#jc ruined his relationship with jl and wwx

Was thinking about Jiang Cheng last night, and what I understood of his character– and especially of his relationship with Wei Wuxian, because obviously, every aspect of his character is shown through the lens of their relationship owing to the fact that Wei Wuxian is the main character.
I don't think it's a bad thing, but I do wish that we could have got some serious in-depth of a lot of characters from their own perspectives, but it works for me and my overactive brain to fill in the gaps.
I genuinely feel heartbroken over their relationship because I know that the love is there, and always will be. Even if it's now tainted with too many harsh words and spilt blood, the love is still there. The problem lies in how Jiang Cheng was raised.
At first, I used to think that Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan are not that bad of parents but after thinking over it, I have realised that they are not good either. In fact, when it comes to Jiang Cheng, they did a terrible job. JFM essentially neglected JC because of his similarity to his mother, leaving him craving for love. YZY on the other hand, constantly put him down by comparing him to WWX.
Both of these things became a core part of how JC thinks and feels. He never received unconditional love from his parents, and his relationship was strained with WWX, but he still loves them all. He is a classic Slytherin, in my opinion. He is definitely ambitious and loves his cultivation but another thing that I characterize Slytherins by is the difference in which they treat those inside their circle and outside their circle.
So, for JC, the people inside this circle are: JFM, YZY, WWX & JYL (and afterwards JL, but that's inconsequential to this post since I'm focusing more on the JC before WWX's resurrection). Even if they treat him badly, he loves them to death. He would go to the world's end for them, and all he wants in return is for them to be by his side.
Which is what WWX fails to do after the Wen situation. (I'm not blaming him, I totally support WWX's decision; I'm just painting it from JC's pov.) At a time when he had lost his parents and JYL was getting married and going away, the only tether for him was WWX– so when he chose the Wens (outsiders, for JC) and demonic cultivation over him, it was betrayal for him.
I believe there are 3 feelings that ruined their relationship, from JC's side: ① betrayal ② jealousy ③ loneliness.
The feeling of betrayal ties in to the loneliness heavily. At the root of everything is the fact that JC struggles with love; he loves deeply, but doesn't quite know how to express it at times because his own parents were lousy at doing that. (I wanna give him a tight hug so bad ugh.)
The jealousy... Well, that's the factor that ruined it the most. And I believe that if only JFM had looked past the fact that JC's mother is YZY, and had loved him as freely as he did WWX, and if YZY had not constantly compared them, then JC could have grown up without the compulsive need to constantly compare himself to WWX. It's not that he does it on purpose, but something that's wired in him because of the glaring difference in them that his parents keep pointing out, whether it's with his actions or her words.
The thing is... WWX was literally the worst person to compare himself to. He was literally a genius, a prodigy, a once-in-a-generation kind of cultivator. And also a classic Gryffindor example. Brave, reckless and strong sense of justice. That's what marks the main difference between them.
JC would choose his family/inner circle over justice. WWX would choose justice over his family/inner circle.
Those feelings of betrayal, jealousy and loneliness come out in the form of misplaced anger and hatred in the 13 years WWX is gone on every person who does demonic cultivation. I feel like JC was trying to find him too, but it was in equal parts love and equal parts hatred.
The point in the climax when he gets angry at WWX and mocks him about how good he is, and constantly better than JC that he even gives away his golden core– that scene hurt me so much. I was really upset with him, but well, his words struck me. Even now, he is still comparing himself to WWX. He has always tried to catch up to the image of WWX, in hopes of gaining his mother's pride and his father's love and even long after they are gone, he feels the need to prove himself to the rest of the world that he is Jiang Cheng. He is Jiang Wanyin, heir to the Yunmeng Jiang clan and worthy of leading them.
It's literally no secret how much he despises that everyone sees him as someone 'not Jiang like'. Their motto doesn't match him. But WWX does. WWX gets his father's love freely. WWX is the talented cultivator that everyone praises and sees, and it's never him. Never JC.
He spent his entire life trying to catch up to WWX, then chasing him in hatred, only to realise that he never could. No matter what he did, he would never measure up to WWX. And he is grateful, he is thankful for what WWX did, but it came out in the usual way all his feelings do: anger and derision. That scene hurts, but it made me finally understand JC.
Honestly, my biggest takeaway from all this was that JC deserved better parents. I love him and I love WWX and I want their relationship to be better desperately but knowing that with all that has happened, I also know it's going to be really really hard. I still want to believe in my own hc that post-canon, they sit down and talk like mature adults and get all this out of the way.
Be the brothers they always should have been, even if they can't be the Twin Heroes of Yunmeng anymore.
(Sorry this got a little long hahaha~)
Edit: And I just want to add that JC never needed to compare himself or 'catch up' to WWX. That's where his parents failed him. Nobody telling him that he is enough and wonderful and loved as he is. I would love to jump in and just, give him a tight hug and say all these things to the younger JC. That I'm proud of him. That's he's enough.

me being annoying about a fictional man for a minute
i really don't care if ppl like jiang cheng or not but oh my god his haters are fucking annoying. i won't even get into how badly they interpret his rship with wwx EXCEPT 2 SAY that ppl calling jiang cheng an abuser is such an absurd and willfully stupid reading that it makes me scream. so much of it is hardcore projection mixed with ultra woobification of wwx lmfao i wish people could just accept that not every complicated and/or bad relationship is abusive. the text makes it soooo insanely clear that their rship is broken and messy bc of mistakes they both made and things that were also outside of their control like the fucking big bads orchestrating catastrophic events that ruined their fucking lives lmfao
ANYWAY
the thing i saw that made me black out was someone saying they refused to believe jc actually helped raise jin ling and that he was raised mostly by jin guangyao which lol. lmao. jgy himself remarks that jc "loves [jin ling] the most", and it's stated that jin ling spends half the year w jc and half w jgy. jc is protective of jl to a fault, spoils him, and proves several times over that he'd rather die than let anything happen to him, and is the person who protects and looks out for his best interests post-canon. and jin ling Adores him lmao like you can hate jiang cheng all you want, but it's plain text that he's a loving uncle and guardian, and his best rship in the series is with jin ling. i think what kills me about this in particular is that these same people insist that if you "actually read the books", you'll know that jc is an evil abuser, and then apparently get amnesia about all the things in the books that contradict their headass takes.
jc stans can be fucking annoying and pretend that he has no flaws and woobify him and that ALSO sucks and i hate them, too. if people don't stop boiling him down to a stupid one dimensional caricature of himself i am going to start biting.
anyway the point here is that i'm right and everyone else is wrong and they don't know how to fucking read. the end

sometimes i think about how zhancheng’s relationship is (almost) double the lenght of wangxian.
wangxian is like... they met in CR and lwj fell in love & wwx became kinda obsessed/found a friend (time: about maybe 6 months)
and then only had occasional meetings over the next years before the war fully breaks out when they are maybe 17. upon which they alienate each other through continued miscommunication and omissions. after the war lwj spends a year at CR and wwx at LP until wwx frees the wens and spends another year, with one (1) a visit from lwj, at the burial mounds until he dies at maybe 22. when he and lwj knew each other for less than four years (i’m excluding the time they spend apart)
13 years after that he spends months with lwj, getting to know him, falling in love, etc. until they get married at the end of the story.
meanwhile zhancheng is like... they also met in CR but didn’t have much of an impact on each others’ lifes other that lwj was the guy wwx was obsessed about. but then they spend those three months with eachother. jc who just lost his sect, wwx and won’t let himself fall apart. and lwj who is looking for the guy he loves while they’re in a war and his home was burned and his father is dead. and they do this together.
then during the war i think they kinda drift apart bc wwx was found and wwx was what pulled them together in the first place and now he is pushing lwj away.
then jyl is dead. wwx dies. lwj vanishes with wwx. and wwx is dead. jc is alone and rebuilding a sect and partly raising a baby and hates. lwj meanwhile mourns his love and heals and raises lsz and hates.
three years after that they meet again and at maybe 25 is when their story really starts.
they hate each other. lwj is the one who protected wwx when jc couldn’t - because of his feelings, because of his sect, because of jyl. jc is the one who didn’t protect wwx - was the one rumored to have killed him.
they push each other. tear each other apart. ruin each other and there is no other person who knows either of them as good as each other. not jl who understands jc’s brashness and cruel words, and soft hands when he had a nightmare or feels inferior to his parent’s legacy but has things that are out of grasp for a child. not lxc who almost knows lwj as good as he knows himself but doesn’t understand him sometimes. not nhs who grew up with both of them but pulls always further into himself after his brother’s death and while there, his presence is always superficially and never meaningful. not the few civilian elders who survived the burning and knew jc as a child. not lsz who adores his father.
and even if their relationship stays one of hate forever i fell like spending ten (thirteen) years hating someone brings a whole new kind of intimacy and depth.

