Autism Acceptance

CAMP AU

Prompt day 1: April 1

Remus did not want to go to day camp. But his parents would not hear his no. They insisted that it would be good for him to learn these life skills and it was just during the day for the month of June. He would go after breakfast and be back home before supper, the same hours as the school day. It was even at his highschool, so he would know the building and where everything was.

But he still was adamant that he did not want to go. He wanted to stay home and read his books, draw, and listen to music and his videos. He wanted to play with his legos. Yes they absolutely needed to be reorganised again, this time by the number of studs instead of by colour like his mum had helped him do years ago.

Who needs to learn to ride a bike, make a sandwich, swim, do washing, or tie his shoes anyways?! He could keep wearing his velcro ones and when would he ever care to use a bike. He was perfectly fine not going in the gross water at the pool or the beach or the lake or wherever they were at. He liked playing in the water during the summer, but he much preferred the sprinkler or the kiddie pool that his parents set up each year in the back garden.

Remus grumbled and made his displeasure known the whole time his mum was packing his snack and lunch and putting them, his rescue meds, and his favourite book and his taggie in his backpack.

He frowned when his dad made a joke about him wearing the same grey hoodie and blue knitted stocking cap in the middle of summer but he wore them anyways like he always did.

He wore his headphones over his ears and clung to his stuffed kitty as he waited outside their small home for the bus to arrive to take him to the first day of the worst summer of his life.

Sirius did not want to attend the life skills camp. What a waste of a perfectly good summer in which he could be tanning, swimming, bowling, or at the arcade. Hell Sirius could even just spend it sleeping in and getting laid.

James however talked him into it. James had said it would look good on their college applications to have volunteer hours on there and this would be a good cause to support.

The camp needed peer mentors to partner with the disabled students as a “buddy” while they learned to do things that would help them be more independent. So Sirius packed his lunch and tossed it and a few bottles of water into his bag, started his bike, and rode to the public school that he had never attended.

When he arrived he was lucky no one was able to see through the visor of his helmet as his face contorted to one of shock and slight disgust. The school was a two story brick building obviously made in the early 1900s. The white paint on the window frames was chipped and peeling and the sign out front had obviously been the newest thing about the entire facility. He parked, locked his helmet up, slung his bag over his shoulder and pocketed his keys as he headed to meet with James, sign in, get his name tag, and find out which poor sod he would be partnered with.

Sirius was now the official buddy of someone named Remus Lupin. Poor boy had parents similar to him, giving a kid an unusual name like that. He was given a little “about me” about Remus to look over before the attendees arrived on the bus in twenty minutes.

Remus was autistic. He carried around a stuffed cat named Pandy that he had had since he was a toddler. His hat and hoodie were comfort items and he did not need to take them off unless he wanted to. He hated his clothes getting wet, getting his hands dirty, and did not like some activities due to sensory aversion like paint, mud, playdough, glue, or slime. He loved to read and build with legos. He also loved music and hummed and sang songs he liked. He hated loud noises and wore headphones, but he vocally stimmed loudly and liked to script his favourite films. James explained that stimmed or stimming was a repetitive movement or noise that served a purpose, often to help regulate. Remus also had epilepsy and would have emergency medication with him in case he had a seizure. Sirius wasn’t sure that he would be a good fit. He knew nothing about autism or epilepsy. But he wanted to make it work and he was determined. He had never been a quitter. So he read everything he could find quickly on his phone and prepared for the bus to arrive.

Remus had counted the turns of the familiar route while his legs bounced and his little hand man jumped over the cars and people and signs they passed. When the bus came to a halt, Remus stayed seated until most of the students had left and Ms Hootch came over and told him he could unbuckle like she always did. Ms Hootch had been his driver ever since he could remember. He liked her and the other students didn’t be mean to Remus on the bus because she wouldn’t let anyone feel sad on her bus.

He unbuckled and he stood, grabbed his bag and carefully put it on before clutching Pandy to his chest and walking to the exit. He slowly went down the stairs and was met by his friend Minnie. She was his helper, but she was still his friend. With her was another boy. He was the prettiest boy Remus had ever seen. He had long dark hair and even wore sparkles on his eyes!

