SPIDER-MAN FIC REC

Off The Record - literally my second favorite fanfic of all time, out of all the fandoms I've ever read about. Peter is the badass he should be in all the fics and the plot is SO good and the characterizations are perfect and just oh my god it's so good. The fight scenes?? Best shit I've ever read. It's Spideypool, not mcu Peter obviously, that would be pedophilia, and they're so fucking adorable. The mystery?? AHHHHHHHH SO GOOD. Just read it, you will never be the same, I promise you.

The premise of this fic is so silly (and i mean that in the best way possible) and it is such a fun read. Great characterization and lots of laughs.

I can not recommend this fic enough! It is my all time favorite and such a comfort fic, it just has all the elements I love. Perfect balance of angst, humor, and a great plot.

I love the 5 + 1(or in this case 6 + 1) format and I think this was a very unique spin on it. I’m always a sucker for some hurt/comfort.

Love this one so much. Very well written and tackles some really heavy topics in such a good wau. It still had all the things I like about Spideypool but the characterization felt really fresh and different.

It's the thought that counts by aurorae. Very very spidery Peter, just a cute fluffy one-shot of spideypool getting together

Spider’s Out of the Bag by ShimmeringBubble. Another purring fic but this time Miles gets in on it!! This fic is so cute and I love seeing them acting like brothers and god I just love Miles he's my favorite boy <3

Not only is Peter more spidery it physically affects him and it's fascinating. Like this fic is not afraid to play with the dark implications of powers, but there's lots of really tender moments between Wade and Peter

The Moist Demanding Chasm of His Mouth by PastaPapi. Fangs!! Not twilight vampire fangs but like supernatural vampire fangs, trust me this shit fucks but please read the tags. Also the Spinnerets <3

If you ever feel like your not being productive enough (I am going to expose my self a little real quick) just remember that a random stranger on the internet (me) has read a lot of spiderman fanfics (109 different fanfics and 115 including rereads) within the span of a week(that's not even taking in account that have I been going to school for 4 of those days and for the two of them I was practically offline for 12 of the 18 hours I was awake) and the fanfics word count ranged from 1k to 100k with most being about 5-20k words a piece. So you may not be being "productive" but at least you are not obsessedly reading spiderman fanfiction at any chance you get. You're not being productive but I am super not being productive and therefore you are being more productive then someone and to be more productive then someone implies your being productive so why are even worried about not being productive. Also sorta unrelated but if you want recs I have started my reading good ao3 fanfiction era and out of my reading bad wattpad fanfiction era so I have tons of recs :]]

Elisa's 2023 Reclist

Since this year I'm not participating in any reading challenges, I decided to at least pick my favorite fics to shout-out. Here's what I have in my list so far.

Naga gonna give you up by Definitively_Different_Drivel (Teen Wolf - Sterek - 17.146 words) It's just a very lovely read with the right mix between Humor and H/C. Loved the characterization and I just love Stiles being some kind of weird werecreatere.

Star Eater by Ki_Ken_Tai_Ichi (Star Wars Sequels - Kylux - 54.388 words) I must say, the thing that made me love this one is the way the Knights of Ren are basically pushing these two assholes together. And Force-Sensitive Armitage is an absolute wonder; the flashbacks of his childhood abuse are heartbreaking in the best way.

The Ride by QueenOfCarrotFlowers (@flowerofcarrots on twitter) (Star Wars Sequels - Reylo - 55.878 words) This is a dark one, what with both of the characters being serial killers. But I just love these kind of twisted fanfics. Definitely a Dead Dove, but if you like the genre, a must read.

she's not going to die today by zerospoons_onlyknives (oprime) (Marvel Comics - Spideypool - 97.359 words) Despite being very twisted and Dead Dove, there are some moments of sweetness in the middle of these two being 50 shades of wrong. Might be because it is a soulmates AU... Again, a must read.

Cut it out and then Restart by onborrowedwings (@weshallflyaway) (Game of Thrones - Sansan - 105.775 words) I was kind of missing reading Sansan, but I also wanted my happily ever after. And this fic was absolute perfection. The right amount of angst, action, fluff. The relationship between the Starks is also so nice in this one! To put it simply: one of those fic you'll struggle to stop reading.

The Long Road by Chifuyu (@StaticRaining on twitter) (Star Wars Sequels - Kylux - 148.104 words) The slowburn is strong with this one, but I can easily say that this is one of my absolute faves of this year. It's kind of a fix-it, but not one of those where they become both good people and stuff like that. Both Armitage and Ren are just problematic pieces of shit that have no idea of what to do with themselves. Which is exactly what made it impossible for me to stop reading. We see both good and bad with them, but it's their imperfection that make them so lovely.

1: favorite fic you wrote this year— I’m going to go with Frenemies with Benefits, the Steter fic I just published recently. It’s the most self indulgent thing I’ve ever written, and it’s therefore no surprise that I love it.

23: fics you wanted to write but didn’t— I’ve always got a massive list of WIPs on the go, but the one I started and didn’t finish this year that I think about the most is a Steter ranch fic. Peter is a rancher who hires drifter!Stiles to help out on his ranch. Turns out to do it justice I’m going to have to do more research than I usually do (meaning more than zero 😝). Apparently living in Montana surrounded by ranches has not given me an automatic understanding of how day to day life works on ranches. Rude.

25: a fic you read this year that you would recommend everyone read— frankly, such a fic doesn’t exist because people are too different, so I’ll just talk about a couple fics I especially adored this year.

The first two that spring to kind are I Offered Myself a Sanctuary (Ted lasso) and Apostate (Under the Banner of Heaven) both by @auntieclimactic who should teach a master class in characterization. These fics are ones I really haven’t stopped thinking about since I read them. “Apostate” is especially near and dear to my heart since I also left a fundamentalist religion.

I have also gathered an unreasonable amount of joy from various Spideypool fics by @themurderfamilybusiness (Jenetica on AO3). I don’t really even do Marvel stuff, but I completely fell in love with them through her eyes. Gonna link #HeySpiderMan because it’s adorable, but like… all of them are so good?! Also love her Teen Wolf fics, but I think I read those last year. Who knows. What is time?

Do u have any good recs of accurate spideypool fanfics, not the shit with peter being all soft yk

i’m so very under-read when it comes to spideypool fanfiction, but my all-time favourite spideypool fic that i think about all the time (that isn’t even finished and hasn’t updated since 2019) is quarantine by teii - it’s just my all-time favourite spideypool dynamic that i’ve read (because i just want wade and peter to be assholes to each other. that is the peak spideypool dynamic to me. tickles an itch like no other) 

and we’ll linger on by paroledog lives in my head rent-free 

my attention span is generally awful for longer fics - if i see a 10k+ word count it’s just not going to happen. i wish i could, but i have such commitment issues. some shorter fics i really love:
