U.A. High School Field Trip Around Japan: Day 5 Translations

This is Day 5 of Shonen Jump’s special commemoration of My Hero Academia reaching one hundred million copies worldwide, which is being rolled out daily across one-week in each prefecture’s newspaper.

Chūgoku Region

Hakuto Coast is a magnificent beach beside a shrine famous for being the location of the so-called "first love story" wherein the white rabbit (the shrine's namesake, 白兎) played matchmaker for deity Ōkuninushi and princess Yagami after Ōkuninushi advised the rabbit on how to heal its wounds. The shrine specializes in matchmaking charms and the area is considered a "lovers' sanctuary."

Shimane

Shouji: "What an incredible slope!" Iida: "Aah, this will be hard, but at the top of that slope a spectacular view of the ocean and a sense of accomplishment await you... Give it your all, Engine!! You can do this!" Kaminari: "You're empathizing with the engines!?"

Eshima Ohashi is famous for being photographed in ways that distort its true slope gradient, making it appear insanely steep. It's steep, but not insanely so! I guess Iida identifies with engines.

Okayama

Kojima Jeans Street is a popular tourist destination in Kurashiki City, as it has been dubbed the birthplace of blue jeans in Japan from its first production in the 1960s. Kacchan is in denial--accept your fate and wrap yourself in the weft of rich indigo!!

Hiroshima

Kaminari: "Hey! Just a minute ago it was on land, now it's under water!?" Bakugou: "It's just high tide, ain't it!!" Sero: "Ohh, right, the whole thing with the moon's gravity. So, it sinks once every day?" Bakugou: "High tide comes twice a day, don't it!! Go back to kindergarten and start over, you pieces of trash!!"

Visiting Itsukushima Shrine, whose torii entrance appears to be floating in the water at high tide and is made out of decay-resistant camphor wood. The shrine buildings themselves are built up so as to not be submerged.

Yamaguchi

Todoroki: "This is from my father. Please enjoy at your leisure." Kirishima: "'Ssanks for tha' provisions!!" Uraraka: "Todoroki-kun, you know, you should say thanks!" Todoroki: "It's delicious, thank you." Uraraka: "I meant thank your dad!"

They are eating kawara soba, a unique dish in Yamaguchi which is cooked on a hot curved roof tile.

Shikoku Region

Tokushima

Kaminari: "Wheeeey..." Sero: "I'd rather be a dancing idiot than a wheeey idiot!" Crowd: "Both are idiots, so why, oh why, not dance~!" Ashido: "Let's go, everyone!! We're all part of this!"

Tokushima's Obon festival includes the Awa dance, wherein huge crowds of people dance in procession over a period of three days. Here's an example! They also often sing a song, dating back to a popular tune from the Edo period, which says both dancers and watchers are idiots, so if you don't dance, it's your loss!

Kagawa

Uraraka: "It's anybody who's seen it, right? They won't have money problems for the rest of their life!" Izuku: "That's a crazy face, Uraraka-san!!?"

The Zenigata Sunae in Kan'onji City is a sand sculpture depicting an old Japanese coin, called kan'ei tsūhō. It was originally constructed in 1633 by the local people to welcome a daimyō. According to legend, anyone who sees the coin will live a long and happy life and never have problems with money.

Ehime

This is JR Shimonada Station, an unstaffed train station along the coast which offers beautiful views of the ocean. Kirishima is a sweetiepie, and apparently easily flustered, hehe.

Kōchi

Ryūga Cave of Kami City is one of the biggest limestone caves in all of Japan; formed over a period of 175 million years, ancient artifacts from the Yayoi period (~300 BCE to 300 CE) have been found within it. Sero, how could you be so cavalier! Dark Shadow is a good boy!!

Drew Starkey x fem!reader

Summary: Drew is a budding photographer and it just so happens his favourite subject is his girlfriend 📸

A/N: Inspired by this photo - this was @starkeyobx’s idea so I hope I did it justice! It was meant to be cute but it ended up a bit smutty...

Your boyfriend had one big obsession - well two big obsessions - you, his girlfriend, and photography. And it just so happened both of them went hand in hand.

Drew loved to take pictures - of things, of landscapes and of people. But his favourite subject was snapping photographs of you. The two of you had been dating for several months now and and it had been going great. He had a weekend off work and the two of you decided to head to Miami for the weekend for some time in the city and a break from Charleston. Sure, Charleston was great - but it was nice to explore somewhere new.

“You look beautiful in that bikini,” Drew said, his eyes flicking down over your body and the way the little material hugged all your curves. There was so much of your skin exposed, but enough covered for him to continue undressing you with his eyes. The two of you were walking on the beach; Drew following slightly behind you with his camera around his neck and it resting on his toned - and bare - stomach.

Every now and again, he would lift his camera up and snap a few pictures of you, getting all the best angles and showing off your incredible figure.

“Hey, turn this way for me baby,” he said, you doing as he asked and smiling at the camera. He stood there for a moment, snapping a couple of photos and dropping the camera around his neck. You took a moment to stand there looking at him as he looked at you. He walked towards you, his hand lifting up to stroke your cheek sweetly with his thumb.

“Oh you look so beautiful today,” he said, brushing his thumb against your delicate skin before kissing you sweetly on the lips. He pushed away a bit of your hair that had fallen over your face, tucking it behind your ear before he went in for another kiss.

The beach was beautiful, golden sands for miles and the super blue ocean hitting the horizon, but despite the stunning view, Drew could only look at you. He thought you looked so perfect, so peaceful - and all his. He threaded his fingers with yours, walking towards the edge of the beach with you so you two could get back to the hotel, Miami was hot.

You ran a little ahead as he snapped pictures of his favourite view (you walking in front of him and him snapping a few cute pictures of your ass). As you turned around, a smile formed on his lips as he felt your gaze on him. “Come here,” you said, waiting for him to catch up with you. As he did, he leaned in for a quick kiss, which you reciprocated, and then you reached forward and tapped the camera.

“Can I borrow it please?” you asked. He was usually precious with his camera, not letting anyone touch it. But of course, you were different. He handed it over, taking it off his neck, as you turned the lens on him and made him the subject of the photos. You walked backwards, snapping pics of him as he perfected his ‘resting bitch face’ - or ‘model pose’ as he called it. You nearly bumped into someone and laughed at yourself, and on hearing the laugh fall from your lips, he too started laughing. The genuine smile on his face was featured in the next five photos.

“God when you laugh,” you said, looking through the last few shots you’d taken on the digital camera. He was perfect. This was perfect. And he looked incredible. His body was so sculpted but not too much. His broad shoulders had you weak and biting your lip as you surveyed his body. You must have accidentally snapped a photo as the flash all of a sudden went off.

“Distracted?” he asked in a teasy tone, as he noticed the confused look on your face. You nodded, giggling at the photo you’d taken. It was of his crotch - and you swore it was a complete accident. You showed him, a little embarrassed, but you found the situation funny. He laughed too, smiling at you as he shook his head. “Horny today, are we?”

An hour later, and a long walk around Miami, with plenty more photos taken, you two headed back for some much needed air conditioning away from the heat. “I guess so,” you said, blushing at his words, “I mean, let’s just call it a home video.” He hopped off you, clearly eager and dragged his tripod in front of the bed, keen to get the best angle. He put his camera in place and switched on the record button, a grin forming on his face as he admired the view of you lying there on the hotel bed looking hot as fuck in his clothes.
