I know Arya and Bran very rarely think of each other but I headcanon they were best friends idc it makes sense they were both always going around causing chaos in Winterfell so why wouldn’t they do it together

I have come to the end of my Asoiaf reread. Some thoughts…
First off thank GOD for whoever compiled a Ball of Beasts, it made the last two books so much more fun to read.
- I noticed the stylistic difference in pov chapters a lot more this time. Arya’s Braavos chapters were so unique in how they were written compared to other characters—I feel like you can tell when a chapter is more of a perfunctory inclusion or when George just didn’t have the sauce. Tyrions final chapter in Dance stands out as particularly sauceless.
- Meereen was actually fun! I liked all of Dany’s chapters she’s one of the most realistically human feeling characters in the series. I think after book one George’s approach to character, especially Dany, changed drastically once the overall pace of the series slowed down to what it is now. aGoT gives us such a limited look into Dany’s character compared to the pure candid stream of consciousness approach we get in Dance.
- George’s dialogue is still the best in the game. That screenwriting careeer really shines here. Every line feels like something that would be actually said in a conversation which is not how most fantasy is written. So many great quotables and one liners.
- these books are often touted as “realistic” “gritty” and my favorite “GRIMDARK” but they’re so so cartoonish and funny too! I think the comedy can be kind of subtle but it’s literally everywhere.
- Jon totally deserved to die Lol and upon reread the pink letter is still so so so frustrating.
- so many recurring lines or thoughts specific to each character. Jon thinking of Robb with snowflakes melting in his hair, Arya of Jon mussing her hair, Tyrion’s where do whores go and “all dwarves are bastards in their father’s eyes”, Jaime’s osmund and lancel and moon boy for all I know… the writing captures to impact of little things like this, one off moments or words spoken to us that we carry forever.
- characters have consistent habits! More authors need to do this because it makes it so so much more real. Jon always clenches his sword hand after he burns it because Aemon told him to. Arya always bites her lip, even though the faceless men tell her specifically not to. Tyrion scratches at his nose all the time. Dany puts on Drogo’s white lion pelt when she’s insecure. Catelyn prays frequently. Ned loves fashion. So much strong characterization is in the details!
- by the time callbacks are made to previous books it really feels like a lot of time has passed. When Arya thinks of a girl she once knew who loved lemon cakes (I tearsd up at that line) I realized how long it had been since she had last seen Sansa or anyone else for that matter.
- I love how romanticized the days before Robert’s rebellion are. Every pov who was alive back then has regrets, idealized visions of how things could have gone, or wishes things had gone differently. Its so mysterious and makes characters like Rhaegar and Ashara do much more interesting.
- idc I think Aegon is real I’m a targ loyalist

Areo Hotah & Arys Oakheart watercolor
The Dorne plot line is kind of half baked but I always liked the scenery and side characters it introduced, The Queenmaker chapter is a highlight from Feast and Oakheart’s death was admittedly kind of dumb but at least he went out with a bang. Yeah everyone talks about how Hotah absolutely wrecks his shit but that’s after Arys kills a handful of guys and is thrown from his horse, not really a fair fight. Put some respect on Arys Oakheart he’s the most slept on kingsguard knight. Anyways don’t forget: stan Dorne stan Arianne stan Darkstar all day everyday

More cyberpunk drawings
Street Ronin — a rare variety of mercenary, some warriors still cling to outdated methods of combat in a vain attempt to keep lost history alive. In a world where combat is dominated by slug shooters and laser rifles, a man who only carries a blade is worth fearing.
Bikeblades — biker gangs have an odd sense of honor, many considering it “unsportmanslike” to use firearms when riding against rival gangs. As such, many rely on cheap katanas or pipe clubs or other close quarters weaponry.

Arm gun implants variety pack
Cyborg assassin — modified in illegal laboratories, cybernetic hunters like this rely extensively on implants and body mods.
Gadgets and accessories — I think drawing on more of the 90s/y2k tech aesthetic for a cyberpunk setting would be cool, more bright colors and rounded shapes and nostalgic but still futuristic tech design
Borgbrain — a term used by city kids to mock those who replace more and more of their bodies with steel. More dangerous due to extensive implants and enhancements, but equally limited by what they can’t replace.

