as the fhjy premiere is upon us, i'm back with another edition of thisisnotthenerd's d20 stats. it's just the updates that are relevant, since relationship tracking is taking so long to do and i got sidetracked by polls for a few months. this will be sorted by the categories i have data for--you can look at the spreadsheet to find data for all d20 seasons. or you can read it on ao3. anyway:

runtime and episode data:

before the start of junior year, we have spent 88 hours, 40 minutes, and 14 seconds with the bad kids on-screen, including in oneshots. this is about 3 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes, and 14 seconds.

that's 41/221 d20 episodes, 22 of which were battle episodes.

we've spent 125 hours, 37 minutes, and 32 seconds in spyre as a whole, or 5 days, 5 hours, 37 minutes, and 32 seconds.

that's 57/221 d20 episodes, 32 of which were battle episodes.

cast appearances:

brennan at the top of the list, with 19 d20 appearances, 15 of those as a gm/dm.

next is lou, with 11 seasons as a player; 8 intrepid heroes seasons, 3 sidequests.

followed by ally, zac and siobhan, each with 2 different sidequests under their belts

second to last is emily, with 9, with acofaf

and in last is murph, with only 8. if aabria is in 2 of the 2024 d20 seasons, she's in the running to beat him.

seating preferences:

junior year tipped a lot of the intrepid heroes into a distinct preference, simply by setting them on one side of the table.

emily axford: strong left side preference (6/8), most commonly in L1 and L2. paired next to zac 5/8 seasons, and across from murph 5/8 seasons. fig sits in L1.

zac oyama: strong left side preference (6/8), most commonly in L2 and L1. paired next to emily 5/8 seasons, and across from ally 7/8 seasons. gorgug sits in L2.

siobhan thompson: weak left side preference (5/8), most commonly in L3 and R3. paired next to lou 7/8 seasons [doubled across 5/8], and across from emily 3/8 seasons. adaine sits in L3

given what the bts's have shown, there might be some changes to these that i'll update during the premiere, but as of now, this is a quick summary of the bad kids' data, including dnd race, class, level, highest stat, feats, and age. you can go through the thisisnotthenerd's d20 stats tag for my previous commentary on this data, or check out the spreadsheet.

i'm putting them at level 9 for now because that's what we left off with, but more than likely they're starting at level 10 or higher. we know about riz's respec, but there may be others that crop up during the season.

fig faeth: tiefling. lore bard 8, hexblade warlock 1. CHA. actor, lucky. 17-18

gorgug thistlespring: half-orc. berserker barbarian 8, artificer 1. STR. orcish aggression/fury. 18

adaine abernant: high elf. divination wizard 9. INT. spell sniper, war caster. 16-17

fabian seacaster: half-elf. battlemaster fighter 6, swords bard 3. DEX. sentinel. 18-19

kristen applebees: variant human. twilight cleric 9. WIS. human determination, inspiring leader. 17-18

riz gukgak: goblin. arcane trickster rogue 9. DEX. healer. 17

all of the bad kids have some magic now--the ladies are all full casters, while fabian is a split multiclass, gorgug is a 1/2 caster multiclass, and riz re-subclassed into a 1/3rd casting progression. still an even split of multiclasses and pure classes, though that may change. riz's re-spec has bumped arcane trickster up to the most common rogue subclass, with 6 arcane trickster characters, 4 of whom sit in R1.

The Bangtan Gal Masterlist

Author's Note: Hey! I wrote this story back in 2016 on some fanfic websites and am bringing it back as I edit the chapters. I wanted to put my perspective and imagination on what if BTS had a black girl in their group from America. This'll be a long story starting from their debut so enjoy the ride!

I have so many chapters already written. I had stopped in the story around late 2016 before the MAMA Awards. As I wrote this story over the years I wanted this character to be relatable and grow as a performer as well as go through hardships. It'll be a slow start but it will get better as the chapters go on, I hope you give it a chance.

This will mainly start with friendship. Not just the character and the love interest. I didn't want to rush things and I tried my best to add a lot of bonding and cute moments. This is a SLOW BURN with my OC and Jungkook. The two will not become a couple until 2016.

Synopsis: Divided into 3 teams to make different kinds of Kimchi

Production: Fairly straightforward, the guys are preparing various different kinds of kimchi. They have a guest teacher to answer questions. The coverage is pretty clean as well, but there's just something off about this episode's production that I can't grasp.

Endearment: Relatively benign, honestly. it's nice to see how the guys handle assigned tasks and teamwork. Each member has some funny comments, but I don't think there's honestly much to draw the audience in. I dont know, maybe I just watch too many cooking shows and this one just didn't really do it for me.

