and Emma's ship name is)
The Breakfast Club (Bender/Claire ONLY)
The Phantom of the Opera (Erik/Christine, Erik/Meg, Erik/OFC)
Eminem
JC Chasez (Is it wrong that I put a member of *NSYNC directly below Eminem? lol)
Scrubs (Dr. Cox/OFC, Janitor/Elliot)
Leland Chapman (He's back in the mix, ladies. Visit my blog to find out why.)
The Mindy Project (Danny/Mindy pre second breakup, seasons 1-3, episode related encouraged. Will also CONSIDER Danny/OFC)

Slow Your Roll
Zak Bagans x Reader
Word Count: 666 (oops)
Warnings: some flirting, otherwise just fluff. No real plot, and poorly edited (as usual).
My Master List
Tumblr media
You pressed the record button on your camera, then nodded to Zak. He smiled, then started his newest intro to the location the team was investigating. When he did his introductions, he slowly walked as he talked, always keeping in mind that the person or people filming him were walking backwards. But, today, he was extra amped. That being said, this was his fifth take because he kept practically running you over.
“This location is one of the darkest we’ve encountered in a long time,” Zak boomed as he rushed his way down the hallway. His voice was stern, and his movements were fluid. He was back in the zone.
And walking way too fast again.
You tried to catch up with his pace, and keep your camera balanced on your shoulder, but he was doing it again. He got this way at locations where the activity started early. He was over six feet tall, and you were quite a bit shorter. Your legs couldn’t keep up with him.
And, like every other time today, your camera leaned backwards, and you lost your balance.
“Shit!” you screamed as you finally lost your footing.
“Geez, Y/N!” Zak huffed as he reached out for you, grabbing your wrist. Your camera fell onto the carpet behind you, most likely a little damaged from the impact. But, unlike the last few times, you never hit the floor. Zak’s grip on your wrist held.
He pulled you against him, chuckling lightly. “I’m so sorry, babe. At least I caught you this time.” You nodded, offering a slightly shaky smile.
“Yeah, I know. You’re just excited about this location. But maybe Jay should film this part. I don’t need to break another camera.” You pulled back a little and grounded yourself. “I don’t want to dull your enthusiasm.” You leaned up and kissed his cheek, making him smile.
“You only add to it, babe. I can guarantee that.” Zak winked, then stole a kiss from your lips. “But, you’re right. I don’t want to run you over again. You can film the interviews after this.” You nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, Jay has longer legs than me,” you teased, peering down the hall at your friend. “And he’ll hold up better if he gets run over.” The two of you laughed, and he pulled you close again.
“Just try not to distract me during the interviews, alright gorgeous?” He held your chin up with his index finger and cocked an eyebrow. You grinned.
“No promises,” you whispered. Zak pulled you closer and kissed you again. This time, he lingered, capturing your bottom lip between his before gently pulling away.
You smiled up and him, then turned toward your camera, which lay in two pieces on the floor. You sighed, then turned back to Zak.
“Well, at least it was just the external mic that came off. That’s easily fixed,” you muttered hopefully. Zak chuckled behind you, before calling for Jay to come over. Jay stared down at the camera in your hands, then at you, quickly asking if you were okay.
“Don’t worry, Zak at least caught me this time.” Jay stared at his friend and rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I’ll tag you out. We don’t need to add to the ghosts in this place.” He peered over at Zak. “Plus, she’d haunt your ass forever, Z.” You cackled and hugged Jay’s shoulders, then hauled the remnants of your camera toward the set up area. You hoped Aaron and Billy would help you piece everything back together before the interviews started.
Before meeting the guys back at the RV, you peered down the hall at Zak and Jay. Jay was filming Zak as he rushed his way down the hall, just like before. Jay stumbled a few times, but kept his balance.
You smiled, admiring Zak’s wide grin and rapid hand movements. You loved his passion for what you all did. You just hoped he saved some of that enthusiasm for the lockdown.

Bucket of Snakes
Zak Bagans x Reader, Billy Tolley x BestFriend!Reader
Warnings: brief mention of blood, other than that it’s just goofy shenanigans. Oh, and poorly edited as usual. Haha.
Word Count: 1,649
A/N: I had a few ideas for this theme, and I might make it a drabble collection. I haven’t decided yet. Also, who wouldn’t want to set up a prank with Billy?
My Full Master List
Tumblr media
You danced in the passenger seat of Billy’s car, hoping to set your plan in motion before Zak returned home. For now, Aaron and Jay were keeping him occupied with yet another game of golf, which allowed you and your best friend just enough time to set up your latest prank.
And this one was your best yet.
You held your phone up and started filming your excitement. Billy was already planning on having Jay film the entire prank but having a silly little intro wouldn’t hurt.
“Heading to the Bagans Manor with a bucket of snakes,” you sang to your phone. Billy chuckled beside you.
“I hope you aren’t on Instagram live or something. We need to keep this a secret.” You rolled your eyes, still filming, and turned to the driver.
“Dude, how many pranks have we done so far? I’m not going to spoil it,” you scoffed. “That’s a rookie move, Tolley.” You stuck your tongue out, then turned back to your phone. You wiggled your shoulders and smiled. “Heading to the Bagans Manor with a bucket of snakes,” you continued with a giggle.
You turned the phone back over to Billy, who just smiled, Starbucks drink in hand. He cheered the camera. “The saga continues.”
Tumblr media
As Billy pulled into the driveway, your body hummed with excitement. The moment the car stopped, you leapt out and raced for the truck. You opened the door and grinned at the plain white bucket.
“He’s going to hate us for this one.” You reached for the bucket, then skipped up the driveway to the door.
You unlocked the door and waited for Billy to grab the rest of the gear. You peered around him and stared at the car, which was parked dead-center in the middle of the driveway.
“You think we should move that over a little? Jay is going to text me when they’re on the way back, but I don’t want to have to worry about parking on the street.” You reached out for the bucket that Billy was carrying and nodded towards the car.
“Yeah, probably a good idea.”
While Billy went to move his car, you made your way to Zak’s favorite room. It didn’t really have a title, but it best resembled a creepy, fucked up mancave. It looked like a partial library with a grand table in the middle, like where vampires would meet and have a blood tasting party or some shit. Right before leaving for a lockdown, Zak, you, and the crew and would all gather in there and go over travel plans.
And this is where Billy, Jay, and you usually went over evidence after a lockdown.
You gently placed the buckets onto the hardwood floor and smiled. It was going to be a piece of cake to get that bucket overhead. You knew there was a ladder in the garage, and Billy was surprisingly knowledgeable in rigging traps like this.
Once Billy got back from moving the car, he started unpacking the tools while you went in search for the ladder. You knew last saw it on the wall next to where you parked your car. And, luckily, that’s exactly where it was.
Lugging that ladder to the other side of the huge house wasn’t an easy feat, but you managed to do it without breaking anything. Honestly, that alone was deserving of a medal. Zak wasn’t exactly a sparce decorator.
“Okay, I’ll hold the ladder and you can—”
“Oh no,” Billy interrupted, his eyes narrowing. “You’re younger and far nimbler that I am. There’s no fucking way I’m getting on that thing. I’ll break a hip.” You rolled your eyes and sighed.
“Fine, old man, just hold the damn thing still. I don’t want Zak coming home to a broken fiancé.”
Tumblr media
“It’s beautiful. Our best work yet,” you boasted as you stared up at your handy work, hands on your hips. Billy chuckled beside you.
“It’s pretty genius,” he agreed. “Have you heard from Jay?
Shit. You hadn’t looked at your phone in ages.
“Uh, hold on.” You pulled your phone out of your back pocket and studied the screen.
Two New Text Messages: Jay Wasley
Jay: Hey, we are leaving now. Do you need us to buy you more time?
Jay: We’re five minutes out. I hope you guys are ready.
“Shit, Jay said they were five minutes out three minutes ago. They will be here any minute!” You rushed to your usual spot, in the living room. You turned the TV on and tried to look comfortable while Billy plopped down into the leather chair beside you.
The moment you two settled, you heard the sound of car doors slamming. The sound sent a shock wave of nervous tingles through your body. There’s no turning back now.
“If he gets pissed off and calls off the wedding, I’m blaming you,” you whispered as the door opened. Zak’s distant voice filled the air.
“He better not. I already bought my groomsman tux—”
“Hey there, couch potatoes. How was your day?” Zak greeted as he entered the room. You beamed up at him and smiled.
“Hey!” He leaned down and kissed the top of your head.
“Did you get through any of the footage?” Zak gently rubbed your shoulders as he stood behind the couch.
“Uh, no. Not really. We went to get lunch, then went into a food coma. Plus, it’s a shit ton of footage. We thought all of us could go through it together.” You stared up at Zak, who just smiled.
“I mean, sure. It was a two-part lockdown, so I’m sure there’s a lot to look at.” He glanced over at Billy, who was staring down on his phone. “You guys almost out of your food coma?” You nodded, then slowly lifted off the couch.
“I’ll go set up the computers,” Billy announced, stepping in front of you. “Jay, you wanna help real quick?” You watched as Jay nodded. He was nominated to film the plan in motion.
“How was your game?” you asked, trying to distract Zak are a moment. Aaron immediately start laughing.
“You mean other than almost falling into the pond?” You laughed with him.
“Wait, what?” You turned and stared at Zak, who rolled his eyes.
“Dude, they definitely moved that pond! I don’t remember it being there before!” Zak scoffed. You raised an eyebrow.
“Wait, the pond by the eighth hole?” You turned back to Aaron. You had been invited to play with them a few times, not that golf was your best sport. Usually, you and Aaron tried to beat each other on who could have the worst game.
Zak sighed. “It wasn’t there before!” He was adamant and he wasn’t backing down.
“Okay, babe. But, if you really want to go swimming, we can always just go to Aaron’s place. The last thing you need is to get E. Coli from all that goose crap.” You had to tease him one more time. He was so adorable when he got embarrassed. “Now, let’s go see what Billy and Jay are up to.” Zak just sighed and nodded.
The three of you headed up to Zak’s favorite room. You led the way, wanting to look back as the whole thing played out. Zak was right behind you, followed by Aaron.
Butterflies filled your stomach as you neared the hall. You turned into the first door on the right, then gave your signal, before spinning on your heels. The moment you turned around, Zak passed through the doorway. In an instant, Billy pulled the rope, emptying the large bucket of snakes onto the unsuspecting target.
“What the Fu—Ahhh!” Zak shrieked and nearly leapt into Aaron’s arms. You, Billy, and Jay all immediately erupted in laughter, followed by Aaron. Zak grasped onto Aaron’s arm for dear life, staring wide-eyed at the dozens of plastic and rubber snakes that now littered the floor.
“Oh my god, look at the terror in his eyes!” Billy cackled as he doubled over, holding his stomach.
“Zak, man, I can’t feel my arm. It’s okay, Z.” Aaron pulled away from Zak, but Zak barely moved. You peered back at Jay, who was still recording, then back at Zak.
“Babe?” For a moment, you were afraid that you had given him an aneurysm or something. Zak’s widened eyes slowly locked on you.
“Fuck you, Y/N.” His voice was low and stern. He slowly loosened his grip on Aaron as he studied the snakes on the floor. “This is why you fuckers haven’t looked at any evidence yet.”
You burst into laughter. “Yeah, well, it was worth it,” you retorted. Billy nodded beside you, agreeing.
“Is this what I have to look forward to now?” Zak finally caught his breath and stepped cautiously over the snakes, towards you. “Am I always going to be looking over my shoulder?”
You grinned. “You knew what you were in for, babe.”
“Dude, we’ve been pranking you since before you two started dating, and you still proposed,” Billy defended, patting Zak’s shoulder. “Don’t call off the wedding now. That tux was expensive.”
Zak laughed, then wrapped his arm around your shoulder. “Oh, I’m not calling anything off.” He yanked you tightly against him and leaned in, his lips hovering just inches from your ear. “But I’m not the only one who should be looking over my shoulder. Revenge is swift, and someone in this room may just be a double-agent.” Your eyes widened and you peered over to Billy, who shared the same look.
“Haha, well, good luck pranking the masters.” You tried to hide your nerves, but Zak was good at surprises. He planned several surprise parties for you and the guys, and had planned his elaborate proposal for months without you suspecting a damn thing.
Well, this was going to be interesting.

