Purple Tea, a new variety that was given to me as a holiday present!
This tea is from Kenya. This high altitude variety has a mild, astringent flavor. The tea trees respond to more UV light by producing anthocyanins and turning purple.
I was impressed by the unusual color of the leaves, somewhere between charcoal grey and very dark purple.
The liquor does have a faint lavender tiny. When I added lemon juice and stirred (third photo) it turned pink.
It's mild and pleasant to drink, with the sort of crisp astringency I really enjoy. Lemon adds to its soft, refreshing flavor.
New japanese tea set! My first tea in this was genmaicha.
Love genmaicha, cause I'm somebody that isn't very used to a high caffeine intake, the taste is also much more muted and overpowered by the rice. Have been trying my hardest to get into japanese green teas for some time now, however, I would never reject a cup of genmaicha!!
now I will have a late night snack (which is a simple boiled egg with sea salt), drink some more of the tea my friend gifted me (Thé du Tarot) and finish editing my latest video + maybe even upload it)
I only took two pictures of this new sheng session so here you go lol
JTH Sister AI’s “Everyday” Ancient Tree Sheng
The beginning and the end.
It was good. It beat me up since I only had a protein shake for breakfast, but I recovered quickly after eating a banana. Remember kids, eat food before your sheng sessions, and keep a Sheng Snack™️ in the car in case it hits you later.
I did this one at 95°C I think? 6g in the glass gaiwan (120ml ish). I started with a flash wash, and then did 10-20second steeps for the first few and then started flash steeping again so it wasn’t so punchy.
Way easier to handle than the purple beauty coins, but might try a pour over next time just to see.
