Quick reminder that you don't need a solid sexuality! You can just be in love! Or not be in love! Or have a gender! Labels are a choice, not a requirement. All you need to do is be someone you like being! If labels help with that, great! But they are not required. You don't owe it to anyone, so don't feel pressured to choose labels if they aren't your thing!

some queer people will never end up with a perfect label that describes them 100% and that's okay. sometimes you just go "i dunno i'm just queer" or "i'm a dyke who's a fag who's a drag queen" or "i'm just some guy" and that's okay. you don't always need a label or easy way to describe it if you can't. you can blaze your own trail

I feel like we can all agree that labels can either bring people comfort or make people feel like they are being put into boxes. So on that note, I wish you all a good day, and I hope you find comfort with yourselves whether or not you identify with a label.

in s3 of heartstopper, when they address the imogen/sahar possible romance, (and I definitely think they will, there was no heterosexual explanation for that prom scene) I hope Imogen says she wants to be unlabeled, and the whole gang is supportive of this, and tell her that it’s completely fine to be unlabeled, and there’s no pressure to label yourself when you’re just figuring things out, and then even after you’ve figured things out. it’ll be like a not-so-subtle way of saying ‘fuck you’ to all the ‘fans’ who pressured and bullied kit because he was unlabeled.

i’m so tired of unlabeled folk not being taken seriously. i like boys and girls. no, i’m not bisexual. no, i’m not pan. no, i’m not omni. i shouldn’t have to call myself something for people to respect my sexuality. i’m not a lesbian, i’m not straight, i’m not bisexual. it’s not that i haven’t found my label yet, it’s that i have no desire to be labeled

How did you know you were on the asexual spectrum?
it’s still a mystery to me as i am still figuring out myself, but something that really struck me was that i never had desires for anything really?
just the way my friends who were in relationships talked, tv shows, i never desired anything like that. when i looked at anyone, i never felt a sexual attraction really, and it’s something i believe i could live a fulfilling life even without it. i rarely even thought about it in all honesty. realizing that, and realizing that not everyone felt the same way, made me start to research a little.
i also began to realize i have very little romantic interest in general, only ever had 2 real crushes. but i have always longed for romantic connection (a hopeless romantic who struggles with romantic interest. imagine that.)
i took so many quizzes, i remember all the way back in 2020, and read up on asexuality, demisexuality, i even figured i was lithromantic at a point. it was all (and still is) very overwhelming for me.
i struggled so hard to label myself because i felt doing that was the only way for me to finally know myself and be understood. i felt i needed to have a label to be valid, to fit in the community because i realized i wasn’t the standard, i didn’t have the default settings everyone else did (i honestly believe nobody does, but that’s a rant for another time..)
from personal experience, i find it much more relaxing being unlabeled, because trying to label such complex feelings that go on in my mind would be impossible. so i do consider myself unlabeled, if my feelings were to change in the future i like not being tied to a label. that being said, i am open to broader terms, such as spectrums! hence why i mentioned being on the ace spectrum, and why i’m willing to talk on it! plus i believe talking about things i have considered myself, or describing my feelings that may relate to a certain label (like asexuality) can help people who do prefer labels.
anyway…..
because of my struggle, i find myself living vicariously through fiction and media when it comes to things like dating.. (loser)
it makes it really hard growing up like this, even trying to figure out what part of the spectrum you are on, trying to figure out myself. i never allowed myself to get comfortable enough to someone in order to even start exploring. this day and age trying to date while considering being on the ace spec has been a challenge for me, and i’m sure many can relate. dating is black and white in most of the populations mind, and there are certain things to expect when dating, and differing from that standard is insanely hard. and anxiety inducing.
it’s very apparent that most people do have desires i don’t and if i were to pursue someone i like, they expect me to have them as well (because that’s what people who date do, isn’t it?)
in the past this has been a fear of mine because i have been accused of “leading people on” because of the way i am, so i shy away from dating in general nowadays, and that is why my sexuality (figure out if i’m really asexual or even just other sexualities) is still a mystery to myself as i am too scared of doing the wrong thing and hurting people. i hope one day i can build up the courage and start the journey to finding myself! whether that means lgbtq+ or not!
and i hope everyone, ace spec or not, has the chance to do the same. don’t ever be afraid of doing the wrong thing because finding happiness is never wrong, is it? and know things like sexuality can be fluid, don’t feel bound to labels unless you find comfort in them, and don’t feel scared to change.
love u all