“Remus, this is Sirius. He will be your buddy for camp this summer,” Minnie said with a smile.

“You're pretty and shiny like a disco ball,” Remus said.

The boy, Sirius, laughed. “Thanks I think.”

“You're welcome” Remus replied nonchalantly before looking at Sirius’ outfit. He was wearing a band tee with one of Remus’ favourite bands on it and Remus squealed loud and high pitched.

Remus started to sing one of the songs from the album and thought maybe this wouldn’t be such a bad summer after all.

Sirius had waited while students climbed down off the bus when he was approached by a stern looking woman.

“Sirius Black?” she asked in a no nonsense tone.

“Yes.”

“I am Minerva. I am one of Remus’ teachers. I’ll come with you to introduce you both and will be close by during the days while you both are here in case he needs anything. You can come to me at any point if you need help.”

Minerva motioned for him to move forward. There was no one around the door to the bus anymore and all the other students and their partners, including James, had already made their way inside to do the welcome games.

Sirius was surprised when a tall, gorgeous boy stepped into view and down the stairs. His smile when he saw Minerva was breathtaking.

Sirius listened as Minerva introduced him and laughed in surprise when Remus called him pretty like a disco ball. That had to be the weirdest compliment he had ever received but he liked it.

Remus’ squeal startled him at first and he jumped at the sudden noise right near his ears but resisted the urge to yell out. Minerva gave him a look of approval at that and he felt a sense of pride that he did something right.

However, what shocked him the most was to hear Remus begin to sing his favourite song. His voice was enough to make Sirius think he had heard angels. He grinned and began to hum along.

Maybe this would be a great summer after all.

Hello everyone! It’s still hard to believe that I’ve hit 6k followers this month! I can’t believe there are so many of you interested in my silly little stories!!

In order to celebrate, I’ve asked you what kind of event you wanted, and you’ve voted for the tropes/AU event! So, here we go! I’m going to use the same prompts as a previous event, as I prepared a pretty thorough prompt list already.

I hope you have fun during this event!

Carole, what is all this new mess now?

The idea is simple: you can make a request for a character I write for (the list of characters is under the cut) by choosing a prompt in the lists that are (also) under the cut. You can add specific details if you have a more precise idea (but please, remember that I do not write nsfw content). In the coming weeks, I’ll write all your requests! I will accept a maximum of 15 requests, or as many requests as I will have received in the next 72 hours, depending on how many requests are submitted! The requests for this event will thus be open between today (August 14 2023) and Thursday (August 17 2023).

How can we request a fic?

You can request a fic by sending me a message through my inbox. I will not accept requests sent through private messages because it is very difficult for me to keep track of them that way. You can, however, request a fic on or off anon. So, if you’re a little shy, don’t hesitate to send me an anonymous ask!

You must choose a character in the list under the cut, for whom I will write a one-shot using the prompt you have chosen (the list is also under the cut). You can write down only the letter/number corresponding to the prompt you’ve chosen instead of copying them in full if it’s easier for you. You can choose an AU or a trope or an AU and a trope. You can also add whether you would prefer some fluff, angst or hurt/comfort.

You can include additional details if you have a specific idea and want to see it included in the fic ; however, I can reject a request if I don’t feel comfortable with the details you’ve added.

Wilder than Mountain Thyme - Chapter 4

Remus made the now familiar trip to UNICORNS on the morning of the full moon. His body was already aching, his skin felt stretched and too tight for his body. There was an uncomfortable tightness in his chest, nerves making his stomach churn. He had been accepted onto the programme and as per Lily’s instructions, he was now on his way to the centre for a health check, and for them to perform the tracking spell on him.

He still hadn’t told his parents that he had signed up for the study, and he wasn’t looking forward to having that conversation with them, but at the same time he didn’t feel comfortable hiding it either. He still wasn’t sure that he wasn’t making a mistake, but even though he didn’t trust the Ministry or the general wizarding public, he did trust Lily even though he barely knew her.

The girl at the reception didn’t bat an eyelid as he told her he was there for a meeting concerning the Shepherd project, the code name the centre had implemented to assure that no-one outside the few working on the study would know what it was about, in order to protect everyone’s privacy. She simply told him to take a seat in the reception and wait for someone to come and fetch him.

