Can you even imagine a ship between these two. Whitney and Kylar would absolutely drive eachother insane
Black and white sketch under the cut
Tumblr media
This would be most likely the most abusive, most manipulative pair dynamic I've ever seen. The thought randomly went through my mind and i decided to sketch it, but i do not ship them myself.

sunnflower content + rant 🌻
first of all, ao3 !! i really just wanted some good, nontoxic sunflower fanfiction because both sunny & basil deserve to be happy after the shit they've gone through! also, i wanted to feel better because BASIL IS CLEARLY HEAD OVER HEELS FOR SUNNY AND HE DOESNT KNOW IT (video by nerdy arty) hdjvhdjvhdn he JUST LIKE ME FR!!
ive categorized them by AU / canoncompliant with additional tags! completed fics are marked with 🌻, long fics (5k+ words) are marked with 💡
canon compliant:
Culinary Conversations by ShardOfHope💡
A Mug of Sundrops in a Wave of Sadness by karma_kalanchoe💡
The First Day of the Rest of Your Life by smiles2m
Suddenly, Sunny by diagnosed_shitposter
Bloom Later by witheredahlia💡
Catch a Glimmer of Your Star by UdonPuddle 🌻💡
au / mari lives:
Secondhand Sequitir by Soppypup💡🌻
He's Impossible by HowardR💡
to bask in your warmth by im_clo💡🌻
Flower Language by mirror_to_the_past💡
hmestwbf by ME (yes yours truly)
next up is yt animatics because uhhh idk i really like watching homo idiots!! i have 🕹️ that indicates the video depicts some omori plot involving spoilers for the game (the accident, angst, etc) or covers the entire game happening.
OMORI MV - Eine Kleine by Bear🕹️
Try Again by eggsoupery🕹️
OMORI MV - Love Me by white_tulips_
Nonsense Speaker by Nerdy Arty🕹️
in defense of sunflower: (major omori spoilers here cw!!)
why are people antagonizing them this badly? seriously i don't get it. they were children when the accident happened and gameplay shows that both of them got shittons of trauma
"what the hell were you guys thinking when you decided to ship two mentally unstable teenagers that participated in the same manslaughter??"
it was an accident. looking at the incident, i firmly believe it was very seriously fucked up, and they weren't in the right state of mind when it happened. consider the situation, the person you love most in the world is gone forever. in this situation, sunny completely closes in on himself and creates headspace. basil on the other hand sees sunny (his childhood best friend and the one he describes as 'perfect' and puts on a pedestal) completely having a mental breakdown. basil panics, not knowing what to do, because both of the people he idolize is gone - mari is dead, a part of sunny died with her. obviously he has a mental breakdown figuring out what to do, too?
obviously we should also consider basil's mental state at this point - pure speculation here, but basil, due to his feminine gender expression, would have been a victim of bullying, and the gang would have been his first friends. and basil photographs things he cherishes. that would mean he sees himself losing his friends when mari dies because sunny is most likely gonna be legally convicted of manslaughter right? in his disoriented, panicked mind, he wanted to protect sunny, the friend he most likely did have feelings for but was unable to admit them due to already being bullied, (that's just my hc dw) and did something that is super fucked up — he did more harm than good, but i believe he was just trying to fix everything back the way it was. we're absolutely going to talk about why Basil knows how to tie a noose, which adds to my point — basil might already have been mentally unwell (no doubt taking more shit from life than one is supposed to) BEFORE he met his friends, and he was desperately trying to salvage what little happiness he had left.
i cannot deny that sunnflower has full potential of being a very unhealthy and toxic relationship, but i might add that the true + secret ending has both Somethings disappear, implying that both of them are capable of healing. thats why i ship them manyyearsafter-canon or AU, bc therapy can fix shit ive seen it myself
ill end this little rant by a comment from j0kerclash on reddit:
Pairing them together is the implication that they are able to completely heal from their trauma, the actual dynamics of their relationship isn't toxic, it was the circumstances of their interactions combined with the context of the event itself. Sunny and Basil aren't permanently fucked up, I'd say it's quite harmful to imply that people are forever broken and can never truly recover. Considering the choices in the game are about confronting, accepting, and moving on from guilt and trauma, the best scenario for both Sunny and Basil, is if they were truly able to let go and not become triggers for each other, which is illustrated by them being unaffected by the potential toxicity of their past.
sorry for the rant! here are some links also defending the ship
if you enjoyed, i also have another sunflower headcannon post
from diagnosed_shitposter
idfk how to link the original text im sorry

Antis DNI - Block the tag "comship" if this causes discomfort.
Remember, you are voting for the ship you prefer, not the ship you find more problematic
Propaganda for both ships under the cut.
Disclaimer: All ships (other than NozoCoco) on this bracket are FOLLOWER-SUBMITTED ships, the Mods do not always hold necessary knowledge to be aware of any errors or fanonizing what should be canon material that may arise.
Jimthan Propaganda (One-sided Toxic Dynamic, Underage - Both Jimmy and Nathan are children)
"Jimmy and Nathan have an adorably onesided dynamic where it's never entirely clear if Jimmy is fully aware just how much Nathan hates his guts. Fueled partly by their different feelings on summer camp, Nathan has tried to get Jimmy killed multiple times, almost always ending in his own misfortune as a result. Much like a classic Looney Toons pair, Jimmy's insistence on fair play and good sportsmanship somehow always wins against Nathan's schemes. Even after encountering a situation where it is Severely, OBJECTIVELY clear that Nathan is just a straight up evil person who wants him and everyone else involved in the camp Dead, Jimmy seems to openly consider him a friend who he's glad to see every summer. This doesn't mean he never fucks with him, but Jimmy's attitude being so chill and friendly makes a wonderful contrast against Nathan's seething hatered. They also seem to be on mildly reasonable terms at school, partly because whenever Nathan has to directly interact with him, he feigns friendship, making the whole dynamic that much more complex. Please let my disabled babies win against the conventionally attractive anime people, i mean no disdain for the other ships i just think that would be really cool!!"
Stannarrator Propaganda (Codependency, Toxic Power Dynamics - In most endings)
"The Stanley Parable is a game about The Narrator wanting to tell a story through their game but having to rely on the Stanley's choices. The core of the game is that Stanley and The Narrator are bound to each other: Stanley needs The Narrator to make the "parable" he lives in, and The Narrator needs Stanley to make the choices that drive the story.
The Narrator clearly has the most power in this dynamic, since he can alter the world the Stanley lives in: modifying the rooms, creating and deleting objects at will, reloading the game, altering Stanley's perception, knowing almost everything and being almost everywhere. But, despite all that power, he isn't able to control the one thing that keeps his story existing: Stanley's choices.
Okay, spoilers to both the original 2013 game and the Ultra Deluxe remake from here on out since it's impossible to talk about them without spoiling a lot of the endings.
In one of the new endings on the Ultra Deluxe remake, the Skip Button ending, The Narrator creates a button that lets Stanley skip his dialogue `inspired` by a bad Steam review, but when Stanley clicks this button The Narrator is left all alone in that room, and which each click the skip becomes longer, from minutes, to hours, to weeks, to months… And in the fifth skip (where Stanley stays frozen for like, one, two weeks), The Narrator breaks up, talking about how he needs Stanley to listen to him and how scared he is of slipping back into the silence he passes through every time we use the skip button. In his own words, `I can't lose myself in the stretch of emptiness between you and me.` Of course, since it's the only way to advance in this ending, we skip again, and again, until The Narrator ends up eventually disappearing after the 12th or 13th skip, leaving Stanley alone in a desert, and that's where the ending stops, though it continues on the Epilogue, but I'll leave some things to add as propaganda during the polls.
Despite this, The Narrator still has more control of the situation than Stanley, like on the Explosion ending, where he traps Stanley in a room while the building's destroys itself as consequence for choosing to activate the Mind Control Machine instead of shutting it down to free everyone. He keeps acting like Stanley is nothing but a vehicle for him to pass a message through his story. `Watching you try to make sense of everything and take back the control wrested away from you…it's quite rich. I almost hate to see it go!` `You're only still playing instead of watching a cutscene because I want to watch you for every moment that you're powerless, to see you made humble. […] You wanted to control this world; that's fine. But I'm going to destroy it first, so you can't.`
But there's one point where they're equal, they both want to free themselves. On the Museum ending, we meet a being that is higher than The Narrator, the Female Narrator (yeah, that's her name), and she gives the best description of the relationship between these two: `Oh, look at these two. How they wish to destroy one another. How they wish to control one another. How they both wish to be free. Can you see? Can you see how much they need one another? No, perhaps not. Sometimes these things cannot be seen.`"