Winner: JH, JK

Loser: none

Best Cheater: Trust BTS to have a cheater in a food prep episode but I have to give this to Jimin for hiding some of his ingredients to reduce his workload!

RM: Honestly, are any of us surprised about RM cutting his glove? frankly, we should be impressed he didn't cut himself. lol

JN: I love it whenever Jin is impressed by a tool. The mandolin really shocked him.

YG: Yoongi's infamous 'it looks like it's taking too long' bit with the pot holder.

... and the answer is, well, you read and look and you tell me.

So @westcoastgal1 and @ffjj5 are very smart people and they got talking in some recent comments (thanks again skipping merrily anon!) about the July 28, 2021 BBC Live BTS performance episode. And also another interview which I will cover in Part 2 because I already know I'm running out of image space in this bitch. ANYWAY. The question at hand is: Does Jimin have a hickey in this performance? YOU TELL ME. So because we watch original content in this household for truth and context, I went and found the WHOLE ASS EPISODE and please enjoy it at your leisure and say thank you to the nice ARMY who loaded it for our edification and upliftyness and stuff.

After the Seoul interview, filmed months or a year earlier, and after the cool part with Son Sungdeuk, Dynamite starts at about 9:47ish and I just ... watched it. Respectfully looking at necks.

And you see the problem, right? It's the lighting. And the makeup. And the high ass collars. Like, there could be something there but those collars are throwing shadows all over the place and 7/7 Tannies look a little bit bruisey on the left because of it.

See? In-ear monitor mass plus wiring plus collar and lighting = if there WAS a hickey there we couldn't even tell. I thought I saw a thing on his neck at one point BUTNOPE HE MOVED.

IDK IDK, apparently we shall move right along. Next song, away we go: BUT WAIT. At 14:32 during the second interview, when Jimin is casually mentioning how he walked around London with his friends and a Jungkook

I honestly thought it was a shadow just there, above his SINGLE MOLE. I was momentarily flummoxed because Park Jimin does not have two moles in the same spot as evidenced by this:

And to be honest his regular mole looks, well... muted. Plus, if you look at the other shadows, they're less... purple. And to me, with a practiced stage makeup eye, it looks like some dermablend type stuff is working overtime. Sir. Button that shirt if you're gonna be out here like that, is all I'm saying, but I MIGHT BE DELUSIONAL RIGHT

OF COURSE I MIGHT WE NEED MORE EVIDENCE. Original content for what? TRUTH. And CONTEXT. So a little bit later we get to "I'll Be Missing You" and they singing and I'm just enjoying and kinda sideways looking and BAM 22:39

UH. THAT IS A FULL ON HICKEY. Here, I'll embiggen it for you.

It is what it is. That is not collarbone shadow. That is not lighting. That is not makeup, although you can clearly see the remnants of that failed dermablend-type-concealer the stylists or Jimin tried valiantly to maintain. And it does not escape me that every time the camera closed in on Jimin during this song, he raised his left hand to his in-ear in a very Jungkook "nothing to see over here" move.

Well all righty then, Jeon-Park gentlemen, don't get LOUD ON INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION OR ANYTHING. But wait. There's more! Because he don't need permission to dance but I am sure Jungkook routinely asks for consent, anyway:

They tried. The stylists really tried. They failed, but they tried. I think Jungkook is a whole Dyson of a man, probably took lessons from the Park half of the household, all I know is this looks like some "MOTS ON:E is coming out soon I need PAYBACK" Because this whole few seconds of the Jeon half flexing on that hickey is WORTH SEEING (thanks again to @westcoastgal and y'all take your asses to 26:35-42 and WATCH IT SEVEN TIMES FOR GOOD LUCK

Sorry for posting this late because this girl just graduated! Yes everyone now this is my full time job now /j. No but seriously this week had been a roller coaster and interesting. Certainly more interesting than our new entries here.

1. "Take Two" by BTS

Seems like BTS is out of their hiatus? Anyways what I found most interesting about this song isn't the song itself, but where it debuted. In both global charts this song debuted at #1 meanwhile on the Hot 100 proper, it only debuted at #48. I think the whole top ten of even the Global 200 that included US numbers suggested that maybe America isn't really trusted anymore for worldwide smash hits or that other countries showed up to have bigger impact that a lot of people realized.

32. "Who Told You" by J Hus ft. Drake

With the rise of afrobeat, I was wondering about what's the early proginator of the genre are cooking up and capitalizing on the success of afrobeat. Well we have a cool and chill afrobeat song from J Hus with a surprisingly decent Drake verse (thank god he didn't do any accent here).