Remus sat down on one of the chairs, his heart hammering in his chest. He had much preferred being allowed to wait somewhere else, out of sight, but no such luck. He couldn’t shake the worry that he would be seen by someone that he knew. Someone like Sirius Black.

He hadn’t seen the other man since he had run into him and James on the Royal Yacht, and that had been a disaster. Remus had tried his best to keep out of their way, but it was as if Sirius somehow had a magical ability to turn up when Remus least of all wanted him to. The fact that they had been on a boat hadn’t really helped, since there were limited places for Remus to hide considering he was also supposed to be working.

After their initial meeting, when Sirius had decided to taunt him for wearing a kilt, Remus had managed to stay out of their way until the very end of the evening. He had been wiping down the bar, starting to tidy things away, when Sirius had appeared as if out of nowhere. Remus didn’t understand why, because everyone else had already moved to the opposite side of the ship, but for some reason Sirius had been standing in the doorway watching him when Remus turned around.

He couldn’t for the life of him understand why Sirius wouldn’t just leave him alone, especially since he had learnt Remus’ secret. Instead he insisted on searching Remus’ out, making fun of him by pretending to flirt. It made no sense. Remus wasn’t blind, he could see that Sirius Black was attractive. Ridiculously so, even, with his high cheekbones and broad shoulders.

Remus had learnt, through Lily, that Sirius was working with all sorts of creatures at the centre and it showed. Sirius was naturally pale, but his skin still had the complexion of someone who spent a lot of time outdoors. Remus had seen the scars that were scattered over the back of his hands and his lower arms, obviously nothing that came close to the scars that Remus had but still. But instead of making him look like a freak, like Remus, Sirius’ scars made him look…hot. A little dangerous, perhaps.

The leather he insisted on wearing didn’t exactly help either, the scent of it making something funny stir in Remus’ belly whenever the other man was close. He was hot, there was simply no point in denying it. So it was lucky, then, that all he needed to do was open his mouth and whatever spark of attraction Remus had felt died in an instant.

It was obvious that Sirius was aware of the effect he usually had on people, and Remus was adamant about not giving him the satisfaction. There was no way he was going to fall for Sirius’ flirting only to get shot down for a laugh, he wasn’t that masochistic. There was no way Sirius’ interest was real, Remus knew that much, so that was why he had brushed him off when Sirius sought him out during the party.

Remus put his advances down to too much alcohol, or maybe he was one of those people who thought fucking a werewolf would be some sort of challenge, but whatever the reason was Remus wasn’t going to fall for it. And the last thing he wanted was to run into him here, now, on the cusp of the full moon when his whole body felt wrong and his bones were aching.

“Remus Lupin?”

Remus’ head jerked up at the sound of his name and he stood awkwardly, giving a tight nod to the girl who was standing by the doorway with a clipboard in her hand. She offered him a small smile as he stood, gesturing for him to follow her into the centre. She looked very young, Remus thought, barely in her 20s, and he had the same feeling watching her that he had when he saw the undergraduate students at the library.

writer questions!

nobody tagged me but I love this crap and am technically a writer so lets do it.

1. what’s your favourite genre to write?

Oooooo romance obviously, but more specifically I like writing fics that focus a lot on character analysis?

2. do you pull inspiration from real-life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfic?

I write a lot of AUs, but I do get a lot of inspiration from songs. I’ll also work in headcanons I see on tumblr and stuff

3. do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things?

I always want to write multi-chapter fics, but struggle to finish them. It’s a goal of mine to write more one shots instead of dedicating myself to 20k+ fics.

4. do you prefer description or dialogue?

DIALOGUE!!! I used to be obsessed with writing texting fics which gave me a lot of experience with dialogue, while leaving my description skills to suffer.

5. favourite fanfic/book of all time?

Bro. Impossible question, but my current favourite book is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. My favourite series is Six of Crows or The Raven Cycle.

This is atypical for me since it’s not romance focused, but is rather focused on Neil’s trauma from his mother and him realizing that the way she treated him was not okay.

Also shoutout to every “andreil fake rivalry fic” it is one of the few times I read established relationship and I eat it up every time.

An interesting twist on the coffee shop AU where Mickey and Ian fall in love as adults rather than teens.

I read this a while ago, but I was OBSESSED it made me fall in love with the idea of Artist! Mickey and I loved how they wrote his relationship with his sister Mandy.

Wrong number! Enemies to Lovers! Fake Dating! There was only one bed! I’m a simple girl tbh. when writing I especially like writing about chronic illness but idk if that counts as a trope.

7. are you the kind of person to work on more than one wip?

Not successfully. If I start another fic the first one won’t be touched again til I’ve finished my new fic if ever again.

8. how long have you been writing for?

Since I was 14 so almost 9 years, but that has definitely not been continuous. I’ve gone years without writing anything.

9. do you tend to write more during the morning, afternoon, or evening?

I get an idea and write whenever I can until it’s either done or I’ve gotten distracted rather than having a set time of the day.

10. do you prefer to post your wip chapter by chapter, or do you prefer to wait until your wip is 100% finished before posting?

I prefer to finish everything first because I’ve found I won’t finish otherwise. Besides I like being able to go back and change stuff.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Roman.

To everyone, he seemed like the perfect kid. He always raised his hand during class, even though he was wrong quite often. He got lead parts in the school plays and musicals, and he never rubbed it in the other kids’ faces. He was a pretty boy, slender and delicate, and of average height. His skin was a warm sepia tan, and his hair was a wavy, dark brown puff that often sat fashionably underneath his prized possession: a newsboy cap that he received after playing Jack Kelly in his school’s production of Newsies JR.

Though Roman quite enjoyed being alone with his thoughts, scribbling ideas and snippets of poetry and stories in one of his many journals, he mostly preferred to spend his time in the company of others. He was quite lucky to have a group of friends who he could trust. His brother, Remus, and his best friends: Logan, Janus, and Virgil.

Roman knew that no matter what happened, his friends would always have his back.

That was why he wasn’t afraid of his freshman year of high school. He shared four classes with Remus, three with Virgil, and one with Janus and Logan. As Roman beamed down at his schedule on the first day, looking around the swarming hallways, filled to the brim with panicked fellow freshmen, he felt a strange sort of calm; almost as if he was in the eye of a storm.

But then, the realization hit the group that this would be their first time not having all the same classes. Virgil shuffled from one to the other, and Logan adjusted his glasses as he took another look at his schedule.

“We ought to try making friends of our own,” Logan mumbled, “It is high school, after all.”

“What does age have to do with anything?” Remus protested, “Just because we’re older doesn’t mean I want to replace you!”

“No one said anything about replacing,” Virgil said quickly, “Logan’s right. I’m not excited about it either, but the best way to avoid becoming the standard, typical, loser freshmen is to make friends with people besides your middle school friend group. Expanding your horizons, or whatever. That’s what my therapist said, anyway.”

“Your therapist is an idiot,” Remus huffed.

“Maybe it’ll be fun,” Roman said, “New people aren’t so bad. Trying to talk to people, making friends? That’s how we found each other.”

“Whatever, dashing,” Remus scoffed, but the smile that formed on his face betrayed him. “I’ll try it. Once. I’ll probably hate it, though.”

“We can all try,” Logan said, “And report our findings during lunch. A solid experiment. We can determine the approximate amount of idiocy that Virgil’s therapist has.”

The first bell rang as the group exploded with laughter, and kids started rushing even faster to get to their classes.

“Well, we don’t want to be late,” Virgil sighed, looking at his watch anxiously, “Let’s go, then.”

Roman watched as his friends went left, seeing as they all had the same first class. He felt a faint pang of loneliness as he realized that nobody in his friend group was going to be in theatre class with him. But he shook his head, trying to stand up tall and be brave. That was what Disney princes did after all, and Roman knew everything there was to know about Disney princes.

As he stood in front of the door to the theatre classroom, decorated with rainbow streamers and quotes from popular plays, Roman took a deep breath. He would channel his inner Florian, Charming, Phillip, Eric, Adam, Aladdin, Li Shang, Naveen, Eugene, and Kristoff if it was the last thing he did. Before he could hesitate anymore, Roman pushed the door open mightily, knowing that if he didn’t do it in one fell motion, then he might chicken out at the last second. But as Roman walked inside the classroom, he was so glad that he didn’t.