I have no problem with dead roach fics, but for the love of GOD be original with his death and have it actually mean something, most of the time fics are “that’s one less loose end” esque and just have Ghost survive bc reasons, or his death doesn’t actually contribute to the story long term, like it impacts the first 3 chapters and then dissapears
Activision come on, bring our big boy, GIVE US SOME FOOD
I have many problems with dead Roach fics, but my two biggest one are:
1. They are almost always tagged wrong.
If Roach is dead the entire fic and only mentioned or in like a brief flashback, he should not be tagged as a character. I'm sorry, but if he's dead, he isn't a character in your fic! He's not there! Tagging him as a character just means that you're clogging up his tag with fics that don't actually have him in them!
A lot of authors also tag their dead Roach fics with GhostRoach when, again, Roach is dead! There is not going to be any GhostRoach outside of like mentioning it. The ship should not be tagged! If I'm in the GhostRoach tag, I'm there to read GhostRoach, not stupid SoapGhost bullshit that kills my favorite character and uses his death as a shitty plot device. Don't tag GhostRoach if the fic isn't about them!!
2. A vast majority of dead Roach fics use him just to create drama in the SoapGhost relationship.
His death serves no meaning beyond being an obstacle to GhostSoap. They treat Roach like a villain who is somehow at fault for Soap dating a man who is very clearly still grieving and Ghost dating despite the fact that he clearly isn't ready. Its stupid, the relationship is never healthy, and Roach is always somehow a bad guy for being dead!
The people who write these clearly don't give a shit about Roach and only want to use him to create drama rather than just making an oc or some shit. And these are the same mfers who will claim that Roach is one of their favs, the fucking bullshit he is. Its frustrating and its only made more prevalent by the first point!! THEY KEEP PUTTING IT IN THE WRONG TAGS!!
Ignoring all the other shit that I think is stupid about the trope such as Ghost somehow being alive despite a loose ends situation happening (yeah, sure, cause Ghost who was shot in the neck and fucking killed instantly would have survived instead of Roach who was alive at least long enough to see the fire burning AND to attempt to stop Shepherd from getting the DSM. All after being blown up AND shot. Sure, Ghost would have survived but not Roach) or the absolute damage that it does to the characterization of characters like Soap and the relationship that Soap had with Roach in the OG games or the absolute unoriginality of it or the fact that tagging the fic GhostRoach seems like a passive aggressive way to shit on the ship or the fact that these people somehow write the most toxic shit known to man then call it romance or the way that the rope has been so overdone its fucking burnt (if one of you tags some joke about Ghost and Roach?? Its a block /j)
Ignoring all that other shit plus some, my biggest problem with the trope is the improper tagging. Because it wouldn't be a big deal to me if I never had to see it because people would tag their fics correctly. But people never do, so I have to see their shitty dead Roach fics, so I will continue to complain about their shitty dead Roach fics.
BTW this is no hate to anything you said, I also agree with what you said I just wanted to use your ask to rant because I like to rant and I like to shit on this trope and its been a while since I've gotten to do either.
Now, as usual:
Activision bring Roach back, GhostRoachSoap best ship, fuck the dead Roach trope I hope it fucking burns, and Roach I'm your biggest fan

Vriska & Terezi
[Plain Text: Vriska & Terezi]
When I first got into homestuck at 15 I was filled with so much hatred towards Vriska and this ship. People genuinely saying Vriska was without flaw and this relationship was healthy goals just infuriated us for some reason. Like we love flawed characters and awful fictional relationships because they are interesting to read! However, just at least back then, I could never find people who actually portrayed them with their flaws. They always just sanded them off.
However, now adays, it's just mildy annoying, and I can enjoy this fuckery. Both of these characters are flawed, and their relationship actively harms both of them, and that's interesting! It's tragic, it's fun, it's awful and beautiful! These girls ruin their own lives, each other's lives, and the lives of those around them in a horrid dance.
Terezi is entirely codependent on Vriska, even after her friends are hurt and killed and she is blinded by Vriska she hesitates at stopping her from causing more harm. Terezi is alone in a forest without a real lusus and I'd bet money Vriska was her first friend and first person to show interest in her so the idea of losing her is devastating. Even after all the things she does in game playing a part in the end of everything because Vriska wanted to be the hero and still spending the rest of her life looking for her. She seems incapable of getting as close with others as she is with Vriska. Mild friendships with bullying and games but never talking deeper and getting into a different toxic relationship with Gamzee.
Vriska. Where do you start. She was raised by one of the worst lusus, if not the worst. (Feferi's sucks but seemed to not give a shit as long as she was fed) Vriska, I'm sure since she exited grub form, he was forced to kill other children to feed her lusus. Befriended someone who idolized her, some asshole fish, some cute boy she was convinced was going to die without her help. She both thinks she is the most important person in the world and the worst if she is not constantly proving how cool she is. Kids with good self-esteem don't create a villain to kill to become the hero. She knows all her friends hate her or are angry with her, and this was a chance to change that. Even then, when she did become better, it was in a gross relationship with Meenah and then abandoned when she wasn't fun anymore.
These two kids are so incredibly fucked from start til finish. They never really get better or have an end to their story. Vriska is never seen again and never gets her starlight and praise that she worked so hard to get, and Terezi keeps looking for her when she might not even be out there anymore unintentionally ignoring all of her friends that are back on earth. They don't get their happy ending.
I would love for them to, though. My favorite ship flavor is probably moirails for them. For them to have each others back and work towards happiness and healing together and getting their chaos out in constructive ways that doesn't get them or the people they care about hurt. Feelings jams where they don't feel the need to impress each other anymore. No more trying to seem perfect and cool just talking about how fucked up everything was and how they're hurt each other without the fear the other would call them a loser anymore. They have such potential for hurt/comfort and a moirail slowburn just imagine it with me for just a moment.
I want them to have fun and I don't want them to change completely I just want them to heal and learn how to be a version of themselves that they can be happy with and doesn't get them justly killed. Is that too much to ask for?

