On April 1st, Saguru came to class to find a walrus placidly sitting at Kuroba’s desk. It was wearing the school uniform top, and appeared to be reading a tablet in one flipper.

“You.” Aoko hissed, grabbing Saguru’s arm and tugging him into the classroom. “This is your fault.”

“My fault?!” He echoed in surprise. He certainly had nothing to do with Kuroba being a walrus. Nor had been around when ‘All Fools Day’ had come into existence.

“He’s gotten worse about showing off his magic since you became friends.” Aoko said stubbornly. “You’re a bad influence.”

“I’m a bad influence? On Kuroba?!” Saguru couldn’t help the shock and disbelief that flowed out.

He, a detective, was a bad influence on the Kaitou Kid. Unbelievable.

The walrus turned in their direction at Saguru’s outburst, Kuroba’s blue eyes sparkling, before Kuroba’s laughter filled the air, one flipper hitting the desktop.

Aoko pointed at the laughing walrus and glared, as if this was proof of Saguru’s bad influence.

Five different fandoms, five different ships

Get to know the blogger, via five different ships from five different fandoms! I was tagged by @piecesofeden11 thank you so much for that my friend. Also I love your tag #why have a ship when you can have a fleet, very fitting.

Obikin, Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker, in all its forms and variations and with added extras. This is the pairing that has stolen my heart and invaded my life, and it is in this fandom that I have found my home among friends.

Prideship, which is the pairing between Seto Kaiba and Yami Yugi. This is the pair that started this madness for me, and to this day, one of my favorite fics is still a fic from this fandom, Guard Dog by Icka M Chif (mischif).

Drarry, Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy. It's largely thanks to the Harry Potter books that I originally found my passion for reading, and when I found fandom so much, later I was naturally curious. Not surprisingly, it was this ship that caught my interest.

These are the three fandoms I have read fic in (so unbelievably many of them) but after I stumbled into the SW fandom… well the rest is history

But if I were to read other ships it might be.

Aragolas, Aragorn/Legolas. LOTR is still deeply rooted in who I am, and should I find my way out of the galaxy far far away ( I really hope that doesn't happen) this is probably where I would go… also have you seen those two, HOT!

Horace Altman/Will Treaty, from John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series. This would definitely be a ship that I would enjoy reading. I love the ladies in this series and they should have been a couple, just like Will and Horace should have been.

“Sharon!” Alfredo entered the dining room as Sharon had just sat down. “We need to talk.”

“Papa, it can wait. We are just about to eat.” Sharon waved her father away.

“No, it can’t wait,” Alfredo shook his head, “I still don’t understand you icka. How could you have fired the Valentes?” 

“This is my house,” Sharon just shook her head, “I don’t owe you any explanations about my staffing decisions.”

“Do you even know where they are?” Alfredo continued, “Aren’t you concerned in the slightest?”

“It’s not my concern…”

“Relax Alfredo,” Ambar walked to the table, rolling her eyes, “They're fine.”

“Ambar, this is a grown up conversation,” Sharon tried to interrupt but Alfredo ignored her.

“Do you know where they are? Are they alright?”

“More than fine, working at the Peridas” Ambar huffed, “I should have figured that. Luna probably fixed it with Nina, she’s Gastón’s girlfriend.”

“So you know them?” Alfredo looked at Sharon again. 

“I am aware of Isla and Marco Perida, yes,” Sharon huffed, “Two upstarts from Cordoba slums, thinking that they can just fool themselves into circles they don’t belong in. They’re pretenders who won’t stay on top for long.”

“They have stayed there for over ten years now,” Ambar mumbled.

“What was that?”

“Nothing.”

“Rey!” Sharon ordered after the dinner had been eaten, “Tell me that you have new intel on the Valentes.”

“I have been doing the research,” Rey started, “What your goddaughter just said is accurate. Peridas have a son who runs it in the same circles as Luna and her friend, who we have seen here as well, is involved with him. Funnily enough, it took a while to even confirm that there even was a child…”

“Did you think that I wanted to hear about teenagers' love-quarrels?!” Shron snarled at Rey. “I need solutions! Valentes need to be stopped and then staying there is dangerous!”

“Forgive me, Mrs. Benson, but how is this dangerous?” Rey scratched the back of his neck, “The danger was keeping them here, because Luna’s memories may return.”