ep34 (1/2): jeez this is so painful
yeah gonna be real here guys this first half is probably one of my least favorite parts of the show. boring, drawn-out, confusing, unnecessarily complicated, making lwj act all weird and cold, jarring tonal shifts and disrespectful handling of very serious and character-relevant trauma. it's kind of shit
Tumblr media
I skipped the scene where wwx was funning because they made him look so absurd and they turned it into a joke and it always pisses me off, but lwj flipping over the crowd like this was kind of funny at least
Tumblr media
this running joke is also pretty funny
Tumblr media
as a contrast to nhs, I imagine
Tumblr media
THERE HE IS!!!
Tumblr media
I don't like this scene at all, nor do I like the multiple shots back to lwj to make extremely small expressions responding to the info we just learned. like, so what? also his hairpiece is genuinely too big for his head imo
Tumblr media
so this is something. wwx is clearly afradi of dogs, but never comes out and says it. instead, he says they chased after him on the streets and then jc had to give up his dogs, and then he transitions right into remarking bitterly how jl is just like jc (also hates him). not so much a discussion of wwx himself as it is a reflection on how he feels about his relationships right now
Tumblr media
wwx physically grabbing and yanking lwj around is kind of fun but he was so mean to wwx this episode I got so mad! like, he seemed frustrated and annoyed with wwx for being scared and he ignored him earlier in the marketplace and lost track of him and now he's just being very cold and not offering any comfort or understanding. I've never liked or understood why he acts like this here. it's not like this behavior is what he normally does later or what he did right when wwx came back
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HA. yeah this section is super long and boring and confusing but this was funny
Tumblr media
see THIS is more like lwj, wwx tells him to go chase the spy and that he'll meet him later, but lwj is unwilling to leave him until wwx emphasizes I WILL meet you later I promise
Tumblr media
however this is also very stupid because how can nhs outrun lwj??? one of the strongest cultivators in the world??? I guess they do know who it is immediately but if so, why not tell US? this is irritating, the way they come to conclusions silently then don't tell the audience
Tumblr media
I love it when he complains. people characterize wwx as uncomplaining too much but by postres he is DONE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh my god is that the same charm? OOF
Tumblr media
this scene is so pretty I love the ground and the lights
Tumblr media
jc saying that he can control jl no matter how old he is 😬😬😬
Tumblr media
goddammit wwx stop agreeing with jc for misogynistic reasons
Tumblr media
oh and this scene is SO stupid. ruins a dramatic and powerful reveal by making his fear of dogs into a stupid joke AGAIN
Tumblr media
something I noticed back in ep33 was how disappointed jc looked after wwx fell. he looks the same here.
fuck, here we go. the infamous inn scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their conversation here is really interesting and reveals a lot, but it's just so hard to watch bc wwx is currently being tormented and clearly isn't thinking as clearly as he would be otherwise. you know if the situations were reversed jc would be cursing wwx to take the dog away and would refuse to even have a conversation
Tumblr media
he tries here, for a few seconds, to be cold and detatched. to not even look up as wwx whimpers. but he fails, in the end, he's too angry. throwing that tea cup across the room made me flinch
Tumblr media
he literally killed himself man idk what more you expect him to do
Tumblr media
oh I think this was translated differently elsewhere as 'you're the one who hasn't grown up,' I liked that
Tumblr media
oh this is evil, one of the most evil things he ever does - tell fairy to come closer, terrify wwx into silence and then, what? prove that he, jc, is stronger after all? that he's more adult? maybe just use it as an excuse to lash out and hurt wwx more, feel good about having that control over him, being able to harm him? on the contrary, it's the technique and argument of a child. and a bully, at that
Tumblr media
aw man this flashback where he jumped directly in jyl's arms 🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is also so cruel! he's clearly having some kind of panic attack, how is he supposed to be held responsible for jc's feelings right now? actually really emblematic of their entire dynamic - jc expecting to be catered to never mind that wwx is literally losing his mind out of fear right now
in the novel he actually called for lwj, but I like the change because I thought it didn't make a lot of sense given that he had only just been freed from gusu and he and lwj were barely on decent terms
whew. continued on part two. FUCK YOU JIANG CHENG

[Anonymous asked:
Lan SiZhui asks Jiang Cheng for Jin Ling's hand and all Jiang Cheng sees is a Wen. Wens took his home, took his brother's core, like hell he'll let them take his nephew. He grabs Lan SiZhui's forehead ribbon and ties it around his eyes as he rips the clothes from him then fucks the nude and begging Lan SiZhui saying how this is all a Wen is good for, that he should be obedient and subservient and the best damn /servant/ Jin Ling's ever had, but never his husband.
Answer:
Oh. Oooooooh. Jiang Cheng and his trauma inflicting trauma on the next generation.
Lan Sizhui would go home in tears and Jin Ling would never speak to his uncle again. Which, of course, makes Lan Sizhui feel worse because HE caused an irreparable rift between Jin Ling and his uncle.]

Follow-up to Manipulative Madam Jiang AU, WWX comes back from his tour of the Jianghu with LWJ and finds JL strangely distanced from JC and JC somehow fucking married (since when?! What do you mean, for the past 5 years?!?! They only left for 6 months, how could he have been married! (Madam Jiang likes to keep herself private, JC does anything she says, and she just hates WWX as a person, why would she show herself around him)).
As they come back and the estranged brothers gradually start trying to rebuild a relationship ruined by over a decade's worth of lies and resentment, WWX sees Madam Jiang around a lot. Like, far more than the wife of a sect leader should normally be around guests visiting her husband. Like she's following them and waiting outside the doors. It rubs him the wrong way, call him paranoid. LWJ also doesn't like it, but he doesn't like JC in general, so he's not really looking too closely at the cracks.
Then one night, WWX is up late once again, heading back from the kitchens with some alcohol and good spices for their trip back to the CR in a few days when he spots Madam Jiang (his shidimei, what's she up so late for) slipping out of a room and heading the other way like she doesn't want to be noticed. He heads in (he's never left it alone, can he?) And finds a half-burnt letter in the room's fire pit, marked with the seal of Jinlintai's sect leader. From JL.
Honestly thought this was going to end with her poisoning WWX because he just won't stay away like she wants him to.

something that i’ve seen a lot in fics and posts is people getting annoyed at lwj for getting between jc and wwx and/or jc and wwx’s reconciliation. someone will write about lwj trying to maintain distance between the two of them and people will complain about how lwj overstepping his bounds and be mad that he’s not letting them be brothers again. which like yeah, fantastic, if you want a reconciliation lwj is definitely going to be an obstacle stopping that, but you need to look at it from lwj’s point of view.
lwj was told by everyone that jc killed wwx (or at the very least was responsible for his death) and jc never contradicted that. he also led the siege of the burial mounds; he wasn’t someone who tagged along to try and keep his reputation without actually partaking in the bloodshed, he didn’t come to help save wwx or the wens, jc led the attack on the burial mounds. that implies a certain level of intent to kill or harm that can’t be easily ignored.
jc then proceeded to spend the next thirteen years (or sixteen because he did this in cql too) torturing and killing demonic cultivators. while you could interpret that as jc just wanting to stop demonic cultivators from fucking things up and causing any mayhem and suffering, it’s pretty clear from the way jc reacts when wwx comes back from the dead that he was killing them all on the off chance that one of them was wwx. to be clear, jc garnered a reputation of killing anyone who might have possibly been wwx. one of mdzs’s themes is about the damaging nature of rumours, so you could try and interpret jc’s reputation as a rumour that’s spun out of control, but, given the way jl reacted when jc captured wwx, it’s probably fair to say that there’s a decent amount of truth in his reputation - a reputation that lwj is probably well aware of.
so now you have lwj living in a world where the one other person who should be mourning the loss of wwx is someone who caused his death and is still so caught up in their past that he keeps wanting to kill him again if he ever comes back. this isn’t a condemnation of jc’s character, it’s just the image of his character that his actions cast.
anyway, wwx comes back to life and jc immediately tries to kill him, forcing lwj to step in between them to protect wwx, and then jc spends the rest of the novel actively antagonising wwx. this is from trying to kill him some more to trapping him in a room with his greatest fear to trying to ruin his relationship with the one person who’s standing by his side. jc doesn’t once show any hint that he wants to get along with wwx again (unless you count him telling wwx to kneel before his parent’s tablets and then when he does exactly that, attacking him again) until the truth comes out at guanyin temple.
say what you want to about whether they should or shouldn’t reconcile but lwj definitely isn’t being unreasonable when he’s being cautious about jc. if wwx were to tell him that he wants to reconcile with his brother and make amends, he’d probably first tell him that there’s nothing to make amends for but then he’d let wwx do that - lwj would keep close to wwx to protect him but he wouldn’t get in the way of their reconciliation. at the end of the novel though, wwx and jc split paths and the focus is on the future that wwx gets to have with his new family instead of his past with his old family and reconciling with jc. so no, lwj trying to keep jc away from wwx isn’t him being a “bad” character, it’s him being protective over someone who has been repeatedly hurt time and time again by someone who, just a few weeks ago, would have killed wwx on the spot.
from jc’s pov it’s a lot more complicated because this is his brother who he’d loved and lost, who he thought had betrayed him and caused him to lose so much, and he’s carried that rage with him for 13(/16) years. and when he finds out the truth, when he learns that he’d never actually lost his brother, he might decide that he wants to make up with him. we know that the twin prides of lotus pier are a dead dream - they’d been killed after the sunshot campaign and their coffin only sealed properly in guanyin temple - but they could still be family if they put the effort in.
now jc might want that, he might wake up one morning and decide that he’s lost too much to let wwx and jc live their second life as strangers, but lwj isn’t going to know that! lwj isn’t going to know about the way wwx had comforted jc at his lowest by telling him about how they could be the twin prides, he isn’t going to know about the way wwx had pulled away after the war when jc needed his strength the most, he’s not going to know about the way jc clung onto the promise of wwx’s future by his side only to have wwx leave him. all lwj knows is that jc has spent just as many years hating wwx as he did loving his brother. and if you want to create a reconciliation for wwx and jc that is accurate and loyal to the characters, you need to be able to acknowledge that; lwj isn’t being petty towards jc because of some contrived reason, he loathes him because of everything he did to hate wwx and spit on his memory.
lwj isn’t going to step aside and let jc get anywhere near wwx until he proves that he’s not going to hurt wwx again. there’s a lot of nuance in their relationship - being between wwx and jc or between lwj and jc - that tends to get flattened down and ignored in order to make a reconciliation work. reconciliation between wwx and jc is hard work and part of it is proving that things will be different when you’re given a second chance. when lwj got given his second chance, he did everything he regretted never doing before - he stood by wwx and protected him and loved him and he was unabashed and proud in everything he did for wwx. jc and wwx have been given a second chance too and them becoming brothers again isn’t as simple as lwj being pissy and protective and wwx and jc drinking a lot and then deciding they’re brothers again, it’s jc showing that he doesn’t want wwx dead anymore and wwx trusting jc with the truths about himself or the world that he’d always tried to hide from him. and that’s even before they actually get to reconcile.
#mdzs#modao zushi#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#lan wangji#yunmeng bros#i guess?#like i love reconciliation fics a lot but they do tend to flatten down a lot of the reasons why they fell apart in the first place#it's not as simple as wwx joining the wens and jc being betrayed/left behind#give us development!! make wwx and jc work on their relationship!!#two brother who have to spend time getting to know each other again - getting to know the real people they are & not the image they have of#each other in their own minds - and working through their problems is so much more interesting than just wwx going yeah im sorry and jc#saying me too and now we're brothers again#or jc just stomping into cloud recesses and demanding to know why he wasnt invited to the wangxian wedding with no prior indication that#either of them wanted a reconciliation#just! use the complicated relationships tag for them! they deserve it!#invest the time to do character analysis and have them work through their miscommunications and issues and *then* be brothers again#AND STOP MAKING LWJ THE BAD GUY!!!#he is concerned and protective - he's not smothering or overprotective or getting in the way#he's behaving exactly as he should in that situation!!#the untamed#cql#idk if this post counts as long? for me it isnt but for you it could be#lemme know if i need to add a read more#also! this isnt me shitting on jc!! this is me saying hey look there are multiple povs in this story and this is lwj's!#i tried to be as objective as possible but the fact is that mdzs is about miscommunication so there's gonna be complicated relationships#and it's not a bad thing!!

