“Get your fucking hands off me!” You screamed at the top of your lungs at the agents strapping you down to the medical bed.

You couldn’t remember much about how you got here. You were sitting on your sofa with a glass of wine before falling asleep and then you woke up in a white van.

You would give anything to be back in your small apartment right now.

“derzhi yeye na meste” you heard one of the agents shout out, you did everything you could but you couldn’t avoid the inevitable when you felt the large needle go into your neck.

The next thing you knew you were out.

Bucky was woken up to the sound of screaming and swearing coming from the medical room, he didn’t recognise the voice it must be new.

Many cryptic thoughts ran through his head for the next minutes before he was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of silence.

Silence was what distracted him now, there was always screaming but never silence.

A few minutes later he saw one of the female agents walking over to the cell that was opposite him with a girl in her arms, she was beautiful.

He watched her roughly throw you onto the creaky mattress and walk out locking the large bars behind her.

At least he wouldn’t be looking at an empty cell now.

“ty, vstavay pora trenirovat'sya” the colonel addressed you while the other soldiers were on the floor training “fuck off” you said spitefully glowering at the cruel man looking down at you.

A few minutes later you were escorted out of the room with a large cut across your arm.

Settling down in your cell later that night you were examining your poorly wrapped and treated arm feeling the tears flow down your face since the first time you got there.

You just wanted to be home, you wanted your family and your friends back.

The worst thing was you were beginning to understand the insults they would throw at you, not because anybody told you just because you would get them every spare moment of the day.

You didn’t know how much more you could take.

Scooting up against the peeling wall you pulled your bedsheets up to your chest trying to resemble on of your old soft toys only making you cry harder at the loss.

You were so lost in your sorrow that you didn’t see the strong man standing at the bars of your cell.

“soldat, ty v poryadke?” A mysterious voice called out only making you more frustrated “why doesn’t anyone speak English, I don’t know what your fucking saying!” You shouted through tears banging your head against the wall.

“I can speak English if you’d prefer it” the man said calmly in an accent that strongly resembled American but had gone under the influence of many years in this dreadful facility.

“I’m sorry for shouting” you whimpered thinking you were in for another punishment, you wanted one of your arms to not hurt at the end of the day.

“It’s alright” he said eyeing you warily, he hadn’t seen someone this vulnerable in many many years.

Your mind was completely broken at the reassurance you hadn’t heard in months and you entered your age regressed mindset unprovoked.

Desperately trying to stop yourself from shaking you looked up at the tall man who was talking to you “please help me I don’t wanna be here anymore” you sobbed.

The soldier didn’t know what was happening, but he was suddenly overwhelmed with the need to take care of you.

“Stay there” he said firmly before walking out to find the colonel. He was sitting at a waterlogged wooden desk working on paperwork, alone.

“Soldat?” He didn’t get a second word in before the soldier pinned him against the wall by his neck “otpusti devushku, ona budet bespolezna dlya vas” “kakaya u tebya oderzhimost' soldat” the colonel asked breathlessly as the metal hand tightened against his throat.

“ona moya” he said lowly eyeing the cowering man in front of him, after a few seconds he signaled to one the guards to open your cell door.

Hearing the patter of your feet he walked over to you and possessively put his arms around you “tvoy bezopasnyy malen'kiy golubka”

You were waiting in the cold cell waiting for Bucky to come back from a mission like you so often did except this time you were more vulnerable because you were feeling little.

You always missed the soldier when he was gone but it was extremely enhanced at the moment, you were going through a stage when you were little almost everyday and with him gone you felt very alone and scared.

You were pulled out of your thoughts by the loud sound of the iron bars of the cell were opened an agent roughly throwing the large man in.

“Be gentle” you shouted with a frown at the agent resulting in an eye roll before they locked the cell and walked away “I’m alright little soldier” he said protectively pulling you into his chest.

The two of you stood in silence for a few minutes before be placed you onto your uncomfortable cot bed that was pressed against his “I have something for you” he said reaching into his bulletproof vest.

