F!reader is falling asleep in Abba's lap. Abba holds her close and doesn't move from his spot from hours. When Mista and Narancia see this they tease Abba like "He's in love; A lovesick fool; Wow, was that a smile? I thought you don't smile! 🤔😏" etc. And Abba, like a tsundere he is tries to deny these statements and begins to blush. Bruno's just looking at him with that know-it-all look on his face.

"I'm tired." you told Abbacchio when you got home, throwing down your bag.

"Then go to bed." he joked.

He wasn't expecting you to take him seriously and curl up on his lap while he sat on the couch. But he didn't mind one bit. He pet the top of your head, even laying little kisses there. Luckily, no one was home, so he could be soft with you all he wanted.

Spoke too damn soon.

The door flew open and the rest of the gang walked in, loudly joking and laughing. Abbacchio wanted to quiet them down, but he knew it wouldn't work.

He panicked. He was worried that the others would make fun of him. You two never told the gang that you were together and he really didn't want to admit that now, as you were fast asleep.

And damn, you were really out because not once did you bat an eye when everyone walked in.

Abbacchio didn't want to wake you by moving so he froze.

And that's when the two idiots - Narancia and Mista - noticed him.

Narancia snorted under his breath and Mista laughed out loud. Abbacchio, still frozen, didn't know what to do.

"Awwwwww!!!" Mista said dramatically.

"Is Abbacchio cuddling y/n?" Narancia said in a baby voice, batting his eyelashes.

"Shut up." Abbacchio muttered, still not trying to wake you.

"You two are in looooovvvvveeeeee!!" Mista played.

"Seriously, shut up." Abbacchio mumbled.

"Look, Mista, he's blushing!" Narancia went on.

Abbacchio was getting annoyed and didn't even realize that subconsciously, he was rubbing your back, which brought a satisficed hum from you.

Mista and Narancia kept getting on him about, making fun of the two of you and Bruno smiled in the back, watching Abbacchio with sweet eyes.

When Abbacchio noticed Bruno's look, he blushed down and then looked down at you with a smile, not even caring that the two idiots were getting onto him. Because after all, you were very comfortable and Abbacchio liked seeing you smile.

My Firecracker -Tsundere!Husband!Bakugo Katsuki x Sick!Reader

A/n: found this as an old draft of mine, sorry if it sucked! I somehow got sick so I'm trying to focus on getting back to writing. I hope this is somewhat enjoyable <3

General info:

Genre: fluff/crack/comfort \\ wc: 405

Summary: Bakugo finds out you're sick but has been hiding it from him. And now he has to cuddle you to make you better. (Doctor Kirishima's orders)

"Y/n what are ya doin-"

Bakugo cut himself off as he heard you vomiting into the toilet. Rushing over, he sighed as he saw you crouched over the bowl, hurling up the ramen Bakugo just made.

Stepping towards you, he knelt beside you, pulling your hair out of your way.

After a few minutes passed you leant your back against Bakugo's chest, sighing as he rubbed your shoulder comfortingly.

"Teddy Bear.. why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling good? I made you spicy ramen today." Bakugo frowned, tilting your chin up gently.

"I... didn't want to bother you." You admitted, wiping at your runny nose.

"Bother me? Who got that idea into your head?" Bakugo scoffed, knocking his knuckles against your head playfully.

"No one.. it's just-. It's one of your rare days off and I didn't want you to have to take care of me. You already do that enough. I just.. wanted to give you a break." You sigh, eyes tearing up as you look up at Bakugo who was frowning.

"Y/n Bakugo. Never do this again. I love to take care of you- and I don't know what I'd do with myself if you got really sick because of me."

"Kats-"

"No. No excuses. Let me hear you promise."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes. If you want me to let you take care of me while I'm sick, you're going to."

"Fine.. I promise." You huff, pouting up at your grinning husband.

"That's my girl."

Smiling, you buried your face into Bakugo's chest as he picked you up, carrying you to your bed.

"Suki, what are we doing?" You mumble, sleepiness evident in your voice.

"We're getting you better. I'm going to take care of you, and give you plenty of cuddles."

"Cuddles? I thought you didn't like cuddles." You tease, smiling as Bakugo laid you down softly.

"I don't. This is just doctor's orders."

"Oh? What doctor?"

"Doctor... Kirishima?" Bakugo replied, hesitation lacing his words.