Solo
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: canon/show-typical violence and spookiness (mention of murder), little hints of fluff.
Word Count: 1,557
My Master List
Tumblr media
You smiled as you watched Zak give his intro to Jay’s camera with his usual enthusiasm. He gestured to the large, decrepit building around you as he led the intro to your lockdown.
“I can speak for all of us when I say this is the investigation of a lifetime. We’ve been waiting for years to investigate this place.” He grinned at the camera. “That being said, we aren’t going to handle this lockdown like we usually do. We have a bit of a surprise for you all, a surprise for one of our newest and most loved member of the Ghost Adventures crew.” He glanced over to you and winked. Oh no, what the hell did he have up his sleeve?
“Most of you know Y/N, my beautiful girlfriend and partner in crime. She’s been behind the scenes, analyzing our findings from our investigations for just about a year now. She helps with set up during investigations and has joined all of us on several lockdowns this season.” He winked your way, forcing your eyes to roll. “Well, tonight, she’s going to be officially initiated into the Ghost Adventures lockdown team, GAC style. We’re going to be putting her into the most haunted room at this location by herself for a solo investigation.”
Your eyes widened like saucers. What the fuck did he just say? You? Most haunted room? By yourself? That was a first that you weren’t exactly thrilled about.
You were going to murder him when you got home.
“Alright. Let’s get this investigation started. We’re going to start with Aaron and myself going to the third floor, where the shadow figure has been seen by multiple eye witnesses. Billy and Jay are going to the basement, where it is rumored that a former home owner murdered and buried their husband in cold blood. They’ll be doing some EVP burst sessions, and will bring the Ovilus to see what they can pick up. Y/N will be stationed on the first floor at nerve center, for now.” He grinned and glanced over to you again. Then, Jay cut the camera and the five of you made your way to your locations.
The first set of investigations were reasonably successful. Zak and Aaron had caught a few words from the same voice on the spirit box, while Jay and Billy had a few intelligent responses on the Ovilus. Spirits were high, no pun intended, but so was your anxiety.
“Alright, I think it’s about time Y/N started her investigation,” Zak narrated to the camera. “I will be walking her to the room, then she will be on her own. Of course, we will all be watching her from nerve center. But, I want to see what she can pick up.”
Zak made his way over to you, reaching for your hand. You took it and instantly squeezed, your nerves surfacing full force. He squeezed you back, obviously trying to calm your nerves. But, it wasn’t helping. You always thought you wouldn’t be afraid of something like this. But honestly, you thought you would never be in this predicament. Now that it was happening, you were pretty flipping nervous.
It didn’t help that the room you were going to be alone in was up on the second floor, the very room where the former home owner slept. She was the same one who reportedly murdered and buried her husband in the basement. Zak thought she would respond to a woman’s presence, and since you were the only woman on the team, that was your cue.
Zak and you entered the room, then he sat you in a chair against the far wall. Once you had your handheld camera turned on, he handed you the spirit box.
He leaned over and placed a soft kiss on your forehead. He was rarely affectionate on camera, but sometimes he let his rules slide. And judging by the way you were shaking, he must have thought this was definitely one of those special circumstances.
“We’re all downstairs. We have our eyes and ears on you. If you get anxious or feel uncomfortable, let us know and I’ll come running. Okay?” He smiled in the darkness. “I love you. You’re gonna be fine.” You nodded, then let out a deep sigh as you watched him exit.
A few minutes after he left, you switched on the spirit box. You peered around the dated room through your camera’s tiny viewfinder. It was so dark, and the only sound around you was the static of the spirit box.
“I-Is anyone here? Do you want to talk to me?” Silence. Nothing came through. So, you kept on, your hand visibly trembling under the speaker. “Did you live here?”
You nearly jumped out of your skin as voice came through on your walkie talkie. “You’re doing great, Y/N,” Zak praised.
“You scared the bajesus out of me, Bagans,” you muttered, knowing he could hear you through the static night vision camera on the other side of the room.
“Sorry,” he came through one more time with a chuckle. You smiled and rolled your eyes. Sure, you were still trying to steady your breath from the scare, but there was something about hearing Zak’s voice that soothed you. He was in the building and could be there in less than thirty seconds if you needed him.
You sighed, then continued your questions. “Are you the woman who murdered her husband?” Not even a second later, a rushed voice came through. To you, it sounded like ‘killed him dead’, which instantly gave you the chills.
“Why did you kill him? Did he hurt you somehow? Did he make you mad?” You listen closely as another voice came through, but it was too quick to hear any coherent words. You could feel yourself starting to get anxious, but you slowed your breathing in an attempt to keep yourself grounded.
“Is there anyone else here with me—” A loud growl came from the box, forcing you from your seat. You yelped as you spun around, staring at the chair from the center of the room.
“Y/N, you okay?” you listened to Zak’s voice on the walkie.
“Yeah,” you huffed to the room. “I’m good. Did you guys hear that?”
“It sounded like some sort of growl,” you heard Jay’s voice answer you. You nodded, then stared back at the box.
“Who just growled at me? Are you mad that I’m asking questions?” Your heart was racing, nearly beating out of your chest.
In that second, the entire vibe of the room changed. The dense air around you was like a cloud of thick, invisible smoke. Your chest started to feel heavy.
And that’s when another growl rumbled behind you. It was clear and hadn’t come from the spirit box. You jumped as you spun around to see if something was there.
“Did you just fucking hear that? Something growled behind me—"
“Ahhhh!” A voice shrilled from the speaker. Your eyes widened with fear.
“Zak!” You screamed as you began to panic. “I’m done. Get me out of here!” Within seconds, the pounding of footsteps on the stairs filled your ears, instantly easing your overwhelming terror.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Aaron huffed from behind Zak. Zak’s arms were around you in seconds, slipping the spirit box from your grasp to his.
“Yeah, I’m just done with whatever negative energy is up here,” you sighed as you turned towards the door. “That growling can’t be from something human. It sounded like a freaking rabid dog.” Zak’s arm was wrapped around your shoulder, pulling you against his side.
“You’re safe. You did fantastic, Y/N.” He turned to Aaron. “I think it’s Aaron’s turn to go solo.” He smirked in the darkness at his friend, who frowned.
“No, dude. Not after that growl, man.” Aaron started walking for the door, almost cutting both Zak and you off. But, Zak reached an arm out, blocking his best friend’s exit.
“Aaron, you’re staying up here. Do some EVP and see what you find. I’m sure you’ll be fine. If there’s activity, we can’t just walk away.” Aaron huffed, then shrugged, accepting his fate.
“Fine, dude. But if something negative attaches to me, I’m sending it after you.” Zak just laughed as he led you toward the stairs.
Once you both found your seats at nerve center, Zak leaned towards you, his lips hovering over your shoulder.
“I’m so proud of you,” he whispered, before kissing your temple. Billy groaned beside you.
“Guys, get a room,” he teased. Jay glanced over from his spot on the other side of Billy, simply grinning.
Zak scoffed. “Dude, shut up. I’m just telling Y/N how well she did. I think we can all agree that she’s the toughest one out of all of us. If that were any of us, we’d be bolting from that room squealing like a child.” A yelp echoed from Aaron’s camera feed, making you giggle. “I rest my case.” Zak leaned back in and kissed your cheek, then fixed his gaze back on Aaron.
You just sat there with a smile, proud of yourself. Sure, you got scared, but anyone would have. Who knew where that growl came from, anyway. But, one thing was for sure, you were now officially initiated into the lockdown crew.

