In the previous post I had included a panel where Bruce is referred to Dick as his "surrogate father, mentor, friend, and partner." These words could not be more different from each other and while they should not be used in conjunction with each other, they have never suited these two people more. In fact I don't there is any character pairing in any fandom that has the same dynamic that these two have. Dick and Bruce's relationship has a complicated depth to it that Bruce and the rest of his children don't have.

I think the most confusing thing is when Bruce constantly confuses Dick being a son and a partner.

First thing I want to start off with is that Dick and Bruce used to sleep in beds so close together it looks like one bed. In the 1950's this arrangement was known as the "twin beds" which were typically used for married couples. Children slept in a separate bedroom which begs the question why Dick and Bruce had a sleeping arrangement similar to that of marriage partners. This is the first weird thing about their relationship.

Not to mention, the romantic boat rides they used to take together. But was this normal then between father and son or is it just a romantic thing now, I don't know. As well as when they decided bronzing themselves naked next to each other. Not really sure what was going on there, if it was acceptable during that time or what but I do know that the reason that creators decided to send Dick to college in 1970 was because they wanted to beat the gay batman and robin allegations. It's weird as hell that they even came up with these ideas. Also the robin crossdressing. For justice, am I right?!

I feel these instances are important because it breaks any barriers they have between them. They're so (platonically for me) intimate that there's nothing but each other in their souls. One of the key reasons that their relationship is vague and intense and encompassing.

Dick is also considered Bruce's partner intellectually.

Instead of Dick listening to Bruce and following behind, as it's often shown in robin comics, they talk on equal terms. There's other moments of this shown too:

I think this is the reason why Bruce considers Dick a partner. He's not only exceedingly intelligent, but he even at a young age he's able to keep up with Bruce's thought process as an equal when even the justice league and other major adult heroes fail to do. Bruce's inventions are Dick's inventions because they played an equal role in creating them. This is why he's called the Prodigal Son.

Now onto him being a best friend and a son mix.

We know the classic example of Dick expecting to be Bruce's best man and Bruce thinking the same. But there are other moments that indicate that too.

But it isn't one sided because Dick also sees Bruce as his best friend:

Dick punching Bruce in the throat and single handedly carrying him like a sack of potatoes is just funny as hell.

Also including the fact that Dick and Bruce embody sleepover, besties behavior:

BUT HERE'S WHERE IT GETS JUICY.

Having your child act as your bestfriend is terrible for your child's mental health.

I'm speaking from personal experience but when your parent trauma dumps their life onto you at a young age, you mature emotionally much faster than you're supposed. You start becoming aware of people's thoughts and emotions at a deeper level and you start attuning yourself to others. In layman's terms: you change yourself to be able to meet your parent's high expectations and act as an emotional sponge for their anger, sorrow, disappointment, and frustration about their own life.

I'm not hesitant to admit that Dick's manipulation tactics most likely stem from this behavior. He knows what he wants and he will do anything to get it. This doesn't mean he's a bad person though. In fact I give him the highest level of respect of any character because all his intentions are good. He doesn't cheat, lie, or trick people into killing themself or harming others or bringing them down. He does it to make their lives better which is-I'm sorry, I don't have the proper words to express the multitudes of emotion I'm feeling for that.

(I nearly went into a massive monologue about how other people view his manipulation but that's for another post. )

This is also where things get complicated, and why we know Bruce and Dick as the way they are.

Dick has become so emotionally and mentally adept that he's able to pick up on others' thoughts and attitudes (Bruce specifically) before they even realize them. This is why Bruce is so dependent on Dick for everything. In one comic Garth says "Dick's a good listener."

I'm going to deviate for a minute here and include a panel that shows how this personality trait affects Dick's other roles:

Speaking more about Bruce's impact on Dick, there's this:

Aside from the huge ass painting on the wall of just the two of them-the panel is another perfect example of the complicated depth to them. They see each other as equals and when something interferes with that perception, then they start having problems. It haunts Bruce that the 8yr old he took in is equally matched to him in skill and ability but he also recognizes that Dick is too young to be able to do so. He should not have to experience the pain and responsibility of an adult but Bruce can't just get rid of him because Dick is the only one capable of keeping up with him. His heart also breaks when Dick is away (he starts crying in a panel multiple panels as Dick is leaving). For Dick he's already far used to the roles and responsibilities that he doesn't consider his age a factor as to why Bruce refuses to let him do the same things. This is a source of miscommunication between them. Bruce knows Dick can succeed at anything given to him but feels he shouldn't have to deal with those things. And Dick doesn't understand the hesitance when he's proven to have accomplished those tasks and greater before.

To expand, Dick's relationship with Bruce reminds me of Slade's relationship with Billy Wintergreen when Deathstroke tells him "You've been with me through everything...but now I have to say goodbye when you're unconscious or else I can't do it." Or something along those lines, the vibes are the same.

Oh yes, and this scene too:

Which mimics a lot of the confusion other characters have over Dick and Bruce's relationship.

But the difference between Slade and Billy vs Dick and Bruce is that Dick and Bruce's relationship is blurred on ALL fronts. There's not a single moment where Bruce has viewed Dick strictly as a son.

This leads me into the mentor aspect.

Note: while Dick knows Bruce the best, Bruce also knows Dick the best of all his children. There's a certainty to the way he speaks about Dick's abilities that he lacks when discussing his other sons'. That doesn't mean he doesn't know what they can do-he well aware and knowledgeable-it just means that his relationship with and understanding of Dick far exceeds what he has with the others.

But few people know what comes next-

From the dawn of Batman and Robin comics, Batman has been obsessed with controlling Dick. I don't understand why he doesn't use his manipulative tactics on anyone else. There's a comic panel where Dick tells Barbara, "...you and Bruce don't need to manipulate me into doing what you guys want." It was always his way or the highway with him and Bruce reflects on this again in Batman and Robin Eternal. Dick also tells Bruce he's being pig-headed during the 1966 comic version of the Warner Brother's film and when Bruce asks him "Am I really pig-headed?" Alfred goes "hell yeah." Essentially.