"Kirishima? Really? You could've done better than that."

"Yeah yeah whatever. It was the first loser last name I could think of."

"Be nice, he helps both of us out a ton."

"Doesn't mean he's not an idiot.." Bakugo huffed.

You sigh, burying your face in Bakugo's neck.

He didn't say anything as he gently laid down with you, pulling you to his warm, muscular chest. "Goodnight, my firecracker."

"Night." You yawn, pecking Bakugo's chest.

I can relate to his strictness as the eldest sibling, but oh my gosh he gets on my nerves. I hate him (lovingly.) Though you do get some of the best writing in fanfics-

Mammon

This idiot. Used to be my least favourite cause my friend absolutely hates him, but he’s such a cute tsundere I can’t- like, crow babies??? Hcs where he gives you cute little trinkets as a sign of love??? Although, I don’t really consider him being my top brother. Sure, he’s mc’s first man and he’s absolutely smitten, but someone else is my number one <3

Leviathan

This fricking otaku. I relate to you so goddamn much. But you’re also my friend’s favourite so I won’t steal you from them ;) Kinda like Mammon to me, but less…idk eccentric and open about love??? Or is just a way more bashful tsundere.

Sasuke feels really touched and starts acting like a Yandere, being really nice to Naruto in his withdrawn way and getting really mad whenever someone says something bad about Naruto.

Although, the guy is sort of an ass and probably wouldn't agree to posing for a picture. Naruto decides to ask him anyway. What's he got to lose?

Chunks of concrete and plumbing pipes ricochet harmlessly off Satoru’s Infinity, his technique extending to cover your limp body as well. Warping in such a volatile environment left him no choice but to race for the veil and pray you stayed alive until then.

“Hey, hey, hey. Stay with me. You’re not allowed to die, idiot.”

“Don’t tell me what to do,” you argue before darkness wipes your eyelids.

He’d forced his dense skull through your resolve exactly three minutes after you’d sat down at your first Exchange Event. You were used to it, at this point, the way people avoided being in close proximity to you or limited interactions with you to a handful of words. Your cold, emotionless stare deterred even the warmest of people from talking to you, with your only real acquaintance being Mei Mei, who people tended to hate even more than you. Despite Utahime’s best efforts to get you to open up and be vulnerable, it wasn’t something that came naturally to you. That is, until you met Satoru.

“Hey,” he said from above you, peering at you over the rims of his sunglasses. His eyes were just as bright and unsettling as you’d heard them to be, but they shined with fondness that you weren’t familiar with receiving. “You new around here?”

“Are you not? We’re first-years, genius,” you deadpan, expecting him to recoil and skitter away like a beaten-up squirrel. However, to your surprise, his smile only widens and he crouches down to look you in the eye while you unconsciously sink further into your armchair. “The hell are you looking at, weirdo?”

“I’m lookin’ at you, weirdo,” he teases, sticking out his tongue defiantly. “What’s with the grumpy face?”

“I’m not grumpy; just creeped out. Why are you talking to me?”

“‘Cause you’re not talking to anyone else, duh. You look like you need a friend.” He shrugs and you’re too stubborn to admit that he’s right. “I’m Satoru,” he greets, sticking out his hand, presumably for you to shake. You eye him warily with all the caution of a bomb defuser.

“I don’t give a shit,” you state, unentertained by his attempt to strike up a conversation. Even when you cross your arms over your chest and give him your best scowl, nothing deters him. He’s insistent on breaking through to you, even if you’re determined not to let him. Before you have the chance to tell him to get lost, though, the teachers are already announcing the rules of the team challenge. The match closely resembled capture the flag, where both teams would hide an artifact and decide whether to prioritize finding the other team’s artifact or protecting their own.

As the excited students from both schools file out the door, he catches your eye one more time and you meet his self-important gaze with a withering glare. “Have fun out there. See if you can beat me.”

You do end up beating him, much to the shock of the black ponytailed boy at his side. Your prior research into the so-called “honored one” had paid off and you managed to hold out long enough until one of his main offensive techniques failed. Despite his unfathomable level of power, it was obvious he was still learning how to use it, and you used that fact to your advantage. He may have been strong, but you were much faster. Still, Tokyo takes the victory solely because the ponytail student, Geto, had a better grip on his technique than Gojo and wiped out your team. You let yourself bask in the fact that you beat the one projected to become the strongest sorcerer in centuries, and allowed yourself to smirk when he approached you after the game.