JC Love Month 2020 Day 2
Power and Pride
Day 2 of JC Love Month brings some fluff where the kids (mostly JL) tell JC that they admire him a whole lot, and even WWX is not exempt from that. Thankfully, that admiration goes both way.
Jiang Cheng isn’t quite sure how he came to feel like an outsider in his own home, but it’s happening, and his otherwise empty table is probably playing a big part in it.
Especially compared to the cramped one, where Wei Wuxian and his gaggle of ducklings are seated.
It’s not often that Wei Wuxian brings them around after a night hunt, but they were close to Lotus Pier and Wei Wuxian at least knows that Jiang Cheng would skin him alive if he did a job in Jiang Cheng’s territory and then didn’t even have the good grace to drop by.
It’s just a bonus that he brought the kids with him, because Jiang Cheng would never admit it, but he missed Jin Ling. It’s not often that he gets to see him anymore, not with how he’s now Sect Leader himself, and it’s good to see that Jin Ling still takes the time to do something educational but at the same time gets to spend an night with his friends.
And it only stings the tiniest bit that Jin Ling didn’t come to visit Lotus Pier before, but Jiang Cheng pushes that thought far, far away. It’s important for Jin Ling to spend some time with people his age, and not just his family.
There’s an especially loud laugh from Wei Wuxian to something Lan Jingyi said and Jiang Cheng almost feels the urge to go over there and sit with them instead of a few tables further away, but he guesses he would ruin the mood.
He’s not pleasant company, he knows it, and he would hate to ruin the good mood of the kids. They deserve some time to celebrate after their successful night hunt.
So Jiang Cheng sits alone with his tea, and keeps half an ear on the rambunctious group. It has to be enough.
“So, let’s say,” Wei Wuxian’s voice carries over and Jiang Cheng might listen in a bit more closely at that, because he still remembers that tone of voice and it promises mischief.
“Let’s say what, Senior Wei?” Ouyang Zizhen asks, leaning expectantly over the table.
“Let’s say you’d have to choose the most powerful cultivator,” Wei Wuxian says, a laugh playing around his mouth. “Who would you choose?”
“Easy,” Lan Jingyi immediately says and Jiang Cheng has to hide his snort in his tea.
He would always bet his entire fortune on the loudmouthed Lan to be the first to answer a question.
“Zewu-Jun,” Lan Jingyi then says, full of conviction, though he only gets surprised glances at that.
“Why him?” Wei Wuxian wants to know, and Jiang Cheng is unsure if he has a higher goal in mind with this question or if he is just playing around with them.
“Because he’s ranked first, of course,” Lan Jingyi confidently says, and Jiang Cheng has to admit it’s solid reasoning.
Zewu-Jun is still ranked first, despite the fact that he went into seclusion, and the list is not only about looks. It’s also about the level of cultivation after all, so Lan Jingyi made the easy, obvious choice.
“But I don’t think he’s the most powerful,” Lan Sizhui carefully says, clearly trying to not offend his friend and while Jiang Cheng admires the effort, he thinks it’s entirely impossible to offend Lan Jingyi.
“Then who do you think, huh?” Lan Jingyi wants to know, clearly more curious than offended and Lan Sizhui shrugs.
“Hanguang-Jun,” he says, very predictably if you ask Jiang Cheng.
Not that anyone seems to be even thinking of Jiang Cheng.
“How come?” Wei Wuxian questions and then he gets that dreamy look on his face that Jiang Cheng learned to abhor so much. “I mean, you’re right of course, there is no one with more power in this world than my Lan Zhan, but explain it?”
“No one with more power over your already limited awareness, maybe,” Jin Ling mutters under his breath and Jiang Cheng almost chokes on his tea when Wei Wuxian lets out an enraged yell.
There’s chaos for a while at the other table, because it seems like the kids are entirely too comfortable to roast Wei Wuxian over his sickeningly sweet feelings for Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng is very content to stay out of that train wreck.
They do settle down eventually, and they even get back on track with the question.
“It should be kind of obvious,” Lan Sizhui says finally. “He is the Chief Cultivator after all, and that means he holds the most powerful position.”
It’s just as solid reasoning as Lan Jingyi’s pick had been but Ouyang Zizhen shakes his head.
“You all got it wrong,” he says and leans a little bit closer to them as if he’s going to tell them a secret. “The most powerful cultivator is of course the Ghost General!”
“He doesn’t even count!” Lan Jingyi cries out. “He’s a ferocious corpse, and not a cultivator anymore!”
“But you have to admit that he is more powerful than both of your picks,” Ouyang Zizhen says and Jiang Cheng forces to unclench his hand.
He is still repairing his relationship with Wei Wuxian, he gave up entirely on every reaching anything but polite distance with Lan Wangji, but he will probably forever have some animosity for Wen Ning.
In the very darkest hours of the night Jiang Cheng can admit that it’s unfair to hate Wen Ning like that, that he wasn’t wrong about what he said to Jiang Cheng during that cursed reveal of just whose golden core is inside of Jiang Cheng, but that is only in the dead of the night.
During the day, Jiang Cheng reserves the right to still be fucking mad at Wen Ning for accusing him like that when it was him, Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian who decided to go along with the medical procedure without even so much as asking Jiang Cheng about it.
It doesn’t change the fact that Wen Ning is a rather powerful being and Jiang Cheng would hate to have to go up against him if he’s really furious. Jiang Cheng is aware enough of his own strength to know that it would be a damn difficult fight; and he couldn’t even confidently say that he’d win.
“You all don’t know anything,” Jin Ling suddenly speaks up, and Jiang Cheng is moderately curious, he’s not going to lie about that.
Jin Ling doesn’t like Lan Wangji—Jiang Cheng is more than aware that it’s his fault—but he admires Zewu-Jun and he is starting to build something of a friendship with Wen Ning, so Jiang Cheng is honestly curious to hear who Jin Ling thinks of as the most powerful cultivator.
Not to mention that Wei Wuxian is sitting right there, and for all that Jiang Cheng wishes it would be different, he doubts that there is anyone who could match Wei Wuxian at his Yiling Patriarch high.
“Who is it then?” Lan Jingyi asks, chin stubbornly set and Jin Ling glares at him.
“The most powerful cultivator is of course my jiu-jiu,” Jin Ling says, absolute certainty in his voice and everyone goes very quiet as they dart glances at Jiang Cheng.
“Why do you think so?” Wei Wuxian asks yet again, but his voice is soft in a way that Jiang Cheng can hardly stand and he has half a mind just getting up and fleeing.
But then Jin Ling turns around to him and pins him with his look and Jiang Cheng stays right where he is.
He didn’t know his nephew had already perfected that glare.
“Because he survived,” Jin Ling says. “Because he lost his parents and his home, and then his siblings. He had a destroyed Sect and a tiny baby to look after and he did it,” Jin Ling says and Jiang Cheng can’t hold his gaze any longer, but Jin Ling mercilessly goes on.
“He rebuild his Sect; and not only that, but he made it the most powerful of the Great Four. He raised the kid, that wasn’t even his own, and all the while he still managed to get the respect of the people he leads.”
“Jin Ling, you are my pride and joy, but would you please shut the fuck up?” Jiang Cheng bites out, feeling just a little bit choked up, but no one is listening to him.
“And he did it all without his own golden core,” Wei Wuxian chimes in, voice still so horribly soft, “because he even survived losing it.”
“He did a decent job at raising the little mistress, too,” Lan Jingyi says and even though Jin Ling turns to glare at him, it’s clearly meant as very high praise.
“He doesn’t just have the respect of his people,” Lan Sizhui suddenly says and shrinks in on himself, just a little bit when Jiang Cheng starts to glare at him.
It’s still not enough to shut them all up, but Jiang Cheng has to try at least.
“They adore him; they love him so much, all of them, and it’s so easy to see, too.”
Jiang Cheng doesn’t think it’s easy to see at all, but Ouyang Zizhen speaks before Jiang Cheng can get a word in otherwise.
“Oh, yeah, did you see how they all practically light up when he walks through the market? And they all give him samples of their stuff for free, too, and not because they are afraid of him or they want to show off. They just genuinely want to show him their appreciation!”
“Ah, but that’s not a new thing,” Wei Wuxian says and smiles slightly. “People always fell over themselves to make Jiang Cheng smile.”
“That’s not true,” Jiang Cheng says, because he remembers the times he and Wei Wuxian went to the market.
The people fell all over themselves to please Wei Wuxian, not him.
“Don’t be stupid,” Jin Ling bites out, and Jiang Cheng is taken aback at how mad he suddenly seems. “Do you even know how often people ask me where you are when I go to the market alone? No one cares about me, they only want to see you. I bet it was the same with Wei Wuxian.”
“He’s right,” Wei Wuxian nods immediately. “I couldn’t take two steps without people crowding me in, asking where their favourite was.”
“Shut up!” Jiang Cheng gets out, though he’s aware that he’s blushing bright red.
He knows he has the respect of his people, but their love? He never dared to hope for that.
“So, yes. My jiu-jiu is the most powerful, because he survived all kinds of tragedies and still came out on top.”
“You’re right,” Lan Jingyi nods and then everyone is suddenly agreeing with Jin Ling.
Much to Jiang Cheng’s embarrassment.
“Shut up, all of you,” he snaps out, “you’re all wrong.”
“Get over here then, and tell us why,” Wei Wuxian very eagerly says and winks him over.
The kids make space for him immediately, and they are all looking expectantly at Jiang Cheng, too, so really. What else can he do but go over there and join them.
He refuses to think about the warm, fluttering feeling in his chest at the thought that he gets included in this.
“Tell us who you think is the most powerful,” Wei Wuxian says, excited like a little kid, and when he leans forward, Jiang Cheng pushes him away with a hand to his face.
“Hey,” Wei Wuxian protest, but the kids all laugh and even Jiang Cheng has to bite back a smile.
“If you think I’m going to name you, you’re mistaken,” he tells Wei Wuxian who gives him an almost devastating pout.
“But I was so powerful back in the day,” Wei Wuxian whines and Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes.
“And then you died, so really, how powerful can you be?” he wants to know. “And don’t even get me started on the fact that you made it back, because you had nothing to do with that! That was all Mo Xuanyu.”
Jiang Cheng is aware that the kids are staring at him and Wei Wuxian and it occurs to Jiang Cheng that they have never seen them banter like this.
Like they used to do before everything went to shit, and it gives Jiang Cheng hope that they can repair their relationship.
“But who else could it be?” Wei Wuxian whines as he slumps over the table and Jiang Cheng flips his forehead.
“Sect Leader Yao, of course,” Jiang Cheng says, smug as anything when he sees dropped jaws all around the table and then he laughs.
“No, no, you have to explain,” Jin Ling suddenly says and Jiang Cheng calms down just long enough to do so.
“Think about it. He’s mediocre at best but he’s still around. It’s been almost twenty years and he still aggravates everyone at the Cultivation Conferences. No one killed him yet and he still didn’t die. Clearly, he is more powerful than any of us.”
“That’s right,” Wei Wuxian gasps. “He survived the Sunshot Campaign, and I remember he was amongst those who called for my blood, too.”
“And then he survived all of Jin Guangyao’s scheming, and every fight that happened since,” Jiang Cheng adds and it’s only then that Jin Ling smacks his arm.
“Stop this, you hate Sect Leader Yao, you would never vote for him,” Jin Ling says and Jiang Cheng has half a mind to ruffle his hair.
“But I mean it!” Jiang Cheng says but now Wei Wuxian also caught on to the fact that he was just fucking with them, and he narrows his eyes at Jiang Cheng.
“No. Tell us the truth.”
“Fine,” Jiang Cheng says and rolls his eyes at him, mostly so that he doesn’t have to look when he says his next words. “I always thought that my brother was the most powerful,” he mutters and this time the silence that falls over the table is a very expectant one.
When Jiang Cheng finally does lift his gaze again, he sees that all of the kids are looking at Wei Wuxian instead of him, and so Jiang Cheng does the same.
“A-Cheng,” Wei Wuxian says and Jiang Cheng is startled to see tears in his eyes. “I love you, too,” Wei Wuxian cries out and then throws himself over the table to hug Jiang Cheng.
“Let go of me, you gremlin,” Jiang Cheng complaints, but he doesn’t push Wei Wuxian away as hard as he maybe could.
“I always thought my brother was the strongest, too,” Wei Wuxian then mutters and Jiang Cheng has to close his eyes against the sting of tears.
“Ah, fuck,” Jiang Cheng whispers.
“No swear words at the table,” Jin Ling says, clearly out of habit but also way too late, and Jiang Cheng is thankful for it, because it breaks the weird tension.
“There,” Ouyang Zizhen says with great satisfaction. “He did a very good job raising the little mistress.”
It sets off a new round of roughhousing, this time between the kids, mostly, and Jiang Cheng takes the break to compose himself again.
But when he catches Wei Wuxian’s still somewhat misty eyes over the table, he figures it’s not entirely necessary to be his usually grumpy self.
He can let loose a little bit, with his family around.