“They were supposed to go back to Mexico and forget about us, now that is not possible,” Sharon shook her head, “Now, if Luna ever tries to find out about her past, those idiots will want to help and if she ever finds out the Valentes will have allies, powerful ones."

Hehe, Sharon just not having fun in this fic. She has some evil plans, maybe, we'll see. Sharon doesn't like Gastón's parents anymore than in the last, but they won't be as hard to crack she might think

See You Again by cookietosser One Piece Teen. Family/Angst. Rocinante; Law. 15k Rocinante has been through a lot in his life. Adding uncontrollable time travel into the mix? That's just the icing on the cake.

The Dragon-King's Temple by Kryal Stargate SG-1/Avatar: The Last Airbender Teen. Friendship. Zuko; Toph; Jack. 196k Through the spite of the spirits or plain rotten chance, a door that would have been better left untouched has opened. On the other hand, with Fire and Earth as one's allies, sometimes escaping is the easy part.

The Family You Choose by TunaFishChris Avatar: The Last Airbender Teen. Family/Friendship. Zuko; The Gaang. 36k Some people are born with soulmarks. Zuko has them, but his grandfather burned them off because they "make you weak." Team Avatar has a few things to say about that.

Ichigo, Harry, Weasley Twins. 61k Ichigo’s been ordered to go undercover at a magic school to bodyguard a kid named Harry Potter, and this would be fine, except that he’s about as good at bodyguarding as he is at magic. And he considers it a good day, magic-wise, if he hasn’t set anything on fire.

Uncle Bilbo Is Not Going On Your Adventure by Erisah_Mae Lord of the Rings Gen. Family. Bilbo, Frodo, Thorin, Gandalf. 16k Gandalf assumes that he is going to be able to bully Bilbo into coming along on the quest for Erebor. You know what they say about people who assume... Bilbo's not going, and nothing Gandalf can say is going to change his mind.

Watashitachi wa Roger kaizoku desu (we still stand proud) by stereden One Piece Teen. Family/Hurt/Comfort. Buggy; Shanks, Roger Pirates. 280k The Roger Pirates disappeared after their Captain's death, and were happy enough to let the Marines forget about them. Until the Marines decide to execute their Captain's son, that is.

What the Cat Dragged In by Kryal Marvel/Miraculous Ladybug Gen. Friendship. Tony; Adrien; Marinette. 70k Tony's pretty sure it's written into cosmic law somewhere: superheroes are not supposed be cute. Apparently, no one's told these two. He’s okay with that.

While the Ring Went South... by ThunderaTiger Lord of the Rings Gen. Friendship. The Fellowship. 145k For two weeks, the Fellowship wandered south from Rivendell making for Caradhras, yet Tolkien tells us almost nothing of this journey. Behold the missing scenes!

[DCMK SS] Fluff and angst in tandem is an ideal pairing. And don't you worry, Kaito is very dear to my heart - most of the MK characters are, in fact! As for your fic favorites - 12 Days of Murder was one of the first fics I read upon getting into the fandom and it's a particular favorite of mine. I love the case, I love the dynamic between Kaito and Saguru! Ty for these fic recs <3 Another question for u - are there any songs you associate with Kaito / any of Kaito's relationships?

I’m glad you like the fics! And even more exciting that “25 Days” was one of your firsts as it was mine. Icka M. Chif is the very reason I’m so infatuated with Saguru, I’m sure. And of course, the MK characters are always going to have a special place in my heart, especially since it was Kaito who dragged me into DCMK, haha!

 As for songs, I’m sad to say I don’t have too many as I would like. But I do have a few!

 The first has been on my brain for the past week, but “Finale (Can’t Wait To See What You Do Next)” by AJR gives me quite a bit of Kaito vibes. Primarily because it makes me think about Kaito and how he views KID. He enjoys it, there’s no doubt about it, but also constantly having to make sure your next heist makes people excited? That all those watching will experience something that is just as good as the last? The idea of that pressure is delicious to me.

 “O.K. Fine” by Clover the Girl is another one I’ve recently started tying to Kaito, simply because I do adore the trope of Kaito hiding his true feelings to prevent others from being concerned. This one doesn’t really do anything special with it and is very upfront about its message, but I still find myself associating it with Kaito and that part of him.