There were even more posters in the classroom than there were on the door for plays, musicals, movies, books, even poems! Roman started to bounce on his toes as he read all the quotes, feeling alive with inspiration. As he looked further, Roman saw that instead of traditional rows of desks, the desks were in little groups, similar to how it was done in elementary school. The thought made Roman smile as nostalgia fluttered in his heart. Best of all, the classroom had a huge mural, and it was a big painting of all the Disney princesses up to Tiana standing next to their princes.

Roman felt like he was going to explode with joy.

“It’s Prince Florian!” he exclaimed before he could help himself, starting to feel his arms swing back and forth, back and forth as he swayed on his feet. “And Prince Charming, and Prince Phillip, even Eugene is here! People usually forget about him!”

“I see someone’s a fan of the mural.”

Roman turned around, and was met by a very tall man standing a few feet away from him. He was holding a large thermos of coffee, and was wearing a pair of sunglasses that completely blocked his eyes from Roman’s view. His smile was wry, but it didn’t seem sarcastic or malicious.

“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Mr. Diaz. The theatre teacher here at Sugar Hill High,” the man said, “I’m assuming you’re a freshman?”

“Is it that obvious?” Roman asked with a chuckle.

“I mean, if you had class in this room before, you probably would have gotten used to the mural by now,” Mr. Diaz pointed out.

“You’d be surprised,” Roman said, looking back at the beautiful picture, “I love Disney. I actually know everything about the Disney princes!”

“Everything, huh?” Mr. Diaz asked, before pointing to the man standing beside Snow White, “What’s his name?”

Was this kindergarten?

“Prince Florian,” Roman supplied easily, “Duh.”

“And how old is he?” Mr. Diaz asked.

“18,” Roman once again responded, quick as a flash, “A lot of people think he’s 31, but that’s actually just a rumor. He was confirmed to be 18 a while ago.”

“Wow, impressive,” Mr. Diaz hummed, “Who’s the best Disney prince?”

“Prince Eric. Hands down,” Roman said, feeling his entire body buzz with excitement. “He’s never mean, he has an open mind, and even though he’s a bit stupid for not recognizing Ariel, he has an excuse. He was literally on death’s door on the beach. Plus, he totally saves Ariel’s life! Bam! The boat went right through Ursula!”

“Interesting answer,” Mr. Diaz nodded, “Now…who’s the worst Disney prince?”

“John Smith,” Roman said, wrinkling his nose. “He’s not even a real prince! Plus, his story was completely fabricated. He lied about meeting Pocahontas in one of his stupid journals, and historians found it and thought it was the truth! And then they made a dumb movie about it!”

Mr. Diaz offered a palm for Roman to high five, and Roman grinned brightly, immediately doing so.

“I’ve never met someone who’s so passionate about Disney princes,” Mr. Diaz said, “I think I’m gonna like you, kid. What’s your name?”

“Roman!” Roman supplied, glowing at the praise, “Roman Mendoza.”

“Oh, Mendoza! I remember you!” Mr. Diaz said, “You were Jack Kelly in Eastern Middle School, right?”

“That’s me,” Roman said, “You came to see Newsies?”

“I try to see all the middle school shows, so I can get an idea of who my future superstars will be,” Mr. Diaz explained, “And I think I may have found my first one! Find somewhere to sit, okay, honey? We’re gonna get started with introductions here soon.”

Roman nodded and took a seat right as he was told, staring again at the mural. He couldn’t take his eyes off it. Ever since he saw Snow White when he was four, Disney princes had been Roman’s obsession. It felt like even more than an obsession sometimes. Roman would stay up late, losing sleep to reenact sword-fights, and he would quote the princes in school assignments, and everyday life. Every year for Halloween, he was a Disney prince, and he spent hours making the costumes look just right. A perfectly accurate representation of the movie.

Sure, it was a lot. But it made Roman happy.