Ofcourse Bruce seems him as a son too:

Also in the linked previous post there's the panel of Bruce begging the judge not to take away his son from him. "Dick is like my own son!I've even changed my will so that incase of my death, Dick will get my entire fortune! You honor, I...I love that boy! Please don't take him from me!"

We already know many references about Dick being labelled Dick's son so I'll leave this aside for now.

Now here's the main point- the way Bruce and Dick interact with each other has so much history they're unable to explain themselves to others or each other. There's so many complex emotions between the two of them that sometimes even they're confused.

But seriously. What is your obsession with Dick, Bruce?

Lemme explain.

As everyone knows Dick and Clark are best friends. They are so close to the point where Bruce actually sweeps the stuff off his desk in the batcave and says "LET ME JUST GET RID OF ALL OUR TROPHIES. I'LL JUST MAKE ROOM FOR THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN AND ROBIN INSTEAD!"

WTFFFFF BRUCE. WHY ARE YOU GETTING JEALOUS OF YOUR 15YR OLD'S FRIENDSHIP?

Oh, yes, what trophies am I talking about? Trophies of their battles together of course!

Which means the batcave is memorabilia of their time together. You know what that also means? It means that Bruce sulks in the Batcave because in the cave, he can literally surround himself with the time he spent with Dick.

Bruce is so abnormal about Dick. He sees Dick as an all in one. Every single relationship category you can think of, Bruce has bundled it up and put it into Dick. If all their various relationships became a physical string, Bruce would have a leash on Dick that resembles a thick, corded rope. So if you cut one thread of, say, friendship, the rope won't tear become the other threads of partnership, family, and other ambiguous threads would still hold them together.

Bruce has a leash on Dick but something Dick doesn't know and Bruce won't admit is that Dick has a leash on him too.

HERE'S THE INSECURITY WITH DICK AGAIN. THE MAN THINKS THE WORLD OF DICK BUT HE'S HORRIFIED AT THE THOUGHT, AT THE POSSIBILITY, THAT DICK DOESN'T FEEL THE SAME OF HIM.

He's constantly seeking reassurance of his place with Dick through the only way he knows how-manipulation. While Bruce consistently distances himself from his son, he's doing it on purpose so Dick will come running back to him. I mean-isn't that what he did with Jason? Expelling Dick in fury and fear and not telling Dick about taking in a new robin?

In the comic Dick drops by and tells him "I found out through a newspaper and since I haven't been robin..." to which Bruce responds horrified and guilty. He knows what he's doing. He just doesn't want to get caught as to why.

Others have picked on this obsession he has with Dick too:

Someone clearly knew the importance of Nightwing to Batman. They knew what his death would do to him. And in response Bruce went out of his way-to a foreign land-just to take revenge on the man who almost took “his boy” away from him. Leaving with a parting promise, an oath, to hunt down the other one and leave him crippled for life too. Did Batman know KG Beast would survive or did he just leave it up to fate?

In the previous panel, apart from KG Beast calling Dick "your boy" to Batman, it's only implied though. So how do we know if Dick really does have that much weight to Bruce? Well not only is it confirmed, it is engraved in stone:

And when the blast nearly kills Dick, Bruce nearly kills the man who did it. WITH A GUN.

Also him trying to strangle Lex Luthor to death before Lex chokes out in between stolen gasps that Dick's not actually dead but he will be if Bruce continues.

Did you know that the dead Robin in the Superman vs Batman movie was confirmed to be Dick? Yeah. That says a lot right there.

Brothers

I'm not going to get into their brother relationship because that involves how Alfred treats Dick as a son rather than a grandson and is opening a whole new mansion of stuff so I'm going to wrap this up here and say the two of them are a LOT.

Bruce and Dick's relationship is impossible to define and that's why they keep ending up fighting. Their relationship doesn't have clear boundaries and since each type of relationship (brotherhood, father/son, partnership, friendship, colleagues, idols&pedestals) has it's own unique problems, and because the two of them alone are all those things, they have all the problems of each of these categories combined. But they also have all the benefits. Inseparably entwined these two.

A man exploited a woman, then he beats her before murdering her by shooting her NINE times and now he’s claiming to be a woman.

A gay man who admitted to murdering the surrogate mother he hired to have his children has told the court he identifies as a woman in what some are calling a bid to avoid a potentially lengthy sentence for femicide.

Fernando Alves Ferreira was detained in February of 2022 after admitting to the murder of Eduarda Santos, a surrogate he had hired who was living with him in the Argentinian city of Bariloche. Santos’ body was found by a tourist on the Circuito Chico Trail with 9 gunshot wounds. A later forensic examination revealed that Santos’ corpse also had injuries consistent with having been beaten prior to her death.

Two days after the killing, Ferreira turned himself into police. He repeatedly admitted to the crime while in custody, stating repeatedly “I did it. I killed her.” He was charged with femicide, premeditated murder, and use of a firearm owned without authorization, and expressed a desire in court to enter a guilty plea.

In Ferreira’s car, which was seized after he turned himself in, police found blood stains, leading them to theorize that a fight had broken out in the vehicle before Santos fled on foot. Ferreira then chased her down and shot her. Investigators noted that Ferreira had taken “every precaution to ensure the woman could not defend herself.” CCTV footage was also found of Ferreira disposing of his weapon.

The motivation for the crime is unclear, as Ferreira has refused to provide concrete details. Instead, he has vaguely accused Santos of being involved in illegal “gang” activity and suggested he was the victim in the situation. No evidence has been found to substantiate his claim.

The court heard that Ferreira and Santos were both originally from Brazil, and that Ferreira, along with his husband, had hired Santos to be a surrogate in 2020.

Santos would give birth to twins for Ferreira and his partner, who would pass away the next year. The woman had apparently been living with the couple due to having a lack of her own economic resources.

The chief prosecutor in the case characterized Santos as being particularly vulnerable, and described her as having been “at the mercy” of Ferreira. Just one month prior to her murder, Santos had given birth to another child.