“Have fun out there, honored one?” His mouth breaks into another lopsided grin now that you’re actually talking to him. Whereas others avoided you because of your cold exterior, he seemed to have you warming up to him. It was confusing, to say the least, but you weren’t opposed to making a friend, even if he was a pretentious asshole.

“Mmm, I did. I think some apologies are in order, too.”

“Apologies?”

“Yeah, sorry for thinking you couldn’t beat me. You’re really strong and I think that’s pretty cool.” You don’t know why his compliment leaves you breathless, face warming and feeling slightly dizzy. “How’d you get your technique to activate so quickly?”

It turned out that Gojo Satoru loved asking questions, and you found yourself enjoying answering them. After Tokyo prevailed in the Exchange Event, he somehow stole your phone long enough to input his number along with a dumb photo of him beaming into the camera. The first time he texted you, you thought it was a joke and considered stomping down to the Tokyo campus and demanding what was going on. But, when you realized the idiot who put in his contact information was indeed the same one that you beat during the Exchange Event, calls with him became common while you were doing mundane little tasks; he enjoyed your voice even while you were doing dishes or folding laundry or cooking dinner. Calling before and after missions integrated itself into both of your routines and you grew to expect a tirade of worried messages if you forgot to let him know you were safe. On one occasion, you exited the veil to find him leaning against a tree, completely unannounced.

“What are you doing here?”

“Hello to you as well, gorgeous,” he says without missing a beat. “Glad to see you’re alive after you went radio silent.”

“I was in there for an hour, you clingy bastard.”

“Hey, at least put ‘sexy’ in front of calling me a clingy bastard.” You snort and he gives you a rare soft smile, one you’ve found was reserved for when he was feeling extra fond of your tendency to push him away. “Let’s go.”

“Go where?”

“Food. I’ve been starving to death waiting for you to finish up.”

“Again, it was an hour-long mission.”

“Felt like an eternity to be away from you,” he teases, but intuition says that he actually means some of that sentiment.

Over time, he started breaking through the walls you meticulously constructed to keep people out. Questions about your technique became questions about your family, your past, your fears, and your strengths. He picked up on little things that no one picked up on before, like the way you pick your calluses when you’re anxious or bite your lip when you’re concentrating on solving a problem. He made you laugh, made your heart flutter, made you feel like a love-infected fool every time he breathed in your direction. It was also why it shocked you so much when you saw him as the strongest sorcerer alive, not just the dorky jester who liked to eat all of your candy when you weren’t looking.

The events of twenty seconds seemed to slow to centuries when the piece of metal struck your side. Time became syrup-like, thick and murky to the point where you couldn’t tell when you’d inhaled or exhaled last. You saw the scene in front of you between blinks: Satoru’s face contorting in rage when you collapse, a blinding strike of violet annihilating the Curse, the remainder of the Curse’s henchmen tumbling over each other to attack you in such a vulnerable state. They’re reduced to piles of dust the instant before Satoru raises you from the ground, your head lulling against his chest. Even when your consciousness fades, your body aches to be touching him, fingers gripping his hand when you’re rolled away on a gurney. When you wake in the infirmary of Jujutsu Tech, he’s still holding your hand like you’d disappear if he let go.

“‘Toru,” you croak, your voice hoarse and ugly from all the dust you’d inhaled. Still, his head snaps upward at the sound of your voice, eyes wider than pool balls. “W-water.” You point weakly to a cup on the bedside table and he darts away to fill it from the cooler in the hallway. He tries to hold the rim to your lips and you choke out a laugh, gently pushing his hand away. “Okay, you don’t need to do all that.”

“What if I want to? Let me take care of you, idiot,” he mutters and you allow him to gingerly help you sip the water. “Don’t tell Shoko I came in here, okay?”

“Why not?”

“She told me to go back to my room and rest–”

“And obviously you didn’t listen,” you finish for him and he smiles apologetically.

“What can I say? You can’t get rid of me that easily, sweetheart.”

“You stayed with me while I was sleeping?”

“Of course I did.”

“Why?”

“Because I thought you’d die if I weren’t with you.”

“How very humble of you, Satoru,” you deadpan and he lightly flicks your forehead.