“Alright, guys, settle down!” Mr. Diaz called out as the late bell rang. “Settle down. It’s the first day of school, and we’re all tired, we’re not used to waking up early, blah, blah, blah. I get it. Today’s gonna be a chill day. We’re just going to fill out and color this worksheet, and get to know our tablemates better, okay?”

Roman nodded along with the rest of the class, and while Mr. Diaz started passing around the worksheets, he looked to see who he was sitting beside. Not very many kids liked to sit in the front like Roman did, so most of them were in the groups closer to the back of the class. In fact, there was only one other person sitting in Roman’s group.

A shorter boy with pale skin, stick-straight blond hair, and glasses. He had a slightly rounder build, and he had stickers all over his arms and face. Roman thought they looked so cool.

“Hi!” the boy said, “I’m Patton! Are you a freshman too?”

“Yeah,” Roman said, “I don’t think I’ve seen you before. Did you go to Eastern Middle School?”

“No, I went to Braxton Middle,” Patton replied, “Why are you taking theatre? Do you want to be in the crew or something?”

“Actually, I want to be a performer when I grow up!” Roman declared, “I’ve loved acting for…my whole life, actually. I didn’t actually start acting until I was around eleven, but I’ve always loved watching musicals and singing along! I’ve just always known that I was going to be onstage, and-”

“That’s cool!” Patton said, “I want to be an actor too. I’m actually a really good actor.”

“Me too!” Roman said proudly, “At least, I think I am. I hope I am. People have told me I am! And they wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true, right?”

“Mhm, sure!” Patton chirped, “You seem smart. Can you help me with this worksheet?”

It was a worksheet on Shakespeare. Easy peasy. Roman loved reading Shakespeare plays and trying to figure out what all the fancy words meant, and one day during seventh grade, he went down a huge rabbit hole researching and learning about the guy. He wasn’t Roman’s favorite playwright, but Roman certainly knew enough about him to fill out a basic worksheet.

It felt really good, to be smart and desired for his talents.

“Yeah, okay!” Roman responded, holding out his worksheet next to Patton’s, starting to scribble his answers down so Patton could copy them. “Shakespeare is totally awesome. His tragedies are a little overhyped, I think comedy is where he really shines! I think “Midsummer Night’s Dream” is his best work, along with “Much Ado About Nothing”. That one’s totally hilarious! It’s about this guy, and he totally hates the idea of love, and so does this girl named-”

“When did he die?” Patton interjected.

“Uh…” Roman wracked his brain trying to remember, “Let me think…”

“Whatever, I’ll Google it,” Patton said, “Could you go get us some crayons so we can color this?”

“Okay,” Roman said, “What colors do you want?”

“Anything’s fine,” Patton replied, and Roman nodded and was off.

Suddenly, it came to him in a flash, and triumphantly, he shouted:

“1616! That’s when Shakespeare died, August 23, I think, 1616!”

“Uh, yeah,” Patton chuckled, “I already searched it up.”

Roman’s smile faded slightly. He had been proud of remembering that. But he supposed that Google was for research. There wasn’t much point in memorizing dates if he could just look it up whenever he needed it.

“I got red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, white, pink, and gray,” Roman listed, setting the colored pencils on the desk. “I figured we can share so there’s enough for everyone.”

“How sweet!” Patton cooed, “That sounds perfect to me.”

Roman continued to chatter about whatever came to mind, occasionally being interrupted by Patton asking more questions about the worksheet. Roman was more than happy to supply answers. Patton seemed like a neat person, someone that Roman found himself looking up to. The guy was effortlessly cool. He was kind, and he called Roman nice things, like “adorable” and “sweet”.

Maybe making friends in high school wouldn’t be so hard.

By the time the bell rang, Roman and Patton had long finished their worksheets and were now just talking and getting to know each other.

Roman learned that Patton was an only child who had a cat named Beatrice and a dog named Bailey, that he loved to cook and bake, and that he put stickers all over himself all the time.

“I can turn in your worksheet for you,” Roman offered.

“Thanks!” Patton said, handing Roman his sheet, “I’ll see you later, okay? Wait- do you want my number? So we can just text whenever?”

Roman’s heart soared.

“Sure!” he said, holding out his phone immediately so Patton could type in his number, swaying back and forth on his feet with a huge grin on his face.

