my absolute favourite thing about the kirk and spock dynamic is that the whole time you’re watching the show spock is gaslighting you into thinking that kirk is this loose canon and spock is paragon of logic keeping his captain on the straight and narrow when its very clearly the other way round. aside from being turned on by everyone and fighting like an old-timey boxer…. kirk is just like.. quite a logical, stable guy. like yeah he rules with his emotions but he’s rarely reckless or erratic, even in situations of immense pressure he’s always calm and measured. sure kirk is unhinged and insane, but we knew that right off the bat. spock on the other hand tries to hide how insanely balls to the walls crazy he is by standing next to jim and hiding all his derangement with logic. i think the reason bones beefs with spock so much because he is the only one who has noticed that spock is an absolutely unhinged individual. (jim is too busy doodling <3 mr jim spock <3 all over his briefings to notice)
A personal favorite dynamic of mine is ‘I would die for you’ and ‘Die? Who said you could die!? No! I will drag you back from the afterlife my self!’. Like yes the ‘I’d die for you’ energy is great, but when the other person responds with basically a ‘like hell you will!’ It’s probably one of my favorite things.
sometimes watching star trek is like "how did this shit get approved" and it's 45 minutes of the most homosexual activity you'll ever see on screen that probably barely got past the censors and sometimes it's like "how did this shit get approved" and it's 45 minutes of the worst writing you'll ever see y'know
Hii, a friend requested that I draw a star trek design for a t-shirt, it was supposed to be based off of the “busy thinking about girls” T-shirt design from the LGBT section of target :,) I think I embodied it well.
GM it’s Christmas so my gift to u is an older spirk doodle of them walking the err uhhh unicorn dog alien thing from tos GSHSBHA based off that one scene from 101 Dalmatians u know the one ;D ✨💫
spirk winning against gomens is very “who are you??” “I’m the owner of this house” bc no matter how u feel about it, the pairing is a literal cornerstone in fandom history to the point that its constantly referenced in media. you KNOW them
The question is not "why do Vulcans kiss with their fingers?"
The question is, why do humans NOT?
The human fingertip—EACH fingertip—has over three thousand nerve endings. It has more touch receptors per millimeter than any other part of the body, including lips, tongue, and genitals.
Obviously the type of sensation we get from our fingers isn't typically a sexual one. But this is also true of lips and tongues. We just think of our lips as romantic and sexual but we don't put finger touching into the same context. We probably could though.
The real reason Vulcans kiss with their hands? It's because they don't touch with their hands very often. Something you don't do with everyone becomes significant and intimate. Like (switching universes for a minute) when the Radchaai take off their gloves. You wear gloves 24/7 around everyone you know, pretty soon taking them off will feel like stripping. Same concept.
Context is everything. Sure, it's no big deal for Vulcans to type with their fingers, just like it's no big deal for you to put chapstick on or lick an ice cream cone. But when a person you've never touched before very carefully brushes your pinkie with their pinkie while your hands are under the table.....you gonna tell me that's not first base? It could be.
UMM ?? THAT IS KIRK TALKING TO HIM?!! THAT IS CAPTAIN KIRK TALKING TO HIM.
I feel like they went as far as they could with the queer ''subtext'' at the time in the very last episode. Especially since these scenes are technically with an actress. They truly went all out
queer fandom is like we're huddled together in a corner of the world sharing stories about people who loved each other but never fucking talked about it