Second Chance
Zak Bagans x Fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, arguing (nothing violent), mention of break-ups, happy ending (with fluff!). Oh, and a super cheesy, silly title. Let me know if I’m missing anything.
Word Count: 3.3k
My Master List
Tumblr media
Zak lifted his head as a purple glimmer caught his eye. The room around him was loud, and the lights were flashing in a nauseatingly rapid rhythm. Why the hell did Aaron drag him to a place like this, especially when they had a lockdown the next night? He should be resting and reserving his strength, not wasting his time in some random Vegas nightclub.
It’s a good distraction, Aaron had told him. Although the music wasn’t bad, it wasn’t exactly Zak’s scene. Not anymore, anyway. He preferred less people, and more intimate conversation.
But, right now, he was mentally thanking his best friend for dragging him to this god-awful place as his eyes lifted to a familiar face in not-so-familiar clothing.
“Y/N?” He greeted you, his eyes scanning up and down your glittery purple dress. The deep cut accented your curves better than anything he had seen, and the length was shorter than he ever imagined you wearing.
Not that he was complaining one bit. You looked beautiful.
“Uh, hiya Zak.” You glanced around. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Tumblr media
There was no way in hell Zak was there on purpose. He hated places like that, you knew that. But, you remembered seeing Aaron a few minutes earlier, which meant the other paranormal investigator wasn’t far behind.
It had been two weeks since the two of you had talked, and a day less since you had resigned from the show. The last time you talked to the blue-eyed lead investigator, he had admitted to you that he had more than platonic feelings for you. So, you ran.
It wasn’t that you didn’t share those feelings. No, it was quite the opposite. You had been harboring feelings for the older man for at least the past year, probably longer. But, there was no way he truly felt the same way. You knew Zak wasn’t the kind of person to stick around in a relationship for long, and you didn’t want to be the latest victim.
Zak glanced around, as if he was desperately searching for his partner in crime. But, the older friend was nowhere to be found. So, he relaxed his shoulders and locked his gaze on yours.
“Aaron dragged me here as a ‘distraction’. I guess that failed miserably, thank god.” He smiled sweetly, then his expression turned serious. “I’ve been calling you for days. I left voicemails. We thought something bad happened to you.”
You rolled your eyes and sighed. You didn’t want to be there either. Honestly, you had no idea why you were there. Distraction was the best word you could come up with. You were hoping to pick up someone to keep your mind off the man you wanted, but knew you could never have.
“Well, I’m alive, and I’m probably not going to be in town for much longer. I took a job in California. My condo there is going to be about a third the size and the same price as the one I have here, but it looks like a nice area.” You peered away, unable to look him directly in the eye. But, even in your peripheral vision, you could see the pain on his face.
“You’re moving? Wow. I guess I never saw that coming.” His voice was softer, almost hard to hear against the pounding music. His shoulders sank more in defeat, making your stomach ache. You knew he felt something for you, but it wouldn’t last. He’d get over you just as fast as the others you had seen come and go.
“Yeah, it’s a good gig. It’s with a news station outside of Sacramento. I’ll be editing their videos before they air.” Zak’s eyes remained wide and painful. You had been friends for years and had been on the show for about half a decade. So, it was obviously a shock to him when you resigned. It was a shock for everyone.
Billy, Aaron, and Jay had also left you multiple voicemails asking where you were and if you were okay. Hell, even Dakota reached out to see what was going on. You knew they loved you and cared, but you weren’t one for goodbyes, and you definitely didn’t want to think about Zak anymore.
“Y/N, we miss you. The last investigation wasn’t the same without you.” He stared down at his feet. “You didn’t even give an explanation. We thought you were in some kind of trouble.”
You narrowed your gaze. “Zak, don’t be stupid. You know exactly why I left.” Your body tensed. Was he really that naïve? Or was he in denial?
“What?” You rolled your eyes.
“Zak, what was our last conversation about?” You crossed your arms over your chest. He wasn’t this dumb. He wasn’t dumb at all. Sure, he had a dorky sense of humor, but he was brilliant. He had to know what was really going on.
His eyes widened again, this time in realization. “Wait, you left because I told you that I love you?” Bingo.
“Zak, do you know how many women I’ve heard you say that to, just for you to toss them to the curb within a few months? You haven’t had the best track record over the years I’ve known you.” You sighed in frustration. “You love ‘em and leave ‘em pretty quickly. I didn’t want to be another statistic.”
Zak slammed his back into the cement wall behind him. His gaze left you, hazing over with an emotion you couldn’t quite recognize. His tight, black shirt hugged his chest as he crossed his arms.
“You think I picked you as a target or something? Y/N, I wouldn’t have told you I loved you after five years if I didn’t mean it! I wouldn’t risk our entire friendship over something like that!” Zak’s chest heaved as his voice got louder. “I know I’ve had several girlfriends since I’ve met you, and I know none of them ever turned out to be much of anything. But, I didn’t know them for more than a week before things progressed. I didn’t have the time to get to know them like I know you.”
You clenched your teeth as you listened to his words. Oh, so he loved you because he knew you long enough to realize you weren’t after his money and fame? Great.
“Zak, why the fucking hell didn’t you say anything before? You’ve had five years to realize your feelings for me, to say something. We’ve traveled all over the country together for years, and we live within four miles of each other. Why are you just saying something now?” You could feel the frustration, and heartbreak, washing over you.
“Because it didn’t seem like you were going to be the one to say it.” You blinked as you took a half-step back.
“Excuse me?”
Zak smirked, pissing you off even more. “You think I didn’t notice they way you looked at me when you thought I wasn’t looking? Or how your hand lingered on my shoulder a little too long while we looked over evidence at Nerve? Y/N, I’m not blind.”
Shit. Shit, fuck, damn. He wasn’t blind at all. And, you were sure that the others saw it too. You had flirted with him for as long as you could remember, to the point that it became second nature.
“I didn’t say anything for the same reason I left. I didn’t want to be another Zak Bagans statistic.”
Zak unfolded his arms and stared at you. His eyes were dark, but not with anger, but pain. He tilted his head ever so slightly as he took a step forward.
“Y/N, do you really think I’m that much of a monster? After all of these years, spending weeks at a time with each other, do you really think that I’m incapable of loving someone?” Your heart was about to pound out of your chest. No, you didn’t think he was a monster. Hell, you loved him for how caring and kind he was to everyone around him. He may have carried a cocky, bad-boy persona, but he was really a complete marshmallow under those muscles.
“I don’t think that. I just saw a pattern and didn’t want to be a part of it.” Zak just nodded at your words, leaning back against the wall. You could see his thoughts forming behind his eyes. His face was surprisingly soft, considering his obvious anger.
Zak nodded as he sighed. “Y/N, do you know what the problem was with those other girls?” He let out a sigh. “They weren’t you—”
“Oh, don’t give me that cliché crap, Zak.” You rolled your eyes, unable to contain a frustrated chuckle.
“I mean it. I know it sounds cheesy, but you know me. That’s my humor. And, that’s my entire point. You know me, my humor, and almost everything that swims around in my weirdo brain. And, for a while, I think that scared me. But, now I know that’s something special. You get me like those other girls didn’t. I mean, you know me in ways most other people in my life don’t.”
He wasn’t wrong. When he needed someone to talk to, and Aaron was busy, he called you. He knew you’d give him an ear at three in the morning and would help him with just about anything. And, until now, it was a two-way street. He was there for you whenever you needed someone.
And that was what set you apart from the others. You bothered to know him. You quickly realized that he reached out to you even when he was in a relationship. He didn’t go to whoever he was dating at the time because they didn’t listen like you did.
They didn’t care like you did.
“Fuck,” you muttered. “Zak, I—” Tears threatened in your eyes. It was you who was blind all this time. And now you had pushed away the man you loved when he said he loved you back.
You turned away from him, squeezing your eyes shut. Who cared if your mascara was waterproof or not? You didn’t care what you looked like, or where you were anymore. All you could think about was the pain in your chest.
“I’m sorry, Zak. I have to go—”
“No! I’m not letting you walk away again. Y/N, I know you didn’t mean to hurt me. I get it. I know what you saw.” Zak reached out, gently taking you upper arm.
“It’s what I didn’t see that’s killing me now,” you muttered, nearly drowned out by the music.
Zak turned you back towards him, smiling sweetly at you. “I know. I get it. I think we both do.” He glanced around the packed room. “How about we take a step outside so we don’t lose our voices,” he suggested with his award-winning smile.
It was his softness that sent you over the edge. You let the tears fall as they nodded, allowing your best friend to lead you out of that bustling club and onto the quieter, cooler sidewalk outside.
It took you a few minutes to form another coherent thought; your mind was reeling. Zak wasn’t the monster, you were. Not that you actually thought he was a monster, but this whole situation made you feel like the biggest nightmare of a person one could ever think up. You had to just run from a scary situation instead of being a grown ass woman and expressing your fears. You had been able to openly talk about all sorts of emotions on the show when you were with the guys. But, when it came to actual adult emotions, you ran.
Very mature.
And now you probably skewed the way Zak thought of you for the worse, and there was probably no coming back.
Zak leaned down in attempt to meet your tear-filled gaze. “Y/N, tell me what you’re feeling right now.” You sucked in a whimper and squeezed your eyes shut, letting a new stream of tears free.
“I feel like a fucking idiot. I feel like I royally screwed up and I’ve ruined something I wanted for years, but never thought could happen. I-I don’t know. I don’t know what to think now.” Your voice trembled. You were tired of trying to look tough. It was too exhausting.
“You aren’t an idiot. You were scared, and you weren’t seeing the whole picture. I get that. And I forgive you, not that I really think that I need to forgive you for anything.” His hand cupped your cheek and lifted your head up. “This whole thing was a huge misunderstanding.”
“Definitely. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me most, Zak. I did what those other girls did when you needed someone. I’m so sorry—”
“No, don’t be. I told you, Y/N, I understand. Fear makes us do stupid thing. Out of everyone in the world, I know you know that.” He sucked in a long breath, then let out a shaky sigh. “I love you, Y/N. I do. I don’t just throw those words around. I love you so much, and I have for a long time. If you want to move to California, I get it.”
Shit. Fucking shitty fuck. You clenched your teeth. What the hell have you done?
“I—well—not really. Shit, Z, I really fucked up.” Your mind raced as your breathing quickened. Your head started to feel funny, but you tried to keep yourself grounded. “I mean, I haven’t sold my condo yet, and I can withdraw from my offer on the one in Sacramento. And I can decline the job. But, I left the show. I don’t have a job anymore.” Your words came out in panicked breaths as your hands clenched into fists.
Zak smirked. “Well, if you do want to stick around, I think I can pull a few strings and get you your old job back. I mean, we haven’t replaced you or anything. It’s not like we could if we tried.” You nodded slowly, taking everything in.
“Zak, I’m so sorry,” you muttered as you reached out, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. His arms quickly supported your waist, cradling you against his chest. He gently rubbed circles with one hand on your back.
“Hey, shhh, it’s okay. Y/N, it’s alright.” You nodded against his chest, repeating the mantra in your head. After a few minutes, you started to believe it. Everything was going to be okay. You were there, and you just happened to run into Zak that night. Not that you were much of a believer in fate, but that had to mean something.
After a while, you pulled away from him. You peered up at him, fully aware that you had proven your mascara was less that waterproof.
“I’m sorry Zak.” You nibbled nervously on your lower lip.
He just shook his head. “I know, Y/N. You don’t need to keep saying it. I told you, I forgive you, not that I blame you for anything.” He reached head hand out. “So, are you staying after all?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I’m staying.” Zak’s smile stretched across his lips.
“Good. And what about us?” Your heart raced like it did just a few weeks ago, when he admitted his feelings for you. But, you sure as fuck weren’t going to run this time.
“I love you too, Zak. You already know that. I know I’ve done a piss-poor job of showing that over the last few weeks. I have some catching up to do.” You finally smiled under the drying tears. Zak chuckled, shaking his head.
“Bullshit. You’ve done enough over the years. No catch up needed, just a little Dijon mustard.” You blinked for a moment, then busted into laughter. He could never pass up a pun, no matter the circumstance.
“Oh my god, Zak,” you chuckled. “Really? Now?” You couldn’t stop laughing, which only made him smile wider.
“Hey, I made you smile. I call that a win.” He wrapped his arms around you again, causing your heart to speed up yet again. This time, you welcomed the feeling, loving the way you felt at home in his arms.
You glanced up at Zak and sighed. “Well, I guess there is no point in either of us being here, huh? I mean, I look like a fucking mess, and well, I guess my original plan is no longer happening.” Zak raised in eyebrow and huffed a laugh.
“Wait, what was your original plan?” His face tensed as he came to a realization. “Never mind, I don’t want to know. Either way, you look stunning.” You blushed under the streams of black mascara you were sure were plaguing your face.
“Thanks, Zak.”
You glanced around, eyeing the door as people came and went around you. You had totally forgotten about Aaron. Had Zak driven there with him? Or was Zak Aaron’s ride home?
“I hope Aaron is okay in there,” you mentioned casually, not wanting to sound too nosy. Zak’s eyes widened.
“Oh, man. He probably thinks I either went home with someone or got lost. Probably the latter.” Zak reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His screen was littered with notifications, probably from Aaron. Zak rolled his eyes. “Yep, he thinks I’m lost.” You both laughed.
“Did he drive you here? Is he okay to drive home?” Zak shook his head.
“Nah, we got a cab. He’s probably loaded. We should fine him before he hurts himself.” Zak and you rolled your eyes in sync, then laughed. He was probably right, there was no way Aaron and alcohol were ever a good mix, especially when he was alone.
“Good idea.” You took Zak’s arm and made your way for the door.
Zak paused a few steps from the door. “Did you drive here?” You shook your head. “Do you want to ride with us? We can go back to my place for a while and just, I dunno, do something boring. If you want to talk more, we can do that. Or, we can just watch a movie or whatever. I just know that I don’t like being alone after emotional situations like this, and I know you’re the same way.” He placed his hand over yours, which rested softly on his arm. “No pressure.”
He knew you all too well.
“Yeah, that actually sounds great. I wouldn’t mind a movie in your fancy shmancy theater.” You grinned as Zak chuckled.
“Deal. I don’t know what my inventory situation is on popcorn, but we’ll survive.” You nodded in agreement, then went to take a step towards the door, but Zak gently stopped you. You turned to him, raising a brow.
“Zak?” He just smiled at you for a moment.
“One more thing.” You should have seen this coming. He reached out and took your jaw gently in his other hand, then leaned in, pressing his lips to yours.
You gasped as you made contact, but quickly eased into it. He lingered, letting out a low laugh, before pulling away. You followed him as he leaned back, not wanting to separate just yet.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” Zak whispered. You rolled your eyes and shoved his chest. He truly was the king of cliches.
“Oh my god, you cheeseball! One serious moment is all I ask of you!” you teased, before taking his arm again.
“You’ll get one of those at some point, hopefully.” You rolled your eyes for the millionth time.
“Way to keep me on my toes, handsome,” you retorted. Then, you followed him back into the club in search of your friend.