Finally get to post more of my art here and more will come! anyways here’s a world map called Elementia! a world home to Elementals, this is where my oc character name Kobalt lives!
Planet Name: Elementia
Size: Super Earth
Number of Moons: Two
Core: Elementia’s core is unstable and causes volcanic eruptions all over the world, luckily the Fire Crystal and lava elementals keep Elementias core stable
🌀Elemental Lands🌀
🎆 Arcania: one of the most magical land of Elementia, the land here is breathtaking with giant crystals, friendly fauna species, and strange exotic flora. the towns and Kingdom have everything like potions, spell books, wands, pets, magical silk clothing and many more! the land is home to warriors called the Shade Hunters who's job is to hunt and kill shades and protect Elementia from danger.
🌋 Volcania: a scorching hot land of active volcanoes, lava lakes, ash fall, and fiery faunas! it is also home to gigantic fire breathing dragons roaming the volcanic land! what's strange is that the plants not only need water but needs lava to grow!
🏜️ Gusano Desert: a dry desert land with searing hot temperatures it may look empty and dull but it has beautiful rock formations like deep canyons, tall mesas, and shifting sand dunes. if you want to visit the desert towns or cities make sure your well prepared and bring plenty of water. Warning! this land is home to giant sandworms that will eat you alive! so be careful and stay safe!
🌊 Thalassa Ocean: a mysterious underwater world timing with aquatic life, colorful reefs, amazing underwater cities, and hidden treasures scattered around the sea floor. it may look peaceful yet the ocean of Elementia is dangerous and home to large leviathans that swim around the deep oceans and can capsized ships and devour sailors! also watch out for pirates!
🌪️ Windshear Mountains: a land of tall mountains, strong winds, and scattered skylands. many come here to mountain climb or visit towns on top of mountains or skylands. just like Arcania the land here is home to the fiercest warriors called the Wind Warriors who's job is to create life on uninhabitable planets and fight of shade attacks.
⚡️Thunderia: a land battered in everlasting thunderstorms and is to dangerous to live, yet Thunderquills(Lightning Elementals) find this place home where they build futuristic cities and technology. the land here also creates energy crystals that have enough energy to power an entire city or used in vehicles and technology.
❄️ North Polaris: a winter wonderland of fresh powdered snow, snow-covered conifers, and aurora borealis dancing in the night sky. many elementals come here to have fun and play winter games or take a relaxing vacation and drink some of the finest hot coco of Elementia. not to mention the Iceclaws(Ice Elementals) make the best frozen treats like ice cream, popsicles, slushies, and more!
❄️ South Polaris: the opposite of North Polaris, the land here is harsh and freezing cold, living in this frigid land will be very hard unless you have the right equipment and plenty of food to survive.
🍃 Viridian Wilds: a lush green land of forests, jungles, taigas, gardens, exotic faunas and more! plus it is one of the most highly diverse ecosystems of Elementia, Warning! cutting down trees will cause Tree Crawlers(Nature Elementals) to get angry and hunt you down! always ask permission before cutting down trees.
⚙️ Metallurgy Badlands: a metallic barren land where small volcanoes spew molten hot metals, a perfect place for miners to mine up rare metals and craft them into weapons, armor, jewelry, and more!
☢️ Toxic Bayou: probably one of the most toxic land of Elementia! the land here is very dangerous with acidic waters, poisonous plants, toxic fumaroles and venomous faunas that can kill you in seconds. but before you enter this toxic land always bring protection and plenty of antidotes.
☀️ Solaris: a warm sunny land and calm weather Solaris is a tranquil land where ancient and a perfect place for farmers to grow their crops or have a nice picnic. there are also ancient marble buildings from millions of years ago scattered everywhere.
🌌 Nycto Caverns: in the center of the island is a gigantic sinkhole that is an entrance to Nycto Caverns, a dark scary cave where blind creatures and giant bugs roam around some friendly and some not. not to mention different kinds of fungus grow inside the caverns. Warning! the deeper you go the more dark and dangerous the cavern gets, always bring weapons and protection!
💀 Dragon Graveyard: one of the most terrifying and scary land of Elementia where ancient dragon bones are scattered everywhere, dangerous fauna species and spirits haunt the land. there are many legends of why the land looks like that, some say this used to be normal land of lush flora and crystal clear waters until the land has been cursed, while some say this is a resting place where old dragons go in peace yet no one really knows.

What Anti-Amy petition if you don’t mind me asking?
this bullshit
https://www.change.org/p/antiamy
this is so fucking funny because:
1) op's first mistake was thinking a change.org petition would do anything
2) op was a grown ass woman with a hate boner for a fictional pink hedgehog all because she got in the way of a ship
3) something that stood out is that op said amy was a "bad role model for children" because she "promotes violence" with her hammer. like THE ENTIRE SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG GAME EXISTS??? so a hedgehog holding a gun doesn't promote violence but the funny pink hedgehog with the hammer does. got it
4) op has made it obvious that she hates amy because she's a sally/sonally stan but she tries to hide it by pretending to have some kond of moral high ground and saying "oh, amy's a bad role model for children" but it makes her a hypocrite. by that logic mario is a bad role model for children because he encourages them to stomp on turtles.
5) she says amy should be replaced by characters like sally, blaze, and rouge. but these characters come AFTER amy, who was supposed to be the lead female of the game. blaze and rouge only got introduces in the modern era. to suddenly make them the lead female characters wouldn't make sense. and sally is from a different continuity. if she was implemented in the game canon her backstory would be different.
6) and going off the above point, all three of the female characters op mentioned wouldn't hesitate to burn her to keep amy warm.
honestly i would be hurt by the petition if it wasn’t so fucking stupid. ik sonamy fans can be toxic but i have NEVER seen them resort to such petty behavior like making a fucking petition to get rid of a fictional character.
and this petition does seem stupid now but back in the day a lot of amy fans who saw it were genuinely scared that sega would listeb to it, especially with the amount of signatures it got, and created their own counter petitions to keep amy in the sonic series. and... i understand that these amy fans were like... 14 and afraid of their favourite character disappearing. but guys.... its a fucking change.org petition. no matter how many signatures it gets it won't do anything. even IF sega sees it, thry'd just laugh and brush it off. i can just as easily make a petition to change sonic's species from a hedgehog to a bee and it could get 5000 signatures but it still wouldn't change anything. i can't fault those amy fans for being worried because most of them were quite young.
so yeah. this whole anti amy petition was a big thing back then and looking back its just a circus all around.