“Eduarda was a foreign woman who lived in Bariloche … She lived in the defendant’s house, lacked her own resources, and was at the mercy of the owner of the house,” chief prosecutor Martín Lozada stated during a hearing. “It was a situation of remarkable asymmetry. Eduarda was a woman to whom the accused had rented her womb to have two children through surrogacy, and since the birth of the twins, she lived in the same house.”

Prosecutors also argued that Ferreira had exercised “economic and psychological violence” on Santos for years, and that Santos was without any family or friends in Argentina.

In response, Ferreira accused Santos of being the aggressor, saying “she was not submissive.”

Santos’ family in Brazil have previously spoken out against Ferreira’s claims of victimhood, slamming media for giving him sympathetic coverage.

“My sister is the victim, not him,” Santos’ brother told Brazilian outlet O Dia last year. At the time, the family appeared to have been unaware of Santos’ situation in Argentina, believing she had gainful employment in the country. Santos’ family has been fighting for custody of the children she had as a surrogate for Ferreira in order to repatriate them to Brazil. Ferreira has demanded the children not be returned to Brazil.

It was the dynamic between Ferreira and Santos which led to prosecutors pursuing a conviction for femicide, which is defined as a gender-specific crime introduced in 2012 to address the nation’s epidemic of sex-based violence. According to the United Nations, one woman is murdered every 32 hours in Argentina. The femicide provision was defined broadly as “a crime against a woman when the act is perpetrated by a man and gender violence is mediated.”

But now, Ferreira’s lawyers are seeking to have the femicide charge withdrawn, arguing that their client no longer identifies as a man. This past week during a hearing, Ferreira’s lawyers stated that his name was now “Amanda,” and that he was going through the relevant legal procedures to have his self-declared gender identity recognized.

The prosecutors have reportedly pushed back against Ferreira’s request to be treated as a woman, but the case is still underway.

Of the charges Ferreira faced, the femicide claim carried the longest potential sentence of life imprisonment. If withdrawn, and if the other legal strategies stated by the defense are successful, Ferreira could spend as little as 10 years in prison for slaughtering Santos.

This is not the first time gender identity has interfered with a femicide-related crime in Argentina.

As previously reported by Reduxx, the brutal murder of a prostituted woman in Buenos Aires was initially recorded as a femicide until media learned that the two men involved in the killing identified as transgender.

Brenda Córdoba, 28, was murdered on November 10 of 2021 in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Balvanera. Grisly surveillance camera footage released by police during the investigation into her death showed Córdoba being approached by what appeared to be a man in a white hoodie and face mask. The man circled around to her back before grabbing her in a headlock and stabbing her multiple times in the chest.

Córdoba, who was dropped into a puddle of her own blood, was initially found alive by passersby who had attempted to intervene in the stabbing and rushed to hospital. She died as a result of her injuries days later.

Her killers were apprehended by police after an appeal to the community with CCTV footage of the murder. While media initially reported the crime as having been a femicide, the term was quickly scrubbed from reporting after the gender identities of Córdoba’s killers were established.

That was it. Minho couldn’t stop observing any longer. The sexual frustration of not fucking her for the last three months and watching this stranger trying to get to know her was overflowing.

Y/n turned around to apologize but the younger man had already ran away with his tail between his legs. She was furious now. And that fury was coming out in the form of tears due to the wacky hormones, “Lee Minho. I don’t know what overcame you just now. But that was completely inappropriate.”

He rolled his eyes at your comment on the matter, trying to decide if it’s best to backtrack or say what’s on his mind. “You are with us technically. I will be damned if you are alone with a stranger while our babies are inside.”

“I was going to reject him myself. I’m here for you guys. You two are enough for me.”

The surprise was evident on Minhos face. Maybe he did overreact. Han spoke up, “You have every right to be upset. I’m so sorry he spoke over you like that. Let’s just go home, yeah?”

You agreed with him since you were unable to get a hold of your emotions. Han took your hand in his own and allowed Minho to follow behind them. They both needed a second to recover from his theatrics.

Realistically, if he wants children he has to leave jungkook and live with a woman/alone. If Korea suspects he has adopted a child and is raising him with a man, the child most likely will be taken away. This is not Disneyland, grow up.

Opinions are like noses. Everyone has them.

Uhm, No. Compulsory hetersexuality is not his only way out in spite of the institutionalized oppression against queer individuals, inspite of the challenges queer Individuals face due to their culture.

Believe it or not Queer families do exist in SK. Queer couples exist in SK. They have for many years and they will for years to come. The world may not have been made to accommodate us but we do exist against the odds.

What you are describing here is perpetuating heteronormative traditional family values, well modern non traditional families exist in South Korea too.

The fact that their culture stigmatize people with tattoos or gay people don't mean people have stopped getting tattoos or that gay people have ceased to exist altogether for fear of oppression.

One thing about queer individuals is, if a loophole exists we will find it. Not too long yall argued its impossible for Jikook to serve together because their laws does not allow gay men to serve together and here they are proving you all wrong

What you are describing is just one option, the easiest- or hardest option way out I'd say depending on how you look at it.

But then again, lying about your sexuality, marrying a woman to cover up his sexuality, lying to his wife and children about who he is, using another human being to avoid persecution while hiding and meeting up at Rendezvous joints to screw other men and satisfy his gay urges- is cowardly and in itself hell yet quite common.

Some queer men do do that. It's sad, unfortunate and cruel and never easy on them too but it does happen.

If he meets a girl he genuinely loves and falls in love with and wants to build a family with her I would genuinely support that for him. He's bisexual. He can do that. It won't erase his sexuality.

If he has to use another human being to avoid persecution..... I will support that too. A boy gotta do what a boy gotta do. Sorry not sorry.

If he wants to leave SK behind, live forever as a bachelor, a single father, if he wants to use surrogates, or adopt i will support that too- fortunately for him, he has a lot of fame and money and that puts him in a privileged position compared to the average queer man in SK.

Jimin has options. Some more challenging than the other. It's his choice to make, and as he turns 30 and the social pressure increases for him to settle down, I know he's gonna think about these choices and decisions he has to make and he will decide which way to go.