Idk what I'd give if someone writes this.
But I had this concept for the years about mingcheng. So like here it goes...
Anyways, so the fic goes like this: it's about 2 years after WWXs death and NMJ is SLOWLY getting affected by his qi deviation and is getting desperate in slowing down the symptoms and what not.
But then he meets up with JC (who cares where, could be a discussion conference or him visiting whtevs) and develops a HUGE crush. But JC doesn't realise it cuz he's really spread thin with leading yunmemg and raising Jin ling. So they interact a lot, with NMJ trying to support JC whilst he's still alive.
Eventually because JC is a masochist - he falls in love with NMJ and confesses, assuming that NMJ will friendzone him. Only for NMJ to admit his feelings as well. But it's bittersweet cuz NMJ is still dying from qi deviation (JGY is still a dick) so they rush their relationship. JC gets married to NMJ (this being NMJ favourite memory and JC favourite memory is NMJ interacting with JL) whilst NMJ is still stable and have many little moments together (like both of them teaching jin ling how to shoot and JC teaching NMJ how to use zidian because he trusts NMJ enough to not hurt others with zidian. )
Anyways NMJ eventually dies when Jin Ling is like 8 (and JL only has a few memories of NMJ which destroys JC) and JC & JHS grieve together. BUTTT JC didn't know the full story because NHS wanted to be the only one to get revenge for NMJs murder. So JC just thinks NMJ died because of qi deviation and slowly accepts it but never moves on because NMJ was his soulmate.
Fast forward to the plot, JGY is being confronted by WWX and the gang and JGY admits to killing NMJ and JC is destroyed. And he is Hella pissed, and tries to kill JGY buttttt doesn't because morals or whatever. LXC still kills JGY. But the twist is, that WWX doesn't know that mingcheng was a thing.
Shenanigans happen with WWX and NMJ and somehow WWX fixes him and makes him a fierce corpse... But the twist is that NMJ only remembers his life BEFORE having qi deviations. *Shock and disbelief ensures *
And since of the WWX and LWJ didn't know mingcheng happened, LXC being in seclusion and NHS feeling too guilty and bitter to be near NMJ. NMJ has no where to go and is having a lot of self-loothing because he is a fierce corpse, can't remember some of his later years and didn't figure out that JGY was killing him. But then NMJ stumbles into Lotus Pier...
NMJ meets up with JC and JC is shooketh. Buutttt then the whole memories erased thing becomes plot revelant and JC becomes insecure ..."If he everything else EXCEPT us, their relationship wasnt that important to him than it was to me...."
So JC keeps his distance from NMJ and lets him stay at lotus pier cuz he's a masochist. Only NMJ to get attach to JC and slowly fold back into JCs life. JC still loves him and this situation is slowly destroying him that JL notices. (Also NMJ knows he feels something to JC but doesn't know what it is, and is repressing it because of self-loothing)
Jin Ling has been prepping to become the Jin Sect leader whilst Lan qiren is his Regent cuz JC REFUSES for JL to lose his childhood like he did.
And Lan Qiren was bored and wanted to give WWX and LWJ some alone time idk. Anyways, JL is free and studying under Lan Qiren and JC on how to be a sect leader and one day whilst staying in lotus pier, he hears JC crying alone in his room. And gets super over-protective cuz "no one makes my favourite parent uncle cry."
And then JL bumps into NMJ and recognises him as jiujius husband from a painting or whatever. And realises that NMJ is the one making JC depressed. JL confront him, saying something on the lines of "that's yr soulmate buuuttttt you don't even recognise him because of yr self-loothing"
NMJ realises that he loves JC and those feelings he has been repressing were because of this.
That night NMJ confronts JC and emotions soarrrrrr. They realise that they are being stupid and get back together. And live out their days together.
*Some additions that isn't in the main plot,
*WWXs reaction to mingcheng like "wait JC lost his virginity BEFORE ME!! NOOO"
*Jin Ling and WWX being overprotective over JC
*JC being Lan Qirens favourite even though they're not related (pre-timeskip, they would have tea once a month because Lan Qiren used to have tea with JC's parents but not as regularly as they do. JC goes Lan Qiren for advice and Lan Qiren sees himself in JC)
*LXC reconciling with NMJ, (Im actually a fan of NMJ being a bit mad at LXC because LXC forced 3zun brotherhood) but both of them working out their issues
*NMJ and NHS interacting, NMJ understanding why NHS did it and didn't hold a grudge
BUT JC is angry with him because NHS didn't ask for help and didn't consider JCs feeling on the matter.
Eventually JC and NHS reconcile after NHS reveals his true nature to JC (like be more sly and intelligent in front of JC) and stops being the lazy headshaker. NHS is still sect leader because NMJ wants to live with JC and NHS wants to change the Niè sect. (Also NHS wants to become chief cultivator) (I just want NHS to be an evil mastermind, an ethical bastard with JCs support)
*maybe LXC and NHS romance, LXC being angry with NHS and being hostile with NHS (and then bring in the enemies to lovers trope)
*JC and WWX reconciling extremely quickly because JC now knows that time is precious and had forgiven WWX a long time ago (during when NMJ and him were first dating because he didn't want useless baggage to ruin mingcheng so he confessed EVERYTHING to NMJ and they moved past it)
*WWX being the strict uncle to JL, and JC, having more child rearing experiences, can handle a bratty teenager whilst WWX hates his past self for giving him karma
So yeah this is a prompt I've BEEN thinking about for a while and I don't want to write it sooooo