I think Kingdom Hearts fandom is going through a “renaissance” into bad behaviors I haven’t seen in a while.
Kingdom Hearts shipping toxicity usually increases the longer we lack canon content. That’s not entirely unique to KH. Fandoms tend to spin their gears during downtime between installments, and a lot of that gear-spinning is shipping. But. Like. Kingdom Hearts shipping is so toxic, I’m slipping under.
I put this under a read more for length. And also a sprinkle of vent. Ship names are censored to keep this out of their tags.
Prologue
This is not meant to bash on any ship. It is simply chronicling what I saw in the past and now, and drawing a line between them.
Regarding S0wwiku and S0k@i- I’m not trying to bash S0wwiku as a concept. It actually makes more sense to me than S0k@i, which smacks of someone behind the scenes forcing the characters together. I might even ship Sowwiku openly, if not for the bad behavior outlined here.
Regarding akuw0ku- That ship is my nOTP for reasons that will become apparent in this rant. If you ship it, I mean no ill-will towards you. But I personally can’t stomach it.
A Brief Prehistory
To understand what I’m seeing, we need to explore how we got there. The real birth of the mega-toxic shipping culture was back around Kingdom Hearts 2. There was a fandom around the original game and COM era, but from what I’ve seen, it wasn’t as noxious as it was today with the shipping. I’ve seen S0ka! and S0wwiku (which is my new censored spelling you’ve gotta deal with). But not much else.
The reason is simple and clean- there wasn’t much else to talk about. The game only added four original characters (Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Ansem SOD, the last of whom was ignored when Riku wasn’t in the room). The introduction of the original Organization XIII was the spark for the toxic fandom of the mid-to-late 2000s.
I’m not 100% sure on the history for the CoM era, but it wasn’t long. There were only about 1-2 years (depending on your country) between CoM and KHII. That’s just enough time to get bored with speculating on the purpose of the Organization before you’re introduced to the whole boy band.
There were four years between KHII and 358/2 Days. Four years. Of basically nothing (remasters don’t count, and Coded was Japan-exclusive at the time). Armed with tons of pretty guys and free time, the bad seeds were able to sprout.
Ship wars. Character bashing. Creepy behaviors.
The Living Nightmare
I once knew this girl in real life who shipped akuw0ku religiously. Once, I went to a cosplay party dressed (sort of) as Roxas. She was there with a roll of duct tape. She chased me and tried to tie me up with duct-tape (she didn’t). But the thing that sticks the most with me is she didn’t call me by name while she did this.
She called me Roxas.
Most people were not as loose with their behavior in real life as her. But they were all over Internet spaces. Where- unrestrained by real life- they spit out the most toxic garbage you’ve ever seen. Age might have been a factor in this era. A lot of what went down could only be accomplished by bored teenagers. But the absolute deluge of horror was something I haven’t seen before or since.
The ship bashing and the insistence on pairings being canon was at an all-time high. “Evidence” was often based on purposefully mistranslated or false info. I believe the lie that Nomura insisted there were no romantic pairings in the series was created as an attempt at damage control. But there was just no stopping it.
“Consoled” by the “evidence”, people felt free to write OOC garbage using the seme/uke dynamic. Once the seme and uke positions were set, the characters could not leave them. Any person who attempted to criticize any of this was dogpiled. If they were targeting a gay ship- and they often were- they were instantly labeled as homophobic regardless of explanation.
Some people were. Make no mistake. But a lot of people weren’t. Some people (i.e.- me) were new to fandom and didn’t understand slash shipping as a concept. I said things that probably were homophobic without understanding (I was 14-ish). I probably shouldn’t have said those things. But every conversation eventually became a fight for my life. After a single rebuttal, I was always personally attacked. No-one noticed I was a fresh fish in the pond. No-one tried to explain to me.
“Don’t like don’t look” wasn’t used as good fandom advice or for safety. It was used as a weapon. This is why it took my years to accept it as valid advice.
The female characters got a lot less “love” than their male counterparts. When Xion was revealed, fans attacked her for the crimes of being a woman and “cockblocking” akuw0ku. All they had at the time was a picture and a name. Kairi faced such terrible abuse that there was legitimately a fic called “The Horrible Bloody Death of Kairi”, where Sora and Riku actually kill her.
The reason was all down to shipping. Kairi/Xion existed to threaten or “de-canonize” the gay ships. So it was best if they didn’t exist at all.
I know Kairi- amongst most of the female cast- is poorly written. But the animal behavior of these people was still excessive. It wasn’t merely disliking a character. It was wanting them to suffer to the point of obsession. Never mind how their fans might feel about this behavior. I wonder if anyone who liked Kairi read or was messaged that wretched fic...
Shippers of this type were- in some places- a very vocal minority. But they ruled the roost. The rules were simple. The ship was law. What ship didn’t matter- it depended on what corner of the Internet you were in. The roles were set. The puppets played their parts. Move the puppets, object to the group, and you were incinerated like Vexen.
A Brief Dark Age
This nonsense continued through 358/2 Days up until around Dream Drop Distance. In 2012, it petered out. But from KHII to 3D, we got three games. 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, and 3D itself. But no properly numbered titles. No major releases.
358/2 Days/BBS was just enough of a drip-feed to keep the fandom beast alive, without really progressing Sora’s story. Terra and Ventus formed a new couple, but Aqua wasn’t as poorly treated as Kairi/Xion. People were maturing. Nature was healing. Once Sora’s story creaked forward with 3D, it came with tons of new lore to talk about. To obsess over. To focus on.
Something outside of shipping.
And then the dark age came. Not counting Re:Coded, we didn’t get a new game until 2019. I haven’t really monitored the fandom during this time. But they seemed to grow up a bit. With Kingdom Hearts 3, new ships- like Axel and Isa- rose up. But they never became cults. Seme/uke roles were lessened. Not gone, if they already existed. But definitely weaker.
We might be able to move on. Or so it seemed.
And Yet You Understand Nothing
We are in a new dark age. Sora’s story hasn’t progressed since 2019. We’ve gotten prequel upon mobile game. But time has yet to move forward. The last time I saw people get super excited was with the end of Union X. Dark Road also brought some chatter. But since Dark Road ended, we’ve just been waiting for KH4. It has no release date- just windows that will be moved several time. You know the game.
In the void, there’s nothing to talk about. Nothing but the old fallback. Nothing but shipping.
I’ve seen a return of the canon-grubbing cult. With nothing else to talk about but old content and shipping, it was only natural. Especially regarding S0wwiku.
Sora’s tag is about 95% S0wwiku right now. People in that tag want it canon so damn bad that they draw false conclusions, and bash female characters or rob them of their accomplishments. It’s the old game in a new era.
Some people- from what I understand- place their own experiences onto the characters. Which is fine. Okay. I get that. But the drive to be canon- to be right- is coming back in full force. I fear we could go back.
Ship wars. Character bashing. Creepy behaviors.
We can pretend we grew up, but these elements never really left us. In the void without new content, desperate for something to do, we cling to darkness. And darkness is the heart’s true essence...
Kingdom Hearts is Light- Advice for New Fans
I want to end this ramble with things I wish someone would have told me. If the evil really isn’t defeated, people will jump in blind. I want them to have a better, safer fandom experience than I did.
Gay ships are okay. They are someone else’s interpretation of the characters. They are allowed to have that opinion. You are not homophobic/a monster for not liking the ship, or having a different opinion.
If you don’t like something, don’t look at it. That’s not an attack. That’s for your safety. Click the back button. Close the tab. Block the person.
Your hatred of a ship or type of content will not make it disappear. Your comment will never make content you don’t like get deleted. Attacking the author of a fic with a pairing you hate will do nothing but hurt someone’s feelings.
Blocking is not cowardly. The block function exists to protect you. If a conversation is going south, or morphs into a personal attack, block them.
If you have a ship you really like, it doesn’t have to be “canon” or “right”. If the ship-cult is trying to insist that it is, be wary (they could be exaggerating in light-hearted fun). If they attack people with other opinions, cut ties or block.
A ship is not more important than other people’s feelings. Don’t attack people who ship something you don’t like. Don’t retaliate when people tell you to ship something you hate. Block them. On sight.
If you don’t like a character, think of their fans. There is a way to say you don’t like a character other than writing fics of that character being brutally murdered.
On Tumblr, keep character or ship rebuttals out of their tag. Censor ship names or character names. This isn’t an “unalive” situation where using the full word is important.
Never, ever, ever bring the conversation out of the fandom and into personal attacks. For example, if someone says “I don’t like this ship”, your response shouldn’t be “kill yourself” or “you’re a bad person”. Your response should be ignoring them (if they are non-aggressive) or blocking them (if they are).
I’m going to make this section its own post, because I feel like it’s so important. We always believe that fans are seasoned veterans. We never account for people who just left the islands and are starting their adventure. It would be wrong to post this without addressing the facet of this issue that led it to scar me.

