Painting stickers while listening to pre-recorded lectures is something I'll miss when we inevitably have to go back to fully on-campus classes. It'd be a shame to lose the accessibility of online class.

Hello again! (loved your answers...if I'm honest, I did have to google where Occitan is spoken though)

⏰ for how long have you been studying your target language(s)?

For French, about 4-5 years? (whew, I didn't think it had been that long!) For Hindi, just over a year :)

😊 favorite component or aspect of your target language(s)?

French, I love the speaking. While it's definitely difficult to nail it, I enjoy speaking so much in French! I love the writing system in Hindi (Devanagari) because it's just so beautiful, but I also love the fact that (once I'm at a high enough level to have a good conversation with a native) I could speak Urdu too, since it's the writing system that differs, not the speaking. If you're interested in linguistics/languages, I recommend looking at the history of the languages - it's super interesting!

🗓 what's the next language on your radar to pick up and start learning?

Hmmm, either Arabic or Italian, I think. While I'd love to learn Arabic, once I've gotten to a high enough level in Hindi that I can start learning another language, I think I'd rather start with something that uses the roman alphabet, because learning the Hindi script was very difficult with no teacher! So we'll say Italian, and then Arabic!

Yes, the handwriting in the image is how I normally write. To be fair, I don't write much. I woke up late and missed some of my classes, and then skipped the rest of them. Here's what I did today:

Completed constructions chapter

Made lunch for everyone (I usually don't do that)

Cleaned my room

Reorganised my study space

Also, my Pre Boards syllabus is out, so that means the exams are near :( But here's a really nice song to listen (I think it's mostly in Spanish)

Still working through this book - now all I need is a French podcast I'll actually enjoy. I always find myself listening to the first episode but never getting invested, so just forgetting about it. If anyone has any recommendations (intermediate level!) please drop them in the tags!

Working on plants (it's a love hate relationship between me and these pesky photosynthesisers) in preparation for my exams...which are starting in less than three months!

Also, very late, but my reading for February was (only 1 article, whoops!):

Books:

The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Daré. Loved this book; I cried about ten times reading this, and it was so beautifully written. The War Doctor - David Nott. It wasn't my favourite book, but it was interesting. Welcome To Lagos - Chibundu Onuzo. If you want lifelike, vibrant characters and moral dilemmas, I would definitely recommend. Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo. Yes, I'm sorry I'm only reading this now. It was good...but the cliffhanger! Breasts and Eggs - Mieko Kawakami. It's not what I was expecting when I picked up the book, but I found it really thought provoking and I did love reading it, so I wasn't disappointed at all.

3rd January - What is your aim for 2022? J'espere que je serai plus heureusement et je sais que je travaillai très dur! I hope that I will be happier and I know that I'll work very hard!

4th January - What is the most important thing that is going to happen to you this year? Je ne sais pas...c'est une surprise! Je fini l'ecole secondaire cette année et je commence des A-levels - vraiment important! I don't know...it's a surprise! I finish school this year and start A-levels - incredibly important!

Exams have started - 5 down and several more to go. It's definitely a learning experience, but I feel drained already! Think I need to work on better exam practice (like going to bed at a decent time, lol). No nice notes at the moment, only practice questions and fear. While I know the importance of exams and I enjoy showing off the hard work I've put in, I'll still be glad when they're over!

I clean my desk and put back all the books on shelf. I like to wash my face, moisturize and brush my hair! Then I listen to music while reading something (could be a book could be fan fiction who knows not me definitely)

I love all eyes, but brown eyes are so pretty! I feel like there's so much variation (there's not just one type of brown eye colour) and it's absolutely gorgeous!

pastel: would you describe yourself as more punk or pastel?

In terms of dress sense, pastel 100%. Personality is a mix - I like to think I'm quite rebellious etc etc, but I'm also a massive romantic+softy.

Why can't I make a single good mindmap?

20th December - What is your favourite and least favourite holiday/winter food? Le chocolat! A Noel, on peut le manger tous les jours, et c'est tout a fait normal! Chocolate! At Christmas, you can eat it everyday, and it's completely normal!

21st December - What was the most memorable holiday celebration you had at school? Je ne sais pas. Franchement, je ne pense pas qu'il y a des fêtes a l'école! C'était très ennuyeux. D'habitude, le prof a acheté des biscuites, et nous avons regardé un film. I don't know. Honestly, I don't think there were parties at school! It was very boring. Usually the teacher bought some biscuites and we watched a film.

Trying to take a break from studying by reading some vaguely academic books - except since I'm trying to crochet and read at the same time (page-turning is hard lol) there's not much reading actually going on. How are you doing?

18th December - What is your favourite Christmas song/carol? Hmm, je ne pense pas que j'ai une chanson préférée, mais j'adore Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas. Ce n'est pas un choix créatif, mais c'est tellement bon! Hmm, I don't think I have a favourite song, but I love Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas. It's not a very creative choice, but it's just so good!

19th December - What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe? Je ne sais pas le nom...le chanson qui était partout sur TikTok l'annee dernier. C'est trop agaçant! I don't know the name...the song which was all on TikTok last year. It's too annoying!

I'm swamped with revision at the moment (I'm working on my time management skills, but I spend too long building up for studying and not enough time actually studying), because mocks are right around the corner - if they're not cancelled. Never have I hoped so much for exams to happen!
