sun/moon demon and angel au!

sun is an angel who is usually sent to help struggling souls and lead them on a steady course to heaven

moon used to be an angel, but fell from heaven after being framed by [REDACTED] for a sin he didn’t commit

he’s trying to make his way out of hell so he can return, but he’s never been able to complete his assignments

in order to return to heaven, he has to get someone to trade places with him; he needs to convince someone who’s currently on a path towards heaven to sin and be sent to hell when they die, so moon can return to heaven

but he’s been very hesitant and usually doesn’t even try when he’s given his assignment

usually, he’s assigned to people who have never sinned or are extremely good people

but his latest assignment, you, is different. you’re very morally ambiguous, someone closer to heaven than hell but not new to sinning

and it’s an offer moon can’t pass up because it would be so easy to trade places with you

but the thing is, sun has also been assigned to helping you and keeping you on your path to heaven

unaware of each other’s assignments, they accept the offer and make to do their jobs

both sun and moon have limited access to the mortal realm. in order to become corporeal or visible to you (and only you), moon must convince you to commit a sin of any degree and sun must convince you to repent for a sin of any degree

they can each talk to you through your mind, but to you it seems more like a voice in your head rather than someone talking to you

and after they each convince you to sin and repent they are able to show themselves

and now you have an angel and a demon standing in your room with you

they’re representative of your id and superego, an angel and devil on each shoulder as you go through your life and trying to convince you to take actions down the path they want you going down. but who’s gonna win? :)

(extra: eclipse is in charge of giving angels/demons like sun and moon their assignments and knew exactly what he was doing here)

I’ve been calling this the DNAngel AU (no relations to the show, sorry ;;) but the overall gist is that April is an Angel that gets a lot of rep for being bad at her job (not true) but just wants to do good overall, and Donnie is a demon who has a bit of a rep causing angels to become fallen angels, tho he honestly doesn’t care about doing his job one way or the other.

Of course, shenanigans happen, and they occasionally team up ✨

And before you know it, they fall in love ~~

This is just an abridged version of the story of course, I have more lore and sketches planned out, but I’ve been sitting on the idea for so long that I wanted to get it out AKSHSJSJD

Or, the matchablossom angel and demons au. In this world, angels are guardians of humans tasked with bringing them peace- while demons exist to feed on humans by bringing them nightmares and feasting on their memories. What happens when a demon who remembers his past life is face to face with an angel who doesn't remember him?

While each angel and demon are born from human souls given new life, angels remove any previous memories, while Demons keep them. This is seen as a punishment to the demons and a blessing to the angels.

‘Angels’

Bringers of life and light, they live quietly and out of sight of any human, trying to bring peace to them and restore faith and hope in otherwise hard times. Unfeeling and aloof, they do their job and move on.

Able to access dreams, angels can see human aspirations for the future and can grant a single wish for their designated human.

The relationship between angels and humans- Each angel is assigned a human to care for. They are tasked with bringing them peace, or helping them cross over into the afterlife and join them as a fellow angel.

If an angel fails their job, the human soul can become a wanderer, which means they are no longer fit to exist in heaven. Wanderers will be preyed upon by corrupt demons who try to eat human souls, alive or otherwise.

Angels use long ranged weapons, mostly guns of various sizes and power levels to ensure demons stay out of their jobs and territory. They are trained that no demon is trustworthy, and to kill in sight. An angel's weak spot is the head, which is why they keep their distance.

The rule of “no angel should ever show mercy to a demon” is their code of conduct.

‘Demons’

Bringers of pain and darkness, demons live loudly and dangerously without any self-control when it comes to their usually insatiable hunger. They act on instinct and with heart rather than their heads.

Able to access memories and turn peaceful dreams to nightmares, demons tend to pray in human energy, draining them through horrid dreams that sucks the energy from them.

As demons can access human memory, they are very emotion-based. Feeling the pain, anger, love, sadness and joy of those memories as if their own.

When an angel is assigned a human that a demon is already feeding on, fights for territory can occur. Usually this results in either the death of the demon or angel, or being too injured to continue the fight and giving in to the other, but the latter has never been recorded to happen more than once.

Demons prefer alive and corrupted human souls stolen through energy and their tricks. Wanderers are little use to demons, and many see it as a cruel and unjust way to feed.

Demons use short ranged weapons such as knives, clubs, swords and axes. They are sturdy and can take a hit, usually several bullets to arms and legs. Their weak spot is the heart, which they defend.