Weird to look back on these blogs. Sometimes I miss it. Sometimes I wonder if the money for subs and commissions as well as the years spent were an entire waste. Most times, though, I’m glad to have not touched this toxic community in months; I almost always feel better off for it even if I do miss the very few good times/interactions I had. The cliques and biases, the narcissism, the selfishness, the damn political issues and opinions in a fantasy game, the amount of low-quality trolls, the never-ending fakes… the apparent rise of AI use since I’ve taken a break… people only ever wanting to befriend popular crowds with/for art and shipping, the obsession with ERP and death of monogamy… etc, etc, etc. Truly, to each their own! But I was and still am so tired. Sometimes I just want to throw in the towel with MMORPGs as a whole and don’t feel like I fit in anywhere no matter how hard I try; similarly doubt I’m missed by anybody still here. Even in FFXIV where my characters can at least be made to look much closer to how I imagine them than WoW’s awful customization allows, all I ever do anymore is take screenshots and idle. It’s little better over there beyond that.
Regardless, to whatever void this reaches, I hope all is and remains well out there. I’m forever on Discord, at least. Maybe someday I’ll have the motivation and patience again to rejoin you brave folk.
In the meantime, here’s some favored proof of my time elsewhere and with my siren. I may feel like I’m getting too old for crowds but I’ll never stop wanting to create.

for the OC ask game: professor chronos!
Oh boy, one of the OCs I'm most autistic about right now!
Full Name: She's had a few names. Project Chimera. Adam. Eve. Professor Chronos. Jenny.
Gender and Sexuality: Trans (no direction just trans) and ???? All I know is thon is my only alloromantic and allosexual OC. Julesromantic and Julessexual I dunno
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers, Thon/Thon/Thons
Ethnicity/Species: A many animal hybrid (originally human, snake, and mountain goat)
Birthplace and Birthdate: A top secret government sponsored lab. Unknown.
Guilty Pleasures: Romcoms, comics
Phobias: Being left behind/abandoned, having no true free will
What They Would Be Famous For: Designed for being a new type of super soldier, killing an entire facility of scientists and government soldiers singlehandedly
What They Would Get Arrested For: Murdering almost everyone in the facility, unethical scientific experimentation, probably war crimes if she ever went into the field
OC You Ship Them With: Jules (bitter exes that try to kill each other sometimes and also kiss each other sometimes)
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Jules
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Horror
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche (I'm assuming this is supposed to also be genre): Documentary
Talents and/or Powers: Enhanced strength, extreme stamina, amazing eyesight, vibration detection, good leaping ability, has venom, retractable claws... Goddamn thon's the whole package!
Why Someone Might Love Them: I made her based on fucked up toxic obsessive yuri, thon's often associated with blood and cannibalism, I think she'd do numbers on Tumblr
Why Someone Might Hate Them: Girl adjacent, very possessive, could be seen as trying too hard to be something appealing for Tumblr
How They Change: So in the story itself, not really. This is partially because it's a time travel and timeloop story and thon hasn't really accepted that things are over and can't be changed and also because she doesn't want to change. Before the story though thon was less aggressive with her possessiveness towards Jules, but upon finding out ey were forced to date thon, she took matters into thon's own hands and a. Killed everyone involved and b. Became way to narrow minded on how to "properly" win em over
Why You Love Them: I created her based on this stupid comic character I love/hate named Hugo Strange but also made thon a monster adjacent creature (need to make her more monsterous tbh) and I love using cannibalism for a metaphor of all consuming love. She's a VERY self indulgent OC