Fear
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: Typical investigation content (bad feelings like fear and dread, mention of violent historical events including murder), mention of violent/threatening thoughts, being negatively affected by an entity, a hint of angst here and there, brief hints of sexual activities, fluff.
Word Count: 3,294
A/N: This story just came to me randomly while I was watching the show on my day off from work. Please read the warnings carefully. This story (at least in my opinion) is a bit emotionally heavy.
My Master List
Tumblr media
Nothing about this location felt right. The interviewees Zak had talked to earlier that day all warned the team about an entity that affects men, especially those with what they referred to as ‘strong personalities’. The moment you walked into the room called The Grand Parlor, you felt sick to your stomach, but didn’t say anything. The energy in the dusty, hundred-year-old building was thick with dread and fear. Little did you know that those feelings would follow you into the night.
As the sun went down, while you, Jay, and Billy were setting up nerve center, those feelings were coming back full-force. You couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling that something was about to go terribly wrong. And, if anything, you weren’t the one who was usually spooked. In the two years you had been a part of the team, you had quickly earned yourself the nickname of “The Debunker”. You were definitely the most skeptical of the group, and usually threw weird feelings out the window.
However, today, these feelings came on like a speeding train, and didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Now, you were able to confirm the exact same feeling in the same building for a second time. Coincidence, maybe, but unlikely.
“Y/N, is everything okay?” Jay asked quietly from beside you. Apparently, you had stilled while holding one of the X-camera cords. You cleared your throat and nodded, before picking up the X-camera in front of you.
The camera you were in charge of setting up was going in one of the main bedrooms of the manor, where the late patriarch of the family had, according to legend, murdered his young wife in cold blood. That was also the space where three other male investigators had become affected by a forceful entity. One of them even blamed an attachment from that very room for ending his marriage.
When you were filming Zak and an interviewee in that room, you had been overcome with fear, and had to pass the camera to Billy and quietly excuse yourself. That was the first time in your history on the show that something like that had ever happened to you. When Zak asked what happened, you said that you had a sudden dip in blood sugar from not eating lunch. When he kept asking questions, you kept brushing them off, even though you were terrified of what may have been happening to you.
You were stubborn, so you pressed on. You made your way to the steps that led up to the bedroom where you were going to place the X-camera. The moment you passed through the chestnut doorframe, your stomach sank even further.
“Holy shit,” you muttered to yourself as you entered the room. The air around you was electric, like there was a thunderstorm right over your head. You sucked in a deep breath and carried on, trying to find a logical explanation for the feeling in the back of your mind.
Once you placed the X-camera in its spot, you had an idea. You pulled out an EMF meter from the small bag beside the camera you turned it on. You slowly followed the walls of the room, lingering in doorways and corners of the room, searching for a live energy source. According to the owners, there was no power in the building, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t something explainable causing an electro-magnetic disturbance.
“Nothing,” you whispered in defeat as you shut off the device. How the hell was that possible. You felt like you had just shuffled over a carpet in your socks, ready to zap the next person to cross your path. Weird.
The moment you slipped the device back into the bag, you heard footsteps behind you. You spun on your heels only to find Jay standing in the doorway. Your best friend studied you, his eyes filled with concern.
“Dude, what’s happening, Y/N? You’re acting weird.” He wasn’t wrong. You felt weird, which in itself was a super foreign feeling for you. And, you weren’t exactly the stealthiest person, especially when something was bothering you.
“I-I dunno, Jay. This building has such a weird vibe to it. I feel something in here. I checked the whole room with the EMF detector, but got nothing. Zip. But I feel like a live wire.” You raked your fingers through your hair and sighed. “Not to mention the horrible feeling of dread in here. It must be from knowing the shit that went down in this room.”
“Well, we all have our locations that affect us more than others. Maybe we finally found yours?” Jay shrugged, obviously trying to calm you.
“Guess so.” You nodded, not really wanting to talk about it anymore. Your part of the set up was done. Now, it was time to gather and begin the lockdown.
Tumblr media
As you expected, this location was absolutely alive. Aaron got a threatening EVP within fifteen minutes of starting the lockdown, and a huge bang spooked Billy enough to almost send him pummeling down the stairs. Zak even got a few voices from what sounded like the same person while using the spirit box. It was compelling stuff, but that lingering feeling of dread was still weighing on you as you sat with Jay at nerve center.
After the guys returned to nerve center for a quick break, they all went over their findings with you and Jay. You tried to debunk what they found, but this location was presenting quite the challenge. The EVPs had tone, and the voice on the spirit box spoke at least three or four times, the same voice over multiple sweeps. Even the bang came from a small room with no furniture, leaving you scratching your head.
“Guys, this place is insane,” you gasped as you leaned back in your chair. “I-I don’t have a good explanation of any on this. I mean, the bang could have been a loose floor board finally giving way, but that was really loud.” Zak grinned from his seat beside you.
“Well, babe, maybe that’s because there’s something or someone haunting this place,” Zak teased. You glared over at him, then rolled his eyes.
“I can see that, Z.” You narrowed your gaze, then nudged his arm playfully.
“See, your weird feelings were right!” Jay announced, causing you to freeze. You hadn’t said anything to the others about your feelings about the place, and you honestly didn’t want them to know. You wanted to find a good reason behind it, and not feed into it.
You glared over at Jay, wishing he hadn’t said anything.
“Wait, what feelings?” Zak interrogated, practically leaping out of his chair. “You felt something? You?” You closed your eyes for a moment, then nodded.
“The moment I walked into the place, I felt like my stomach was flipping. Like you’re waiting for something to jump out and scare you. It’s like dread and fear, especially in that bedroom upstairs where the woman was murdered.” You met Zak’s gaze, then Aaron’s, and the rest of the crew. Even at nerve center in the RV, outside of the building, you could feel something bothering you. So, the last thing you wanted was to go back into that house.
And it was almost like Zak knew that.
“Y/N, maybe the woman who was killed in there is somehow connected to you, and that’s why you’re feeling that way.” You couldn’t disagree with him. There was no other conclusion that you could confirm, or even think of at that point. So, Zak’s next words didn’t surprise you.
“Babe, how about you come in with me and we check out that bedroom—”
“Woah, Zak! We’re in the middle of a lockdown, dude.” You rolled your eyes. Oh, leave it to the adorable Aaron Goodwin.
“No, Aaron, I’m serious. The woman was murdered in that room. Maybe she’ll reach out to another woman. If a bunch of men go in there, she might feel threatened and not want to reach out.” You didn’t really want to do this, but you knew at this point you had no choice. Plus, if the spirit of the woman was in that room, she may reach out to you, and that may lead to some amazing evidence.
“Fine,” you sighed. “Let’s go.” Zak grinned, pushed his glasses back up his nose, then led the way out of the RV.
Tumblr media
Billy stood in the doorway filming Zak and you as you both stood in the bedroom. Your stomach swirled and flipped while you held the spirit box in your hand. The echoes of the rapid sweeps filled the room as you leaned against a small dresser.
“Is the woman who was killed in the room here with us?” you asked into the room. Zak stood beside the bed holding the SLS camera towards you.
“Are you still afraid? Even now that you’ve died?” The sweeps continued without voices. “Because I can feel that fear. The fear you felt. And I’m sorry you feel that way.”
“He’s here.”
The female voice came through quickly, but clearly. Your arms filled with goosebumps the moment those words entered the air.
“Who is here?” you shouted over the echoing noise.
“Him.”
The voice came through as a low growl. You jumped back a little, then peered up at Zak.
“What the fuck was that?” you gasped, keeping your eyes on Zak. The feelings you had from the beginning were now plaguing you tenfold, and you were almost positive you were going to puke. You felt like you needed to get out of the room immediately. It almost felt like something was coming after you and you needed to run for your life.
“Zak, I need to leave. I can’t be in here anymore,” you rasped, starting to panic. “I can’t breathe.” You turned for the door, but were met by the broad chest of your boyfriend blocking your path. You stared up at him, barely able to see his face through the faint light that came through the window.
“Dude, what are you doing?” Billy asked from the other side of the doorway. He held the camera up, but the barely visible look on his face was wrought with concern.
Your heart galloped in your chest as you reached up and pressed a firm hand on Zak’s chest. Something was affecting him, and you knew you needed to get the two of you out. You swallowed the immense fear that overcame you and focused on getting through to Zak.
“Zak, please let me leave.” You stared up at the faint features of his face. He didn’t move, didn’t say a word. His brow was lightly furrowed behind the frames of his glasses, and his eyes were cold. You held your hand firm against Zak’s chest and lifted your head up ever so slightly, asserting yourself.
“Whoever if affecting Zak, you need to leave him alone. I’m not afraid of you. We aren’t afraid of you. You can’t bully people anymore.” You watched as Zak’s face contorted slightly behind his respirator mask. He released a low groan from deep in his chest.
“Leave me alone!” he shouted to whoever was affecting him. Your theory was that it was the man who committed murder in the room, who was mad that there was another woman in there. He may have attached to Zak knowing that you two were a couple. He was probably mad that a woman was standing up to him. And you sure as hell weren’t going to back down.
“Y/N, I need to get out of here,” Zak almost pleaded as he turned away from you and took a step towards Billy. There was still something very wrong, but you let him go, hoping that once he left the building he would be okay. Billy moved to the side, allowing Zak to leave, then ran back in to collect the SLS camera from the bed where Zak had dropped it. You turned back to the dresser where you had left the spirit box so you could turn it off.
“Leave here.”
You froze in place, feeling Billy peering over your shoulder. He gasped as the female voice spoke those words. Your eyes filled with tears as you began to speculate. The woman was trying to protect you.
“They want us to leave,” Billy concluded. They didn’t have to tell you twice. You quickly turned off the spirit box, then booked it out of there with Billy on your heels.
Tumblr media
Zak sat in the RV beside Aaron with his head in his hands. Without even looking at his face, you could tell he was close to tears as he sat hunched over on one of the chairs. You approached him, noticing Aaron’s hand on his shoulder.
“Hey,” you breathed as you crouched down in front of him and rested your wrists on his knees. “Zak, talk to me.”
Of course he was upset that he was affected by a spirit. He was usually emotional and drained after something like that. But this time, he seemed way more upset than drained. You reached up to peel one of his hands from his face.
“Zak, tell me what’s going through you head right now.” You had grown very accustomed to soothing the team members after something scary like this, being the one who was usually settled at base camp. Even the fearless leader needed comforting after a long night. But, he had never been affected while having you as the target of his rage.
“When we were in that room, I got these horrible flash images of violence and rage.” He sighed, lowering his other hand, but not looking at you. You took the other hand in yours, trying your best to keep from shaking yourself.
“What kind of images, Zak? Were they violent? Towards me?” Zak just nodded his answer, making you feel sick again. It had to have been the man who murdered his wife in that room. You were positive. And you knew he was thinking the same thing.
“I stood there and I just wanted too—” He sucked in a breath, very clearly trying to hold back tears. “I wanted to snap your neck.”
“Woah, dude,” Aaron gasped from beside Zak. He rubbed gentle circles into his best friend’s shoulder. “It was that man putting those images in your head, man. It wasn’t you.” You nodded in agreement, then peered back to Zak, who was now looking at you. His eyes were red and glassy with tears that threatened to fall.
“It made me think of hurting you. It made me want to hurt you. To kill you.” Zak started to shake his head. “I’ve never even thought I could ever imagine hurting you. And just seeing that so vividly in my head—” Zak lowered his head again. Tears finally broke through, landing on the dark fabric of his pants.
“Hey, it wasn’t you, love,” you whispered to him as you squeezed both of his hands. “I know it wasn’t. That’s why I confronted him. I needed to stand my ground.” Zak shuddered and closed his eyes.
“I don’t ever want to think about hurting you again. I want those thoughts to go away. I want that sick fucking feeling to go away.” Zak grit his teeth, then relaxed.
You tilted your head, trying to recapture his gaze. “Zak, look at me.” He slowly lifted his head. “Those weren’t your thoughts. I know you would never hurt me.” Your palm gently met his cheek. The sparse stubble tickled your skin.
“That was so fucked up,” he breathed out, finally offering you a ghost of a smile. You returned the gesture and leaned your forehead against his.
“Guys,” you announced to the room, “I think we’re done for the night. It’s almost five in the morning. Do you mind giving us some space?”
“Yeah, we’ll go take down the equipment,” Jay responded, before heading for the door. The others followed him out, leaving you alone with Zak.
You pulled your head back a little, staring into the haunted blue eyes before you. Zak was rarely this vulnerable, so whatever he saw in his mind must have really gotten to him. He was normally a bit protective of you, happy that you preferred to be at nerve center most of the time. That’s where you could see everything as it happened and would be able to debunk it quickly. When you did go in on an investigation, you were usually with Jay or Aaron in a place where there weren’t as many violent occurrences.
So, this whole thing was way out of both of your comfort zones. And, you could tell that Zak felt guilty for sending you in.
“Zak, I love you. Please don’t be upset about all of this. None of this was your fault.” You cupped his jaw in your hands. “I agreed to go in with you, despite how I felt about the place. And, you didn’t hurt me. You may have imagined it, or thought about it, but you didn’t hurt me. Even though you were strongly affected, you didn’t even touch me.” Zak nodded lightly, covering your hands with his. “I know it sounds cheesy and ridiculous, but it must have been your love that kept you from being fully affected by this horrible entity. And, well, that means a heck of a lot to me.”
Zak huffed a laugh and smiled. “Yeah, the power of love. Cheeseball.” You both giggled with each other, holding each other close. You folded your legs under you so you could kneel on the ground. Then, you leaned in, closing the distance between you and Zak.
You had been with Zak for a while now, and every kiss with him was better than the last. But, this kiss was different. A warm electricity filled you as he pulled you closer, almost clinging onto you for dear life. As cheesy as it really did sound, you were absolutely right about Zak. His deep love for you kept his mind clear enough for him to not follow through on whatever he was feeling in that room. It felt pretty darn good that Zak Bagans, the smart, handsome, and honestly a bit cocky, leader of Ghost Adventures loved you that deeply.
Zak’s lips devoured yours, like this kiss was all that was keeping you there. His hands reached for your arms, your shoulders. One finally found its home on the side of your neck, the other cradling the back of your head. He slowly guided you onto his lap, never breaking contact.
Zak broke his grip and lowered his hands to your waist, tugging you against his form. Nothing about his touch was sexual. He was desperate for closeness, as were you, pleading with each other to never let go. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders while your noses gently brushed.
With a deep sigh, Zak finally pulled away. He felt lighter, happier. You could tell that he was back to his normal self.
“How ya feelin’, handsome?” you whispered. Zak sniffled lightly and smiled.
“A lot better.” He cleared his throat. He reached up and rubbed a red mark that was left over the bridge of his nose from his respirator mask. “I never want that to happen again.”
You nodded. “Well, I don’t know if either of us can guarantee that. But, I’m here now.” You kissed the small red mark.
“I love you,” he muttered under his breath. You ran your fingers through his hair, then stood, extending a hand.
“I love you too, Zak.” He took your hand and stood. “C’mon, let’s go help the others.”