You are being a bit too hard on JYL. While she wasn't a perfect sister, she was also a victim to her parents dysfunctional relationship and she was only 2 years older than the boys. She was a poor cultivator and had a very weak constitution. She also had no political power despite her high birth. I'm pretty sure she never got any apologies for any of the slights against her character and on the pheonix mountain scene doesn't Jin Zixun storm off and then madam jin completely dismisses the situation as JYL being silly? Madam Jin loves JYL but I would say she doesn't respect her. JGS doesn't respect Madam Jin either so even if JYL went to her, nothing would be done. However JZXuan does invite WWX genuinely so I would say JYL was trying to improve WWX's situation as much as she could. As for not giving any financial support, she was completely dependent on JC and then the Jins, so I dont see how she could have helped there. Also I could totally see JC selling JYL to the Jins to appease JGS so she could be used as a political hostage against WWX.
Some points, in no particular order: First off, Madam Jin for sure respects JYL. Yeah, she dismisses JZXun insulting WWX (that’s important; he’s insulting WWX, a glorified servant, not JYL) because WWX is just a servant, but when JYL says that this isn’t a minor thing to her Madam Jin orders JZXun to apologise. To a servant. To appease JYL. That suggests the opposite of what you’re saying; it suggests that Madam Jin adores and respects JYL enough that she’ll force her family to lower themselves to the level of a man viewed by the Jins as a servant for her sake. And if she’s prepared to do that, maybe she could be convinced to do other things! Like... I don’t know, send servants to buy some food at market that can then be sent to Yiling? Or, alternately, JYL could ask the adoring husband who will give her anything she wants for money which she could then send to Yiling. And if she doesn’t trust anyone from Lanling (or Yunmeng; if she can ask JC to bring her to Yiling she can ask him to deliver some money) enough to think they could be persuaded to help her out with this, including the brother who she knows knows the Wens and WWX are innocent, then that raises a whole bunch of other questions about things like why the fuck she trusted anything the Jiangs and Jins said about WWX.
In fact, that’s kind of the issue here. Everything about her being dependant on JC and then the Jins raises an important question: if she, as she seems to, doesn’t doubt that JC and the Jins are being honest in their dealings with WWX... then why doesn’t she ask them to help him? Why doesn’t she even try? She goes to the Burial Mounds with JC and sees how badly things are going for WWX... and doesn’t feel the need to question whatever story JC gave her about what WWX was doing?
See, that’s the problem at the end of the day. It’s not about whether JYL could have done anything (although I’d say she could’ve done more than she did), it’s about whether or not she tried. Which... there’s no evidence she did. She brings WWX soup one time, but there’s no evidence that she tried to send him and his people actual supplies, or the means to acquire those supplies on their own. She convinces JZX to invite WWX to JL’s one month anniversary, but JZX is still assuming that WWX is the aggressor even though at least in CQL JYL knows for a fact he’s not and should have told him that. She shows up in her fucking wedding dress talking about her approaching marriage to the son of the man who’s in the process of ruining WWX’s life and there isn’t a single word that implies she’s at all unhappy with this situation; while I did say that JC could have forced her to marry JZX against her will there is no evidence that that was in fact the case and it looks more like he was just doing what she wanted him to. (Honestly the wedding dress thing in general is like... on the surface it’s a sweet gesture, and I’m sure that’s what she meant it as, but if you think about it her showing up in the dress WWX won’t be able to see her get married in to give him enough soup to keep a couple people fed for maybe a day when he’s got fifty starving civilians up that mountain and let him name the nephew he’s never going to get to meet and talk about her marriage into the family that’s currently running a massive smear campaign to get WWX killed and then leaving and as far as we see never trying to help him after that beyond wrangling him an invite to an event that clearly no one wants him at besides her is such a slap in the face whether that was intentional on her part or not that I’m surprised it doesn’t get talked about more.)
Look, JYL may be a woman in a patriarchal society and a weak cultivator, but it does not follow that she has no power. Or that no one respects her or is willing to apologise to her for slights against her, for that matter. She’s the sister of a sect leader. The wife of a sect heir. Even if she failed to actually achieve anything, the fact is that her lack of suspicion towards her family (by birth and marriage) and their actions in regards to WWX’s situation makes it pretty obvious to me that either she asked them to help or look further into the matter and didn’t feel the need to question why the only person willing to so much as make an attempt was her husband... or she didn’t ask at all. And the latter seems more likely, given how we see her react to conflict between her brothers; it’s “boys will be boys” and “they’re just teasing, they’re as bad as each other” all the way down, even when JC is threatening WWX with his literal worst fear or telling him that the children of servants will never amount to anything. JYL will defend WWX from outsiders, but the second he’s being targeted by JC she just decides everything’s fine. Maybe she really couldn’t have helped him! Maybe bringing him a bowl of soup and pretending everything was fine really was all she could do! But given there’s no mention either from her or from the narration itself that she so much as tried to do more... Well, it raises questions, and the fact that those questions are never brought up in this fandom means that I perhaps feel the need to be a little firmer on this point than I might be otherwise.

GENDERBENDS RANKED
NHS: 0/10, what's the point? Honestly his storyline is so grounded in rejecting his family's toxically masculine skillset and counting on uselessness to make him underestimated that I think it ruins the character.
NMJ: 100/10. BUTCH SWORD LESBIAN AND HER FEMME ART GAY BROTHER.
JYL: 6/10 the new improved Jiang Fengmian, now with 100% less abusive parenting. Maybe as a MALE character with high emotional and social intelligence he will be allowed to drive his own storyline.
JC: 9/10, collects more deadly accessories than her mother and probably started that fist fight with her fiance before Wei Wuxian got the chance.
WWX: 8/10. Troublemaking teen that looks like her hot mom accidentally makes half the young masters of her generation fall in love with her, only to be swept off her feet by the peerlessly beautiful ice queen who turns out to have been a hopeless lesbian the whole time.
LWJ: 8/10. See Wei Wuxian above.
WN & WQ: 7/10. Shy socially awkward girl dies and goes fucking feral. Tsundere boy medic who would literally kill himself for his baby sister. Flawless in concept
JZX: 4/10, interesting but I would not want any daughter of Jin Guangshan living under the same roof as him.
JGY: 3/10, more interesting than Huaisang but mostly in a way that makes me depressed
MXY: 6/10, also depressing but would give someone more qualified than me an interesting way to explore wwx's relationship with gender.
XY: 1/10, unhinged goth girls are great but the yandere jokes aren't worth it
LSZ: 9/10. Sizhui is already like twenty thousand wish fulfillment tropes anyway, just make her a full on YA heroine. Mad Scientist Wei Wuxian's beautiful daughter and Lost Princess of the Wen clan, the twin jades' lusterous pearl and apple of the Lan clan's eye.
LJY: 6/10, I'm always up for loud and disruptive women.
JL: 10/10 but only because I want to see her in a fancy outfit and one of those Chinese petal forehead decals.

minutemarch replied to your post “JC hate under the cut fghjkl[[MOR] But like BRUH I hate him so...”
THIS. I hate that every relationship is about him. I hate that everyone contantly has to prove themselves to him while he won't get out of his own way for them. I hate that he tortures people but is only talked about as a victim. I hate that he speaks to JL almost entirely in sneering threats. I hate that people think he still loves WWX when he poisons JL against him. (Who does this for someone they love?)  And was he going to stop torturing once he found WWX?  Make him a cake maybe?  I hate that he acts like a snotty 15 year old when he's in his 30s and raising a child and he still gets kudos for it.  Still expects to be respected as a sect leader.   His relationship with Yanli is the only one that doesn't suck and he still spits venom all over her son.                    I get liking a character despite their flaws but let's stop pretending he doesn't have any and/or he they're all on his parents.  Yes he had a had time but WHO DIDN'T? He's only mad at WWX because he felt let down by him and he couldn't do that because he'd been left to die by the Wens in the burial mounds and gave up his golden core like the "selfish git" he is.  Appreciaion for WWXs situation?  Zero.  Concern over how he'd be seen? High.  But WWX is the selfish one.
OMG thank you!
Also can I just
Yes he had a hard time but WHO DIDN'T?
A MOOD! Both for the show and real life.
But maN ok listen. Hard same to all of this, and GOD I hate his relationship with JL SO MUCH!!!!???!?!?! He’s treating him no better than his parents treated him, and like, I get it, breaking out of the cycle of abuse is hard yada yada but a) the fandom response is generally painting him like he did break out of it which ???? where do y’all see that maybe I’m missing something lmao and b) Wei Ying got beaten up and told he needs to die by their mother and somehow managed to not treat A-Yuan like that :))))) like he had his outburst/emotional moment(s) that made A-Yuan upset, like the lotus seed thing, but he never hit him or threatened him iirc, it was more “UGH what the hell I’m upsET and retreating >:(((” and when A-Yuan apologised he accepted it and explained that he’s just in a shitty mood and it’s ok. JC WOULD NEVER.
Instead he has all those lines of “I’m gonna beat your ass, you think I can’t I WILL AND I WILL BREAK YOUR LEGS” and idk man JL says he doesn’t do it but STILL it’s fucked up and maybe I’m hyper-sensitive here bc of my own background with an aggressive brother who beat my ass whenever but Boy i do not like this.
ALso lmao speaking of Yanli, can you IMAGINE her being around to see JC treat her son like that? Like I’m sure she’d try to be gentle and see it as joking at first when it’s the kinda banter he had with WWX or w/e and just go “Ahh A-cheng don’t be like that haha, don’t worry my child, he’s just joking :) …No really, bro, don’t be like that he is a child, not our dead brother STOP IT!” but once he’s going in for the breaking his legs? She’d break his nose before he finishes that sentence and I would pay to see that.
Also, I keep thinking about that moment when JC was all “you are the reason Yanli died and now I’m stuck in this situation!” like??? What you had a raise a child you are related to? the horror???? Why so sorry for yourself. “I lost my sister bc of you” ok I can get but ?????? (Might be mistranslation though dfghj)
Fucking TEA though goddddd I hate it. I hate that he never ONCE stopped for 4 seconds to ask himself “is wwx maybe NOT okay? Could he possibly have lied??!!?” like…yanli did. She was all “hey he says he cool but IS HE?” and asked LZ. Not JC though. You’d think after that many years in such a tight relationship of being bros you’d know when someone is not okay and lying about it but lmaoooo his ass too self-centred
He’s always more concerned about his own reputation than anything else. People talk shit about wwx? he never goes “Hey stop talking shit, you don’t know what’s happening, it’s OUR matter and I. AM. HANDLING IT!” which…would probably have given people something to consider impressive about him, but no. Instead he’s running around sulking that ~he can’t control WWX and it’s ruining things~ like just improvise, say “I’ll tell him later, we don’t need him right now, he’s got shit going on” nooo PLUS I keep thinking about his whole crush on Wen Qing and YET he ran into the burial mounds like “hey wwx come outta here and let her D I E” THe whole time I keep thinking, like…if WQ was a whole dumbass with no taste and had said “omg yes a comb??? Let’s get married!” would he… would he have stood up for her? Or would he still have said “you’re a Wen, sorry gotta die :) bye bitch” because at that point, he gave NO shits about her life. Yet he cried about being rejected lmao what even And ofc he wanted A-Ning to die, despite being saved by him and A-Ning risking everything and killing his own people for JC’s life, despite knowing how much A-Ning means to his own crush, nah, totally, is cool and reasonable
also hated the entire golden core-reveal reaction. Loved the Wen Ning. LOVED the WangXian. Hated that I had to look at JC ugly crying and whining “IT’S NOT TRUE”
Tumblr media
No hate at his actor, he seems cool enough but W O W that part was annoying lmao

