OFMD
I continue to be baffled and disappointed by the decisions of streaming services. Honestly, I’m not especially dissatisfied with the way OFMD S2 ended (apart from Izzy’s fate, which I thought was bollocks), but it seemed clear to me that DJ felt he had more to do, more to say. Meanwhile the medium remains saturated with the bland, the formulaic, the safe. What’s to become of it all when these companies actively militate against risk-taking, even when it *works*?! Either way, not good news for the creative industries.
I love writing in the fandom, and I’ve got no intention of stopping now. They can’t cancel OUR creativity.
My existing OFMD fics are listed below; they’re not the best out there, but they come from a place of inspiration and love, and I hope they bring some joy. I’m also working on a multi-chapter modern AU which I can’t wait to share. I hope others will keep working on their stories and art, too.
Ruin Me
Stede finally tells Ed what Chauncey said the night they parted.
(Teen And Up Audiences - 250 words)
Intertwined
Stede likes keepsakes.
(General Audiences - 100 words)
St(ed)e
Stede and Ed have a tender moment in the cabin, where Ed’s learning to read and write.
(Teen And Up Audiences - 500 words)
The Good Plan
Ed’s been a bit stressed lately. Fortunately, Stede knows how to ease the tension . . .
(Explicit - 4061 words)
Love Me (Fast and Slow)
Izzy tells Stede to give Ed space after their fight. Stede does the exact opposite. Fortunately, that turns out to be a good call.
(Mature - 6657 words)
One Rabbit And You
Ed and Stede end a long day the right way, before coming to a decision.
(Explicit - 4140 words)

And art by the ridiculously talented and kind @sous-le-saule (I’m sorry I didn’t say your name the first time - that was rubbish of me!)
Very tearful when I opened this today. I write fan fiction with no delusions of being anything more than a mediocre writer. And, actually, I’m kind of OK with that. I try to improve all the time, obviously, but I’m someone who’s made peace with being middle of the road. I’ll never top any lists, but the process makes me happy, and I think that’s enough.
So when someone contacts me to let me know they’ve enjoyed one of my stories, obviously I’m thrilled. It bringing joy to me is one thing, but for it to create a bit of joy for someone else is much nicer. Positive feedback, given without any expectation of anything in return, is a gift; it’s kind and it’s heartwarming and there’s not enough kind and heartwarming in the world.
Imagine how proud and grateful I feel that the brilliant, not *at all* mediocre @dotsaremycomfortzone chose to print and bind a copy of my God’s Own Country AU, ‘Safe’. I’m still in disbelief that she thought it was good enough to be worth bothering her intricate, exquisite talent with, but being able to look at it and touch it makes me feel good about the sheer amount of hard work and vulnerability I put into that story. It may be an infinitesimally small achievement compared to many others out there, but holding this beautiful little book, it feels massive to me, like something I still can’t quite believe I’m capable of doing, even in a flawed way.
This arrived about an hour ago and it’s already one of my most precious treasures. It’s something I can pull out and gaze at when my confidence as a writer is a tripping hazard in hell (often!). It is a beautiful thing, beautifully done, and means an enormous amount to me.
Give @dotsaremycomfortzone a follow to see what she’s about. What an extraordinary talent. I cannot thank her enough.

Look at it! Look at it with your eyes! I’m bloody chuffed with this. What a talent and a half.
Hi so I did a thing again.
It may have taken me over a year from start to finish, but I finally bound Safe by the lovely @themewsatten
Firefighter Johnny Saxby keeps to himself most of the time. When Gheorghe Ionescu arrives at the station on a transfer, will Johnny be able to hold up the walls he’s worked so hard to build around himself?
It may have taken a even longer because I decided that I wanted to paint the faux leather… (ft. My ugly yellow floors that makes one of my friends laugh every time she sees them and a messy desk)
Also used some embroidery floss for the headbands but I forgot to take pictures (whoops).
Go read the story!

Hi,
I finally finished the binding of Safe! You asked for pictures so here they are:
It took me a little while to finally get to printing an sewing, and then I decided I wanted to paint the faux leather instead of just hot foiling it.
The end pages are by (can’t find who made the first art piece anymore) & nilhilstatari.
Hope it’s a bit like you expected and again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for writing it!
So this made me ugly cry this morning. The wonderfully talented @dotsaremycomfortzone has bound ‘Safe’, my God’s Own Country AU, into a beautiful, beautiful little book. I can’t tell you how special this is. Thank you so, so much!
If you haven’t read the fic and think you’d like to, it’s here https://archiveofourown.org/works/16387670/chapters/38357546
