Imogen Herondale being the only one who recognized Jace's birthmark was so significant to me, because she just knew. She hardly denied it. She was the first person who knew Jace was a Herondale and she only told him that his dad(Stephen) would be proud of him. Because although he might find out his true heritage later, he might not get to hear those words from any of his actual relatives if Imogen died, and he would consider others are lying. That was more important.

on my tmi reread I actually cried during that moment. I was so excited for it and it left me thinking about Imogen for longer than normal. She lived most of her life grieving and ice-cold because her family had been ruined. She was alone and only in her final moments she got to know that the Herondale name will live on after her. She got to look at her grandson properly. I can't imagine the regret she must've felt when she realized she'd been against him the whole time, not caring one bit about him.

wow that's a lot of hate, but that's your opinion and it's fine😭 i mean obviously it's not the best shadowhunters series(because of that specific part of the plot that everyone hates mostly), but personally i enjoyed the writing, especially for a debut series. CCs writing style is one of my favorites.

And also Alec didn't really have a personality of his own until he met Magnus, let's be real now. He was considered Jace's shadow and he admired Jace a lot, which naturally made him think about what he would do or think about certain things. Magnus himself notices it and says Alec is like silver and Jace is like gold. Most people go for gold, so silver is not considered as special. That's how it starts, anyway.

I also found the demon thing hard to imagine because in my head Alec is exactly like the one in the tv show for tmi. But all in all he's had a huge improvement, been through enough to become stronger emotionally and physically, with many qualities. There's a reason people chose him as the new consul :)

my fav tsc trilogy for multiple reasons and THIS is one of them.

Do you ever find yourself just sitting and thinking about how hard it must have been to write a family of seven siblings and make them all unique and interesting, yet give them these similar threads that tie them back to one another. And like not only did cassie succeed in that, but all the blackthorns literally go so hard?? Mark being the lost son who doesn’t know how to be who people want him to be and Julian being the boy who had to grow up too fast who’s whole life is his siblings, and when he tries to reach for something that’s just for him it ends up being catastrophic. We’ve got Livvy, the heart of the family and their true north, and Ty, who can’t imagine navigating the world without her. There’s Dru, desperate to be taken seriously and treated like an adult, and Tavvy, who’s younger than his years because of his trauma. Half these characters don’t even have POVs and yet they’re all so alive to me. Forget warlocks and faeries, this right here is the real magic of TDA.

reading this when you're the same age as the characters is the best thing ever, because it felt so relatable too😭 but even now while rereading it years later, i have to say it still hits the spot.

I honestly have so much love for city of bones. Is some of the dialogue bleach-your-eyeballs-cringe? Yes. But that’s part of its 2007 charm. I love how Clary is so unhinged but in the way that all 15/16 year old girls should be unhinged (she is honestly a star among ya female protagonists of her time). I love that they’re all significantly traumatized and Jace wants to die and they’re just like yuuuup this is normal. I love how Alec threatens to kill Clary and we don’t even address that fact that this was wrong until TFSA. I love that Clary and Izzy both say no thanks no female friendships for me I hate all women. I love the pure unhinged chaos that is this book.