“You know what I mean. Can’t have you dying on me before I can tell you how much I love you, right?” You’re speechless and are half-waiting for him to say that he’s joking, but he doesn’t.

“I don’t understand.” You shake your head in disbelief, baffled as to how he could have fallen in love with you when you tried so hard to push him away. “I’m ‘cold.’ I’m ‘heartless.’ I don't have the capacity to care about anyone other than myself. That’s what I’ve been told my entire life, so how could you fall in love with someone like me?”

“How could I not? It’s not everyday you find someone who sees you as a human being and not as a fallen god. If anything, you did this to yourself because I do love a challenge,” he explains matter-of-factly and you roll your eyes, letting him take your hand and press kisses to each of your knuckles.

“Tell me how much you love me, Satoru.” He doesn’t even wait for you to finish your sentence.

“I love you, just how you are, and I’d fall in love with you a million times more if I needed to.”

"Ugh, remind me why I let you adopt me," Haerin snorted, getting down to the end of the desk, to stalk you while walking in circles, like a predator its prey.

"You made those big, pleading eyes that you make when you want something, and I had no choice but to take you with me." Your voice was gentle, unfazed, though your expression was the antithesis of it. Your smile was teasing, denoting that this was nothing more than a joke, and that your tone of voice was only to make Haerin fall into your game. Because yes, after all, adopting Haerin had been your decision, and there was nothing in the world that you regretted.

Haerin snorted in response, although far from being bothered, she rubbed her head against your back, which felt soft and plush from the hoodie you were wearing.

If it had been someone else who was there with her, and not you, Haerin's typically tsundere personality would have led her to bite and scratch to the point of exhaustion. However, instead, she just wrapped her arms around your waist, grunting, until she sniffed your scent, inhaling it carefully and deeply. That relaxed her.

"You're an Idiot." She hissed.

"Yeah, I love you too, Haerin."

It would be at the masquerade event that you and your friends went too.

If you didn't go to NRC you probably would have been invited by another one of his dormmates. But if you were going to NRC, he would probably think of you as one of them, "regular" snobby "rich" (notice how they are in ") students who have to get in fights with everyone.

First Impressions:

As I previously said, this was during the masquerade event. You were coming a bit late than anticipated. When you arrived there at the campus (I'm pretty sure), you were greeted by one of the school students.

They quickly guided your way to where everyone currently was. As you turned around the corner you locked eyes with his. Well, that certainly wasn't what he was expecting, he thought you would look more… untitled.

Becoming friends

Yeah um, Rollo cerntainly isn't easy to get along with due to his cold nature, and intimidating face. It would take you sometime to get to know him, which would probably take forever. Also, not to mention my dude is probably comes off that he doesnt care about anything, or anyone. Just saying, he totally laughs at you when you fall.

Feelings:

First of all, he doesn't fall in love THAT easily. Second of all, rest in peace for you, Rollo is a tsundere when comes to love, and just like any classic tsundere, he is clueless. He mutters and calls you sometimes an idiot and other degrading names.

Confessions are very- VERY hard for him because he's not used to being this vulnerable before. Building up the courage to even write down his feelings might take years. There is a 10% chance that he might accidentally say it in person though.

Dating:

If you accepted his confession, well then, congrats! You now have a melting Rollo in your hands! And also you two are dating. He trusts you with his life fr <3. Study, Sightseeing, and picnic dates are the most common between you two. I can see him using nicknames like Idiot, lovely, and Y/N (he’s still a tsundere btw).

What I can't see him doing is PDA, apparently, this man has an image to uphold. Though… He won't mind holding your hand on occasions.

“huh? where’d you get that from, idiot?” tsukishima scoffs, setting his book on the nightstand by his bed before peering down at you.

you’re sprawled out on his bed, head laying on his lap as you continue scrolling through your phone with a knowing smile, “i don’t know, you just look like you’re supposed to be a tsundere. Like how you always hiding how you actually feel under all that snarky remarks,”

tsukishima lets out a faint snort as he listens to you speak, carefully brushing strands of hair from your face with feather-light touches. he coils the lock around his finger before untangling the strand, watching it fall and join the pool of hair splayed near your head. you smile softly, tossing your phone aside and stretching your arms up to cup his face. he obliges, resting his chin gently on the palms of your hand as you continue, “like you always call me idiot, but look at you right now, kei. you’re so fucking soft,”

hearing this, his ears heat up, face turning a brilliant rouge as he instantly retracts and retorts, “no i’m not,”