Patton handed it back after Roman turned in the papers, and Roman saw Patton’s last name in the contact information. Parsons. Patton Parsons. A fun and rather unique name, just like Patton himself! Roman was ecstatic, he felt like there was electricity in the air. First period, and he already made a new friend all by himself.

This was going to be a great year.

Fanfic Writer Asks!

22: describe your writing process from scratch to finish.

It's honestly rather straight forward even though I can take so long lmao. Ideas come from either prompt memes, fests, or random things I see that make me think/discuss headcanons. As soon as I have an idea, I make an outline of sorts.

This outline is sometimes a sentence long "these are the vibes" thing, or just two bullet points with "they run into each other. they get high. they kiss." or, if I'm particularly busy, I'll make a long detailed outline on paper during class. (So many boring lectures spent making wayyy too detailed outlines.) Like, those are easily 4-6 pages for a single oneshot or chapter.

Then the writing is kinda just, sprinting while filling out the blanks? With that really detailed outline, that's pretty easy honestly. Everything's there, I just have to string it together. Most of my writing is done through sprints (either in discord or just timing on my phone) so I can keep track of how long I'm writing.

Editing is either forgotten, or I send it to 1-3 people to betaread and almost blindly accept all their improvements.

For chaptered fics I also try to keep track of like, details I mention while writing? Like character descriptions of smaller characters or little events that happened. (like, I describe Emma Vanity as a plump girl with jet black hair in one chapter, so next chapter she should preferably not to be blonde, yknow)

This is all broken up by endless procrastinating, taking walks with playlists that remind me of the fic, and sending my friends excepts going "look at my dumbass children"

41: what is the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

There are two contenders. One is a strange Narcissa/James/Sirius/Lily/Remus Ballerina AU I was somehow talking about with @stonecoldhedwig (yes, yes all of them. at the same time. idek.) it never got written and maybe that's for the best.

The other is a Minerva McGonagall/Horace Slughorn forniphilia fic. This came about during a discussion with irl friends and I ended up writing and posting it as a Christmas gift. I made a whole new account just to post it. It's terrible. She's a cat at one point. It's here if anyone feels like dying inside.

That same account is going to hold more weird crack fics, though. I've posted a Wario/Taylor Swift/Sportacus fic, and I'm planning a Jane Austen/Matt Healy/Adam Groff fic. These are all gifts for my friends for either Christmas or birthdays. Not sure why.

Comeback event !

Hello everyone! To celebrate my comeback on tumblr, we’re going to have a little event! I asked for your opinions, and you wanted me to do a prompt/AU event, so here we go!!

Carole, what is this all about?

The idea is simple: you can make a request for a character I write for (the list of characters is under the cut) by choosing a prompt in the lists that are (also) under the cut. You can add specific details if you have a more precise idea (but please, remember that I do not write nsfw content). In the coming weeks, I’ll write all your requests! I will accept a maximum of 10 requests, or as many requests as I will have received in the next 36 hours, depending on how many requests are submitted! The requests for this event will thus be open between today (March 22 2023) and tomorrow (March 23 2023).

You can request a fic by sending me a message through my inbox. I will not accept requests sent through private messages because it is very difficult for me to keep track of them that way. A legendary man; James Potter’s name rings around Wizarding London as loud as the toll of Big Ben. To most he is a beloved former school boy who grew into a respected auror, whilst others would speak of him in a less favourable light. Born to Fleamint and Euphima Potter, James was an only child and raised in a large and beautiful home. The Potters were an old family in the city and highly respected amongst high society, both for their name and their contribution to modern day wizarding cosmetics. Childhood was glittering parties and rubbing shoulders with Ministry Officials, models and designers that clutched bubbling drinks. Like any loving parents, the Potters filled their son’s head with dreams and each night he slept soundly knowing the world was his oyster, he only needed to go out and grasp it. Hogwarts presented an opportunity for James to fan his feathers in front of a larger audience and he wasted no time in doing so before the sorting hat touched his dark curls.

