Why it is hard to manifest large amounts of money, and why it is hard to win the lottery through the use of magick:

Practitioners come to magick in order to manifest what they want into the world, and quite often these practitioners will decide that riches are what they want to manifest into their life. It is important to understand that one can manifest wealth, and abundance, but higher end, or or continuous versions of this will be more difficult to produce. It is not impossible, there are magical practitioners who have gone through the process when manifesting these things within their life, and do enjoy a good amount of luxury. Though there are many pitfalls one would have to watch out for that would allow the process not to work, and because of this it seems to only really be effective for a select few in specific cases.

The two points that we would like to talk about in this post are probability, and power. Probability being the likeliness of it happening, and Power in reference to what it would take in order to get it done. These are two of the main reasons why we see this to most likely not be a very effective form of practice and why many people who study these practices don’t have a high abundance of a material wealth.

Probability, and Power:

Let’s first talk about probability, and how this money will end up in your life. There are not many ways for riches to be manifested into your life, and being in the right place at the right time in order to receive these riches are usually places in which most people do not have access to. Magick works in a subtle way, and travels through the path of least resistance, and it would be hard for there to be an outlet of high amounts of money for most common people. A spell targeted to bring you a million dollars would have very limited ways of getting to someone who is impoverished, or is even of the middle class, though if someone of a position of the higher class who works with this type of money all the time did a spell for it, it would most likely have many different ways that it would be able to appear in their life. It’s not like someone was going to drop 1 million dollars on the ground, and not notice, so the way it gets to you is very important, and most people do not have the privilege to be in such positions that’s such money can enter their lives. Because it would have a harder time to manifest in such a person’s life who did not have access to these situations it would also require more power on their end in order to force it to happen through other forms of channels.

This is also usually why people go for the lottery, or influencing other forms of gambling, because that could act as an outlet point for receiving such money. But, we also have a probability problem with the lottery, and because of this it’s already insanely hard to get anything out of it. You are also not going to be the only person playing the lottery, and you are already at such a physical disadvantage for winning. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice then winning the lottery, and even with a spiritual advantage from whatever form of magick you can cook up you still most likely will not win. There are also many other people consciously, and unconsciously who have put their spiritual practices into the ring, which does not bode well for your probability of winning. Other people are going to be using magick, prayers, and other forms of things to get an advantage in the lottery. Every person who even goes to the process of buying a lottery ticket puts power towards them manifesting winnings, which in turn decreases your chance of winning. Because of how difficult this process is it would take a lot of power in order to even come close to manifesting a lottery win. This amount of power most likely will not be able to be mustered simply through the magical practice of any individual, and would most likely require some divine intervention in order for it to come to pass, or you would have to get extremely lucky.

A practitioner also to be wealthy needs to have money coming into their life continuously, so that they can sustain their way of living. Practitioners can definitely make money come to them, but when you need money to come to you on a continuous basis that is much harder to be manifested. It would be much easier to manifest money once rather than a continuous income, but a continuous income is needed for life, for people do not need to be fed once, they need to be fed continuously. You may be in the right spot to receive a couple dollars here in there, but it usually is never financially stable enough to live off of which would require you most likely to manifest a job rather than money.

Money magick can be an incredibly rewarding process to undertake that can bring to you the capital you need in specific situations. Though these understandings can be quite powerful and effective it is important to remember that pursuing very high ambitions in regards to it can result in a very ineffective practice. It may simply be easier to manifest things you need the money for, or for a certain type of situation that could result in you receiving the money. Everyone can struggle financially regardless of if you are a powerful practitioner of magick, a priests, or simply a mundane person. Such things do not devalue your practice, and are not necessary to prove your practice is legitimacy.

Sneak Preview of The Sisters Grimmoire Vol. II - The Shining Web

Towards morning a dense damp fog lay over the whole neighbourhood; later on came an icy wind, which sent the frost packing. But when the sun rose, it was a glorious sight. The trees and shrubs were covered with rime, and looked like a wood of coral, and every branch was thick with long white blossoms. The most delicate twigs, which are lost among the foliage in summer-time, came now into prominence, and it was like a spider's web of glistening white. The lady-birches waved in the wind; and when the sun shone, everything glittered and sparkled as if it were sprinkled with diamond dust, and great diamonds were lying on the snowy carpet.