He might feel they are out of time and need to get real and get with the system. Or he can choose himself and his truth and find a way around it.

I will support him any way he swings but the fact that this is what Queer people have to deal with in this life is just sad.

Louis and Lestat:

In the original book Lestat literally turns a 5 year old little girl into a vampire to trap Louis in their loveless, abusive relationship, because he knows Louis will worry about Lestat (whom Louis now recognizes as a remorseless monster who sees humans as nothing but food) using this child (Claudia) as a tool and creating the most evil and messed up surrogate child of all time. (He was right, btw, bc she grows into a woman trapped forever in a child's body and hates them both for it. but this isn't about Claudia.)

In the TV series, Lestat is a white devil offering aid, sympathy, and love to a gay, closeted black man in the 1900s. He offers him company, capital, a friend who sees him as an 'equal' Once he turns him into a vampire, his desire to possess and control Louis becomes apparent. He displays TEXTBOOK narcissistic and abusive partner behaviors, apologies for how awful he was, promises to change, makes romantic gestures to try and smooth things over. They start having an 'open relationship' where Lestat loses it over Louis taking advantage of being able to see other people. Lestat writes a love song for him and sends Louis a recording sung by the woman he's having an affair with; Louis confronts him at the singer's apartment and they have angry sex in her bed.

Late in the TV series, they get in another fight, and Lestat literally drops Louis out of the sky and leaves him paralyzed, with Claudia (in this adaptation, a young woman who is more like a sister/mother to Louis) to nurse him back to health and re-teach him how to walk. Louis still takes him back.

In both the book and the TV series, Claudia convinces Louis that the only way they can be free is to kill Lestat. In both, they poison him, slit his throat, and dump his body in a swamp. In the TV version, Louis sobs over Lestat's dead body, refusing to allow Claudia to burn him and ensure he can't come back from it. (Spoilers: he gets better. and he's pissed about it! He follows them to Europe.)

Their gay divorce drama eventually results in the destruction of an entire enclave of over 400 vampires in Paris and the death of their surrogate daughter.

I wanted to keep this hidden until I could make a comic but lover, doesn't like women, and never has, and never will, lover is a man who loves men.

The story of him and his wife is a tale of a surrogate mother and blackmail, she was the mother of Luna because lover paied her to carry his child. She threatened to run off with Luna and the money if he didn't marry and love her.

considering this was the time of the culling of the lambs, he wanted his daughter close as possible. Lovers wife only wanted him for his ability of magic, Lover was then village guardian constantly using his magic to hide the village from the wolves of old faith. The wife wanted to be by lovers side because of how powerful he was. She was under the assumption that if she was his wife lover would fight tooth and nail to keep her safe.

Lover turned heel when she was caught in a snare. She was screaming for him knowing her fate. He wordlessly came to her, took his ring. and walked away leaving her.

He felt nothing but malice towards her. He was tired of hiding himself tired of playing along.

Surrogate Luna, Chapter 25

“I need an audience with alpha Barnes and his Luna.”

Nat gave Sam a wary look, and turned to her sister, who was shaking her head from her place at the other side of the doorway.

“Sam, I know that you are a friend, but-“

“Exactly, I’m a friend. So, let me in to talk to Bucky and Cinna,” he growled, projecting his aura outwards, “I received information about Steve from one of the people still in the pack who’s stayed on Sharon’s good side so that he could feed me updates on my actual alpha. And Cinna and Bucky need to hear it!”

“How about you tell us this, information, and if it seems worthwhile, we tell our alpha!” Yelena suggested.

The beta sneered, baring his teeth at the she-wolf, and Natasha stepped between the two, “calm yourself down, beta.”

“I have dire information about my alpha, an alpha that I know Cinna and Bucky are still in love with,” he hissed, “information that could save his life, should they take me up on it!”

“What do we care of an alpha that has no bearing on our pack?”

“You stupid she-wolf, let me through!”

The door opened behind the set of sisters and the older beta. Clint’s brow was raised, and he had one hand on the door handle, while the other was casually reachingfor his arrows, “it’s starting to get loud out here. What’s going on? Is everything okay?”

“Finally, someone that will listen to reason,” Sam grunted, throwing a glare at the sisters, before turning his attention to the sigma, “I’ve got friends still within the Rogers pack, and I’ve been informed that Sharon is going to make an attempt on Steve’s life. I need to speak to Alpha Barnes and Cinna.”

From within the room, Cinna looked to Bucky, who while trying to remain composed, had let a bitterness rise into his scent.

“Bucky…”

The young pup, who was once smiling, was trying to contain the anxiety in his scent as Steve tugged on his hand , “Bucky?”

His eyes snapped to that of his mate.

Steve, though only a year younger, was much smaller than himself. The ten-year-old was often mistaken for seven or eight, despite being a ten-year-old alpha. And while they were both alphas, they’d been caught kissing behind an oak tree where a delta warrior had been walking past.

Bucky proudly took the younger wolf’s hand, the eleven-year-old alpha glaring at the much older delta, “don’t speak in an ill manner about my mate, delta!”

“Bunch of queers,” he growled, glaring between the two pups, “your fathers should beat some sense into ya. Both alphas. Both boys. You’re disgusting!”

“I said don’t speak about my mate!” Bucky growled, projecting his aura outward as he sneered at the delta, his teeth baring. The delta twitched, and his eyes widened. He was surprised that the young pup was affecting him.

He stumbled back, falling into a kneeling position.

And while that would have satisfied most other wolves, Bucky and Steve could hear the delta continuing to discuss his disgust at the romantic entanglement between the two pups.

The scene was so uncommon that even amidst the summit going on about them, a crowd of other wolves had looked at them with interest.

“APOLOGIZE!” Bucky hissed at the man, continuing to project his aura.

The delta growled, the pain racking his body as he continued to submit to the child, “Fuck you, you faggy little mutt! Fuck you and your faggot mate! I’m not apologizing for shit!”

“I SAID APOLOGIZ-“

“BUCKY!”

Bucky stopped projecting his aura outwards as his own father, as well as Steve’s, came into view.