I finished MDZS (and dropped The King. even if I watched the final episode, I wouldn’t understand it anyway, so why bother?), and I have to say, I wish the ending was a little more epic? Like, everything came together in a way that was very satisfying (NMJ’s complete corpse finally showing up was very neat), but it was weirdly intimate. Though in a way that’s appropriate, since ultimately the big bad JGY wasn’t driven by lust for power or anything grand, but just by anger at his (admittedly absolutely terrible) father, so for the focus of the last fight to be more on familial relationships (WWX/JC/JL, NMJ/NHS) than on a huge bloody battle does make sense. And to be fair they did the whole bloody battle thing already in the time leading up to WWX’s death. But it still did just feel a little bit too small (one detail that actually surprised me was that NHS was behind WWX’s resurrection, or probably was anyway. I love that WWX figures out that NHS has been pulling the strings for a while but can do nothing to prove it so just sort of leaves it. NHS definitely gets a gold star for scheming).
Maybe the problem I had was that because the ending is so centered on JGY, you never really feel like WWX and LWJ are in any danger at all, and the only real stake for them is defeating a bad guy whose reputation has already been ruined--the real emotional pull of the ending is really JGY and LXC, which is frankly not a relationship I was super-invested in. So it’s like the main emotional arc of WWX and LWJ is closed, and THEN we also have to handle JGY, and I guess I wanted those two elements to be more intertwined somehow.
Overall, though, I had a good time! I am excited to watch the drama (I’ll probably start it within the week? We’ll see, I have work I really have to do), especially since it seems like that gives more time to JC, a character I really wanted more of (the lack of closure between him and WWX at the end makes sense, but it still was disappointing). Also, I have to say it, the extra chapters at the end were maybe a bit much for me. I liked the ones that were just the boys at work hunting ghosts and stuff, but though I’m happy they have such a happy and fulfilling sex life, I personally do not think I needed to see that much of it! Yes, I’m an old prude. Though it is all almost worth it just for the knowledge that they are spending a lot of time at Cloud Recesses, and doing it constantly, and LQR definitely knows and just has to live with it.

MDZS ch.84
you people are beautiful. just, i love it when you comment my screams, but hurrying me to READ CH.84 BECAUSE YES, MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN HEARD, THE CHAPTER C A M E O U T WHILE I WAS SLEEPING, I’LL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN IN MY LIFE TY ERS
now that’s here, though, i’m less than ready for this and at the same time i’ve been dying to read it so- HeLp
Lan WangJi wrapped his right arm around Wei WuXian’s waist and took up Bichen. Mounting the sword, the two of them landed on the boat.
okay OKAY I’M WEAK FOR LWJ HOLDING WWX BY THE WAIST. LIKE, WEAK IN MY KNEES. IT’S THE BEST THING. THE ABSOLUTE BEST. LIKE HUSBAND AND HUSBAND, I MISS THEM BEING SO LOVEY DOVEY
EDIT:
Wei WuXian was just about to speak again when Jin Ling suddenly broke into tears.
[...] Even as tears streaked down his face, Jin Ling still shouted, sobbing, “This is my dad’s sword. I won’t put it down!”
EXCUSE ME WHAT??!?!?!?!?! MY SON IS CRYING?!?!??!!??! HoW dArE yOu Do ThIs To Us MxTx sdingfpwiorjgw okay but, how heartbreaking is it that he doesn’t want to drop that sword? i can totally picture why jin ling would be so frustrated and couldn’t hold back anymore, can you even image what kind of battle is going on inside of him? how much he misses his parents and wants to get revenge only to realise that killing wwx is not what he wants and probably feeling guilty about stabbing him and secretly looking up to him even if he knows he shouldn’t do that and wishing things were different WHY DOES HE HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS. WHY-
EDIT 2:
The one who called was Jiang Cheng, who stood near the edge. Still teary-eyed, as soon as Jin Ling saw his uncle, he immediately wiped his face, sniffing. He looked here and there and finally made up his mind to fly over, landing at Jiang Cheng’s side.
Jiang Cheng grabbed him, “What happened to you? Who did this to you?!”
(UNCLE JC TO THE RESCUE boy, does he care greatly for him. he is all he has left of his family *cough* jc-wwx-is-also-there-pls *cough* and i love this jc/jl moments, makes my heart really warm. i just wanna wwx in the picture, that’s all)
Jin Ling rubbed his eyes roughly, refusing to speak up. Jiang Cheng lifted his head, casting a nasty look at the fishing boat. His cold glare passed by Wen Ning, just about to land on Wei WuXian as Lan WangJi stepped out and blocked Wei WuXian’s silhouette, whether intentional or not.
(oèdkgoewigvp0wri LWJ STOP BEING PERFECT.
NO, WAIT, KEEP BEING PERFECT JUST WaRn Me-)
EDIT 3: disciples protecting wwx is-
okay, i know i always say this, but it’s so, so, so good to see these disciples taking up to them to defend him. i LOVE the relationship that mxtx built between them, full of trust and spontaneity and loyalty and feeling secure in each others’ presence, and i love that it came to be like this after many hardship and doubts. the disciples came to know wwx for who he really is, and finding out about his identity made them more alert, sure, but their affection is still there and it burns in scenes like these when they just argue against sect leaders and adults and protect him like that. it’s so important and beautiful and i want wwx warm and loved by all of them-
EDIT 4: SORRY I’M SO TALKATIVE TODAY, BUT THIS CHAPTER-
Sect Leader OuYang hurried, “ZiZhen! Come back, come over to Dad!”
OuYang ZiZhen was confused, “Dad, weren’t you the one who told me to get on this boat so that I didn’t annoy you guys?”
CAN I JUST SAY THAT I LOVE THIS SMART, SMART BOY?!?! BLESS YOU.
EDIT 5:
Seeing this, Wei WuXian let out a long sigh of relief. As soon as he relaxed, heavy exhaustion suddenly passed over his face. He fell to one side.
It seemed that he didn’t waver because he couldn’t balance himself on the boat, but rather because he really was so tired that he couldn’t stand steadily.
E X C U S E  M E ODSJGIOWJGIORJ OMG OMG MY LOVE IS SO TIRED HE FREAKING FAINTED. WWX FAINTED i can’t even- i need him somewhere safe with his husband and their sons, not on a bOaT.
EDIT 6:
However, without requiring their help at all, Lan WangJi bent down slightly. With one hand at his arm and another behind his knees, Lan WangJi picked Wei WuXian up at once.
(of course he would. of course. LOOK AT HIM CASUALLY PICKING UP HIS HUSBAND. lwj you are a star in the sky, the moon of my dark nights, you give me hope and joy and you’re so perfect and caring pls just marry wwx now)
Carrying Wei WuXian just like this, he walked into the cabin. Inside the cabin, there wasn’t anywhere to lie down, only four long benches. Thus, Lan WangJi held Wei WuXian’s waist with one arm, letting his head lean on his shoulder, and with his other hand he pieced together the four benches into a platform wide enough to lie on. He gently laid Wei WuXian on the benches.
(i- just- wwx needs to stay comfortable, so lwj provided a makeshift bed for him and my heart can’t take all this fluff without crying a bit. they are an example of love and beauty. THEY ARE ALL I WANNA READ ABOUT. I LIVE FOR THEIR HAPPINESS)
Lan SiZhui suddenly realized that even though HanGuang-Jun was drenched in blood, the bandage that Wei WuXian tore from his sleeve and wrapped around that tiny wound of his was still knotted properly, tied around a finger of his left hand.
(did lwj purposefully tried not to ruin the bandage during the fight? IS THAT WHAT YOU WANNA SUGGEST, MXTX?)
[...] Right now, Lan WangJi finally took out his handkerchief, slowly wiping away the blood clots on Wei WuXian’s face. Soon, the snowy handkerchief had been dyed with red and black. Although he’d finished wiping Wei WuXian’s face, he hadn’t wiped his own yet.
(omg. *sobs* one knows how much lwj loves and adores wwx but is always taken aback in front of the extent of that feeling)
EDIT 7:
Lan JingYi was amazed, “I thought that Senior Wei would never get tired!”
(don’t you feel extremely happy whenever jingyi appears? i do)
[...] However, Lan WangJi shook his head. He only said four words, “We are all human.”
They were all human. How could a human be tireless? How could they stand forever?
(there. four words and he gave them a life lesson. this-
is so importan. for anyone, even us irl, this is so true but- can you think about the fact that the upstanding, renowed lwj is talking by experience? can you imagine how broken he was when... sorry, i can’t-)
EDIT 8: dfmoiwjgiowr the disciples eye-talking with each other is GOLD-
Suddenly, Wei WuXian wrinkled his brows, his head tilting to the side. Softly, Lan WangJi moved his head back where it was, so that he wouldn’t end up with a stiff neck. Wei WuXian murmured, “Lan Zhan.”
Everyone thought that he was waking up. They were ecstatic, but Wei WuXian’s eyes were still tightly shut. Lan WangJi, on the other hand, looked just as usual, “Mn. I am here.”
Wei WuXian was quiet again. As though he felt safe, he shifted closer toward Lan WangJi and continued to sleep.
(òkdjasKLFDIPEJRGIWJROIGNERJGNEKLRJG I’M SORRY DID I READ THIS SCENE RIGHT IS WWX CALLING OUT LWJ’S NAME IN HIS  S L E E P  AND IS HE DE FACTO  S N U G G L I N G  CLOSER TO HIS HUSBAND WITH NO CARE IN THE WORLD SOIFOWIRHGIOERHJGIEROGF
OMG I AM SCRYING -yes, scrying, like, screaming and crying at the same time and i needed a new word for this- SO HARD I CAN BARELY TYPE THIS SHIT)
The boys stared at the two blankly. For some reason, their cheeks suddenly flushed. Lan SiZhui was the first to stand up, stammering, “H-HanGuang-Jun, we will go out and get some fresh air…”
(OH
MY
GOD
I AM LAUGHING SO HARD. THE BOYS GOT FLUSTERED BY PDA.
AND THEY ARE ALL ASKING EACH OTHER WHYAREYOUBLUSHING I CAN’T EVEN START TO TELL YOU HOW FUN AND CUTE THIS SCENE IS WHO KNEW I NEEDED THIS-)
EDIT 9:
Wen Ning, “Young Master Lan, may I call you A-Yuan?”
[...] Lan SiZhui replied gladly, “Sure!”
Wen Ning, “A-Yuan, have you been well these years?”
Lan SiZhui, “Very well.”
Wen Ning nodded, “HanGuang-Jun must’ve treated you kindly.”
Hearing him speak of Lan WangJi in such a respectful tone, Lan SiZhui felt even closer to him, “HanGuang-Jun treated me as if he were my brother or my father. He even taught me how to play the guqin.”
THIS CHAPTER IS A FREAKING ROLLER COASTER AND I AM FEELING A BIT DIZZY BECAUSE-
“a brother or a father” i can’t believe i’m alive to read this.
THIS IS SO TENDER AND WARM I’M JUST GONNA SNUGGLE NEXT TO THESE TWO
EDIT 10:
After some thought, Lan SiZhui responded, “I cannot remember either. It was probably when I was around four or five. I do not have many memories of the things that happened when I was younger, but when I was younger, I doubt HanGuang-Jun was able to take care of me. I think HanGuang-Jun had been in secluded meditation for many years back then.”
He suddenly remembered that when HanGuang-Jun was doing secluded meditation, the first siege on Burial Mound happened at the same time.
WAIT
W A I T
W  A  I  T
ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT DURING THE SIEGE LWJ WASN’T ON THE FIELD
ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPLY THAT-
OH MY GOD
OH MY GOD I NEED TO SIT DOWN AND TAKE A BREAK FROM THIS CHAPTER