Imagine hanging out with Zak after a lockdown…
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: none. Just a little fluff. Oh, and the gif almost has nothing to do with the storyline. I just thought it was adorable. xD

It was just after eight in the morning, and you and the crew were finally back at the hotel. Once you got your stuff out of the rental car, you headed for the lobby.
You froze in the center of the lobby as your stomach growled fiercely. Damn, you were hungry. You had been locked in that location for the entire night, and it had been at least thirteen hours since dinner. You turned your head towards the small restaurant attached to the hotel, thoughts of pancakes drifting through your mind.
“Hey, Y/N!” Zak called from the front doors. He had his backpack draped lazily over his shoulder. It bounced against his back as he jogged his way to you.
“Hey,” you greeted your lead investigator. Your lips curled instantly as you met his gaze.
“You hungry?” he asked with his award-winning smile, gesturing to the restaurant’s entrance. You nodded.
“Dude, you read my mind.”
Zak laughed. “One of my many talents.” You playfully shoved his shoulder as you followed him to the doors of the quaint eatery.
“You think the others want some breakfast too?” you questioned, peering over your shoulder. Zak held two fingers up to the seating hostess, then turned back to you.
“I asked Aaron earlier, but he’s gonna crash. He’s beat. Billy and Jay practically ran to their rooms too. So, it’s just you and me, gorgeous.” Zak winked, then turned back to follow the hostess.
You practically skipped behind him, finding a second (or third?) wind. He led you to a small booth, where he slid in across from you. He situated his backpack, leaning it towards the wall, then sighed.
“I’m freaking starving,” Zak muttered as he opened his menu. You glanced over your menu and smiled, taking in the handsome man across from you. Several strands of hair had gone rogue from the otherwise perfect fohawk, and his glasses were slowly sliding down his nose. Nevertheless, he was adorable as always.
“You aren’t going to find the specials written on my forehead, Y/N,” Zak announced without looking up. You just rolled your eyes, then peered down at the plastic in your hands.
Zak and you had a flirtatious relationship for as long as you could remember. And recently, he had been kind of treating you like you were a couple. He never said it in words, but it was clear in his actions that he felt something strong towards you. So, you just played along, hoping he would be the one to say something first.
You closed your menu and sighed, leaning your head back into the backrest. Your energy was fading again.
“Coffee?” the server asked, a full carafe in her hand. You nodded politely sliding your plain white mug towards the edge of the table.
You took the full cup, adding a packet of sweetener, then pressed it to your lips. The warmth instantly lightened you up, like an instant caffeine shot.
Zak finally lowered his menu and smiled across the table. You returned the gesture, holding your mug in one hand.
“I still don’t know how you can drink coffee black.” Zak’s face twisted a little as he poured at least six mini half-and-half containers into his mug, along with two packets of sugar.
You grinned around the porcelain. “I like my coffee as dark as my soul.”
“Right.” He rolled his eyes playfully. “On another note, we caught some really great evidence today. I can’t believe you caught that shadow on your camera!” Zak praised. He reached his arm out across the table, his palm up. He wiggled his fingers in invitation. So, you placed your hand in his, his warmth quickly engulfing it.
“Yeah. That was super awesome. I’ve never caught a figure on film before. I guess I’ve earned my keep now,” you teased. He squeezed your hand, his thumb tracing circles over the backside of your palm.
“I mean, after three years, I’d say so. Plus, you capture the best EVPs of any of us. So, I guess we’ll keep you.” Zak flashed his stunning grin.
“Oh, thanks Zak.” You rolled your eyes. Zak squeezed your hand again.
“No, but honestly, you did awesome tonight. Even when I threw you in that attic alone. Those words coming from the Ovilus were pretty threatening. You still held your own. You’re the bravest woman I’ve ever met.” Zak dipped his head, searching for your gaze. “I hope you know that.”
“Yeah, I know.”
You smiled and nodded, then glanced at the server making her way back to you. Maybe this was the perfect time to bring up your unspoken feelings for each other. You never got the chance to be with Zak one-on-one very often. So, it was now or never.
“Okay, lover boy, let’s get some food in our stomachs. Then, we need to talk.”

