Hey windwakerJJ followers!  Sorry for the lack of updates the last little while, I’ve been in the thick of it with the Link to the Past Randomizer. I’ve been working on a piece for Destructoid on the Randomizer, and now it’s out! It’d be really cool if you check it out!  (and your regular BotW content will resume shortly! I swear!)

Oh! One More Thought on the Silent Princess.

Seems like people have already dug deep to find the symbolism in the flower that is at the core of this story, so maybe this has already been talked about...

I mean... the name should be the giveaway. This flower is obvs symbolic of Zelda herself. But what got me thinking a bit more about it was what Zelda just said in the flashback... Despite their best efforts, the Silent Princess cannot be grown domestically. Think about Zelda’s own journey so far (at least the flashbacks I’ve seen), she’s been trying to lead the charge against Ganon based on all the supposed “knowledge” of experts and there being a “right way” to become the hero Hyrule needs. Nothing is working like it should. Becoming a hero in this unnatural, textbook fashion is proving fruitless, much like the efforts to grow the Silent Princess, no amount of “Science” can make it work. Zelda must blossom in the WILD, only then will she realize her true potential.

Silent Princess: undomesticated.

This flower is so special, it only grows in the wild. Try as they might, no one can get the conditions right to grow them domestically.  (also, this gif is jank, lol.)

Also, if I’m trying to place this one in the ‘memories timeline’ seems like this is one of the last memories chronologically... Zelda’s looking a little worse for wear (what with the disheveled clothing), and it seems that Link isn’t in the picture anymore... perhaps I’ve already been put into my cryo-sleep in the Shrine of Resurrection? In this flashback, we see that monster activity is on the rise. Link is doing a good job of fending off the encroaching hordes, but it’s becoming quite a lot of work...