Dear Yuletide Writer
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Happy end-of-the-year season! Thank you for writing for me!
This is my first time signing up for Yuletide, though I’ve been reading Yuletide fic for 14-15 years and it’s one of my favorite yearly traditions. Now I’m turning over a new leaf of active participation in my old age! I guarantee you I am much more worried about what I’m writing than what you’re writing—I’m pretty easy-going about the fic I read and I am going to try to help you out as best I can with this letter. If there’s something you’re unclear about, feel free to contact the mods or stalk me to find my preferences.
My AO3: saezutte
My public twitter: juncassis
My tumblr: here but I do not use tumblr much anymore, sorry.
Do Not Wants
[note: I have no actual triggers, nothing you can write for me will make me any more depressed or anxious than I already am]
Death (of major/important/beloved characters)
Suicide attempts
Rape
Angst without a happy ending, really too much angst at all
University/college settings
Established relationship
Cheating
Actual Unrequited Feelings
Pregnancy (the actual process; breeding kink is fine)
Scat or watersports
Hard BDSM or any kink complicated enough that the characters would have to discuss it ahead of time
Non-canon cisswapping or gender change (it’s ok if they do it in canon, e.g. HX/SQX)
Homophobia as a plot device
Excessive attention to sexual identity or queer politics
Note on AUs: I am ok with the usual popular AU tropes (except, see above, university settings) but I do not want them combined, e.g. A/B/O is fine and coffeeshop is fine, but I don’t want an omega barista getting his scent all over the lattes he makes for some alpha lawyer who comes in every morning. (Ridiculous example, but you get the point.) For AU/modern settings of fandoms with magic, I often like it when the magic is still there in the AU setting. I also like AUs which maintain the general outlines of the character’s relationships, like if the characters are childhood friends in canon, I like to keep that intact.
General preferences:
I am a pretty basic bitch when it comes to fanfic: I like it when two clueless boys pine for each other through some shenanigans and then lock eyes/lips/dicks.
If you fed a neural net every fanfic written in Stargate Atlantis fandom between 2005 and 2010, the result would probably be some nonsense I’d enjoy.
I love many tropes. Tropes! Bed-sharing. Sharing an umbrella. WASHING EACH OTHER’S HAIR? Confessions where they are having an argument and then one of them yells “Because I love you!”
I love situations where characters are forced to spend time in close proximity and find themselves with feelings.
I love fakeness: fake dating, fake marriage, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, fake lust induced by sex pollen or heats, aliens make them have sex, whatever.
I’d prefer story/romance/build-up to PWP but you are welcome to write porn
Tian Guan Ci Fu
Requested characters: He Xuan, Shi Qingxuan
Note: If you don’t want to write those two, I would be happy with Hualian! There are other pairings I like as well, like Fengqing. I requested these two because they are the ones I want the most, but I like almost all of the characters in TGCF so if you want to write me something that sells me on your pet pairing, go for it. Caveat is that I don’t like Qi Rong (sorry cousin)—he makes me anxious, haha.
Why I like the canon: Tian Guan Ci Fu is my favorite of MXTX’s novels, which took over my life this summer. What I love about it is the gods/mythology angle. The different story arcs remind me of reading myths about gods going out on adventures—I love folklore and myths! I love Xie Lian, I respect him so much, and I love Hua Cheng. I love how dark the story gets and I love that I could read it while being relatively assured of a happy ending. But with MXTX, you only ever get that happy ending for the main pair, hence why I requested my side pair.
Why I like these characters: I was in love with these two when He Xuan was pretending to be a grouchy Earth Master who reluctantly goes along with whatever Shi Qingxuan wants. When it turned out to be ABOUT REVENGE and they have FATES WHICH ARE ENTANGLED TOGETHER, I promptly lost my mind. I like the contrast in personalities.
I love Shi Qingxuan as a happy gossip god who is friends with everyone and yet also still pretty good at his job (unlike a lot of the gods around). I like his struggle with realizing he wasn’t meant to be a god and I honestly like where he ends up at the end of the novel—but personally I’d like it better if he re-qualified as a god, haha. I love his sex switching and you are welcome to play with that, though I would prefer if it weren’t a straightforward switch where he (she) settles as a woman. With He Xuan… I love that he’s on this dark completely-justified vengeance quest but he is also kind of a mess? How in debt is he to Hua Cheng? Has he totally neglected his ghostly duties to play Earth Master in heaven? How did he feel starting to be friends with SQX when he’s still planning on ruining his life?
What I would like for these two is something between pure fluff / all the issues are solved / “decapitated brother who?” and angst. I think they mirror Hualian in a lot of ways and I wish they had a chance together!
Prompts:
Them meeting again post-canon: He Xuan not knowing what to do with his (after)life now that he’s got his revenge and not being totally sure what’s keeping him around now that his business is over. SQX living his happy beggar life and HX not sure how he’s still so energetic.
A canon divergent AU where He Xuan doesn’t pull off his revenge plot ? Instead something else happens?
A soulmate AU would work well for these two IMO
Modern AU where HX is infiltrating the company that destroyed his family business and falls in love with the heir to the company president
SQX reascending to godhood as a beggar god and HX suspecting he will come for him in revenge but he just wants to be friends again
The Untamed (RPF)
Requested characters: Wang Yibo, Xiao Zhan
Why I like the canon: Uh, it took over my stupid life this summer. I haven’t liked an idol in years. I have frequently said I don’t like RPF because the canon is too diffuse to keep up with! And yet look at my twitter. I’m living in a hell of my own making.
Anyway, I got into the RPF side for The Untamed initially because the fictional canon here was very overloaded with its status as an adaptation of a novel where the characters are already together and where there aren’t many points for a writer to jump in and add to it. So I got more interested in the actors’ dynamic particularly because it’s different from Wangxian—WYB is a gremlin! Xiao Zhan is the serious professional one! And then I fell in love with them and now this is my life.
Why I like these characters: I just love their stupid handsome faces, I can’t help it. Don’t look at me. I am more of a Xiao Zhan fan but I want to be Wang Yibo’s best friend and bully him.
With Xiao Zhan, I love his smile and I love that he can write a whole essay on Wei Wuxian’s character and I love that he was a regular person who worked in an office before deciding to join one of wjjw’s basically-a-scam idol raising shows and then accidentally becoming the most famous man in China. He’s so professional and serious in interviews and it’s a great contrast to how we see him goofing around with WYB and the others on set.
With Wang Yibo, I like that he’s a wild boy who will run off to race motorcycles at any minute. I would like to shove him a little bit, in an affectionate manner. I love that he’s always looking at XZ and smiling and doesn’t seem to care if anyone notices.
Prompts:
Fooling around on set leads to love? The most basic of basic
AUs with different settings/meetings—maybe XZ is still a designer and his company ends up working with WYB (who is still an idol)? Or WYB is a pro motorcycle racer and XZ is a sports photographer?
They drift apart now but meet again in 10 years with Regrets
Porn star AU
Having to share a bed
WYB is scared of something! XZ comforts him!
Any dumb AU you want but I would like to veto ABO for this, it’s too weird for me when they’re real people.
The Untamed (TV)
Requested characters: Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian
Note: There are other CQL/MDZS pairings I like, namely Jiang Cheng/Nie Huaisang. I also like the junior trio (as OT3 or as various twosomes.) Also, one night I read a Jiang Cheng/Lan Sizhui fic and suddenly I got all these ideas for inappropriate uncle pairings JC/LSZ and LXC/JL. If any of that speaks to your heart instead, go wild.
Why I like the canon: So obviously I read the novel and plunged into this MXTX abyss for 100 years. With this adaptation, there are a few things I don’t like versus the novel but I’m happy to ignore them because I love what they did with the visuals and music and the acting choices. Some of the changes I also do love—I love how WWX seems to be so much more into LWJ from the beginning! I love seeing them goof around, I love drunk!WYB in the drama.
I also don’t like established relationship fic for the most part, so the censorship in this adaptation means I have more to play with in fanfic!
Why I like the characters: They invented love!!! They did. I particularly like them both as kind of messes… It’s easy to forget with how great Hanguang-jun is but he’s also bad at expressing himself and it gets him into trouble. Then you have WWX the deviant genius troublemaker with a heart of gold (even when he doesn’t have his golden core). They’re immature kids who can’t figure their shit out before things get serious and then 16 years later, they are emotionally stunted 30-somethings and (tbh) I feel that. These two are meant for each other and meant to wander the country following the chaos and getting into adventures together while fucking a lot.
Prompts:
How do Wangxian get together in this universe? Was it as teens? During the war? Did they split up? Did LWJ give in to temptation earlier than in the novel? When did WWX realize his feelings?
Fix-it for the ending where they separate!! Duh! Does anyone think them being apart is going to last?
Star Trek AU with the Lans as Vulcans
Uh, I really like A/B/O fic for these two.
MAGIC SEX CURSES. Fuck or die! Sex pollen! Particularly if they’re not a couple yet and this leads to awkwardness and getting together.
Nirvana in Fire (TV)
Requested characters: Mei Changsu, Xiao Jingyan
Note: I also love Lin Chen so if you want to write some MCS/LC or LC/Fei Liu or LC/MCS/JINGYAN OT3??? go for it. I am also a Nihuang/Xia Dong shipper so if you want to put that in… somehow… my gay little heart would be happy. I also like Nihuang/MCS/XJY or MNH/MCS + MCS/XJY but I’d like the focus on the men in that case!
Why I like the canon: I watched this show because someone recommended this show to me as, like, Chinese Game of Thrones but good. I think it’s genuinely one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. I love plots and revenge and good people doing bad things for justice. Even the ending is good for me though obviously it left me unsatisfied on several points.
Why I like the characters: I am deeply into sickly doomed genius MCS and every time he got even more deeply ill, I fell deeper in love. Every time he coughs up blood, my heart would race. I love his terrible schemes and stupid self-sacrificing choices. I find watching this show very soothing because I knew he would always come out on top in his schemes. I trust him. I love handsome clueless Jingyan and how he’s just so good (it’s terrible.) I love his mom and how much he cares for her. I love him but he is useless, he needs his Xiao Shu and I need fanfic to restore him to him.
Note: So my limited research on this says that male/male sex practices were accepted and well-known in this time period in history, so I really don’t want them thinking “oh no what are these weird gay feelings.” There are other barriers to them being together, like a ruler or official being overly attached to one person was considered very bad. I am also a big supporter of the socially-approved polygamy of this time period, so I don’t need Jingyan to refuse to sleep with his wife or something out of loyalty to MCS—he has to do it! Or all their plans are ruined! And he can enjoy spending time with her or the concubines without affecting his feelings for MCS—you could explore that complexity in fic if you like.
Prompts:
Mei Changsu isn’t dead, he’s hiding again, Jingyan searches for him
They start having sex during the series, the ending is averted [somehow]
Post-canon, MCS is alive and Jingyan hides him in the palace with his consort/concubines to keep him on as an advisor without anyone objecting
AU where male/male marriage is customary (maybe aristocratic men are expected to have one male and one female consort?) and so MCS decides the best way to influence and help Jingyan in the capital is by becoming his wife or one of his concubines
anything just get them together and happy.
Promare
Requested characters: Galo, Lio
Why I like the canon: I love this film but I also find it to be… not enough? I wanted more character development, I wanted more plot, I wanted the goddamn Burnish to stay burning things. So I requested it because I want more! Please help me.
Why I like the characters: I love freedom fighter idealist Lio who will kick everyone’s ass for what is right. I love idiot idealist Galo who wants to fight all fires and learns to love exactly one fire. I think now that they aren’t saving the world by punching global warming, they should have a nice romance. I also like they points where they clash in the film, so I’d love to see them adjusting to “normal life” and having to deal with not having the crisis to make sure they get along.
Prompts:
Galo and Lio rebuilding the world together
Lio regaining Burnish powers?
AU where the Burnish are still a thing but it’s not a big crisis/battle and they just have normal jobs and there are integration programs and Lio is an angry Burnish teen and Galo volunteers at a community center helping Burnish control their powers. Like a world that’s more everyday X-Men than X-men in full adventure war mode.
This is the one request where I’d probably enjoy gen fic with lots of worldbuilding.
I would also enjoy lots of horny porn, preference for Galo topping with his giant stupid dick? I’m sorry I’m like this.
I do want to note ahead of time that I might be traveling (as in, possibly literally on a plane) when fics go live, so please do not be upset if I do not comment on the fic right away! But I definitely will! I know this can be a sore spot for authors so I wanted to give some warning.
I think that is all! Thank you very much and I’ll see you at the end of all this.