“yeah, you are,” you laugh, flopping your now empty hands onto your sides as he sighs and repositions your palms for him sit his chin back on them. he rolls his eyes as you let out another string of laughter, “kei, you’re so soft, you can’t tell me otherwise after what you just did,”

“i just didn’t want to see that stupid pout again,” he grumbles, shifting his face so that his cheek was resting against the smooth of your hand and facing away from you. tsukishima sighs, sensing the smug grin on your face without even needing to catch as he reluctantly pivots back to meet your gentle gaze with a halfhearted roll of his eyes before averting them, “but fine, maybe i am soft, or a tsundere, or whatever the fuck,”

“but does it really matter? i love you and you know that,” he whispers, clasping his fingers around your wrist and moving it away as he tips down to place a delicate kiss on your lips, successfully leaving you stunned.

heyy how do you think the relation between the twins and kamiki would be if ai never died and kamiki came to met them like a normal person? I mean we are unsure how kamiki feels about twins but how would twins feel about kamiki if everything was normal? Also how ai would be during the whole scenario? I always love to hear your thoughts on random ass things that come in my brain lol

Honestly speculating anything about Kamiki rn is So Fraught because we had that whole "sorry you thought i was /srs when rly i was /jk" reveal with the mangakas BUT for the purposes of this ask and because it's more fun that way, I'm gonna just assume the teen Hikaru we see in 15YL is like… mostly close enough to some kind of reality.

I think the twins would start off kind of hostile towards Hikaru, in a sort of quasi protective way. Like omg, we have to protect Ai from this sleezeball guy!!! totally ignoring the actual reality of the dynamic between them… I think Aqua would have a lot of trouble taking him remotely seriously as a father figure just because of Hikaru's age compared to Gorou's but I do also think that because baby Aqua has so much more of Gorou's influence in his brain, he would start to pick up pretty quick that like… uh, is this kid alright??? hello??? & eventually come to feel a similar sense of responsibility for him as he does for Ai and Ruby.

As for Ruby, she's definitely way more hostile for a lot longer and goes out of her way to commit Baby Crimes in an effort to just make his life miserable and drive him away. But he gradually wins her over just by being patient with her and tbh I think Ruby would be similarly weak to someone being A Dad for her as she was for Ai being her mom given just how completely she was abandoned by her parents and she ends up accepting him in a tsundere sort of way.

As for Ai… I think she has some surprisingly complicated emotions about it!

While she reaches out to him for the good of the kids, I think Ai would actually have some fears of the twins preferring Hikaru to her or Hikaru's presence somehow otherwise upsetting the dynamic of her relationship with the twins. But then of course, she feels guilty for having those feelings and ends up negatively comparing herself to her mom, who she absolutely does not want to be like, and bottles them all up which means it just gets worse and worse and worse… <3 avoidant little idiot

I think she would eventually have a heart to heart with maybe Saitou and Miyako about it who help her to have a sort of of come to jesus moment about how even if the kids DO end up loving Hikaru, Ai is always going to be their one and only mom and nobody can ever really replace her. I think it would take her a lot of time to feel properly secure just because her history of abandonment by people who are supposed to love her is so gutwrenchingly consistent but she does eventually come around.

I think they'd be a pretty cute family unit! I don't think Ai and Hikaru would ever get back together romantically in this setup but the idea of them being a platonic co-parenting team is really good…

This Week in BL - All the endings

March 2023 Wk 1

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 3 of 8 - Only one of them is in a fuck buddy relationship, and it’s not King Moon-eyes Husband-material. This show is so damn good. I love it when high heat is used to serve the characters and the narrative, as well as us fans. (In other words, take away the sexualized part of this relationship and the whole story would fall apart.) I suppose we should pay attention to Uea’s rules since they will all be broken. Uea has a bit of a demanding spoiled prince thing going and I’m not mad about it. This may be the most neck-kissy couple ever, I’m so happy for them! Yet another installment in “Thailand, please get that boy to a therapist.” This ep likely has lots of extras so I might watch IQ as well. Child abuse trigger btw.

