Fairy Tales- Chapter 2

Summary: Lena finally has the work and home life balance that she wants and is excited to get to spend the next two weeks that she has off with the girls while Kara is away. She believes that it will be smooth sailing, but things are not as they seem.

When Lena and the girls waved goodbye to Kara, she had assumed that it would be smooth sailing for the next two weeks. She was excited for all the activities that she had planned for them. Everything started off well. She showed them some of her projects in the home lab. Currently, she is working on doing food transportation with nano bots. The girls found it fascinating that she was able to shrink the food so that it would fit in the nano bot and once it was open, the food appeared back in its regular size.

However, after the first day, the girls' behavior started to alter. The next day, Lena decided to take the girls to Noonan’s. The girls always like the Oreo pancakes from there. Once they got there, the waiter gave her the regular menu and the girls the kids menu.

Alexa frowned and said, “Can I have the adult menu instead?”

Lena stared at Alexa with surprise and asked, “Are you sure honey?”

Alexa rolled her eyes and said, “I want the adult menu. I’m not a baby anymore.”

“Alright, you can have the adult menu.”

Lena turned to the waitress and asked, “Do you mine bringing us an extra menu?”

“Sure ma’am.”

The waitress hurried and retrieved the menu for Alexa. She beamed with pride when the waitress finally handed it to her. However, as Alexa quickly skimmed through the menu, she began to frown. Lena had a feeling this would happen, but didn’t want to discourage her.

Lena gave a soft smile and asked, “Did you find something you like?”

Alexa stared at the menu for a couple of minutes before turning the menu around and pointing at the item to Lena.

“I want this.” said Alexa with determination.

Lena was shocked with the choice, but kept her face passive. Alexa had chosen the grilled salmon with baked potato and asparagus. Alexa had the same taste buds as Kara. She tended to avoid fish and anything that is grilled. She also hated anything food wise that was green.

“Ok, if you are sure” said Lena hesitantly.

“Yes, it is going to be great!” said Alexa with determination.

Lena stared at her with a quizzical look. She had so many questions, but decided to leave things alone for now. Just then the waiter came back to take their order. Lena ordered first, and then Alexa. Then Lena turned to Liza to see what she wanted. She was surprised to see that she was wearing headphones and staring idly out the window.

“Liza” said Lena, frowning.

Liza kept staring out the window.

Lena sighed and tapped Liza on the shoulder. Liza turned to her surprise and took off the headphones.

“What?” asked Liza quizzically.

“The server is here to take our order.”

“Oh, I just want Oreo pancakes.”

“Ok” said Lena warily.

The waitress took their order and quickly left. Lena turned her attention back to Liza who was about to put the headphones back on. Lena reached out her hand to stop her.

“Why do you have the headphones?”

Liza sighed and said, “I was trying to drown out Kanna.”

“When you say Kanna, you mean your imaginary friend Kanna?” asked Lena hesitantly.

Liza nodded and said, “She came back two days ago. She won’t leave me alone until I go to Avalon with her.”