Intent: To repel trouble from the home.

Materials:

Medium embroidery hoop

White yarn

Silver or light grey yarn

Glue

Paper plate

White and silver glitter (or color of choice)

Assorted charms / bells / chimes / herb bundles for protection

Large jump ring for hanging

Note: If you prefer not to work with glitter, metallic silver string or embroidery floss may be substituted when constructing the web.

Ideal Timing: This charm can be made at any time.

Construct a five-pointed star web within the embroidery hoop using the white yarn. Lay the hoop over the paper plate, apply glue to the yarn strands, and sprinkle glitter over top. Flip the web and repeat, then let it dry. Re-attach the outer hoop and tighten the screw. Wrap both halves of the hoop with silver or light grey yarn, weaving around the strands of the web where they anchor to the edges. Be careful not to distort the weaving you’ve already done.

Attach charms, bells, herb bundles, or talismans for protection to the five points, whatever you like. If you choose to use heavier items, such as wind chimes, stone charms, or suncatcher prisms, make sure the items are well-balanced and not too heavy for the mobile. String five strands of yarn from the star points to the jump ring and tie firmly, so that the hoop will hang horizontally, parallel to the floor, with the decorations hanging below.

Hang the web wherever it suits your fancy, preferably somewhere that gets a bit of sun so you can enjoy the sparkles!

Sneak Preview of The Sisters Grimmoire Vol. II - Make Sure You Lock Up

Intent: To set your household wards when you lock your front door.

Materials:

Your front door key

Ideal Timing: Whenever you cast or refresh your household wards

A witchling once approached me with the following question: "How do household wards know when and when not to let people in?" My answer was simple: "You tell them the difference." This spell is one example of how to do just that. It works best when you are the homeowner, but as long as you call the place home, it should work.

Upon completion of your ritual for setting household protections, whatever that may be, take your house key and go to the front door. Place your dominant hand flat against the inside of the door, with the key between your palm and the door's surface.

Say in a strong clear voice:

This is my home And I hold the key; No one may enter Unless bidden by me.

If you feel the need, you can repeat this on other exterior doors for added security. Upon leaving your home, make sure you lock your doors and windows. The act of locking the front door from the outside with your key sets the wards until you return.

After you lock your front door, place your hand upon it and say, "No one but me." If someone else is to allowed in, include them as well, i.e. "No one but me or my spouse/roommate/parent/child/etc." Again, this will work best for people who actually live in the home, or whom you've given permission to be there in your absence.

Please note that this is not a foolproof method for deterring intruders. Take any and all mundane measures of security needed to ensure the safety of your home and its' occupants.

The Red Flower - For Removing Enchantment

Joringel went away, and at last came to a strange village; there he kept sheep for a long time. He often walked round and round the castle, but not too near it. At last he dreamt one night that he found a blood-red flower, in the middle of which was a beautiful large pearl; that he picked the flower and went with it to the castle and that everything he touched with the flower was freed from enchantment; he also dreamt that by means of it he recovered his Jorinda.

Intent: To remove an enchantment or bewitchment placed upon another.

Materials: Jar with tight-fitting lid Photo of the bewitched person Herbs: Red Aster, Red Geranium, Red Poppy, Red Rose, Vetiver

Ideal Timing: Waning Moon

This spell is meant to remove an enchantment or bewitchment placed upon your lover, or upon someone you care about. It is not meant to break a curse or a hex, but more meant to return a person to their natural state when their attitudes or actions have been altered by magic.

Collect the petals of a red aster, a red geranium, a red poppy, and a red rose. Dry them in the sun until completely stiff. Combine these with four pinches of vetiver.

(Pro-tip: If you have trouble finding a particular bloom for spellwork, roses may be substituted for any other flower. In this case, Red Rose petals may stand in for the Aster, Geranium, and Poppy, if need be.)

Place the petals and pinches of herb in a jar with a photograph of the person who you believe is bewitched. Leave the jar in the sun for three days, then place the photo and the dried herbs in a sachet beneath their pillow.

If your lover is some distance away, retain the photograph in a safe place and either burn the dried petals, which will have absorbed the enchantment, or toss them into fast-moving wind or water to dissipate the spell.