“Father…”

“What on earth is going on here?” Alpha Barnes growled.

“This is supposed to be a peace summit!” Alpha Rogers joined in.

Both Bucky and Steve looked away from one another. Bucky dropped his partner’s hand.

“WELL?” Alpha Barnes bellowed, turning his attention between Bucky, Steve, and the delta from his pack, “SPEAK!”

“My alpha…your son…he-“

“HE WHAT?”

“He’s a queer!” the delta spat, spitting at the ground in front of Bucky, “saw him and the other alpha boy kissing behind a tree. Fucking kissing!”

“He’s my mate!” Bucky said firmly, “Steve is my mate!”

Alpha Barnes and Rogers looked uncomfortable as they shifted their attention between their sons. The two alphas had always known that their sons were close, but they both always chose to ignore just how close Steve and Bucky were.

“Steve?”

“James?”

Bucky could feel the disappointment in his father’s voice. Just as he could feel it in Steve’s fathers. Neither one of them were an omega. And if they mated one another, that meant unless they took on a female, there would be no heirs for either pack.

His stomach turned.

While being gay wasn’t illegal in his or Steve’s packs, it was still frowned upon if you were a warrior, or a future alpha of the pack.

He knew that by proclaiming Steve to be his mate, he was going to deny any obligations to create an heir. Or at least, that’s how it would look to other wolves within both packs.

“I love him, father.” Bucky said firmly.

His father’s jaw twitched, and he looked at Steve, “and you, son?”

“I-Bucky is my mate, Alpha Barnes. I love him!”

“Disgusting!” the delta growled.

“It seems that someone would be challenging your mateship, young alpha!” Joe Rogers smirked, hoping to scare the young pups away from their love, “is that something that you two are willing to stand for?”

“Then let them!” Bucky replied firmly, “I will never stop loving Steve. He is my mate!”

“Alpha Barnes…” Joe Rogers smiled, “you know what a challenge to mateshp means…”

“Delta, are you challenging my son’s mateship to young alpha Steve Rogers?”

The delta gave a sickening smirk as he nodded, his nostrils flaring, “it’s unnatural is what it is. And I refuse to let my future alpha mate another man…it’s not right!”

“Delta…be smart with your words,” Bucky hissed, knowing where it was going, “if you challenge my mateship to alpha Steve, I will show no mercy.”

“And I will end you. There will never be a time where my future alpha is a fag!” he hissed, “royalty or not. I will not stand behind it.”

“Death trials!” the eleven-year-old proclaimed confidently as he once again took Steve’s hand in his own, “if you challenge my mateship, then I will challenge you to the death trials in accordance to the Barnes pack!”

“Your death warrant, kid!”

“Alpha…”

Bucky felt a phantom pain in his arm, and he whimpered, remembering the first time his relationship with Steve was questioned.

While he’d managed to beat a full-grown adult at a death trial, he’d lost his arm in the process.

And Steve had made it clear to him that he wasn’t going to let the alpha lose a part of himself every time someone questioned their relationship. He’d broken up with him shortly after, leaving Bucky angry over his love for the other alpha.

“Steve made his choice…” Bucky muttered sadly, “he made his choice years ago…”

“Alpha…”

Bucky frowned at the sadness in his luna’s voice, “Cinna…Steve-he-he’s not the same Steve I knew when we were pups. He’s not the same Steve that you’ve gotten to see. He’s under Sharon’s thumb. The only similarities are that he abandoned both of us when he got scared to stand up for his love.”

“He’s our mate, alpha…”

Bucky could feel the sadness filling the room and he closed his eyes, nodding to Clint, “let Sam in so that we can hear him out.”

He felt Cinna clutching onto his arm and he sighed, “Thank you, alpha…”

“I have not promised anything, Cinna…I’m merely hearing Sam out,” he pointed out, “you may not like the answer that passes from my lips just yet.”

The door opened further, and Sam was shown into it, a solemn look on his face as he bowed ever so slightly to the alpha and omega.

“You have asked for the presence of myself and my mate,” Bucky said in a low, firm tone, “What news do you have, Sam?”

“A spy from Sharon’s inner circle…she’s loyal to the Rogers pack,” he admitted with a frown, “I was told that Sharon plans on killing Steve after his next rut. She’s drawing her power from him, but she’s going to remove her mark on him and kill him now that neither you or Cinna have come for him.”

Cinna gasped, and Bucky pulled her close.

“W-why would she kill him now?” she asked nervously, “he-he’s been with her for years. It’s been months since the summit and-“

“He’s outlived his use to her.” Sam pointed out, “she’s all but imprisoned anyone left loyal to Steve. The Rogers pack is all but wiped out and she’s claimed the lands for the Carter pack. And the news of your pregnancy has hit. She knows that you and Bucky have no more ties to Steve, and have chosen to move on with your lives without him. Part of her had been holding out hope that by keeping Steve around, she would weaken the two of you. She is tired of keeping him a POW when he has no use.”

“Bucky, we have to help him…”

Bucky’s jaw twitched but he said nothing.

“I wouldn’t tell you if I knew that either of you had moved on, alpha Barnes…”

“You may leave…” Bucky said firmly, looking to the door.

“Bucky, what are we going to-“

“Omega…we will discuss this later!” Bucky muttered, taking his leave of her, “I-I need to think…alone.”

Steve snarled at the woman before the door was wholly open. The rings of yellow turning amber around his eyes as he started to go feral.

“Oh, come on now, Steve,” she smiled as she sauntered into the room and closed the door behind her, “don’t be like that.”

He growled, refusing to speak to her. She took another step into the room, and he tried to lunge at her, but was caught by the chains around his neck.

His back hit the ground with a heavy thud, and he was immediately coughing. Rolling to his side he groaned.

“There’s no point in trying to fight me,” she reminded him, “I have all the power here, Steve…”

“Go to hell!” he spat, attempting to fight away the baser instincts while he shook, “GO AWAY!”

“Aww, but Steve, I came bearing a present!” she smiled. She knocked on the door and it opened. An omega from his pack was tossed in. She fell to the floor and Steve’s head snapped up.