 “A Mask Of My Own Face” by Lemon Demon fits a similar bill as “O.K. Fine,” but especially for this verse:

“I’d wear it on Thanksgiving and I'd laugh in the parade At all the people hissing, knowing I'm the one they hate And at the big finale I would tear my face away And smile as they grip their own and try to do the same”

A much more dismissive take on the whole fakeness of who he is, but still troubling when you think about it for enough time.

As for relationships, I’m afraid I only have two, and one of those is more so of a weird AU?? Not really??

The first is “Achilles Come Down” by Gang of Youths, which I highly recommend just for how gut-wrenching the song is. I’ve always found myself imagining Kaito as Achilles and the one trying to convince him not to jump either being Saguru or Shinichi. And of course, the one telling him to jump is himself, his own self-loathing, and the pain he feels he’s caused in regards to the Nakamori’s and (maybe his own mother?). It could also be Aoko, but I’ve always imagined it being one of the detectives.

And of course, the sorta AU one is “Sad Machine” by Porter Robinson, of which I’ve always compared the song to something talking to Kaito and telling him that Aoko “depends on him.” Though, reading through the lyrics one more time, it could also be read as Pandora. I’ll be honest, I’m not as certain about this one as I am with the others, but I think about it enough times to warrant it on here.

 Well, that’s all I have for ya! Wish I had more to offer, but these are all the ones I came to my own conclusions on and didn’t steal from playlists, haha. I hope you enjoy them and thank you very much for the question!!!

Magic Kaito Drabble (100 words)

“I have feelings towards you.” Hakuba informed Kid, the detective’s face a grim mask, eyes burning.

“Uh…” Kid eloquently stammered. This was a bit unexpected. He didn’t know what to say or think. He was a jewel thief. He was here to steal gems, not discuss feelings.

“Annoyance mostly.” Hakuba continued, almost thoughtfully. “Occasionally anger. Awe. Disbelief. Wonder. Such as wondering how you got enough Silly String to completely immobilise the Task Force.” Kid glanced around at the various police officers sticking to the walls and ceiling, trapped like flies in a spiderweb.

Ah, okay. That was much more understandable.

i’ve only seen the first two seasons of detco so far, and the first movie, as well as a couple of Kaito’s episodes and his first movie - it started with my roommate showing me some Kaito stuff, then Heiji’s intro, and then we decided to watch the canon episodes and fun filler (while she is plowing through every episode, even the sucky filler, and is in the 400s). However, i feel like i know Kaito a lot better than i technically do, bc he’s roommate’s favorite character by a lot and she’s told me like everything about him lol

i’ve read a few fics, mostly by icka m chief! so i’ve become a bit partial to sagukai and have started to get comfortable using Kaito’s voice in writing, which is fun, bc i’ve also come to really like him really fast haha he’s just so fun and interesting, especially once you peel back Kaitou Kid to get a good look at Kuroba Kaito

as for favorite characters, i think i genuinely favor Shinichi (even if i want to punt him lol)! i love all four Gosho boys, and Shinichi is just so………he’s fascinating to me idk. i want to study him. i don’t think i’d actually like him very much if he were like a classmate in school, bc i know he does have friends but he can also grate on people and i think irl he would annoy me and i would talk shit about him to my friends haha. but he has a lot of genuine love and fear and bravery that he masks to keep up the guise of ‘unflappable teenage genius’ and like. boy please get some sleep

i also just adore Ran and Sonoko, both as a dynamic and as individuals! they’re both really fun

If you haven't already, I encourage you to look her up at @ickaimp, or join the DCMK Fanfic Server to mingle with a good chunk of the fandom's best and most prolific writers today!

I'm very much looking forward to your gift, but to give you some advice: take however - however - long you want or need to finish it. Don't let that all-terrifying Deadline scare you into rushing something out; I can't speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't judge you one iota for turning it in a week, a month, or even a year after Christmas. This is something that should be fun for you, first and foremost.

The problem with being the Guardian of Wonder was that Wonder was not Awe. That feeling of surprise and admiration was certainly part of Wonder, but so was the unstoppable desire to know things. To learn, to explore, to understand.

Things never are quite the same after that.

Every time I get into a Rise of the Guardians mood I wind up back at this fic.

If Jack and Bunnymund had started a friendship in 1818 when Jack was a young spirit, meeting up each year around Easter all the way up until Jack gets chosen as a guardian.

Inspired by @rufftoon’s “Old Hills” comic, which you should also definitely read (+ all the comics liked at the bottom of the fic)