James spotted SIRIUS BLACK [best friend/housemate] upon entering the train and immediately became intrigued. He had seen Sirius in his parents circles, though he was aware the Black family preferred to cart out their nieces to public parties rather than their eldest son. They told the same jokes and both immediately rushed to the windows of their carriage when they saw a fight unfolding in the aisles. As soon as James saw PETER PETTIGREW [best friend/housemate] put away his wand and give LARKIN MULCIBER [adversary] a right hook to the jaw, James knew he had to be his friend. Sorted into Gryffindor, he was excited to be with like-minded people and was overjoyed to be seated with Peter and Sirius at the table. But there was someone else sitting there that would come to be just as prominent in his life. It didn’t take long for James to learn that wrapping Gryffindor around his little finger was incredibly easy, but others were not so easily persuaded. LILY EVANS [close friend/potential love interest] was one of them.

No matter how many outlandish displays of affection he threw her way, asking her to be his valentine by spelling her name into fireworks in The Great Hall, defending her honour when people dared to insult her, she was adamant she wanted nothing to do with him. Although his antics did not capture Lily’s attention they did capture those of the faculty, but James had cunning a plan to get around that. REMUS LUPIN [best friend/housemate] was a fellow Gryffindor who had the favour of a number of the teachers including ALBUS DUMBLEDORE [leader/former headmaster] and had future prefect written on his forehead. James made it his mission early on to befriend him, finding the task more difficult than he’d anticipated due to how aloof he was, despite being friendly and easy to speak to. Then in second year, with help from Peter and Sirius, they learned his closely guarded secret. Remus was a boy in need of love and acceptance. From that point onward they were inseparable. Peter was his joy, Sirius was his right hand and Remus was his conscience, which he often needed to spot the holes in his hairbrained schemes.

Remus had been the one to tell him that mercilessly bullying Lily’s gatekeeper SEVERUS SNAPE [adversary] was a bad idea. Or that dating her best friend MARLENE MCKINNON [close friend/former partner] to get her attention, would not get him the attention he was after. James didn’t really know how to win with her and was surprised when suddenly she began being kind to him, but by the time she had, he had more on his mind than winning her over. Just before final year, James had opened his front door to find Sirius sobbing in the street holding his bags. His family had finally severed all ties with him and their friendship meant more to Sirius now than it ever had before. Seventh year saw James a decorated Quidditch Captain and Head Boy, but when he looks back on that time he remembers how he tried to be there for his friends. Soothing their worries and providing a laugh when needed; and how all of the childishness that came before, of flirting with girls and bullying other boys felt meaningless in comparison.

Upon graduating, James moved to London with Remus, Sirius and James. Unlike his friends he had a clear vision of what he wanted to do and was eagerly accepted onto the Auror training programme where he excelled in his position. He was happy in his job, keeping the streets of the city safe at night and partying with his friends in the evening. It was all he’d ever wanted. But James remembered the day it all suddenly changed. Just past midnight he ran to Marlene, her dress soaked in blood, a look of horror on her face like she’d never seen before. BOOKER BAGNOLD [person of interest], was dead and one of his close friends had been uncomfortably close to the event. James threw everything he had into the case, working hard to find the person who had done it and fighting the twists and turns that came their way. He couldn’t have foreseen however, how connected it all was, until the day that Dumbledore extended an invitation to join The Order of The Phoenix. James had noticed the amount of missing person’s cases piling up on his desk and the deaths that went unsolved.

It was the musings, he thought of a tired auror that something larger was at play and then suddenly they had an answer. THE DARK LORD [adversary]. A mysterious figure who Dumbledore was adamant was the hand of death behind it all. To take his mind off things, James has been privately working the cold case of missing socialte ROSALIE FLINT [person of interest], who disappeared three years ago. Many disappearence and attacks including the death of Booker, were attributed to werewolves, prompting the Ministry to look more closely at the members of Wizarding London who may be hiding in plain sight. James has been doing his best to investigate crimes he believes might be related to werewolves, with the help of his mentor HESTIA JONES [close friend/mentor] at The Order’s HQ to ensure Remus’s job remains in tact and he stays out of the crosshairs of some diffiuclt cases which could be pinned on his best friend in panic. Something feels wrong to James about Rosaline’s disappearance and although to many she’s just a pure-blood socialte, he is certain a little research she could fit into a bigger picture no one has seen.