Roughskin - A Protective Glamour Spell

“Before I consent to your wish, I shall require three things - a dress as golden as the sun, another as silvery as the moon, and a third as glittering as the stars; and besides this, I shall require a mantle made of a thousand skins of rough fur sewn together, and every animal in the kingdom must give a piece of his skin toward it.”

[…] In the night, when every one slept, she rose and took from her jewel-case a gold ring, a gold spinning-wheel, and a golden hook. The three dresses of the sun, moon, and stars she folded in so small a parcel that they were placed in a walnut shell; then she put on the fur mantle, stained her face and hands black with walnut-juice, and committing herself to the care of Heaven, she left her home.

Intent: To protect and disguise oneself from those who mean to harm you.

Materials:

Empty walnut shell, in halves

A piece of your own hair or a nail clipping

Small patchwork cloth bag

Glue & rubber band

Herbs: Dogbane, Hyssop, Basil, Heather, Juniper Berries, Poppy Seeds

Ideal Timing: Full Moon, for protection, but can be performed anytime.

Obtain an empty walnut shell. You can use the shells off of the whole bagged walnuts that most grocery stores carry in the produce section. Try to crack the walnut so that the shell comes away in two halves. This makes reassembling it for the charm much easier.

Mix the following herbs together in small pinches:

Dogbane - for disguise

Hyssop - for warding off harm

Basil - for general protection

Heather Blossom - for warding off assault

Juniper Berries - for secret-keeping

Poppy Seeds - for invisibility

Carefully stuff the herb mixture into the two empty halves of the walnut. Use little dots of glue to help the herbs stay in place. At the very last, add a strand of your hair or a nail clipping. Line the edges of the shell with glue and carefully fit them back together. Wrap them with the rubber band to keep everything in place until the glue dries.

Once the charm is dry, place it in a patchwork cloth bag. You can purchase one or make it yourself. It only has to be large enough to hold the walnut.

Hold the bag between your palms and say:

I garb myself in many skins To keep harm out and safety in I place the truth within this shell Now guard my life and guard it well

You can either carry the bag with you whenever you feel you need protection, or you can hide the bag in a wooden box if one is available.

On May 1st, 2020, I embarked on a new project - a podcast based in practical secular witchcraft which combined advice for practitioners, discussion of the modern witchcraft movement, and the history behind our practices. Needless to say, it's been a RIDE!

The Sisters Grimmoire - A Bellyful of Stones

When the wolf at length had had his sleep out, he got on his legs, and as the stones in his stomach made him very thirsty, he wanted to go to a well to drink. But when he began to walk and to move about, the stones in his stomach knocked against each other and rattled. Then cried he,

“What rumbles and tumbles Against my poor bones? I thought ‘twas six kids But it’s naught but big stones.”

And when he got to the well and stooped over the water and was just about to drink, the heavy stones made him fall in and there was no help, but he had to drown miserably.

Greed is a curse unto itself, and this spell turns that malice back onto a person whose greed is harming the people around them.

Make or acquire a cloth poppet. You’re going to be stuffing the poppet, so make sure it’s a decent size, with plenty of room in the stomach area.

It is not necessary to have any hair or nails from the target in order to make the spell work, but it can help. In the absence of such things, you can name the poppet thus:

“Poppet, I name you [NAME]. Your limbs are their limbs. Your flesh is their flesh. As you suffer, so shall they suffer.”

With scissors or a small sharp blade, open a slit in the belly of the poppet. If there is pre-existing filling, remove some of it. Into the cavity where the stomach might be, place a whole chili pepper (any kind will do), seven small pebbles, and seven tacks or thorns. Carefully stitch the poppet closed and whisper to it:

“Rumble and tumble, A pepper and stones. Swallow your greed, And choke on the bones.”

Take the poppet to a deep body of water, such as a lake or pond, and drop it into the deepest part you can reach. If such a body of water is not available, you can “drown” the poppet in a bucket of water for three nights and then discard it with your garbage.

I think blasphemy is good, actually. I think that we should make fun of and play with our religious process. I think that we should tease our gods. If we're doing outright disrespect, well, I don't think that it's the right religion for us, but I think that in whatever religion we're in, we ought to have a little permission be able to play around with it a little. Snicker during ritual. Make memes with the gods' faces. Get silly. Break a rule sometimes. Love is formed in play.