Note
**AU where LWJ and WWX start dating early on and continue even after the cultivation world turns against WWX. LWJ and WWX are exchanging letters fairly often. LWJ confides in LXC about his worries of demonic cultivation on his love. LXC thinks that his brother is making a huge mistake by continuing his relationship with public enemy #1. Because of his dislike towards WWX, JGY is able to easily convince LXC that once they uncover WWX's and the Wen's wrongdoings LWJ will lose his "puppy love" (1)
*** So LXC intercepts one of LWJ's letters where WY requested to meet somewhere before JL's one month celebration. The plan was that LXC would meet WWX and distract him while JGY goes to the burial mounds to find evidence of his crimes (which is ofc a lie). He can't stay calm for long and basically just goes in that WWX is ruining his brother's life. By the time WWX returns, the burial mounds are completely destroyed, everyone is killed, and WN + WQ were taken for the same fate as in canon (2)
*** WWX is ambushed by all the sects (minus the jiangs) when he arrives so he can be taken prisoner. In his grief, he uses the Stygian Tiger Seal, taking out a huge number of cultivators there, but loses control and gets ripped apart. He dies while thinking that the man he loved since they were 15 betrayed him. This was NOT LXC intention but JGY said that the Wen's were a dangerous militia that had to be taken down. Gusu Lan gets credited as the main sect to take down the evil YLP (3)
*** Maybe to add EXTRA angst people mistake LXC as LWJ since they look pretty similar so LWJ gets congratulated for leading the siege against WWX. JC and JYL absolutely despise LWJ because they think that he killed their brother despite their years long relationship (maybe LWJ already told the Jiangs his plan to marry WWX). LWJ goes to the burial mounds, finds A'Yuan, and when he returns he eventually finds the letter where WWX asked to meet him in LXC's room or something. (4)
*** To add extra, extra angst the thing that WWX needed to tell LWJ was that he was pregnant with their kid and LWJ finds out when he goes to the remnants of burial mounds. Cue a MASSIVE fallout between the 2 brothers wherein LXC thought he was truly acting in his little bro's best interest while LWJ has to deal with the fact that someone he loved and trusted for years caused the death of his soon to be husband and their unborn child. LXC realizes that this while thing went too far but... (5)
***...He still doesn't think he made a mistake since the Jin's are sticking with the idea that WWX was harboring a small army + was eventually gonna lead to his brother's downfall. He completely cuts off LXC and makes sure that he has no contact with his son. LWJ wants A'Yuan to have the best life possible so they stay in Cloud Recess but he becomes obsessed with clearing WWX's name. Soon the truth comes out leading to LXC being super regretful but his relationship with LWJ has no chance... (6)
***...of ever recovering. At best, they will probably just be like strangers. LWJ still gets praises about defeating the YLP and gets constant reminders of what his brother's actions. When WWX is resurrected years later, he and LWJ eventually get their happy ending though :) (7/end)