Here and Now - Part 6
Zak Bagans x Reader

Rage boiled through your veins as your stared at the flashy pink glitter on the floor. Your eyes moved along the shiny nuisance, following it to the river of red and pink heart-shaped confetti that led into the rest of your home. More hearts littered the walls, poorly-cut pieces of paper with love quotes, and red and pink streamers criss-crossed overhead. As you took a step in, you heard music playing from a back room, most likely from your television.
“It’s like… Valentine’s Day threw up in here,” you mumbled as you slowly stepped towards the living room. The confetti faded into another substance, deeper red. “Rose petals? Really Goodwin?”
You phone buzzed in your pocket, jolting you from your rage-filled cloud. It was Jay.
(9:45pm) Jay: I’m just glad you had fun.
You stared down at the text. There was no doubt this was Aaron’s work, no one else would go this far out. But, how did he get in? The only person other than you who had a key to your place was…
Jay.
You closed your eyes and let out a long sigh. Sure, betrayal stung, but karma was a bitch.
(9:47pm) Y/N: I want my key back, and I hate you.
(9:48pm) Jay: ????
(9:48pm) Y/N: You know.
You snapped a picture of the carnage and sent it to Jay with several angry face emojis. For several minutes, he didn’t answer. Figures. He knew what he did, or at least what he allowed to happen.
You let out another long sigh. This was going to be a bitch to clean up. But, you thought Zak might get a kick out of it. So, you sent him several photos, hoping to at least get a laugh out of this catastrophe.
Tumblr media
“Hey, I can’t lie, he did go all out,” Zak admitted as he laughed. You stood your tablet up in front you as you munched on your breakfast. You were happy to have a surprise breakfast with Zak, even if it was virtually. He was gradually getting ready to spend his day with his mom, which made you smile inside.
“Yeah, he did, but now I have to buy a new vacuum. That glitter ruined my brand new one! One hundred dollars down the freaking drain,” you whined. You took a bite of your oatmeal, then leaned back in your chair. “And I don’t know how that asshole passed kindergarten. I’ve never seen more lop-sided hearts in my life!”
Zak’s nose scrunched as he laughed. “Yeah, paper art isn’t exactly his thing. Or, he did it on purpose knowing you would notice and it would piss you off that much more.” You rolled your eyes. Knowing Aaron’s actual incredible artistic talent, Zak was probably right.
“Well, I’m out a vacuum. And, I’ll probably have to disclose that there is a never-ending glitter infestation when I sell this place.” Zak’s face froze at your words.
“Wait, you’re selling the place?” You cocked an eyebrow.
“Uh, not right now, but I’m sure I won’t live here forever. Or, maybe I will. I don’t know.” The air around you felt heavy for a moment, but Zak’s laughter broke the silence.
“I still can’t believe Aaron trashed your place like that. I mean, I have to give it to him, it’s pretty well done. Although, the glitter is pretty fucking cruel.” Zak grinned, making your heart skip. God, he was handsome, and funny, and just, well, everything you were looking for.
And, now, everything was really sinking in. The man on the screen was the man you were dating, Zak Bagans, the man you never thought you’d have a chance with until a few days ago. You were still pinching yourself.
“Yeah, glitter is the bane of me existence—” your phone buzzed beside you, cutting you off. You rolled your eyes at the name on the screen. “Speak of the devil. I never texted him last night, so he’s probably wondering if his ‘brilliant’ plan worked.”
Zak chuckled again, slipping his glasses on. “Well, I’ll leave it to you to rip him a new one. I’ve got to get over to my mom’s pretty soon.” You nodded and shook your phone.
“Oh, don’t worry, I’m already planning my payback.”
Zak leaned his head back as he cackled. “Well, if you need an accomplice, let me know.” You raised your brow. “It would only be fair. You know, since Jay was obviously in on it.”
“Oh? Have you chosen a side?” You giggled, taking a sip of coffee.
“I may have picked a side. Or, maybe I’m a double agent.” He winked, but you just narrowed your gaze.
“Traitor.” You laughed with Zak, admiring his gravelly laugh.
“Alright, well, I’ll text you later, okay? Have a great day, beautiful.” Your heart nearly burst out of your chest. But, you held it together with a smile, and nodded.
“Have fun, handsome. Say ‘hi’ to you mom for me.” Zak nodded, then blew you a kiss before signing off.
You sat in your chair for a second, allowing your mind to settle. Then, you picked up for phone, ready to rip Aaron a new asshole.
You glanced down at your phone. 1 New Text Message: Aar Bear
(10:03am) Aaron: How was your date, Lovebird? Did you make it home? ;)
(10:08am) Y/N: Oh, yeah. I made it home just fine. I had a blast yesterday. :) Oh, by the way, I fucking hate you.
(10:10am) Aaron: What? Why would you say something like that? I’m one of your best friends!
(10:11am) Y/N: Well, first of all, you owe me a new vacuum. That glitter completely fucking ruined it. Oh, and you aren’t allowed at my place ever again. Oh, and I know you had help. All threats will be neutralized.
(10:13am) Aaron: Uh, oh. We’ve been had. xD
(10:14am) Y/N: Karma’s a bitch, Goodwin. Watch your back.
Tumblr media
*Two days later*
Packing for an investigation was something that took you days to finish. Sure, it was only three or four nights from home, but it wasn’t anything like packing for a vacation. You obviously needed clothes and toiletries. But, you also needed your gear.
You slipped your laptop into its case and stood it next to your open suitcase. Then, you grabbed your still camera, an extra memory card, several rechargeable batteries, and your share of video cameras. The fact that your equipment suitcase was twice as big as your clothing suitcase never failed to make you laugh.
It was important to make sure every piece was properly charged and working properly. So, you followed the routine that Jay had taught you when you first started. You took a couple of shots with your still camera, which worked perfectly, then placed it into the protective pouch in your suitcase. Next, you tried out your video camera, testing a good minute of video, then placing it in its spot.
A knock at the door spooked you, nearly making you drop one of you night-vision cameras. Ah, they were early. You launched from the floor and shuffled over to the front door.
The crew all decided that it would be a good idea to meet the day before you left, as usual, to make sure there was a game plan for departure and for the first day of the investigation. So, Billy, Aaron, Jay, and Zak were all going to meet at your place to go over what needed to happen. Of course, that meant actually letting Aaron and Jay back into your home, which you promised you wouldn’t do until you got then back for their stunt. But, if you played it cool, you could get them back when they least expected it.
However, the timing worked perfectly, because your date with Zak would start after everyone left.
You opened the door, where you greeted Zak. He lived the closest to you, so you weren’t surprised he got there first, and twenty minutes early.
“Hey, you,” you greeted with a smile. Zak stepped inside, lugging two small suitcases of equipment. They obviously weren’t his clothing suitcases, yes plural. He had two, and each were twice the size of yours.
“Good morning, or I guess afternoon—” He stared down at his fancy watch. It was ten minutes passed noon, and your stomach was telling you it was almost lunch time.
“Just chuck those into my office. That’s where the rest of my equipment is right now. Do you want anything to drink? I was thinking about ordering lunch for everyone in a few minutes. I don’t have a lot of food around since we’re leaving tomorrow.” Something about having Zak in your home felt so natural. Sure, the guys liked to meet at your place and drop off the equipment with you the day before leaving. You were, after all, they main AV tech now, and all of the equipment should be in one spot where you can triple check it all before you left.
“Nah, I’m good gorgeous. When are the guys gonna be here?” Zak asked. You tilted your head.
“I told everyone, including you, to be here at twelve thirty, but I’m sure Aaron will be here closer to one. You know him.” You rolled your eyes and laughed.
“Well, my mom always taught me to be early,” he teased, shooting you a wink. “So, what’s the plan for tomorrow?”
You shrugged, leading Zak to your office. “I don’t know yet. Billy is going to tell us when he gets here. He always has the master plan.” Zak nodded, approaching you.
Zak placed his stuff beside your equipment bags, then turned to you. He reached out, curling your hair behind your ear, before allowing his hand to rest on your face. His thumb gently stroked your cheekbone.
“You excited for tonight? It’s not going to be as thrilling as our first date, but it will be fun.” You nodded, offering a blushing smile. “Good, me too.”
Zak leaned in and brushed his nose against yours. It was you who closed the distance, gently planting your lips on his. The moment you made contact, Zak hummed and smiled against you. His other arm slipped around your waist, pulling you closer against him. Your hands smoothed up his shoulders, then your arms found their place hooked around his neck.
His lips danced with yours, slow and soft. His hot breath tickled your cheeks as he pushed you backwards, stopping when your ass gently met with the edge of your desk. He wasn’t forceful or aggressive, but firm as his fingers curled around the fabric along your back.
“Ah-hem,” you heard a higher pitched voice clear their throat. You and Zak launched from each other and turned toward your office door, where you met the gaze of Billy and Jay. You really needed to get your key back from Jay.
“Uh, hey guys, you’re early.” Zak stared down at his watch again.
“Yeah, sorry if we’re interrupting anything,” Billy teased.
“Good thing we got here before they got too far,” Jay poked. You rolled your eyes.
“Yeah, yeah. You caught Zak and me making out. Good for you. Can we just get started please?” You snapped playfully. The guys laughed, including Zak. Then, Billy and Jay tossed their gear onto the floor and plopped down on the floor beside it.

Here and Now - Part 5
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: a very brief hint of sexual tension, a kiss, just fluff.
Word Count: 1,900
A/N: Sorry if this part is so choppy. Most of this was written (and edited) around or after midnight over the course of several days. And, oh, sorry for the slow burn. Don’t worry, we’re just getting started. :)

Once the two of you were back in Zak’s car, everything about today started to sink in. You had just spent hours geeking out at Zak’s museum, exploring the extraordinary and macabre items he showcased. And, that wasn’t even the best part. Zak was totally adorable, and he was so proud of his collection. Watching him beam with pride over his priceless artifacts made your heart soar.
And that smile was still curled across his lips.
“So, you aren’t going to tell me where we’re going, are you?” you poked, secretly a bit tired of the surprises. Zak chuckled beside you.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” His eyes were on the road, shaded by his glasses. “But, I have a few questions.” He glanced over a winked. “What was your favorite exhibit in there?”
You turned your head forward towards the road as you thought. You honestly didn’t know the answer to the question. There were so many great pieces and stories that Zak has shared with you, that there was no possible way you could pick just one. You were sure you couldn’t even pick a top three.
“Oh, that a tough one.” You turned back to him, chuckling. “I loved all of it, but I have to say, all of your memorabilia from serial killers is seriously impressive.” You grinned as you remembered Zak’s handsome smile wide across his lips while he narrated the story behind each item.
“The serial killer room, huh?” His eyebrows shot far above the rim on his glasses. “Should I be worried?” he teased, squeezing your hand. You laughed, then peered down at your hand in his, balancing on the gear shift. When had he taken your hand? You smiled as you watched his thumb smooth soft circles over the back of your hand.
“No need to be worried,” you replied in a whisper, your eyes locked on your hands. Your heart pounded in your chest. “You aren’t dating a serial killer.”
Zak sighed jokingly and chuckled. “Oh, good. What a relief. I don’t plan on becoming a ghost just yet.” You cackled at his cheesy joke, rolling your eyes.
Tumblr media
The restaurant that Zak pulled up to was, indeed, very familiar. The quaint, yet modern little restaurant clear across town from the strip was well lit, and at least half-full already. The windows were lined with thick, crimson curtains, and the carpet was just a shade off from true black. It was posh, and that was the second time you ever even thought about using that word.
The first time was when you had first officially met the crew, other than Jay of course. It was the day of your ‘interview’ for the position.
Jay had set it all up for you after the two of you had talked for hours about how much you hated your shifts at the hospital. Like you told your mom, it wasn’t the people, it was the monotony of it all. And, as bad as it sounded in your head, it just wasn’t your passion.
And, that was just how it you explained it to the crew the last time you were in that little restaurant, too nervous to eat and too caught up in your nervous thoughts to appreciate the place. But, from what you remember telling Jay and Zak months later, the three bites of your meal were pretty memorable.
Zak pulled into a parking spot a few rows from the front door, where there were no other cars around, and shut off the car. He had a habit of doing that, or so you picked up.
Zak turned to you, not getting out of the car quite yet, and smiled.
“I know it’s not super fancy, but I think it means something for both of us. It was the first time I formally met you and realized that we were missing something on our team.” He offered a sincere smile. “And, well, this might sound cheesy, but you know I’m a cheese call.” He chuckled to himself. “But, that day, you took my breath away—” He stopped himself and huffed a nervous laugh. Zak Bagans, nervous? This was something I wasn’t you were used to seeing, or something you knew how to respond to.
So, you just sat there for a moment and smiled, taking in the gorgeous sight of Zak laughing at himself, and absorbing his last spoken words.
“Sorry, uh, how about we head inside, huh? I’m getting pretty hungry.” Zak grinned, leaning forward a little to catch your gaze. You smiled and nodded, then reached for the door handle.
Tumblr media
You followed Zak to the front door to the little restaurant, where the greeter at the front obviously recognized him, and probably recognized you too, but didn’t say anything. You watched as the young woman nearly leapt out of her skin as she fumbled for a few menus and saw you to your seats.
Once you were shown to your seat, the woman lingered for a moment longer, like she wanted to say something, but finally walked away. You were sure Zak could tell, and he usually liked interacting with fans, but she probably saw that it was just the two of you and didn’t want the truth to get out just yet.
Zak smiled at you from across the small, two-seater table. His icy blue gaze locked on yours and lingered, making you blush.
“This doesn’t feel weird to you, does it?” The question came out of left field, catching you completely off guard.
“I mean, a little, just because the other guys aren’t here. It’s not like we hang out, just the two of us, like ever.” You smiled, lowering your menu. “But, that doesn’t make it a bad thing. I’ve had a blast so far. And, I feel like I’m finally getting to know you. Yeah, we work together, but we don’t get to talk just the two of us very often. It’s like I know you, but I don’t really know you.”
You sucked in a breath, waiting for Zak to reply. Instead, his smile widened as he kept his gaze locked on your reddening cheeks.
“I’m rambling, aren’t I?”
Zak chuckled. “Yeah, a little bit.” He closed his menu and let out a long sigh. “But, you aren’t wrong.” You grinned.
“I rarely am.” Zak laughed, his arm moving to his stomach as he leaned back in his seat. You loved that deep, true laugh you were seeing more and more often lately. You wished he would laugh like that all the time.
And, maybe, that was your goal for tonight.
Tumblr media
Zak pulled into the parking lot of your condo building and parked in the spot closest to the front door. He leapt from the car to open your door for you. What a gentleman.
The two of you silently walked to the front door, stopping just a few feet from the glass barrier. The fluorescent bulbs in the dimly lit lobby illuminated Zak’s sharp features.
“Well, thank you for everything Zak. I know it sounds cheesy, but I haven’t had that much fun in a long time.” You felt your phone buzz in your bag, but you ignored it. Instead, you focused on the handsome man who stood just inches from you.
“Oh, you know me darlin’, cheesy is at least half of my personality,” he chuckled. “But I’m glad I didn’t bore you to death.” He winked.
“Bore me? No way! I’ve been waiting to see that museum of yours forever! And to be spoiled with a personal tour, well, let’s just say you made my year.” You could feel your heart pound in your chest. You wanted to kiss him, oh you wanted to shove him against the wall behind him and grip hard onto those broad shoulders. But, even though you knew Zak, you couldn’t let that kind of move make things weird between you.
Instead, you shifted your weight, fishing in your bag for your front door keys.
“Well, I guess this is goodnight. I’ll see you… soon? We have another episode to film in, what, a week?” You fumbled with your keys at your side.
“Yeah, but maybe we can have a second date before then? Tomorrow, I’m going to see my mom, and the next day I promised Aaron I’d go golfing with him, but maybe the day after that? We can grab lunch or something?” Well, it was a good sign that he was asking about a second date. Sure, it would have been awkward if he said he’d rather just be friends after this, but Zak wasn’t exactly the kind of person who would keep his thoughts to himself. If this didn’t feel right, he would have said so.
And that meant you were officially dating, which still blew your mind.
“Sure!” you agreed. “I don’t have anything planned for the rest of the week, which sounds kind of sad when I say it, but I’m totally down.” Zak beamed as he nodded.
“Cool. I’ll text you, and we can plan something.” He nodded. “I’m glad you had fun.” His head bowed just a little as his eyes searched for your gaze. “Goodnight.”
Zak took a step closer and reached out his hand, cupping your left cheek. Oh my god, this was it. Zak Bagans was going to kiss you.
The right side of your lip curled the moment his lips landed on yours. Zak’s thumb smoothed over your cheek as his lips moved ever so slowly, in sync with yours. He was warm, soft, and everything you had been daydreaming of when you drifted off in the car on your way to investigations. And, something about this contact just felt right.
Zak pulled away, keeping the contact short and sweet. He smiled down at you, silently searching for approval. You grinned, cheeks rosy and warm under his touch.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” he saluted in a low whisper before stepping away. He waved as he made his way back to his car. Then, with your head in the clouds, you turned towards the door.
Tumblr media
The moment you entered your building, you pulled your phone out of your bag. A new text from Jay popped up on your phone. Of course, the closest thing you had to a brother was checking in on you.
(9:25pm) Jay: Hey, are you still alive? How did it go?
(9:36pm) Y/N: It went great!! I had a lot of fun! Who knew Zak Bagans is a true gentleman?
(9:37pm) Jay: Oh, don’t feed into it. ;)
(9:38pm) Y/N: Well, until I have proof to the contrary, I say he actually has manners.
You slipped your phone into your pocket as you turned the lock on your door. Now that you were home, you realized you were exhausted. It had been an exciting day, and nothing sounded better than curling up on the couch and falling asleep to some trash TV.
The moment you pushed the door open, a swirling pink tornado encompassed you, completely coating you and the surrounding floor. What the… The fuzzy hall light illuminated the millions of pink particles that now surrounded you. Was that… glitter?
You blinked the horrendous substance from your eyelashes as rage built up from deep within your soul. You sucked in a deep, glitter-ridden breath and sighed.
“Fuck you, Aaron Goodwin.”

