Great hope has no real footing unless one is willing to face into the doom that may also be on the way.

It’s Season 13, time to be sad! With Cas, Mary, and Crowley all taken in one fell swoop, Dean is left a completely broken man, and Sam is now becoming a Jedi master to our sweet, unpredictable nephilim baby, Jack. Surely nothing will go wrong, so let’s talk about it! 🤜🏻

Was "The Big Empty" the first time in SPN that a third party who wasn't Bobby or Castiel or someone that they cared about called Dean out for being a jerk for his behavior? And was it the first time that instead of cutting him off and telling him he didn't need to or pointing out his own perceived failures, Sam just accepted an apology from Dean and said thank you because he deserved it?
I honestly can't remember, but if it's true, it took 13 years.

1x02 "The Big Empty"
German title is translated verbatim: "Die große Leere".
Big on the Galactica vibes this time. Also, I forgot to mention that the boarding of the Scopuli in the last episode reminded me of an episode of Firefly. And, kind of all over the place, shades of The Martian as well. It's clearly been too long since I watched some new space drama.
I loved the debris field. I'm not usually a sucker for action scenes, but the realistic seeming space portrayal here is really drawing me in.
And there goes the intro. It was fun while it lasted :(
I'm going to assume the pills or whatever Avasarala took are the same ones they gave medic guy to overcome his panic attack? Seemed like too much of an editing coincidence otherwise. (Regarding her name: See, I'm trying. Had to look it up though. And I did get her last name right in the intro post. I did not expect that.)
The Belter prisoner took his own life. Great job, everyone. Very impressed.
I'm a bit confused as to why the others didn't recognize pilot guy running low on oxygen sooner. I'm not trained to work in space and I assumed as much. The way they saved him was pretty cool (in a creepy kind of way) though.
Little tidbits that are probably more or less inconsequential:
The fact that Miller's partner carried the cactus around for the rest of the episode. We both found that hilarious. He's cactus guy for now. (Not sure if you can tell, but I'm really bad with names.)
F...ing Miller poured water from his glass back into a shared bottle. Eugh.
Tinder. (Or maybe it was some kind of police database? I saw Tinder.)
Predictions or more or less well founded to rather random guesses (no answers please):
Someone's trying to frame Mars for the attack on ... big ice ship.
Someone of the five shuttle people is shady. (Or rather, at least one of them.)