He pulled out a slightly squashed soft toy out and fluffed it back up before giving it to you. It was a grey rabbit with soft but slightly shaggy fur and it had shiny black eyes.

You had gone so long without a soft toy you almost cried on the spot “thank you” you said brightly stroking the soft fur delicacy making the soldier smile out of the corner of his mouth.

You made him feel like he had a purpose like he was surviving for someone something he hadn’t felt in years.

Sitting up against the peeling wall he pulled you into his side stroking your hair gently as to not hurt you “go to sleep golubka, I’ve got you your safe”

Bucky picks at the thread of his sleeve, shifting in his seat of the car Tony bought for him and Steve to share, the leather seats are comfortable and familiar, though it does little to ease his nerves. The party he just fled from was awful.

It had started with a few passing comments about Bucky still being the winter soldier, then it changed to him and Steve, then to him being a little. Everything seemed to go downhill after that, Natasha was quick at jumping up to defend Bucky, yelling in the reporters face as Tony stood behind her doing the same. Thor and Bruce were busy trying to de-escalate things as Tony was starting to threaten pulling out one of his old suits of armor that can “do some real damage”.

Steve hadn’t said much during it, holding Bucky’s hand and whispering that nothing the mean people were saying is true. Then he told Bucky to wait in the car, saying he could take Nat with him if he needed but Bucky opted for going alone.

He’s still waiting for Steve to come outside. It’s been ten maybe fifteen minutes, Bucky’s starting to feel dread twist in his gut, maybe Steve isn’t coming? Maybe he’s in there agreeing with the reporters?

The door opening and closing in one sweep pulls Bucky from his thoughts, his eyes snap to see Steve sliding into the seat next to Bucky’s own. He’s a bit out of breath, part of Bucky gets nervous that maybe Steve’s having an asthma attack like he did when they were younger, but Steve takes in a big breath that seems to fix the problem.

“Sorry that took so long baby, we can go home now.” Barnes nods, turning away from Steve so he can’t see the tears welling in his eyes. His heart aches with the thought of Steve being on the reporters side of things, his headspace is making it harder to hold in the emotions he’d usually shove deep down to only ever touch late at night when nobody could hear him cry.

“Bucky? What’s wrong?” Steve reaches to brush a lock of long hair behind Bucky’s ear, he can’t help but sniffle at the action. How can Steve be so tender after just bashing his headspace? His own caregiver, how could he?

“Wh- why didn’t you defend me?” His bottom lip wobbles when he turns to see Steve’s shocked face.

“W-what?” He sounds perplexed, eyebrows furrowed thickly.

“In- inside you weren’t gonna say anything, you asked me to leave, wh-why?” His chest hitches under the heavy breaths he takes in, more tears starting to slip down his cheeks that he wipes at hastily.

“What do you mean?! Of course I was going to defend you, nobody has the right to talk about you like that! I just didn’t want you in the room while I did it.” Steve’s tone falls soft by the end, he leans to hold Bucky’s cheeks in both hands, brushing away the stray tears on his skin and pressing a kiss to his forehead.

“I didn’t mean to worry you, I’m sorry baby. I promise I will always defend you.” He takes Bucky into a tight huge quickly, rubbing his hands at Barnes’ back and peppering kisses into his hair.

“You’re my baby, and nobody gets to be mean to my baby. Understand?” He nods under Steve’s hold, nuzzling in closer as he feels the car starting to pull out of the towers driveway.

designing the cast of asphodelium

Asphodelium was a visual novel made pretty fast from initial concept to first demo, meaning all of the character designs (as well as the rest of the project) were done in about 2 1/2 months. I normally like to give myself a lot of time to figure out character designs (like several months), but that didn’t happen for this project.

The character I focused on the most for getting the right design was naturally Aster, the love interest. He’s on screen for a majority of the time and is the character you’ll be falling for, so it’s important to get his design right.

I wanted his hair to be messy and wispy, like it floated in the wind. I also wanted it to be something purple-ish, but I couldn’t decide if it should be light or dark. I went with something similar to the 2nd one here, though I ended up making it longer.