“NO!”

“She’s here for you to use, Steve!” Sharon smirked, “might as well use her. I mean, you’ve been in a rut now for nearly a week…and we both know the longer you hold out the worse it will be.”

“Alpha!” she whimpered, looking up at him.

Steve’s heart broke.

He had made a promise, sealing the traditional oath when he had become the alpha of the Rogers pack, that he would protect his own. But here a young omega was, roughly nineteen or twenty. He could spot the marred chemical burns from Sharon’s people undoubtedly removing the mating mark on her neck.

He’d vaguely recalled who she was, knowing that her mate was among one of the first warriors of his that Sharon had killed.

She was dirty and looked exhausted.

Broken even.

“Just kill me!” she begged him, “please kill me, alpha…I-I don’t want to live any longer…not under this she-wolf…her lieutenants-they-”

But she had stopped herself, sobbing against the dirty rags she wore.

“What did you do to her?” Steve roared angrily, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY PACK?”

“This one in particular?” Sharon smiled, before launching a kick to the omega. She whimpered and fell to her side, and Steve saw the bruising on her thighs as the rags she wore slid up her legs, “well, let’s just say she’s one of the girls that takes care of my warriors and thanks them for their service.”

“Alpha…”

Steve’s stomach turned.

“You’re a monster!”

Sharon cackled and kicked the omega again, pushing her closer to the nearly feral alpha, “come on, Steve…my boys say she knows how to take an alpha’s cock…cries a little at first, but I know when you get started, you won’t even notice…that hindbrain will take over and you’ll lose control, knotting the little bitch. And before you know it, you’ll be gutting her because she’s not your precious little CInna!”

“I WON’T HARM MY PACK!” Steve spat, his shakes becoming worse as he tried to fight off what Sharon was saying would happen. His hindbrain was coming alive, and he knew that it was only a matter of time as the tremors worked harder on his hands.

“You’re not as strong as you once were, Steve,” she laughed, pushing the omega into Steve’s area. He pushed himself back, away from her, and Sharon continued to kick her closer, until she was almost into Steve’s area herself, “take her, Steve. Fuck her and then kill her. DO IT!”

Steve looked down to the sobbing woman, feeling the wolf starting to come forward as his own willpower bent to her exposed aura. He closed his eyes, and looked away from the woman as he felt his claws coming out of his hand.

He screamed in anguish as he tore into the hardwood floors.

“I’m so sorry!” he sobbed, as his hand reached out, and screams filled the room.

Thinking about the Captain's name and Ben Willbond's possible inspiration for it, I looked into Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy which I've never read but know it's his favourite and hugely important to him from his interview on the 'Comfort Blanket' podcast. Based only on my very cursory exploration of Wikipedia, I think that the character of Jim Prideaux could possibly have inspired the Captain's name and some aspects of his character: Jim Prideaux - Wikipedia - described here as a man who served in WW2, he has ptsd, making it hard for him to adjust back to civilian life. He is implied to be gay. In his later career as schoolteacher he takes a child from a neglectful family under his wing as a mentor/surrogate father (like the Captain with Kitty?). I would be interested if anyone who is more familiar with the novel has noticed any other similarities? or if there is any evidence to the contrary?

- youngest of 3 biological brothers, 1 older stepbrother - his parents are divorced and he was never close with his bio mom as a kid jacob's father struggled financially being a single dad to 3 boys, but when he was 12, his father started dating a very kind woman who, along with her son mike, integrated seamlessly into their family

- has one older sister, non-biological - he's half white Australian and half Māori, but he was adopted by Italian parents who were also born and raised in Australia nick was raised extremely catholic. he's extremely close to his sister- she's the biological daughter of his adoptive parents- and she's always been someone he can rely on. they moved out together about a year pre-game and they're helping each other process leaving the catholic church

This might be a controversial take, but I think Luther tries to love Mac, but genuinely doesn’t know how.

From what we know he’s missed out on a lot of his sons life because he’s been in prison, and it’s put physical and emotional distance between them. Mac feels abandoned but maybe Luther feels abandoned too, even if he’s the one who essentially left his son without a father. Luther is shown to be very repressed emotionally, but when he is out of prison he does make the effort to build bridges with his son (and includes Charlie in that as well, likely only because he’s the friend of his son, which could’ve been so fascinating to explore in the show tbh) only to see his own actions end up putting him back in prison again—all because he couldn’t express the idea of making amends to others, or communicate his feelings or actions to Mac which ended up further driving them apart because Luther is so stuck in his own ways and Mac can’t trust him because because he doesn’t actually know him. Mac thinks his dad is a criminal. Luther was making positive steps forward, and ready to extend an olive branch to his only son, only for the rug to be pulled beneath him and discover that ‘oh, my son is afraid of me. He sees me as a criminal and believes I’m a bad person.’

It would be so hard not to hold onto that anger at both himself and towards Mac, who essentially just turned Luther’s attempts at redemption into a criminal act all because Luther himself wouldn’t let himself be vulnerable enough to be honest with his kid. Plus, to know your son is so scared of you that he would threaten to lie to keep you in prison? That he thinks you would take his life and the life of his friend—believes it with enough conviction he tries to stage his own death? That would feel so awful, knowing you’ve wronged your child this severely and that they in turn have tried to defend themselves from that pain by going on the offense and trying to hurt you first by sabotaging your chance at parole and at freedom? How do you come back from that from either of their perspectives?

But then we find out that Luther wrote to him, consistently, and we never know what he said because Dennis doesn’t tell him. All that pain and distance between two people and once again Luther is trying to bridge the gap and send out a chance for them to be redeemed to one another and have a father-son relationship. He might not say he loves Mac in those exact words, but it must mean something to keep writing to him even when he wasn’t getting anything in return. How long did he send letters only to never have anything returned? Did he think Mac didn’t get them? Did he think Mac got them but didn’t care? When did he give up on receiving a response and send his final letter?