Demons are not known to have a code of conduct, but many angels believe it to be “party until death do them in.”

In this world, Joe and Cherry were once the humans known as Kojiro and Kaoru. Reborn, Cherry was given his new name due to the pink of his hair, While Joe shortened his name from Kojiro, remembering his past.

The two were once lovers, but now they are reunited as long lost lovers, with Joe remembering Cherry and everything about him, Cherry only sees a lowly demon. All their past lives together not even a concept to him. That is until Joe calls him “Kaoru” for the first time...

Author's Note: This is not at all read over. Just stuck it quickly through grammarly. In case you don't know, I took off for exchange on September 29th so I haven't had time to write, let alone edit. So expect GerEng week from me to be a bit late.

The Tales of the Terrible Angel and Demon

“Luci, baby how are ya?”

It was too fucking early for this. “What do you want now asshole?”

“Now, is that any way to talk to the one who created you?’

“Fuck off.”

God sighed on the other end. “If you had a swear jar you may have been able to pay Ol’ Peter off and get back up here.”

“As if I’d want that,” Lucifer scoffed, “But that’s besides the point. What the fuck do you want?”

“Well… You see…I have this angel.”

“I’m not taking another one of your fucking angels.”

“I wasn’t going to propose that,” God grumbled. Oh, how Lucifer loved the sound even if he only got under his long-time enemy's skin just a little bit. “I was going to ask if you…I don’t know…possibly have a demon with somewhat of a moral compass.”

“What kind of shit demon has a moral compass?”

A knock at the door brought Lucifer’s attention away from whatever retort God had for him. “Give me a sec,” Lucifer said into the phone before putting it down. He could still hear God ranting and raving, but it was garbled. Lucifer returned his attention to his guest. “Come in.”

“Sorry to bother you, sir,” the demon who knocked said.

“How many times do I have to tell you to stop apologizing Ludwig?”

“So–” Ludwig caught himself and coughed awkwardly. “There is another…What do the humans call it? A Karen? Anyway, there is a very angry lady requesting to speak to you and she won’t take no for an answer.”

Lucifer groaned. This had to be the hundredth one this week. “I’ll be there in a minute.”

Ludwig nodded and with a bow, he returned to his desk. Lucifer had a choice. Hang up on the annoying bastard who sent him to this literal hell hole or face something scarier than anything the deepest fires of hell could conjure up. Hesitantly, he picked up the phone.

“Are you back? How dare you–”

“Just get to the fucking point. I have to deal with a witch and it’s best I don’t keep her waiting.”

“Okay…Are you sure? No one who at least follows some of the rules? I’m sure you’ve heard of Arthur–”

“Oh him. Chaos incarnate. Why isn’t he down here? He’s even worse than me.”

“You know we don’t do that anymore. Anyway, I had a different idea. I’ve been making this new human and they need an angel and a demon. I was hoping I could send Arthur down, but I need a voice of reason.”

“Looking for a voice of reason in Hell. What kind of places do you think–” Lucifer was interrupted by another knock.

“Sir–” Ludwig’s voice called, only to be overshadowed by garbled squawking.

“Actually…” Lucifer said, “I may have someone that would be perfect.”

Hell was where he wanted to be. Earth could be a fun place to visit. He and Alastair always loved sneaking down for some pub fare and good drinks. But this was not his goal when he had…disrupted…Jesus’s birthday meal.

This could be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps getting up to some shenanigans with his demon partner would be the final straw.

“Promise me you’ll behave,” Afonso sighed.

Afonso, Arthur’s best friend turned nag after he got a promotion to organizing angel assignments.

“No.”

“Arthur.”

“I thought it was a sin to lie,” Arthur taunted.

Afonso grimaced, “Fine…Just…Don’t hurt anyone.”

“Don’t worry. I would never go that far.” Arthur’s gaze shifted down below as they descended to Earth. “Dylan would have my head if I did.”

A small congregation of demons and angels stood around the maternity wing, some from the higher ranks overseeing the assignment of each human's angel and demon. Afonso led Arthur over to the mother of his human who was in mid-labour. He looked away, feeling out of place in what should have been a private moment. He looked around at his fellow angels and their demon counterparts, all unimpressed, as if they didn’t want to be there. He wondered which of the demons amongst the group was to be his partner.

Afonso took his shoulder and guided him over to where a demon, in a sharp suit of dark red, almost appearing black. His light blond hair shone even under the dull white lights of the hospital. But the most striking feature was the cold blue eyes that seemed to pierce right through you. It was both chilling, yet also thrilled Arthur deep down.