The next step was deciding on an outfit! Aster is a traveler who has spent the last several months roaming the country and the game is set during winter, so a jacket was a must. I went through several different styles of coats for him, ranging from something with a tight waist to bulky, oversized jackets. The oversized jacket on the far right is what won—it felt cozy while not exuding high confidence like the far left jacket does.

After another redraw of the outfit, all that was left was….the hair, again. I still hadn’t decided on a hair color for him, so I made quite a few tests. It wasn’t until a few people suggested mixing a few of the colors to make a duotone hair for him that I came upon the final design for Aster.

Next is Charlotte! She was the easiest to design as I already had an idea for her—a bob haircut with a fluffy pullover jacket.

Getting the shape of the hair was a bit of a challenge as well as the right shade. I wasn’t planning on making most of the characters have duotone hair, but by this point I realized it was inevitable.

Charlotte isn’t shown much with her coat which is a shame, it’s my favorite part of her design. I considered making her an extra outfit as well, but no one else would have as many outfit customizations as her (as she also has an apron) so I scrapped it.

Next is Bryn. Their design was somewhat hard as they’re the most energetic of the group and an ex-soldier, but I wanted something more modern for them. I had tried to design the cast around fantasy Victorian aesthetics, but Bryn threw that out of the window.

I knew I wanted them to have long hair and was leaning towards a red/brown hue for it. I ended up going with a hair style similar to the 1st, where it’s a messy short brown with a longer ponytail over the shoulder.

Last is Alexei, Charlotte’s younger brother. He’s a hunter who keeps to himself a lot, not talking much and preferring to be out in the forest.

Because I associate forests and fishing with him, I was originally planning on giving him a green color scheme, but I ended up giving Bryn a green-ish color scheme and a blue color scheme would be too close to Aster’s color scheme.

I had no clue what to do with his design! I wanted it to incorporate a scarf (again, winter) but had no clue what kind of jacket to put him in. After some more tests, I ended up putting him in a turtleneck and vest/jacket.

And here’s the final lineup!

What do you mean I’m missing a character? This is the entire cast! ...That’s designed.

I actually didn’t finalize the main character Hazel’s design before finishing the first demo, as they don’t have a sprite and only show up in CGs (the first demo didn’t have any CGs).

What will he look like in the full game? Something similar to these, namely the bottom right sketch. You can see Hazel’s design soon in the full game, coming out at the end of January 2024.

2024 Winter Season-What I Dropped

So here's the anime I decided to not to keep up with after 3 weeks:

The Demon Prince of Momichi House

I know we as a collective anime fans, are suffering from a sever lack in shoujo series but I couldn't hook me. Himuri with no family history, an orphan I assume, receives a will and the deed to the Momichi house. She goes, excited to have a place to reconnect with her unknown family past to find it already occupied. I'm sure they're be hijinks and she and Aoi end up together but I just didn't vibe with it.

Tales of Wedding Rings

An actual good fantasy OST for the first episode, a bop of an opening and then it's a harem fantasy anime...with yet another "Dark Lord" of the realm to beat and you can only fight with light magic. The cliche of that turned me off for the series, and I just couldn't stomach the thought of watching it? I may give it another shot when I can binge it but until then...nope!

The Strongest Tank Labyrinth Raids- A Tank with the 9999 Resistance Skill got Kicked from the Heroes Party

I watch too much fantasy survival series as is and had a suspicion it would turn into a harem anime (cursed genre/lh) so I dropped it. There wasn't anything stand out for the protagonist to me. He adventurers in search of a light-something that can cure his sister's incurable illness. After he leave the party, he saves a random chick and journeys on with her. Just wasn't my cup of tea.

The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil

A war with angels and devils exists and is happening, the devils are at disadvantage, so Masatora Akutsu comes to Earth to find someone to rally under and selects the sweetest girl in his class to find uh oh-she's an Angel and to spare his life is collared and has to obey her. Yeah no, not here for that. Also the CG in their short fight scene, ugh questionable? (apologies for the shitty photo quality)

Delusional Monthly Magazine

There wasn't a particular reason why I'm dropping this, I just didn't vibe with it. The character design is very remanent of Bullbuster , which I regretted last season keeping up with. It's an interesting take for including ancient Atlantian technology and spiritual powers but I just didn't vibe with it. I may give it another chance considering my boredom of not having many anime releases during the week.

