Do you feel like this ever?

How do you become the person you want to be? How? -- if that person you want to be changes a daily basis? 

This weekend was everything. It was the feeling of everything being imperfect, in the most perfect ways. And now nothing makes sense. Because a lot of it was confusing, and things that, just a few weeks ago, would have me convinced that everything is going up in flames. But they say that if you let go, if you become nothing, then you can become anything.  

I wasn’t really thinking, but part of me drifted away into a thought that it could hurt. That was only a thought though, it wasn’t me. So nothing came of it.

The person I want to be doesn’t exist. She’s not lost or found. She’s nowhere. She’s everywhere. And if she’s wants to be me, tell her that I’m okay with that. I’m here to stay for a minute either way, but if all goes to the gravestones, then soon I’ll be gone again and it will get better in time. It always does.

Who else always imagines how something feels in a daydream rather than just experiencing what’s around at present? It’s like being addicted to an imaginary substance. So depraved and numb, using dreams to self-medicate and avoid reality, when in reality, reality is the antidote to the world of abstract.

Who else is resisting making room for happiness, for fear of losing my connection to the sadness. ....It bites, it grips, it’s something to hold onto. There’s a thrill in it, a risk in it. Have any of you made it out? 

Or did you let your faded fate decide for you? Did you starve yourself of happiness until you had to swallow yourself? Or did you just let your existence mute into “what ifs?” and lay with the blue flames for long nights of invisible, silent, slow love? Did you ever find peace in the ashes?