And then we have Mac, who thinks his dad hates him. He can’t reach out because he feels responsible for putting him back behind bars. He is afraid that if he is his true self that his father won’t like what he sees. He doesn’t know if his dad hates him or if he ever thinks about him at all and all that time Luther had been doing what he could to close the rift between them.

We don’t know almost anything about the letters, and I wish we got some follow up to that. There is so much miscommunication and misunderstanding and pain between two men who should have been integral players in one another’s lives—and they are, but not how they should have been, you know? They’re both grieving for what they’ve lost. Mac lost a father, but Luther lost a son, too.

And then Mac shows up one day, out of the blue, and makes the public declaration that he’s gay. Luther didn’t have a moment to process that, or the privacy to do it, and basically he just sees his son show up after years without contact—with a surrogate father, no less, who has gotten to be privileged to seeing Luther’s son grow up and become a man and become His own person. And Luther didn’t get any of that. He’s the last to find out his son is gay, without any sort of warning, and he is expected to make some kind of declaration to that; to love his son anyways despite their tangled history and such a fractured relationship. Mac has come to tell him something important, because he is his father, but Luther hasn’t actually been his ‘dad’ for the majority of his life. He can’t repair ages of loss and absence in one sitting. So he walks away. He doesn’t say anything, but the action itself speaks loudly anyways.

Then there’s Luther’s own childhood, drug abuse/addiction, the criminal background that he’s always had and the hyper-masculinity that is probably all he’s ever known. The strength and stoicism required of his environment being met with the earnest and hopeful personality of his son. I’m sure there’s some envy there, too, to the freedom that Mac has with his feelings and emotions, even if we know that even Mac has such a limited outlet and willingness to acknowledge and express things. Plus the religious trauma and how that might effect both Mac and his dad.

I feel like Luther would see the worst of himself in Mac; whether that be in softness or in hardness. It’s hard to love a mirror of yourself, sometimes.

Idk if I explained my perspective clearly, but I think there is a lot of pain but also a lot of love between them both. They just don’t have the tools or the history required to understand each other and meet in the middle. They don’t know how to love themselves in their entirety, so they hate the versions of themselves that they see in each other. Idk I just think Luther is very repressed and even if he is a horrible father and a terrible man I really believe he is trying to learn how to love his son from a distance with the tools he has because being close to one another only leads to more hurt.

They’re so interesting to me. I want to much more content between the Mac family and a closer look at the dynamics of it all because there are so many ways to read everything we’ve seen between them.

Please tell me your perspective on this, I would love to hear whether you agree or disagree on my interpretation of them!

This is an interesting interpretation, and it's a much more generous one for Luther than I would think of. However, from what we see, I don't think this is true.

We know from "Mac Kills his Dad" that Luther was a distant parent even when he was around. Mac says Luther couldn't possibly have killed someone, since his "bad shoulder" meant he could never play catch with Mac and also couldn't possibly decapitate a guy with a stop sign. The tone with which Luther says "Riiiight" makes it clear that was a lie. Even when child Mac tried to connect with his dad in a hypermasculinity-approved way, Luther wouldn't engage. Catch is not an overtly emotional commitment. Plenty of emotionally repressed people can manage it.

Unfortunately, from Luther's later behavior, Mac is right to be afraid of him in "Mac and Charlie Die." Decapitating a guy with a stop sign takes a lot of rage coupled with some level of calculation. It's not a thing you can do on accident or a split-second impulse, like a gunshot. Also, in "Mac Finds His Pride" we learn that Luther cut out a guy's tongue for tattling on him. "Mac and Charlie Die" was Luther on a very good day. It could have so easily gone a different direction. There's maybe a case to be made for his time in prison contributing to the violent behavior, but since Mac was terrified from the get-go, I don't think the violence came out of nowhere.

We do know a little bit about the letters. Per Dennis, "He never once said he loved you," and, "He mostly just wanted you to send him pornographic magazines and put drugs in your butthole." This very much says that Luther just wants Mac to help him out, not build any sort of connection with him. I don't think Dennis is lying, because these are the same requests we've seen Luther make previously. It's a pattern.

By "Mac Finds His Pride," Luther has completely written his son off before we even get to the coming out scene. When he thinks Mac got someone pregnant, he says "There's hope for you yet. Not with your life, of course, but with the life of your son." He only values Mac for his potential to give him a grandson who might be better able to adhere to Luther's standards of behavior.

Luther waited until Mac was looking at him to walk out. He did so calmly and with an incredibly cold look on his face. That's not a man who got overwhelmed, panicked, and left. That's an awful, calculated "Fuck you." He didn't have to make a public sappy declaration. He just had to sit and watch. Mac is so starved for unconditional love that he would have been happy with Luther saying something as bland as, "Okay, son."

All of Luther's behavior, put together, screams "I love you, but only when you behave exactly the way I want you to." He wants a prop or a puppet, not a real son. Especially not a son like Mac, who has a lot of complicated feelings and needs.

And I'm sure you're right that Luther's own upbringing fucked him up. There's definitely trauma there, since apparently Grandpa McDonald effectively shunned Uncle Donald for being gay. Luther definitely learned that love is conditional from his own childhood. Luther's had sex with a man at least once, so there's a good chance there's internalized homophobia at work too.

Luther does love his son, but in a conditional way. And that's exactly what fucked Mac up so bad. Mac spent decades bending over backwards to be the son Luther wanted, and in the end it still wasn't enough.

The Greek authorities dismantled a network allegedly exploiting women as surrogate mothers and egg donors. The clinic involved says it only wants to "help people."

Since December last year, Greek police documented 182 incidents in which women were exploited as surrogate mothers or egg donors. Eight suspects were arrested on Tuesday morning, 8 August, in a nationwide operation that focused on a fertility clinic on the Greek island of Crete. According to the authorities, the suspects were guilty of human trafficking and exploitation. While four have been released on conditions, the other four remain detained for the time being.

The suspects held leadership positions at the clinic in question. According to the authorities, others actively recruited "vulnerable foreign women" to donate eggs and make their wombs available for surrogacy. In some cases, eggs were harvested first, after which the women became surrogate mothers. Thirty of them were found pregnant in squalid living conditions.