Sengoku Youko

I was insanely bored with this. The fight scenes were anticlimactic and the characters too overpowered? Plus its going to be 37 episodes long...that's a TON of commitment from me so hard pass. I just am a very particular person when it comes to fantasy and mythology. I'm sure it's an amazing series but to stick around just for the shamisen music wasn't enough to keep me.

Snack Basue

For as many animanga accounts have praised this, especially since it's an adult comedy with some dark humor. Follows the shenanigans of a snack bar with the hostesses and a revolving door customers. I couldn't find myself watching another episode. The animation is, animated but the writing is on point.

And lastly Chained Soldier

Yet another harem anime (they're in my nightmares/j) but homedude is used to unlock the Captain's power so he's just used as a house husband going forward except for when they need him in battle. I already am losing braincells at work, might as well lose less by not watching this.

Winter 2023 Anime First Impressions

Below is a short list of anime that I'm currently watching, and my impressions of them so far. Please send me recommendations for currently airing anime since I'm not watching much this season.

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! (Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) is an adaptation of the popular rom-com manga of the same name. The anime starts with Aizawa Tomo (the Tomo-chan in Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!) confessing her love to her childhood friend Jun. Unfortunately, due to their rather strange friendship that revolves around them sparring often, along with other 'boyish' activities, Jun takes her confession of love as reaffirming their friendship. Honestly, I forgot that this anime going to air, since the manga finished years ago. The nature of the manga, which was released daily in one-page slices, originally gave me concern that the anime would be paced poorly. Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case. Tomo-chan so far has been a great show. While Tomo and Jun have some good gags, it's Tomo's friends that make the show as good as it is. It's my pick of the season if you want to watch a light-hearted slice-of-life anime. Check out the manga too.

NieR:Automata Ver1.1a

NieR:Automata Ver1.1a is the anime adaption of the 2017 video game NieR: Automata. The anime details the experiences of android soldiers (known as YoRHa units) 2B and 9S as they fight alongside their human creators against invading aliens and their seemingly infinite machine army. The game came out to critical praise, although reception of the game has gone down in the past few years. I was a fan of the game when I played it, but honestly, I don't remember much about the game's story. I do have a hard time believing that the anime will have anywhere as much a positive appraisal as the game did--it's just how anime based off of video games usually go. The biggest complaint so far from viewers has been the shoddy CG job. Anime CG is rarely good, but NieR:Automata Ver1.1a has some egregious examples, like the one above. You'd think that an anime as high profile as NieR:Automata Ver1.1a would at least have passible CG, but I guess A-1 Pictures has better things to do. Sans the bad CG, the anime is okay so far.

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san 2nd Attack

The second season of Nagatoro. Pretty self-explanatory. If you loved the first season, you'll love this. If you didn't...then you won't like this. Of course, the gags continue from the first season, but the ROM cart of 'rom-com' takes a huge step up. Hell, they pretty much are dating already as it stands. Also, I'm very sure that Senpai will get contacts this season, not to spoil any character growth. There's really no reason for Nagatoro to be included here, due to it being its second season, but I had to fill in space because a list with only two items would've been pretty embarrassing!

No pressure on ryan coogler but he actually knows what hes doing tho. But again marvel is marvel

Yeah but like I'm pretty sure these directors don't control the budget or the hiring. Like I'm pretty sure Taika can't say "actually I want the time constraints loosened and the cg animators to be paid more" he's just got to figure out how to make a Thor movie in the wearhouse green screen rooms they give him to work with and Black Panther's not gonna be any different. Marvel has a blueprint for how to make a movie with the maximum amount of human misery they can squeeze out and they're not gonna budge for some upstart who wants to make a real movie. Practical effects are dead and costuming is endangered in the MCU and it's not because all of these directors decided that they hate film and want to crush it it's because Disney is an assembly line the machinery of capital will keep grinding whether artists are there or not.