Moonlight Chicken (Weds YT) eps 7-8fin - It was a good last 2 eps, and I ended up actually liking the complexity of the messiness more than I thought I would - disaster queer authenticity isn’t usually my thing. (Japan taught me that lesson the hard way). All in all, a stellar a little offering from GMMTV, in the Not Me or ITSAY vein of “I question whether it’s actually BL but like it anyway.” Full review and rating below.

Never Let Me Go (Tues YT) ep 12fin - The climax was rather predictably climatic (as it were). I love that Chopper shot his dad. Better aim next time, sweetheart? The cousins making up was sappy. Chopper & Ben were fine. Frankly, I’m not sure about PerthChimon’s chemistry, a bit nervous for their series now. And then Kdrama separation nation strikes again. Yawn. Question: Did the cute girl at Palm’s bar ever get her coconut juice? Full review and rating below.

A Boss and a Babe (Fri YouTube) ep 1 of 10 - ForceBook in an office set boss/employee highly camp rom-com. Babe is a bit too slapstick for me, boss is a bit too creepy, and Book is def over egging the pudding. Well meaning chatterbox idiot is not my fav archetype. Bathroom meet cute? Huh. I don’t know. I don’t hate it, I guess?

The Promise (Thai WeTV & YT) ep 1 of 10 - Popped into my YT feed so I gave it a try. Unexpectedly good! Phu & Nan are childhood bffs from middle school through college (almost lovers). Phu disappears just after graduation. After looking/waiting for him for ages, Nan gives up and self isolates, and the actual story takes place 10 years later. The arbitrary slapstick elements are unnecessary, disjoined, and rough. The show should have had the strength of its convictions just to be a serious drama. But it’s way better than expected (it’s about coffee, I love coffee) and no need to have watched the prequel miniseries Phupha | Nanfah. Phu’s granny and cohorts are THE BEST. Also elder queer rep. There better be a GREAT reason why Phu didn’t reach out to Nan or I will be seriously displeased.

Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) 3 of 10 - I kind of love Ken’s slightly idiot gay couple friends. (I do love all of the queer family we are getting these days.) They better not betray him! Still, this is one of those shows where, despite his competency, we haven’t really been given a reason to like Ken all that much. I’m not super invested in his grief or his new romance. The captions are BONKERS but the sex scenes are good. I hope LueKen deliver as well as DinKen. Gotta say, despite my grumbling, I did enjoy it more this week.

Tin Tam Jai (Tues Gaga & iQIYI) ep 1 of 10 - I am not a huge fan of the tsundere seme, especially if they are the older character. But this is a really good cast and for a pulp it’s actually okay acted and captioned. It’s cute. Campy. Old school Thai. I do like a flirty uke who knows what he wants. Lots of very prototypical tropes. Is it good? Well, no, but I’m still gonna watch it.

Love Syndrome (Thai Sat WeTV) ep 1 of 10 - Terrible subs again. They a hot couple but Itt is a revolting character, asshole rather than brat. Day is VERY sexy tho. This one is messy and rough and will likely involve cheating AND the amnesia trope. I might put it onto the binge pile.

Our Winter (Thai & Korea YT & TikTok under ThaiMiniSeries) eps 8-9 of 14 - TutorYim are cute. And nice to have decent music with Thai actors for a change.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

All the Liquors (Korea Thurs Gaga & Viki) ep 1-2 of 8 - Oh my God, breaking up with a man because he picked the wrong restaurant for a holiday meal is v relatable, but the reaction ”how can you break up with me before we’ve eaten?” is the best thing ever. I may identify with our baby party boy hedonist more than any other BL lead ever presented. I adore how Korea is leaning into “out gay boys” these days. Love love love the gay bestie. This is on the New Employee end of the KBL spectrum, no bad thing. Not sure about the alcoholism angle tho. Still, this is a fun show! I don’t even mind the crash into me trope when combined with baby is a floppy drunk trope.

HIStory 5: Love in the Future (Taiwan Weds Viki) ep 10fin (or 19&20) - Not at all surprised that Vincent (Sam? How many names does this man need?) was pulling a double cross, because from the credits we knew the pairs get along. Couple’s necklaces and a sweet make up sequence for the sides. Nice sex scene and manufactured drama for the mains. Ultra cheese fest ending for all including random H4 couple. Full review and rating below.

