One thing that helps me calm down about intra-left-wing sniping and the reality that the big center-left coalition inevitably includes a lot of ridiculous nonsense, is to remember how ubiquitous seances were to progressive politics in the 19th century.  Like, e.g., Frederick Douglass had to go to so many seances. Many, many political strategy sessions around the country had to include feedback from the ghost of Moses who spoke to us via morse code.

Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?

"let people enjoy things" has contributed to a significant decrease in snobbery and pretentiousness so now instead of adults with sophisticated tastes we have 32 year olds on tiktok worried about whether or not a 14 year old thinks their jeans are cringe

Maybe Trump had a point when he called journalists the enemy of the people. (X)
If you want to be a gossip columnist, don’t be a political columnist. Go work for Deux Moi or something, like celebrities are also prettier than politicos so you’ll have better eye candy.

biological differences between men and women are inherently neutral. they do not indicate male superiority over female people. to suggest so is inherently sexist. to complain when female sports cater to female anatomy - such as the smaller balls in the wnba because women tend to have smaller hands - is what sexists do. they want women to be forced to prove ourselves according to standards designed for men because they want to see us fail. it is sexist to argue that women who wish to compete on their own terms are pronouncing themselves as inferior. nobody said that but you. because you’re a sexist that hates women

“Is this woman dumb or is she joking?” Is a question many people should ask themselves. Today, I am referring to Taylor Swift’s lyrics and also to a woman who recently caused a twitter kerfuffle by calling Joan Dideon an It Girl. However, this is good advice in general.

I literally don't care why she's with a man or how or how long or whatever happened and I don't care who she is or what she's said if she's being abused by her man I blame that man, and if she needs an abortion I want her to get that abortion

Spicy take but I honestly do not see Jane Austen novels as wish fulfillment in any way. I see them as social commentaries that show a fucked up system where the heroines manage to learn enough about themselves, their partners, and their societies (and the heroes likewise) to get the best possible outcome given their hugely specific circumstances.