In addition to that, it doesn't matter how good of a movie Ryan Coogler makes. Even if he some how manages to turn out an objectively perfect Black Panther movie it's still going to be received poorly because Chadwick Boseman is dead and he's not recasting T'challa. That means the characters he has to work with are Shuri, Nakia, Okoye, M'baku, and Ramonda and then whoever else he decides to introduce or minor characters he chooses to expand upon. T'challa is dead, Kill monger is dead, winter soldier moved his white ass back to America and the future of Wakanda is female. Black Panther is about to become a female super hero. It's not coincidental that the movie that made Valkyrie lesbian and Korg gay was the movie that got heat despite being better than 90% of the mcu. This movie is going to get heat because of the misogynists. They don't want to see a woman on the throne, they don't want to see Shuri or Nakia take over the mantle of the Black Panther. People like you and I are not going to watch it because, despite how cool it would be to see the girls killing it, we're sick of the MCU and the fan boys aren't gonna watch it because they hate women. And there's gonna be a million hot takes about how this is actually the movie that's killing the marvel cinematic universe, when really the decline is because the audience can feel how robotic these movies are and this movie maybe did a little worse because the fan base of Tony stans that can usually be relied upon to turn out for every MCU movie are gonna skip this one because it's about black women. They're gonna call for Ryan to be fired just like they did with Taika and it's not gonna have anything to do with the quality of the movie.

I'm gonna go to this movie, I'm gonna be disappointed through no fault of the director or the cast, because nobody can spin straw into gold, and I'm gonna watch the marvel sycophants pretend that they don't like this movie for regular reasons when both me and the marvel sycophants know it's because they hate women.

My opinion on the Multiverse Saga so far.

So I know that Phase 4 was incredibly divisive and with Quantumania’s reception Phase 5 has already started the same trend. I don’t know if I am just easily pleasable but here are just quick thoughts on the Multiverse Saga.

WandaVision- Outside of having mild issues with the finale, great show. 9/10

Falcon and the Winter Soldier- Loved Walker. I mean I liked other things but by himself I loved this show. I thought the Flag Smashers were interesting but not too sympathetic in the grand deal. 8/10

Loki- Fantastic show. Enjoyed every character. HWR is fantastic in the finale. Favorite D+ show so far. 10/10

Black Widow- Fairly standard MCU movie. I liked Natasha and her family, Yelena especially. Also while I was not outraged, Taskmaster was boring. 6.5/10

What If?- Outside of some continuity issues, namely I am still confused as to how Thanos got 5 stones in 2015 in the Infinity Ultron episode and thinking that the Thor grows up as an only child episode could have gone in a more interesting way than he becomes a party fratbro douche, I really enjoyed this show. Hyped for the Tony and Gamora episode once Season 2 happens. 8/10

Shang-Chi- Just rewatched it last night. Fantastic, one of the best origin movies in the franchise. 9/10.

Eternals- It’ll have to take a rewatch, but I remember liking this movie in theaters. Maybe it was just because the sense of scale was impressive and made it an experience but I enjoyed it. Also some of the characters were great (Druig, Makkari, Thena, Gilgamesh) but it was kind of a mistake to have 10 new characters. 5.5/10

Hawkeye- Really liked this show. Great checking in on an underrated character, great seeing Yelena again and Kate is a great addition. 8/10

No Way Home- Loved this movie. Cemented Holland as my favorite live action-Spider-Man. Just an experience to watch it in theaters. 10/10

Moon Knight- I really hope Isaac comes back in some other project. He made this show. Other than that, nothing too special though the ending of the fourth episode is about as stunned as I have been watching anything ever. 8/10

Multiverse of Madness- Definitely requires a rewatch but I remember liking the movie for the most part but thinking that in spite of Olsen’s amazing performance, Wanda’s story was mishandled. Also the trailer did seem to imply the multiverse aspect would be played up more. 7.5/10

