After the global success and enthusiastic response to the first season, co-creator Neil Gaiman is satisfying fans’ hunger for more on-screen  adventures of the beloved unholy duo with an entirely original story. The ineffable Season Two premiere date was revealed on the 33rd anniversary of the publishing of the original novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Gaiman, which was the basis for the first season of the television series. As a special celebration for fans, Gaiman collaborated with superfans Hilly & Hannah Hindi of the The Hillywood Show to reveal the date in a fan-funded video, “Good Omens Parody,” which can be viewed HERE. The six-episode season will be released exclusively on Prime Video on July 28 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Fans can catch up on the first season of Good Omens streaming now on Prime Video, part of the savings, convenience, and entertainment that Prime members enjoy in a single membership.

Season Two of Good Omens explores storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley. Having been on Earth since The Beginning, and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.

Good Omens Season Twostars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively. Also reprising their roles are Jon Hamm as archangel Gabriel, Doon Mackichan as archangel Michael, and Gloria Obianyo as archangel Uriel. Returning this season in new roles are Miranda Richardson as demon Shax, Maggie Service as Maggie, and Nina Sosanya as Nina, with new faces joining the misfits in Heaven and Hell: Liz Carr as angel Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as angel Muriel, and Shelley Conn as demon Beelzebub.

Neil Gaiman continues as executive producer and co-showrunner along with executive producer Douglas Mackinnon, who also returned to direct all six episodes. Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Terry Pratchett’s estate, John Finnemore, and BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole also executive produce, with Finnemore serving as co-writer alongside Gaiman. Good Omens is based on the well-loved and internationally best-selling novel by Pratchett and Gaiman. The new season is produced by Amazon Studios, BBC Studios Productions, The Blank Corporation, and Narrativia.

I can’t help but feel that if Crowfeather did become WindClan leader he might end up as Onestar 2.0 Twostar if you will

Not in terms of how Onestar was before he was leader, I’m talking about his time during leader.

I just don’t think Crowfeather would be that great a leader sorry, I feel he’s one of those cats which is more suited as a senior deputy to help guide a younger leader (like Whitestorm was to Firestar) rather than someone meant to actually lead.

Anyway Heathertail is the best cat in WindClan to become leader, despite the nepotism.

REVIEW // Dishonored: The Return of Daud (Dishonored, #2) by Adam Christopher

I was hovering between 2 and 3 stars while reading the book, but once I got to page 245 and read this sentence with my own two eyes: "Daud let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding." I knew I had to drop it to 2. Why do so many fictional characters lack control of their own lungs?

One of my first issues with the book was the same as the prequel. I'm not a huge fan of the writing style, and while I can't quite put my finger on why that is exactly, it just gets so difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. I also really disliked the fight sequences. There were definitely more in this book than the last, so maybe I just didn't pick up on it before, but they felt so slow and analytical. I see how this could be a reflection of Daud's training and powers, but as a reader they just felt very anticlimactic and boring. My second complaint is that I really could not wrap my head around what the purpose of this book was. By the time I got to the end it felt like we were in the same exact spot we started at. Billie drops in at the end and sort of saves the story and sets up the next book, but really it just feels like 300 pages of filler to add the necessary timeline between books 1 and 3.

I remember being drawn to this book when it was first released c.2011, because of the gorgeous cover & its premise - a modern day retelling of the myth of Hades & Persephone. Unfortunately, Aimee Carter's The Goddess Test put me off the whole subgenre of modern day retellings of ancient myths for a very, very long time. The myth of Hades's abduction of Kore/Persephone/Proserpine is one of my favourite Greek myths. It is also clearly a favourite of many, if the sheer number of retellings is any indication: the goodreads list "Hades and Persephone" has 172 titles by various authors & I am fairly certain that doing a google search for Hades & Persephone will bring up as many hits for the hugely popular webcomic Lore Olympus as iterations of the myth itself. It seems that the "marriage" of Hades & Persephone continues to inspire many to this day. In this retelling, the protagonist Kate's mother is dying & everything seems hopeless till she sees Henry, who claims to be the god of the dead, resurrect a dead girl. If she is to save her mother, Kate must now participate in seven tests that will determine if she is capable of becoming a goddess & rule the underworld as Henry's consort. It wasn't so much the very quotidian renaming of the gods & goddesses (Hades as Henry, Kore as Kate) that put me off this book, or the cringe-inducing high school setting of the plot, or the hackneyed dialogues, or even the odd co-mingling of late medieval Christian & ancient Greek myth (the seven tests based on the seven deadly sins), but ultimately the lack of a strong, believable story. The story is incredibly low-stakes with the plot taking convenient outs to favour the protagonist repeatedly. The characters are weakly drawn & the plot itself, despite its potential, suffers at the hand of weak & unadventurous storytelling. Synopsis

She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, because in an age of declining births, Offred and the other Handmaids are valued only if their ovaries are viable. Offred can remember the years before, when she lived and made love with her husband, Luke; when she played with and protected her daughter; when she had a job, money of her own, and access to knowledge. My Thoughts

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I’d hoped for. Maybe the audiobooks just aren’t for me ‘cause it seems like I can’t get into them as easily as to physical books. I do think that the motifs of this book are important but it just wasn’t for me.

The writing felt a bit clumsy and incoherent. I had to rewind some of the parts and listen to them again ‘cause I had hard time following what was happening. 

I want to reread this book but in a physical form just to see if I can get more out of it that way. When I give low ratings to books I always feel like it was my fault and I just didn’t understand the book or I read it with the wrong mindset. I just need to accept that it’s ok if I don’t adore every book I read and remember that to each their own.