“Arthur this is Ludwig,” Afonso introduced, “Former secretary of Satan himself.”

“Came down here just for you,” the demon beside Ludwig added.

Wait…That couldn’t be…

“Oh look, the secretary is accompanied by Satan’s personal fuck pet,” Afonso snarked.

Francis, one of Arthur’s first friends (though they had always claimed they were enemies) and one of the last angels to ever fall.

The angel-turned-succubus gave a sly grin. “Aww are you still butt hurt about me getting Arthur’s first–”

Afonso’s wings flared. “Shut your mouth, demon.”

“Can we not bring my past flings into this,” Arthur growled, staring daggers into both Francis and Afonso.

Francis tisked. “Fine, fine. Because you’re so special to me. Now, Ludwig, this is Arthur. My ex and your new partner.”

“You slimy frog.”

“Aww…You still call me by my nickname.”

Afonso grabbed his arm when Arthur tried to lunge for his smirking ex. “It’s not worth it Arthur,” he whispered.

Ludwig, who had been rather quiet this whole exchange, finally stepped forward. He extended a hand to Arthur. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Arthur. I look forward to working with you.”

Arthur accepted the hand hesitantly. “Nice to meet you too I guess…”

“I’ll be honest, this is my first time on earth.”

Arthur smirked slightly. “Well…Trust me, I’ll make sure you have a great time.”

A few minutes later, Francis and Afonso took their leave, Afonso noting that human would be coming any minute. With his babysitter gone, Arthur leaned over.

“Want to get out of here and I can show you how humans have a good time?”

The demon’s eyes widened. “What?”

“What?”

“We can’t leave, our human will be here any minute.”

Arthur rolled his eyes. “Oh please. Everyone knows a baby human isn’t facing moral dilemmas, they barely understand words.”

“But it’s an important day. And the handbook says–”

“The demons have a handbook for this sort of thing?”

“Well technically it’s the angel’s handbook, but it feels like this is something we should witness.”

Any semblance of joy Arthur was hoping to get out of this arrangement drained out of him. Most angels weren’t even this uptight.

Their human gave out a piercing cry, their ‘hello’ to the world. Both the angel and demon stared at the wrinkly, slimy little thing. Ludwig grimaced.

“Is it too soon to say humans are disgusting?” Ludwig asked.

Arthur crossed his arms, unimpressed by the whole ordeal. “Trust me, it gets worse.”

“God…What have I gotten myself into.”

As Ludwig’s grimace faded into a look of awe as the now clean baby was handed to their mother and seemed to calm from the contact alone, Arthur was wondering the exact same thing: What had he gotten himself into?

I was told to post most of the angel and demon au sketches I had, but before I could do that, I decided I needed to drop a few more designs before that ajshsj

So, lemme intro to you, the supporting cast of the DNAngel AU, because I would never leave April and Donnie without friends in any AU I decide to make aksjs:

Cass, a power; always ready for a fight. She fights because she likes the thrill of battle and also for peace and stuff if there’s time.

Sunita, a principality, who always speaks up for April when she’s being crucified for wanting to help people. She’s super go with the flow unless you step on her toes aksjs.

Leo, also a principality. He’s kinda just here (I’m kidding). The only brother not cast out of heaven for the boys “lol sick trick” that they did almost a millennium ago and none of them remember quite what it was. Still visits his bros and are still cool with them, but hates that they can’t spend time together like they used to.

Kendra, a fallen Angel, who used to be an archangel before her unfortunate fall. Has history with Donnie and hates him for it. Targets him aggressively and takes all his wrongdoings personally. She won’t get her title back because she refuses to give up her grudge yet still blames Donnie.

Raph, as stated before, an angel turned demon. He's considered a knight in the hierarchy of demons and he absolutely hates it. Even with his demon status, he still wants to do good, but he's really good at being evil. So much so, they kept promoting him.

Mikey, as stated before, an angel turned demon. Despite his old reputation of golden boy when he was an angel, he’s regarded as a high duke in the hierarchy of demons. While he never doesn’t go out of his way to do large acts of tyranny or mischief, whenever he does, it’s because of some small petty reason he’s conflated, and that gives him a lot of brownie points down under.

And because I didn’t say in the other post, Donnie is considered a marquis. He doesn’t really do anything besides his assignments, but he does have a bad habit of causing other angels to become fallen as a hobby (for research), and so he has quite the reputation.
