Yeah, I know many people have talked about this already but I need to say it as well before I explode.
I love visually seeing how the campers are all age accurately cast. In the books, it didn't hit me as hard because it was something I read when I myself was around 12. Even upon rereading I just go back to my 12-year-old body and the age is just this textual evidence that I KNOW exists but it doesn't truly impact me as much as it really should.
With this still, though, it's clearly visible how young all of them are. And it's scary. It's just the teaser trailer and it's already scary to think just how tiny and innocent they are, and how many hardships they have to go through at such a tender age.
But the scariest part about the scary part?
The youngest campers. That little girl (sorry for the bad quality) who's sitting right behind the girl with glasses looks around 7-8 at most. She's so small, so tiny, and yet she's at a camp where she has to learn how to survive and fight off monsters 100 times her size.
And the essence of all this is exactly what the movies failed to capture. The movies had a mostly adult cast, with zero ideas of what they were doing with the plot and characterization that could make the movies as impactful as the books, and focused a little too much on getting their Percabeth ship going, with absolutely no buildup of trust or slowly falling for each other or anything.
But with this show, I'm sure it'll be a lot more emotional and real because while it is sad that they're all just little kids, it's also a reflection of reality. Not every kid has a wonderful life; we all have to fight our own monsters no matter how young we may be, because life doesn't wait to see how old you are to throw problems at you. It doesn't have an age limit for trauma and hardships. The younger you are, the harder it impacts your life, and them being this small has a much more impactful meaning to it than watching almost adults go through the same problems that often get solved in an underwhelming manner.

For me part of it is that I've been playing since global launch, and rhine fam was part of what got me playing, and I've never seen anyone take the divorced jokes seriously even since then (in contrast to doc and kal, where like 80+% were taking it seriously for years)
you can only trust me for word because I don't want to call out anyone, but I have seen fanfictions or art pieces that seriously despicted them divorced (there's some on ao3). and if they're not divorced, they're at least exes. it's a very common headcanon, and I mean it. not saying people really believe it's canon, but at least, they want to imagine it is. as a heads up, it's not wrong, people think whatever they want! I was just bringing the point that it gave a less interesting side to her relationship to make them into bitter exes, imo. it makes it look like "Silence is mad at Saria because Saria betrayed her, and now she's acting really awful towards her, which Saria simply accepts". that's a simplification of their relationship. it's not necessarily wrong, but it's not the real message.
Silence doesn't hate Saria. she can't help being mad at her because she's mad at herself. when she looks at Saria, she sees someone who failed to protect them, and most than all, she realized that she was putting her hopes unti Saria. she's mad at herself because she is weak, because she was depending on anyone stronger than her to do the right things, and had expectations for them. she realized that Saria is just a person, so is everyone, and if she wants to achieve something, she has to do it herself.
as for Saria, she's not just accepting Silence's hate. she thinks that she deserves it, that she really failed. she's the shield If Rhine Lab, she promised that she would protect anyone, and she failed. because she pushed herself to carry this burden, because she unconsciously doesn't trust that the people she's protecting can protect themselves. Silence, Ifrit, they don't need Saria to fight for them. they need her to fight with them.
what really makes them really interesting to me is that it's when they finally open up and show their true selves, they realize that they can work together and that their flaws perfectly complete each other. Silence does not fall in love with Saria the director of Rhine Lab who is strong and hot and perfect looking, but with Saria who is a broken person who needs to love herself and be shown that she can be loved. Saria does not fall in love with Silence the weak and innocent girl who relies on her, but with Silence the woman who learned to fight for her ideals, and who saw the pain inflicted to those close to her, promising herself to never let it happen.
OK I WENT RANTY IN THERE BUT tl;dr in my personal opinion, bringing a romance in their time before Lone Trail doesn't change anything to her development, and it can be very well handled, I'm sure, but all the cases I have seen are just an excuse for spicy exes stuff "I loved you but you betrayed me" and turn their relationship into just "lovers who are still in love but misunderstanding happened", y'know

@reserved-fruit thank you for the link to this video with Kris' heart ring (goes perfectly with Keep Me Grounded, Keep Me Calm, just saying 👀 do you like friends (Bojan and Kris) comforting each other and jokingly proposing while still being deeply serious about how important their friendship is? Go read this!).
Here's some screenshots to look at with me, why? Because I'm a touchstarved bitch and scream and cry at any sighting of physical affection. Thank you Bojan for providing enrichment in my enclosure.
Also this one. Because I see a mention of friends spending time together because they love each other and love spending time together, I scream and screech in missing my friends noises.

For match ups I'll just say I think Tighnari, Diluc, Xiao and Dain would love you! (I love how Dain's your ideal match sksksks)
Sorry late reply I just wrote down some notes real quick. I'm trying to process this I feel red–
I definitely was not expecting Tighnari and Xiao but huh now that I think about it yeah maybe we could get along. (To those who reads OC!MC!: Okay, turns out it really was my fault that Alhaitham's taking Ls. I didn't know Tighnari and I were partners-in-crime, my bad–)
I'm unsure if you added Dainsleif just to indulge me but I'll gladly take it 😭. I love this man so much. I still can't accept the recent epiphany I have that maybe I am, in fact, obsessed with him the same way I obsess with my fave fictional character of all time. Idk how to explain it, but have you ever experienced going "No, no one can [character]. He's been with me for 3 years. They're the only one for me." and you're in denial that your loyalty is wavering? So uh, yeah–
Dainsleif still hasn't come home for 500 years idk what milk he bought out there but he better come home soon. Hoping that the 3.5 leaks are real (copium)
((Also Master Diluc Ragnvindr... Is this why your C2 came home instead of Nahida *pulls out a fork*– C'mon my friend! Let's have a chat! I'd bring in some grape juice if you want– sit down, comrade.)))

OK SINCE I SENT A DOUBLE BEFORE here's another!! um since you've mentioned sk recently hows abt your favourite order of no quarter member??
HMMM I don't have a specific favorite of the oonq so I am going to be resorting to semantics to twist this to a character I like (dark reize is like. he was Going to be made the last knight. it counts. it counts.)
anyway I love him so much and no one understands this 14 year old edgelord the way I do. not even the guy who he's technically just his oc. he's MY oc. (he actually is I took most of my interp of him and put it into a separate au and put That into an oc so if you're ever curious where nico comes from its him).
anyway (slaps this bad boy) he has so many identity debacles and also a shitty mom and so many fun possible interactions that. never happen. so I just threw that out and made my own au where he sticks around postgame (circumstances vary, he either splits off from nromal reize, is part of normal reize, or Doesn't get turned back and just stays Like This) and gets to sort out his issues starring: Lingering Memories From A Person You Don't Recognize As You, Finding A Purpose When The Thing You Were Conjured To Protect Is Gone And Said Conjurer slash Parent Is Effectively Dead, and also Just Generally Experiencing Emotions And Not Being Introspective Enough To Sort Them Out So Instead Just Being Really Angry That You Have Them And Causing Havoc. I like him