Cyberpunk character sketches/aesthetic exploration
Been playing around with some character design ideas so here’s a dump with brief descriptions
Ex-mil gun for hire — when there’s no war, soldiers turn into cheap mercenaries. No price too low, as long as they get to empty their mags at someone.
Seraphim Monk — high orbit angels rarely leave the man made heaven of their satellite enclaves, and the revelations they deliver are rarely less than fatal. Their prices are unholy, but they live up to their lofty reputation.
Street style — style is eclectic and colorful, hairstyles are unpredictable, and new fashion trends are born every day among the urban youth only to be forgotten by the next. In a future where everyone stands out, it’s that much harder to blend in.
Port head — soft tech addicts may not be adorned with body mods or replaced limbs, but the software they slot more than makes up for that. Adaptors for drive types most people never heard of this side of the pacific, hardlinked neural ram boosters, and of course, portable compdecks modded and tricked out into the next decade. Hardcore port heads have seen every type of software on the net, but spend so much time there that their bodies go to waste.
Vampire cult assassin — dangerous business in the city is often conducted under cover of night, and it is said all that happens at night is the business of the vampire cult. Mystics who shun technological implants, they rely instead on biological modifications for superior strength and hearing. Enhanced eyes help by night, but blind them by day. The vampire cult eats only organic meat—hard to come by when synthetic protein is the standard for most, but their high prices pay for their needs… and tales of them drinking human blood still circulate, though only in daylight.
Junkyard diver — the massive scrap fields hold many treasures for those brave enough to venture into the tunnels and pools most have forgotten. Ancient technologies, lost relics, junkers claim every scrap of metal to be worth something… but most are no more than the junk they seem.
Bioelectricity vendor — the electric currents of one’s body are harnessed for many implants and hard body mods, but in destitute areas even electricity is a commodity. Some who can afford the equipment resort to charging batteries with their own body, wiring away their life watt by watt for less than dirt so some other beggar can power their tech for one more hour.
Third eye gang member — when they join the third eye, members have their first two removed and a new one implanted in their forehead and hardwired into their frontal lobe. Each member can see from the eyes of each other, and they never blink.
Street tough — those with the muscle and balls to earn their way in blood find many ripe fruits in the city, as long as they know which implants mean combat expertise and which are for looks. The good ones join up with a gang or become bounty hunters or mercenaries, the bad ones become another statistic.

Lannisters objective ranking tier list
1. Daven Lannister
He’s the goat. Great bro energy and is just an unproblematic chiller, I would run Fortnite duos with him any day
2. Kevan Lannister
Is he complicit in some war crimes? Maybe. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Kevan is a pretty good dude who does his duty to his house and cares about his useless son and even Tommen despite knowing he is an incest bastard. He even took Pod in and made him Tyrion’s squire, didn’t have to do all that for some random low nobility kid. Doesn’t take shit but gets shit done.
3. Gerion Lannister
He’s not even in the books but idc. Bro had balls of steel to go to Valyria, seems like a very cool guy overall and I think he was Tyrion’s favorite so he must have been a pretty fun dude too.
4. Genna Lannister
Dunks on her dumbass Frey husband all the time and let’s Tywin know the facts, ultimate aunt vibes.
5. Jaime Lannister
Jaime is the funniest character in the series, he gets the best dialogue and is a consistently fun character to read. Yeah he did some bad things maybe but I think i can understand why he gives zero fucks about anything, he was just built different
6. Lancel Lannister
He didn’t really do anything wrong but he’s so annoying and I kind of despise the religious zealot archetype
7. Tyrek Lannister
Not much to say about him he doesn’t do much at all but I gues s he is a horse or some thing
8. Cersei Lannister
Yeah she’s kind of insane but her stupidity is really funny and if I was her I would also hate everyone, she did get dealt a shit hand by life
9. Tywin Lannister
He is such a dick all the time but he is intelligent and there’s a reason he is respected, good administrator and politician but not a great parent. That said he carried house Lannister for like 60 years and had a sick armor set
10. Tyrion Lannister
I love to hate Tyrion but in the end I also have no sympathy for him because he is a fucking piece of shit all the time. The Imp is a well earned name. If he was a generally more amiable fellow and less of a bitch to everyone around him his life would be way less difficult than he makes it.

I think you can only truly appreciate an idealized fantasy world if you have a personal reference point from your own life. Would I be so enthralled with Tolkien’s forests of Lorien or Doriath if I hadnt grown up spending every day exploring the woods of Washington state? Would the beaches of Anfalas hold the same bittersweet value for me if I hadn’t lived by a beach as a child? Would the heights of the Frostfangs be so vivid if I didn’t spend each winter snowboarding in my own mountains? I think we need to build imagination on lived experiences and that’s why using books as escapism is bad. Stories should resonate with lived experience, not substitute that experience itself.