I've created an entire fucking blog just to complain about this, let's go --
First off, I'd like to just state that I am a woman myself, and a feminist. I just think that the way fandom uses feminism is not only toxic but also kinda mysoginistic in itself and can get homophobic, and I haven't seen anyone call it out on a major scale, so here we go.
Disliking a female character -- specifically disliking how she acts in canon -- is not fucking sexist.
This so annoying. I first realized this when I saw someone post about how disliking Lily is sexist and specifically preferring Regulus is sexist. The things they sited from that is that Regulus is depicted as being depressed and not being very nice to his love interest. They said that if they were to write Lily the same way, there would be major backlash.
What they failed to realize is that the majority of Regulus fans write Dorcas Meadowes almost exactly as they described.
I've seen this happen a lot, particlarly within the Marauders fandom. People take a look at people not liking a female character while liking male characters, mainly Lily and go 'oh, that person is sexist! without checking to see if they're a fan of any other female characters. It's honestly tiring.
On that note, disliking a character because you ship their canon boyfriend with a guy is not sexist.
On the surface, I can understand this one -- they're exchanging male characters out for female characters and disliking the female characters involved.
This kind of crumbles when you consider this happens all the time with het ships. The first thing that comes to my mind is Twilight (you could not find a Bedward stan that likes Jacob or vice versa, don't lie) but there's most certainly more. I just think it seems very normal for a het ship and not a gay ship.
There's also a bit of a homophobic undertone to it because the people who do this are very selective about what is and isn't sexist. Percabeth fans who demonized Rachel for getting in the way of their OTP were also the same people who passionately declared that Luke was redeemed, despite the fact that her feelings for Luke were a big point of contension between Annabeth and Percy for a lot of the series.
Similarly, attacking people who ship other ships that happen to be het ships is not sexist.
I'm not saying that's okay -- in fact, I think it's very wrong and toxic but one thing it's not is sexist.
Again, it happens all the time with popular het ships, just its considered part of shipping het. You couldn't say one thing about a Twilight or Hunger Games ship without getting death threats. There are an embarrassing amount of cases of not only irl bullying but fucking violence for Percy Jackson. This wasn't brought in by gay ships, it's been there for the beginning and is still very much there for gay and het. It's kind of annoying that people are acting like only gay ships do this.
Also, if they're doing it on the premise of it being het and don't do it to other gay ships, it's probably just because they're very defensive about their headcanons of this character as gay. Like, headcanons are just heated in general, the amount of death threats exchanged between whether or not Sirius Black was abused or whether Snape vs James is a rivalry is tiring, why are you thinking that being like this about sexuality is somehow different?
This is without saying that the majority of people who read gay fanfiction are queer, and use it as a source of representation given that media will not give them that. People forget that young queer children are not surrounded by people who are like them like other minorities often are and are often instead surrounded by hatred, and so a lot of them will latch onto anything that tells them 'hey -- you're valid'. They are therefore going to be very protective of their queer characters, even if those characters are not queer in canon.
There's often this understanding that young people who read these things are teenagers. With straight teenage girls, this affects how people judge them. When Fem!Reader x [Insert Male Character] is written, it's dismissed as just a part of fandom because teenage girls are horny instead of girls being creepy, as it should be. However, people don't do the same with queer kids. People never acknowledge how desperate young children are for representation in comparison to their adult counterparts, as they're not old enough to go to gay bars so don't know any queer people They're often in bad situations where they're being told they're wrong for existing and need some way to be told being them is okay.
This kind of thing also gets more buzz because it more often affects the creators, however that's mainly due to the fact that most popular gay ships aren't canon while most het ships are, as they can afford to.
Liking majority gay male ships is not sexist.
The main reason for this is that while their may be a female character in quality shows, virtually all shows that are both good and considered to be male enough to like by society (and generally also by people who say stuff like this) centre around M/M friendships.
About sixty percent of films pass the bechedel test, and most of them just barely. For a relationship to be good enough to be a popular ship it needs a. be featured a lot in the piece of media and b. have a reasonable amount of development...take a guess how many films have FF friendships that pass that requirement. Not many.
When there are proper female characters with fleshed out relationships, the main ships of a fandom are often het or FF, such as the Percy Jackson fandom with Percabeth, or the Wednesday fandom with Wenclair.
Bonus: Fetishization Doesn't Happen (This way around) Let's define fetishization (as a form of objectification), shall we?
Thinking that everyone with that identity in real fucking life exists for the purpose of your pleasure.
So yeah, doesn't happen, women just aren't raised to think about men this way, gay or not.
So, how is this misogynistic?
The people who do what you're accusing them of being mysogynisitic for are women, and you most likely know this, and y'all are acting like a woman being misogynistic is the same as a man being misogynistic.
You wouldn't say that a gay person being homophobic is the same as a straight person being homophobic, would you? No, because a. they're probably hurting themselves just as much if not more than they're hurting you, and b. they don't have the power to really do anything.
You wouldn't say that a black person being racist is the same as a white person being racist, would you? No, because a. they're probably hurting themselves just as much if not more than they're hurting you, and b. they don't have the power to really do anything.
Why's it the same for women? Well, because women don't actually have much political power. They can go viral, sure, so they have some level of media power, however how many members of the Supreme Court are women? How many presidents? None. A misogynisitic man is dangerous because he can do stuff like get Roe vs Wade overturned or take away the rights to free divorce. A misogynistic man is dangerous because people respect him more than they do any woman.
How many mysnoginistic women have you seen that a have gone viral because of their takes of feminism? And how many have you seen be actually taken seriously by their side?
Now how many men have you seen do this?
Female misogyny just isn't as dangerous as male misogyny, and should be treated as such. This is an issue in wider feminism too, but specifically in fandom.

What Your Favorite Puella Magi Madoka Magica Ship Says About You
Inspired by DoubleCa5t's series, and since we're probably going to get an official video sooner or later, I'm putting my version out while I can.
Also, this is all in good fun, so don't take any teasing seriously.
...
MadoHomu (Madoka X Homura)
You are a firm believe in the inherent eroticism of this image.
Tumblr media
You have episode ten memorized.
You have a very specific emotional reaction to “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper.
You have severe problems with The Rebellion Story, particularly in how it upended the optimistic note that the original series ended on and recontextualized Homura’s devotion to Madoka as something unhealthy and even toxic, but you still can’t bring yourself to reject the movie entirely, because at the end of the day, even you have to admit that damn, that dress.
The phrase, “X character did nothing wrong” pops up a lot in your internet discourse.
You ship CatraDora.
KyouSaya (Kyouko X Sayaka)
You’re always a sucker for how the dynamic of Enemies to Lovers shifts from antagonism to devotion without losing its obsessive intensity.
Your ideal date can best be summed up as Be Gay, Do Crimes…after which you have to call your responsible friend to come bail both of you out.
You know that important stuff happens after episode nine, but to be quite frank, at that point you were too emotionally traumatized to get invested and were only watching out of a feeling of obligation.
You were uncharacteristically smug after watching The Rebellion Story despite what disproportionately little screentime your ship received.
You also ship CatraDora.
MadoSaya (Madoka X Sayaka)
You don’t understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to Enemies to Lovers when there’s a perfectly good Friends to Lovers right there.
This is the same joke as the first part of MadoHomu, but with the Hot Topic switched out for a Footlocker.
You lost your mind on 4chan over Persephone’s Waltz on more than one occasion and for more than one reason (hey, ErinPtah!).
KyouMami (Kyouko X Mami)
You read A Different Story, and probably listened to that one audio drama.
You’re a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of exes that still long for one another.
You feel that a lot of the issues that both these characters struggle with stem from how messy their falling out was, and had Mami been more supportive and Kyouko not abandoned her after the death of Kyouko’s family, a whole lot of grief could have been avoided.
MamiSaya (Mami X Sayaka)
Your ideal date is getting sempai to notice you.
You have gotten into at least one altercation with Anticrack-Kun.
MadoMami (Madoka X Mami)
Your ideal date is getting kouhai to notice you.
You’re just here for some girls being friends, gals being pals.
MamiNagi (Mami X Nagisa)
You were already shipping Mami with the human form of Charlotte before The Rebellion Story came out, and even afterward you’re still unwilling to let go despite how uncomfortable it makes you now, to the point where “Aged Up Characters” is a regular tag in your ao3 searches.
Either that, or…
Tumblr media
HomuMami (Homura X Mami)
You’re a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of passive-aggressiveness.
You were tilting your head in a particular manner during that scene where Mami ties up Homura, and feel that how it ended was a real missed opportunity.
You had to pause The Rebellion Story for about five minutes after the gunfight, and after you continued you shouted, “Goddamn it, Sayaka!” out loud.
HomuSaya (Homura X Sayaka)
This is the same joke as the first part of MadoHomu, but with the Sanrio switched out for a Footlocker.
Your favorite ao3 tag is “Hatesex.”
KyouHomu (Kyouko X Homura)
You know what's better than one edgy badass girl with a tragic past? Two edgy badass girls with a tragic past.
You felt that both these characters spent too much energy pursuing someone that just weren't into them as they were, and would better off settling with someone on more equal footing.
You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of game recognizing game.
You really wish that they reached that ramen shop in the movie.
KyouMado (Kyouko X Madoka)
Your favorite highschool relationship dynamic is edgy delinquent/ray of sunshine.
You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of “gap moe.”
HitoSuke (Hitomi X Kyousuke)
You feel that these two characters get way too much hate, and everything that happened wasn’t their fault. Like, come on, guys. How could they have known that their teenaged relationship drama would be exploited by a race of emotionless alien groomers?
Your main priority is keeping things canon…and you don’t have a whole lot else to work with.
HitoSaya (Hitomi X Sayaka)
You feel that the most effective way of resolving a love triangle is eliminating the heterosexual options.
You feel that when Hitomi declared, “Girls can’t love girls!”, Sayaka’s reaction ought to have been, “Challenged accepted.”
SayaSuke (Sayaka X Kyousuke)
You just want good things for Sayaka, but only in a first four episodes kind of way.
You are heterosexual.
SayaHitoSuke (Sayaka X Hitomi X Kyousuke)
You feel that the best way of resolving a love triangle is by connecting the bottom two axis.
You are heterosexual. Or possibly bisexual. Well, regardless, you are really horny.
HomuHito (Homura X Hitomi)
You’ve played the portable game.
MadoHito (Madoka X Hitomi)
You are constantly frustrated at how little attention this ship receives. After all, weren’t they friends too? But instead people seem to be more focused on shipping characters that don’t even like each other or never even interact in the show, and at this point you’re just glad that I acknowledged it in this silly meme post.
MamiHito (Mami X Hitomi)
You want to be a wealthy, unmarried Victorian duchess who is noted by history for your incredibly close relationship with your lovely companion who lives with you, does everything with you, up to and including sharing a bed, and after both of your deaths scholars will make note of what great friends you must have been.
KyouHito (Kyouko X Hitomi)
You were going out of your way to piss off Anticrack-kun. And really, who wouldn’t?
KyouSuke (Kyouko X Kyousuke)
You were going out of your way to piss off everybody, and I salute your courage.
HomuJun (Homura X Junko)
You are really into Pixar moms.
Also, obligatory…
Tumblr media
KazuJun (Kazuko X Junko)
This is the same joke as the second part of MadoMami, but you’re also really into Pixar moms.
MadoKyu (Madoka X Kyubey)
I can’t say for certain whether or not you’re a monsterfucker, but you certainly enjoy the chaos that the very implication of this ship creates.
PolyMegucas (Madoka X Sayaka X Homura X Kyouko X Mami)
You don’t understand why there has to be so much drama between all these different pairings. All the girls are wonderful in their own ways, and they would be so much happier if they just stopped fighting, formed a loving and mutually supportive team dynamic as was seen in the first part of the movie, and possibly smooched one another.
Also, you are extremely horny.