Imagine joining the GAC during an episode of Screaming Room…
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: teasing, fluff, brief hint at sexual themes (mainly through teasing).
A/N: This is my first GAC imagine/fic. Let me know how you like it. :)
Tumblr media
You settled into the usually empty spot in Zak’s home theater, between Zak and Aaron’s seats. You plopped your bag of popcorn, which Aaron had brought just for you, onto your lap. It was nice to have such a sweet friend, especially since you had forgotten to bring a snack with you. You were planning on stealing whatever ‘healthy’ snacks Zak was going to munch on. But, this was so much better.
Aaron roughly slammed into the seat beside you, laughing at something Billy had said. He was armed with his own bag of popcorn and several bags of candy.
“Dude, Y/N, why does your weirdo boyfriend always have to make a grand entrance?” Jay teased from your left. You smiled and rolled your eyes.
“I didn’t know that was a thing. This is only the third time I’ve done this.” You peered behind you to the door, spotting no sign of Zak. “Although, now that you say it, I’ve noticed that too. He’s just kinda dramatic, I guess.”
“That’s one word for him,” Aaron chimed in beside you. You instantly chuckled.
“Amen to that.” Your eyes glanced around the room, spotting several cameras. You barely noticed them now, having been on about a dozen investigations with the crew. Aaron was the kind of cameraman who nearly smacked you in the face with the camera every few minutes, whether he realized it or not. And, Zak always seemed to focus his camera on you when you were around. Figured.
“Hey guys,” Zak greeted as he made his way into the room. The moment he rounded his chair, his eyes were on you. “Hey, darlin’.”
“Hey.” He reached out and took your hand, squeezing it before letting go.
“Aw, I can hold your hand too, Zak,” Billy cooed from your right. He pursed his lips and made kissing noises.
“Dude, shut up,” Zak snapped as he lowered himself into his seat. Billy peered over to you and smiled, which you returned.
Zak announced the episode, which was one you remember watching quite a little while back. It wasn’t one that you remembered vividly, but it was one that Zak mentioned every once in a while. You grinned as the lights around you dimmed.
The episode rolled, instantly shooting to Zak, who, rather dramatically, announced the site.
“Oh my god, what is going on with your hair, Zak?” you blurted. Your eyes widened as you realized your thought was said aloud.
Aaron chuckled beside you. “Oh, dude. Your girl is dissing your hair.” You could feel Zak’s glare shoot through you. But, all you could do was smile. His hair was gelled up, like usual, but it was longer than he usually wore it. It was simply a spiny wall of gel.
“I mean, your hair is just standing a lot taller than usual here.” You stared at the screen while your verbal filter faded. “It looks great today,” you added, hoping to ease the palpable tension radiating off of Zak.
“Babe,” he gasped, holding his hand to his chest. “I’m offended. You—you insulted my hair.” He reached up, hovering a hand over his precious locks. “My hair.” You rolled your eyes and glanced back at the screen.
“I’m just saying, you were due for a trim.” You smiled as Zak pouted beside you. Aaron howled in laughter, forcing another giggle from you.
“Wow, Y/N, I’m hurt. My heart is broken.” Zak turned away and everyone refocused on the screen. You all watched as Zak led the rest of the intro and began the interviews.
About five minutes in, Zak reached out and silently took your hand in his. He kissed the top of your hand, then rested them on his leg without taking his eyes off the screen. Honestly, the two of you weren’t super open about displaying affection in front of the camera. However, on rare occasion, Zak would do something subtle like this.
And, sometimes, the others would point it out.
“Hey, no funny business you two!” Billy shouted, eyeing you from the front row. Zak scoffed beside you.
“What, I can’t hold the love of my life’s hand?” Your heart jumped at his words. He had never said that before, not in the almost year that the two of you had been a couple. You honestly couldn’t remember him ever saying those words about anyone in the over half-decade that you had known him.
“Looks like you’re forgiven about the hair thing, Y/N.” Billy chuckled and turned around, while Jay commented on something that happened on the screen.
Zak peered over to you, then squeezed your hand, making you smile. You squeezed back, like a silent ‘I love you’, then turned your attention back to the screen.

Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: just happy fluff and Zak being his adorkable self.
Word Count: 1,097
A/N: Please note: I have never been to Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum. So, any descriptions in this part pretty vague. Oh, and I’m sorry that this chapter may be a little bit slow. But, trust me, more is coming. Haha.

Zak slid out of the car and quickly made his way over to your side, pulled the door open for you. He extended his hand again.
“Ready for your personal tour?” Personal? Did he close the museum just to give you a tour? You peered around, finding no cars other than the Haunted Museum’s hearse parked a few spots away. Holy shit, he really did close the place down for you.
You took your handsome friend’s hand and allowed him to lift you from the car. He closed the door, keeping your hand in his, his fingers curling between yours. He proudly escorted the two of you down the narrow walkway that led to the front door.
The moment Zak unlocked the door, your stomach fluttered with excitement. This had been something you had wanted to do for a super long time. Ever since Jay had mentioned that Zak collected haunted artifacts, and owned his own freaking museum, you had been eager to see what kind of things he had collected other the years.
Now, over a year after becoming formally acquainted with Zak, you were finally going to see his collection in it’s entirety.
The moment the two of you had made it into the front room, Zak literally pulled you to the first cluster of items, instantly explaining each one with the widest smile you had ever seen. You listened as he nearly jumped out of his skin with excitement. His brilliant blue eyes glistened in the artificial light was he pointed to each item.
As you listened to the various stories, you realized how vastly intelligent Zak really was. You knew he was a history buff, but the amount of information he retained and retold about each and every item the two of you encountered was incredible. Honestly, you could listen him go on and on all day.
Luckily, that was the plan.
As he two of you moved on, connected by the hand, you could feel the absolute intensity of the place. It was like every single artifact was watching you as you walked passed, like the very souls of the former owners were hidden within the seams and surfaces of each item.
And you would tell the energy from certain pieces affected Zak. At times, he was quiet, almost somber as he spoke. Other times, he was like a kid in a freaking candy store. The shift was almost instant. You knew he was sensitive to the paranormal, much more than any other person you at come in contact with. But, this wasn’t the usual reaction you saw on lockdowns. This was subtle. If you weren’t as knowledgeable about the paranormal, and about Zak, you may not have noticed.
Zak smiled as he approached the next group of objects. “This is one that was offered to me at an investigation we did a few years back. The owner of the location approached me off camera and offered it to me. I mean, how could I say no?” Zak laughed, staring down at the item. His hand rested lightly on your shoulder, making that whole side of your body tingle.
“I mean, knowing you, I’m sure you could never refuse an offer like that,” you teased, nudging his side.
“Oh no, not a chance.” Zak stood beside you as the two of you studied the object for another moment, before leading you onto the next room.
Tumblr media
The two of you spent nearly three hours in the museum, wondering from room to room. Each of Zak’s stories was more thrilling than the next, and each room gave you a stronger case of the heebie-geebies.
Once the tour was officially complete, the two of you stood in front of the main entrance. Zak was still laughing from a joke you had muttered under your breath. God, he was freaking adorable when he laughed. The way his sparkling eyes squinted, and his nose scrunched just enough to force his glasses to slide down. His beautifully toned arm wrapped around his stomach as he leaned over.
“Oh my gosh, I walked into that one,” Zak huffed as he struggled to regain his composure.
“You really did,” you chuckled. “Anyways, thanks for showing me the place. I’m sure I got a much more detailed tour than most of your patrons.” You blushed a little. “I’d give the tour guide five stars,” you joked.
Zak smiled. “Oh, my pleasure. A little birdie told me that you have been dying to see what I have here. And now, you know as much about my collection as I do.” He winked, chuckling lightly to himself.
“Yeah, I’ve mentioned it once or twice to Jay over the years,” you teased. “I just can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get here.”
“Well, I knew you would appreciate a personal tour, and that took a little while to plan.” Your brow furrowed. A little while? How long had he been planning this for?
“Wait, what?” That was all you managed to mutter as your mind wrapped around your timeline. He had only asked you out a few days ago. Was he planning this before your lockdown?
Zak pursed his lips as he shifted his weight. “Yeah, well, let’s just say this was in the works for a little while.” You smirked.
“Oh, so when you asked me out, you were confident I would say yes?” Zak smiled.
“More hopeful than confident. But, let’s just say someone mentioned that you might feel the same way about me as I do of you.” Your heart fluttered at his admission. He was hoping that you liked him? You knew that was something you needed a while to process.
“Let me guess, a little birdie told you?” you played. Zak laughed.
“Yeah, a little birdie.” Dammit, Jay. So much for confiding in your best friend. Although, if he had filled Zak in on how you felt, he was the reason why you were where you were. So, you actually owed the man a thank you. Big time.
“That same little birdie told me that you really liked a little restaurant in town. What do you say to some dinner?” Zak extended his hand to you again. He obviously thought that was a suave move.
It definitely was.
“There are a ton of places I like in town, so that doesn’t narrow it down very much. But, either way, I’m down for some dinner.” You took his hand again. With his award-winning smile, he led you out the door, and onward to your next mysterious location.