According to the police, the clients come from all over the world, including heterosexual couples, gay couples and single men. They would spend between 70,000 and 100,000 euros for a child. According to the authorities, the profit would be around 70 per cent of the amount. Greek daily Ta Nea reports that surrogate mothers received about 300 to 600 euros monthly. "We needed money", they argue, saying that they had not realized the seriousness of the situation and the dangers they were putting themselves in.

Birth

According to the local news website cretalive.gr, four Georgian surrogate mothers recently gave birth to children. They are now in the neonatal ward of a hospital in Chania. A fifth birth is expected shortly.

Wish parents, meanwhile, are panicking. News channel Alpha TV reports that several parents are trying to force DNA tests through the courts to see if any of the four children is theirs. Permission for a test has now been granted; another is expected later this week. Other foreign parents have already arrived in Crete to seek redress at the clinic.

Story

Meanwhile, the suspects stubbornly maintain that they only want to help people. The lawyer of the clinic's founder, a 73-year-old man, tells Ta Nea that his client is "convinced that the real story will come out soon. It will be different from what is circulating in the media now."

However, the Greek Health Ministry is not waiting for that investigation. Michalis Chrysochoidis, the health minister, fired the President of the National Authority for Assisted Reproduction. He oversees all assisted reproduction facilities in Greece and approves licences.

Trafficking

This is not the first time Greek authorities have tracked down a network using children as commodities for profit. For example, Ta Nea wrote about similar practices in 2019. According to Greekreporter.com, the Greek government has stepped up its efforts to combat human trafficking in the country in recent years.

Greece is one of the few countries that have regulated surrogacy. Altruistic deals are allowed if the surrogate mother does not receive more compensation than about 12,000 euros. Heterosexual couples and single women are eligible for this practice. Since 2014, it has also been possible for foreign couples to enter a route.

Kim Possible Villains and their Kids Headcanons

Aka Anna wants to talk about her KP OCs

A lot of the kiddos essentially grow up together. Showing up at villainy events all the time.

I’ve talked a little about my Drakgo baby, Laserbeam, but she also has a brother named Dynamite and a sister named Gunpowder. (Gunpowder is not mine though, they belong to a friend of mine).

Junior and Bonnie? Not endgame. That is a gay man. But he does task her with being the surrogate for Junior and his boyfriend’s daughter Señorita.

Despite Monkey Fist hating children with every bone in his body, he ends up adopting a child named Xiaojian. She is raised as his apprentice.

How is Monkey Fist no longer statue? Personally I go with another timeline messing with Time Monkey.

Xiaojian was born from the monkey Chippy, turned semi human by DNAmy.

On a Henchco outing when they were kids, Dynamite convinced Xiaojian to sneak into a monkey enclosure then proceeded to leave her there.

Xiaojian and Laserbeam dated for a short while. They are now bitter exes.

Because of how bad the breakup was, Señorita adopted a "no dating anyone with Jack Hench in their contacts" policy.

Somehow all the kids end up with Duff as the "favorite not uncle" (for Xiaojian "Nae yer daddy")

When Dynamite was starting their gender journey, they often could be found at Duff's hitting shots.

Xiaojian learnt Scottish Gaelic and she and Duff tease Monkey Fist often.

She really thinks Monty and Duff need to just get together already.

Señorita wanting to prove some other rich people she was better than them had Duff teach her to golf.

Señorita follows her Papi’s dream of being a big pop star.

In a world where multiple Disney medias exist in the same universe, Señorita grew up watching Ernesto De La Cruz movies with her Abuelo.

Along the same lines, Dynamite once broke up with someone because they said 4*Town was better than Oh Boyz.

Dynamite loves webcomics. Would 100% be that Homestuck fan.

Sharpies are on high watch in the household. If not to turn grey a la Homestuck, Dynamite would recreate Sharpie Bath to turn Blue.

Dynamite was born in Colorado. Laserbeam in California.

Dr Drakken got a vasectomy after Dynamite was born.

Estelle Lipsky? The kiddos call her different things. Laserbeam calls her GamGam, Dynamite calls her GramGram, Gunpowder calls her Bob.

Somehow, the Drakkens end up always celebrating big holidays with the Possible-Stoppables. It is never planned but space is usually made for the other party.

I see Dr D having Jewish heritage but being non-religious. The kids however had Christmas and Hannukah growing up.

Shego watched Dr Drakken insist on designing and making an Offbrand Barbie Dreamhouse (Baddie’s Dream Lair maybe?)

Laserbeam swears she is not superstitious. She comes from a family of brainiacs so there’s reasoning for that which might be dubbed peculiar. And she knows Aliens and Ghosts and weird shit exists. Doesn’t consider that superstition.

However, she isn’t aware of habits which make her seem she is. Like putting on a specific hoodie whenever an assignment is just not seeming right.

Laserbeam often keeps a slurry of meds and sensory things in her purse because you can’t do evil in bad health.

Laserbeam once performed a VERY heated rendition of Holding Out For A Hero that ended up with her grounded (so worth it though).

While I stand by the idea that Laserbeam and Dynamite are not in frequent contact with their maternal uncles, I like to imagine Mego pops in from time to time.

Laserbeam, Dynamite, and Gunpowder were homeschooled.

The Drakgo babies were named after the song Killer Queen.

Dynamite and Drakken can often be found in the lab late at night. They’ll get inspiration for a project randomly and then suddenly the entire lair is being woken up to dad rock™️.

Laserbeam’s full name is Laserbeam Olivia Drakken. When she has to go undercover she will use Olivia Lipsky.

Dynamite’s full name is Dynamite Andrew Drakken.

That is pretty unusual and it ended a bit abruptly. Yet also fits in fairly well with my world? And for some reason the idea of boys born from cum, spit, and sweat is oddly slightly hot, like someone literally made of blood, sweat, and tears? Pure male, pure Southern. 100% male. Imagine the child of Jensen Ackles and Tim Tebow, for instance! He’d be as thick and huge as a damn truck, have a voice as deep as a coal mine like Jensen, and super hungry for power and domination over Yankees.