When Sarah confirms Gwynriel (hopefully)
I think the impact will be great for the other side, because they are being deluded and fed with what will become of them.
Hopefully after confirming that things are fine, and they or even we can deal with the fact that it won't be the ship we want at the end of the game.
I don't really care because it's just a book and there are a thousand Gwynriel fanfics to read and it might even be better than the official version.
But I think the impact will be big in the beginning.
I always think that those who delude themselves end up feeling the fall more, more even attacking and putting their insecurities on others and offending I know that in the end they are the least prepared for Sarah's confirmation of the endgame ship.
I even worry a little, but I also know that this illusion they are creating is also their choice and all this fuss is going to hit them hard in the end.
I just don't, want if it's Gwynriel endgame, we celebrate, but don't be scoffing and rubbing it in face without limits and know not to overdo it.
Many forget that, at the end of the day, these are only fictional characters. There's nothing wrong with being passionate about a character, ship etc. as long as you stay respectful. It's sad that this entire ship war led to bullying, threatening real people.
No matter which ship will be confirmed, the first few days will be a mess. Indeed, the other side takes it way too far and we've seen they are the most aggressive (but that does not excuse the existing aggressive Gwynriels, because both sides have their toxic fans). If those leaks that meant nothing to any of the two ships caused so much drama, I am a bit terrified about the chaos the confirmation for either ship will cause.
I say we all chill out and wait for the confirmation. I am happily focusing on Gwynriel, on every beautiful art, fanfic that is written about them, and that makes me happy and not worried about those 'leaks that confirm x'.