Jack o’Frost (Japan GaGa) ep 3 of 6 - The first time sex scene from the past was sweet and well done. That said, a traditional BL romance is not what this story is doing. It’s about 2 people at different points in a romantic journey, one of whom has memories of a failed relationship (and associated baggage) and the other who does not (so is starting at fresh). It’s using high concept to explore this, but that means (this beaning Japan) HEA is on shakey ground. Also, still running a bit low energy for me.

It’s Airing But ...

Blue Sky Complex (Japan ???) 5 eps for VR - Kei Ichikawa's manga is getting a JBL adaptation. Weird distribution though, it started Feb 27 sequentially on 360 Channel (SHOCHIKUch) a VR video distribution service. Will inter-fans ever get to see this, and if it’s filmed for VR will it adapt without being overly dark and fuzzy? I have questions. But as usual, you do you Japan and we will wait (im)patiently to see if you remember the rest of the world exists. This is my preferred kind of live action yaoi, so fingers crossed:

Boyband (Thai) ep 2 of 10 - Stopped airing on YouTube, and only available in Thailand & Japan. Not sure if they’re working a distribution deal or just fucking with us.

Cafe In Love (Thai ???) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff.

Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV Thailand) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. Same as above.

Heesu In Class 2 (Korea Thurs unknown, I check Viki Gaga iQIYI) - A gay(er) version of Sex Education. I’m still not sure this one is actually happening.

Finished This Week

My Beautiful Man 2 AKA Utsukushii Kare Season 2

These two have such a great DS dynamic. Only Hira would apologize for fucking and wanting to fuck his own boyfriend, but doing it anyway. Talk about a service top with a humiliation fetish. Sheesh. The masochism is strong with this one. (Since I do not deal with humiliation fetishists well, the cringe factor got to me a little.) Still, pouty jealous Kiyoi is the cutest. [One flaw: The photographer dude should have been played by Kenta. Just a little joke.]

SUMMATION

All in all, this 2nd season didn’t blow me away the way the 1st did. It was quieter and more uniform in its narrative and messaging - thus more predictable. The basic relationship misunderstanding remained the same - all about value and self worth and how that’s assessed. The result is a dialogue between imposter syndrome and a parasocial relationship. If these 2 only had the language and framework of BDSM to understand each other, than they would, but they don’t so the story is us watching them suffer for it. But that’s part of the fun. Part of their fun too, I think, as if the fighting and misunderstanding is just another one of their many kinks. An engaging and solid second installment that was so consistent, I’m going to keep the rating consistent too. 9/10

HIStory 5: Love in the Future

High concept of a man from the past traveling to Covid times and getting involved with a spoiled rich kid soon to be CEO that ultimately made for a dull story. Sides were stellar but intentional miscommunication as a narrative driver never works for me. Good chemistry, nice sex scenes, and a cheesy ending (90% of the time) is Taiwan’s BL brand. I expected nothing less. But there is a little part of me that hoped for something more. 7/10

Never Let Me Go

Bodyguard romance where poor boy must watch over rich boy for family obligation reasons. Simple premise well executed with a few bumps that made it feel like it was trying to tackle too much (when it wasn’t). Still, an enjoyable show that benefited from being handed to PondPhuwin who did a stellar job with their roles and chemistry. Is it going into permanent rewatch rotation? No, but a solid GMMTV offering. 8/10

Moonlight Chicken

I enjoyed this complicated little show, even though it’s spectacularly messy gay with lots of shrapnel and authentic pain. I thought EarthMix turned in their most compelling performance to date. But it was GeminiFourth who stole my heart. That said, the most interesting central relationship was that of Jim & Li Ming, their father-son angst mixed with evident affection made me tear up. This was more slice of life than it was BL, but it ended happily so I’m not mad at it. 8/10

Apparently Pavel (my love) has been added to the cast of Pit Babe, a Thai BL series I thought was defunked (it was supposed to be out in Jan). So I’m happy. I also put it back on the 2023 tracking sheet.

Tia51 announced upcoming sampler pack Thai BL My Universe. Normally I don’t report on Thai announcements, as they are pure speculation, but this one is reported to feature 22 actors, 11 couples, 12 stories, and 24 episodes in August 2023. STOP OR YOU’LL GO BLIND. (FB page BLUpdate2020 has a full rundown of the 12 stories.) No MDL listing that I can find. Giving the War or Y peeps a run for their money? Or just epic Thai BL lever pulp-tastic insanity?