my favourite hc is that remus is unlabeled. he's always known that he likes boys too but he doesn't care enough to label himself. it's always been sirius for him and that's all that mattered.

My Personal Headcanons for the 13 Cards Characters - Jacks
(Below the cut there will be a description/explanation of the referenced terms/flags. If the information is incorrect or slightly wrong, please let me know so I can edit it.)

• Gabriel
Queer: term used to describe or define a gender identity that is different from cisgender. It is used by many people who feel that their identity is outside the traditional gender binary (man/woman) of our society. They may be non-binary, gender non-conforming, agender, pangender, genderfluid, or another gender identity.
Unlabeled: unlabeled sexuality is the term used to describe a person who does not identify with a particular sexual orientation. This could be because they don't feel that any of the existing labels fit them, or it could be because they simply don't feel the need to label themselves at all.
Autism: formally called autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or autism spectrum condition (ASC), is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by deficits in reciprocal social communication and the presence of restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior.
Dyslexia: previously known as word blindness, is a learning disability that affects either reading or writing. Different people are affected to different degrees. Problems may include difficulties in spelling words, reading quickly, writing words, "sounding out" words in the head, pronouncing words when reading aloud and understanding what one reads.
• Félix
Aroace: it means that the person does not feel sexual or romantic attraction. Those on the arroace spectrum may still feel other types of attraction, whether queerplatonic, platonic, or sensual.
BPD: Borderline personality disorder is a mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing problems in functioning normally in everyday life. It includes self-image problems, difficulty managing emotions and behavior, and a pattern of unstable relationships.
• Varu/Waru
Demiromantic: describes people who do not experience romantic attraction until they have formed a deep emotional connection with someone, according to the most common definition. Other definitions of this romantic orientation are only experiencing limited romantic attraction, or falling somewhere on a spectrum between aromantic and romantic; the latter definition overlaps with one for grayromantic.
Gay: Used to describe men and women attracted to the same sex, though lesbian is the more common term for women. Preferred over homosexual except in clinical contexts or references to sexual activity.
ADHD: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It is frequently diagnosed in childhood and usually persists into adulthood. It is characterized by inattention (failures in the regulation of attention, moderate to severe distractibility, periods of short or excessive attention), hyperactivity (mainly mental restlessness, not in all subtypes) and impulsive behavior (emotional instability and impulsive behaviors, including motor restlessness) that produces problems in multiple areas of functioning, hindering social, emotional and cognitive development.
• Zontik
Bisexual: this term is used to describe a person who experiences emotional, romantic and/or sexual attractions to, or engages in romantic or sexual relationships with, more than one sex or gender.
Demisexual: refers to people who only feel sexual attraction towards someone with whom an emotional bond has previously been established. Demisexual people do not feel sexual attraction without that prior intimacy and emotional connection.
Anxiety (disorder): Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness. It might cause you to sweat, feel restless and tense, and have a rapid heartbeat. It can be a normal reaction to stress. The anxiety may give you a boost of energy or help you focus. But for people with anxiety disorders, the fear is not temporary and can be overwhelming. Anxiety disorders are conditions in which you have anxiety that does not go away and can get worse over time. The symptoms can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, schoolwork, and relationships.

the pipeline of using like 20000 different labels because none of them really fit exactly how you view your identity then just going “fuhk it” and scrapping all of them and being (mostly) unlabeled is real