Flavor-Free
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: none.
Word Count: 542
A/N: This is inspired by Zak’s sugar-free phase. I tried some sugar-free snacks, because I’m diabetic, and they were… well… not so great.
Tumblr media
You lifted yourself from the couch, on a mission to find snacks. Whenever you watched a movie, you loved having something sweet. Your go-to were sour gummies, but almost anything sugary would work. Zak had already made his organic popcorn, but that alone wasn’t going to cut it.
You needed sugar, pronto.
The moment the pantry door opened, you frowned. It was full of protein powders, protein bars, a couple boxes of popcorn, and a few mysterious bags of... Wait, was that candy? You picked up one of the bags. The highlighter yellow plastic practically screamed back to you, making it hard to read what is actually was.
“Sour blast gummies. Huh,” you muttered to yourself as you ripped the top open. The tiny, multi-colored treats looked just like smaller Sour Patch Kids. “Works for me.”
Sweets in hand, you shuffled your way back to Zak’s theater room, where he was waiting for you in his usual spot. You loved movie nights, especially when it was just the two of you. Of course, when you were there alone, he always insisted on watching a horror movie. But, you were getting used to them, and he was always right there to hold you when something made you jump out of your skin.
You plopped down in your seat right beside your boyfriend, who quickly wrapped his arm behind you. He pressed the play button, making you smile with anticipation.
A minute into the opening scene, you reached into the candy bag in your lap and popped a few of the gummies into your mouth. Your face immediately twisted.
“Oh my god, what the hell are these?” You held up the yellow bag, grimacing as you struggled to chew the horrendous excuse for candy.
“Oh, those are some candies I found at the health food store. They sounded good.” Zak smirked as you face continued to twist.
“They taste like soap, and I mean that in the worst way possible. I feel like I just licked the inside of a Palmolive bottle.”
“They’re sugar-free,” Zak chuckled, reaching to try some for himself. He chucked a handful into his mouth. He pursed his lips. “Oh.”
“Yeah, more like flavor-free. They taste like chemicals, which isn’t a flavor. What the hell is that aftertaste?”
“Probably the stevia,” he answered, squinted as he tried to read the back of the bag. “I thought they sounded good.” He slowly closed the bag, then slipped it between you. “You’re right, they do taste like soap.”
You rolled your eyes, then reached for some popcorn. “I need to get this taste out of my mouth.” He shoved a large handful of popcorn into your mouth and smiled, savoring the delicious flavor. “Babe, no offense, but I’m not joining you on the sugar-free bandwagon. I value my taste buds and my digestive tract too much.” Zak laughed, shaking his head.
“Hey, not all sugar-free stuff tastes bad,” Zak defended.
“Yeah, but all of it hurts your stomach after a while.” You grinned, nudging him.
“Okay, okay. I’ll buy you real candy next time. At least we have popcorn.” Zak leaned in and kissed your temple, making you smile.
“Yeah, no more flavor-free crap, please,” you demanded teasingly.
“Sugar-free,” Zak corrected.
“Whatever.”

Here and Now - Part 3
Zak Bagans x Reader
Warnings: None. Just some playful, sarcastic teasing.
Word Count: 1,283
Series Master List || My Fanfic Master List
Tumblr media
You munched on your pancakes as you watched your favorite show on your iPad. This was the time you loved, the time where you could just veg out and relax. You were sporting some black leggings and a long, very oversized shirt you found at the bottom of your drawer a few months back. The origin of the garment was totally forgotten, but it was freaking comfy.
Your phone buzzed beside you, nearly making your jump out of your skin. Peering down at the screen, you chuckled.
1 New Message: Aar Bear
(3:05pm) Aaron: So, I hear someone I know has a date tomorrow…
You groaned. Oh boy. What was this dork going to tease you about now?
(3:07pm) Y/N: Well, technically, two people you know have a date tomorrow.
(3:09pm) Aaron: I know. Two of my favorite people. I just wanted to say I hope you have fun, and that I’m happy for you. Both of you.
(3:10pm) Y/N: Thanks Aaron. I’m sure it will be fun. Zak said it’s a surprise and won’t tell me where he’s taking me. :(
(3:13pm) Aaron: Well, trust me, it will be fun. ;D
(3:15pm) Y/N: Wait, you know where we’re going? Dude, tell me!!!
You frowned and sighed. Sure, you liked having things planned out for you. But, you liked knowing what you were talking into. Too much of your life, especially recently, involved the unknown. So, in your private life, you preferred predictability.
(3:16pm) Aaron: Of course I do! I helped him plan it! Well, just the details. It was mostly his master plan.
Your stomach sank a little. If Aaron had anything to do with this date, you knew there was going to be some sort of joke on you.
(3:18pm) Well, if you try to sneak a prank in on this date, I’m going to make sure the rest of your life is absolute hell. And that’s not a threat, it’s a promise.
(3:19pm) Aaron: Oh, don’t worry. It will be perfect.
Well, that didn’t ease your nervousness at all. If anything, that wasn’t exactly a ‘no’ on the whole prank thing. You honestly wouldn’t put it past him to show up during your date, or tape you from afar.
But, you weren’t going to allow yourself to dwell on that. You were looking forward to seeing Zak one-on-one, going on whatever adventure he had planned for you.
You took your last bite of pancakes, then headed for your living room. Tomorrow was going to be great, you had no doubt. Well, almost no doubt. But, for now, you needed to rest and daydream about what was to come.
Tumblr media
You leapt to your feet the moment your doorbell rang. Sure, you were still a bit sleep deprived, but the adrenaline running through you was enough to give you more energy that you usually had on a normal day.
Plus, Zak had promised you coffee.
You opened the door to reveal a very dapper looking Zak. You smiled, taking in his very well fitted button-down short sleeved shirt, and his black cargo pants. His hair was gelled in its usual way, and his glasses were perched on his nose as normal, but something about him seemed even more handsome today.
Or maybe it was your excitement.
“Good afternoon, gorgeous. Did you sleep well?” He smiled, his hands deep in his pockets.
You nodded. “Oh yeah. I woke up just after noon. It was glorious.” Zak laughed.
“Sounds like we had the same morning.” He peered down the hall towards the glass doors at the front of your building. “Well, your chariot awaits,” he chuckled, extending his hand. “Shall we?”
Your chest fluttered the moment your hand slipped into his. This is really happening. Your tiny backpack rocked against the right side of your back as he led you down the hall towards his car.
Once you were in the car, Zak gestured to his ridiculously fancy center console, where two large cups of coffee were waiting for you. You grinned, realizing you probably needed the coffee more than you thought.
“Yours is right here. It’s a caramel… something. I can’t pronounce the freaking word. The girl at the drive through had a field day correcting me.” Zak chuckled and rolled his eyes.
“A macchiato?” you guessed, making sure to annunciate every syllable.
“Yeah, a mackato.” You laughed, quickly clutching your coffee with both hands, making sure not to spill it in Zak’s fancy ride.
“Macchiato,” you repeated, struggling to hold back your chuckle.
“Right, that’s what I said.” You just rolled your eyes, giggling to yourself. He was such a dork.
“Right.” You turned to look out the window as Zak pulled out of his parking spot.
“So, are you excited about our adventure?” Zak inquired, his eyes glued to the road. You took a sip of your coffee. A caramel macchiato indeed.
“I’m excited. However, I’d be a little more excited if I knew where we were going.” You turned to him, offering a questioning, yet playful glare.
Zak smirked, his eyes still on the road as he turned. “Well, let’s just say it’s somewhere you’ve been whining about not being able to go to. But, it’s somewhere that the rest of the team has been more times than we can count.” Zak glanced over at you as he reached for his own coffee. “And, well, let’s just say I’m also kind of offended you haven’t been there yet.”
You snapped your head towards him. Was he taking you to a location? Was he going to have you investigate a place together? Sure, you loved your job, but that wasn’t exactly your idea of romantic. Plus, what place hadn’t you investigated in Vegas?
So, where the hell was he taking you? It almost seemed like he was driving in circles, trying to throw you off and confuse you. It had almost been four years since you had moved to Vegas, and you had worked at two hospitals in that town. It was safe to say you knew where you were going. Not to mention that Zak had been living there for far longer than that.
And this route was, well, it was definitely a diversion.
“Are you giving me the scenic tour of Vegas first?” you teased, catching on to his game. Zak huffed a laugh. “I have to say, Mr. Bagans, you’re a pretty crappy tour guide.”
“There’s no fooling you, is there? Okay, we’re almost there anyway.”
You took another sip of your coffee, catching a glimpse of Zak’s stunning profile. “Good, ‘cause I’m getting carsick,” you played. Zak scoffed, pretending to be offended.
“Hey, I’m a very good driver.”
“You believe whatever you want. But, let’s just say you’re lucky you’re cute,” you teased, your lips curling into an almost painful smile. The two of you burst into laughter.
He winked. “Damn right, I am.”
Zak turned down a street you distinctly remembered, catching you off guard. Wait, no, he wouldn’t bring you there. Your heart leapt into your throat as excitement prickled under your skin. Now everything was starting to make sense.
Zak pulled into the private, gated parking lot of the one place of significance to Zak that you hadn’t been to yet. You stared at the front sign of the building, taking in the reality of it.
“Well here we are,” Zak announced with a smile. He seemed almost as excited as you were, and he owned damn the place. “I hope I can redeem my tour guide reputation.”
You stared up at the building in front of you in a mix of shock and awe. “Wow, freaking finally.” You grinned. “The Haunted Museum.”