74. "Polaris" by Saiko, Feid & Quevedo ft. Mora

Something is happening in latin music scene and I'm excited for it. This song is one of the reasons as to why because the mix between reggaeton and drum & bass is so seemless. I hope this gets big stateside because man we need more of these.

102. "Grain of Sand" by Lim Young Woong

You know how in Japan, pop and rnb ballads are still big with artists like Back Number and Yuuri scoring multiple hits? Well seems like we have a K-Pop ballad and I'm plesantly surprised at how well produced this song is. Lim has such a great voice and perfect for this guitar driven ballad. Even the whistle isn't bad here. Highly recommended.

103. "Tuya" by Rosalia

I don't know what to make of this song. On one hand it's nice to hear more Rosalia material and even after Motomami she can make some catchy reggaeton song. But just like LLYLM, the song itself felt hollow and kinda checked out? I don't know but this song felt less vibrant than most if not all the songs on Motomami. We'll see what happened next though because I do love the ending portion of the song.

175. "Let Me In" by EXO

I...have never been a fan of EXO. That's partially due to when they were popular I was falling out of love for K-Pop since most of its bigger bands like Super Junior and Shinee were doing conscriptions. I do think EXO was supposed to be THE boyband than would crossover into the USA before BTS did. But the mismanagement and just Kris Wu in general really doesn't helped. But hey they have a new singles out and this is definitely a more subdued RnB comeback that I actually kinda like.

194. "Padam Padam" by Kylie Minogue

I think we need more retrospective deep dive into Kylie Minogue career because she's lowkey still churning out hits after hits even though she's less popular than Madonna. This song is no exception like holy crap she can adapt to the deep house trend that we are in right now. This song does give me clear skin thank you very much queer ally Kylie Minogue.

195. "Lover" by Taylor Swift

One of my favorite moments of 2023 is Swifties memeing Cruel Summer into an actual singles even if Midnights still have its own singles run with Karma.

Synopsis: Continuation of the previous episode...and start of the next one so that the big event they prepared can actually be part of the 50th ep. This episode counts as two halves of two different two-parters...but the only content for the next episode that happens in this one is dividing teams so it doesn't really count for that evaluation imo

Production: The awards part is so awkward. It's clear the members weren't comfortable and it's obvious that each was going to end up with one but they have to pretend to not know for the bit to work. Somehow this edit is even worse than the previous one. they had to do so many of those replays of the same reaction from the guys. it's beyond repetitive. and the sound whilst the guys watch clips is atrocious. I understand why they did what they did but there were better options. i guess they figured this wouldn't be a highly rewatched episode so why bother?

Endearment: I realized I'm biased against the award episodes but honestly, the best part was hearing the guys talk about going to Lotte world as trainees and seeing their pic. the feels!

Anon ask 2: Have you seen today's Run episode BPP? God I miss them so much. I miss them badly. Their wholesome chaotic energy in this episode was so perfect. BTS even act like there is no age hierarchy among them, so I wonder if this is normal for people their age these days.

I combined your asks because I thought it's interesting how you're both curious about the age question.

Age hierarchy is a huge deal and the de facto in Korea, but at the same time everyone says the society should transition to a more meritocratic and equitable one, but of course that's not happening lol. So age hierarchy is evident. Practically everyone besides really intimate couples use honorifics of some kind. It's a hierarchy embedded in the language, because the only word for friend means an 'equal companion' in age, chingu. Sometimes the implied authority in age trumps everything else, in every setting.

In terms of age relations in Korea, BTS are kind of an anomaly.

This scene from 30:21 to 32:22 was peak hilarity for me but I also think it shows how they relate to each other.

But I said earlier BTS is something of an anomaly for a few reasons. Firstly, in BTS the age gaps aren't extreme - almost every member has an adjacent age partner. Yoongi and Jin are 29 years old, Hoseok is 28 and Namjoon 27, Jimin and Taehyung are both 26, and Jungkook is 24 years old. In Korea sometimes formalities are relaxed for people close to you in age, so the guys already have this going for them.

And then there's the fact that BTS seem to genuinely like each other. Consider how even when some members try to be stoic or strict, it's not long before they cave or are compelled to act in affection.

A third point is that their relationship has evolved. The ease that's present among them now wasn't always there, and they've gotten to this point by hard work.

I also think Namjoon working early on to establish a friendship with Jin helped stabilize their group dynamics. As Namjoon is the leader of the group and Jin the eldest hyung, them being in agreement on most things or at least, trusting and comfortable with each other would've been a good green flag for the other members. Namjin as a ship has a lot going for it. In my opinion.