Ms. Marvel- Loved Kamala, loved Bruno and thought the first 3 episodes and finale were great, but the villains sucked and the 4th and 5th episodes were fairly boring. 7.5/10

Love and Thunder- I do think this movie has some good parts. The ending was great, when he did have screentime Gorr was great, Thor and Jane’s romance felt real unlike in the Dark World. But I agree with the point of the movie was too jokey. Also Korg seemingly dying but being reduced to a face that still makes annoying jokes and stating the obvious annoyed me almost as much as 3PO seemingly dying in Rise of Skywalker and then there being a back up memory file. 6/10

She-Hulk- Liked this show. Didn’t think there was anything special about it good or bad. Thought the last 2 episodes were great. Liked the fourth wall breaking though disliked Matt and Jen having sex since I was a huge Matt/Karen shipper from Daredevil Netflix. Also while the CG wasn’t that good I never thought it was terrible. 6/10

Werewolf By Night-Just really liked this, hope they do this sort of special more often. 9/10

Wakanda Forever- Loved this movie. While Ironheart’s introduction was a little clumsy and Ross’s plot is also clearly all set up, everything else is great. Namor is a great villain, I thought Shuri was thankfully a way better character than she was in any prior movie and Ramonda was just sublime. 9/10

Guardians Holiday Special- Just loved this special. Gunn has done no wrong in the whole franchise. Can’t wait for Guardians 3. 9/10

Quantumania- Loved Kang though his introduction has been clumsy. Scott is great as always and so was Janet. Also parts of it were just so wonderfully bizzare. On the other hand, Hope was just so irrelevant, and Cassie’s character change was kind of too abrupt. 6/10

Guardians 3- Just I have basically no words. It's absolutely fantastic. Rocket and Star-Lord in particular are done so well but it is just such a great finale to Hunt's trilogy. 9/10

Secret Invasion- This show generally sucked. Good first episode and the individual performances are great and Sonya is fantastic and that's it. Hated Talos's death, hated the Rhodey reveal. Hated the surprisingly low amount of intrigue and surprise. Also insane that Fury couldn't find the Skrulls a planet considering that Thanos's planet with the garden is empty. 3/10

Loki Season 2. Fantastic. If this is Loki's finale then it was a great ending to one of the best MCU characters ever. OB is fantastic the expansions to every old character except for Sylvie is done really well. OB is fantastic. In spite of his real life issues Majors is awesome. 9/10

The Marvels- Loved Kamala, The primary dynamic between the three leads is great, the Young Avengers setup was cool. The sequence where the Flerkens eat the SABER people was actually really funny. Kamala's family are great. Fury is entertaining. On the other hand the movie is too short and Dar-Benn is not a terrible villain but could have been great. 7/10

“Oh look what you did!” Cap says. “mmhn.. bubs..!” You babble, reaching for them. “What happened??” They both say, looking worried and confused. “scawy dweam..! oo wasnt der..” you say, sniffing. Bucky picks you up, and motions for Cap to make you a bottle.

He’s always prepared for everything with you. Having a little bag he brings everywhere with toys, bottles, and snacks. On the other hand, Bucky is never prepared, always taking things head on. He bounces you up and down, “it’s okay prince! You’re okay!” He repeats over and over again, shushing you every once in awhile. Cap brings back a bottle, holding it to your lips while telling you random stories he thought about before hand.

“One time, months back, I was on a mission. I had to defeat evil guys!! They were strong, but no match for me!” You giggle a bit, while Bucky bounces you and takes the bottle while Cap takes the stage! He starts making hand and body motions with every word, making you giggle. “I’m too strong for them, prince! I couldn’t let them hurt anybody!” His hands flowing through the air, moving with his body to form poses that showed off his muscles. Bucky rolled his eyes but stared into yours, giving you the reassurance to snuggle into him. “That’s when I found you! You were there, hiding! I picked you up and when I saw those perfect eyes, I had to have you! That’s when you told me you slipped into little space because of those scary guys! I had to make you my little, prince!”

You doze off, his voice fades and Bucky puts you down to sleep again, both of them hovering over you to make sure you don’t have another bad dream again!