Let's talk LGBTQ+ erasure in the Marvel Fandom
Mischaracterization in fandom is a big problem, and it's something we see from every fanbase. A character gets boiled down into a few condensed traits and their nuance is washed out and forgotten. Fanonization isn't always inherently bad, and can lead to fandom solidarity and representation through headcanon, and this can sometimes eventually have influence on canon, which can be seen in the Homestuck fandom, where eventually slash pairings that received enough attention became endgame romantic pairings (Dave and Karkat, Rose and Kanaya, etc.). Of course I'm not here to discuss Homestuck today, I'm here to discuss the Marvel fandom and its toxic dudebro fans, as well as related topics that intersect with this issue.
There's a common mischaracterization problem in the Marvel fandom, particularly in relation to queer relationships and characters.
First example is Deadpool. Wade Wilson is described by his canon writers and creators to be omnisexual or pansexual, or of an otherwise fluctuating and open sexuality. The Deadpool video game wildly mischaracterized Wade and even made him behave in some homophobic ways, acting grossed out by men and homoerotic implications. This was jarring for me as someone who has read his comics and knows for a fact that Wade has multiple emphasized crushes on or at least attraction to other male characters, such as Spider-Man, Thor, Cable, and others. The game was very popular despite this mischaracterization and created a condensed fanonized Deadpool that is made into nothing more than an ultraviolent oversexualized joke, despite his character being the epitome of coping humor and having a very tender and compassionate side to him. It's known in the comics that Wade uses his humor to cope with his severe trauma, this doesn't mean he is just comic relief. This has gotten consistently worse since the Deadpool films. (I'm looking at you, shitty Wal-Mart DP t shirt that shows Wade holding a sign that says "oh I'm sorry did I offend you?" Which is really OOC imho)
Many of the more hypermasculine fans of Deadpool seem to have this false image of him being the epitome of "offensive humor" when in reality his trademark is Metahumor, not going out of his way to be a dick to people. These fans also often either ignore or aren't aware of Deadpool not being straight, portraying him as thirsting after buxom ladies but forgetting his openly admitted male attracted orientation which is just as obvious if you're not actively ignoring it. This is a grave mistake that takes so much from his character, especially in the case of the Deadpool/Spider-Man team up comics.
In that span of issues Wade went through an entire moral transformation, molding himself and his moral compass to earn the respect of Spider-Man, while unable to go more than a few pages without flirting with him. The things Wade goes through in order to Do the Right Thing by Spider-Man in any other story would be considered romantic. If a man did this much for a woman in a narrative of course no one would question the romantic subtext, but because it's two men, half of the fanbase has a kneejerk reaction to this concept and swear that Deadpool flirting is a joke. (Or that it's just "Bromance")
Yes, because apparently a man being attracted to a man has to be a joke. /Sarc
Wade and Peter are even canonically shown to be "heartmates" and this still isn't enough for the erasure to end, and ultimately I think this is because the fans guilty of this either didn't read the Deadpool comics and only know the movie or game, or they chose to read the comics through a straight washed lense, assuming all "gayness" is a joke.
It's made prominently clear in Deadpool/Spider-Man that Wade is probably in love with Spidey based on his actions, and truly every single interaction with him leaves more evidence to support this idea, especially when you look at his relationship with Shiklah and how not-good it was in comparison to his much healthier dynamic with Peter. Even with the knowledge of the ridiculous Peter Parker Policy (that states Peter Parker must always be portrayed as a straight white man in canon despite him being the embodiment of the underdog), one cannot deny Wade is attracted to Peter canonically. The only thing in the way of them being a pair is that they're both men and Marvel is too cowardly to make one of their most famous and family oriented characters queer, and that fans who aren't queer actively ignore the obvious subtext and narrative value of the Wade/Peter dynamic in the comics. Marvel has doubled down on this with the MCU by making Peter Parker WAYYYYY younger than Wade than he actually is in the comics (don't ship MCU spideypool folks, that's gross. Comics only. MCU Spider-Man is far too young even at 18), making it now impossible for us to see this dynamic on screen, because they're only capable of giving queer representation when it comes with an R rating, apparently (and they really didn't do that w Deadpool either tbh they stated that he's pansexual in some trailers but never showed much queerness in the films at all, even with Ryan Reynolds wanting to focus on Wade having a boyfriend at some point, it hasn't come to fruition bc Marvel is too scared to lose their rabid straight fans).
The same erasure can be seen in Venom, in relation to Eddie Brock and his undeniably queer relationship with the genderless, masculine presenting alien living in his body.
Eddie and Venom are portrayed and referred to as if they're married, Venom himself states that their bond is equivalent to a marriage, and Eddie calls Venom "love". Yet again, this is ignored by edgier straight fans who refuse to see the blatant truth about the characters.
Venom drops everything to be with Eddie, his purpose in life itself. He chooses Eddie over his biological purpose and has repeatedly been shown to do ANYTHING to stay with him, never wanting to be apart from Eddie.
After the release of Venom 2018 this relationship is receiving spotlight again, but not without pushback. Many fans seem to have the impression that this relationship is fan generated and accuse shippers of "hamfisting gay shit into everything" when in reality they're the ones hamfisting straightness where there is none, and erasing the canon in order to fit their personal interpretation, the very thing they accuse queer fans of doing. The same thing happens with Spideypool, with Stucky, with Symbrock, with Loki and Venom's nonbinary genders, with every LGBTQ+ hero or character in Marvel this can be seen as a pervasive problem. The elitist nerds who go out of their way to delegitimize other fans are often the least fluent in the source material they claim to defend.
This is both a result of toxic fandom, and of badly managed representation on the part of Marvel as a company. I'm by no means an authority on all things Marvel, but as a queer fan of Marvel properties, I feel this needs to be said.

My gripes with "anti-fujoshi/yaoi" people
Disclaimer: I'm a woman of chinese descent living in Sweden, I don't personally identify as a fujoshi but I've been interested in the discourse around yaoi and fuoshi culture for a long time, in general I feel sympathetic to fans of yaoi and BL works.
As a person of chinese descent, I don’t trust any westerners who demonize all BL and yaoi as “fetishizing rape and abuse uwu”. It just feels very offensive to stereotype and generalize an entire medium from asia they seen to know nothing about, or have an extremely limited knowledge of.
Any stories can be problematic no matter who its written by and marketed towards. Porn marketed to gay men can be just as problematic as any yaoi/BL work.
And many people do enjoy "dark" and "edgy" content. That is nothing new or wrong, some stories are meant to titillate and disgust the audience at the same time, no one gives anyone crap for watching "Game of thrones" or SAW movies.
Yaoi and BL works are not inherently more "problematic" than someone's slice-of-life coffeeshop AU on ao3. Some are beautifully drawn and amazingly written, such as the BL manwha "Painter of the night".
And yes, some asians are also anti-fujoshi/yaoi/BL, but I also disagree strongly with them too.
The claims that most or all fujoshi are cishet girls has been proven wrong time and time again, so I wont even get into it.
To me, many opinions expressed by anti-fujoshi feel sexist as hell, yet many have the gall to claim fujin are the "misogynist" ones. For example, I've seen those claim that they are "superior" to those "nasty fujoshi" because they ship MLM and WLW based on "brain wiring" and "personal connection" rather than "personal sexual fulfillment" (im paraphrasing what I saw someone say), as if feeling sexual desire makes you a bad person and female sexuality is tainted and evil.
Anti-fujoshis speak a lot about how toxic and homophobic they perceive the fujoshi community to be and for that I cant comment since I havent participated in any way, but most seem to focus on what kind of fiction being created and consumed as evidence of "toxic behavior". To me, no death threats or harassment over what fiction you consume is acceptable, no stranger has a right to demand you only read "pure" works yet I've seen many anti-fujoshi bloggers do just that, which is worrying.
These are my thoughts, I hope I've made my thoughts.

Someone has been very busy! (Pinguicula X sp.)
Feeding time seems to be when I water things because it disturbs the soil and causes them to take flight. :P

I originally ordered Malabar spinach seeds (Basella alba var rubra, 49 days) because I wanted some edible greens but it turns out they’re very pretty and good as ornamentals as well! They look like Pileas and Peperomias except edible and not related to either!
Check out that vining action!

Thinking a lot about how the concept of species is socially constructed.
We tend to conceptualize species as neat slots (which philosophically can be described as Ideals) in the ground that organisms gravitate towards, but in reality species are more like motes of dust sliding around on an infinite frictionless surface and always in motion.
What we see as a species we're just trying to take a statistical average of those piles of dust representing a population, but the genetic distribution of those individuals changes from year to year and what constitutes that species changes, since Ideals or baselines don't exist for any species.
What we know now as a sparrow isn't exactly the same as what people 20,000 years ago knew as one, but the change isn't easily noticeable because of how a species can change (at least the ones visible to the naked eye anyways) and if we were to resurrect a population from thousands of years ago, they'd most likely be different than modern ones. Life changes in a smooth continuum.
The continuation of life (and thus, evolution) is just a very very long ship of Theseus where living group of organisms' genetics slowly change in a slow game of telephone. What we see as a species and think of in terms of ideals is actually a continually changing process being run until that population has no more living descendents (extinction).

Finally got these!! This is Solanum pyracanthum! A very punk rock-looking nightshade from Madagascar.
I didn’t expect the colors to be so bold in real life! I thought the photos were all enhanced or something.
I got two of them with the idea of getting seeds in case they’re not self compatible, with the intention to help make these more available, since they’re still a little difficult to get.
One of the common names is Porcupine tomato, though they’re entirely toxic so these shouldn’t be eaten unlike actual tomatoes.
